Nice zoo, a bit small but the price is good. The animals are very nearby, you can take good pictures. Free parking with charging station. The food stores were a bit limited. You can buy tickets beforehand or at the spot (the lady speaks Dutch). They also sell a box with food that you can give to the animals.

What a wonderful find! This place is so nice to walk around. I went with my husband but its fantastic for children. You can feed the animals and its clear which ones you can and can't feed. They have so many animals that are easy to see and such a wide variety. The animals are well looked after. A superb day out that's great value for money.

Really liked it here. Very friendly staff. A lot of animals which can also be visited in their areas. Not only goats but also sheeps, the prairie dogs and Alaca's. And of course not to forget about the soo cute red panda. And, yes we appreciated and used the dogs day.

Very interesting history, especially for people interested in old coins, as it used to be owned by the family that also ran the local Mint, which is across the street. We have been there 4 times and each walking route is different. You can easily spend a whole day here. The only negative is the many cyclists.

Very good food. The portions are correct for the prices and the quality is excellent. The brot is really delicious (taste and texture). Though we did not reserve a table, we seated though we had to search for a table for ourself. The waitresses were friendly and kept checking on us. There was a bit of an issue with the machine for card payment and in general, the restaurant has a nice interior.

The food is delicious, they serve the best Zuppa di Pomodoro. However, the staff is a roller-coster ride, sometimes they are really nice, but sometimes they are just rude. Maybe they feel overwhelmed when the place is too crowded.

What a wonderful place to get exercise, see a great view of the town (I went at sunset!), and have some FUN! This is an interactive sculpture that is a walkable "roller-coaster" (minus the rollers). I uploaded a video of doing the walk on my youtube and sped it up to give it the 'roller-coaster' feel for funsies. Make sure you wear pants under your skirt! As the walkway of the sculpture is metal-mesh and not all solid. Be careful on windy days... Other than that, it's a great place to take pictures! When you enter, you can choose to go right or left. The right side is the longer way. Either way, you have to return back to the beginning going back the way you came, so it doesn't matter which way you choose first -- you can go both ways. There are gates preventing you from accessing the "upside down" part of the loop (obviously for safety reasons). At the base of the sculpture, there are a few benches to sit on. There is also a trashbin near the benches. There's a short hike up an easy incline up a hill to reach the spot from the nearest tram stop. There are also a couple "shortcuts" that cut through the wooded area -- but maybe you need a local to show you where they are... xD When you get off the tram, just follow the paved road to the top and you won't get lost. (Be sure to keep track of the tram time schedule so that you can plan your trip accordingly!) Oh! BTW it is totally FREE! Like most best things in life are sposto be.... yey. Enjoy Germany!

I recently visited Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord and was completely amazed by how an old steel factory was transformed into such a creative and inspiring public space. The combination of industrial ruins, greenery, and open access made it feel like walking through a giant outdoor museum. One of the most extraordinary things I've visited. You can walk from the bottom right up to the top of one of the blast furnaces, stopping at various levels to see how it worked. The views from the top are incredible. There is no fixed route and we just wandered around, but if you wanted an order to it, start from behind the gas tank and head for the bunkers, where you'll "find" the walkway which takes you along them, to the bottom of the visitable blast furnace. There isn't much signage, but actually that's one of the nice things about this place.

Day is good for if you want to climb up to the top of the factory, night for the light and spooky vibe, the evening is great for the view, i like the iron slide they have for children and adult.

This is a great place to either have fun, work out or relax. The fun bath is great for kids to play in with slides to choose from for any age group. They also have a fast flowing circular pool. That portion of the facility is also interestingly decorated line a tropical island. There is also a 25 meter pool to swim laps. Just make sure you aren't there when the local schools are using the lap pool. The wellness area is great to relax in with massage services and various saunas to choose from.

