Sights & Landmarks
The Royal Château of Blois is a former palace featuring ornate royal chambers and a collection of paintings and sculptures spanning from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Situated in the heart of a town, it comprises several distinct buildings dating back to the 1200s through the 1600s, totaling over 560 rooms and 75 stairways. Notably, it boasts a renaissance exterior spiral staircase on the Francis wing.
Very nice location and worth the visit! It really shows well how the place was modified along the ages. Guides are fantastic and really engaging. The light show was another great highlight!
Camila V — Google review
I really enjoyed the visit to this chateau, with its beautiful architecture and decorations. It also was well displayed and explained on information plates, plus the audio guides were a great help.
Adie K — Google review
We got the castle and light show combo for €22. The light show tells the history of the castle and is really impressive. The castle is bigger than it looks—it took us about 3 hours to explore. Very elegant inside, with beautiful furniture.
Alexandru L — Google review
The light and sound show was spectacular - wish I hadn't declined the English translation service as no idea what they were talking about. The night time experience was also very good. Recommend but take up the free translation
Adrian P — Google review
One of my favourite places in Loire Valley. So much history, so much to see inside and not busy at all. 4 different eras of buildings and super easy to navigate! Plus Blois is such a beautiful beautiful town!
Gabriela S — Google review
Beautiful Château with a long history going through different Kings and different Architecture style as well. They have a light show in the night which explain a long history -> amazing experince to listen and understand more about that😉
Quỳnh N — Google review
The various buildings abs their history is interesting and the histopad gives you the information that you would otherwise not know by just looking at them. Although inside is mostly artwork with a few pieces of furniture, again the histopad gives you that extra.

Was the best Château we visited in France on our trip so far and a dont miss in my opinion.

Fondation du Doute is a contemporary art center located in a vibrant space, showcasing an eclectic collection of multimedia works. The museum is dedicated to the radical Fluxus movement of the 60s and 70s, which aimed to challenge traditional perceptions of art and its place in people's lives. The museum features 300 pieces of work by 50 different artists, including a playful installation called the Wall of Words by artist Ben Vautier.
Very interesting and modern art, much of which is interactive. Fun things to do, we were able to make our own flags that will be displayed in an exposition. Really recommend!

Fantastic place. The art makes you think. Delightful. A little warm, though, despite the fans and one air conditioner.

An interesting modern art museum. I think we most enjoyed the exterior.
David S — Google review
Quite an interesting place. A lot of the art might be difficult to engage with, some of it quite good.

Great place Grate performers Is it also the house of the town music conservatory

Great great repository of Fluxus works
Amanda V — Google review
It's a very different museum. You will find the concept of chaotic art in almost every artwork in the museum. The fluxux was also a new concept for me which applies to any sort of non-harmonic way of art which changes your point of view when next time you look at a painting or a photography.

The Robert-Houdin House of Magic, located in front of the Chateau Royal in the Loire Valley, is a large 19th-century house that offers an immersive experience into the history of magic and the life of local magician Eugene Robert-Houdin. The museum spans over five levels and features original exhibitions, optical illusions, and over 2000 square meters dedicated to showcasing the art of conjuring.
I hesitated at first because I'm not a big fan of magic, but the experience completely captivated me. It is so interesting to see objects that have been used in magic numbers, so much energy charge, I absolutely loved everything. The experience is delightful and I really recommend visiting, the ticket price includes a mini magic show and at the end the store offers you a multitude of extraordinary things.
Sasha — Google review
We had a fantastic time at the house of magic in Blois! My kids were absolutely amazed by the magicians performance live tricks throughout the museum. It really brought the magic to life in such a fun and interactive way! But the highlight for all of us was definitely the dragons that appear from the Windows every half hour. The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever and couldn't stop talking about it! If you are in the area, this museum is definitely worth a visit. Even better: entry is free for children under 6 years old and the other ticket prices are very reasonable! Definitely a magical experience for the whole family! You don't need reservations, you can buy tickets at the entrance on the day of your visit.
Kenneth B — Google review
The museum was great.. not big, but very nice… and two great extras: the magic show is simple but very efective (mimic only … so great for non-french) and the coffeshop as very good crepes (loved the lemon curd fill) and an amazing REAL apple fruit juice … see photos
Jorge G — Google review
Amazing find, and truly enchanting addition to Blois. This is a different experience to other chateau’s and a deep dive into the history of magic and Robert-Houdin. The museum was interesting and interactive and the show was a surprising, yet fantastic extra included in the entry fee. Kept my children on the edge of the seats in amazement throughout the show (6-13 yrs)
Ben N — Google review
A great experience with two magic shows included. Every half an hour dragons appear out of the windows at the front
Stephen M — Google review
Situated just opposite the Chateau is this museum. For A relatively small fee we were able to experience both the museum and a show in the theatre at the premises. The show in the theatre was amazing with this being a great experience. My dissapointment was that the museum itself felt quite small, it could do with one or two more illusions to be installed. I would still highly recommend to go, with both children and adults enjoying this. If you manage to hit both the theatre show (this only occurs 2/3 times a day from memory) and the smaller shows in some of the rooms as well as the museum this museum does offer exceptional value, I would suggest to find out when the theatre shows are before arriving.
Nathan T — Google review
The museum is lovely, with some amazing interactive tricks and interesting displays. We went to see the magic show too, which did not disappoint. There are also some quite amazing animatronic dragons which come out of the windows A great experience!
Jonty P — Google review
Spent a rainy afternoon here and it was well worth the visit, despite not understanding the language of the close up magic shows. The show in the main theatre was great, all mime and some classic magic tricks, perfect for the whole family. The room of illusions was also lots of fun

