Whittlebury Park Golf Course & TopTracer Driving Range offers comfortable accommodations and a variety of dining options. The setting is both spacious and intimate—ideal for hosting everything from the ceremony to the after‑party without ever feeling cramped. nearby partner hotels mean guests can truly unwind and enjoy the full weekend experience. Overall, it strikes a perfect balance between elegance and comfort—highly recommended for anyone looking to turn their big day into an unforgettable weekend retreat.

3 days golfing with the opportunity to play all 3 courses. Each course is 9 holes so 18 holes combines 2 courses for your round. Fairways are wide but the rough can be penal so club selection is important. Golf bedrooms are standard twin and well presented so no complaints… food is a tad fancy for golf trips but was well presented, breakfast was great. Overall, our group enjoyed it and may well go back in 2026
Martin M — Google review
Lovely hotel. Lovely surroundings. Great place to hold work events & training. Attentive, nice friendly Welcoming staff. Breakfast and dinner was of high standard. Would recommend. Don't play golf so I can't comment but the course looked very well looked after. 👍🏻
Mr M — Google review
Had a fantastic afternoon tea session with my friends on Monday, though getting to the venue was quite a task due to road closure but we eventually arrived 😅 Some of the staff were quite helpful over the phone with directions, upon arrival they were gracious enough to move our reservation forward as we missed our slot. The tea was great, loved the selection and it wasn't too much...just perfect. The service was brilliant and the staff very courteous. The grounds are quite breathtaking. Outdoor seating areas available. Good parking spaces available, tea room is very pretty. Their covid regulations are in place with sanitising and temperature stations dotted around. We would most likely visit again for an overnight experience with the Spa 😎🥰👌🏼
Olapeju A — Google review
Interesting mix of 3, 9 hole courses to make 3 different 18 holes, plus short 9. Relatively quiet, very friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in hotel which was large but had a good feel. Yellow 9 pretty open, red involved a few carries over water and but tighter, blue between the two for difficulty.
Kevin H — Google review
I've been to a few practice ranges and in my opinion this one of the best. They use Callaway practice balls and although they have a limited number of bays that I find more appealing. The staff and all very welcoming and they did, in the off season, provide a bay, tracer along with food that me and my son enjoyed at a very reasonable price.
Richard D — Google review
Courses are nice. The bar staff are unusually rude. Just had a particularly frustrating experience earlier today. My group of four visibly 30-year-old men came in to the clubhouse to get a drink after a round of golf at the club. I ordered four pints and the woman at the bar asked me for ID, so I said I'd have to head to the car to get it and jogged off. Came back 5-10 minutes later and a large group of 20+ people was now around the bar. I showed her my ID and she said she was now serving other people (I wasn't sure if she was making our drinks or someone else's when I got back). So, we wait around 15-20 minutes for all these people to all be served and I order again when I finally get back to the front, to which she says "are the other three for them? I'll have to see their IDs as well"... Really? Couldn't have said that half an hour ago? They didn't all have ID because we all pay with our phones these days and haven't been carded in years, so we just left. They were next to me the whole time, so it was obvious from the beginning that I wasn't ordering four for myself. Frankly, it was very obvious from the start she had a huge problem with us and we were baffled why she wasted half an hour of our time like that by not asking for theirs right away. It was just vindictive. We don't know this person but it really felt like she had it our for us for some reason. We're not loud or loutish people.
Joe S — Google review
Disappointed with the food in Astins, We had multiple issues with billing. We also drew staffs attention to a wasps nest outside our upgraded room's window. Maintenance came, but as nothing seemed to improve and no warning sign was put up, not sure what they did about it. Other than a verbal apology staff seemed uninterested The spa facility was excellent, as was the lunch there.

National Trust - Stowe Gardens

Mentioned on
16 lists
$$$$affordable
Park
Stowe Gardens, part of the National Trust, offers visitors a chance to explore 250 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens featuring lakes, temples, and monuments. The estate is home to Stowe House, a 17th-century mansion with enchanting gardens and secret temples designed by Capability Brown. The property boasts woodlands, secret gardens, and water features for visitors to enjoy.
Stowe Gardens is one of the most breathtaking landscapes in England — a true masterpiece of 18th-century garden design. Managed by the National Trust, it offers an unforgettable day out, blending nature, art, and history in the most spectacular setting. The sheer scale of Stowe is incredible. Sweeping lawns, serene lakes, hidden valleys, and winding paths lead you to over 30 magnificent monuments and temples, each with its own story. Every turn feels like walking into a different painting. It’s easy to spend hours just wandering, soaking in the beauty and tranquillity. The gardens are immaculately maintained, and there’s a real sense of stepping back in time. Whether you’re a keen walker, a history enthusiast, or simply someone who loves peaceful, inspiring places, Stowe has something to offer. It’s especially magical in spring and autumn when the colours of the landscape are at their most vibrant. The visitor centre is excellent too, with a good café, a shop full of lovely gifts and plants, and very helpful staff. There’s plenty of parking, and the welcome walk from the centre to the gardens gives you a perfect build-up before you reach the main view. Stowe Gardens is not just a visit — it’s an experience, a place that leaves you feeling refreshed, inspired, and slightly awestruck by its beauty.

Once you're near, follow the signs for the national trust parking, as there are several entrances. Its £17 per adult, National Trust members are free. Parking is free. Toilets available. Cafe. Book store. Small shop. The grounds are massive, with many many walks to be had, and you can walk even further through fields. The walkways are wide, and well maintained. Good for buggies.. This is one of the biggest National Trust places Ive been to, and an excellent choice for walking.
R J — Google review
WOW. Amongst the amazing treasure the national trust recommends, this was top of the list! The gardens, the monuments and the actual house were just mesmerising. We loved our trip and the whole vibe was just so peaceful and scenic. We didn’t see inside the house as we have left that so we can come back and explore it! We didn’t explore the gardens and the views were just breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting! And can I just add the amount of amazing fruit trees littered around are beautiful. We did pick some fruit (no signs to say we couldn’t, sorry!) Amazing day out
The S — Google review
Who can resist the magnificent Stowe! A little bit of a walk from the car park, or fir those less mobile, a ride in the buggy. Beautiful parkland and buildings. Eat in the cafe or bring a picnic.
Susan F — Google review
Beautiful landscape dotted with monuments, temples and statues. Be prepared for a lot of walking on rolling undulating paths and grassland. It’s 800 metres from the cafe/shop just to the parkland entrance. Good shoes are essential. Lots of photo worthy views round every corner. The cafe serves excellent coffee and has a good range of savoury and sweet treats. Also an excellent second hand bookshop.
G F — Google review
Vast grounds, lush green scenery, and lots to see. In one corner about a couple of miles there’s glorious and historic building of Stowe School that offers information and display about the 300 years old dynasty and how they lived lavishly. Entry to the Stowe School building is £9 pp and must be booked in advance as it’s not a National Trust building. There are various statues, temples and old buildings in the vast grounds that are worth visiting. Plenty of walk and plenty to explore.
Mas — Google review
Beautiful gardens and scenic vast gardens. The house is additional ticket over the national trust ticket you purchase. There are plenty of big walks to take and enjoy the lake that has a lot of algae and lotus.
Nagaraj T — Google review
A renowned example of an 18th-century English landscape garden, developed primarily by the Temple family from 1717 onwards. The gardens were significantly shaped by a series of designers, including Charles Bridgeman, William Kent, and "Capability" Brown, transforming formal gardens into a more naturalistic landscape. The gardens are known for their lakes, artificial islands, tree avenues, and carefully placed monuments, including the ha-ha, which is one of the earliest examples in England. The gardens also feature over 40 temples and monuments, each with its own unique story and design. Great place, definitely worth a visit if you're a National Trust member, there is a lot of walking.

Absolutely stunning place to visit, loads of stuff for children to do as well
Ashley S — Google review
Honestly a bit boring walking on the side from visitor centre to Mander Park. Mostly dam wall to walk alongside, plus a small patch of woods and then out alongside the road to get back back in. £12 for 6 hours (max for all day) parking is crazy for what there was to see/do IMO and the amount of space they have. We'll perhaps give it another go sometime and go the other way around to see if that's any more interesting.
Heidi A — Google review
Excellent place to relax on a sunny day, superb playground and lots of shade for picnics. Also great for walks and bike rides. Never been before and now will certainly come back.
Rute T — Google review
Nice ride of about 20km round the lake & a pleasant pub in Perry to round it off
Richard — Google review
Visitor centre has car parking that costs £2 per hour and £12 for 24 hours payable at the kiosk before you leave. Credit/debit cards accepted at the kiosk in the car park. The visitor centre has a toilet and cafe serving basic food and drinks with ice creams etc Walks in either direction
Fred S — Google review
Nice area for walking and biking. Good scenery. Small cafe with snacks only on site. Best visited in good weather!
Deepak — Google review
Lovely area for every kind of exercise, either a leisurely walk along the lake or a 9 mile run or ride around it. The north shore path was impassable when I visited so had to turn back, still got the 9 miles in. Score a bit low as not enough benches from west to north along the path, but my real bugbear is the horrendous cost of parking, £8 for 3+ hours. In these cash strapped times families want to get the kids out without spending money unnecessarily, so this is extortion. Maybe after the water rate rise the shareholders want more in their dividend and this stealth tax can help them 🤔🤔
Iain W — Google review
This is a beautiful place, perfect for families, dogs, cyclists, fishermen. Car parking is not cheap but plentiful. Would highly recommend and will definitely return to explore more.

Their are many sign posts, and the locals are very friendly and happy to guide. I really recommend you take time out to spend time here. Great for the family, dog walking, and even meditation.

Brilliant place to visit for all ages. Great parking prices. Disabled parking by café/toilets. Pushchair friendly (spring/summer visit). Plenty of space to play and plenty of trails and woodlands to go exploring. Great play parks for all aged children. Will definitely visit again and definitely recommend.
Samantha B — Google review
Fantastic park for children to learn about the natural environment. Lots of different separate play areas, meadows & lakes. We saw lots of wildlife & lived the bee apiary. Cafe had lots to offer as well as song honey from the bees.
Becky A — Google review
Loved this country park. Inexpensive car parking with plenty of space. Not overcrowded. Very dog friendly. Plenty of wildlife. Everything from woods to meadows to lakes. A large part of it is wheelchair and disabled accessible. I will definitely come again.
Becky M — Google review
What a hidden treasure this place is! I truly wish I lived nearby! The £1 parking fee is an absolute delight—so refreshing compared to the exorbitant rates we pay down south. The area is perfect for walking, with scenic routes that wind through beautiful landscapes. There are numerous playgrounds, all in impeccable condition, ensuring that children can play safely and enjoyably. To top it all off, there's a charming tea shop that offers incredibly good value for money, providing a cozy spot to relax and recharge. I wholeheartedly plan to visit again!
Tom H — Google review
Plenty of parking. Good disabled access (own car park) with mobility scooters available too. Sheltered areas. Cafe great but needs more indoor seating for winter. Lovely woodlands with a gated wildlife area as well. Several playgrounds for children. Recommend.
Emma H — Google review
We feel so lucky to get to live here for a short time. Just a five minute walk from our front door is King’s Way which leads to the lakes and then into the park. I love to walk our dog so she can run and play but I especially love the swans in the ornamental lake, the forest of beautiful trees and paths, and the sounds of the many birds!