Visited this water park with my partner on a Sunday in Summer, so as expected we had to wait in line to get in. However, the checkout could be more efficiently managed, so that waiting time could have been reduced. I liked that they put large sun umbrellas outside so the people waiting in line could have some shade. Overall it's a nice water park. Its design creates a good atmosphere and there's a lot of variety in the pools and opportunities to spend time there. As others have mentioned before, it was too crowded in most pools to swim. Maybe a limit on customers would work better. We still had a lot of fun and I'm sure if it was less crowded I might have given it a better review. However my main complaints are with the slides: The rules on the slides were too vague. We weren't sure if they were okay to use for two adults at the same time, but everyone else also did and the signs on the slides didn't forbid it, so we did as well. If it's intended to be used like this, the slide with the swim rings should be be able to be used by two adults without the rings flipping over in the turns. I'm not sure exactly what did it, whether it was my partner's height or that we weren't heavy enough, but the ring flipped over with us mid-slide and I hit my knee and foot on the bottom of the slide, which then hurt when bending or putting too much pressure on it. The yellow slide that goes dark for parts of the ride didn't have enough water pouring into it so if you just go down the slide without being wet enough (which can happen if you have to wait in line for a long time and it's very warm), you might end up stuck in complete darkness and stop moving, having to push forward with your hands and feet until you're out. I panicked a little when this happened and I was scared that someone would slide right into us because the red light / green light indicating if you can slide or not didn't work properly at multiple times throughout the day. If you are trying to go relax then it's the wrong place unless you are going to the sauna, Full with little miss behaving kids, parents bring their kids to the Salt pool and disrupt your peace even tho there is a Sign clearly asking to keep quiet... but if you are trying to go have fun with your children, then this is a place to be in Dorsten. It's a nice fun pool with 3 big slides, outdoor pools, and more. The food court is nothing special and kinda over priced for the food quality.

Queues outside + no parking. Inside - no space for changing cabins. In the water - all like sardines in compote. You are being hit and bumped simply because the people inside are at least 3 times more than should be. No single space where to leave your luggage or towel. Big families simply occupying huge tables as if it is their own. One single place for food - where queues are no less. If something happens (God forbid) there is no a chance a swimming guard can even notice someone drowning. I am quite disappointed. When we left around 16:00 a new huge queue of 50 people were waiting to enter.

A great place to enjoy with kids. Parking is free if you are lucky to get a place. We reached in the afternoon by 1 o clock and the parking was full. Place was little bit crowded but it was fun. It has 4 water slides, an artifical whirlpool, kids pool with 2 small slides and sprinklers, jaccuzi, cold and hot indoor and outdoor pools. It also has a wellness centre with Sauna but we did not explore it. One nice deep pool for swimmers too. You can also buy food from the cafe with nice seating arrangements. 4 to 5 hours can be easily spend with family. Entry fees is 14 Euros per person which is worth it, and entry is free if you have a Ruhr top card.

Very nice themed park. My kids (8, 12 and 18years old) all had a great day with the rides and shows. Not completely five stars though. The drinks are quite expensive. The food is reasonably priced. So a tip is to bring your own drinks. Further more, all rides close half an hour before closing time and some only open at 11 even though the park is open at 10. But all in all a great day out. The park is not very big in lay-out, so it is easy to go from one place to the other. Also the waiting times are not ridiculously long as in other parks.

We had purchased the tickets at a discounted price of 29€ and visited on Saturday. We reached early at the opening time and were lucky to not face long queues at most rides. Best thing about this amusement park is that it has rides for all age groups so no one feels left out and most of the rides are super fun. We loved it to the bits and would happily visit it again.

We had a family trip to the movie park. It was an amazing experience. Suitable for all ages. We were. Group of adults, a 5 years old, and a 10 years old. Everyone had an activity suitable for their age. From breathtaking rollercoasters, to family shows, to kids plays. This is a nicely expanding open air museum. Since last year and our last visit there are a few new item to see, combined with the extras today with the horses and tractors meeting it made for an interesting day out. The children always have a lot of fun to see what has changed and to see the animals as well. As said the horses were an extra highlight. As this was all included in the lvr family card it makes it a real bargain as well. Well worth a visit and always worth getting some fresh bread which they make on site.

Very interesting is the exhibit "Wir Rheinländer", telling the story of this particular area from early 1800 until late 1940s, where you walk along a city street and peer into windows, looking at wax dolls in different settings, adding a couple of years for each window, and seeing how culture and people change as time goes by. Good paintball arena with 3 areas to choose from. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They got well-maintained equipment and a good play time management system. Ammunition refill can get expensive for a few rounds, but I guess that's what you need to pay for this sport. Otherwise recommended!

Enjoyable experience of modern art (the 1860s to the 1970s) with informative notes. Includes Dali, Magritte, Van Gogh among many others. I particularly liked various installations. A leisurely stroll through the exhibits took me about two hours, but I can imagine spending more time in this museum, especially because the photo collection was closed at the time of my visit. The main collection is open for free. There is a café-restaurant on the terrace next to the museum. The museum shop has gifts and a lot, a whole library worth of art books. I love this place. The William Kentridge exhibition was exceptional, but the collections hold some gems too (Matisse, Gauguin, Nam Yune Paik, Rodin, Mondriaan) and well curated. We came with our 6 year old who’s not very interrested in art and still spent 3 hours! The museum shop has a great book selection.