The Museum of Fine Arts, located in the Royal Chateau in Blois, is a sprawling palace museum showcasing an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and tapestries from the 16th to 19th centuries. Situated just a short distance from Paris, this magnificent castle also offers a vibrant atmosphere with nearby shops, bars, and restaurants. Visitors can immerse themselves in French history while exploring the museum's remarkable gardens and alleys.
Since 1869, the first floor of the Louis XII wing has hosted the museum of fine arts of the town of Blois. Presentation of the artworks is in fact unrelated to the apartments created for King Louis XII.

(Translated by Google) It's included in the castle tour, so that's obviously a very positive point. However, I don't think I'll be very receptive. The works follow one another, with a lot of reading material. The setting is pleasant, but the rooms aren't intended to be historical recreations like the rest of the castle; they're simply an exhibition space. I admit I was bored, but the museum is quite beautiful. I'll leave some photos to give you an idea of what you might find there.

ASSA is a Michelin Star and Michelin Green Star restaurant located on the outskirts of Blois, overlooking the Loire River. The name "ASSA" means morning in Japanese, reflecting the inspiration behind this culinary gem. Anthony and Fumiko Maubert combine French and Japanese influences to create creative plates showcasing local products. Their multi-course menus tell a story of the surrounding gardens, pasture, and farmland.
It is the absolute best meal that I have ever had in a restaurant. They deserve more than one Michelin star. Excellent service and the food out of this world. Creative yet not intimidating

I would gladly give 6 stars if it were possible. An absolutely unique experience, a feast! The food is just great and the experience unique. Thank you so much for this wonderful evening!
Dante S — Google review
Wonderful food experience that combines the French and the Japanese tastes in a creative and surprising way. Every bite pleasures the taste buts in new ways. The seasonality of the products will force us to return in spring. Naturally, dietary requirements were never an issue addressing and checking everything when inventing alternatives to the tasting menu. Never seen a tasting many so well adapted by substituting for something new and original in stead of changing/leaving ingredients out!!!! This is what cooking should be!!!!!! Ps. Even our dog was welcome and enjoyed the attention.

Absolutely amazing restaurant. The most incredible and inventive Japaneses - French food, served with intricacy and flare. Great service with lovely wine pairings. Some of the best food we’ve had in France, and one star doesn’t seem enough for such a meal.
Sasserina M — Google review
We chose the Nature menu (3 course) for our lunch at Assa. The foie gras starter was the most impressive dish, all three different declinaisons of the foie gras were super tasty. For main dish, the fish was delicious but the beef was not very well balanced to our taste, the sauce was a bit too sweet and the pepper on the side was a bit too salty. For dessert, the mushroom balsamic one was very nice and interesting, the matcha one we didn’t like as the beetroot completely took over the dish. Services were good except the cake at the end were not really nicely served. Overall it was a nice culinary experience with an unique Japanese influenced mise en scene. Worth a try if you visit this castle regions of France.

