Food & Drink Festivals
The International Alba White Truffle Fair is a must-visit event for food enthusiasts. Held in mid-November, this fair showcases the rare and highly-prized Alba white truffle, also known as 'white gold.' Visitors can join truffle hunting expeditions with trained hounds through oak forests and then savor their unearthed treasures with a glass of wine. The festival also features other culinary delights such as Nebbiolo, the region's iconic red grape.
Attending the International White Truffle Fair in Alba, held annually in October and November, was an unforgettable experience. This world-famous event truly lives up to its reputation, offering an exceptional celebration of flavors, traditions, and culinary artistry. The highlight, of course, was the white truffle itself—its aroma and taste are unlike anything else. We had the chance to taste truffles in various dishes, each more exquisite than the last. From simple pasta infused with the earthy, delicate flavor of truffles to more inventive culinary creations, every bite was a delight. Beyond the truffles, the fair was a treasure trove for food lovers. We discovered an incredible variety of regional products, from artisanal cheeses to fine cured meats, all of the highest quality. And the wine! Alba is in the heart of Piedmont, home to some of Italy’s finest wines, including Barolo and Barbaresco. There were countless opportunities to taste these exceptional wines, perfectly paired with the local cuisine. The fair wasn’t just about food and drink—it was a feast for the senses. We wandered through beautifully decorated stalls, met passionate producers, and even witnessed truffle hunting demonstrations. The atmosphere was lively, yet intimate, with a deep respect for the traditions and craftsmanship that make Alba’s truffles so unique. This event is a must for anyone who appreciates good food, fine wine, and authentic experiences. We left with full hearts (and full stomachs), already dreaming of coming back next year. If you’re looking for a luxurious yet deeply rooted gastronomic adventure, the Alba White Truffle Fair is simply unbeatable.

I think this has a lot of potential but the market organizers do a disservice to the customers and booths by having a monopoly on the food. What I mean is that none of the booths there selling truffles, cheeses, etc are allowed to sell cooked food; only the main organizers of the event can, and their food options suck. I would love to see the booths be allowed to sell their projects cooked, like a truffle-cheese sandwich or something. To be honest, the market options are extremely limited. Truffles, nuts, a few cheeses repeated over and over. A rather boring market.
Bret M — Google review
Worth it, but suggest you just pay the 6€ entry and then go to the side where they are tasting wines and not the long lines where they are taking tickets for mediocre donated wines. Go to those sampling and just ask for a glass, sample away.
Josh G — Google review
There are many sellers of truffles and other foods and wine from the region. You can talk first hand with truffle hunters. Make sure to come early because it gets crowded. We also did the sensory experience which was nice

Opens on Saturday and Sunday during October & November. This is a must do if you are in the area of Alba during this time. You will not find the variety of Truffles, local meats, wines and hazelnuts any where else. BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE, line to buy at the door was over 100 people. Online tickets had no one, we walked right in. Wine tasting comes with a wineglass and carrier. We bought a lot of regional products and had a blast.

The weekend was difficult. Super crowded. Only 2 food stands, long queue for the wine tasting. But if you're there to specifically buy truffles, you'll have a great time. You can buy truffles from actual truffle hunters, and have your purchase appraised by experts
Janmesh P — Google review
Great place to buy truffles, wine and other local specialities. You can also have lunch. The entrance fee is 4 EUR if you add 9 you can have a tasting glass and 2 wine tastings. The only condition to enter is a valid covid pass
Christian K — Google review
I really love this festival - I’ve been several times now and Alba itself rolls out the red carpet for the fest too. The booths are so much fun, be sure to get the wine tasting options it’s fun - there’s a whole row of vintners too taste wine as well. The tartufo smell is super strong but I love it - it always surprises me! Mellow and intense and I really love the oil that is easy to purchase with family run farms and booths with personal service. Loved the cheese tastings too! 🧀

Begin by reaching out to the local tourism board of Alba, Bra, Langhe and Roero, known as Consorzio Turistico Langhe Monferrato Roero. This organization can connect you with operators in the area, while also offering tours on their website that feature vintage car outings. The reception and information provided at the tourist office in Alba were exceptional.
We had such a terrific time with Carlo and his dog! The day couldn’t have been better and Carlo shared his knowledge and passion for the truffle and hunting them. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves truffles.

