Really amazing. It is small but I could have stayed there and enjoyed it for hours. The place is just extraordinary and the area around it is gorgeous!

One of the biggest temples and tombs in the area. You can see a long distance all around the surrounding countryside. There is lots of information about the temple and it's history and discovery.

There is a parking place, if you leave your car there you need to walk hard 10 more minutes, but actually... there is a road to the top, no need to leave your car on the parking... however there are no signs!!! Too hot, take water with you :) No shop around. Place is nice, no gide you need to read, walk, look and learn by yourself. Anyway it’s not a bad place, idea is good and place is important... but still not good organized

The Thracian Cult Temple in Starosel is an absolute gem. The temple's intricate designs and beautiful location in the Bulgarian countryside make it a must-visit destination for history and architecture enthusiasts. The relics on display provide valuable insights into the Thracian civilization, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

One of the relatively well restored and maintained place. I wish there were more signs which is where when you park your car at the parking, but we found out way around (I guess).

Amazing place. The energy that you feel when you are there is indescribable. The temple is 25 centuries old. Everything is authentic. The tour guide is great. You should definitely visit it if you have a chance.

The Thracian Temple Complex in the Chetinyovata Mogila, at a distance of 4km from the village of Starosel, was found in 2000. It has a statute of a group archaeological monument of culture. This is the oldest ever found royal Thracian complex with a mausoleum. It dates back to the end of the 5th and the beginning of the 4th century BC. The Thracian Temple Complex at Starosel covers six underhill temples, four of which are unique, as well as a few royal burials. The entire hill is surrounded by a wall made of processed granite blocks. The wall is called krepis and outlines a circle which according to the Thracian religious believes symbolizes the Sun. The entrance of the temple has a parade staircase and two pedestals, on which statues of lions were sitting. The staircase leads the visitors to a flat platform, used for ritual dances. A corridor leads to the real facade of the temple and to the round hall containing 10 decorative semi-columns and tryglyphs (a rectangular plate above each column) with blue and red decoration. Religious ceremonies, related to the cult to the Mother Goddess, her son the Sun and Orpheus were performed in the temple.

The Covered Bridge is one of the symbols of Lovech. It looks beautiful from the outside and is very interesting inside, with several souvenir shops and even a model of the bridge itself.

This is such a charmful bridge! Reminded me of the one in Florence. It is beautiful, but still it looked a bit outdated, lost, empty for a Sunday afternoon. There is a very small cafe inside and plenty of souvenir shops (but most of them sell same items). Would have been nice to see something of the history of the bridge or maybe little lights inside or outside, in the evening. Something was missing, but still is beautiful and worth the trip !

It’s a place that keeps the old arts and crafts alive. It’s not big, it’s not much, but it is an interesting part of the town. The area around it is nice for a walk, especially when it’s sunny. There’s a nice cafe next to one of its entrances, but none of the places there accept card payments. Luckily, there are a few banks abd ATM’s nearby.

Quite a nice covered bridge. Designed and built by Kolyu Ficheto from 1872 to 1874. The best pictures are taken from the regular bridge a bit further. In the covered part of the bridge are many shops that sell the same tourist stuff. I found the atmosphere a bit desolate and it didn't make me very happy.

We were in the middle of the week, a small park, renovations are taking place. A nice place to extract bones on the way from, and nothing more.

Could be a very nice and relaxing place if nor for the trashy people playing super loud and inappropriate music which can easily heard throughout the whole place. Could take a walk but very unaccomodating in case you wanna enjoy a drink or a meal.

The park has been renovated and looks much better now. There's still a lot of room for improvement. It's a pretty place for a walk. Kids love feeding the ducks and riding in the boats.

Lake Park with some renovated benches and paths, first lake is with clean water second one water has a dirty film on top, there is fish inside and a bistro next to the first lake,but seems as it has been 30yrs ago , it is ok for a walk and sitting next to spring water , municipality could turn it into a real gem if they put effort into it.

A beautiful park in Velingrad. Its sad to see so many restaurants have closed down. Some of the park upkeeping is not so good. Otherwise a nice place for a stroll 👌

The place is really up in the mountains so it could get quite cold. Even in hottest days the temperature there is bearable. The best thing is that those guys are doing this to save the bears and they have done an awesome job in finding the perfect place. It was also really nice seeing the bears from so close.