Specialty Museums
Nestled in the heart of Huntingdon, England, the Cromwell Museum is a treasure trove dedicated to the life and legacy of Oliver Cromwell, one of history's most pivotal figures. Born in this very town in 1599, Cromwell's influence looms large over British history. The museum showcases an array of portraits, artifacts, and documents that illuminate his journey and that of his son Richard.
It was an amazing place to visit, with great memorabilia of Cromwell's day! A really well presented museum with very knowledgeable staff, with a great medical exhibition and talk today, all who work here are so very willing to share they have a nice little shop with a great selection of books. Even though it's a free museum, a donations is so important, so to keep history at the doorstep.
Paul — Google review
Set in a very appropriate historical building that schooled Oliver Cromwell. Quite a small museum, but it is packed with relevant artefacts. I found the battle at Naseby video to be the most interesting exhibit. I did feel that more information, videos and commentary would have improved my visit. Worth a look if in the town. Some books available to buy.
Paul B — Google review
What a beautifully laid out and looked after museum for a conflict not spoken about enough. My Wife and I attended this lovely building and I was taken aback by the quality of the exhibits and the kindness of the staff who were readily available to speak with us and show us around. The equipment and literature available in the museum is excellent and kindly donated by the families of the conflict and I couldn't recommend this highly enough and hurry as they currently have a Naseby exhibit! Thank you to the staff and recommendations on the books!
Aaron E — Google review
Informative, free, little museum, with interesting items that belonged to Cromwell or from his time, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Located in what remains of a medieval hospital. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Cambridgeshire and have half a day available.
W B — Google review
Very good museum for its size. It's only tiny but packs in so much! I think it being housed in Cromwell's old school also works great in letting you feel closer to the man. Maybe a small extension should be built rather than a move because of this. It packs in tons of stuff for everybody. Niche facts for the history buffs, family friendly signs, dressing up for the kids and kids at heart, child friendly signs, and clear and detained displays. I went to Birmingham museum not long ago, and this little museum just shows the level of shame and ineptitude of the staff and management of Birmingham museum. How can this little niche museum have such amazing displays? I was a curious fan of Cromwell before visiting this place. Now I am a huge fan. What am amazing fellow. Truly one of the greatest Englishmen to have ever lived. I learnt so many new things about him and how many of the negative things we're told are spun out of proportion. I hope this place keeps up the great work and can possibly grow in the future.
M — Google review
Amazing place, for such a small museum there is so much to see and so much quality items (in terms of historical significance). And the staff are absolutely brilliant - helpful, insightful, talkative and knowledgeable. Definitely worth to have conversation with them. And please, if possible, donate something.
Aleksandar B — Google review
Very disappointing, wife and I traveled up from dorset, arrived with a nice welcome, small building and close car park and interesting building with the history but very false history slant, portrays king charles the traitor in a good light, and some twist to accurate history, shame because it's the only museum about him, tainted by catholics! I've come to realise to gotta get the right books, found in the following; Oliver Cromwell by J. Allanson Picton, 1883 Hardback book. God's English man, by Christopher hill James G. Battell Oliver Cromwell | The Last King of England

A comprehensive small museum devoted to all things Oliver Cromwell. Its full of interesting details about him and his influence and the Civil War period. A vital piece of Huntingdonshires history lovingly preserved and promoted, many thanks

Nestled in the picturesque Buckinghamshire countryside, the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is a delightful destination for train enthusiasts of all ages. Spanning 25 acres, this charming site features an impressive array of vintage steam and diesel locomotives dating back to the 19th century, all set against the backdrop of a beautifully recreated Victorian station. Families can enjoy rides on a miniature railway that winds through wooded areas and even includes a tunnel!
It was Father’s Day when we visited and my husband was in second heaven. He didn’t want to leave. Lots to see in the train museum, book shop and on the platform there was a historic bike display. Good food and a chance to go on a short ride on Thomas the Tank engine. What more could a train enthusiast need?
Wendy R — Google review
Visited to see Wightwick Hall running on the Steam weekend. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Lots of engines to see around the site. Visited the museum, lots to see in there. Had a ride on the miniature railway. The cafe was very nice for lunch. Had a very enjoyable day here and well worth the drive from Sussex.

Where do I start, First of all the day out is worth every penny, the staff and everyone were super friendly. We enjoyed a Thomas and Friends day here where we got to ride on 2 different steam trains (Thomas and Percy) and enjoy all Thomas activities from dancing shows to craft activities. The model train rides were also great fun and the kids had a blast. There is also a very reasonable priced cafe in the main centre with loads of train related toys for the kids to keep them busy. There even was a steam tractor-trailer ride which the kids loved. Will definitely be back again in the near future, Thanks Bucks Railway Centre
Joe I — Google review
A fantastic museum, run and looked after by very friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and interesting volunteers. The full site is sizeable, with a huge amount of exhibits both inside and outside. For the best experience a visit on one of the steaming days is highly recommended, but the café and shop are open most days and are a delight in themselves.

Fantastic day out, great value for money. Museum opens at 1030 and first train departs at 11am. Steam train ride lasts around 17minutes but you can do it as many times as you like. Museum well laid out and informative. Cafe reasonably priced £6 for 2 hot drinks, £5 for two ice creams.

We have been coming to the Railway centre for many years and have watched it get better and better. It is a must for any transport enthusiasts and especially train fans of course. Lots to see and do for all ages. Loads of historic info for adults and older children and plenty to do for little ones as well. Miniature train rides are a great addition. Plenty of food and drink on offer especially on event days. We came back for Auto Fest which was a classic vehicle event. Loads of interesting cars and vehicles attended and there was Live music and morris dancers. Great day out for families and people who like nostalgic days out.

Great museum with lots to see. Little train running today so wonderful little ride for the kids. Large steam train running too so nice little run back and forth in the line. Plenty of information to help you along the way. Well worth a visit.

The estate, including its impressive art collections and 165 acres of garden and park, was left to the trust by James de Rothschild in the late 1950s. Today, it is overseen by Baron Jacob Rothschild through a charitable trust.
Fabulous place! I was amazed on the size, architecture and furnishings as well as the collections inside. The surrounding are is also beautiful and it’s gardens were nice too. It’s easily accessible and also offer bus ride to the house from the car park. Staff were very friendly and everything was clean and top notch. I would highly recommend a visit as there’s a lot to see. Might recommend spending a few hours to truly appreciate all of that is to see.

Really enjoyable visit to this stately home although it was built as a museum to house the possessions of the Rothschild family. Fantastic collection of art works, ceramics, tapestries and furniture and grounds. Entry needs to be pre-booked via their website there is a long walk 20 to 30 minutes from the car park to the house or you can book a shuttle bus for £2.50 return, free if you’re a blue badge holder.

Easy to find with large ticket office and excellent parking capacity inc disabled with a shuttle bus to the house and stables. Property has an interesting history and easy to walk through the various rooms. Large gardens for outdoor walking. Plenty of food and drink available. House has timed tickets available online or at the ticket office on arrival. Staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

A good wee place to explore and walk (in the garden), learn about history, architecture and art. Perfect for couples and families as they have a nice cafe(outdoor sitting) and wine shop. Some of the areas were closed when we visited(they were doing some renovation/maintenance work). They have spacious parking. Overall a very good experience.

Lovely day out, and very beautiful architecture. Lots of walking, if you like that sort of thing, which we do! The Manor's history is also fascinating. We enjoyed it here. The gardens are particularly beautiful.

We had a great family day out here, the house is beautiful and full of amazing artifacts, and all manner of priceless treasures. I enjoyed the Solomon's temple exhibit, interesting to see how it may have looked in it's original form. The grounds looked incredible with the autumn colours, and walking around a finding little hidden details was interesting. The outdoor cafe next to the gift shop had lovely, tasty food and drinks available. The gift shop was very pleasant aswell. Every interaction we had with the people working/volunteering there was very positive. Thankyou for a great time.

Beautifully kept manor. Lovely to walk around. Kids can run free and have a look at the birds. Kids also have a nice playground to go in. The whole place is pushchair friendly. There is a steep slope down to the play area and stables bit. The shuttle bus is great if you don’t like too much walking. Car park was spacious. Great day!

I think this was my most enjoyable National Trust visit. One of many Rothschild properties in the area but must be the jewel in the crown. A very good tour round the house King Louis writing desk and so much more it was just amazing. The grounds were also extensive and very beautiful

So many good memories of this place over the years Its beautiful. The gardens are stunning especially in summer. Its a perfect place for a picnic or a stroll back in time. Me and my children have grown up coming here and its never disappointed. If your disabled your carer goes free and its also discounted admission. You can spend a day or just a couple of hours in the beautiful gardens and deer park. I love that it hasn't changed that much over the years. A perfect day out ☺

This is a fantastic place to visit the Abbey has so much to see you will need to spend some time trying to take it all in. The gardens are well worth making sure you get all areas in. Picnic areas and tables dotted about for use some with shade. Toilets at various points around the site.

The gardens and deer park are lovely. I have not visited the Abbey itself yet but if you want a place to get in a walk and wonderful gardens it is great. The maze is interesting and there are several different picturesque spots throughout the garden area. The pottery and café are lovely also.

The gardens are beautiful and well worth a look. It has public toilets and a lovely little gift shop. You can picnic anywhere in the gardens. If you are disabled your carer goes free and your ticket is reduced to nearly half. They have wheelchair hire and mobility scooters for hire which help greatly. I hope this is helpful ☺

A great place to visit. The house is full of historical wonders and the staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. The gardens are glorious on a summer's day, and full of great photo opportunities. The tea house is a nice place to have lunch and reasonably priced.

Absolutely LOVED IT!!! amazing place for families, for couples for everyone I guess. Abbey is at centre of Deer park with couple of ponds which adds so much beautiful views all around. Unfortunately I cannot able to see the inside view of Abbey due to refurbishment take place and it will be back for public in 2021. You can have a very good walk in the park as well as the Woburn Old Town just meters away from this place. Also, when you drive into this park you fell like Richmond park in London. Definitely recommended!

