Tour operator
Palmers Brewery, established in 1794, is a renowned brewery located in Bridport. The brewery offers guided tours that provide an in-depth look at the brewing process and culminate with beer tastings. Visitors can explore the historic thatched brewery and gain insights into the centuries-old techniques used to craft their award-winning ales. The tours, led by experienced guides, offer an engaging experience for ale enthusiasts as they learn about each stage of the brewing process.
Colin gave us an amazing tour of the brewery. He told us all about the history of Palmer's and how they used to make ales compared to how they do now. He also gave lots of free samples at the end which was very much enjoyed. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in history or the brewing process.

What a great afternoon! The guide is one of a small team that's involved in the brewing process, he was very informative. It was nice to see how beer was made way back when, and how subtle changes have been made for today's market. The tour also included the local history, of the family owned brewery and how it interacted with Bridport. The tasting session, after the tour, gave an opportunity to taste all the beers and purchase samples from the factory shop. I would thoroughly recommend.
Christopher B — Google review
My wife and I were holidaying in the area and noticed that Palmers do tours. A rainy day so we decided to book, easily done online. The 2pm tour was booked. There were 6 in our group and our tour guide was Andy. A fascinating insight into the brewing of their beer, brewing, the ingredients, and a little history of the, brewery, and the town of Bridport was given by our guide. The tour is in a working brewery so care is taken where necessary with high viz vests given out to you. The tour has some steep steps to negotiate so make sure that you are agile enough. The tour lasted approximately 2 hours. You finish the tour in the wine store where you are given free samples of their ales and ciders. The shop is well stocked if you should wish to take home some of their excellent products or wine, spirits etc. A great way to spend a rainy day, or a sunny day for that matter.

Did the tour with my mum last week on Thurs 11th. We've been visiting Bridport for years as a family, but had never been to Palmers. Had wanted to do it since last year, and I think the rain this year helped us go ahead and book! So glad we did. So interesting and eye opening about the whole process. Our guide Dave was absolutely brill and his knowledge about Palmers and the brewing process was faultless. So lovely to learn more about the history of our beloved Bridport :)
Nicks H — Google review
Visiting Bridport with our family for the week and had to try the brewery tour. Graeme our tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. It was fascinating and a wonderful use of an afternoon. Trying all the beers at the end was of course the best bit. We will definitely be going to the Palmers pubs in the area whilst we're here.

The Palmers Brewery Tour was excellent - as it provided a unique opportunity to see a real life working brewery situated within a characterful Grade I listed building. Our friendly tour guide demonstrated an exceptionally high level of knowledge of the brewing process. We enjoyed sampling the full range of Palmers beers at the end of the tour! Highly recommended.

There were 4 of us celebrating 60th's and what a great 2 hours it was! David, our guide was very knowledgeable and to see the process from start to finish - well I have the utmost respect for beer making! I have been on other tours, and I have to say this was the most informative. The tasting session at the end was very generous and we had a wonderful cycle home.
Tina C — Google review
What a great tour. Ian Scott was great very friendly and so informative. Then to top off such a great tour you get to taste all the beer's, just a sip for me as I was driving, but that was ok as I got to buy my favourite to go in my new glass. The price is amazing too

Located on South Street, Bridport Museum has recently reopened after a significant renovation. The museum offers an in-depth look at the history of Bridport, with a particular focus on the local rope- and net-making industry that has greatly influenced the town's architecture and streets. Visitors can explore various exhibits including costumes, coins, medals, photos, fossils, art collections, and displays showcasing natural history and archaeology.
Fantastic museum, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Price was very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit if you have time.

Great local history museum. Small, but densely packed with interesting and interactive exhibits on the agricultural, industrial and geological history of Bridport and its surroundings. Volunteers were wonderful too.

Staff were very enthusiastic and demonstrated how to make rope that was very interesting. We even got to keep it! Kids enjoyed the children's activities. Small museum so doesn't take long to go round but well worth a visit.

Jason R — Google review
Super cute little museum, with an eclectic mix of local bits and bobs. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and very happy to explain things to excitable children (although there aren't many things children can touch and interact with, so very small ones may get bored). There's some fascinating displays on the local history of rope and net making and how Bridport contributed to the war effort in that respect, as well as bits on the local railways, and local hostorical figure Dr Roberts' "Poor Man's Friend" cure-all. Entry was cheap (a fiver per adult and free for children under 18, with the ticket allowing multiple entries over a year - I think- if desired). It's a small space, about the size of a house, so only takes an hour or so to have a really good look round. Ideal to hop out of the rain or heat for a little while without spending loads of money, while learning a little about the town.
Victoria P — Google review
Really cannot fault this place. Not only was the subject matter fascinating, but the volunteers made it come alive, they're a credit to the museum. Spent a good hour in here, loved the art exhibition and I made my.own rope!