Very pleasant place! The road is ok, the staff is friendly and talkative, the park is well organized, clean and easy to get around. Tours are also organized every 30-40min with a guide and explanation. It is worth visited.

The bears look well. The tour is pretty short - about 40 min and you're back at the entrance. The walk is steep downhill and then back uphill, fortunately all the tour is under tree's shade, so it's not too hot, but it is an effort for those like me, who aren't in shape.

It is great to see the hard work that the foundation is doing for the bears. The tour took around 40 mins. You cannot walk freely in the park, which is the best for the animals. Our guide was very nice and humble.

It was great! We saw about 5 bears. Some really close some not so much. A nice place to visit and kids. Don't miss the rila fun park which is on the way there :)

We were there at the last week of the season, therefore didn’t have any questions. Everything was so fast, easy and relaxed. Cards are in good condition. Dont get the ones with ads on cause you cant see and enjoy the view 😂 We took half day tickets (from 12.30 till 16.00). It was more than enough since it wasn’t crowded. Ticket office and the machines are the same prices. There are stairs to go up very hard to walk would be nice to have a lift.

Extremely long cues, up-to 2 hours in the morning. To save time buy the VIP to use the back entrance, or, take the taxi to the top, or, arrive after the morning rush! There are also long cues to come down as the sun starts to set. Beautiful ride to the top

Absolutely great. I'm over 75, have difficulty walking and for 1Lv had a Gondala pass (same for my assisting daughter). The Gondala staff not only stopped the Gondala so I could get on but messaged ahead to the other end so they would do the same.

It's a gondola.... We were in Bansko week before Feb half term and after 9am it was mega busy, 30 minutes wait minimum if you don't have the magic queue jump pass. Runs all day up and down with a mid station stop at Chalin Valog. Takes about 29mins to reach the top. Tickets bought via crystal Ski so can't comment on the usual cost.

Incompetent system to transfer people to the ski zone. The queue may take up to 3 hours. Second lift shall be in service at earliest. Although they charge 50€ per day, the quality does not match the expectation. There are alternative queues (so called Vip line and Ski school) inside gondola station, this is the reason why you wait too long outside. Apart from that, slopes are surrounded with pine trees and the lifts uphill are relatively less busy.

Incredibly beautiful spiritual site, highly recommended visiting if you’re in the area and can easily make a day trip out of it from Sofia! So much history in this site, the Monastery is free to enter but I would recommend a guided tour for a rich experience.

Beautiful Monastery and beautiful surrounding. The road from Rila to Monastery was magical as forest around this Autumn was like fairy tale. It was on and off rain so not many tourists came (perfect!). You are not allowed to take photos inside the church and walk into the residential area. Entry is free (not sure about museum as I didn’t get in)

Best place to bei. Spiritual and cultural Highlight placed in magical mountain scenery. Parking ahead with a few Meters walkway possible free of Charge. Highly recommend. If you avoid peaktime, than It ist more relaxing. Full around noon.

Rila Monastery is truly breathtaking. Nestled in the mountains, it feels like stepping into a peaceful world far removed from everyday life. The architecture is stunning—colorful arches, intricate frescoes, and beautifully preserved details everywhere you look. The courtyard is especially magical, with the striped façade and central church creating a postcard-perfect view. Inside the church, the frescoes are extraordinary and worth taking your time to appreciate. The surrounding nature is equally impressive; the fresh mountain air and quiet trails make the whole visit feel rejuvenating. Parking and access are straightforward, and there are small shops nearby with local treats and souvenirs. A must-visit if you’re in Bulgaria—both for its history and its serene atmosphere.

Rila Monastery is about a 1.5-hour drive from Sofia, nestled deep in the mountains. It’s best to go by car — the road is easy and takes you through stunning scenery. Plan to spend around two hours at the monastery itself, plus extra time to explore the surrounding area. The complex is breathtaking — beautifully preserved and full of history. Don’t miss the small museum and the icon exhibition next to it. From the courtyard, the colorful buildings set against the mountain backdrop are truly spectacular. Behind the monastery, you’ll also find a restaurant and a few souvenir shops. It’s worth arriving early — I got there around 10 a.m., when it was still peaceful, but by 11:30 the tour buses start to arrive and it gets crowded.