Fantastic afternoon tea (delicious vegan and gf vegan options available) but you need to prebook your dietary requirement. On booking staff were exceptionally friendly and immediately understood vegan and GF vegan requirements. allow yourself extra time (c20mins) to get there on time as you need to check in at main gate and then drive the 2-3 miles to the house and garden entrance. tea rooms were lovely as was the impressive grounds and gardens. i happily would return with the kids for a picnic and maybe next time would take a look inside the Abbey (add on cost).

Nestled in the picturesque countryside just a short drive from the city, Herrings Green Activity Farm & Bird of Prey Centre is an enchanting destination for families seeking adventure and education. This charming farm boasts one of the UK's largest collections of birds of prey, featuring over 200 magnificent owls, eagles, and falcons. Visitors can enjoy daily flying displays that showcase these incredible creatures in action while learning fascinating facts about them.
We visited Herrings Green Activity Farm & Bird of Prey Centre as a family and had a really nice day. Our son especially enjoyed the bird of prey displays – getting to hold an owl was definitely a highlight for him. The staff were knowledgeable and made the experience interesting without overloading it with too much information. There were lots of animals around the farm, and the environment felt relaxed and friendly. One of the moments we’ll remember most was when my wife got to feed the alpacas – it was something she had always wanted to do, and it definitely made her day. The farm is well set up for families, with various play areas and activities for kids. Everything was clean and easy to navigate, and there were plenty of spots to sit or grab a snack. Overall, it was a pleasant day out – a good mix of fun, learning, and time spent outdoors. We’d recommend it to anyone looking for a calm, animal-filled day with the family.

Just back from an epic day at the Herring Green farm. My family and I had booked my husband an eagle experience which I would highly recommend. The falconer Erin was fantastical she took time to show us so many of the eagle and some eagle owls. My husband held and flew the massive beautiful birds and really enjoyed his experience. We had young children with us and there was lots to play on and keep them amused. All staff were very welcoming and friendly We went on a Sunday and it was very quiet which was perfect for us to look around.

Absolutely fantastic day out. Got the deal through virgin experiences and had an amazing day. The lady Lisa was so informative and clearly had a huge love for all the birds. Going to book to go back
Gemma C — Google review
On the positive side -The woman that did the display was fantastic. She really knew her stuff, she answered everyone’s questions and was entertaining. - Lots of amazing beautiful birds when we walked around in cages and used in the display. - They released lot of birds at a time to music which was really good to see so many flying at the same time. On the negative side - The receptionist was rude to all 4 of us when we arrived. She was clearly annoyed she had given us 4 stickers before our 2 other friends had arrived, like we’d deceived her for some reason ! She also denied telling us to wait in the field as the display had started elsewhere. We all very negative about the place before we’d even started. - The display group was far too big. We were in a group of 28 people so when the birds were being passed around we waited for ages before we could hold the birds. Also taking part in the displays took ages to include everyone. So became very boring which was a shame because the display was good otherwise. Overall, good quality but needs to be smaller groups 1/2 the time, and better reception.

Absolutely love this place. We've been here a few times now and every time I come away with some new nugget of information I never knew about the wonderful birds they have there. All the staff clearly love what they do, and what they do is so important not just for the birds but for educating the people that visit.
Loz S — Google review
I booked the 3 hour falconry experience for my dad, partner and child. They said it was absolutely brilliant and completely exceeded expectations. We were worried that 3 hours was too long and that the rain would ruin the morning, but they said it was jam packed, the group was lead by Laura who was great, there were sooo many amazing birds that each member of the group got an opportunity to hold, they watched a great display and learned a lot. The rain didn't put them off at all and everyone left very happy. On a different note, my partner said the coffee in the coffee shop was the worst he had ever tasted in his life! I did have a look and opted to go into Bedford instead to have a coffee and wait for them to finish. I guess the facilities could be better but that's not what they were there for.
Laura R — Google review
The centre has a wide range of birds of prey and a good flying exhibition. Small people can also hold an owl, which is quite special. The rest of the facilities are looking rather tired - for example there were lots of nettles growing round the kids activity area. It’s not too expensive so, on balance, a good half day out for the family.
William S — Google review
I had a 2 hour bird of prey experience and the guy in charge “Riley” was an absolute professional as well as having a sense of humour. Riley was very health and safety conscious and explained everything so we understood the birds and there behaviour whilst holding them. Riley was very knowledgeable and explained everything about each bird in a calm and controlled manner,I could easily relate and understand him completely. Each bird I held was an amazing experience from Owls all the way upto a Bald Eagle with Riley by my side watching and reassuring me every step of the way. As a member of the RSPB I could identify most of the birds but Riley’s knowledge was supreme. Riley is a massive asset to the Farm and his customer service was the best I’ve ever seen a true professional at all times. Thankyou so much for the experience of a life time 10/10 I highly recommend this bird of prey experience to anyone.i hope you remember me the big tall guy who needed a bigger glove,Thankyou again.

Shuttleworth, located at Old Warden near Biggleswade, is a family-friendly site featuring a remarkable collection of vintage aircraft and Edwardian cars. The museum was established in 1928 by aviator Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth and showcases five pre-First World War aircraft, including the oldest Bleriot XI from 1909. Additionally, visitors can explore a historic house, Swiss garden, and enjoy all-weather attractions such as a cafe and shop.
Fantastic museum with a working airfield, showcasing vintage aircraft, cars and commercial vehicles, all set within the grounds of a country estate. The grounds are shared with an attractive landscaped garden and a manor house, making Shuttleworth a full day out, with something for everyone to enjoy. All of the vehicles in the collection are maintained in operating condition, and well presented displays cover their respective histories and specifications. The hangars are easily accessible and nicely laid out. The landscaped garden features picturesque little bridges, water features, a charming thatched "Swiss cottage" and an atmospheric grotto. There's a visitor route around the garden taking in all the points of interest. Keep a look out for the resident peacocks while exploring. Parts of the manor house are open on occasion, with some interesting features to see inside. Onsite facilities are good, with a café offering refreshments and classic lunch options, a small gift shop, well maintained toilets and plenty of parking. The combination of museum, working airfield, house and gardens makes Shuttleworth a unique place, and one of the best days out in the area. The aircraft collection is surely second to none. Tickets are £17.50, and permit unlimited return access within 30 days of purchase (except on event days), representing excellent value compared with similar attractions.

Lovely place to visit for plane lovers! Didn't have have long to stay, but will be calling in again. Has a cafe, the food order came quickly but a long wait for hot drinks despite only one person in front of us. The food had arrived at our table before we got back with 2 teas!! The cafe was clean as well as the toilets.

We are so pleased to have found such a great day out so close to home. We have visited many aircraft museums, but feel we have all learned something new today. Have to thank the wonderful volunteers who enriched our visit, especially the wonderful Corinne who went above and beyond to welcome and help everyone, especially our son. The gardens are just breathtaking. We discovered our sons photography talent surrounded by nature and history. Great value too. We are already planning our next visit.

I am so extremely lucky to live locally to this amazing aircraft collection, the range of them from modern to the first ever ones made. Even if you aren’t particularly interested in planes every single aircraft in the hangars has a detailed placard about it and it’s super cool to learn about. I personally haven’t visited the cafe and i’ve seen some bad reviews and experiences so that’s the only reason i would give this a four because i feel like i’m not informed enough to give it a five. The lady that sold me the ticket was so incredibly lovely and we even had a lovely chat together, unfortunately i don’t remember her name but she was wonderful! Below i’ve attached a picture of the placard, they all have qr codes with videos of the aircraft in flight and also statistics and the story behind it.

5 mins off the A1 - ample parking, staff were very friendly and the exhibits were fabulous covering mainly 1900 - 1940 aviation and cars - all in hangers and in superb condition Food was plentiful good quality and price. We had our 9 month old grandson and all the staff fully engaged with him making him laugh Ticket valid for 30 days - definitely worth a visit

The air display was wonderful in spite of changes to the schedule because of high winds. It was the first time I've been round the gardens and the ground floor of the house. Both were thoroughly enjoyable.

We had our wedding here earlier this year and selected the Brothers Supper as our caterer. We had the most incredible day the staff were so welcoming and helpful especially with my mother who has some disabilities which I really appreciated. The house itself had plenty of lifts and stair lift to help her manouever around which was a big requirement for us. The food was so tasty and nothing was too much trouble for the managers and staff. We would recommend both the venue and caterer anytime to anyone.

Just a fabulous museum, we absolutely loved it. HOWEVER THE reception wasn't too great towards my visually impaired Mum in a wheelchair, actually the young lady at the desk on arriving was quite rude and condescending , we decided to forgive her and not let it ruin our special day out - she was probably awaiting A level results and trying to earn a bit of pocket money- that's what I said to Mum afterwards, however, Manners and Empathy cost nothing, it wasn't the greatest welcome for us, actually for me as the daughter/carer it was excruciating and embarrassing, swiping Mums card for £48 for the privilege of being dismissed as nothings. Yes all 3 of us are OAPs. Cafe was OK but the usual overpriced bought in stale scones not even warmed up , jam extra, cream more extra. In my opinion as a veteran of visiting museums all over the UK - the exhibits are wonderful, but the rest needs to get its act together, I was glad to leave. Advice to Shuttleworth? Be much more welcoming to your paying visitors especially if blind and asking a question. It was embarrassing for me taking my Mum for a special day out. But the Museum itself is breathtaking- Absolutely go here for a brilliant day out - aviation history, wonderfully researched, fabulous planes. And you might see a plane taking off or landing Which is what my Mum was asking about in the first place at reception for us. There were no volunteers here - not like at the MK Museum, where they have numerous experts explaining exibits, but not here- it was almost an ethereal experience being amongst the exhibits in huge hangers, totally alone and isolated. Rather odd. So you do need to be able to see at this venue. It is not blind friendly. Nor even friendly, and I can see fine.

Took my uncle here for a day out. He loved it especially the gardens. Shuttleworth Collection is an amazing array of historic planes and vehicles, all of which are fully functional. A credit to all the workers and volunteers there. Often go just to visit the cafe and there is usually some interesting aircraft outside or nice cars or motorbikes visiting. If you become a member of the SVAS you get discount on food and drinks and free entry to the museum.

