Thermal baths
Terme Merano is a seasonal thermal park and year-round indoor spa featuring 25 bathing pools, saunas, and a fitness center. The Hotel Terme Meran offers a quiet and spacious room with friendly staff. The hotel boasts an adults-only thermal infinity pool on the rooftop overlooking the town and snow-capped mountains. During winter holidays, visitors can enjoy ice skating at the nearby rinks or explore the Christmas market in the decorated spa town.
Came here on a rainy day. This place is very large with many pools that have different temperatures. There are area where you can lay indoor and sleep/rest. They do not provide towels and are additional to entrance fee. The rate was 18€ for 2 hours or 20€ for 3 hours. Each additional hour after the 2 hour mark is 10€.

Terme di Merano is a true gem in this small city. It’s always a pleasure to return and spend some time in the lovely pools. However, this time the experience was less relaxing due to children and teenagers screaming and splashing about all day. The lifeguards do their best to keep the situation under control, but it doesn’t seem to be particularly effective. Children, in particular, are allowed access to every pool, rather than being directed to the smaller ones more suited to them. I believe the management should implement stricter rules to ensure children only use the pools designated for them. This would significantly improve the experience for other guests, who would no longer have to endure constant shouting or being splashed. Additionally, the outdoor pool at 37°C wasn’t accessible, as children were continuously diving into it and entering from all directions. This spoils the experience for adults who simply want to relax. I sincerely hope the management considers making some changes.

The experience was generally nice however I felt like the thermal pool had to be a bit hotter. Bistro’s menu can be improved there wasnt that much option. And even though we went on a random Tuesday it was crowded, luckily on holidays&crowded sessions you must reserve beforehand. The hygiene was sufficient.
Merve A — Google review
Nice pools though overcrowded in summer and not cheap. Many rules to follow which could be somewhat more politely expressed: cloakroom full, go outside, just to find out outside you need 1€ change which we did not have, came to cloakroom inside which were NOT FULL! Besides, yelled at for not bringing bought food outside of the bar etc etc... So many tourists so you're just one of them...

Unlike many other reviewers we had a fabulous time here. It was September and pretty quiet, with few children. We preferred the outdoor pools, swimming in the fresh air. Temperatures varied but many pools were 34C. We stayed for 2 hours (it wasn’t warm enough to sit outside in wet costumes) All staff we came across were pleasant. Facilities were spotless. We brought towels, flip flops and shower soaps with us. We didn’t stay for lunch - preferring to go back into town and eat by the river. Lovely experience.
Annie G — Google review
I have to say unfortunately an horrible experience. We had a reservation for a 20 min massage and the spa for the whole day. €118 euros. For this amount of money we expected a relaxing experience. It was quite the opposite. Staff were rude except for the lady at the massage. Massage was a very light but relaxing massage for 15 min. Then we stepped back into the overcrowded hell with the pools and all the people and children. If you have been to a real spa, please avoid this commercial drained organization. Bistro was also a bad experience. Staff were uninterested helping you and a lot was already sold out (we were there at 3PM)

€26 for all day access to 23 different pools. Surrounded by mountains ans beautiful landscaping this is a great way to escape and relax. Bring swim wear or they won't let you in! Food and gift shop available.
Jordan D — Google review
Went on a Thursday and it was overcrowded and felt more like a water park than a relaxing spa. All the pools were lukewarm and the same temperature and it was full of kids with floatees swimming so you have no space to move. Highest temperature is 34 degrees. Are the thermal pools here with us? I would leave zero stars if I could. I don’t know how this place has such high ratings. This is a scam. I wouldn’t even go for free.

I really didn’t think I could believe the 5 star reviews here, but thought to give it a go anyway. And now I can only say, I would rate this place 6 stars if I could. We had the Rinderfilet and it was absolutely fantastic. We also had the beef burger and Mais. The burger was delicious and an excellent portion size. The ingredients are really high quality, and the beef is cooked perfectly. You can tell the chef really cares about making the food well and he often checks on those who ordered a meat cut to make sure it has been cooked to their liking. A lovely place that I would recommend to everyone coming to Meran.

Tappeinerweg is a 4.5-mile scenic footpath in Merano, offering stunning views of the valley and Mediterranean plants. It's a perfect spot for relaxation during a summer holiday, with nearby spa facilities and bathing lakes. The trail provides an opportunity to experience the beauty of nature while overlooking the rooftops of Merano. Additionally, visitors can explore other leisurely hiking routes like Waalweg irrigation channel routes around Marling and Sissiweg in Meran.
The scenery on the valley is surrounded by a small vineyard. The footpath is beautifully designed. You can take your dog for a walk. And there are also cafes when you want to take a break.