Amazing small museum with some creative use of historical and factual information on the local area. Our 4 year old never wanted to leave and was fully entertained for nearly 60 minutes. Is a single room of an old Chappel. A little gem in West Bay and a must visit.

We went to the Private View of the Marshwood Arts Awards, which I had entered but not been selected for this year. The venue was very crowded and hot, so we didn't stay long. I was there to look at the competition and much of the work in my category was decidedly weird. I loved the metal head tho. Pic below.

If you're on the hunt for a culinary adventure in Bridport, Dorshi is an absolute must-visit. This charming eatery specializes in street-food-inspired dishes that are sure to excite your palate. Picture yourself savoring delicious dumplings and flavorful noodles, all while enjoying a perfectly crafted cocktail or your favorite drink from their well-stocked bar. Nestled away down a quaint alley, Dorshi offers not just food but an experience that transports you to the vibrant streets of Asia.
Ate here last night with my two best mates. I was blown away by the quality of the food. Between us we tried quite a few of the dishes. The dumplings, scallops and pork belly were incredible - unique flavours and perfectly cooked. Had a really nice draught lager to wash it down. Staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Nice decor too. Decent prices. Would love to eat here again.
Matthew A — Google review
The star dishes here are the dumplings which everyone says are fantastic. Listening to fellow diners around the room the mumours are “…and you must get the dumplings they are fabulous!” Ordered three platefuls, two lots of steamed dumplings “Organic pork, leek, and ginger” “Organic curried lamb, curry leaf and cayenne” And one lot of fried dumplings the “Free range chicken, lime and 4-pepper with Japanese style mayo” The chicken ones were my favourite and I say outstanding without a pause and using the word correctly and without hesitation A bowl of perfectly made Hakata Noodles in a House Broth was made to look simple when the art of preparing such a simple dish is lost on many The roasted pork belly with pickled mustard seeds was unctuous, rich and fatty in all the right ways The fried chicken Kara-age with lemon pepper butter dressings shone brightly on the table and was another excellent example of making good food properly Overall a clear 10 out of 10

Came here during our bank holiday weekend escape from London, and what a gem it turned out to be. It’s tucked away in a little alleyway but easy to find. We were seated in the downstairs bar area which has a mix of high and low seating, with just the right balance of cozy and charming. I didn’t catch our waiter’s name but I believe he’s one of the managers. His service was impeccable from start to finish. We loved all the food but the charred pork belly is a must try. You can truly taste how much love goes into every dish. We got to have a chat with the chef, Brendan. His warmth and passion for his craft shone through, making us feel incredibly welcome. The folks at Dorshi genuinely care about and love what they do, and that made for an amazing experience. Can’t wait to come back!
Victoria A — Google review
My husband and I sat in the bar area last week. Got a lush view of the kitchen, folk coming through the door and the whole vibe was perfect. I've had dumplings once in my life before, never really reach for them but they were fab. The pork belly dish with the jus, CRAZY good. Wish I could have eaten more. This kind of place is not to be missed!

What a fabulous meal! Decided to pick up a take away from Dorshi and did not regret it: quick, charming service and the most incredible, beautiful, unusual food. Thanks and appreciation to everyone involved, keep doing what you're doing!

My partner and I recently visited Dorshi whilst on holiday and with an evening to ourselves. This charming little place is truly a gem and I can honestly not think of anything at all during our dining experience that was not outstanding. The food was utterly glorious, as were the drinks. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drink they are selling. It was one of the most enjoyable eating experiences I think I’ve ever had, I wouldn’t have a second thought about going again if I happen to find myself anywhere within an hour’s drive, and I would heartily recommend anyone looking for great food in the Bridport area to try them out. Absolutely fantastic.

This quaint eatery prides itself on serving an array of mouthwatering dishes that blend traditional recipes with modern flair. With a commitment to using fresh, local ingredients—especially the catch from nearby waters—Seagulls ensures every meal is both flavorful and satisfying.
Seagulls restaurant is the best place to eat in West Bay in our opinion. The food is consistently amazing and the service is great! I had the Thai green curry and home made bread and butter pudding. I can’t wait to go back and have it again! I have tried several things on the menu and they have all been wonderful!

Absolutely brilliant meal! Food was delicious - fairly simple but well cooked and excellent flavour - a home-cooked feel but fantastic. Most of the mains served with a choice of veg or salad and potatoes or chips, and a great mix of fish, meat and veggie options. Dessert was also amazing! Three of us had three different mains and desserts and all thoroughly enjoyed them all! Service was also fab, the two waiting staff were friendly and attentive. There was a bit of a wait for food as it's obviously a small operation and it was busy, but very relaxed and worth the wait! Would definitely return if back in the area.

Lovely place, delicious food, with high service. The staff ensures that visitors get the maximum pleasure. Definitely recommend. But to be sure that you will get here, it is better to book a table in advance, especially on weekends. We came on Friday and it was fully booked. So we came back on Saturday, but previously booked a place.