Six or seven capacious hangars housing a unique collection of some of the earliest aircraft, and definitely the earliest warplanes. They are in spectacular order, many airworthy, with an operating airfield adjacent where, on my visit, there were Tiger Moths, a Dragon Rapide, Spitfire and visiting Hurricane. There is a cafe with outside seating, and ample parking.
Trevor S — Google review
The collection of aircraft was remarkable, showcasing a diverse range of aviation history. Visitors could marvel at the meticulously preserved vintage planes, each with its unique story. The presence of a powerful jet added a thrilling contrast to the quieter, older aircraft. The sheer scale and variety of the exhibits provided an immersive experience for any aviation enthusiast. The overall presentation of the aircraft was truly impressive and educational. Airshow 2025

Mead Open Farm is a family-friendly destination with a variety of activities for both animal lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The farm offers an animal petting zone, indoor play areas, high ropes course, go karts, and tractor rides. Visitors can enjoy interacting with animals such as pony grooming, feeding lambs, holding rabbits, and cheering on sheep racing. Shaggy's Play World provides over 13,000 square feet of indoor play space with giant drop slides and a net climber.
Had a fantastic time at Mead Open Farm for a birthday party! The soft play area is a hit for all ages, featuring exhilarating slides—including one almost vertical for the older kids—and a giant climbing frame in the outdoor play area that kept everyone entertained. The farm itself is lively, with a great variety of animals adding to the charm. While it’s an overall great experience, just keep an eye on the smallest ones as there are a few dodgy spots that could use extra supervision. Overall, it’s a brilliant venue for a memorable day out! The outside play area is a real highlight—spacious and perfect for a day out. There’s plenty of room for kids to explore and enjoy activities like the big climbing frame, making it a fantastic spot for active play. Plus, the picnic area is well laid out, offering a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal outdoors. With food options available on site, you can easily refuel without having to leave the fun behind. All in all, it’s a well-rounded destination that makes for a delightful family outing!

We had a wonderful time visiting for the Dino week. There were plenty of activities for the whole family, and our son especially enjoyed the "Time warp challenge" interactive show and the dino disco. The dinosaurs and cavemen were very entertaining 🤣 Our son would have happily followed them all day if we had let him. Not once did they break character. The play areas were a massive hit, both the indoor (which has a great selection of slides) and the outdoor. The cafe was good, a decent price, and had a great selection of cakes (the lemon doughnut was particularly yummy!) The animals all looked well cared for, and as with most farms, they offered lamb feeding and small animal petting, although we did not do this. There are plenty of handwashing stations if you do feed or touch the animals. We would definitely return and will look at booking for the Christmas event!

Mead Open Farm has become a family favourite for us! No matter how many times we visit, we always find a new adventure. The hands on fun of petting and feeding the animals is a great. The number of activities is incredible, from the silent disco and racing gokarts to the big inflatable ball that the kids can roll around in water. The new pirate themed splash park is a fantastic and welcome addition! Even the British weather can't spoil the fun, thanks to the massive indoor soft play centre with few nice slides. It's an action packed day out that we highly recommend.

I don’t know wheee to begin. This place is AMAZING!! Finally got to go with the whole family today and there was something for everyone. The kids really enjoyed it. It’s such a unique offering. With both the farm animals which are so well groomed and looked after… to so many posh and adventure options. It’s a full day. It’s great value of money. We were thinking of going to a theme park but with our one year old we felt it would have been too much with all the queues. We are so happy we chose Mead. Was a stress free day. No long queues. Good food. And so much to choose from. The foam party was definitely a hit at the end!!!! Just go!!!!!
Cabrice S — Google review
Very mixed feelings about the farm. Comparing to others in Hertfordshire this is quite expensive for what you get. In terms of animals, if you are after goats and rabbits than that's the place. Other animals you can see - cows in the field, pigs in their little boxes. Soft play area nice. Food average, typical, popcorn chicken and chips from kids menu was ok. Play area spacious and well maintained. Will I come back? Not sure.

Absolutely beautiful. We come here every now and then and it’s always great for a walk with the dogs, on your own, or I say hello to my grandpa whose ashes are scatted here. There’s loads of space for flying kites and watching the gliders take off. The cafe is dog friendly, which is amazing. Not impressed with the jams sold there, it’s not local, it’s simply just store bought and relabelled.

Parking is £3.50 or free if you’re a National Trust member. Incredible views and walks, especially for dog walking. The main hill overlooks the London Gliding Club so it’s good fun to watch the tow planes taking off. Theres a dedicated area for kit flying too. There is a large national trust cafe and shop atop the hill, prices are not too bad and the shop stocks some lots of locally produced products (jam, honey, oil, chutneys).

Fantastic service, they also have mobility scooters and small bikes for children under 5. I was surprise how well prepared the kiosk was.. There is possibility to use their overcoats, raincoats, warm blouses and wellies if u forgot but for lids only under 10... absolutely great idea... I noticed there are some activities going on and there was full list of things but i lost leaflet. We used main building for loo and its large and clean. We bougt second hand books !!! another great idea. It all looks really nicely run. All great! Views amazing. Was a bit windy but we enjoyed looking at gliding planes and it wax such fun. We are going back soon...

A nice place with a good scenic view for a day out, but the public toilets and café closed very early, around 5 pm. More concerning is the lack of public toilets, especially considering the needs of families, children, and younger visitors who often stay quite late. Quite disappointing, considering the management team's awareness of the fact that toilets are essential. Even though they shut the toilet doors at 5 pm, they could have implemented a payment system to allow the toilets to be used. I notice people are going to the loo behind the trees. Overall, a good place to visit, but considering the basic amenities, I suggest avoiding it, especially if you are travelling with small children.

Great place to visit ! Has a nice cafe with great lunch and breakfast menus along with tea and coffee options . Views from this place are amazing and also the walk on the paths are great too ! Parking seems reasonable too . Arrived around 1:30 pm and it was only £3 till 8 pm . It is pretty windy near the cafe but is a great place to fly kites which you can bring your own or buy from the cafe ( but expensive though cheapest one is £14) . Overall a great place to visit. Would definitely come again on a sunny day !!

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is the largest zoo in the United Kingdom, covering 600 acres in the Chiltern Hills. It houses over 2,500 animals, including zebras, lions, penguins, and ostriches. The zoo offers tours, adventure play areas, and educational classes for visitors of all ages. Guests can witness cheetah cubs, elephants, tigers, lions, rhinos and giraffes up close.
We visited Whipsnade Zoo today as a birthday treat for me. As with every other time of visiting Whipsnade we had the best day. Today was great as it was quieter and the weather was amazing also. We got to see nearly all the animals and the staff were lovely. BIG shout out to the volunteer staff!! We had some great conversations with various volunteers. The food was very good and a simple but effective menu caters for all. The gift shop is great and not overly pricey. Thoroughly enjoyed today. Thank you to all the staff at the zoo!!

I had a wonderful day at Whipsnade zoo today. Highlights of the day were the brown bear, elephants, rhino’s, giraffes and the birds of the world show. Didn’t see the lynx which was a shame. Didn’t see a lion only a lioness and some cubs. 1 star lost because the tigers enclosure seemed really small and the tiger looked sad pacing around the enclosure. I also felt sad for the chimpanzee who seemed like it was having fun and was very entertaining but again enclosure felt small. Park could also do with more signage to help navigate the way around as although map on the app is good would still be good to have more signage as the grounds are huge and easy to take a wrong path. I also went on the steam train which was £5 for adults but I wouldn’t go on it again. Very big ground with loads of viewpoints and lots of walking however lots of places to sit along the way and plenty of small shops providing snacks and some provide food like hotdogs at £8.50 a pop. I much prefer this zoo to London zoo, I feel like you have better sight of the animals in comparison. One other perk about this zoo is that you can drive around the grounds with an additional fee. There is also free parking with easy access to the zoo. There is also an app with a live moving map which helps you navigate around the park very good.

We had a wonderful day out with the family. It’s a large venue, so comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. Families with young children may find a buggy useful, as there’s plenty of ground to cover. Visitors can bring their own packed lunch or enjoy the selection of cafés and restaurants available throughout the site and near the entrance.

First time visiting, absolutely loved it, an amazing day. The enclosures were lovely and spacious, all areas lovely and clean, staff we spoke to were so helpful. We had afternoon tea at view point, which was lovely and the staff really friendly. The day was just brilliant, would highly recommend a visit.

Had a fantastic time visiting whipsnade zoo .. travelled all the way from North Wales.. Easy to find and access ♿ parking was just great for my wife. So much to see and do here for the whole family.. Loved seeing how much open area the animals had to enjoy compared with other zoos.. The zoo covers quite an area.. and it can be explored many ways..foot. train..or by car... Yes if mobility is an issue like my wife it can still be easily explored.. We seen a bus going around..sign simply said..Hail bus driver to stop..jump on a train which was around £5 .. Otherwise drive the car around and stop and explore where you want.. plenty of parking on the side of the road... please drive safely!!.. There is part of the zoo where you can only explore by car or taking the train.. Feels like your on safari.. amazing time When we visited they were giving the flamingo's a health check.. you were invited to ask anything you wanted.. Fantastic interactive experience Cafés , toilets and picnic areas are ample and dotted around the park.. Gift shop as like most places near the exit... Would love to visit again in the future as one visit is simply not enough to see and enjoy everything whipsnade has to offer...

Whipsnade Zoo is in a beautiful location of Dunstable Downs, there is a free car park off site and charge for car to enter, blue badges are free, you can drive around the whole park and there is parking spots at each area of the Zoo so you can view the animals at safe distance. It’s a favourite Zoo of mine due to care of the animals and the enclosures are well maintained. If you visit now you may find parts of the Zoo is being improved and some enclosures updated and cleaned, so some of the animals are relocated, the kangaroos are free roaming the zoo and can be approached but best respect nature. The only part of the experience that requires the most improvement is the toilets most are not regularly cleaned or look clean, the restaurants and food vendors do not offer quality food, the sandwiches were not that appetising and the hotdogs were served in baguette, I didn’t understand the combo nor did my palate. Not that they need a fast food chain there but better menu of food and quality would justify the insane prices like £2 for a bag of crisps. Overall I still recommend this as a great family day out but bring your own lunches and snacks.

THE BUS IS BRILLIANT! Whipsnade is an awesome zoo but the bus service elevates the experience even further! Lots of walking and make sure you dress warmly, but if you get tired legs then the bus is perfect. Can't fault it. Such a friendly driver (Gary) and they come round every 20 mins. Thank you so much
Olivia C — Google review
This zoo is possibly one of my favorite ones I have been to. The animals have so much space and the possibility to just hide away if that is what they want. We were there on a cloudy temperate day that made the animals more active so we got to see a lot of them. We saw the penguin talk and the bird show, both are very much recommended, but especially the bird show was super well done and very enriching. I have been about 5 times the last ten years and every time has been a great experience.

