We visited Bletchley Park today and had an absolutely fantastic day exploring this incredible piece of history. From the moment we arrived, the experience was first class. We were greeted at the entrance barrier by Jake, who gave us a lovely warm welcome — full of good humour and friendly banter — the perfect start to the day. Inside, every member of staff and volunteer we met was just as friendly and engaging. Their enthusiasm for the site and its history really brought the stories of The Codebreakers to life. A particular highlight for me was the Radio Team, who were exceptional. They not only explained the radio technologies and the process behind them in fascinating detail but even offered me a chance to have a go myself! Their knowledge and passion were infectious and added so much to the visit. We took our time exploring the Mansion, the huts, and the surrounding grounds — everything was beautifully presented and full of atmosphere. The attention to historical authenticity and the care taken in preserving the story of Bletchley’s wartime legacy was evident everywhere. The Gift Shop was excellent too, well-stocked with books, souvenirs, and thoughtful keepsakes. I was thrilled to find a book I’d owned as a child (a long time ago now!) — something I never expected to see again. All in all, it was a day filled with learning, nostalgia, and wonderful interactions with passionate people. A truly memorable visit, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Five stars without hesitation.

An amazing place and well worth a visit. The guides are all volunteers who give their time and expertise completely free of charge. In my opinion this makes them even more valuable to the whole experience and definitely worth listening to if you can get on one of their guided tours. Your entry ticket will allow you to return as many times as you like with a year of your first visit, completely free of charge, and you’ll need it as there so much to see and learn.

This is an amazing Living Musuem of history. The splendid work both highly intellectual people accomplished, together with every day men and women during WW2 is shown here. Without this secret team WW2 may not have ended when it did and with the British victorious. There is so much so see we needed 3 day visits. When you purchase your ticket you get a year to return and Thank Goodness for that.

Interesting visit to learn more about the WW2 Codebreakers and see the technology they used. Informative and entertaining video presentations. Friendly staff and good interactive displays. Quite expensive at £28 pp (we won't be going back in the next year even though the ticket says you can) and disappointed that the museum of computing was another £10 each next door. The website says the cafes have gluten free options but they didn't have any gf cakes or sandwiches, only a main meal.

An amazing time in our countrys' history, remarkable work carried out by extraordinary people. We learnt a great deal more about the events that occurred there than we previously knew. Definitely worth visiting, as your entry tickets are valid for 12 months multiple visits.

We had a fantastic day out at Bletchley Park. There was so much to see. I particularly enjoyed the areas recreated to look as it did during the Second World War. Whilst I knew of the work done there and its importance, visiting left me with an even deeper sense of admiration for the people who worked there.

What ca. you say? Incredible place where some incredible people worked long hours to help shorten WW2. So very informative, plenty to see. Can easily spend a day here, and the great thing is that your ticket is valid for 12 months so you can return any time within that period. If you’re a member of English Heritage then you can get money off your ticket too.

A great and popular place to visit. Reasonable parking costs , and good places to eat and drink. The views are stunning. My only concern is there's no segregation between you walking and the inexperienced bike riders on there hired electric bikes. It's an accident waiting to happen. However we will be back as so much more to see and do.

Beautiful place to come and fish for a day! The boats are well maintained and they also supply nets and drogue per boat. Such a vast body of water, will need to visit a few times to see it all, and fish it but it was that nice today, I know I'll be back again soon!

A pleasant and civilised day out with families enjoying the beautiful scenery, playing games a d having barbecue. I was impressed with the obvious lack of litter and the well stocked visitors centre. The toilets could do with a bit of tlc.

This is a fantastic place to visit the Abbey has so much to see you will need to spend some time trying to take it all in. The gardens are well worth making sure you get all areas in. Picnic areas and tables dotted about for use some with shade. Toilets at various points around the site.

The gardens and deer park are lovely. I have not visited the Abbey itself yet but if you want a place to get in a walk and wonderful gardens it is great. The maze is interesting and there are several different picturesque spots throughout the garden area. The pottery and café are lovely also.

The gardens are beautiful and well worth a look. It has public toilets and a lovely little gift shop. You can picnic anywhere in the gardens. If you are disabled your carer goes free and your ticket is reduced to nearly half. They have wheelchair hire and mobility scooters for hire which help greatly. I hope this is helpful ☺

A great place to visit. The house is full of historical wonders and the staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. The gardens are glorious on a summer's day, and full of great photo opportunities. The tea house is a nice place to have lunch and reasonably priced.

Absolutely LOVED IT!!! amazing place for families, for couples for everyone I guess. Abbey is at centre of Deer park with couple of ponds which adds so much beautiful views all around. Unfortunately I cannot able to see the inside view of Abbey due to refurbishment take place and it will be back for public in 2021. You can have a very good walk in the park as well as the Woburn Old Town just meters away from this place. Also, when you drive into this park you fell like Richmond park in London. Definitely recommended!

Fantastic afternoon tea (delicious vegan and gf vegan options available) but you need to prebook your dietary requirement. On booking staff were exceptionally friendly and immediately understood vegan and GF vegan requirements. allow yourself extra time (c20mins) to get there on time as you need to check in at main gate and then drive the 2-3 miles to the house and garden entrance. tea rooms were lovely as was the impressive grounds and gardens. i happily would return with the kids for a picnic and maybe next time would take a look inside the Abbey (add on cost).

This is a beautiful place to visit, it hasn't changed much since i came here as a child. It has public toilets and a cafè and beautiful gardens to walk round. If you are disabled your carer gets in free and your ticket is reduced also. You can hire a wheelchair for free or a mobility scooter for £5 ! I loved it , such a calming place steeped in history ☺

Honestly one of the best days out I've ever had with my daughter. Gorgeous, well maintained paths everywhere. Bird hides to watch over the lakes (while she napped). A big, airy cafe with delicious coffee. Lovely museum with staff who clearly adore what they do! We had so much fun talking to the people who were making a dugout canoe with bronze age tools, and exploring the garden, especially after seeing the spinning and weaving and learning about the plants that make the dyes. My daughter adored playing in the adventure play, of course. There's running water and sand, cute little play beach huts, a mural, slides, more than enough to entertain a toddler for hours! It was really lovely and plenty of seating and shade all around. We will definitely be back with my husband for another full day and hopefully add in some cycling 😊😊 Overall, really cannot say enough about how great the site was but even more so how wonderful every staff and volunteer was everywhere we went during our visit. The kindness, patience, and passion was just beyond what you could ask and we really appreciate it!

Absolutely lovely day out with all of my family which included 19 13 13 10 & 10 year old. There was so much to do and see around the whole of the lakes. My kids especially loved the assault course as did my partner (a little to much if you ask me) 😅. The only thing that I found was missing was bins on the walk ways I understand its for safety reasons but the amount of plastic bottles that were just dropped on the floor was awful. My kids did pick up the bottles they could whilst walking round but had to keep hold of them until the bin at the playground area. Other than that we had a fantastic time. Finished of with a lovely picnic near the playground for my youngest 2.

Love visiting here! Went to a netwalking event held in their conference room with walk around small lake. Facilities were clean and food was delicious (bacon sandwich). Great provision for tea, coffee and selection of cold drinks for the event. Staff were friendly and helpful. Outside facilities are the best part, beautiful nature and well kept paths. Usually you need to pay for car park but as we were at an event, parking was free.

I recently spent a few hours at Stanwick Lakes Country Park (Northamptonshire) and had a thoroughly relaxed and memorable time. The setting is beautiful — wide open spaces, shimmering lakes, and plenty of winding paths through nature. Whether you’re walking seriously or just pottering, the place has a lovely peaceful pace. There’s also an impressive adventure playground (and zip-line/assault-course type features) that means if you’re with kids you’ll very likely hear squeals of delight from the central hub of the park. On the nature side, it’s just as good. The bird-hides, wetland spaces and trails provide a chance to slow down, sit on a bench and watch things happen quietly around you. It’s not just manic play and activity—there are corners of genuine calm and reflection. Like all UK parks do go prepared if it’s been raining: as paths can be muddy and may be dry foot wear

What a great place! So much for the kids to do and see. The water feature is great, the climbing frame is well kept and very safe. The toilets are always kept clean and there is a great choice for food and drinks. Actually they have really nice coffee which is rare. Would be good with a few more benches as there is only a few compared to how many visitors they get but bring a picnic blanket and you'll be fine

A very lovely Nature Reserve. Trails are great for riding on, there's lots to see and do. Very pretty area to visit. And the play areas for kids are fantastic too!