We had a fantastic time on the tour Langhe prepared for us . The tour guides were excellent, helpful and knowledgeable. We loved truffle hunting, the vineyards, restaurants and learning about hazelnuts, the sights and smells of the cities. The hotels were very good each with it's own specialty. Everything went smoothly. We highly recommend the Langhe group.

What a fabulous experience! Admittedly, I had waited until the last minute to book experiences while staying in Alba and was completely overwhelmed by what to choose. My hotel let me know about Langhe Experiences and they were able to quickly curate a completely custom 2 day adventure for my husband and me - inclusive of personal drivers, vineyard visits & private tastings, a lunch at a Michelin star restaurant, a cooking class & private lunch on a hazelnut farm and truffle hunting with an expert and his really, really cute dog! Langhe Experiences exceeded all expectations and we'll be talking about this trip for years to come!

My wife and I traveled on our honeymoon to the Piedmont area in Italy. We wanted to book some activities and ChatGPT recommended this outfit. I reached out to them and was able to communicate with Mara very easily. I thought the pricing was very fair. They arranged an afternoon of horseback riding for us, a morning truffle hunt with an experience guide and his dog and a third day with a private guide for an E bike experience. The truffle hunt was particularly fun. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and taught us so much about what is involved and we fell in love with his dog. It’s been very dry this season so the conditions were not optimal but we did find two black truffles and one reasonably sized white truffle. I would recommend this outfit highly.

Our days in Piemonte were fantastic thanks to good planning and a variety of tastings of both trufle, cheese and of course wine

Many thanks to the team at the booking office for the smooth and highly professional organization of our incentive trip. The truffle hunt was the highlight of the tour. The two professional tour guides also impressed us with their extensive knowledge of the country, its people, and its cuisine. It was a pleasure working with you.

We used Langhe to help plan our Zurich and Milan trips. They were extremely helpful. From hotels, personal walking tours, drivers, boat tours -- They made our trip so much more enjoyable. We went to corners of these cities we would have never found on our own. Thank you Elena, Christina, and Christian! We learned about history, architecture, art, people -- so interesting. We would use Langhe again for all our future travel needs.

Your excellent reception of us and the way you informed us in the tourist office in Alba about the city and the surrounding region was really good. In addition, the different tours you have set up on your home page where we today drove by our own car the “Langa del Barolo” Tour. Breathtaking! As we had planned only to spend 40 hours in the region, including 2 nights, this tour and some really good meals gave us everything and more of what we were looking for! You really represent Italy at its best.

Piedmontese restaurant
Osteria dei Sognatori is a popular traditional Piedmontese restaurant located in the heart of Alba. The warm and relaxed setting offers a unique dining experience with no fixed menu, allowing guests to enjoy whatever the kitchen has available. The restaurant is filled with character, adorned with football memorabilia and vintage pictures, creating a cozy atmosphere. Guests praise the exceptional hosts, Giulia and Sergio, who ensure a delightful dining experience with their outstanding selection of wine, pasta, and tiramisu.
Phenomenal friendly fast service. I came for the bresato di barolo and it rocked my world. Staff is so welcoming and its a very communal family style restaurant. Met two winemakers from New York finger lakes and enjoyed a fabulous barbaresco. They put it on heavy for tourists. Go here. Enjoy. Laugh talk and toast.

Nice cozy restaurant, Good honest food with good price. We have mixed antipasti that contains 4 items in generous size and very tasty! And we also get extra salad The Tajarin and Ravioli were also delicious Highly Recommended!

Traditional, but these dreamers may want to keep on dreaming. Veal carne cruda (battuta) was outstanding with an olive oil forward, salty taste (truffles available to put on it, but we opted out). Peperoni with bagna fredda a little uninspired. Pumpkin/squash soup starchy, bland, and desperately in need of some attention and inspiration: acid, fat, & salt all lacking. Busy place, hard to get waiter attention.

Amazing place in Alba. The pasta was incredible, very light as I never eat before and so delicious. Convivial place and nice ambiance. I really recommend you to go there

Went here for lunch on a Friday during the Truffle Festival. Luckily they had two places available. Food and wine was simply sensational. We asked for shaved tartufo on our pasta and they were happy to do so. The cost was worth it. Very friendly waiter. Do yourself a favour and make a booking early so you do not miss out. Five stars is not enough!