Really beautiful monastery. Wonderful endless murals right outside of the church. Free to enter (didn't try to visit the museum) You need to pay for the parking lot, 5 leva (~2.5 euro). The road to reach it was very nice, some parts alongside the river, made a great photo stop as well

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is absolutely stunning and definitely a must see in Sofia. The architecture is breathtaking, from the golden domes to the beautifully detailed interior. What really impressed me is the feeling this place gives you. It truly evokes emotion, reflection and a quiet sense of presence. Inside, the frescoes are exceptional, full of depth and beauty, and they make the whole experience even more meaningful. Even if you have seen many cathedrals before, this one really stands out. Iconic, impressive and full of history, it adds something special to your time in Sofia.

The Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is one of those places that truly catches your eye the moment you see it. Its massive size, golden domes, and unique architecture make it stand out instantly in the city. You can’t help but stop and admire it from the outside. Once you step inside, the atmosphere completely changes. It’s quiet, spacious, and full of beautiful details. The murals, icons, and soft lighting create a calm and almost mystical feeling that makes you want to walk slowly and take everything in. One of the best things is that entrance is completely free, so visiting is very easy. The area around the cathedral is also lovely for a walk, taking photos, or just enjoying a bit of local life.

Such a wonderful cathedral and the largest in the Balkans. It's Neo-Byzantine style is glamorous and admirable. The artwork and chandeliers were such an eyesight. The cathedral is a symbol of Sofia and must visit. There was no wait time during the week and no tickets. A small donation to light up a candle is a nice idea. The crowd was very low.

I was lucky enough to walk in during service and it was magical. There was a beautiful choir singing and the sound was spectacular. I was in tears. The building and the energy almost commands you to be present. The visitors were very respectful. A must visit. I would assume Saturday afternoon is when they have a service.

Free entry. You can either pray or visit or both. One of the most iconic landmarks in Sofia with pure golden roof finish donated by Russia long time ago. Inside, all those riches and hand painted pictures of all Bulgarian saints. Regardless of your faith, it must been seen while visited Sofia.

A breathtaking masterpiece Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is one of those places that compels you to stop, look up, and remain silent. I recommend visiting both during the day, to admire its architectural magnificence, and in the evening, when the lighting makes it even more evocative. A must-see for anyone passing through Sofia: it is not just a cathedral, it is an experience that remains in your heart.

If you are interested in a better angle for photos, head over to the back of the church by the park. It is less busy and more chances of you getting a solo shot. This is the more humble and smaller church in the old city of Sofia. The architecture itself is reflective of most Orthodox Christian churches with the orb cupolas which are glistening and gleaming of gold. Still a cool stop to make during your walks!

This little Russian Revival style church is so cute and worth the visit. The golden domes are so unique of Russian churches and very attractive from afar. No wait or tickets and very little crowd during the week. Definitely worth a visit to receive blessings of St.Nicholas the Wonder-Maker 🙏🏼

I was truly impressed seeing this church, even if only from the outside. It looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale! The Muscovite-style architecture is very rich, full of details and vibrant colors. What stands out the most, without a doubt, are its golden, onion-shaped domes, which shine brightly and stand out in the city center. It is a unique building, different from everything around it, and perfect for taking some memorable photos.

Free entry. I was so impressed by this Russian Orthodox church, well maintained and looks just amazing inside. Plenty of people who only come to visit and plenty of people came to pray. Please respect both set of humans.

This is an impressive landmark located right in the city center. The architecture is elegant and stately, reflecting the country’s history and governance. You can witness the ceremonial changing of the guards at the entrance, which happens every hour and is worth watching. While visitors can’t enter the building itself, the area around it is lively, with several historic and government buildings nearby.