Spent a couple of hours here with my daughter this morning. After building a Minecraft money box, ice scream and bacon roll in the cafe, spent just over an hour trolling the outdoor play area, taking a beating from the vertical twisty slide lol.. The venue has lots to offer , walks and activities, including the previous indoor play area now used for arts and crafts.. nice little venue for the children and adults alike. Friendly polite staff and informative of upcoming events , such as trails , arts and crafts etc..

A gem in Luton, deserving of every one of its 5 stars! I've visited both on weekdays and weekends, and each time it offers a truly fruitful and calm atmosphere. The beautiful gardens are a highlight, perfect for a peaceful stroll and enjoying nature's beauty. The coffee shop is a lovely spot to relax and refuel, and the old carriage exposition is fascinating – a real step back in time. It's a wonderful place to escape and enjoy some tranquillity. Highly recommend!

I haven't been here in a long time and it still delivers, the museum is good and took approximately an hour to get around. The garden was unexpectedly large it was like a laybrinth to get around, you couldn't go inside the greenhouses I assume this was because we went on the 26th September getting close to Autumn so I'm fine with that. There was a slight mishap with my hot chocolate where I got given one that tasted like coffee but this was adequately replaced.

Wonderful place with well kept grounds..a favourite when the kid's were young and now a place of tranquility to get away from the busy world outside.. excellent cafe too..

Lovely place to visit with a whole family, it's free, it's interesting, full of exciting exhibitions for fans of history, although a lot of places (especially greenhouses in the gardens) seemed unaccessible on our recent visit. There're a coffee shop, toilets, and playgrounds. The staff is kind, and the gift shop has a lot of lovely knicknacks. Fantastic place for a walk or picnic, but some parts of the gardens seem a little run down recently.

This English Heritage site is a decent home and gardens. The house doesn’t have tons to see - a few fairly empty rooms on the ground floor (library, drawing room, etc), a staircase, and 4-5 room exhibition. If you take the free wallpaper tour, it will take you upstairs to three rooms, and last around 30 minutes. Candidly I wasn’t sure about a wallpaper tour beforehand, but it was interesting and they provided extra tidbits about the room and family as well. However, there is not tons to see in the house otherwise - a few signs, and 15-20 minutes in the exhibition, which goes through the decor, sport, leisure, gardens, use in World War I, family, etc. Gardens: When we came, the main gardens were closed for high winds, so could only experience the smaller gardens closest to the house. Dairy sculpture garden: We also missed as wasn’t very well marked on signs. One room with a few sculptures nice to visit. (To access from the entrance, walk through the gardens nearest the house, and it’s on the opposite end/far side of the house.) Cafe has a nice selection of lunch and cakes, with options for both indoor and outdoor seating. Small shop with a few interesting options available. Kids play area looked well used. Parking is on grass outside the gate. Toilets clean though dated near the front. Single toilet also in the house.

I had a really enjoyable walk around the grounds, beautiful place to explore. Many different sights to see, nice woodlands, beautiful gardens and swans!! The house is large but the area you can explore is very small in comparison. They do have tours to explore the upstairs, next time I'm there i will try and check that out. The rooms you can see are beautiful. Staff are friendly, had a nice chat with a gentleman who explained the history of one of the rooms and where lots of the bits came from, very fascinating, thank you very much. Plenty of parking and clean toilets.

Really lovely day here. The grounds are fabulous with something around every corner. Amazing planted beds and conservatory. Enjoyed the round building at the end of the waterway and seeing the swans take off along the waterway. Great cafe with lots of choice, delicious cakes and tasty pastries. Very kind and helpful staff at every point. Good play area for the children too.

Such a lovely place, very dog and kid friendly! We really enjoyed the garden tour, and it’s great that there are a few different tours available each day of the week. You just need to get your free tickets from the shop. It was quite busy, but I’m blaming the perfect weather, school holidays, and the fact that we went on a Sunday. The volunteers were all so helpful and knowledgeable, which made the visit even better. Overall, we really liked it, a perfect day out with the family!

A charming house with large amounts of parkland, beautifully kept by English Heritage. The entrance fee for adults before any concessions is £22 but well worth it. Dogs welcome on leads. Bring your own sandwiches or use their cafe and you could easily spend the day here exploring the house and huge outdoor areas. I found all staff and the volunteers particularly charming (much more so than at some National Trust locations). Highly recommended.

As a proud member of English Heritage, I love exploring the many historic sites they care for — and with over 400 properties under their care, Wrest Park truly stands out as one of the gems! Wrest Park is a fantastic place to visit. The expansive grounds offer endless space to wander and take in the beautiful scenery. If you get tired, an electric buggy service is available to take you closer to the garden entrance — very handy! Just be sure to keep an eye out for it, as it’s constantly on the move and easy to miss. The staff were exceptionally friendly and well-informed, making the experience even more enjoyable. The house itself is stunning — steeped in history and filled with elegant, detailed rooms that feel like stepping back in time. A heartfelt thank-you to the team for helping me retrieve my lost necklace. They found it the following day and kindly reached out to return it — such a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot. With plenty of benches to rest on, peaceful surroundings, and a welcoming atmosphere, Wrest Park is an absolute must-visit for anyone in the area — especially if you’re an English Heritage member!

Nice place to spend a few hours and not too far from home. Went on a Monday in October so was a bit misty and damp, but quiet . Had a look around the house and grounds, then popped into cafe, which was very busy. Nice selection of cakes.

My girlfriend and I came here, and it's a lovely walk. In some sections, it feels very close to nature, while others are clearly designed for children to play. It's a wonderful place for a quiet day out.

Visited many times, but today just the wooden trail. However, the whole park it's perfect to go for walks, visit different sites like coffee shops, playgrounds for the children, ride on the train ( this will depend on the days and weather), and also boat rides (this is seasonal). There's a lot in here, as sometimes they do events as well. Always look at the website for what's happening. But, if you like nature like I do, Ferry meadows is a great escape from the town of Peterborough.

Beautiful place has a lot to offer, play areas, BBQ, pedal boats, and lots of walking trails. A small train that takes you on a tour of the park, cafes and toilet facilities. Various parking locations which you pay when you leave. Very pretty place, would definitely return for another visit.

Lovely place for a day out .plenty of walks. parks for kiddies cafe and ice-cream stall and a train to take you round the park. We stayed on the caravan site for few days it was nice .you can also tents in a different area .

Ferry Meadows in Nene Park, is beautiful and peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. The big lake is perfect for fishing and just relaxing. There are plenty of walking trails, running areas, and horseback riding avaliable. Plenty of adventure woodlands, large picnic areas, and a variety of wildlife, it’s an ideal destination for families, nature lovers, or anyone looking for a calm escape outdoors.

Visited here for the Saturday morning parkrun. Loads of onsite parking which is only £1 for park runners. This is very well attended event , with 600 people on the day. The park is great with loads of facilities including toilets, cafes etc. The run is two out and back loops, there are some 2way parts that get a little squeezed but for most of it there is plenty of room. Its all flat and alot of tarmac so its a fast course. Lots of marshalls all doing a great job, this is a must visit parkrun.

Parking £4-8. Very beautiful and scenic. Cafe was busy and their way of doing drinks was odd, tea was made and put on the tray but we had to wait for the coffee (they hold back the tray) so tea was cold. Coffee was around £4, cake £4 . Watersports and activities available on site for extra charges. Picnic area and play park. Short walk around the lake and some other paths that we didn't get chance to visit as it was just a short visit.

A beautifully designed and built cathedral. Are there better ones - depends upon what is considered better, this one is full of history and stunning architectural details. There was a 5 pound charge to visit the chancel but I did not think that excessive considering the maintenance costs on this building. If you visiting Peterborough, this is not to be missed. Also a lovely place for some self reflection and hop out of the daily trials of life.

What a great cathedral. The architecture is amazing and walking inside its so spacious and the art work is amazing. Such a peaceful place. The cathedral is right in the city centre of Peterborough and you can’t miss it with the walk way leading to it. The cathedral looks so beautiful and grand from the outside and when you walk in it looks so nice

An impressive building with the three arches. The Nave is beatiful too with the wooden ceilings, etc. An amazing building. But, I was disappointed to find that in order to visit the chancel and other areas at the back of the cathedral, I would have to pay an entrance fee of £5.50, you have to buy tickets at the information desk. There is no clear signage of that being the case, nothing to inform me of this. You need to be more clear as it does not say on your website or indeed on any signage that I looked at that there is a fee.

Like majority of Cathedrals in the UK, Peterborough cathedral has stunning Gothic architecture and a real sense of history. The intricate ceilings and beautiful stained glass are breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect place to pause and reflect.

I have visited a lot of Cathedrals over the year across England, and this has to be one of best that l have seen. l was very impressive with both the inside and the outside of this cathedral. I would highly recommend coming here. The cathedral is free to visted, but there is a donation box/card reader if you would like give something.

