Expected more. It is basically a domed cinema. No much if exhibit. I certainley recommend booking in advance as I did not do that and did not get to entet to the show due to fullness of the planitarium.I would say that it probably deserve more than this rating should I had the chance to see the show.

We went to a very nice exposition called “from big bang to humanity”. It was really nice explained and very understanding even if it wasn’t in my mother language. Very recommended place!!! We will come gladly to another exhibition

We went to the Planetarium Bochum with our kid for the first time and all of us had a blast. We had been there before, even as kids ourselves. It’s always nice to get a perspective on science and possible futures. The staff there is always so friendly and the prices are fair for what is shown. Definitely read the descriptions of the program or watch the trailers and decide what best fits your interest. Also if you don’t want to wait, buy tickets online. Full recommendation.

Very nice. Here there are lot of during the day. Ticket prices and information about the shows are available on their website. The show which I watched is really interesting. Also several children are at the show and they are really interesting to watch the show. The projector and the screen is very big and good clarity picture. It projects all over the top sealing of the planetarium. Tickets can also buy at the counter for these shows. Other than that there are some interesting articles in the corrider such as several pictures, an astronaut suit model where people can take the pictures, an old projector, and other interesting things are there. A small cafe and WC are also available here.

The trains are good but almost non of them are open

Great for a day out, but pick good weather as you need to walk outside a bit. Unfortunately, they had some staffing issues, so we couldn’t ride the train, but otherwise it’s nice to see all the historic machines.

What can i say except TRAINs. If you like them that is the place to go. On special days there is a tour with a train. Bring your own food and drinks😉.

Historical museum. You need about 30 minutes max to go through all but its very interesting. Description is also in english. The ticket costs 9,50 euros.

Very interesting railway museum located in a preserved maintenance facility. The exhibits include a wide range of German railway equipment, many of them consisting of a representative selection of steam engines. The feeling of being on an active old marshalling yard is preserved by the train rides on the adjoining line and the many preserved buildings and facilities. A must for railfans.

If you are in or have been in the mining industry or want to learn more about the mining industry and what keeps our lights on and our lives as rich as they are, this is a must visit. The underground tour is informative and immersive in it detail of the transformation of the world of underground mining from its humble hand dug beginning to it’s automated and mechanical current reality. The museum above ground with its interactive models and displays is incredibly well done.

Great to have more understanding of mining history, machineries and equipment in Germany. Also, understand the largest mining district, Ruhr Area and population development from 300,000 in 1820 to 5.7 million in 1961. Very informative and worth to spend several hours.

Great museum, visiting an actual mine site is cool enough, but then you can also go to the top of the tower and get a great view of Bochum, and the exhibits were pretty cool too, I loved the one where you can see fossils and all these different minerals with a huge array of colours.

An excellent museum with an amazing recreation of a mine that takes you through the ages of mining. Once you've finished the mine tour there is a huge museum and it can take you 4 to 5 hours to get through it all. There are documentaries to watch, interactive exhibits, an amazing cafe, and clean toilets throughout the museum. The Mining Museum is setup for German and English speaking visitors.

A very unique and interesting experience. The visitor's mine tour was fun and informative. Would definitely recommend visiting this museum. The tour was only available in german but we were offered booklets with english explanations about all the equipments. The audio tour wasn't available when we went. The exhibition on hard coal and miners livelihood was very well done. Learnt a lot about miners and how they contributed to this region of germany.

Great place to visit. The guides were amazing and spoke in German and English. Gave a real sense of what mining was like when the mine was in operation. Second time I visited. I highly recommend it.

Interesting museum about the coal mining and the society around in Germany. Don‘t miss a guided tour through the show mine, it gives you a feeling of being a miner in an authentic surrounding.

Very pretty garden maintained by the RUB. I enjoyed the walk all through. The entire garden is downhill. So it takes more strain to reach back than expected.

It was a nice place to visit. However seeing part of the Chinese house was temporary closed due to vulgar activities of previous visitors was so sad. I wish it can be renovated soon.

Super cute botanical garden with every single plant being labeled. The Chinese garden as well as the greenhouses with all the cactuses were the highlight. Really well taken care of, big space. Loved it!!

Excitingly beautiful garden with various exotic plants around the world and exhibits (sometimes have to pay or donate for a few euros) Entrance to the garden and green houses are free.

