Casa Romana is an ancient Roman villa that has been restored and now houses two floors of art, including mosaics, frescoes, and sculptures. The museum was originally founded in 1936 by the Italians and has recently undergone significant improvements funded largely by the EU. These enhancements include improved signage, restoration of fallen columns, and new exhibitions at Casa Romana and the small Epigraphical Museum beside the Asclepieion.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to see the inside, the credit card machine was down and they couldn’t break our 50euros Make sure to have the exact change just in case! Winter time tickets are 3euros per person and I believe during summer it is 6 euros per person.

If you’re wondering what to see in Kos – this is definitely a place worth visiting. It offers interesting facts and information that you can explore on site. A great spot for both tourists and curious visitors. Highly recommended!
Maria S — Google review
Well worth the 10 euro (each for adults) entrance fee. So much history at this place & it is quite large. Beautiful statues and mosaics amongst other artifacts. Lots of written information about each section in Greek and English. Incredibly good job that has been done of restoring this fabulous building.
Toni B — Google review
Visited here last year. Perfectly renovated Roman Villa with interesting archeological remnants. A must place to visit if you are in Kos.
Mete D — Google review
Rather disappointed ..Not worth 10 euros.unkept and Desolate. Needs maintance and care. could have been restored much more attentively and efficiently. Such a shame! : (
Jessica E — Google review
You really get to appreciate the scale of a Roman Villa house. The reconstruction brings scale and helps the imagination understand how Romans inhabited their house. Plenty of interesting information panels and it's fascinating to see restored mosaics and wall decorations that bring immediacy to the written details. If you like Roman houses and want to get a feel of their lifestyle, this museum does an awesome job of doing that.
Phillip M — Google review
Had some time spare before my coach picked me up, so I came to view Casa Romana. It cost €6 to enter, which was reasonable. It was really interesting, I thoroughly enjoyed walking around

Really nice place to see how life was in ancient Greek times. Even with artifacts and coins.

Ancient Ruins
The Roman Odeon of Kos, an open-air theater constructed in the 2nd century, features restored marble seating and galleries. Surrounding attractions include the Hippocrates tree, believed to have stood since ancient times when the renowned doctor taught his students under its shade. Other notable sites on the island include Ottoman mosques, buildings from the Italian occupation period, and historic landmarks like castles and churches.
An impressive site of historical importance. You can climb the steps and have a good view over the entire site. There are tunnels to explore underneath too. Good information written in Greek and English. And best of all it was free!
Toni B — Google review
You can feel the history of the Odeon as you walk up to it. It is only small but it is quite impressive. It only takes about half an hour or so to look around and take a few photos, but it's worth it. You don't need tickets to enter, and it is free of charge.
Derek B — Google review
I usually give ancient sites 5 stars, and while it is interesting, it's been over restored and looks like a modern seating area you'd find in a park. Apart from a few areas they left alone, and they're behind iron gates and inside you see modern office chairs which ruins the small amount of the truly ancient part of the site. It's easy to walk to if you're in Kos, and it's free which is really all that's good about it.
Brian M — Google review
Yesterday, I visited the Roman Odeon in Kos, an ancient auditorium dating back to the 2nd century AD that once served as the hub of public life with musical competitions, senate meetings, and civic celebrations. Some original marble seating remains, and the site has been thoughtfully restored since its discovery in 1929. Today, the Odeon is still part of Kos’s vibrant heritage—often hosting cultural events and exhibitions—and you can even explore the fascinating underground walkways where several remarkable statues were found during excavations. Plenty of information boards inside too.
James O — Google review
The Odeum of Kos is definitely worth a visit, especially since it’s free. The site itself is impressive, but what makes it even more interesting are the tunnels underneath. They give you a great insight into how the structure looked and functioned before it started to crumble over time. A short stop, but a fascinating glimpse into the island’s past.
Glen B — Google review
A well preserved theatre however being an Odeon it's much smaller than oter ancient theatres. Don't let that stop you exploring this place, the information panels in the restored vaulted passageways do an excellent job of telling the complete story of this structure - I especially liked the reconstruction drawing showing it in its glory.
Phillip M — Google review
This is about a 5 minute walk from the bus station in Kos Town. Quite quiet when I visited which was good. You can view under the steps too. They probably could have done a much better restoration job as the majority of steps / tiers look like concrete.
Ed J — Google review
Beautiful place, cool you can go inside as well, right near the city centre but feels very different.