Probably the best gastronomic experience I've had! Food was delicious, creative and well balanced, as was the wine pairing. Service staff were friendly and attentive too

Le Petit Honfleur is a charming timber-framed restaurant located in Blois, offering artfully presented Normandy fare using seasonal produce. The cozy restaurant is nestled on a pedestrian street among Old Town's half-timbered buildings and is known for its local, seasonal, and original cuisine.
Super restaurant, best food I've had while in France. Attention to detail on the selection of ingredients to make the perfect dish. Great explanations on the menu for food and wines. I would recommend the food I had but the menu changes regularly as to what is available locally at the time. But if you find the mushroom entrée this for me was heaven. Chef speaks a little English to help explain what you are having.

Avoid! My friend and I shared lamb and chicken as main dishes for dinner. He had diarrhea immediately on the way back and I felt sick on the next day. The chicken was probably not fully cooked, even though we got on the plate only a tiny piece (see photo). The two meat dishes were served with basically identical vegetable and sauces, which tasted like nothing. I suggest avoid this tourist rip-off restaurant. With 26 Euro for a main dish and 13 for a dessert, you could get way better options in the city/region.

An amazing evening! The food is local and organic! We took the 3 course menu with wine pairing! It was delicious and the wine was each time perfectly matched! The hosts - Lucile & Mickaël - are kind, funny and lovely people! We had such a great time! Highly recommended!

This is a nice family run restaurant, and the food is interesting / creative. We had a good meal here although some of the dishes worked better than others - our mains were delicious but one of the starters was sadly less of a success (the carrot starter was a lot of the same texture / too rich and needed something to cut through the flavours). They also made a mistake with our dessert, but we didn't want to make a fuss so let it be - the apricot clafoutis was ok. I'd still say it's worth a try and going back, as I think the menu changes regularly and the food was good overall.

Really nice evening in a beautiful and hidden spot in the city center. The food was very delicious, all handmade. Really like the fact that they use local products and mostly organic. Thank you for this lovely evening!

Restaurant
La Creusille Restaurant offers a rustic-chic dining experience with typical dishes made from local ingredients and creative accents. The restaurant is located on the banks of the Loire, providing a picturesque view of Blois' main monuments and immediate access to the city center. The establishment's historic setting, once an old inn and farm, adds to its authentic charm. La Creusille also provides private spaces for events, accommodating groups of 5 to 80 people.
One of the best places in Loire Valley . The hospitality of the restaurant's staff created a truly delightful dining . Without a doubt, I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone seeking a remarkable culinary journey. Stareters: The scallops were perfectly seared in the indescribable sauce and the snails in a creamy sauce were a delightful combination of flavors and textures. For the main course, the duck breast was a standout. Cooked to perfection, it was tender and juicy, with a rich, savory flavor. The fish dish, with its crispy exterior and tender, succulent interior, paired wonderfully with the light and foamy dressed risotto, creating a harmonious blend of tastes and sensations. The grand finale was the dessert. The profiteroles were a heavenly indulgence, and the fresh mango and jelly cream dessert was a unique and refreshing delight, perfectly capping off the meal.

This place took us by complete surprise. We were visiting from the States and selected this place, as it was a close walk from our hotel at Fleur de Loire. It’s perched at a beautiful spot on the riverfront facing the cityscape. An inconspicuous location, you walk through gates that read “entrée,” and enter this quaint courtyard and walk up a few steps into a cozy stone building. The service is warm and hospitable. The flavors of the food embody understatedly elegant French cuisine - and at a phenomenal price. The pacing of the meal was perfect. I highly recommend the prix fixe menu. This was a highlight of our stay in Blois, and you can tell that locals also favor this place. 5/5 stars ⭐️

Nestled in the charming cobblestoned town of Blois, Au Rendez-vous des Pêcheurs is a delightful restaurant housed in a former grocery store dating back to the early 1900s. The cozy and welcoming ambiance adds to the experience of savoring innovative and delectable French cuisine. The owner-chef, Christophe Cosme, offers a tasting menu that showcases his culinary expertise.
absolutely amazing experience ! despite having some intolerances the chef have adjusted with enthusiasm and manners my request. The quality and taste are superbe! Bravo Mr Cosme! u deserve stars!