National Trust - Wimpole Estate is a picturesque country estate in South Cambridgeshire, featuring a grand mansion, stunning parkland, and walled gardens. The Wimpole Estate Walk offers breathtaking views of rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and meandering streams. Visitors can explore the beautiful house with its rich history and enjoy various amenities such as tea rooms, shops, picnic areas, and a family-friendly farm park.
Great house full of history, the very knowledgeable staff members explained everything about the house and it's former owners. The walled garden had hundreds of plants and shrubs. The estate is huge, if you aren't good at walking the flat pathways there's a shuttle bus for those with mobility issues. We used it to get around the quite long distances between sites.
David B — Google review
We've been to Wimpole Hall and Farm many times over recent years but we have not been inside the house for some time. What a treasure it is! Forgot what a beautiful stately home it was inside and out plus also the connection to Rudyard Kipling is notable and not something I recall before. Entry ticket now includes the Home Farm (previously was an additional charge) which we didn't get time to visit but it's well worth it. They have also in recent years improved the car park and make it more accessible for less abled visitors. The grounds are large too so you can easily spend the full day there if needed.
Stu R — Google review
Beautiful grounds, walked for hours. Fantastic walled garden. Cute tiny baby piglets! Cafes for coffees and snacks. Stunning collection of trees, herbs, flowers. Definitely worth a visit.
DK G — Google review
A lovely day out. Almost spoilt by the staff wanting to kick us out of the manor because it was almost time to lock up. That's for a different day if I visit again and it's the same. The manor is beautiful, with exquisite rooms and a gorgeous library. The grounds are remarkable. The amount of money it would have needed for upkeep alone is mind blowing. The cafe was a little under stocked, but the restaurant just a stones throw away made up for that. Nothing beats ab ice cold drink or ice cream on a British summer day 🙂 I took my family (8yo and wife) along with our friends (13yo, 9yo, and the parents). We enjoyed our 5 hour visit, walking everywhere from the woods, to the farm, and then to the manor. The farm is a working farm with historic buildings which are very imposing. I loved them. It was worth having our National Trust membership. Ample parking, and parking for parents + disability needs. A clean well looked after site which I wouldn't mind visiting again.
I S — Google review
The building is quite grand and the interior decoration is beautiful. It takes about half an hour to tour the entire building. If this National Trust attraction only had this building, it would feel rather monotonous. However, since it originally provided a garden and form, you can spend a whole day here, so it is also a place worth visiting as a combination. You will often see families playing in the attraction. In addition, the vast garden also provides children's play facilities. In my opinion, compared with the National Trust attractions I have visited, the facilities here are very rich and sufficient.
Zen C — Google review
I loved every bit of it. We covered everything in 2:30 hours but that was a bit of rush. I could have spend the whole day here. It's the best one I visited by far. I am definitely visiting again with plenty of time in my hand. Play area, Farm animals, house and walled garden - oh my god they all are worth seeing. I was also lucky to have the best weather too on the day however I would visit again regardless of weather anytime soon.

Wimpole Home Farm is a working farm located on the grounds of an 18th-century estate. Established in 1794, it now serves as a center for rare breeds and heavy horses. Visitors can enjoy grooming donkeys and exploring attractions such as the Victorian Dairy, thatched Great Barn, and children's play area. The farm offers stunning gardens and well-cared-for animals, making it ideal for leisurely walks with picturesque views.
Love the farm. I did wonder if the number of animals had been reduced. Lovely to see a family atmosphere . Wished we had come down early and seen the talks ,the feeding times. Please don't turn it into a zoo. So many places do this. Love to see a farm be a farm. Cafe is a great idea as it is a walk back to the restaurant. Meal deals are reasonable too.. Will be back

I wrote a review about the Wimpole estate - this farm is a part of that site. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit - the animals, the buildings! The farm was a lovely site, and well looked after. The thatch roofed barns are amazing! Definitely worth visiting if you go to the estate.

We had a beautiful day visiting here with our extended family. The gardens especially are just beautiful. The cafes served a small selection of food , cakes and drinks which we tried and enjoyed. Lots of our family members took picnics though and there where so many places we could have sat for one. The farm itself isn't huge but is really interesting, the kids enjoyed it and we loved the shire horses. There is a wonderful playground that the children loved too. There is so much to see here around the estate but it is a lot of walking though, so be warned. We went in the summer holidays and the car parks were packed and it was very busy. We would happily go again to explore more.
Lesleyanne C — Google review
In addition to the garden, I think this farm is a must-visit place here. You can see many animals in the farm, including big chickens of different colors, very cute but smelly pigs, and very huge horses that are taller than humans. Both adults and children can happily talk to the animals here. There are two feeding times in the pig shed every day. If time permits, it is worth visiting here. However, please note that the staff will not let tourists sit there in person, but the staff will give the feed to the pigs at a specific time. Then you will see the pigs barking continuously, which is very spectacular! There is a cafe next to the farm. There are also play facilities for children. When the weather is hot, you can take a break. There is also a small building that introduces the process and information of selling milk on this farm in the past.

Visitors can explore woodlands, chalk downlands, and open commons on foot or by bike. The estate boasts vibrant seasonal displays including bluebells in spring and colorful foliage in autumn. Nature enthusiasts can spot rare butterflies, fallow deer, and various bird species while enjoying the picturesque surroundings.
Busy place with lots of parking. A 100ft+ monument you can climb to the lookout. Beautiful woodland. Great to wear out the kids exploring the woods and for dog walking.

It's a great place for the walkers, two, and four-legged. There are plenty of woodland trails to take, with a great trail for wheelchair users. There is a lovely cafe/ restaurant there with plenty of seating, outside and in. A delicious ploughman's for around £11, good value. The car park is free, but the trust asks for a small donation of £2, but it's voluntary. I went on a Thursday, and it seemed very popular.

We love Ashridge. Lovely way marked paths that include some suitable (if you are strong & have a robust wheelchair) for wheelchairs. A good amount of parking - don’t forget the £2 voluntary contribution. Good shop and cafe and there are often some activities for children. It is wonderful walking among the trees. Keep your eyes peeled and you way we’ll see deer.

We love ashridge. Lots of accessible walks, natural play spaces, gift shop and a nice cafe. Free to park which a big bonus, although we are NT members anyway. Amazing colours in autumn and always lovely for a walk, whatever the season.

Fantastic place for walking your dog in the forest or just walk around with children. It has four different main routes but you can just get lost wherever you want. There is a nice cafe with a seating area, a shop and toilet facilities by the main car park.
Andrea U — Google review
Great place for a walk. Plenty of parking (free if national trust member otherwise a donation box) Has toilets, cafe, shop and some boards with different walks. We did the foresters walk which said 3 miles in 2 hours. We weren't walking quickly and got back in much less than 2 hours. Pleasant walk through the woods. Also went up the monument for some great views (much higher than it looks from the bottom!) Definitely recommend visiting here.
Sam S — Google review
I was a National Trust member for quite some time, and used to visit Dockey Wood to enjoy the bluebells every year, up until four years ago when the bluebell woods was overrun with brambles. Even though after numerous complaints about how it was neglected they started putting up signs. They started leaving lots of branches for barriers in a claim to stop people from treading over the bluebells. It looked a mess. They left signs saying how they wanted to protect the bluebells, and then it was for forestry reasons why they left the brambles there. They claimed they didn’t have to do anything as it was originally a commercial forest but for the benefit of the public they were going to charge them for the benefit of looking at brambles and dead branches. There is a slightly lesser known larger bluebell area the opposite the road to Docky wood. It was perfectly shaded. It wasn’t open, and no major deforestation had ever taken place in that area for some time, and the bluebells flourished. However, last year they put barriers up in the car park by Docky Wood, and I noticed a lot of tree trunks and forestry notices going up. Today I’ve walked to the secret bluebell area which is now covered in tree debris. A whole area of forest has disappeared leaving the area wide open. All of the tree debris is all over the emerging bluebells, including lots of trees that have been felled to get the large machinery right through the centre of the Bluebells. There were originally small paths through the bluebells, which they then blocked with signs saying don’t come up this path badgers beware. But obviously when it suits them most there is now great big 2 track tree felling machine tracks straight through those little paths. The single paths are now large double track mud holes, which have trampled over the bluebells, and have effectively devastated an absolutely gorgeous bluebell wood. It’s quite clear that the tree felling has got nothing to do with the protecting the bluebells but all to do with the financial gain they’re going to get from the high price of wood. They could have put the tree debris anywhere else in their 500 ha area of forest and yet they chose to dump all of the trees and debris and cut down lovely well established trees and dump it on all of the bluebells. Great job, Ashridge estate.

A fantastic place for a peaceful walk in nature! I recently explored this National Trust site, and the trails winding through the wooded areas were absolutely beautiful. It's a lovely spot to clear your head, with plenty of benches along the way to sit down, rest, and take in the views. The cafe and gift shop are great stops if you fancy a quick break or a small souvenir, and there are some nice pubs within walking distance if you want to extend your walk. Overall, it's a wonderful choice for anyone looking for a refreshing and scenic walk. Highly recommend!

The Hellfire Caves, located just outside the village of West Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, offer a unique and thrilling underground exploration experience. This man-made cave network extends 300ft underground and was once used by the mysterious 18th Century high-society Hellfire Club for their secret meetings. Visitors can take tours to discover underground passages, chambers, and perhaps even encounter the caves' reputed ghosts.
Interesting place. Have passed this so many times and wanted to visit. It was worth the visit, lovely small cafe before you enter, inside is very good. Took a walk to the Church and Mausoleum, again steeped in history. We had lunch at The Walled Garden, lots to choose from and very nice

Excellent alternative day out. Caves are easy to get through and we'll looks after. Loads of fun history in the place as well. Would love to have done more in the area but most was taken up by Netflix filming but will definitely go back and try again. Walled cafe also a good treat in the area. Food was good quality and there was no long wait for service.

Really cool spot to explore. We rented a car to visit Diddly Squat Farm from London and stopped by here for our 12 year old. Chilly underground while it was sweltering at the surface. We climbed up to the mausoleum and the views were amazing.

Hell fire caves as most know has an amazing history and very creepy complicated past which was amazing to learn about and also research myself the caves were amazing the craftsmanship was definitely something to visit not to mention it is DEFINITELY haunted so not for the weak haha but we loved it. Will probably visit again in the future!
Lauren L — Google review
Amazing little secret if you know about it. I stumbled across this and it was a fantastic visit with a great little coffee shop at the entrance that you don't need to actually buy a ticket to use. I will be visiting again with the family, and let them experience the caves. Great half term visit.
JPJ A — Google review
Brilliant visitor attraction and worth the experience. There are lots of stories about the caves that are brought to life through interpretation panels, wax model displays, and audio. I did find the audio a bit loud and at times distracting, can be a bit of a sensory overload. Would be great if they have a “quiet time” for people who need it. But failing that I’d recommend bringing some ear defenders or noise cancelling headphones. It can be cold in the caves so wear layers. And I can see that it could be slippery so good shoes are a must. There is a cafe on site, and further down the hill at The Walled Garden cafe.
Laura H — Google review
We found these caves by chance as we went to this area for another event. They had a Halloween event on at these on the 26th October when we visited and there were people dressed up down in the caves with spooky decorations and scenes setup down there too. It was great the caves are very interesting and the history that goes along with them is great too. There is a little cafe at the menu entrance which is very fairly priced. The staff were friendly and polite. If you are in the area I would recommend a visit to these caves.