יש החלפת משמרות כל שעה, פרט לימים שבת וראשון. The official office of the Bulgarian President is housed in this building and therefore the building's honor guard and the guard exchange ceremony, which takes place every hour and can be viewed free of charge (except Saturdays and Sundays). At the entrance to the building are two armed soldiers, dressed in ceremonial uniforms from the 19th century, including a hat with a feather and rifles from this period. The ceremony lasts for five minutes! There are four soldiers who are replacing two who are standing outside, with whom they can also be photographed, if they arrive before the shift begins, and there are two more who are inside the president's house. It is recommended to arrive a few minutes before a round hour.

Cool to see the guards on duty in their cream uniforms. If you arrive at the right time then you can watch the changing of the guard. The building itsf is large but a little non-descript.

Really interesting the way it is situated in the court yard of the government buildings. Very rich and elegant inside in spite of what it looks like outside. I would say, go if you have time, if not, you can place it lower on the priority list. So many amazing museums and art galleries to visit so plan your time well!

The Church of St. George is a truly remarkable place, the oldest preserved monument in Sofia. It is a small red-brick, circular church dating back to Roman times, set among modern buildings, which makes it even more fascinating. Inside, you can admire beautiful Byzantine frescoes from different periods, ranging from the 4th to the 14th century, well preserved and rich in detail. The atmosphere is intimate and spiritual, giving you the feeling of stepping back in time. It is easy to visit, with free entrance, and is located right in the city center, just a short walk from St. Nedelya Cathedral. An unmissable stop for anyone visiting Sofia, both for its historical significance and its unique beauty.

The Rotunda of St. George is one of the oldest buildings in the city, dating back to the 4th century. Its red-brick construction, circular plan on a square base and roughly 13-metre dome create a compact volume rich in history. I really enjoyed how this small building stands out within the urban context, lending the visit a sense of depth.

Vitosha Boulevard is the pulsing heart of Sofia’s city life. Walking down this wide, lively street, you’re surrounded by chic boutiques, cozy cafés, and the buzz of people enjoying the day. The view of Vitosha Mountain at the end of the boulevard gives it a stunning backdrop, making every stroll feel cinematic. It’s the kind of place where you can wander aimlessly, sip a coffee, watch street performers, and feel the city’s rhythm. By night, the lights and laughter give it a whole new energy — Vitosha Boulevard isn’t just a street, it’s Sofia’s living room.

There’s not much to see at all… until you enter inside the church (for a fee)! To be honest, I don’t think I would have been able to appreciate as much the inside as well, if we didn’t have an actual tour guide to explain things. Do note that the interior of the church is small. And entry inside is timed by the caretaker to 8~10minutes per group. The main attractions were seeing the three parts of the church and the many beautiful frescoes inside which told so many different stories - interestingly, both Biblical and of the local history of the region. The small church itself is located in the compound of a botanical garden, but the garden itself didn’t seem to have anything unique about it. Boyana Church is one of Bulgaria’s 10 UNESCO Wolrd Heritage Sites.

WOW. Absolutely stunning! Talk to the kind, gentle and knowledgeable guide inside and he will explain the frescos, the history, the significance. You're supposed to only get 10 minutes, but as there was no one waiting to come in we chatted for about half an hour. An absolute gem of a place and we'll worth a short ride out of the city. The area is lovely to walk and perhaps head up the mountain too.

A must-see in Sofia! Boyana Church is absolutely stunning — the frescoes are breathtaking and incredibly well-preserved. It’s amazing to see such important medieval art up close. The setting is peaceful, surrounded by trees, and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. A true UNESCO gem and a highlight of my visit to Sofia!

Peaceful and beautiful monastery This monastery is truly a hidden gem – peaceful, green, and with a calming, almost spiritual atmosphere. The architecture is stunning, and the whole area feels very well preserved and serene. Just behind the monastery, there’s also a trail that leads into the forest – a perfect spot for a quiet walk in nature. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax, reflect, and enjoy some beautiful scenery.

The frescos are amazingly well preserved, and some brief context is given at the start of the 10 minute viewing window. Kind of a trek out ~50 min from the historic old town/Serdika area but easy to get to with public transit. Worth going to especially if paired with the national history museum that’s a 20 min bus away. There is some uphill walking. I recommend in the morning as only ten people are in at a time, so when you arrive and buy a ticket, you then wait for however many sets of 10 mins until everyone in front of you has gone in. They make sure you have a ticket but not what time, so make sure to stand in line at the church or else others can pass you

Even if you have only 10min inside it’s worth it! You need to experience the frescoes in person, they’re simply breathtaking.