La Piola is a casual bistro in a bright dining room with a terrace on Michele Ferrero Square. Led by chef Dennis Panzeri, it offers traditional Piedmontese dishes with a modern twist. The menu includes homemade agnolotti with roasted veal sauce and hazelnut cake with hazelnut ice cream, all made from first-class ingredients sourced from top suppliers. The restaurant also provides an excellent wine selection and a lovely view of the plaza from its terrace.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The scent of truffles filled the air, adding a luxurious touch to the whole evening. We also really enjoyed the biodynamic wine – it was excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. Highly recommended!

I was here for a business dinner. Top notch food and service. Get the appetizer tasting plate if you have a hard time deciding, you won’t regret it!
Clara F — Google review
Solid 3, light 4 rating. Fast service, nice staff, good food. We paid a hefty price for a dish with butter noodles and white truffles so we could try the truffles. The dish overpowered the truffle flavor, which was a bit of a disappointment for such an expensive dish. You also feel a bit like you are sitting in a fish bowl when seated in the glass box in the plaza. Historic Alba seems to have a lot of overpriced, touristy restaurants but this one is definitely one of the better options!

Osteria dell'Arco is a classic meeting point in the Langhe, located in the center of Alba. It's a popular spot for both locals and visitors to enjoy well-made Piedmontese dishes without any frills. The restaurant offers a great selection of regional food, including vitello tonnato and carne cruda, as well as tajarin and agnolotti del plin at reasonable prices.
In love with this restaurant. I had the best sweetbreads I’ve ever had, came with caramelized onions, stunning . Absolutely amazing and a must. The tajarin with ragú was also amazing. Great quality pastas. We also did the ravioli en rabbit. Very accessible prices. Short but good wine list. It was full of locals which is always a good sign. A very casual spot with great food and service.

The tajarin with truffle was amazing! Super delicate, great quality butter, generous portion of shaved white truffles, the pasta super tasty, handmade. I ordered the beef with mushrooms on the recommendation of the waiter. It was good, but the meat was a tad chewy. I still ate it, but compared to the pasta, oh my Lord! I sat outside, the atmosphere was lovely, tucked away from the piazza, and the service was on point. Super kind staff.

Excellent lunch in a friendly, local restaurant we only realized after sitting down is affiliated with Boccondivino and Slow Food in Bra. Every dish was delicious: gazpacho, vegetable meatball starter, homemade pastas, vegetables and guinea fowl. 🤌
Doughvakiin — Google review
Our waiter is the same one we had in Bra at Boccondivino! White truffles with agnolotti del plin and tajarin, fassona (beef) marinata (cruda) with cheese & nocciole (extra yum!), chanterelles with black truffles, Marcenasco Barolo 2020, veal tongue, meltingly soft snails, Panna cotta and chocolate. Slow Food continues it's mission of simple authentic food done very well but not trying to be fancy.
Samsunshine L — Google review
Best veal tartare of my life and its incredible to have a 10 euro glass of barolo. Was recommended by local truffle shop. Great business lunch spot and cozy romantic dinner spot.
J B — Google review
The atmosphere here feels very authentic and the service was good. I really liked that they offer half bottles of wine, which is perfect for a lunch for two. The food quality was good, but for an osteria the prices are on the higher side and the portions quite small. Also, having a door open directly to the noisy kitchen takes away a bit from the premium feel that the décor and prices suggest. Otherwise, everything was nice, good food and kind service.
Oriana S — Google review
Had a great refreshing lunch here. My partner and I shared a couple antipasti dishes and then had the cheese platter. The antipasti’s were fresh and delicious, and the cheeses were incredible, especially when drizzled with the honey. Would recommend!
Alexander W — Google review
If you visit Alba, you MUST visit this restaurant. I strongly recommend the Tajarin; it’s made with forty egg yolks and Alpine butter. Ask to have white truffle too in it. At first you might think the Tajarin is bland, but as you take your second, third, nth bites, it becomes EXPONENTIALLY BETTER EACH BITE. It is simple, but absolutely heavenly. It is divine. Please, please, don’t skip that dish! I’d give it an infinity number of stars out of five! I love it so much!!