Very interesting and fun set of caves to explore and learn about. The visit was quite short and it gets a little cold down there. My daughter was a little scared from the darkness and atmosphere but it wasn't too bad.

Hughenden Manor, a captivating National Trust property located in High Wycombe, invites visitors to explore the rich history of its former resident, Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. From 1848 to 1881, this stunning country house served as his home and later played a secret role during World War II as a target map-making base known as Operation Hillside.
A great opportunity to look behind the scenes of one of Britain's greatest and innovative prime ministers. Fascinating home and beautiful gardens, with the added history of a secret war time map making facility. Very enthusiastic and informative guides. An incredible abundance of apples and fruit in the orchards.

Well looked after grounds, well tended gardens and beautifully managed Manor House. The facilities are more than adequate and volunteers are helpful and knowledgeable to explain and answer questions. However, we found the lights were very dim in most of the rooms downstairs and it was difficult to see or read the information provided in the pamphlets and walls.

No queues, not a lot of people and one of the most comprehensible and easy to navigate National Trust houses in England. Absolutely fascinating to learn more about English history; Disraeli, wartime mapping, and secrecy. Knowledgeable staff who like what they are doing. We visited on a glorious sunny weekday afternoon. A light lunch to start, nothing really special, served quickly and efficiently. The house is very well presented and the gardens are a delight to walk around and sit and admire while reclining in a deck chair.

Lovely building with a fascinating story. Loved all of the information on the production of the maps during WW2, especially interesting that they are still finding out about people who were there during that time. Cafe has plenty of seating with the usual menu of quality fare. The gardens are gorgeous and extensive.

The Wycombe Swan Theatre is a significant venue in High Wycombe, offering a diverse program of local, national, and international arts performances. The town also boasts attractions such as a 12th-century parish church, a popular museum, and the recently developed Eden Shopping Centre. Despite modern developments, the town maintains its historic market on the High Street which has been operating for over 700 years.
Had a great night out at the swan theatre. The theatre itself is big enough but not so that you feel detached from the show when seated in the upper circle's. Parking is adequate if you get there early.. leaving can be a slower process too as everyone rushes to get out all at once with it being a narrow multi story carpark. Would definitely return for another show.

An evening with Omid Djalili was full of laughter and I also learned a lot about Iran which was amazing and heartfelt and stories about courageous women. I loved every minute. I would recommend this fantastic show. It was the first time I heard of this comedian who supports Omid Djalili is named Boothby Graffoe and he was hilarious and funny and I can't wait for him to have his own show because he deserves it because he was so funny. So if you want an evening of laughter then this is the show for you. Also the car park is next to the theatre but the negative about the car is if you had a big car I would not advise you park there because the car parking spaces are small and advise to look for some where else to park otherwise you might be there for along time and miss part of the show because I did notice a lot of people coming in late after the show had started.

Visited for the first time to see Ghost Stories on tour. I was really impressed by the quality of the staff but also the cleanliness and the comfort of the seats. We were seated in the front and there was a lot of space for the legs and the seats were comfy. In fact better than some London theatres. However the theatre isn’t very well decorated and vintage which is the only downside of it. But it isn’t a big issue really! I will come back again in the future to see more shows.

Saw Molly Vickers dance show. It was amazing. I know there were a few technical issues the day before, but today ran very smoothly. Seating is good too. High enough over the seat in front to have a good view of the whole stage

Went with a wheelchair user. Very good assistance and accommodation for disabled patrons. My one complaint is that there is no access to the bar area for wheelchairs, even though there is a lift from the floor above. The ground floor lift is undergoing works ATM, but all they need is to open access from above.
Pierre G — Google review
We went by train which is so convenient for the theatre as you come out of the train station go across the bridge and the theatre is in the buildings on the other side. The theatre staff were organised and friendly. The show was great, a theatre where you are allowed to get up in your seat and dance to the music. I have found recently this is not always the case in other theatres.
Mandy J — Google review
Well organised theatre. Plenty of parking nearby, train station steps away! Ample seating , bar & cafe available while waiting for the show to start. Seating in the theatre is spacious, plenty of leg room.
ANGIE W — Google review
The venue is easy to find and a short distance to parking, although the queue to pay at the end is long as there are only two machines we could see. Regarding the venue itself: The hall is big, the PA could have been louder. The seats are uncomfortable as hell, and narrow. For late comers in the middle of the row, everyone has to get up and even out as the rows are close together too. In winter must be fun managing coats and drinks! The view challenging for short people as it’s not tiered in the close to the stage seats. The queues for the toilets long but toilets were clean. The drinks at the bar are reasonable but service is slow - it’s always slow in theatres so not a surprise. Staff is helpful and nice. I’m not going back to this venue again.

I visited Gordon Craig Theatre to see Man In The Mirror - A Michael Jackson Tribute. The theatre was clean and tidy. The toilets were clean. There was a well stocked bar. The show was very good and a lovely evening out.

Went to see granddaughter in a production. Would not be inclined to visit when dark. Route from train station to theatre entrance was unkempt and we could not see any surveillance cameras. It didn't feel too safe. The theatre itself was ok and the seats had plenty of leg room.

The reception at Partyman World of Play was bustling due to multiple events taking place. The young woman manning the front desk provided exceptional customer service, efficiently addressing inquiries and even promoting membership opportunities. During the wait, she explained the various types of frames and shared information about bear-making and party options. A quick response from a man with blonde hair in a bun resolved a minor incident inside the frames. Although food service took longer than usual due to high demand, this was expected given the busy atmosphere.
Great place to take the kids for a couple of hours, there's plenty of seats to sit and watch them enjoy themselves and the cafe has a good selection of food and drink, which is reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Really good venue for kids party, kids got looked after on soft play & also had songs & games to join in. Food was decent too & felt there was also ample space for adults too. Coffee etc available
Mennel W — Google review
I absolutely hate to leave bad reviews but sadly this place was the dirtiest soft play centre I’ve ever been to with my son. We were the first in, I had to ask for sticky lollies to be cleaned off the toddler slide, I cleaned up fizzy sweets from the recycling truck, the play equipment is dusty everywhere and sticky in areas, the whole place needs a good clean. Hardly any balls in the actual ball pits also. On a plus side the staff were very sweet happy people!
Becks T — Google review
A wonderful place, I can easily say that they care about the cleanliness of their venue, the entire time I’ve been here the staff have been cleaning one way or another. A few of the climbing ladders could use a refurb, as some have your foot slipping through to the harder surface, However if you are able to guide your child over it it’s not a huge issue. My 2 year old loved it for his first time at a soft play (and so did his dad!!)
K.B P — Google review
Visited today with my toddler (2yrs) and met her friends (3yrs and a 11 month old). First visit for us and it was amazing. Love the addition of the staff dance party she enjoyed a boogie. A range of soft play for different ages which was ideal for us. Nice cafe too. Enola, Priscilla and Braidy were so friendly and good with the kids. Will be visiting again! Highly recommend.
Carrie-Ann S — Google review
Always enjoy coming here, the price is good and a nice big area for the kids to run around in. There’s a separate area for babies, toddler and older kids. The staff are friendly and polite. There’s a tall man with short hair who is great with the kids. Sometimes it is a pain to leave as staff seem to have to main the cafe and front desk at the same time.
Hannah — Google review
The staff here are fantastic. Polite and helpful. The food is good value. Drinks a little expensive but nothing unusual for a soft play. The soft play itself could be cleaner that why I've given 4 stars and not 5. Dust in places. Your socks are very dirty after a few hours here! The cleaning needs to be better in the soft play and the whole place in general.
Kaylie C — Google review
Reception was full as I think there was a couple of events going on or something but we was seen by a woman on reception with outstanding customer service she was very young however knew what she was doing. She answered all the questions we had and even encouraged us to get a membership which we are going to be setting up soon. Whilst we were waiting she explained the difference between all the frames told us about making a bear told us information about parties she was friendly and helpful. There was a little incident inside the frames and a man with blonde hair in a bun dealt with it very quickly. The food took quite some time but it was to be expected as it was very busy. Two girls on the stage dancing looked very happy to be there. We will be coming back but hopefully when it’s a bit quieter🙂

Very big nice park with lakes and aqua park/ water activities. Can do very long walks here with or without a dog. Many people cycle here too. There is fishing in the big water activities lake of that takes your fancy. Plenty of geese around. There's a cafe and toilets at the car park by the big lake Also a big play ground / water park for the kids as well as a smaller play area right alongside the big lake. Really lovely to come for a walk or sit down. Nice view over the hill too.

Great space for both children and adults! It has everything here including Play area, fishing, splash park, picnic benches, wall climbing, sailing, lakes, ponds, walks and a fully stocked cafe serving hot and cold food as well as ice cream and coffees. Toilets available too as well as plenty of grassland for the kids to run around. Definitely a place to visit!

Ample car parking. Clear instructions near the entrance way. Clean and maintained.

The activity was great for the kids, the staff were very friendly and the system they have works well. There is hot food and coffee available at the cafe however the only bad point i have to make is about the toilets inside the cafe, there is a hygien issue, it looks and smells as if they havent been cleaned properly in months. The smell is unbearable and the walls are filthy, for that reason i refused to buy the family food there.

I recently attended the Taste of the Caribbean festival and had an incredible experience. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, with a true celebration of Caribbean culture throughout the day. The entertainment was fantastic, with a lively live band that kept the crowd dancing and engaged. The food was absolutely amazing – full of authentic flavours and a great variety to choose from. It was also a very family-friendly event, with something for everyone to enjoy. I felt completely safe the entire time, and the overall vibe was warm, joyful, and energetic. I’d definitely recommend Taste of the Caribbean to anyone looking for a fun, cultural, and well-organised day out. Can’t wait for the next one!

Fairlands Valley Lake is one of Stevenage’s most scenic outdoor spots, perfect for anyone who enjoys peaceful walks and natural beauty. The trails around the lake offer a relaxing route surrounded by greenery, open skies, and the calming sound of water. Visitors can watch ducks and geese gliding across the lake, take in the fresh air, and enjoy moments of quiet reflection. It’s especially stunning at sunrise and sunset, when the light dances across the water, creating breathtaking views that make every visit feel special.