The Hippocrates Plane Tree is a serene location featuring a large plane tree, where legend has it that the renowned physician Hippocrates taught his students. This ancient site is surrounded by various attractions such as the Gymnasium from the Hellenistic period, Casa Romana, Roman Odeon, Ottoman mosques, and structures from the Italian occupation.
You can enter right from street by the government building by the ocean, with a busstop nearby. It is also close to the old castle and the harbour. There is not much to see but with anything else, it is still always good to witness some history in some form.
Caroline N — Google review
The Hippocrates Tree is a lovely spot to visit in Kos Town. It offers a nice bit of nature and a chance to learn some of the history behind Hippocrates and his connection to the island. Overall, it also gives you a nice overview of the bay area, making it a pleasant stop while exploring the town.
Glen B — Google review
To visit the possible birthplace of modern medical understanding , to take shade under the descendent sibling of that once great tree who play host to the great minds of antiquity can not be fully described! It must be felt..
Adrik C — Google review
It’s a tree. Nothing to tree here I’m afraid. Pointless. Even the ruins around here aren’t that great, not very well maintained. It killed 5 minutes before I found something better.
Chris ( — Google review
To be honest it's a tree. A very old tree. Held up with scaffolding. However it is a quiet shady spot and how could you visit Kos and not go and see it given the world wide medical culture that arose on this spot (allegedly).
Kim H — Google review
Perfect spot, surrounded by some old Greek buildings and the oldest tree lit with light. Fantastic entertainment which totally set the mood. Service was excellent and my sea bass was delicious. Restaurant is more pricey than others in the town but if you are wanting some evening ambiance with a touch of class away from the tourist area this is the place.
Sophie C — Google review
It's not the best best sightseeing experience we've had. The tree is not actually the tree that Hippocrates taught his students as it is only around 500 years old. Although it is thought to be a descendant of the original tree.
Derek B — Google review
Well...the scaffolding ruins the surroundings and tree itself. It's a shame. A must visit of course, but once in a lifetime thing.

History Museums
The Archaeological Museum of Kos, established in 1936 during the Italian occupation, showcases a wealth of ancient island artifacts including sculptures and mosaics. Following extensive renovations funded by the EU, the museum reopened in September 2016. The distinctive building houses a collection that offers insight into the rich history and artistic legacy of ancient Kos.
Really enjoyed the museum, holds a massive amount of items from discoveries found across the island with plenty of detailed descriptions about their history. The only slight negative (and I may have missed them), I could have done with a guide book and I'm pretty certain there was no shop, I really wanted a book on the archeology of Kos. Regardless of that though it was a bright and informative way of keeping entertained whilst there was a massive early April thunderstorm going on outside, added to the atmosphere!
Allan C — Google review
I enjoyed the exhibition at this museum. However, for a ticket price of €10, it feels a bit steep, especially since the visit only takes about half an hour—or up to an hour if you take your time reading and sitting down. Overall, I would recommend it if you’re genuinely interested in the subject. But if you’re unsure, I wouldn’t advise going.
Glen B — Google review
It's only open on certain days, luckily we got there on a weekday where it was open. The site is beautifully restored with some good explanations. If you're in kos island and have some time swing by this ancient marble. You should give a chance

A very beautiful place where you can see the history and ancient ruins of Kos Island. I recommend it — if you are a student, it’s free.
Talu B — Google review
Visited midweek. Small museum covering some of Kos amazing history. Unfortunately it didn't appear to be in chronological order and cost €10. I would strongly suggest that Kos place information signs on the numerous historical sites around the town to explain the significance of what just appears to be a load of rubble.

Agree with other comments on the price. It’s a good stop if you are interested in the architecture and statues. We found it very informative but overall took us 30 mins to do the whole museum for €10 per adult.