Architecturally the building is amazing. The permanente collection is overall pretty good, has quite a few contemporary masters and some interesting minors particularly from the Neue Sachlichkeit and I did not pay. But really need a curatorial overhaul, thematic rooms are maybe good for kids, not for a thinking adult. In particular if the themes are so abstract and the paintings do not speak with each other. Also you can’t put Braque and Picasso right beside a festival poster. I found very interesting & cool the scoring system for paintings’ provenance during WWII, to rank how clear or murky their history was. I wish the same would be done for the “exotic” pieces they have but I guess we would see a lot of red dots. The staff were incredibly friendly and the temporary exhibition was interesting and well curated.

Enormous industrial complex that was changed into a free tourist zone. There are some events organized here, they were even getting ready for one, when I was there, so you would assume that's a perfect example of revitalization effort. Unfortunately that's not entirely true. Yes instead of a toxic plant there is a museum and a forest, however that is also all that's here. Some of the equipment was left under the sun on its own, getting rusty and overgrown, making it look quite sad. Most of the buildings are closed down and the guided tour shows just a fraction of them. There is also no possibility to go underground inside the coal mine, to explore its history. Thinking it was the biggest one is quite a shame. Overall even though the complex makes an amazing first expression the longer you walk through it the sadder it gets. Wasted potential...

My visit to the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex was an absolutely magnificent experience. It is truly awe-inspiring to see how this former industrial behemoth has been masterfully repurposed into a vibrant cultural landscape, housing museums, exhibition centers, a university, and more. The vision required to preserve such a monumental piece of history while breathing new life into it is simply remarkable. ​The sprawling 100-hectare site has been ingeniously transformed into a verdant park, with fantastic cycling and walking paths weaving through the imposing structures. This unique blend of industrial heritage and natural beauty means you can have a wonderful visit just enjoying the park, even if history isn't your main interest. ​Zollverein truly offers a full day of exploration and enjoyment for the entire family. With delightful cafes, excellent restaurants, and even a casino on the grounds, it's impossible to feel a moment of boredom. ​I was unfortunately pressed for time and could only spend three hours there, which was barely enough to scratch the surface. I am already planning my next trip to fully immerse myself in everything this incredible place has to offer. ​A Special Tip: To truly grasp the immense scale of the complex, I wholeheartedly recommend exploring it by bike or taking one of the guided cart tours. It's an experience that is absolutely worth it!

Humongous place to see not only the story is the mines but the area, its people and work. Could easily spend there several hours and still not see everything. Pair with Red Dot design museum in the same complex!

The museum is a hidden gem, specially for expats like me or tourists from abroad, as it has plenty of text and audio in English (unfortunately not that common in Germany). The reconstructions are incredible and are definitely the highlight! But the museum actually offers very good content, with detail in the scientific disciplines involved and including important civic takeaways. It is also quite interesting for families, since the permanent exhibition includes a lot of interactive elements and an audio guide with voice acting for immersion.

Museum is informative, designed mostly to kids, adults can find interesting information as well. I would recommend visiting it for those who are interested in prehistoric era. But most exhibits are replicas.

I recently spent a day at Therme Euskirchen, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The complex offers an impressive variety of saunas – from something resembling a hammam to a unique sauna where you can watch koi fish swimming gracefully behind glass, and many others to explore. Each one had its own character and atmosphere, making it a real journey through different wellness traditions. The pools are equally diverse. There’s a swim-up bar with very reasonable prices (and I was delighted to find my favorite banana weizen beer there), a saltwater pool for deep relaxation, and even a smaller pool where calming music plays underwater – a surprisingly magical touch. I felt both refreshed and completely relaxed by the end of the day. A special mention must go to the Amber Orchid restaurant inside the complex. It is truly a fine-dining experience, with excellent cuisine and a refined atmosphere. Our dinner there was a perfect finale to the day. I would particularly like to thank our waiter, Scott K., who provided impeccable service and made us feel genuinely welcome. Overall, Therme Euskirchen is a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for relaxation, variety, and a touch of luxury – all in one spot.

We had a great day at the Therme. Unfortunately, my cousin had an accident on the stairs near the immersive sky experience. The stairs there are a dangerous. This park is absolutely stunning! I have been to a lot of them but this one is a true piece of art! Wherever you look it is fabulous! The rides are super fun and the food is very good. I want to come back as soon as i can.