It's a great place to take your friend and family. They have several exhibits covering Savannah, Australia, south east Asia etc. The green houses are climate controlled and every one of them are different. They are meticulously maintenaned by the botanists in the university. There is a nice cafeteria if you need a break; a lot to see. All the trees and plants are labeled for your convenience. I did not see a guided tour as such.

We enjoyed being there, we found pepper and cactus gardens the most impressive. There are many plants to see. Chinese garden is well decorated and we saw fish in this garden. Parking place and entrance are free, it is worth seeing there.

Lovely little oasis of calm. Great for a nice walk with lots to see. The Chinese garden is beautiful. The three themed (rain forest, desert, savanna) hot houses are well laid out and planted. Good access although could be difficult in parts for wheel chair users as some of the ramps are overgrown.

Entry for the permanent exhibition was free and the temporary exhibition was affordable as well. Lots of abstract art which isn't exactly my style but can't knock it down when it's free. 60-90mins is a good amount of time to budget.

Beautiful museum with lots to see which is a short walk from the centre of Bochum. The permanent collection is beautifully presented. Concentrates on artists who lived and worked in Germany. Rather a dour collection. Interesting contemporary artists on show.

A small but very interesting museum close to the city center. Perfect for a Sunday activity when all shops are closed or on a rainy day! They also have a cafe on the ground floor, a lot to choose from.

Small museum with cafeteria. When we were there, there was only an exhibition, not the regular collection. Be ware that it was not possible to pay with foreign debit card.

Quirky, non conventional

The starters are delicious. Service was good. The ribeye steak looks more like entercote was tender and melts in your mouth. The only major issue that ruined the whole experience is how salty was the sauce, you can get rid of the sauce because the steak was soaked in it. The desert was ok nothing special. The washroom was kitcheny!!

Good food in a nice ambience! The staff here speak English as well and were very courteous and friendly. The interior is tasteful but has a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a nice night out with family or friends. I ordered the tenderloin steak with a side of grilled vegetables and loved it. Husband ordered the wild salmon but found the sides to be too creamy for his liking. The chocolate mousse with almond brittle and passion fruit was a nice combination.

The mood of the resataurant is modern and very nice. Reasonable price with really nice steak. My favorite place to enjoy the dry aging steak! Other dishes are also good too.

I was with a group so was disappointed with a set menu offering vegan curry or veil schnitzel; both were so so. Some of the steaks being delivered to other tables looked nice. However the starters were nice particularly the prawn wrapped in stringy potato and garlic mayo, yummy..

Went for a spontaneous Friday night dinner and really enjoyed this place. The interior is a bit generic, but service was great and both wine and food were excellent!

The restaurant Franz Ferdinand, in Bochum, must be listed in the top ten best restaurants in Bochum. The restaurant is a savory dish after another. For the appetizer, I highly recommend the fig and goat cheese salad, it’s beautifully presented and the taste is purely satisfying. My husband ordered the garlic shrimp salad and he seemed to enjoy it. They serve you their homemade bread and red beet spread. My husband ordered their Kaiserschnitzle served with slices of roasted and fried potatoes and a well dressed salad. I ordered the lamb Wienerschnitzel served with a creamy vinegar potato salad and a green salad. The appetizers and the main course were delicious, so we thought just order one dessert for both of us to share. The dessert also didn’t disappoint us, it was tasty but my husband and I were very full so we forcefully finished the dessert. One thing, I must say is that people are allowed to smoke outside and that’s very frustrating to be around when you want to enjoy a nice meal. It would be nice if they prohibited smoking outside as well.

Overhyped by a lot. Mostly, there are no decent restaurants in Bochum, so this is a hip place. In any larger city, they would die. Poor service, arrogant, really think they are something when they are mostly an average restaurant. The food is decent but not more. Attitude is mostly the problem. If you go to actual top places you will be disappointed. If you are a country pumpkin or dont usually dine in top-notch places, you will love it.

Today I had a superb vegan 3-course dinner here. Respect to the kitchen staff! €35,- including two drinks is very reasonable. The courses were well balanced, good size portions and really well prepared. Not just any kitchen can improvise a well balanced vegan dinner. Friendly and quick serving. I'm very happy I went here and I certainly will eat here again.