This is a short visit but an opportunity to see remaining frescoes in the church. You can see 3 transitions of the building from outside, and the grave of a notable leader.

I never knew how well preserved this castle was. Sitting on the shore of the Danube river provides wonderful views from the towers.

Good experience walking around the fortress. Several displays and recreated rooms. Access all areas with no safety so care needed if you have small people!!

I went at a great time. We were able to go all over the fortress. But they need to update a few things and make it to where certain tourist and / or locals don't ruin the castle by climbing all over it . Don't get me wrong, I loved going everywhere, but to preserve it for the future, they need to do something. The hand crafted art and woodwork outside on the sidewalk are well worth your time to look .

There is a fortress in Serbia, Golubac. Serbia is not part of EU, but their fortress was well organised. Most if the “rooms” in Baba Vida fortress are empty, there aren’t lights, but there are a lot of spiderwebs, maybe they want to make it authentic 😀. The view from Baba Vida fortress is breathtaking!

During our river cruise , we came here in a guided tour. It is located on the banks of Danube river and it's one of the most important attraction in Vidin. It has got a very long history behind it. It was opened to the public in 1958. it is the only preserved old fortress in Bulgaria. Now days it has got a museum where medieval arms and dresses are kept which are worth seeing. The only problem inside was steep staircases and cobble pathways. It was quite difficult to walk on them.

Amazing place, the favourite place of Mr.Musk. You need to see with your eyes, so can feel the real deal. If you want to fly with the balloon, you need to be on site 6:15AM, park in front of the police station and follow the lights :)

Here’s a more vivid review in English: An absolutely cosmic place — the mountains look as if they belong to another planet. The landscape is breathtaking, surreal, and unforgettable. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

There is a parking lot right next to the entrance pf the fortress. Paid parking 2,5 euro for the hall stay. The entrance price of the fortress - 7,5 euro 🙄 But the place was okay. If you want to go to the top - there are stairs and right at the top are a lot of big rocks - so prepare the right shoes. You can enter with the dog. The souvenirs are sold right behind the cashier- big stone building.

The Belogradchik Rocks in Bulgaria are a breathtaking natural wonder, with towering red sandstone formations carved over 230 million years in the Balkan Mountains. Reaching up to 200m, they create a dramatic, otherworldly landscape perfect for photography. The nearby Belogradchik Fortress, built into the rocks, adds historical depth. The trail has steep, uneven steps, so walk carefully. Bring water and snacks, as there are no facilities. Visit in daylight for vibrant colors or at sunset for a glowing sky—both are unforgettable! A must-see for adventurers and nature lovers!

Absolutely fantastic! We spent almost 2 hours exploring the fortress. There are many stairs, stone and man made, some quite steep... the views are incredible.

Definitely worth a visit. This is one of the most beautiful places in Bulgaria, and maybe in the world. Tip: climb the steps to the top to enjoy the view, but keep in mind that for an elderly person it may be a challenge.

Very interesting rocks formation within inserted perfectly the Roman empyre architecture for a fortress. Unfortunately is not well maintained from the staff, not too expensive 7,5€ but it's in a very remote region from Sofia. Better to spend one night in the area to visit also the Danube border region. They use it for events so the installation are unfortunately someway invasive.

Very interesting historical site, well preserved and reconditioned. Close to the main road, worth a visit if you are passing nearby.

Felix Romuliana is a breathtaking 4th-century palace of Emperor Galerius — a must-visit! Located in Serbia, a land that produced 17 Roman emperors, this site brilliantly showcases imperial power and heritage.

Felix Romuliana, or Gamzigrad, is a complex of palaces and temples built by Emperor Galerius in memory of his mother Romula. The complex, currently in ruins, is a UNESCO heritage site. The surrounding wall with towers is especially well preserved. Most beutiful mosaics from the site were moved to the local museum, unfortunately closed at the time of my visit. Staff members gave a short lecture as an introduction to the site, which was quite informative. Although this place is not as impressive as similar sites in Italy or other Mediterranean countries, a visit here is highly recommended for history buffs.