It's a nice enough place. It's clean, in terms of no visible grime on things, but the air is filthy with cigarette smoke. The rides are long, with queues to match. I found myself exiting rides, feeling nauseous already, only to walk into a wall of toxic smoke making me feel disgusting. The only place you can go to escape it is the queue of another ride, so that's what we did. The food is on the expensive side, but there are cheaper options and we took our own snacks to supplement. Recommend doing this if cost is a concern. A number of rides were closed on our visit but the ones we did go on were good, well managed, no technical difficulties. We didn't check our small bags and they were fine to be stored while we went on most rides. Agree that the shuttle bus feels like a scam. €5 for a return trip when you have to wait 30 min for it feels excessive. I tried it, I didn't vomit, I probably wouldn't return.

I love visiting theme park and I was intrigued by Phantasialand for a while but I was hesitant because this park has mostly thrill rides and I'm really not into it. However my Husband's is a huge fan of thrill rides so stopped for a day. I was positively surprised by the beauty of the park. The decor are really amazing and well made. I loved the vintage Germany area and the fantasy land. But everything was really gorgeous! It's immersive, well maintained and magical. My favorite ride was Maus au Chocolat which was fun and the decor were really nice. Also Geisterishka even though it's quite outdated now, I liked it. The carousel and the monorail were also pleasant. But as someone who is not into thrill rides I can sometimes be a bit bored. Thankfully the park is nice to walk around, have a sit to relax or watch a show. It was enough for a day however and I couldn't have stayed more unfortunately. I hope that in the future, more dark rides will come as it's something that's really missing here. Other than that, for the quality and the price I can't complain. This is one of the best park in Europe and I wonder why it's not more known. The park is beautiful, they care for details and they maintained it very well compare to other (more popular) parks in Europe. I will definitely come back again if I visit the area.

People are smoking all over the place. This part was a huge dissapointment. The Uhrwerk restaurant employees didnt speak English which should be a basic requirement for anyone working there. We ended up in the China parking where the spaces between the two rows were very very narrow. The whole parking should be re-planned. Overall, it is a nice park, nothing stands out in terms of extreme. It is a nice family park with family friendly attractions. The app is rubbish and the developers seems to be stupid for missing basic things like different languages…!? The price is too high for what you get. Better to go to Toverland or Efteling for cheaper, better, more organised and overall better value for your money.

Phantasialand is by far the best theme park I’ve ever visited! 🎢 The park offers world-class rides like Taron (my personal #1 coaster) and F.L.Y., both surrounded by incredible theming that completely immerses you in each area. Every detail feels thought out and alive. And don’t skip the food — it’s genuinely fantastic and way above average for a theme park!

Love how this central station is extremely close to the famous Cologne Cathedral. You get out of the station and voila, the main landmark is there. I went around a little bit and it's quite dirty and smells urine and all other unpleasant ones. Otherwise, I was just happy at how convenient it was located to my main destination, which is the cathedral.

I love that you can see Koln Cathedral as soon as you step out of the train station. And that you're right in the heart of old town, an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions. Even though it’s often crowded, everything feels well organized, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and respectful. It’s also right next to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), so it’s very easy to reach — perfect for a quick stop or a longer visit. The gift shop is lovely, with nice souvenirs and books about the cathedral’s history. I especially recommend visiting on rainy days — the interior feels even more magical and calming, with the sound of rain outside and the light coming through the stained glass windows. Truly a must-see spot in Cologne!

During our Rhine River Cruise, we came here to see this great piece of Gothic architecture. We came with our guide. Since they are not allowed inside, we saw it ourselves. It took more than 600 years to complete this magnificent Church. It was declared World Heritage Site in 1996. It is most visited landmark in Germany. More than 6 million tourist visit every year. It is the third tallest Church in the world. This medieval Church is continuously renovated. It is very beautiful from inside. The stained window glasses and other piece of art and paintings are magnificent. It's open from 10 to 5 from Monday to Saturday and 1 to 4 on Sundays. Minimum one hour is required to see it properly. The trolley bags and other big bags are not allowed inside.

We came for the Christmas markets but were wowed by this cathedral. Absolutely stunning. It is free, which is amazing!!! We walked right in. We did pay €20 for the whole family to go up the south tower. We did not buy these ahead. It was a little tight up the stairs. 535 of them. We saw the bells and they rang when we were by them, which was cool.