Superlative example of a cathedral lots of spectacular details and information and friendly and helpful staff. Gift shop didn't seem open and if they did contactless donations we would have.

This is one of my favourite cathedrals in UK, just beautiful. Check out their xmas fayre in November each year .. fabulous

Historic watermill, operating on select days. River cruise and self hire boats also available and a small beach area for river swimming.

I had such a lovely day out at Houghton Mill in Abbots and would definitely recommend it. The mill itself is a really interesting National Trust property, full of character, but what made it extra special was everything around it. You can hire boats or punts by the mill at very reasonable prices, which was so much fun and such a relaxing way to enjoy the river. On sunny days, it’s also a great spot to bring your own inflatable if you fancy drifting along at your own pace. The area is perfect for picnics too. There are plenty of tables outside if you want to sit and enjoy food from the café (which was excellent – really tasty and good value), or you can just bring a rug and set yourself up right by the water. It’s such a peaceful, pretty place to relax. If you’ve got time, it’s also worth wandering into the village. There are some really good pubs, all with a welcoming feel, plus a lovely antique and art shop that’s fun to browse. Altogether, Houghton Mill and the village make a brilliant day out with a great mix of history, nature, good food, and a lot of fun on the water!

Lovely small and spacious campsite near the river for walks and water for those who like messing about in it!! The mill was very interesting and a short walk to pubs with good beer. The facilities were great and very clean. My only small gripe was no toilet paper left in the morning.

This was a pleasant and unexpected experience with a lovely mill on a river. Some of the views seemed out of a money painting. We didn't go in the but just did the circular walk. There is a swimming and canoeing area. There's also a campdite close by and a small cafe for refreshments. Parking on grass is available. Good for families wanting to explore and be at one with nature and dogs are welcome.

Visited when en-route home from Shropshire and well worth it. Very busy to park but well organised. Interesting bit of history and couple of enthusiastic volunteers added to it. Pleasant walk along river too. Bought some of the milled flour.

Beautiful place. Did the mill tour but definitely going back to do the 5k circular walk and perhaps take out a rowing boat.

Great place for swimming, canoeing, or long walks. The mill is definitely worth visiting, check the opening hours. There are toilets and a tea shop next to the car park. You can rent boats and canoes. Car park and facilities close usually at 4 pm, but you can still drive out, so don't worry about leaving your car for longer, drive up to the gate (not too close) and it will open. Beautiful scenery, we did an 8k walk (check out the map in my pictures, red trail, with a green shortcut south of the lakes) but you have many options, including an around 20k one recommended on a map just south of the mill. There may be mud and narrow paths in tall grass, so aim at good weather. Don't miss walking around the picturesque village with many old houses, a bit like going back in time. Recommended.

The road to the zoo is a bit narrow and winding, and driving with the steering wheel on the opposite side made it even more unusual. This is a truly small family-oriented zoo with an interesting selection of animals. Everything was clean and well maintained, and we enjoyed the visit. I was especially excited to see capybaras and meerkats. Personally, it was also fascinating to observe the visitors — many families with two or more children. The food was decent, but because of the strong wind and too many wasps outside, the experience was mixed. Overall, it’s a great place to spend a day with family.

Visited for my daughter’s birthday and it was great all round. The entire place is very well designed and in good condition. We tried food at a few of the outlets and all were good quality tasting food - not amazing but not the typical greasy nonsense you get. It’s good that you can walk around each area multiple times and in different directions so you really feel like you get the most out of your ticket. Price wise was good, about average and like I said there is plenty to do when inside. All the animals we saw looked happy, no concerns there.

A brilliant zoo, I would say one of the best we have visited. It was busy but we didn't feel it, its nicely spread out so you never feel crowded, it was also very clean and tidy. The staff were fantastic, even when doing something they were happy to answer questions on animals, they were all happy, friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. The animals all seemed happy and healthy with a lovely variety. As with all zoos it would be nice to see them with more space. The food was of excellent quality and reasonably priced. Nice to have the mix of animals, the dino trail and parks too. It is 3.5hours away from us but worth every minute in the car. Would 100% recommend

Great zoo, loved the red panda experience, keeper was very friendly and informative in answering any questions I had. Loved getting to see the two red pandas being introduced to each other. Got good views of the animals, some of the viewing windows were quite wet with condensation which blocked views but not much to be done about that. Lots of kids so was quite noisy but think I came in the school holidays. Only negative was one of the jaguars was pacing around a lot in its enclosure, hopefully it was just waiting for food or something like that and not stressed. Got Uber easily to/from the train station. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

A really good day out. I went with my sister and my two teenagers and we all thoroughly enjoyed our day. The theming, informative signs, viewing areas/platforms and eateries were very good. Of course the wonderful animals were the highlight and I can recommend attending the bird show! At the end of the day we even had a train ride around the dinosaur area for £2 each, which ended the day nicely.

A family favourite. My son was two when we went and he loved the dinosaurs section even though I was worried he was too young, there are some bits that are slightly gruesomely but you can quickly go past them. It’s good fun and you can then go to the zoo and look at the animals. It’s very well organised and clean. Limited option for food and as with any of these venues, it’s overpriced for the quality you get.

Hertfordshire Zoo is a fantastic family-friendly destination with a great variety of animals and interactive zones. The enclosures are well maintained , highlights include the lions, camels, and alpacas, all easy to view up close. The “World of Animals” and “Tumble Jungle” soft play area add extra fun for kids, with clearly scheduled play sessions. The zoo is clean, well signposted, and offers a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. A perfect day out for families with young children!

Fantastic day, need more than one day to see everything. We mainly done hanger 1, the US area and the outside planes. These were knowledgeable and informative. We became members so we can come back a few more times. 100% recommended. All the staff we spoke to were lovely.

Great museum. It's huge. Spread over several hangars and buildings, and includes a Concorde, B52, SR71, U2 and many others. When we visited there were lots of light aircraft and classic planes like spitfires and bi-planes flying as well. There are several restaurants, a free shuttle bus, large gift shop and lots of volunteers (in red) more than happy to help. Car parking is free.

The Duxford Air Museum is an absolutely incredible place to visit! The collection is vast and beautifully displayed. The exhibitions are informative and engaging, with plenty of interactive displays and stories that bring the history of flight to life. Watching aircraft take off and land right in front of you is an unforgettable experience. There are also great facilities — plenty of parking, a nice café with good food and coffee, and lots of space for families to explore.

As a big aviation enthusiast, I was really looking forward to exploring the site and seeing some of the iconic aircraft up close. There was a short wait to buy tickets, and while the entry price did seem quite steep, I was happy enough to pay it for the chance to see the planes I’d come for. Unfortunately, the gentleman at the ticket desk (older, with white hair and a beard) was rather unfriendly and didn’t offer the warmest of welcomes — not the best start to the day. My first stop was the Concorde, which I’ve always wanted to experience. There were two staff members standing by the entrance, but they seemed too caught up in their own conversation to greet visitors or answer questions. Once onboard, there was no one available to provide information or engage with visitors, which was disappointing — especially for such a famous aircraft. After leaving Concorde, I made a beeline for the commercial airliners on display outside — the part of the visit I was most excited for. Unfortunately, when I arrived, all of them were closed for the day except the aircraft in British Airways livery. While that one was open and staffed, and the gentleman onboard was extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer my questions (thank you for that!), I couldn’t help feeling disappointed that the others were shut. Throughout my visit, I also noticed that staff presence around the site felt quite sparse. In several areas, particularly around the commercial airliners, I had a lot of questions but couldn’t find anyone to ask. I was later told that access to the aircraft varies by day, which feels like a bit of a “luck of the draw” situation — fine if communicated clearly, but frustrating when you’ve paid full price and key exhibits aren’t open. Overall, while I did enjoy parts of the visit and found the open aircraft fascinating, the lack of staff engagement, limited access to exhibits, and inconsistent communication left me feeling underwhelmed. With such an incredible collection, I had hoped for a more welcoming and interactive experience.

Incredible place! Honestly the best aviation museum I have ever been to and one of the best museums I have been to overall. Lots to see, lots to interact with, actually getting into some of the planes, many elevated platforms and floors to see these huge aircraft from different angles. The airfield is active with all sorts taking off and landing throughout the day. Accessibility for wheelchair users is great too.

Very extensive collection contained at an active airfield. Vintage planes taking off and landing all day was a huge perk! To see these aircraft still flying is indeed a pleasure! Everything was in good order and labeled. Well worth spending the day here; so very much to see and experience!