A fortress so simple, yet complex, filled with culture, history and a relaxing walk through time. While there's not much to interact with, the vast area of ruins scattered across the field is quite unique. Remote location but worth the effort to spend a few hours just taking your time to learn about this place.

Fantastic archeological site, with preserved ruins of what was once at the end of 2nd century AD residence of Emperor Galerius. Impressive fortifications, towers still in place and a wast complex of interior buildings create of this site a unique occasion to understand the power, architectural ingenuity and lawishness of roman empire in its decline. Original mosaics can be seen in Museum of Zaječar just 10km away while the rest are for conservation purposes covered with send, thus invisible to public. There is one part of original artefacts including several mosaics on display in the left hand gate tower. There are guided tours in English as well, and the young and dynamic team of art historians and archaeologist are there to help you around. Absolutely a place to visit and enjoy the beauty of the nature and th magnificent mountain Rtanj on the way there. It will take you approximately 45mib of slow ride from highway exit at Paraćin to reach it. An ideal stop!

A tower constructed from 952 skulls of 19th-century Serbian rebels. The tower was built to serve as a lesson to Serbs who wanted to break away from the Ottoman Empire and was later converted into a monument. Until 1878, the tower remained open and unprotected, leaving only 58 skulls remaining today due to weather conditions and the fact that the skulls were taken away by rebel relatives for burial. In 1892, with donations from across Serbia, a church was built by Belgrade architect Dimitrije T. Leko, encompassing and enclosing the tower on all sides.

Most unique monument in the world. Built by the Ottomans in 1809 as a warning to the Balkan people to not try to do battle with them. Made of the skills of proud Serbian warriors that sacrificed themselves instead of being captured.

Tickets can be bought in the building next to it, but there was no one to check. Around 300 dinars from what I remember. Would be nice if there were more details to the story presented, but I understand why they would want to keep it as it is. All in all, weird feeling that you get there, keeps reminding us of what humans are capable of just for power.

Sad story of the Serbs and what happened when they finally had a TINY bit of success against the Ottomans. To imagine that this tower still stands where it was originally built in 1809 was amazing.

It's worth a vist and the entrance fee is not too high. It's probably about a 10 minute vist to see the 4 sides of the tower and read the 4 information boards.

A great place to visit in the city. There are many old things and buildings in the fortress that you should see. At the entrance there is a public toilet that is free, and in front of it a souvenir shop. There are two small trains here for the youngest who want to enjoy a walk through the park in a different way. A large part of the fortress is under deep shadows. The whole place is with lush vegetation and lots of greenery. Here you will see the remains of an old church, a mosque, a lapidarium, visit museums and many other things. In August, one of the most famous music festivals in the region, Nisville, takes place. It is worth visiting.

Good park, with some attractions around. Has a place for coffee, several souvenir shops, and an open stage with events (might be available online, but I'm not sure). There was no entry fee nor ticket required, but it could be only for this visit. It has a miniature locomotive which provides a sightseeing tour, not sure if it is guided. We parked at a public payed parking, but at the end of the work time for Saturday, but we found it a bit difficult for people who do not have a local Sim card. There is an app, but requires an account which we did not bother to make. Nearly there is a bazaar which has WONDERFUL produce at EXTREMELY affordable prices. Those aromas and tastes took me back to my childhood at my grandma's house - just wonderful, highly recommend!!!

It takes around 2h to come from Niš, but absolutely worth the trip. Small parking for maybe maximum of 50 cars, and entrance fee of only 350 Serbian dinars. You 'll get a small paper with mostly local advertising, I advise you to jump to internet and read the legends about the place, where you'll get much more information. From parking lot to formation, road goes through the woods and very steap stairs , but it's not that long , about 15 minutes walking and climbing. On the top, a stunning view of the rock formation and surrounding. A place definitely looks great during sunny days. I've seen strong lights installed and I wonder if it is possible to visit this place in the evening. Must be amazing. This juwel of nature is definitely worth visiting. Be aware of narrow roads and deep holes which might damage your car. If possible take a local guide to tell you the story about Saxon mines and local legends instead of searching through internet.