I think this is one of the most important museums in Cologne and one of the main art museums in Germany. You can easily spend 2-3 hours there: it ranges from a very important modern art section with John Cage and "Five Friends" to important expressionist painters, local and international impressionists, and even some Picassos. It's a very good experience for a one time ride. The trains were nice and clean. Lines are beautifully constructed over the central canal through the city. The views of the surrounding hills are also nice. Tips: The tail end seats offer the best views. It's a bit noisy ride.

I was told about this suspension railway and recommended to try it. I joined at Kluse (one stop down from the main train station, next to the cinema) and grabbed a ticket - although cheap (only 1.70) I found the machine doesn't take credit card, so come prepared with coins. The railway isn't big - only two carriages - but they are pretty frequent so if you miss one (or it's full), you don't have long to wait for the next. The carriages have been modernised: they're brightly-lit with clean seats that don't look worn in any way. Sitting at the back gives a good view down the river and along the roads during the trip, but as I tried it last evening in winter most of my trip was quite dark. I travelled south-west all the way to Vohwinkel (the terminal stop) where it's possible to see the other carriages parked, so there's quite a few cars. I then grabbed the one on the other side and travelled back the other way. Quite leisurely, a pretty smooth ride and fairly quick, given the age of the technology. Well worth the trip!

The 165th anniversary of Cologne Zoo is celebrated with evergreen content: dinosaurs. But also with a Panini sticker album. So, if you want to give your children a treat, buy the Dino kombi ticket with the sticker album. Do so online to jump the queue on site. I highly recommend to also book the Dino VR experience in advance - it is a ten minute visual aid (in coop with local VR hero TimeRide) and adds to the animatronics dinos scattered throughout the park. Otherwise, the 14 dinos add a nice distraction to the regular inhabitants of the lovely zoo. Some are animated, others really huge. One of the oldest zoos of Germany sports some nice attractions but also undergoes some considerable refurbishments. Some areas are closed off, others are currently under construction (giraffe house). But some historic buildings (old elephant house) surely add to the flavor. We paid €98 for two adults and 2 kids. So plan to bring your healthy snacks and drinks with you, otherwise better top up your Amex ;)

Although zoos are not my favorite place to travel, this zoo surprised me. Animal rights were relatively respected and different and rare animals were collected in this zoo. I saw the Iranian cheetah, an endangered animal, for the first time in this zoo. It was a completely different experience from the zoos I had seen in Asia and Europe. I had it here.

An incredibly expansive and intricate zoo, with an insane amount of different areas and habitats to visit. Definitely reserve at least a few hours to complete a full loop of the zoo! I've never seen so many of certain animals before, namely the meerkats. Gate staff are also super friendly and speak English which makes it easy.

Have been there again after a long time, it seems most animals kept well,they have more space now and look ok. Only the see through pool of the hippopotamus had an eco problem and was very cloudy,which was why they weren't fed for the public. The ant eater looked bored and moved repetitive. I liked the space of the cheetah which looked very natural. Entrance is expansive,but if you buy tickets online you get a daily free ticket for public transport

The Cologne Zoo is very small. The elephant house and fake dinosaurs take up most of the space. The zoo is a dreary, bleak, and absolutely ugly place, captivating depressed animals. It's truly awful, giving an abandoned desolated and apocalyptic area. Anyone who doesn't feel pity for them probably won't feel anything else either. Every enclosure is super tiny. A lot of animals were also not there. The tropical house was closed, as well as every snack bars except one.. on a weekend.

The Cologne Zoo was Fascinating and I had a remarkable time looking at and watching all the different types of animals. One exception is that they could zone the animal regions so you know what animals are where based on their location they are found. My father in law, Gary enjoyed watching the penguins and the seals jump and dive into the water, Gary said “looks fun to be one”. We both had an amazing time in the Dino VR which tells you how the dinosaurs went extinct and how they lived before. It’s fascinating and a must see, the food selection could be better but overall a great zoo experience. One of the better ones i’ve seen!!🙌

The ticket is just 5 euros and you go up 28 floors pretty fast. It’s just 10-15 mins walk, across the bridge. And totally worth it. Could be windy there so carry a jacket.

This is a great alternative option to see the city from high or having to climb the steps of the cathedral bell tower. There was no queue when we arrived, 5euros for a ticket, get on the lift to the 28th floor and your free to roam around the top. Great views and really sheltered from the weather with super high glass barriers. It's a great place to get away from the noise of the city. They do not allow suitcases but were fine with rucksacks. Great value and 100% must visit.