Visited IWM Duxford during the school summer holidays and explored at our own pace. The vast hangars packed with iconic aircraft—from Spitfires to Concordes—bring aviation history to life. Interactive exhibits, flight simulators, and outdoor displays kept everyone engaged. Super accessible with wide paths and family facilities. A brilliant day out for all ages!

My second visit (30+ years ago) and my husband's first. A really beautiful property and gardens, very well maintained. Not too big. Very knowledgeable guides on hand to answer questions. Only disappointment was that the tearoom wasn't open, but not too far to go into the town after. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Peckover House is a hidden gem located right in the heart of Wisbech. The house has an interesting history and is worth taking a look around. Entry to the house for non-members is £10 but access to the gardens is free. It has all of the usual assets of a National Trust Property (minus a gift shop). This includes a nice little tea room, second-hand bookshop and some plants for sale. I would strongly recommend tying in a visit to Peckover with a visit to Elgoods Brewery and the Wisbech Museum.

Went on a Heritage open day and had a lovely visit, the house and garden were impressive and the staff very helpful. Visited the coffee shop and thought the prices were sensible and the space inside and outside nice and children friendly. I have been to bigger and more impressive house, but this was someone's home, OK it was a rich someone, but size doesnt alway matter.

Situated on Wisbech’s North Brink, Peckover House built in 1722 was home to the Peckover family for 150 years. A fine example of a Georgian merchant townhouse, it has some gorgeous rooms. The Drawing Room has an impressive rococo mirror frame, the Dining Room, and the Victorian Library for Alexander Peckover's growing collection of books. One of the most important pieces is Alexander Peckover’s cabinet of curiosities. It contains items brought back from his travels. In the basement there are some nice original features such as the sink and cupboards in the Butler’s Pantry. To the left of the main entrance into the house, is the surviving sections of the Banking Hall. It now contains an exhibition of the history of the Peckover’s banking business. Situated behind the house is a gorgeous Victorian garden covering approx. 2 acres, roughly the size of a football pitch and boasts an extensive range of horticultural styles. The orangery has 3 stunning orange trees allegedly more than 3 centuries old. There are several herbaceous borders, several lawns, including an area for croquet and three distinctly different summerhouses. There are plenty of outdoor games to keep every member of the family entertained. Entry to the gardens is free all year round. Hot and cold drinks, along with cakes and light bites are available in the charming 17th century Reed Barn Tea-room, a Grade II listed building. Next to The Reed Barn is a well-stocked second-hand book shop along with a selection of plants, some grown on the estate, that are available for sale. It is well worth a visit, there is a lot more to Peckover than the house.

A wonderful historic property - so much to see. The staff were amazing, so knowledgeable and they really enjoyed talking about the history of the property - if you love history then this is an absolute must. Fantastic food at the cafe too. To fully enjoy the house and estate you would need all day. An absolute gem ❤️

Great day out for the family. The house is well maintained and there are nice collections to see. The gardens are well kept and huge. There is just one more little hidden treasure around each corner just when you thought you saw it all. Well worthy the visit. There is also a cafe and a shop. We enjoyed the performance from English heritage on “ferries”. Loved it!

Lovely historic house looked after by English Heritage. Lots of rooms to see inside and very friendly helpful volunteers. They are great to talk to and share so much other interesting information about the house. Outside the gardens were beautiful and lovely large lawn beside lake. The old vegetable garden was also lovely as were the stables. Worth going to stables first of all which are near to the car park and tells you the story of the house before you visit it. Large tearooms to visit with good selection of snacks, meals and treats. Definitely worth a visit.

Although the facilities outside the mansion are generally well-preserved, the mansion itself is very bright and beautiful, making you imagine that people still lived there. The owner of the mansion has very special tastes, and you can see that the decoration inside is different from other British mansions. The most impressive thing is the tall and magnificent wooden carving wall in the reception hall. In addition, you will see some sea monsters and ocean-related icons in the reception room on the second floor. The tour guide said that this is because the owner of the mansion was a big shot in the navy. The mansion facilities are very beautiful and well-maintained. It takes about an hour to walk through.

I really enjoyed my visit!!! The house is stunning inside, with lots of interesting rooms and stories, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The gardens are beautiful and perfect for a walk – peaceful, well-kept, and full of charm. There’s also plenty of space for kids to run around, which makes it a nice family day out. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere relaxing but also full of history.

Our visit was perfect. The house was a real highlight. It felt like being in one of Jane Austin books. I loved the vast space and well kept grounds. It was time well spent and my children enjoyed it too. It's great place for family visit. Highly recommend.

Great stately home and grounds. The gardens behind the house are really wonderful and seating is available for you to relax and fully enjoy the view. The stables are a must for any horse lovers and the staff there are all very knowledgeable and friendly. There are various gardens. Fruit and vegetable gardens and many rooms from the past. There are two restaurant / cafes both with toilets. Plenty of parking and level access except for the first floor of the house. Sadly no lift is available.

Ely Cathedral is absolutely stunning. The architecture is breathtaking, especially the unique Octagon Tower and the spacious Lady Chapel. Inside, every detail feels majestic yet peaceful. The staff and guides are very welcoming, and the whole visit is well worth it. A true gem and one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England.

Spectacular and unique among cathedrals, its wooden octagonal “lantern” high above the crossing is amazing to see and explore. We booked an Octagon Tower tour before our visit, and learned from our guide the original tower had been square and built in a Romanesque design, but that unstable ground - possibly exacerbated by construction of the adjacent Lady Chapel - had caused the tower to collapse in 1322. Something new was clearly required, and result was an octagonal tower made of stone and wood that was lighter in weight, spread the load more evenly, and that had an upper row of windows to admit light (a “lantern”). After examining this construction method on a model at ground level we were escorted up the first spiral staircase to the clerestory, where we were asked to deposit backpacks and purses. Nearby were the bass pipes of the organ, some of them so long that they are installed horizontally. Three more stairways ensued, two of them among the narrowest we have ever climbed in a Cathedral. All were inside the walls, and the one that accesses the roof requires one to bend almost double to duck through the exit door. The interior of the Octagon Tower is a busy maze of beams installed in the 14th Century, with some of the larger pieces at least 1,000 years old. We approached the lantern from behind and found it consisted of a number of high, narrow, painted doors, three of which were opened for us so we could peer across the octagon to the painted other side, and crane our necks to see the altar far below. It was absolutely splendid. We learned that the lantern’s last significant structural restoration was done under architect Sir Gilbert Scott in the mid 1800s, and that the lantern paintings (and part of the nave ceiling) were completed in the 1860s. Outside on the lead-clad roof we were treated to a terrific view over the city. Back downstairs we explored the magnificent Lady Chapel and some of the Chantry chapels before calling it day. Practical info: A tour will really make your time at Ely come alive, so visit the excellent Ely Cathedral website to see what is on offer. Allow about 2 to 2.5 hours for a visit.

An impressive and magnificent cathedral that makes Ely – even though it’s the second smallest city in England – truly special. Knowing that this remarkable building is almost 1,000 years old makes the visit even more fascinating. It’s also interesting to learn that parts of the first Harry Potter film were shot here. The audio guide is excellent and very informative.

Beautiful cathedral. This is an excellent place to visit for a day out. The grounds and staff are helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. If you are in the area, well worth the trip. There are numerous pubs, shops, and restaurants near the cathedral as well.

What an amazing place to visit and look around. Lots of things to see, so much history and so much beauty. The ticket price of £14 pp may seem quite steep, but you could essentially spend hours here and still not be bored. Be mindful that the Stained Glass Window Museum costs extra (to be the cost for this is quite steep for what it is) and it is also up some steep flights of steps so no good for people with disabilities; but interesting to look at the stained glass exhibits.

Ely Cathedral is fantastic. Special mention goes to Tracey, our guide on the Octagon Tower Tour. She was so full of amazing information and her pacing of the tour was perfect. Such a special and unique place.

A beautiful building from the outside and looks magnificent inside. But sadly they charge a ridiculous £14 per adult to enter just for a 20-30 minute browse. Understand they need to maintain the place but this is meant to be part of our collective heritage and should be open to all for a much smaller donation. In France similarly grand cathedrals outside of Paris are free to enter. Also, the church fathers have built an ugly building opposite the entrance that really ruins the surrounding area ( see picture). Disappointed.

Lovely place for kids and dogs. Car park charge is a little bit on the dear side, £4.2 for 2h, but I guess they need to spend a lot on the maintenance of the site.

Lovely country park to have a picnic, go for a walk, sit quietly round the lakes or picnic benches. Lots of open spaces for people, dogs, children to run & enjoy the outside. Parking bit expensive. Biggest issue is cafe not only open at wkends!? Ridiculous! Toilets open till 4pm. Thoroughly enjoyed out time there meeting family, walking dogs. We were lucky with we had glorious weather but no shelter if it rains.