Great little museum with 2 floors and a cheap entry price of 10 euros. Very informative signs help you understand what you're viewing. The statues of Nike and Dionysus are particular highlights

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Kos Town, Broadway Restaurant is a culinary gem that beautifully marries contemporary Greek cuisine with local traditions. With nearly three decades of experience under its belt, this beloved dining spot has become a favorite among both locals and visitors.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was recommended by the staff! Our waiter was a German man (I forgot to catch his name), but he was super passionate about the food, which made us more excited to eat! All the staff were really sweet, and made an effort to interact with me and my friend. Everything was presented beautifully, and it tasted amazing. Additionally, we got two starters, two mains and two drinks, and it came to €70. Was very affordable considering how high quality the food was. The sea bream was the star of the show. Would genuinely come back to Kos just to eat at this restaurant again.
Nuriza T — Google review
Broadway Restaurant was an unforgettable experience! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The dishes were full of special flavors, beautifully prepared, and clearly created with inspiration. Each bite was a delight, and the atmosphere made the evening even more memorable. Truly an outstanding place — I can’t wait to return! Keep up the good job! ⭐

Called in here on the off chance we could get a table and were accommodated very quickly. A party of 3 - we had the slow cooked pork - sea bass and filet mignon and dessert - wine recommendations were brilliant - it was all gorgeous with amazing flavours. The atmosphere was so friendly a family run business with Mama Calliope on meet and greet ❤️ . We will be back and work our way through the menu! 😊

We randomly found this place and were amazed by their food and came back again the day after. Some of the best meals I’ve had in my life! Simple local ingredients used in such a creative way, every dish was mind blowing!

We tried several different restaurants while staying in Kos, and so far, this one is my favorite. Amazing flavors, amazing presentation, and amazing service. Tried the organic gluten free beer from microbrewery, χόρτα, sea bass carpaccio, greek salad bao buns, dolmades, sea bass fricase, lamb with smoked aubergine - all perfection and the χόρτα were the best I’ve tried and better than my greek mom’s (sorry mom) and they treated us to watermelon and masticha liquor at the end of dinner. All I can say is wow and a must to try if you are in Kos.

5+++ stars! Had a lovely experience at Broadway celebrating my birthday. Staff is super super friendly and the food is exquisite. A luxury experience for a more than reasonable price. Best quality food and service we've had in Kos.

Stylish spot with a modern twist on Greek classics. The food was fresh, creative, and full of flavour. Friendly service and a great atmosphere, easily one of the best meals we had in Kos Town. Highly recommended!

I had a fantastic dining experience at Broadway. The food is absolutely divine. I would strongly recommend trying the fried pepper, saganaki, garlic mushrooms and most of their appetisers. Each dish was full of flavour and made with clearly fresh, high-quality ingredients. The seasoning was perfect. The service was also excellent. The staff were warm, attentive and welcoming throughout. A true gem. I will definitely be returning.

Located in the charming village of Zia, Oromedon Restaurant is the culmination of Nikos Papakonstantinou's return from America to invest in his passion for authentic Dodecanese flavors. For over two decades, Nikos and Dionysia have dedicated themselves to offering a unique gastronomic experience that showcases forgotten traditional dishes of Kos, all baked in a wood oven.
We had a wonderful evening here — the food was delicious, the sunset view was absolutely breathtaking, and the service was truly exceptional from start to finish. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The highlight of the meal was definitely the shrimp — cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and highly recommended. Every element of the experience felt thoughtfully executed, making it a place we’d happily return to. A perfect spot for a relaxing dinner with a view.

Unbelievable view - the staff is super friendly and relaxed. They gave great wine recommendations! The food - had the lamb was so soft and melted like butter in your mouth. Needs a rooftop reservation though if you want to see the sunset 🌅

Great atmosphere! Very glad to have taken the cab ride to Zia village, it was worth it! The food and the service were amazing, we definitely ate a lot 😅 everything we had was amazing!! The service was also very good with friendly waiters! For the next time I would suggest booking it for an earlier time so you can see the amazing sunset! Make a reservation for the Terrace and not the other options!
Selin A — Google review
Great restaurant, great location, great staff, and delicious food. We made a reservation a few days in advance for 5:30 PM. When making the reservation, you can specify where you want to sit. When we inquired, it was clear that we could take our time to watch the sunset. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in making our choices (we wanted two appetizers and a main course. However, the main course was so large that the waiter suggested we only order one appetizer. He wasn't lying about the main course...). We sat upstairs on the terrace next to the balustrade, which gave us a perfect view before and after sunset. The food was delivered incredibly quickly. It was everything food should be: hot, flavorful, and plentiful. The only improvement would be to give guests a longer break between the appetizer and the main course. The appetizer had just finished before the main course arrived. You can prevent this by ordering only your appetizer first and then ordering your main course. We found the price exceptionally reasonable, especially considering the prime location. Highly recommended!
Robin S — Google review
While the restaurant has exceptional view, it also retains the good quality food after visiting over a number of years. Many traditional Greek dishes available and great service. Would highly recommend. Make sure you reserve in advance in peak holiday periods
NC — Google review
Amazing restaurant with excellent food and friendly service. We hardly had to wait for our meal. I recommend booking in advance – we came without a reservation and got one of the last free tables. The beautiful view makes the whole experience even better.