Amazing entry point into the city! Continue from until the very end then descend down to the center of Merano. The other end of riverside promenade allows the alternative access. The views are stunning, the whole path is so beautiful and there points of water as well as some historic facts here and there.

That simple round walk is a must when visiting Meran. Great views above the city's roof tops. Nice bars and a restaurant are offering everything for each budget

This is a beautiful path with very pretty panoramic views of the city and mountains.

Fantastic views of the city and surrounding landscape. Vineyards, steeples and mountains can be taken in from the viewing benches. There are also a few restaurants/spots to have a drink along the promenade. The climb up the old fort tower is worth it for the views from the top. It is quite a steep walk up to the promenade - we managed it with a pram but took some pushing!

Fine dining restaurant
Sissi is a renowned restaurant located in Merano, offering refined, multi-course menus and fine wines in an art nouveau dining room and wood-paneled parlor. Despite its sterile surroundings near Via dei Portici, the restaurant surprises diners with rustic regional dishes prepared with precision.
There are very few dinning experiences I have had in my life that can compare with the experience we had at Sissi. We have been to a few Michelin Star restaurants on our travels throughout the years in Europe and while there have been some highlights, I have never had the experience where every single dish was exceptional and memorable but here at Sissi it absolutely was. Andrea and his staff will make you feel like you were invited over to his house for dinner. Throughout the night he would go from table to table speaking to his guests in English, Italian and German which is hard enough to do in one language. His staff were attentive and kind as they explained each dish we ordered as they came out. The staff clearly has a pride for what they were doing. None of this felt forced. Every single thing we had here was memorable and delicious and made with the utmost care and love. The environment of the restaurant was wonderful as it was able to find that nice space between modern and old world with its decor and ambiance. Depending on what time of the year you visit, you might have a nice view of the Castello Principesco (Castle) across the street and the surrounding alps. The restaurant itself sits in the shadow of the mountains where the entrance to a nice walking path “Tappeinerweg” is right next to it. We dined a la carte and I had the following: Antipasti: Tataki di cinghiale, thin wild boar slices in mushroom sauce. While all the dishes were incredible this was the most memorable and if still on the menu I would recommend getting this. Starting off the meal with this dish was a perfect way to set up the upcoming courses. My wife had their take on Vitello Tonnato which is one of her favorite dishes from the the northwest of Italy (Piedmont) that she loved. Primi: I had Gnocchi di patate filled with wild garlic, while my wife had the Ravioli stuffed with roasted meat. Both done perfectly. Gnocchi if made badly can be too heavy or mushy and these were light and fluffy and filled with flavor. Secondi: Galletto di Bresse which was juicy and tender and done perfectly while my wife had the Cervo (deer) done perfectly. I had the Gelato in Olive oil and citrus for a dolce which was a refreshing way to end the meal. We were also treated to some creative amuse bouche courses that were delicious at the beginning and ending of our meals You will not be disappointed dining here, it is well worth it. Andrea and his wife also own the hotel we stayed at, Steinach Townhouse Meran which was amazing as well which I highly recommend if you are planning a stay in the city. I am not an active "reviewer" but I will always make time to write something for a place like this. Locally or family owned places that provide memorable experiences and clearly care about their business and customer base. If you visit Merano this places is a must to eat at and you will not regret it.

A remarkable and memorable dining experience! A visit to Merano must include dinner at SISSI; the food was unique in presentation, and exceptional in taste. The ambience was relaxed and comfortable while the service was impeccable and cordial. I will not forget your exquisite lemon dessert! What an unexpected delight and trip to heaven! What we appreciated the most was the friendly regard and solicitousness of the chef/owner Andrea Fenoglio. His great sense of humour was the cherry on the cake! Thank you chef for making our dining experience an unforgettable one. We will be back!
Tonia S — Google review
Booked a table a few months out for our stay in Merano. Initially we were disappointed in looking at the menu and not seeing a wine pairing, but we went with the 7-course "new" menu rather than the favorites menu and asked - they DO have a wine pairing specific for each dish available, and it's fantastic. They also asked if we had allergies or anything we didn't particularly like - one of us does not like the flavor of truffle and they gave us a different pasta dish, a level they didn't have to reach! The food was very good and contained local dishes with ideas we never really imagined. The margherita pizza shot was very unique, and a great way to start. The pasta dishes were great, but the eggplant filet was amazing and something we didn't know could be made with only vegetables. The celery ice cream dessert was the most unique. Great service and hospitality throughout, it felt like they welcomed us to their own dining room at their house.