Really nice park, clean and well kept. Easy parking and easy to pay when you leave. Didn't walk too far but I think there are a few trails you can walk around. Took a picnic The sky ropes are brilliant, decent for the kids Good few hours.. 👍

Great day out for kids, lots of entertaining things to play with and explore as you walk or cycle round. Nice little cafe as well.

Perfect size park with different kinds of playgrounds spread across the whole park which makes the experience even more fun for the kids. It's not 5 stars because the cafe was closed during the bank holiday, sky rope was also closed and the football pitches were only available after paying quite expensive fees. Car park fees were not cheap but reasonable, especially if you plan to stay more than 4 hours. Worth the visit.

Parking is terrible as payment is by app only and there is little to no mobile signal at the park making it very difficult to pay. I happily use parking apps normally but the owners need to make sure it is actually possible to use mobile payments. Conversely the cafe is cash only. The park itself is fairly well maintained with good paths though a lot of the play equipment is out of order.

Despite there being a toddler area marked on the plan, in reality there wasn’t much for very young children, not even a toddler swing. Looks really good for older children though. Fortunately my granddaughter liked the sand.

Swimming is included in your stay. Not the biggest Center Parcs pool but this one is nice. Many slides and a kids section. Outdoor pool is accessible via an indoor swimming area so no need to run outside if its cold out :) Changing rooms are clean and new. Lots of single and family rooms, never had to wait to find an empty one. There are also disabled changing. Toilets are clean inside the swimming pool. Free showers you can use, some are hot others can be stone cold, check before stepping under! Showers can be a pain to trigger as they are touchless but don't respond half the time. Lockers are free and lock using your Center Parcs wrist band. If you forget your locker number there are devices on the wall. Lots of hair dryers. There are 2 swimming gear dryers, they are now free to use, and will spin dry very well (Still hang up to dry when back at your villa). Would be nice if more are provided as there can be quite a queue. The shop for swimwear is crazy expensive! Make sure to bring your own gear.

Omfg I forgot how many times I’ve been to thetford centre parcs but I’ll never grow out of loving this place. If you are after a family holiday in the uk then centre parcs thetford has everything you and your family need

Brilliant time at the pool today, lots of lifeguards present all around the area, everywhere was clean, the cyclone was amazing and the rapids are always super fun and a nice chill in the lagoon pool before a hot shower and done for the evening. Perfect!

The swimming paradise is breathtaking. It is truly stunning. However, with all the money that Center Parcs make, they should add more to it so that the queues in it for the rides get smaller. Overall, it is a very good swimming experience.

The fun Police have ruined the rapids. The rapids used to be packed with children and adults with all having fun. Now, the water flow has been turned down and for most of the way down you actually need to push yourself along to get down. In conclusion, Center Parcs have taken the best activity and made it into one of the most boring activity.

We liked the swimming paradise most. Not many places to eat out.

Myself my husband and two children aged 12 and 8 really enjoyed this place, there was something for everyone, multiple slides, different areas, lovely temp, outside rapids lovely to sit near water jets mid way and relax in the sun. Reasonable priced food available. Will defiantly be going back when we can.

Through the ages at Kentwell was a fantastic experience. It was a really relaxed day, those participating in the various recreations brought the house and garden to life. All played their characters brilliantly bring humour, realism and education to their roles. The gardens are so unusual and well kept with many unique things to see. Great for all ages with lots of participation. I can’t imagine anyone would be disappointed. A huge thank you to all involved in this wonderfully entertaining event!

Great place. I volunteer there. Lovely house with beautiful gardens and grounds. The place comes alive when they put on one of their events. If you can get to see everything in one visit you are a rare person. There is something for everyone. Wear sensible footwear. Oh and wonderful cakes in cafe

Kentwell Hall, a charming and atmospheric Tudor manor set in the Suffolk countryside, surrounded by peaceful gardens and a wide, tree-lined moat. We visited on a Saturday morning and found it wonderfully quiet, which made exploring the grounds feel even more special. The gardens are varied and beautifully maintained, with both formal and more natural areas to enjoy. We loved strolling through at our own pace, taking in the peaceful atmosphere. There’s also a café on-site serving drinks and some nice cakes - perfect for a mid-morning break. You can also buy fish food to feed the large fish in the moat, which was a fun thing to do. Altogether, it was an enjoyable visit to a place that feels both historic and welcoming.

We have spend a whole day at Kentwell Hall, as there are do much to see and do. As we went when they had the Tudor period on it was nice yo see how they lived, what they were eating, and how they kept themselves busy with all different activities. There was a lot of things for kids to do and participate but also to learn about Tudor times. The only downfall, it was the lack of bins and benches, for visitors to use.

We wanted to spend a last few hours sightseeing before returning home from our 4 day break in Suffolk. Booking the tickets online in advance saved us a few pounds and was very easy to do. Kentwell was fabulous, we spent a very interesting and pleasant hour in the grounds including the Tudor Farm. We then visited the house and it was fantastic, a very interesting place to visit, a real treasure.

Stunning, largely original Elizabethan moated house. Much of the massive service area looks like it was vacated yesterday. The ovens, the open hearth, the massive copper (laundry tub) all ready to go. Plus all the murals in their rooms above - which the puritans must have missed. Just brilliant and I work as a guide at an open air museum in Sussex of same period so not easily impressed. Also it's very relaxed - not like the usual suspects

#Scaresville 2025 was awesome ! Actors do a great job of emersing you in the experience and time their scares just right 👌🏻. The whole experience lasted a good hour and they do a great job ensuring you don't catch up to the groups in front. So funny hearing screams in the distance as you walk around. Really was great fun, will definitely be coming back next year ! 👻

Had a lovely day out here plenty of animals to see,some were hiding in their beds as it was a bit chilly but you could peep at them there. There's walk through areas to get up close. Plenty of food and drink cafes dotted through the zoo and picnic benches too. Definitely worth a visit.

Love a zoo trip!! such an enjoyable experience. Great variety of animals to see and even though it can be very busy you still see and enjoy it all. The animals all have great spacious enclosures and plenty of items in for them to enjoy. There is plenty of things to see and to do which is great. The Gift shop at the end is brilliant as well, has a great variety of things for all ages.

What an amazing zoological zoo. It's started off as wet and windy but cleared up as there was many indoor areas to visit. The meerkats took abit of coaching to get them outside but eventually came out. Feeding the giraffes was really good and exciting for the children. Well grown ups. The staff were really helpful and knew exactly where to send you when lost for the next adventure around the park. So many animals and looked in good care. Lots of schools visiting which was good to see. Well done teams.

Had a very nice day. Very nice experience during the visit. The zoo is very easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff is very nice and helpful. You can stroll around the park in a relaxing enjoyable atmosphere. The zoo is easily accesible for wheel chair users and the benches around the park come in handy for those who have issues walking longer distances. The zoo beeing situated in a field away from towns, villages is very nice and gives you a better touch with nature. The large animal section is very nice. Also note that animals might take a nap exactly when you want to film or take a photo of them...with patience you can still catch them moving around. The restaurant offers good food and you can enjoy the food outside in nice weather. Kids playground close to the restaurant. Toilets also around the park are clean. You can get a ride on a mini train. The souvenir shop is nicely organised, affordable prices. The plush animals are very nicely made. Definitely worth a day visiting. Best to buy tickets in advance. You'll find a nice biodiversity animal range. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Better buy tickets in advance or an year pass if you plan to visit more times.

Really enjoyable day and a huge variety of animals to see. It’s really well laid out and the animals all looked happy. The Africa section was impressive. The elephants and giraffes seemed happy. Every turn you took there was something new to discover. Food options were a bit hit and miss with long waits for average not even hot food. That was the only down side but went for the animals hence the 5 star review. The green anacondas were stunning as were the chimpanzees

I had an absolutely fantastic time visiting Colchester Zoo! One of the highlights of the day was the amazing train ride that took us on a scenic journey around the park, giving us a chance to see the majority of the animals from a unique and relaxing perspective. It was such a fun and convenient way to explore the zoo. Another great feature was the variety of informative talks held at different animal enclosures throughout the day. These talks gave us the chance to learn more about the animals, their behaviors, and conservation efforts, all while getting a closer look at them. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. Overall, it was a brilliant experience—perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals. Highly recommend visiting Colchester Zoo for a memorable and educational day out!

A great day out. I came with my six and ten year old and they loved the day. We didn't get to see all the animals but we did see most of them. We were there from 11.30 to 6pm l. There were plenty of places to sit and eat lunch/snacks. Lots of playgrounds, exhibits and interactive places.