Lovely open park with 2 big lakes. Perfect for walking, jogging, picnic, or just lying on the grass and relaxing. Very family friendly as well. There is a cafe with toilet. Knebworth House is a grand Tudor stately home with extensive gardens that have been the site of major rock concerts, including performances by Oasis, Robbie Williams, and Led Zeppelin. Beyond its musical legacy, the estate offers guided tours of the historic house dating back over 500 years and features sprawling 250-acre gardens with formal gardens, a large adventure playground, and a dinosaur trail showcasing over 70 prehistoric creatures.
Attended for a company event. The house and estate are superb. Wonderfully kept and beautiful to view. We found all the staff to be really helpful and polite and very efficient. We are now considering visiting the estate when it is open for normal business as there was vast areas we didn't explore. Really worth a visit.

What a beautiful house. Went for a guided tour, which was very informative and entertaining. It’s really worth it. Did a little walk around the gardens, which aren’t huge. But so nicely kept. I would revisit sometime as it’s a calm place to walk around. Nice cafe too. All staff are friendly and approachable.

Had a great day out here in the house and gardens. My only criticism was that the day we visited, the house was guided visits only - no mention of this when we booked. It was useful to hear about the history of the house, but we felt a bit rushed and not really able to fully look around each room.

Grand stately home, eclectic gardens with wild west fort, dinosaur trail, maze and formal gardens. All alongside the history of Indian viceroys, Hollywood movies and famous music concerts

Beautiful Tudor house, the stewards are very knowledgeable and approachable. Loving what they do. The family still live there, which gives the whole place a homely feel. The gardens are well kept . Great rock Festival exhibition with posters, soundtracks, and videos. Cafe offering good, well stocked, service area a bit confusing. Lots of picnicking space in grounds. Can't wait to go back!

Beautiful historic home and grounds. The home itself is beautiful and guided tours available which we did and definitely worth it. Not that expensive. Lovely grounds and gardens, with a lot of walking to do if you so wish :) great on a lovely sunny day. Theres a dinosaur trail aswell which is great for kids and dino fans alike. Theres alsos a play park which i didnt directly go to but can see and its quite a large one. Lovely cafe with good food and drinks available including veggie options. Toilets were clean with nappy changing toilet available too.

We had an amazing day at Knebworth House! The historic home was absolutely fascinating—truly a magical place that’s stayed on my mind ever since 🤩. The kids’ activities were spot on, and both of my children had a fantastic time. The adventure playground was a definite highlight! I highly recommend visiting, especially for families with kids. We loved every moment ❤️

Excellent adventure playground for little ones. Outdoor obstacle course with swings, little houses, zip lines, A huge fort with towers and slides. Also some huge mat slides. Perfect for picnics - no picnics allowed in house gardens however you can around the adventure playground. Worth noting you can walk across the grounds to the house from the playground or vice versa however about 1.2k apart across bumpy grass so you may want to drive. The gardens around the house are not really buggy friendly apart from across the grass. Wilderness walk/trails where dinosaurs are is definitely not buggy friendly. Adventure playground has decent toilets/changing area and a small cafe operating out of a shipping container/shed. 10:30 opening time which wished it was a bit earlier especially with younger children. Grounds were lovely and had a great day out!

National Trust - Cliveden offers luxurious accommodations in the form of plush rooms, suites, and cottages set on a lavish estate. The estate features various walking trails suitable for all ages and abilities, including family-friendly routes and more challenging paths with stunning views over the Thames. Visitors can tailor their walks to explore formal gardens, tree-lined avenues, or riverside woodland. Additionally, there are opportunities to tour the grand house on selected days and enjoy activities such as visiting the play den and maze.
Day trip to Cliveden to visit the gardens and enjoy a long walk through the woods and by the Thames with a friend. Saw lots of nature - red kites, deer, goslings, ducklings and a cormorant. Had a lovely rhubarb and rosemary scone at the Conservatory Cafe and loved the water gardens. Spent the whole day and still didn’t manage to see everything. The house wasn’t open to the public when we visited as it’s a hotel - would recommend checking National Trust website before visiting if you want to go inside. It’s very hilly climbing back to the house from the riverside but worth it for all the views.

Used our voucher from the paper so free entry! Helpful map so had a good walk around all the gardens. Walked down and along The Thames- beautiful. Several places for a coffee, cake or lunch. Watch out for Red Kites- they target picnic areas! Second hand book shop too! Lovely day.

A fantastic day out at Cliveden! We had a wonderful family day out at National Trust's Cliveden. It was a perfect escape from London. We loved strolling through the grounds, which provided much-needed shade on a hot day. The views were stunning, and the kids were delighted with their ice creams. A quick tip for visitors: Be sure to look for the insider car park to avoid a long walk to the main house. We also wished we had known about the boat rides in advance, so be sure to check that out if you visit! Highly recommend for a family day trip. The estate is stunning, we especially appreciated the beautiful, shady walking paths that made our strolls incredibly relaxing. We found a great spot for our packed lunch, which was a nice way to save a bit of money and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The views across the grounds were truly magnificent. The kids absolutely loved their ice creams, and I enjoyed a well-deserved coffee break.

What a wonderful state in England! One of the most beautiful places I've been to of its kind. It's not far away from London, but it's easily connected to motorways. During the spring and summer, it is a great park to walk through gardens and forest, so bring your sunblock, hat and comfortable shoes. I cannot imagine it during the winter but maybe that's also a wonderful experience. If you can, book your tickets in advance and arrive early in the morning, because it is a popular spot and the park lot is limited. You can bring your trolleys (if you need). It has many accessible ways. It's dog friendly, but it's your responsibility to keep the place clean. Bring as well your banquet with food and drinks to picnic, if you cannot, don't worry! You can buy them here. Please! Please! Please! 1. Take your rubbish with you. Shame on those who leave their mess. 2. Respect the queue line entering with your car. Yes, everybody wants to enjoy the day ASAP, but good manners are really appreciated living in a community.

Well-worth the annual national trust membership price if you are a local resident. Beautiful gardens to explore and spacious picnic areas for small to large groups. There is also a coffee shop near the car park and a bigger cafe/restaurant close to the main house. There’s a good size children’s play area and there are also frequent children oriented events during the year which the our young child loves. Don’t forget to walk down to the river and have a boat trip in the summer months!

Our local National Trust, we love it here! So many different areas to visit, the woodland, the water garden, long garden, the Thames river, the house, the list goes on! Reliable food options and decent parking if you get there earlier on or later in the day... Can get busy busy weekends or school hols.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, also known as the Harry Potter Studio Tour, offers a magical experience for visitors of all ages. Located in Hertfordshire, this tour takes you through the actual film sets where the popular Harry Potter movies were made. You can explore iconic locations like Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Platform 9¾ while learning about special effects and seeing authentic props from the films.
Our first visit to the Harry Potter Studios in London was truly magical! The staff were so friendly and everyone wished my little girl a happy birthday after noticing her badge from the information desk, which made the day extra special. The sets, costumes, creatures, models, and special effects were absolutely incredible. The information throughout was fascinating, and the memorial to one of the artists who passed away was a beautiful and heartfelt touch. You can really feel the spirit of the films here with the dedication, creativity, and family bond between the cast, crew, and production team shines through every display. The shops, café, and food were fantastic too!We travelled three and a half hours to visit, and it was completely worth it. A wonderful, magical experience we’ll never forget! ✨

Amazing place! Its been many years since I was last there and its nice that more things have been added in that time. Went during the dark arts time and was fun to see the death eather preforming at different locations around the studio. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Harry Potter! The lay out is brilliant and just getting to see how it was all made is amazing.
Korie H — Google review
Where do I start! Absolutely amazing experience. A must visit for all the potter heads out there. Being a core fan of the book, the movie sets was truly a visual treat. I visited during the Dark Arts theme right after Halloween. The entire tour looked like a carefully planned adventure. The atmosphere felt do lively - kudos to the employees and the guides. A kind employee even took my picture (I was on a solo trip!). I saw the butter beer had mixed reviews. But I personally devoured it. It was refreshing after a long walk. Food was alright, not a fan of the unsalted fries. Some spaces did feel a bit rushed, specially people pushing and hovering around impatiently. Could see the kids engaging a lot with the sets. The photo booths are cute, however felt like a rip-off to have a poster print for £20! Considering the high turnaround rate, they could reduce the price. The broom videos looked a bit tacky but would be a fun try out for kids. Loved the small performance by the Death Eaters who kindly let us take pictures together! Cried myself through the pricey souvenirs, but the butter beer packs were a steal! For folks who can’t find the tickets during the holidays, keep checking every single day twice. I got mine on a random day check, and snagged it right away! They were kind enough to swap me to a different slot (which I found again), without additional charges! Overall worth every penny!

We had arranged a visit to the Warner Bros. Studio for our daughter’s birthday, as she’s crazy about Harry Potter. We were greeted by Menaka at the ticket collection counter. She was incredible!! 😃 Super friendly and charismatic in every way, and a true potterhead too! Our daughter was fully engaged in conversation with Menaka who shared all the wonderful things to look out for whilst on the tour. We gained tips on how to manage our time during the tour, which took 5 hours in total, including a break at the Butterbeer Bar. Menaka also gave our girl a birthday badge and several other goodies, which truly delighted her. We were amazed by the genuine kindness shown to make our daughter feel special 💓 We had arrived over an hour earlier than our scheduled tour time, so Menaka encouraged us to enjoy lunch in the Food Hall. We loved it! All dishes were very tasty and generous in portion, so we were fully prepared for the grand tour 🤩 As a birthday girl, our daughter was given the special privilege to open the door to Hogwarts! 🎉 From then on, the tour was outstanding. Spectacular sets, fun green screen experience and entertaining death eater performances. Beware of the Dementors and Acromantulas in the forbidden forest! 😨 Overall, a superb day out made extra special by all staff members, though Menaka was our favourite!! 🌟

Went on the small group tour. We were meant to skip queues but we didn't skip the queue we just skipped the bit we were going to see. But it was still worth it to get all the amazing little facts that the guide gave us. We went when it was hogwarts in winter. The food here is super expensive! You can take tour own food but i felt like it was part of the experience so just went with it. Remember to get your free passport so you can get your stamps as you go round 👍 The tour was 4hrs with a 1hr break. We went back in so in total spent 6hrs there and definitely could have spent longer. Take your time and make sure you make the most out of the full day.
Michelle M — Google review
We visited on a weekend, expecting it to be busy, but boy were we surprised at exactly how busy it was going to be. After a fair bit of queuing and somewhat rude security personnel at the bag check, we finally got through! The whole complex is huge and be prepared for a lot of time walking, standing and walking some more (reminded me of Disneyland) to get anywhere. However, it is really worth it once you can get over this and that is speaking as someone who isn't a huge HP fan. The work on display is amazing and the attention to detail so very impressive. The displays are well thought out, but do make sure you can stomach the high price of food and gifts!