Food was okay, but wouldn't go back. It was also insanely warm inside (in August). Feels like they have no ventilation or cooling at all

I have been to Tucholsky a couple times and i always had a great experience with the food. This time, however, I must say I was disappointed. The lemon risotto was extremely acidy and boring. It was not enjoyable and I would not recommend it.

It's a nice place to eat and they have a lot of stuff with big portions. Though the food was way too heavy and I had a stomachache afterwards (I ordered Italian scrumbled eggs). One thing I definitely didn't like: the waiter brought us water without asking first and without telling that it would cost 7 euros... The coffee was charged more than it was on the menu. So... I think I'm not coming again despite a lot of good options.

Great breakfast. Loads of smiles from friendly faces working to make you feel welcome. I had a breakfast with no specific expectations, though they were exceeded. I recommend having a meal, any meal. If my breakfast was tasty, then it might just be that loads more on their menu is just as tasty.

Absolutely magnificent place. Plenty of different foods served, although the truth is I come here for the excellent craft beers and it’s probably the best place in town to enjoy them. Very friendly and professional staff, so that’s covered too, but did I mention the delicious craft beer? Especially nice because the interior is lovely as well and outside seating (even though a bit noisier) is equally as pleasant.

Location: centrally located, yet off the main street. Tucked away in the peace of a little alley. Service: Attentive, pleasant and knowledgable! I am still confused about the many varieties of beer. The young lady was able to give me a primer on the key features of each type so that I was able to reach a decision. Very professional and impressive! Vibe: the interior has a warm and cozy atmosphere. Tables of thick slabs of wood, large and medium groups of people chatting away. The house is full of history. The outdoor seats look over a T-crossing with some mild traffic that adds some animation to the scene rather than being disrupting (unless someone honks, but that didn’t happen often). Food: My salad was fresh and the portion was satisfying. Everything is served in proper tableware. Great for colleague groups, friend groups and couples. May not be the best space for young kids if I have to be honest.

We we hiking in the area and had dinner here. We had rietkoetter Pfanne und Käse Spätzle. It was was an amazing dinner. They served a small salad and bread with the food. The salad was great too. The service was outstanding. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had a nice time. We highly recommend eating here. They do have a great vegetarian pretty big menu too. The cheese of my Spätzle was fresh. Really really great. The portions are huge.

I tried Cauliflower Steak with hashbrown! Very delicious! Desserts have Pina Cota, Tiramusu and Creme Brule! All are good! Gulp it down with local Mortiz Fiege Hellis beer!

Food was ok-ish. Nothing spectacular, nothing special... And not worth the price. Pretty expensive. Also, the still water tasted weird.... Like if it had gas before... Pretty annoying The service was nice though :)

The chicken dumplings were so Good.it had 5 pieces. The rice roll was Nothing special. It had lot of mint leaves and little Chicken inside. The sauces were good for both dumplings and Chicken rolls.

Good food! Is in street where you have too many restaurants in downtown. Spring rolls were wrapped in thin rice sheet. It was okay. Without any spices. Souce along with spring roll was good though a bit more sweet than I like. Hot Vietamese tea was available. My colleagues took it and they seems to enjoy it! Too many options for drinks! They had Lassi on menu considering that's not Vietamese! I had Yellow curry with Tofu! Great taste. Service is decent! No Amex accepted.

Really good food! Very consistent quality of good food! I have been here 4-5 times and eaten different dishes and I’m pleasantly surprised everytime!

The food was really good and the restaurant looks fancy, but most importantly the staff was very professionnal and especially one of the waitress was very friendly and gave us good recommandations based on her experiences, that was great !

I had the noodle soup and it was quite salty. Crispy spring rolls were oily. Otherwise the service was great.

The best Vietnamese restaurant out of all Vietnamese restaurants I have ever been to. I know people specially come to eat here from different parts of NRW and Germany. -Great Vietnamese coffee -Good list of items on the menu. I always have hard time choosing a dish, because everything is so delicious and I want to try all of it -PhoBo (image attached) and Fried Bananas in Cocoa milk is a must try! -employees speak excellent English -Most importantly you can pay cashless here, which is quite rare in Germany, and in Bochum in particular!!

delicious vietnamese (my fav choice is Bun with vietnamese spring roll). Other dishes are delicious as well. Attentive and friendly service. May need to book the table for dinner as it's always full.