Absolutely fascinating place. It is wonderful that these facilities have survived to this day and now we can learn more about workhouses and expand our knowledge about British history. We were very lucky to come just before an excursion started. I’m not sure how regular excursions are but I undoubtedly advise you to attend one if you have a chance. Caroline was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and very passionate about this place and its history. There is a cosy welcoming cafe, a good place to relax and recharge before continuing to explore this place. There is a farm you can visit. A children’s playground as well inside the facilities. Tickets are a bit pricey but it is worth a visit.

Great day out, you really need to allow at least half a day to see everything. Loved the village street old store, post office pub and cottage. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the workhouse had engaging exhibits. The farm and tractor ride were informative and great for youngsters (and the young at heart!) We had a fabulous ploughman's lunch in the cafe. The staff were all really friendly and knowledgeable, we really enjoyed our day and highly recommend this place.

So much to see and do. The workhouse was a history lesson in itself and the volunteers were friendly and helpful. There were carriages and steam engines, a small village complete with it's local alehouse, school and chapel. We arrived around lunchtime on Sunday and enjoyed a light lunch before walking around. Unfortunately for us we did not leave enough time to visit the farm but we will arrive earlier next time to fit this in. We will definitely be returning.

This is a fantastic day out. Lots to see, do and learn. The farm is lovely and the people on the farm are super knowledgeable and happy to interact with the kids. The lakeside walk is a must and this is where you will find the 'stamps'. The playground was a big hit and the cafe serves delicious food.

Brilliant!! So much better then we had expected- we spent the whole day here and didn’t even get round to the farm and play area which both looked great ! Every room, except had interactive bits - the children had a truly enjoyable day - we joined in with crafts in the chapel, dressed up all over the place and learnt so much. I would highly recommend this place to families. Lots of places to sit and eat a picnic or there is a little cafe. Staff were brilliant really friendly and helpfully.

Informative text and multimedia accompanying interesting historic artefacts in the museum. Good value cafe. Very friendly staff and lovely little farm with young piglets when I went! Succeeds in conveying what rural Norfolk life was like in the 19th century.

What a great day out, we took our older mothers and they loved it! It covers the history of the workhouse over time but also social history with recreated rooms and cottages over the ages. The cafe was excellent, great quiche and fabulously friendly staff. All of the staff were amazing, offering us motor scooters for our mum's to use to get to the farm. Thank you so much.

This is a lovely park, well maintained and with a diverse landscape, covering sport grounds, a play ground, a flower garden, tree lined walking paths, a lake, a koi pond, a sandpit and most famously - a castle. It’s great in any weather but summer and autumn are the best seasons to admire the spectacle of colors in the park.

We visited & stayed in Colchester to see James & Texas, as part of the summer series. Decided to visit castle & took part in the tour. Tour guide Gillian was fabulous, talked to us a lot & great knowledge. Castle is very interesting. We had fun in Colchester & found the people to be very friendly & helpful.

Saw Craig David at Lower Castle Park. Helpful staff, toilets were close by, amazing experience. One negative, if you don't know the area very well it's very hard to find the car park for events. I paid for parking but couldn't find where the car park was! 🤔😕

Castle Park in Colchester is the perfect spot to unwind on a warm summer’s day. The gentle rustle of leaves, the fresh breeze drifting through the trees, and the laughter of children playing create such a peaceful atmosphere. The playground is beautifully designed, giving kids plenty of space to run, climb, and explore. There’s even a drinking water tap close by, a small but thoughtful touch that keeps little adventurers refreshed during their play. The park is dotted with tall, leafy trees, offering cool shade and a sense of calm no matter how hot the day gets. Walking through, you can’t help but feel you’ve stepped into a place where history and nature blend seamlessly. The only thing missing from my visit was stepping inside the castle itself. It would have been incredible to wander through its ancient halls and imagine the stories it could tell, especially since it was my very first trip to Colchester.

Castle park concert - don't go VIP it's a complete waste of money. You get a spot furthest away from the stage with minimal views of the stage. The toilets were nice, but that's it. And whoever put the flags up needs sacking. They blocked the screens!!!

Just stunning really, it's obviously a well cared for park. I hope they will renovate the play lake one day. However, It was nice to see some of the old boats have been repurposed as planters.

Visited Banham Zoo this week and had the most amazing time. The animals are so well cared for with outstanding enclosures. We did The Big Cat Experience which was well worth the money as you get to spend time with and feed several big cats. Highly recommend!

Absolute brilliant place, we got there my chance, was in the area with some time to spare and discovered this brilliant diamond. As an experience, I would say it's the best Zoo I've been so far in the UK. I mean, they have a snow leopard. It's a completely brilliant place and just can't wait to go there again.

We decided to go on one of the hottest days so not many of the animals were out. It’s a very big area and caters brilliantly for the children. I love the fact you can hire buggies and mobility scooters, the train was always packed and there was plenty of staff around. I took off a star as even though it was a good day out wasn’t the best zoo we have visited and if we didn’t take our time we would have been round it in an hour! We loved the tropical area so much.

Nice enough zoo and can’t argue with the value after using the kids go free promotion for half term. The park itself is clean if not a little rundown. The selection of animals is disappointing and not anywhere near as good as Africa Alive. The food outlets are fantastic with all being spotlessly clean, excellent value and really delicious food. What a shame it’s such an utter shambles. Queue for ages to get in only to be met with a disgruntled team member who would rather do ANYTHING than speak to customers. We had prepaid the trick or treat packs and was told we could get these in the gift shop so we then had to queue up again for well over half hour for a lanyard and a a little pencil. These “packs” could have been at the main entrance. The staff on the gift shop were painfully slow and unorganised making the wait even longer and allowing multiple people to queue jump. There’s lots of work going on round the park to update and introduce enclosures which is exciting and we look forward to seeing.

Haven't been here for years and took my 7 year old granddaughter. Can't blame zoo but weather was so hot all the animals were hiding in shade so we're hard to see. Some enclosures and areas looked tatty and would have like a few more interactive things to interest children and adults around. We did love the train ride which was very popular.

I had a fantastic time at the zoo! The animals looked well taken care of, and the enclosures were spacious and clean. There was a wide variety of animals to see, from tiger to penguins and reptiles. I was amazed of the animals. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions. Definitely worth the visit. 😍

Brilliant zoo, found whilst on holiday and was pleasantly surprised! Really good selection of animals, all really well looked after, good food and a cracking day out! Would highly recommend!

Beware, this place kind of sucks you in, we had intended to spend a couple of hours here, but spent the majority of our day wandering around taking in the many and various exhibits. There is an area for Dad's Army fans, lots and lots of steam engines, industrial static beam, horticultural, construction and trains. Everything is well maintained and explained and it is a wonder that all of these machines still exist today to be seen and understood for years to come. The cafe is a bit chaotic, but gets the job done, toilets are fresh and clean and there is plenty of parking.

The staff and volunteers were fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. They were happy to share stories and answer questions The gardens are stunning too — peaceful, well-kept, and full of color. It’s the perfect mix of history and nature.

Great value for money. You can pay for the museum and gardens, or £5 more includes a ride around the gardens on the train. Tickets last all day so you can leave and return should you wish. The gardens are spectacular with a great varied selection of trees, flowers and shrubs. There's also a café and an ice cream stand with some very unique flavours. Very friendly staff too, so overall a great day out for a reasonable price.

We pre-booked our tickets and entry was quick and easy. Lots to do on this featured weekend. Lovely gardens, three different train tracks running with live steam locomotives. Agricultural machinery was featured including threshing demonstrations and other live steam traction engines both full sized and miniature. We had a disabled member in the party and access was even possible to onto some of the carriages so the ride could be shared by all of us. Nice garden centre with shops and plants etc. Good parking facilities and limited entry numbers so it was not uncomfortably busy. Nice restaurant and snack/coffee bar. Dad's Army feature in the museum and many unexpected items. Family friendly.

This places is absolutely amazing, 3 lines of trains to ride and 2 of them take about 20 minutes, but other other one has a turntable, nice to see. Run by very friendly volunteers. And there are Victorian gallopers to ride. A locomotive shed. Two smalls ones. But still good! And a big hall with Dad's army and various vehicles and a mail carriage. There's also a garden that i didn't visit due to time. Some complain here abut the café, but I brought my own food. Sorted. Didn't even try it. It's just an amazing and very unique place. I'd be sorry not to visit.

Well priced for a day out, plenty of attractions and things to see back in the days of steam, lots of areas for a picnic or well serviced cafe with proper coffee machine and fresh savoury and sweet items on offer. No dogs allowed unfortunately but very well kept grounds and lovely gardens to walk around in too.