A Culinary Delight! Our dinner at Au Rendez-vous des Pêcheurs was truly excellent. The restaurant offers a choice of three menus, and we opted for the "Menu Inspiration". The food was clearly freshly made, boasting high-quality ingredients that shone through in every dish. Each course was a testament to thoughtful preparation and culinary skill, offered at a very fair price. Adding to the wonderful dining experience was the exceptional service we received. Our server was attentive and friendly, the timing between courses just right. The owner/chef was also very welcoming and friendly. In short, Au Rendez-vous des Pêcheurs comes highly recommended. If you're looking for delicious, fresh food made with quality ingredients and served with excellent hospitality, this is the place to be!
Marjes B — Google review
The food was delicious and relatively inexpensive considering the quality. The atmosphere was intimate and charming. The wine suggestion from our server/hostess was spot on. Being our first time in France, my daughter had parked in a spot that was a "tow zone." The chef/owner explained to her where to park and the food service was put on hold while she got the car sorted out. One of my favorite restaurants while in France and a most memorable one.

Amazing multi-course dinner in the private room for 11 people. Amazing food, atmosphere and service! Food tasted amazing and the owner/chef was very pleasant and showed great hospitality.

One of the most delightful restaurants we have dined at in France. Several set menus are offered to choose from in the evening. Very personable service with the added touch of the owner stepping out to farewell us and ask where we were from. With other patrons also wishing us a friendly Bon Soiree, it felt like we had just dined at a friend's house. We finished the day with a short ten minute walk back to town along the side of the Loire as the sun set.

Les Planches is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria located in the heart of old Blois, situated on a charming and peaceful square. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a delightful courtyard. The owner is friendly and provides excellent recommendations. The menu offers a variety of well-crafted dishes made with high-quality ingredients. Guests can enjoy unique bruschettas and delicious desserts. Additionally, the restaurant offers a great kids' menu at good value.
Bruschetta like I've never had before. Interesting and tasty. The hostess was so helpful. The courtyard is behind the restaurant and is charming. I loved it. Dessert was delicious too.
Lori K — Google review
Had a thoroughly enjoyable family lunch here on a grey warm day in Blois. The courtyard is covered, meaning even with a shower of rain it was enjoyable to be outside. Great kids menu which is good value (although surprisingly didn't include a syrup). The three bruschetta we had were all different and three very generous portions. The salad was dressed in a lovely dressing but was only lettuce, would have been nice for some onion and tomato maybe. The manager served us, and was fantastic, putting up with my terrible french and complimenting my son's (giant) appetite.
Dee R — Google review
Not like most bruschetta with fresh ingredients, this is just some cooked foods on a wide piece of bread. Not very tasty, slow service for how simple the prep was and we were treated to a lecture about how fine a restaurant this was and we should be surprised to wait almost an hour for service. She even forgot the salad we had ordered that would have filled some of the waiting time.
Derrick C — Google review
Wonderful. Went on Friday night, the waitress translated the menu to English for us. No regular menu, just specials of the day. She let me taste the wine to pick which I wanted. So helpful and friendly. Very popular place and the food was great!
Pam S — Google review
The menu is extremely limited being basically pizza prepared on bread with a salad of leaf lettuce on the side. More importantly, the food hygiene of this establishment is completely lacking. We ordered a bottle white which was not chilled at all, and served at the table in an absolutely filthy ice bucket which had floating debris, pieces of vegetables in the water, smudges and smeared food all over it. Disgusting! Upon leaving my eye caught the ice cream scoops by the door which were stored in a filthy plastic container filled with dirty water. I’d wager this water hadn’t been changed in days/ weeks. What goes on behind the scenes on this establishment is highly suspect based on what is in the open. It difficult to believe this place stays in business.
Rob C — Google review
The service is great and the staff is friendly, but there is only one food on a dinner menu (bruschetta), and my annoyance is that it’s not a particularly good one. Toppings are ok on themselves, but using packaged bad bread in a country with such wonderful bread has to be some sort of heresy. It is one of a few places with vegan options which is worth considering if you’re into that but they are certainly quite overpriced
Bruno K — Google review
The ambiance in the backyard is very nice and charming. But portions are a bit small and the bruschetta lacked some spices. Food is definitely OK but it is less satisfying than a pizza which you could have for the same price - you're paying for the surrounding.
Adrian B — Google review
Excellent place for a delicious dinner. Just simple, innovative and delicious food to enjoy in good company. Just perfect.