Weather you are a Harry Potter fan, love mechanics, art or any DIY projects - you will love it. If all I mentioned above describes you - prepare for a very long visit, as you will love everything. Make sure you book tickets in advance, as the are sold out very quickly. The amazing world created by J.K Roling and later by Warner Brothers studios, before advenced digital effects technologies were widely available - is truly amazing. Nature & Parks
Cassiobury Park, located on the edge of urban development, spans 190 acres of open grass and woodland. It features a nature reserve with wet woodland and marshland, as well as paths alongside the Grand Union Canal and through Whippendell Woods. The park offers sports facilities, kids' attractions such as an extensive play park and miniature railway, and amenities like cafes. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities like sunbathing, paddling pools, and play areas.
Cassiobury Park is a wonderful spot for a family day out, with plenty of open green spaces that make it perfect for picnics. The park has a variety of food options nearby, including cafés and kiosks where you can grab snacks, ice creams, or a hot drink to enjoy while relaxing on the grass. It’s easy to find a quiet patch for a picnic, whether you prefer being near the hub of activity or tucked away in a more peaceful corner. The atmosphere feels welcoming, and there’s a nice balance between areas to unwind and spaces buzzing with families. For children, the play areas are a real highlight—modern, safe, and full of equipment to keep them entertained for hours. Walking along the canal adds another layer of charm, as you can watch narrowboats glide past or simply enjoy a gentle stroll. Between the kids’ attractions, the scenic waterway, and the relaxed picnic-friendly vibe, Cassiobury Park offers something for everyone and easily fills a day with simple but memorable pleasures.

Here are some tips to help you make the most of a day in Cassiobury Park if you’re going for the miniature railway: 🚂 Miniature Railway Ride times are 11 am – 5 pm. It’s a short, fun trip through the trees that kids (and adults!) love. 🎶 Bandstand Today, 3 pm – 5 pm, the Big Bandstand series is on. Free live music in the heart of the park—great to relax after the train ride. 👧 Playgrounds Two big playgrounds: The Hub Playground near the Cha Café has water play features (splash area in summer), climbing frames, and swings. The Lower Playground near the paddling pools is best for younger children. 🍴 Food & Drink Cha Café (by the Hub): Independent café with sandwiches, cakes, kids’ lunch boxes, and good coffee. Gets busy at lunchtime, so earlier or later is best. Ice-cream vans and kiosks are dotted around the park. Plenty of picnic spots if you’d rather bring your own. 🌳 Walks & Extras Lovely riverside walks along the Grand Union Canal (just beyond the railway). Wide open spaces for ball games or frisbee. If you’ve time, stroll through the nature reserve area at the far end of the park—it’s quieter and great for spotting wildlife. 👉 A nice flow for your day could be: Morning: Playground + railway ride Lunch: Picnic or Cha Café Afternoon: Canal walk

There are at least 2 cafe points there, these are a bit pricey but they have good coffee.

I recently visited Cassiobury Park for the Bake Fest event, and it was a really lovely experience. The park itself is beautiful — spacious, green, and well looked after, with plenty of room to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. The Bake Fest was a real highlight: so many stalls with delicious baked goods, as cakes and pastries. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and it felt like a great community event. Cassiobury Park is already a great place to spend time, whether for a walk, picnic, or just to relax outdoors, and events like Bake Fest make it even more special. I’d definitely recommend visiting, especially when something like this is happening!

It is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, having hosted recordings of iconic soundtracks like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. The venue features a main auditorium, as well as a cafe, restaurant, and several bars. Additionally, it houses The Pump House, a vibrant theater that accommodates various local arts groups and a nationally acclaimed youth theater group.
A great space for concerts. Saw the Stranglers and Skids on the night. Car parking at Gade 24hr car park quite close. Accessible for wheelchairs. A security arch was at entrance. No food on the night and beer wasn't all that either. Bands were great though.

Friendly staff and security bar one mismog. Give someone a uniform eh...! Charming looking building outside. Lovely building inside. Recently revamped. Bar prices were fair. No large queues. Large seating area outside of stage area. Large standing area. Not the best acoustics here., perhaps it was the bands sound engineer making a bit of a pigs ear of it. Shall give the venue the benefit of doubt on that one.

Went to watch Jake Bugg. Great venue, friendly staff, we didn't have to queue long. Just wish we knew there was another bar further inside as we did have to queue quite a while for drinks. Cloakroom (£2) and plenty of toilets available.

We travelled here to see a music concert. The Colosseum has recently reopened after refurbishment and it was looking good. Thoughtful and classy looking refurbishment. Friendly, happy staff. Good selection of drinks though only crisps were available as a snack. Sound quality/acoustics were good and the layout helped produce a great atmosphere.

The newly refurbished colosseum was worth the wait. A delightful venue with many great events to look forward to. Bar prices seemed high which was the only negative to my first night with a concert by the BBC Concert Orchestra

Went to see Ocean Colour Scene. Apparently this is the first concert since they've refurbished this venue. And wow, they have done a magnificent job. I think there were three separate bars, where I found service was fairly swift. There's plenty of parking very close to the Colosseum. Altogether a very enjoyable experience.

I went to Party 101 at the Watford Colosseum last night. The show itself was absolutely amazing — the atmosphere and sound system were excellent, and the performance was top-notch. Unfortunately, the organisation outside and at the bar let the night down. The queues were massive and very poorly managed. After waiting ages, we saw security suddenly begin pulling people from behind us and letting them in through a different entrance. This meant people who had only just arrived — and queued for five minutes — got inside before those of us who had been waiting much longer. If queues needed to be redirected, this should have been done from the front fairly, not from the back. There were also issues at the bar. Around 10 minutes after the performance began, alcoholic drinks stopped being served because staff had served a minor. This is completely unacceptable. IDs should always be checked, especially when knowing an event is 14+. This mistake meant the bar was closed just as the event was starting, spoiling the experience for many. I wasn’t desperate for a drink myself, but at a dance event like this, the atmosphere is definitely better when guests can enjoy refreshments responsibly. Overall, fantastic show but let down by poor queue management and serious bar staff failures. I hope the Colosseum reviews its procedures because the performers and production deserved better support.

Easy Parking and restaurants nearby, big venue maybe 2000 capacity, clean, safe, nice kind staff. Huge reverb and very bad sound mix in the balcony but that maybe sound tech issues not the venues fault

Lounge
The Plaza Premium Lounge at Departures, Terminal 5 in London Heathrow Airport offers a comfortable and convenient space to relax before a flight or during layovers. Guests can choose between 3-hour or 6-hour stays and enjoy amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi, shower facilities, and a selection of delicious food and beverages. While the lounge provides a quiet atmosphere compared to the terminal crowds, it also offers privacy pods for individual relaxation.
Augusta was absolutely fantastic! She went above and beyond to make sure I was well taken care of. I’m vegetarian, and she kindly went out of her way to find me some food that suited my diet l and she did it all with a big, warm smile on her face. It’s so lovely to see someone who truly takes pride in their work and cares about their customers. Thank you so much, Augusta, for your kindness and exceptional service!

This is a lovely lounge, no doubt about it. Can get a little busy towards the weekends but it's always got a relaxed and laid back atmosphere which I like. The food is usually excellent. I'd like a few more options at the self-service coffee desksb and it'd probably benefit from s few extra staff members to keep tables clear, however, very enjoyable and it's another world compared the with the chaotic experience outside the doors!

Spent a few hours on the way out and in at Plaza Premium Lounge in Departures at Terminal 5 Heathrow airport and I must say that it is one of the worst lounges I’ve been to! On both occasions I was told that the lounge is extremely busy and there is no space to sit which is fine and I understand as they accept Dragon Pass and you can also pay at the door as well but then at least make your other amenities/services better like food quality including the quality of hot drinks, hygiene, toilet facilities, cleanliness, quiet zone, spacing between tables/seats, etc. The food options and quality was extremely appalling and didn’t look appetising at all! No options for children. The coffee tasted horrible! They had a tray of readymade hard brownies next to the coffee machine which again looked very unattractive. There were no plugs to charge phone/laptops at tables and they were so close to each other that it was very difficult to get in and out. Toilets were not clean and the whole environment was very unpleasant. Staff didn’t look happy whether they were cleaning or toping up food from the kitchen. Overall, a really unpleasant experience when you pay to relax and unwind before boarding the flight and looking for some space and calmness at such a busy airport!

Hoped to spoil my family and get our holiday off to a relaxing start, but have been unimpressed by this lounge and the value for money. We would have been better off eating and sitting in the main airport. No air conditioning for the first hour and a half, the food options included ONLY cheap and unhealthy options - dry nachos with some sad looking salsa, tomato soup (edible at least) with some high starch white bread rolls, white rice with 2 curries to choose from, a few pizza slices (that went so fast that in the 2.5 hours we spent there were not replenished), a salad bar - that remained empty except for olives, and some unappealing looking jelly for dessert. But I could have coped with all the above, if it hadn’t been for the rude bar man. I ordered 3 sparking waters and a Heineken zero, and when the cans of water were “plonked” on the counter and I requested 3 glasses with ice to drink from, he looked at me like I was asking the world of him. Then when the glasses were then put in front of me with no ice in them and I gently requested “some ice please” (as per my original request), he started lecturing me on not wasting his time by asking for things one at a time. Not worth the visit, or spend a little extra for the other lounges in Heathrow (you can’t even leave your bags here safely and go shopping).

Edwin and his collegues at the lounge made my experience so special and a true luxury before my flight. They were so attentive and were offering me champagne and coffee. Truly so grateful to be greeted with such a warm welcome

Food is great and staff is friendly. Only problem is it gets very crowded and it’s not handled well. Even when it was full, I saw that people were being let in instead of being asked to wait, leading to a lot of people standing with nowhere to sit. Of course people want to eat but theres no room so people had to eat while standing (myself included). What makes it more infuriating is they have sections or tables “reserved” so they have these empty tables/chairs with dozens of people standing around but no one is allowed to use them. Not sure if it’s a good idea to allow people to reserve tables/chairs like that.

Free pass via Priority Pass on Amex so cannot complain. Yes, the lounge was a bit busy but we were told that on the way in - what can you expect on a Saturday? Janet on the bar was lovely, very attentive to all of the guests around her and managed the queue very well. She kept our glasses full and added to our lounge experience!

The staff is amazing, breakfast has no taste. If you are not on weekend, there is enough space to relax. The view of the runway is cool.