Great restaurant with amazing location for watching the sunset in Zia, Kos. Service is OK, the staff seems to be a bit stressed out. Food is super tasty. I recommend making a reservation well in advance, during high season the restaurant can we fully booked since long ago. Definitely the best restaurant in Zia!
Marion K — Google review
Great view, had a booking at 5pm(as that's was the only time available on the website) so restaurant was quiet. Food was amazing. Staff placed citronella candles to deter bugs away which was helpful as they're massive 😂. Only thing is the chairs are pretty uncomfortable so we didn't stay long

Elia is a charming restaurant located in the historic Old Town of Kos, housed in a beautifully renovated building from 1890. The interior is adorned with vintage decor and antique furnishings, creating an atmosphere that transports visitors to another era. Known for its delectable Greek finger foods, or mezedes, Elia offers an authentic dining experience accompanied by ouzo and friendly company.
So incredibly glad we chose this place for our first meal in Greece. The food was some of the best I’ve had in my life and the service was nothing short of perfect. Location is amongst the narrow laneways of Old Kos Town and offers great people watching and atmosphere. Just smoked mackerel, salad and grilled calamari was heavenly!
Sophie S — Google review
We are nearing the end of a trip through Turkey and Greece and this was one of the best meals we had! It’s in a small pedestrian area so nice and quiet and away from the cars. We sat in the front but there’s also a nice back dining area. Such friendly service, delicious food (try the lamb with cinnamon and aunt’s chicken!!) and drinks. We also appreciated the complimentary bread with olive paste and liqueur. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Jess M — Google review
In the center of Kos old town, with a magnificent garden Elia is definitely one of the places that stole our heart. The waiter that served us, a young bearded man, was one of the kindest ever met on the island. The food was excellent at a very affordable price. We wanted to have a second dinner there before leaving but we had to cheang our pland last moment and it's been a huge regret! Definately to try!!! It's going to be worth every your cent!
Denis S — Google review
Alongside the obvious (great food and drinks) a meal is made or misses the mark on the ambience and the staff. The staff at Elia were incredible - warm, friendly, engaging and helpful. We had an amazing lunch with all different ages and tastes catered for. We went for a selection of starters for the table and then an array of mains. On the suggestion from the staff I went for the lamb kapamas, which was exquisite. Sweet and tender lamb shank in a die for sauce of cinnamon and honey. Really good value restaurant and would highly recommend.

What an experience! You absolutely have to come and try Elia! We came from a suggestion and we had Roberto serve us through the night. I am not a fussy eater and asked him for the best experience and he chose my order, this was the best thing I could have done, I had the Greek Salad starter and the Pork Neck main. He asked my preferences and didn’t oversell anything which made me trust him! Food was insane, honestly the best we’ve had in Kos and maybe the best of all of Greece we’ve travelled! We met other servers too who were all really personable and friendly. To miss this restaurant would be to miss a piece Kos. Thank you so much Roberto for a fantastic night ❤️
Charlie W — Google review
We tried Elia after meeting Roberto at a coffee shop this morning and while chatting he mentioned he works here, we said we would come and visit for dinner and WOW!!! The atmosphere is romantic and relaxed, the service is 10/10.. every waiter we spoke to was so friendly! Roberto especially took very good care of us! He recommended us the ‘pork neck steak’ as a main dish and OMG it was one of the nicest dishes i’ve ever had anywhere in the world!! The ‘Aegean Island’ cocktail was very tasty and refreshing, the aubergine rolls were delicious, and I got the last moussaka of the night, so if you come here order this quickly! Definitely recommend a visit here when in Kos! The menu is small, but the food is some of the best! Big up Roberto, he was the best host and really made our experience unforgettable!

