The main feature of this public square is a collection of statues with an equestrian theme. Situated amidst grand buildings, it stands alongside other notable squares like Piazza Duomo. The two equestrian sculptures by Mochi at Palazzo Gotico provide a distinctive backdrop to Piazza Cavalli, which has become the city's emblem. In addition to this, there are several other noteworthy sites worth exploring in the vicinity.

(Translated by Google) The façade of the Palazzo Gotico in Piacenza is an excellent example of northern Italian secular Gothic – striking, symmetrical, and highly geometric. Below are its detailed characteristics: ⸻ 🎨 Characteristics of the Façade of the Palazzo Gotico (Piacenza) 🧱 1. Materials and Colors • Red brick dominates the upper part of the façade – typical of Lombard Gothic. • White marble in the lower section creates a strong contrast – elegant, decorative, typical of urban architecture from the late 13th century. ⸻ 🏛 2. Horizontal Division (Two-Story Composition) 🔸 Lower Floor (Loggia): • Consists of six large pointed-arch arcades supported by massive marble columns with simple capitals. • This is an open public space – typical of Gothic town halls in Italy (broletto). 🔸 Upper Floor: • Built of brick, with rhythmically arranged tripartite pointed-arch windows (so-called biforia or triforia with tracery). • The windows have a light, openwork structure that breaks the heaviness of the structure. ⸻ 🧱 3. Cornice and Battlement (Clanterns) • The façade is crowned with a decorative battlement – a row of brick "teeth" (merlons), giving the building a fortified character. • Symbolically refers to the strength of the city's power. ⸻ 🛡 4. Heraldic Elements and Inscriptions • The façade displays the coats of arms of the city of Piacenza and the nobles. • A foundation inscription from 1281, recalling the founder – Alberto Scotto, is often found there. (Original) Fasada Palazzo Gotico w Piacenzy to doskonały przykład północnowłoskiego gotyku świeckiego – efektowna, symetryczna i silnie zgeometryzowana. Poniżej jej szczegółowa charakterystyka: ⸻ 🎨 Charakterystyka fasady Palazzo Gotico (Piacenza) 🧱 1. Materiały i kolorystyka • Czerwona cegła dominuje w górnej części fasady — typowe dla gotyku lombardzkiego. • Biały marmur w dolnej partii tworzy silny kontrast – elegancki, dekoracyjny, typowy dla budownictwa miejskiego z końca XIII wieku. ⸻ 🏛 2. Podział poziomy (dwukondygnacyjna kompozycja) 🔸 Dolna kondygnacja (loggia): • Tworzy ją sześć dużych ostrołukowych arkad, wspartych na masywnych marmurowych kolumnach z prostymi kapitelami. • To otwarta przestrzeń publiczna — typowa dla gotyckich ratuszy we Włoszech (broletto). 🔸 Górna kondygnacja: • Zbudowana z cegły, z rytmicznie rozmieszczonymi trójdzielnymi oknami ostrołukowymi (tzw. biforia lub triforia z maswerkami). • Okna mają lekką, ażurową strukturę, która przełamuje ciężkość bryły. ⸻ 🧱 3. Gzyms i krenelaż (blankowanie) • Fasadę wieńczy dekoracyjny krenelaż – rząd ceglanych „zębów” (merlonów), nadający budowli warowny charakter. • Symbolicznie odwołuje się do siły władzy miejskiej. ⸻ 🛡 4. Elementy heraldyczne i inskrypcje • Na fasadzie widoczne są herby miasta Piacenzy i możnowładców. • Często znajduje się tam napis fundacyjny z 1281 roku, przypominający o fundatorze – podescie Alberto Scotto.

I enjoyed the meal at Taverna Rabarbaro, finding it to be a satisfactory dining experience. While the hype surrounding the restaurant may be exaggerated, being in New York City offers a multitude of diverse food options that can make it challenging to critique establishments when away from home. In this regard, Taverna Rabarbaro holds up well within its location.
Loved everything about it...a very creative and refined way to refurbish a laundry place into a bar/restaurant ..and instagrammable too 😉 the dishes were exquisite and truly special. Wished that the wine list would have been a tiny bit more extensive, maybe adding also some local or Italian wines but whenever in Piacenza, I will return for sure ❤️

It is a humble seeming place and location, but the food here is cooked with love and passion that is both nourishing and delicious. I have lived in Piacenza for two years but prior to last week I had never been to this place. Since that time, I returned almost every day with my parents, who both enjoyed this restaurant and insisted that we go back again. I was taken aback at first because of the quality; this place seems as though it would belong on the side of the road in a hill town somewhere, and not in the city of Piacenza. There is both a standard menu and a list of daily specials. I tried both and so far everything has been outstanding. The raviolis and pastas (tortelli, in particular) are my favorites, but I don't think you can go wrong. I also appreciate the ease with which you can order a decent salad here. The lunch service with Deborah was also excellent. It gets pretty crowded for lunch, but I haven't been for dinner. I hope to return in a few months.

The menu at Trattoria Da Vittorio is a true testament to authentic Italian cuisine. Each dish is a masterpiece of flavor and craftsmanship. The ingredients are fresh, and the attention to detail in the preparation is evident. One of the standout dishes was the homemade pasta. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the sauces were rich and bursting with flavor. It was like a culinary journey through Italy with every bite. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who were passionate about their food and happy to offer recommendations. It added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Whether you're a fan of pasta, or classic Italian desserts, Trattoria Da Vittorio has something to satisfy every palate. Trattoria La Forchetta is a highly enjoyable dining establishment offering simple yet sophisticated and flavorsome cuisine. The staff are welcoming and amiable, while the chef exhibits excellent knowledge of their ingredients, delivering prideful and uncomplicated culinary creations. This delightful restaurant was recommended by the hotel grande albergo di Roma staff as an unexpected gem. Although one diner noted that the waitress could have been friendlier, overall it was a good experience.
an excellent lunch! everything we tried was fantastic. we started with typical cold cuts that melted in our mouths and gnocco fritto, freshly made and probably the best I’ve ever had. bread and condiments were on the house, with plenty of refills. the tortelli and tagliatelle were both delicious, and even the vegetables were packed with flavor. to top it all off, dessert was amazing. the service was kind but a bit rushed, they almost took my plate while i was still eating. aside from that, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy some delicious local food.