One of the absolute highlights of our trip in the region. Lunch at Sissi was an exceptional experience — the food was simply outstanding, refined without being pretentious, and full of personality. What really stood out was the warm, family-like atmosphere. You feel genuinely welcomed, not just served. Chef Andrea Fenoglio and the whole team have created something truly special. This is the kind of place you plan a trip around. A real gem.

We live in Dubai , but we are Italian 🇮🇹, and were on holiday in the enchanting region of Trentino-Alto Adige, where we had the pleasure of dining at Sissi, the Michelin-starred restaurant of Chef Andrea Fenoglio in Merano. Everything was truly exceptional: the flavors were refined and memorable, the courtesy of the staff impeccable, and above all the Chef’s mastery and savoir-faire shone through in every detail of the experience. An unforgettable evening in a magical setting — highly recommended. 5 stars. 🌟

Our favorite experience every time we are in the region. The food is amazing, the service makes you feel right at home and the atmosphere is phenomenal.
Lena B — Google review
had a wonderful time at sissi for its 7-course seasonal tasting menu. the chef-owner is incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home, he would talk to us in between each course to ask how the dish and he did that for every table. the vibe is pretty casual and you feel like you’re dining at someone’s home. the food was full of flavor and was quite inventive such as a coffee marinated salmon trout which was one of my favorite, along with their deer. i don’t think they offer a formal wine pairing, but we basically got a wine pairing without the high price tag as we asked the server to recommend wines for every 2-3 courses and her recs were great and went very well with the dishes. overall very pleased and full from the meal and would highly recommend sissi!

Stopped here for lunch during a stunning Harley ride through the region. Perfect, easy parking for my Ultra, outside. The authentic Italian food was incredible—the food was fresh and delicious. Combined with the excellent service and a cold local drink , it made for a perfect riding break. Highly recommend to any bikers visiting Merano!

Forsterbräu Merano is a restaurant where the food comes faster than you realize you're hungry, and everything is so delicious that you want to write down the recipe in your personal "happiness" diary. The waiters behave like your old and slightly tired friends: they wink, give you a hint, and sometimes just shrug their shoulders with understanding, as if they know all your gastronomic weaknesses. The atmosphere is relaxed, cozy, with a slight touch of "we've been here a long time and we're glad to see you." The perfect place to eat deliciously without straining yourself or pretending to be a serious gourmet.
Vadim S — Google review
The food is always great, especially if you want some typical south Tyrolean dishes. It tends to be busy so sometimes the waiters are a little rushed but always friendly and attentive. We usually make a reservation, but I don't think it's a must as there is LOTS of seating.

Nestled in the heart of Merano on Corso Libertà, right across from the Kurhaus, Forsterbräu Meran is a local landmark and a favorite among tourists. Overall, the place is well-loved, especially for its lively ambiance and wide beer selection. The portions are generous, and it’s a great spot since they stay open late into the night. Price is good

My European dining experience in Meran tirol. This restaurant is located in the tourist center of Merantirol. It is easily accessible. There are many shopping areas. I had dinner here with my family. I recommend making a reservation to ensure that you will have a seat, as it is difficult to find a table in the evening. I was well served by the staff. They were fast and friendly. My wait for food did not take long. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in a typical European style. When the food is served, you will be amazed by the beauty and stylish presentation of the dishes. As for the taste, I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. The taste is very good. It is so delicious that you may lick the plate. My family was very impressed and we will come back to eat here if we have a chance to visit Meranti again. My words may not be true. Until you come and eat here and decide for yourself. Thank you and have a nice meal here.👍🍽🙏

Bar Bistro Seven is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Merano, offering a blend of Italian and Tyrolean cuisine. Guests can dine in the chic interior adorned with black-and-white photos or opt for an al fresco experience under the portico on the bustling shopping street. The historic dining room boasts beautifully renovated vaults, creating a unique atmosphere for enjoying classic Tyrolean dishes and traditional Italian fare prepared fresh daily.
The spinach gnocchi with truffles were the most excellent food I ever had. Every bite was a taste bubble popping on the tongue. It was awesome. For desert, we had the chocolate cake with ice cream. The cake was warm and with chocolate cream filling, and the ice cream was a super tasty self-made hazelnut ice cream. It was a brilliant meal, which obviously kosts its price. And since they make everything fresh, you need a bit of patience waiting for your food.

Great food, very refined, lovely presentation, a relaxed environment and excellent staff. We ordered a first course and second course each - luckily the waitress advised to have a smaller version of the first courses, and even so we struggled to finish our mains, and we shared a dessert just because they looked so nice. Lovely homemade pasta, excellent beef, and the ice cream with our dessert was one of best fruit ice-cream I've ever had. If in Merano, I'd highly recommend it 👌