PETRINO, a renowned restaurant established in 1993, is a popular dining spot in Kos known for its cozy atmosphere and delectable Greek cuisine. Nestled near the historic Nymphaeum building, this upscale establishment offers an elegant garden courtyard setting with indoor seating for cooler months. The restaurant's romantic ambiance is enhanced by lush greenery, white chairs, tables, and hanging lights that create a charming atmosphere especially at night.
Went for dinner and it was great. The settings in the garden are cute with a nice water feature. The service was good and the food a little pricier but worth it. Highly recommend. We had the scallops and shrimps and the fillet steak. Lovely…

Excellent food and stunning wine choice. We went with a recommendation from the lovely waiter and it didn't disappoint! Yes it is a little pricier than some restaurants but its right in town and the portions are not small so its well worth it. We booked a table but there were plenty free and the atmosphere was lovley under the vines.

Such a cosy place with true Greek charm – from the beautiful decor to the lively, authentic atmosphere. The food was incredible, full of fresh flavours and tradition. Huge thanks to Costas for the warm, attentive service that made our night even more special.
Maysaa D — Google review
An authentic Greek restaurant located slightly away from the hustle and bustle. Extremely friendly staff, excellent service, and delicious food. The ambiance under the grapevines in the garden is also wonderful. Melon salad, shrimp in garlic, stuffed brass fillet, or roasted tomato soup. All highly recommended.
T R — Google review
This restaurant was very underwhelming. While the décor and surroundings are beautiful, the food simply does not live up to the setting. The concept feels confused, it isn’t clearly Greek, Italian, seafood-focused, or fine dining. It needs to find a clear identity and deliver on it. Service was equally disappointing. The staff seemed inattentive and disengaged, often busy doing nothing. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, the service felt indifferent. I even sent back an entire plate of food that was the wrong order, yet when the correct dish arrived, nobody checked to see if I was happy. Thirty minutes later, it was collected completely untouched, without any acknowledgment or concern from the staff. The pricing is also disproportionate to the quality. Starters are €14–17 and mains €26–40, which is far too high compared to other nearby restaurants offering far better experiences. Lastly they couldn't even remember to bring the bill i requested twice. All I wanted to do was pay & leave. Overall, it felt like a waste of both money and an evening. I won’t be returning, a highly disappointing experience.

We had a lovely dinner at Petrino. The food was delicious, the service calm and attentive and it’s a lovely setting on the terrace under the vines. If you want a restaurant that’s a bit more refined, elegant and upmarket than the other restaurants in Kos then this is the place to come. After many years of travelling this is only the second restaurant we’ve been to where we’ve made another reservation for a week’s time before leaving. It’s definitely a place to come for a special dinner or even just to treat yourself.

Platanos Restaurant, located in the historic Platanos square of Kos Town, has a rich history dating back to 1979. Housed in a renovated Venetian-style building that once served as an officers' club during the Italian occupation of WWII, this restaurant and coffee bar offers a unique dining experience.
A great place to enjoy a reasonable priced cold beer, taking in the historical surroundings. They have live acoustic music later, a great way to end the night before a good feed in the near by tavernas. It can get busy so get there early for music nights.

Excellent atmosphere and service. Magnificent tastes. BUT! NO dish is worth waiting for two hours. This is how long it took for the mains to arrive. Huge problem in the kitchen operations. Hence the four stars. If you are patient give it a try.

The atmosphere was truly wonderful — beautiful setting and overall a nice vibe. The service was a bit reserved and dry, but still polite and attentive. Unfortunately, we found small stones in our food. The staff apologized right away, which we appreciated, but we were a bit surprised that the affected dish wasn’t taken off the bill. Overall, a nice experience with room for improvement.

we booked for a dinner in August this year and I can say it was the best night of our one week stay thanks to the atmosphere and live music! There were very talented two musicians playing some nice songs (mostly acoustic pop-rock classics) and the atmosphere with all the history was just amazing. I need to tell that the food and the wine was very tasty as well, with a good service. "Grilled Beetroot" to share can be an interesting option that you won't regret.