Devils Town is unique natural monument. It consist of 202 earthen figures and springs of extremely acidic and mineralized water. It was great experience.

A truly impressive fortress and one of the highlights of our trip to Serbia! The place is full of history, with towers offering breathtaking views over the Danube River. What amazed us most was how well organized everything is – the staff are professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. There are different circuits you can choose from depending on the level of adventure you want, and we really appreciated the safety measures: the most dangerous route is only allowed if you are properly dressed and equipped. It shows how seriously they care about visitors’ safety while still offering an authentic experience. Serbians really know how to make the most out of everything, and this fortress is a perfect example. A must-visit

It was a very windy and overcast day but it was still worth visiting this incredible place. Beautifuly restored. Our guide gave a great history of the place. Many of the towers were closed due to the high winds.

It could have been the grandest & strongest fortress in Serbia? Definitely a must visit. Here I just want to make a remark that in case you come with a guided day tour, make sure that you get a ticket that Covers all zones, if you want to climb to the top, & make sure that enough time is given. I was so disappointed that I was given the lowest level ticket, not given enough explanations, nor time nor options to climb the entire fortress.

We had a pleasant visit here. Very nice renovation, beautiful garden and landscape. Depending on the route you want to visit, adequate equipment is required. Kids under 12 years old can only visit green route, difficulty increases for each color after green. For green it can take up to 2 hours for the visit, taking other routes can probably take 3 to 5 hours. Recommend a visit here, also nearby town is very nice.

The well-renovated fortress with a spectacular view, but to be able to climb to the top of the towers you need hiking shoes. It's very beautiful up there, but make sure you don't get sick of heights because there are also steep areas.

Excellent experience, all recommendations. The only issue is that you can't visit the entire fortress on the same day, because of the schedule of the tours that you should check before coming. There is no hotel or rooms , but it's very good for people who want to enjoy themselves and nature as well . There are benches for sitting , there is a lot of Serbian history.

I did not visit the hotel, but the memorial park itself, its quite magical experience, the monuments are just wonderful and the meaning behind them os quite painful. Although as a young person I just can not imagine the disaster and blood that hides behind it all and also simply cannot imagine the beautiful park to be a bloody place 🙁

I brought mine 8 y.o child in this memorial park and museum 21. October for the first time. It was very challenging how to explain horror of the Second World War and what really happened on this place so long ago. This memorial park and the Museum are places that have to been seen. Beautiful, peaceful place in Kragujevac city with lots of history behind every monument in it. Definitely worth of visiting although it left you with sadness and bitter taste.

A popular place for a walk with your family, friends or pets if you're in Kragujevac. Every October 21. there is a cultural show named "Veliki školski čas" where there are plays and a choir that is there to remind us of the tragic moments that our country's kids had to go through. You can catch a couple of people exercising on any other day of the year. All in all a breathtaking place everyone should visit.

A great place. The keep is quite large but easily seen in about 30 mins to 1 hour. It's fun to climb onto the walls and walk through the towers. There's not much in the way of a museum anywhere so maybe do some research about the site before you get there.

Smederevo Fortress is impressive. I'm not sure why but I was surprised at it's size and scale. Entry to the surrounding park is free and inside the actual fortress is a mere 250rsd. If you like history, especially Serbian history, visiting Smederevo is a must.

Everywhere I turned, there was another piece of art to admire; it was deeply moving, especially with the soft singing in the background. Downstairs, there’s also a newer art exhibition that beautifully complements the main space. I loved seeing the attention to detail and the richness of the religious artwork throughout. Absolutely a spot you shouldn’t miss.