Smashing atmosphere in this lovely seaside bistro. The well trained staff were both attentive and knowledgeable yet managed to stay anonymous enough, as to not be in the way. The food was great and the portions just right. We were left pleasantly full without being stuffed!

Just fabulous. The staff were polite and friendly. The atmosphere was perfect, the service was swift but not rushed, and the food was amazing. Good size portions, but not too much. Food was cooked to perfection. My partner likes his steak blue, he said it was exactly as he wanted. Will definitely be going again.

The food was just amazing and so was the service. It was so good we booked to go back 2 days later. Again we were not disappointed by the food or service. I had the lamb shank, which was so tender and on the second visit I had steak WOW. My husband had the hake and then the chicken supreme i can tell you that was also very nice

Super little restaurant serving lots of local fare. Good value considering pubs are asking the same amount these days. Served with care and food very well presented. I had linguine gambas (which were massive), preceded by a deliciously fresh salmon pate. Good selection of wines by the glass or bottle and an espresso coffee for £2! Deffo coming here again.

Had a really nice meal here on Friday night. Food was very nice. Starters we opted for Prawns which were cooked in a curry based sauce, very smooth and rich. The white hake catch of the day was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this dish. The staff were also helpful and kind and explained all dishes and desserts in detail

I think the Olive Tree in Bridport is probably the best restaurant I’ve ever dined in. I’ve dined there several times over the last few years and have always enjoyed the food. It’s consistently of a very high quality and always extremely tasty. My most recent visit was the first time I have experienced the lunchtime Spectacular which I found an absolute delight and would highly recommend. There is always a crowd of at least eight of us that dine together and the service has always been first class and very professionally managed so never any dishes arriving late or cool. My daughter is vegan and gluten free and has always been very well catered for. I have tried various options on the menu over the years and have always been very happy with my dining experience. The prices are very reasonable for the standard of cuisine served at the Olive Tree and I would highly recommend it if you fancy a tasty treat extravaganza.
Russell B — Google review
Our recent dinner at the Olive Tree in Bridport was really very good indeed. A pleasant room with attentive service. A tempting menu. Both our starters reached the 'try some of mine' level of taste. The catch of the day was beautifully cooked fresh fish with simply but beautifully cooked local vegetables. The cheese board was so good we took some home to continue the next day. Prices were extremely reasonable.

We had our Wedding Reception at the Olive Tree last night. We had a fabulous time with amazing food and service. Nothing was too much trouble with special attention to detail. Perfect on so many levels. Many thanks to Simon and his team. Philip and Pauline

Easy 5 stars. For the quality of the food and the portion sizes, it is very reasonably priced. I think I had half a trawlers worth of mussels in my pasta. The waitresses were also great.
Ollie B — Google review
This is a great place for seafood. The pizzas are nice too - they have a pizza oven. I recommend the catch of the day. It comes with a nice butter sauce and a nice selection of steamed veg, slightly different than usual, which was quite lovely. If you like mussels, the seafood spectacular is the one to go for. I also enjoyed the fish soup. Attentive service and nice atmosphere. It’s nice either for lunch or dinner. I’ve found, if I just walk in, I won’t be guaranteed a table because it’s quite popular. Best to call ahead and book.

I would award more stars if I could! The vibes of this place are immaculate ✨ we went as a family with four adults and two littles and had the most wonderful meal! Staff were lovely with the children, interacting with them and providing colouring and activities to keep them entertained. The whole restaurant has this lovely relaxed feel whilst delivering some of the most sumptuous food we’ve ever had. All locally sourced produce and a great selection to choose from. We loved it so much we immediately booked to have breakfast for the last day of our trip where I had the pleasure of eating the most delicious bacon sandwich I have ever had (the Dorset Doorstop!) 10/10 do not leave west bay without eating here!

Dog friendly, we were seated but told they needed the table back for a certain time. No one came to take our orders at the table so we assumed you had to go to the bar to order but then we kept getting asked what table we were on - they weren't labelled so we're still unsure whether it was supposed to be table service or not?. We found the food to be pretty average, nothing special

My favourite place to eat and grab coffee, have loved this place since it opened and it’s such a treat to visit, I’ve never had a bad experience here. The team are always friendly, accommodating, and appear to have great communication. It was a busy market day when we visited and yet the service was exceptional - food arrived quickly, and despite a constant flow of people wanting a seat, we didn’t feel at all rushed and enjoyed a peaceful, delicious lunch. Like the food, the coffee is always made to a high standard. Though some may think it a simple thing, the carrot sandwich is anything but, and I highly recommend! Always an insanely good selection of cakes/deserts (I love the basque cheesecake and chocolate brownie) and the decor and ambience adds to the great experience. I will continue to recommend Soulshine to everyone!

What a gorgeous little cafe! We popped in for breakfast and had such a lovely time. There's a variety of seating options at a table, window bar or outside. The staff are so friendly and personable.