A brilliant day out if you love trains! Buy the day explorer, with rides....you can ride all day, as many times as you like, we went on three different trains, they go different routes around the grounds. The Victorian Gallopers are great fun, and included in these tickets, the music adds to the brilliant atmosphere as well! There is also a brilliant little museum, with working model trains....the sheds with all the full size locomotivesare open for you to walk around inside, and explore the royal carriages etc....and beautiful gardens to wander in! There is a cafe, serving hot and cold food, and lovely ice cream as well! Fantastic value, and a great day out for train lovers of all ages!

Had a wonderful day out at Jimmy's wildlife park with my wife and two dogs. The only place dogs can't go is the butterfly and reptile enclosures. So much to see and a lovely environment. Ample activities for kids and buying animal feed gives you the chance to get close to a lot of different animals. We saw the bears... although sleepy as we passed and watched a couple enjoying an 'experience' and feeding the brown bears. Thoroughly recommend. 10/10 The shops are great too.

Website does not do it justice, the FARM section is pigs but the rest is a fine selection of a small scale zoo. Powerd wheelchairs available but we had our own and it copped just fine, its hard pac mostly and the off road bit was 1 little section which wont be there once they complete the other enclosure its only temporary. Amazing place, great for family and Adults, they offer wedding packages too, food and drink prices relevant to the times.

After watching the ch4 episode on the Brown 🐻, we decided to make the journey from South Yorkshire to Ipswich Suffolk. Very good visit, had around 3 hours+ on site, only animals we didn't see were the Wolf's & Coos otherwise a good place to visit. There was quite a bit of work going on so it'd be nice to visit again next year once it's all completed. Staff we came into contact with were very nice and helpful, we managed to be at the Polar Bear 🐻's when May have a talk on the P/Bears only to find 2 of them were from The Yorkshire Wildlife Park 7 miles from where we live in Doncaster...👍👍👍👍

We had our wedding at Jimmys farm this past weekend and it was without a doubt the best day of our lives. The rangers at the park were incredible happy to talk to all of our guests, our lemur experience was the best! The food was sensational all of our guests raved about it, in particular the roast beef course, and the venue was beautiful. Huge shout out to our wedding planner at Jimmys Claire, who had only been working at Jimmys for a few weeks before helping with our wedding but helped with everything and reassured us at every point. What an amazing day and venue xxx

Had an absolutely brilliant time at Jimmys yesterday. Such a beautiful and big place and you can clearly see that the animals have the best care. We fed Diego the brown bear and the experience was absolutely amazing. A huge thank you to May his keeper who went above and beyond spending time with us and chatting. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back!

Excellent park. The park is well laid out and easy to get to. It gets busy so book your spot and get in early or suffer the overflow parking (which is not far from the entrance). Good food at the restaurants and lots of places to explore. All the animals are easily viewed and petting is allowed on e of them (goats, donkeys, etc. ). No - you can’t pet wolves or polar bears :). Have fun!

Travelled from Scotland, just to visit the farm, was not disappointed. This place is totally amazing. The talks about the animals were educational & fun. Seeing the wolves was a highlight for me. Looking forward to seeing the new enclosure open, hopefully with a tiger or two? Keep up the great work. Highly recommend

It is an excellent place to visit the seaside. It was clean all over also car parking, toilets, sitting and eating place overall very good wonderful times I spent.

this is worth a visit has a very soft sandy beach which is well maintained and kept clean take a picnic enjoy a nice sunny day if you have young children be with them if they go in the water as tides are strong there is also an amusements to spend on the machines and much more the food is nice good day out

Lovely clean beach..big amusement centre with funfair and food shops on pier..lovely atmosphere..big ferris wheel..mini golf..excellent all inclusive wristband price which includes 5 different thing for kids including 3d encounter miningolf fun fair rides 50 free tokens and 5 arcade game rides..what more could you ask for..what a bargain value..£20 instead of £30 for a wristband when booked a day in advance online..I would suggest anyone to visit here..been here around 6 times in the past 2 years..booked caravans around here 3 times..and looking forward to coming more..also came by train with a bunch of friends..we enjoyed so much.

Great place to spend time with family and friends. Lots of entertainment, food stalls and even a pub. Or you can just walk alongside the beach and learn some history by visiting the Martello towers built during the Napoleonic wars and were part of the costal defence system

Visited Southend and Brighton Pier. Give Clacton Pier a try. Beach and pier were great, but places to eat and drink were area specific Need more small soft ice cream shops. Clean though. Recommended 👍

Beautiful clacton pier always holds avents for kids Halloween 6 weeks holidays etc… massive restaurant inside with endless fruit machine and games followed by more rides on pier outside which pushes far to the end of pier always nice to visit and walk along seafront towards Holland on sea

Absolutely fantastic. Came from Australia with my two year old and the pier kept her entertained for hours without spending any really money!

Great value all day wristband if bought in advance unlocks pretty much everything at the pier. We spent 7 hours here and had great fun. The stuff were all so friendly and added to the fun. Thank you for a great day out.

Newly reopened Norwich castle 2025. Well worth the visit, it's a combination of walking around a historical castle, museum exhibits and artefacts, fine art, natural history and a WW2 exhibit. There are screenplays/shows in the great hall which briefly go over the history of the castle, and there are good views out the windows and across the battlements. All items in exhibits are labelled and described, and there are display boards around the actual castle interior explaining parts of daily medieval life or the significance of certain design/areas of the castle. There are historical arms and armour on display if after pieces for artistic reference. The well is very very deep.

It was great to see the castle after the recent renovations. It's a fine building with some great exhibits and interactive elements for children. The views from the battlements are great, especially on a clear day. It's a bit pricey and there's no senior citizen discounts, otherwise it would be five stars

What an amazing place right on our doorstep. I've lived in Norwich 10 years and never been to the castle and what a gem of a place this is. I can't say how much it's improved since it's renovation, but wow there's so much to see! From the basement to the battlement they have honestly outdone themselves. We didn't get a chance to see it all sadly as we had two toddlers, but what we did see was amazing and definitely worth the price of admission.

I brought my 1 year old daughter here today. We had a lovely couple of hours exploring and taking some lovely photos. My only criticism is that we couldn't get around the whole castle as the lifts were out of order. My daughter was on her trike, and I wasn't prepared to carry her up and down stairs. We explored the museum and what we could of the castle. Plenty of activities for children. Very friendly and informative staff :)

Went to Norwich Castle today. It has been completely restored and is great. Only negative is maybe too restored. Looks almost new. Really good museum and art gallery too.

A very popular venue for a wedding ceremony and it's easy to see why! Norwich Castle, recently referbished is a gorgeous wedding ceremony venue. Slap bang in the centre of the city, it gives stunning views of the city, and the room is beatiful. Have a peek at the images to see what your wedding ceremony could look like!

Renovation work was excellent. Museum very good- certainly the Norfolk regiment one. Not into art or taxidermy but if you are there is a lot to see. Videos in the great room are informative. A little disappointed that there are no images of before restoration and the after work- would have been great to know the transformation if never visited prior imo. Well worth a visit.

This cathedral deservedly made Norwich a proper Christian city when Normans began construction in 1096. It boasts the 2nd largest extant spire of a British cathedral (this iteration standing since 1485). The cathedral doesn’t have a peal (unlike the storied nearby St Peter of Mancroft) for which only 4 stars are given. The church has received a modern hostry and refectory in the 2000s, where modern toilets can be found as well as a three-quarters decent contracted vendor for the café, the Bread Source. The wood and glass structure makes for a pleasant space and a good entrance, where entry is subject to a voluntary donation. The close is also lovely and home to several businesses, a college, and private residences.

Beautiful place and really helpful staff! Staff arent pushy for donations which is great as many places are pushy. Free tours makes visiting very affordable. Would definitely reccommend for half a day/a full day out. We went at 11am on a Wednesday during the October half term and it wasn't busy at all. They had activities like colouring avaliable for children.

Easily the best to look at for stained glass. This place is vibrant!, well lit and all of it accessible. We travel the length of the vou try looking st cathedrals and so far this has been the best one we've seen. The people here are friendly and approachable. Fantastic parking just moments from the cathedral and be sure to keep an eye out for there cat. 10/10 would recommend visiting here.

Unfortunately couldn't spend as long here as would have liked. Understandably but without forethought closed part of this morning for remembrance day. Managed to wonder round inside afterwards and was guided expertly by 1 of the tour guides to the locations of the 2 people's graves/tombs/plots we we're looking for. Glad we went back after remembrance and most definitely worth the £5 each charity donation. The building itself is in excellent condition considering its 900 years of existence.