Italian restaurant
Located in the old town section of Langhe in Alba, Piazza Duomo is a renowned gastronomic temple with three Michelin stars. Chef Enrico Crippa reinvents traditional dishes with a focus on vibrant natural hues, offering a bespoke dining adventure where individuality reigns supreme. The restaurant, opened by the Cerreto family in 2005, promotes the culture of good living and offers an exceptional wine selection.
Dining at Piazza Duomo in Alba was an extraordinary experience. The meal was nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the chef's remarkable creativity and artistic flair. Each dish was a masterful composition, not only delighting the palate but also captivating the eye. The thoughtful presentation and innovative flavors transformed the dining experience into a celebration of culinary art. I left with a profound appreciation for the craftsmanship and passion that defines this remarkable establishment.

After a deeply disappointing experience at another 3-star restaurant in Italy, Piazza Duomo completely restored our faith in fine dining. As hospitality professionals who regularly visit top-tier restaurants, we were truly blown away by the attention to detail, flawless execution, and warm, attentive service from the moment we walked in. Every dish was not only technically perfect but full of soul, creativity, and balance. The presentation was refined, the pacing impeccable, and the menu took us on a journey that was both exciting and deeply satisfying. Even the smallest elements – from plate choices to wine pairings – were carefully considered and harmoniously integrated. Unlike many “bucket list” restaurants that rest on their name, Piazza Duomo delivers on every promise and more. Chef Enrico Crippa and his team create an experience that feels personal, elegant, and genuinely world-class. We left not just impressed, but inspired. Truly deserving of its three stars – and more.
Remy — Google review
We truly appreciated the warm service and the immersive kitchen experience - it’s something we will never forget and will remain grateful for. However, the food itself was, to be honest, quite disappointing. And I don’t say this lightly, as someone who deeply appreciates gastronomy and the creativity and effort that goes into it. Still, I believe honest feedback is an important part of this experience. The only truly memorable dish was the signature salad - which, interestingly, was not part of the tasting menu and had to be paid separately (think 5 euros). The mushroom dish was very good, while the risotto and veal were just fine but nothing extraordinary. The beet “three-set” course was especially underwhelming; the beet sandwich with cream cheese and caviar was, frankly, one of the worst sandwiches I’ve ever had - and coming from the UK, that says a lot 🥲 Dessert also felt rather ordinary. Overall, I could not believe this was three-star food quality, although we really appreciated the experience. I think the star is for the creativity and techniques of using of different veggies and herbs… I am hoping that they can do a bit more for on the flavours themselves because I do want to be back! 🙏🏼

An absolutely unforgettable experience at Piazza Duomo in Alba, led by the extraordinarily talented chef Eduardo Crippa. What stood out most for me was not only the exquisite food but the impeccable service—warm, professional, and almost theatrical in its flawless choreography. The young staff carried everything with grace and humor, creating a truly joyful atmosphere. It felt like watching a perfectly rehearsed dance: courses arriving in unison for both of us, glasses refilled seamlessly, and plates whisked away the moment they were finished—so light on their feet, I was in awe. It’s no surprise that Piazza Duomo has earned its three Michelin stars. We chose The Journey—eight incredible courses. Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly eat another bite, a new dish would arrive and somehow we found room to savor it all over again. The staff’s knowledge was exceptional; they anticipated every question, explained each dish with clarity, and even surprised us with an extra course tailored specifically to our preferences—something they had thoughtfully asked about before our reservation. A dining experience that was not just a meal, but a true work of art.

Every dishes at piazza duomo feels like a piece of art, elegant, balanced and full of emotion. The white truffles menu captures the essence of Alba with incredible precision and creativity. Service is warm yet impeccable, and the wine pairing is simply outstanding.