I went here on the 31/8/2025 at 8:00 am sharp since I wanted to see the church without the crowds and I must say this place really disappointed me. The square in front of it it’s completely destroyed and the floor is shattered. It’s full of weeds, trash, faeces, urine and used syringes and it looked like it was never cared for or cleaned. In front to the entrance if the church there were many homeless people. Many young and many well past they nineties. It was so sad seeing those people coming to h crying and begging for food. It shattered my heart and left me with a heavy heart for my whole stay in Belgrade. The church is beautiful inside but it’s unfortunately not looked after properly. It was very crowded and there were pieces of trash and debris everywhere. It looked like it lacked maintenance and the staff wouldn’t stop staring at me and talking with themself while they were pointing at me and making obvious rude comments. It made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. If you are in Belgrade I suggest you coming here but beware it won’t be as you may expect it unfortunately. Such a shame

The plus side - it’s set up very well to learn more about the history, life and work of Tesla, and there are some great opportunities to see working models of some of his inventions, along with personal artifacts. The down side is that the museum is fairly small, and with large groups, it can be pretty crowded. There is also no way to secure tickets ahead of time, unless you’re with a larger group, and you can only pay in cash.

Big disappointment. 1) at least the price is ok , 800 dinars , it’s NOT possible to book online or NOT able to pay with CARD , so you have to wait outside in the rain until they will let you know if you can enter or not since the tour can only accommodate maximum 60 people. I’m not sure why they don’t count 60 people that enter at the gate and then tell the other ones to come back in one hour instead of letting us wait in the rain for an hour. 2) this is actually a very small exhibition, I think the exhibition area is the size of an apartment. It feels more like a high school class lab room than an actual museum. The guide told us that the city is building a bigger and better museum because is very small. ( I think the size has been okay until Elon Musk became famous with the Tesla cars so people started knowing about Nicola Tesla, this is probably the reason why 99% of the people knows about Nicola Tesla) 3) 60 people get crammed on plastic foldable chair chairs in a small room. You feel like a sardine and then they show you a 15 minute video made 10 years ago about the life of Nicola Tesla. 4) then you have 15 minutes where the guide turns on 3 or 4 instruments that Tesla invented. Nothing special if you go to any serious science museum you we’ll see a better and bigger version of this instruments. Not mentioning that you are climbed into a very small room that you can’t even move. 5) then you have another 10 minutes to see a few objects that belonged to Nicola Tesla and then after 45 minutes .

The museum itself is tiny, they only accept local currency in cash. No forex or card accepted. There is no online ticket to purchase, you need to keep standing in queue for hours for hourly slot. Try to avoid last hours as if its full, regardless of time you been standing they wont allow you to come as they can accept people more then its capacity. Once you are inside, the tour is good, they guide you everywhere

They pack a lot of people into this space so it takes a long time to be ready.The video goes for 15 minutes and probably could be updated and sped up. But realistically you should be abke visit the museum and just skip the video if you want to. They do some good experiment demonstrations, but again, could probably run them twice an hour get more people through the facility - there winds up being so many people in the group that not everyone gets a decent view. overall it's not bad and gives an inside into the man and some of his activities but it's a very small museum.

Just don’t bother to get there . We were waiting for 3 hours as only 60 people can enter each time . You pay only cash and watching for half an hour something that you could easily find on YouTube , then the tour guide shares live some experiments (for kids) and then on the same floor you can check a few personal things of Tesla and his ashes 😏 Just don’t waste your time and money . Belgrade is beautiful choose something else .

Interesting experience very educating. The visits can only be done in guided groups but even on a busy day the wait was not too long. The experiments were fun. A lot of personal items of Tesla are on display. I do not recommend this museum for very young children since there’s a 15 min film and a small 20-30 min tour. They might get bored and interrupt the experience for others.

The standards here must be very low because when I was here it was completely dead until 3:00 pm. Not a single soul on sight until late in the afternoon. The street was also extremely filthy with trash, vomit, feaces, urine and used syringes everywhere on the ground. It looked like it was never cleaned or in general taken care of in its life. When it got a bit lively it felt unsafe because it was full of pickpockets. It was extremely sad to see many people begging in the street. Some very young. It broke my heart and left me with a heavy heart my whole stay in Belgrade. A real shame

We went here on a walking tour of Belgrade. It is well laid out and provides a great setting to learn about the history of the area, city, and country. There are plaques throughout with some information but so much can be understood just by looking a the location to understand why it was a critical place for a fortification.

Cool views of the city, some armored vehicles on display at the gates, nothing too special. I liked reading the informative labels throughout the fortress, they were detailed. You can climb on some of the walls, other than that there are some basketball/tennis courts right outside that don’t really match the vibe.