Beautiful large cathedral,glorious stain glass windows. Dogs allowed. A lovely inner grass area with a surprising maze in the middle. A small shop for souvenirs. It has its own cat which gave the side eye. A very modern brass font as well as the traditional one..lovely grounds to explore. Paix for parking a short walk away.

We were inspired to visit by actor Tony Robinson, whose enthusiasm in the Time Team Sutton Hoo dig series is infectious. That said, our visit was not as excellent as we had hoped, and the reason was mostly how the Sutton Hoo story is told. Although there is significant East Anglian historical information online, and the National Trust web pages provide contextual information in manageable chunks, the story told onsite is not as seamless. Indeed, it’s a bit fragmented, with a bit found here, and a bit there. Moreover, we were unable to find much information during our visit about the modern excavations that create the storyline for the Time Team series. Other reviewers have mentioned that a guided tour brings many of these pieces together, but none was available when we visited. We found Tranmer House to be quite interesting because of the information available and the somewhat innovative display methods being used, but it was a bit of a challenge to follow the storyline because there is no directional advice in the rooms. The highlight of the house displays is the collection of 1939 dig photographs by amateur photographers Mercie Lack and Barbara Wagstaff. Similarly, the High Hall exhibition space near the main entrance is designed to be explored in one direction, but without any indication of where one should start, we were halfway around in the opposite direction before we sensed we were seeing things in the wrong order. The hall’s current exhibition “The Dig: A Story Unearthed,” which explores the making of the 2025 Netflix film, is excellent. As for the mounds themselves, they’re pretty unremarkable to see, but the walk to and from was nice. So, our summary: Definitely go, but read up before your visit, and arrange a guided tour if possible. Our visit was about 2.5 hours.

Well worth the visit if your holidaying in this area. Time team were there too filming a dig. Edith pretty home is lovely, and the grounds are a must to walk. The mounds are explained when u go up the tower to observe.

Such a great day out! Right from the friendly staff in the ticket office, to the very knowledgeable guides around the site, everything is well organised. The tour of the mounds is fascinating, the house is also steeped in interesting items and the "Dig" exhibition is amazing. Don't miss the lovely walk down to the river through the forest and fields of sheep. Back to the cafe for reasonably priced delicious food and drinks. The fresh cream tea was perfect. Thanks to all for making the day special.

An interesting destination and quite different from other National Trust sites. The car park is fairly small but there us an overflow car park available. The main exhibition hall and cafe and shop are next to the car park, which is really handy if anyone in your group has mobility issues. It's a short walk to the house, which has some interesting displays and activities. The burial mounds are about 10 minutes beyond the house. Overall I would say this is very family orientated, with lots of activities for children but if you aren't a member the price is quite high compared to other NT properties.

Excellent exhibition and staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Great facilities, lovely walks and views, with viewing tower of burial mounds and paths surrounding. Nice walk down to the river Deben with views over Woodbridge.

Very kind and helpful guides. They looked after us well and supplied an all-terrain wheelchair for one of our party to use. Quite a large site with several areas to discover. The burial mounds, whilst archaeologically important, are a tad underwhelming. The exhibition Hall is well laid out with both original and reproductions and the guide there was very helpful. Of course the shop and cafe are very good as I now come to expect.

We arrived about 9:50 and there were 4 cars ahead of us in the queue, and they opened the gates bang on 10am. For the first hour it was quiet and peaceful; everything set out for the kids this summer holiday was accessible and colourful, and once the exhibition hall was opened, you had an uninhibited chance to see the artefacts. Staff were friendly and we were lucky with the weather too. It was our first visit as we holidayed in the area, and when my boys are older, I think they will enjoy it a lot more.

Lovely quiet museum packed with history, loads to see, I would say 40% is outside but the rest is indoors. Dogs welcome, small coffee shop with a limited selection but you can sit inside and admire the aircraft.pay your £10 admission and gift aid it and you get a years free return. Would go back for sure.

Great local aviation museum crammed with aircraft and exhibits. Until recently, there was no entrance charge. However, they have been forced to change that policy. It's good value all the same - if you GiftAid you can return as many times as you like for the year. There were a number of volunteer staff (wearing blue bibs) around to answer questions and carry out cockpit tours. In some of the smaller buildings, homage is paid to the locally based WWII USAAF B-24 Liberator unit 'the Bungay Buckaroos', the RAF Air Sea Rescue service, Bomber Command and the Royal Observer Corps. There are two hangars full of artefacts, cockpits, and aircraft of all eras. A shop and café were also available. Looking after such a large external collection in a rural area must be a real challenge; unsurprisingly, a couple of the aeroplanes are awaiting their new lick of paint, but they are to be generally applauded. My visit was all too fleeting and I hope to return soon.

Beautiful small collection from the 446 Bomb Group, which was of particular importance to us because we have a family connection to it. Lots of planes that you can go up close to and see, and a small museum with uniforms and bits and bobs. Wonderful place to spend time!

We visited the NASAM as part of a Lego exhibition. The Lego exhibition was awesome and is a yearly event held entirely for the benefit of the museum (a charitable trust). There were a number of models on display and activities to do. If you local keep an eye out on the museums website / Facebook page to see when the next one is (June). The museum itself was just incredible.. the amount of planes, helicopters and other artifacts that the museum has on display was immense. There's lots of rooms and hangars etc around the main hangar to look through as well. You can get tickets to sit inside some of the aircraft which was amazing as most places wont let you near! The gift shop had a good selection of things to buy. The cafe served tea and coffee with cakes icecream and stuff, the drinks where in actual cups which was a pleasant surprise. The ticket price is £10 per person but can be upgraded for free to a season ticket, and you will want to go back again as there is so much stuff to see a second (and even more) visit would be well worthwhile. It was an amazing event and we will be bsck again for the exhibition next year and will visit the museum again the next time we're in the area.

Great museum to visit, 10£ for an adult and if gift-aided it gives you entry for a year. There are lots of displays, both indoors and out. With access to certain planes and cockpits available through asking in the shop. Every item has a description of what it is, and the larger/more signficant items have longer explainations about the item. There are some truly unique pieces at this museum, and there is A LOT more museum than it first appears. The volunteers are all really friendly and knowledgable. Cafe on site with tea/coffee/cake, gift shop, & a bookstore/bric-a-brac. Fun things to look for: a) the plane with polish colours on one side, czech on the other, and b) the plane which is technically still on the USA's books.

Excellent, £10 a ticket, lasts a year if you giftaid it. A lovely family day out.

I highly recommend BeWILDerwood, it’s such a great place for kids (& us adults!). There’s plenty to do, slides, zip wires, adventure playgrounds, mazes, swings, balancing beams & climbing walls. We also really enjoyed lunch here, plenty of choice & reasonably priced. The staff are really lovely & helpful also. We arrived 15 minutes early to queue up & headed straight to the boat which I would recommend, when we arrived back from the boat ride it was very busy!! Definitely a full day of fun!

What a quirky little (by that we mean huge) place! Loved this magical little find! With little ones in tow who love the outdoors- this was absolutely perfect for a blend of adventure, play and some good Norfolk fresh air! The zip line, climbing wall, slides and tree huts kept them entertained for the day- we did eat at the restaurant to warm up, food was good- no complaints and wasn’t a silly price like Lots of the in resort eateries can be at these places. Price to get in is quite expensive but when you get a full day of fun and some very tired children at the end of it, it’s worth it! The boat ride into the park was also very exciting for two youngsters! Bewilderwood- much love from us for an amazing day

Great place to take younger children and a giggle or two for adults too. The site is well laid out with a huge amount of climbing and sliding options to contend with. The aerial maze was particularly good and the boat ride around the lake is a must do. Good facilities with food and drink options but also plenty of tables for picnics. Eating whilst the shows are on is a great tip and many people do it as it’s undercover so if a hot day provides shade or a wet day provides sanctuary. I would definitely recommend it for a fun family day out.

What a fantastic place. I was concerned by the ticket price but it was worth every penny. We got there for opening and it was busy but we went on everything and only had to queue for the boat ride and the bigger zip wire but everything else was easily accessible. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we had a fantastic day. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a fun packed day out.

Great day with my 8 year old. The various adventure areas are huge and as an adult I was able to take part too. My daughter particularly loved the drop slides, sky maze, and the boat ride with Jade (who is fantastic at their job). Lots of tree cover so would be great on a hot day. Even saw a slow worm!

Excellent place for kids who love the outdoors! Plenty of activities to get involved in as well as a selection of food places to eat. The sky bridges/climbing frames and slides were fun even for my 3yo. The prices were excellent too and we spent 5hrs there! The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Majority of the place had paths but there were a few spots that the pram struggled.