⭐⭐⭐(Michelin). 37 dishes in nine courses at #32 in the world, Piazza Duomo (conveniently located in Piazza Duomo) in Alba. We chose the garden forward "The Journey" menu rather than the white truffle or Barolo menu. Colors, flavors, smells, textures, taste in a horrifically over-bright 100% LED spotlight lit dining room, cafeteria style floors and Barbiecore pink walls with amateur-night interpretive images painted on the too-bright pink wall. The carne cruda stuffed green olive was salty but amused my bouche, JC loved the shellfish version in the black olive. Little flowers on little cheese on cracker quite delicious. Savory salted caramel pudding with (mushroom?) broth was fantastic, and escarole sorbet intriguing. Pumpkin with a single chestnut didn't evoke autumn. 21-31-41-51-61-Hike salad, though a trendsetter, it's tough having seen it other places first, but ginger sesame dashi was very tasty. Uni was a massive, ammonia laden shame of a miss, yuck! (I didn't send it back, but it was that bad) Milazzo has ruined me for sea urchin that is not quite literally pulled out of the sea and eaten. Cod with onion and saffron veil (gel!) was undoubtedly the most perfectly cooked piece of fish this palate has had in the past 54 years. Very small and meaty borscht is exactly how it should be served! Caviar finally made an appearance on the crazily friable (not in a good way) savory beet Moon Pie. Hazelnut savory cruffin (my word, not theirs) was exceptional and location/season appropriate. Gels (er, hydrocolloids) everywhere... Like 20 of them. The main other trick was super thin micro-layers of things, a demonstration of technical skill, but not a good choice if you want your diner to taste your food. Chiaroscuro esoteric cuttlefish, meh... High minded but didn't go anywhere. Camomile (gel!!!) amidst demi glace gets lost with the small perfectly cooked lamb bite. White chocolate for dessert? Really three stars? Another total miss. Grapefruit sorbet cleansingly tasty. Cereal milk giving Momofuku 2006. Cookies, but no mignardises other than very good chocolate covered hazelnuts. This was a festive treat and a unique experience, I regret nothing. I realize that it is harder to lose stars than to gain them, but...

4.5/5. Came for the white truffle menu and enjoyed it well. Good atmosphere and nearly perfect service. Food quality is also good and you can feel the complete concepts behind. Plating and tastes are flawless but have to say are not impressive/surprising enough (maybe because the amount of white truffle is just too much?). Wine cellar is impressive, yet (to my own preference) the selected wine pairs for the truffle menu is not attractive enough. Overall it’s a very worthy experience.

Cortiletto d'Alba, a highly acclaimed non-Michelin starred eatery in Alba, offers refined tasting menus featuring regional meat dishes. The restaurant's charming ambiance is enhanced by its vaulted brick rooms and courtyard seating options. Managed by a family, the establishment is located in the basement of a bed and breakfast. Exposed brick walls and arched ceilings add to its cozy appeal.
I had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The quality of the food was outstanding—every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. From the appetizers to the dessert, you can really tell that the ingredients were fresh and carefully selected, making each bite a true delight. The menu offers a wide variety of options, catering to different tastes, and everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. One of the highlights of this restaurant is the excellent value for money. Considering the high quality of the food, the prices are very reasonable, making it a great choice for both casual dining and special occasions. You truly get what you pay for, and more! The staff were incredibly kind and attentive throughout the entire evening. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience, always checking in to make sure we were satisfied without being intrusive. Their professionalism and warm hospitality really enhanced the overall atmosphere. As for the location, it's absolutely beautiful. Great family run restaurant with really good pasta and dessert. We ordered Plin ravioli stuffed with 3 roast meat with butter and sage, Tajarin Albesi (thin noodles) with Ragout, Tajarin and risotto with white truffle. We also ordered a local bubbly that tasted more like champagne than prosecco. The service was warm and friendly, all the food was fantastic. It was a memorable evening

We had a fantastic dinner here. We got the starter mix, the ragu tajarin, and the ravioli. I was worried it wouldn’t be enough food for two people, but by the time dessert rolled around, I was very full. The starters were delicious. The pasta dishes were perfect, served in special plates that kept the pasta hot even for an extremely slow eater like me. The tajarin may look simple but was truly outstanding. Such delicate, delicious noodles! The tiramisu was the best I’ve had in years of trips to Italy. Really perfect cream. There was an extensive wine list with very reasonably priced wines. Finally, the restaurant itself is very cosy. There are only 9 or 10 tables, and the brick arch decor was very special. I would definitely come back here.
