Nature & Parks
The Eden Project is an eco-park in England's Devon and Cornwall, offering a rich educational experience with artificial biomes housing plants from around the world. It is a popular destination for families and nature enthusiasts, providing a range of rewarding activities such as exploring the Lost Gardens of Heligan and enjoying the beaches along the St Austell coastline.
Amazing place to visit no matter the weather! There are the inside biomes which are amazing to see in the sun or rain and the wonderful outdoor gardens to see as well. There are great outdoor play areas for kids and if you're feeling adventurous a zip-line that goes over the eden project as well. Definitely worth pre-booking though, to avoid the queues.

Had a nice time here, if you like nature and plants it will be right up your street. Nice restaurant and gift shop. Bit overpriced but you expect it at this kind of place. Accessibility is fine but lots of lifts and walking about required. If you struggle with walking you’ll need a scooter or wheelchair for a nice day out.
Chris — Google review
My partner booked this for me as a treat on a recent break in Cornwall. My first thought was at approx £40 each was expensive but he had already booked it and I love plants so of course off I trotted. Having spent 5 hours there my mind is now changed on the admission price. I absolutely loved it. There is so much to see for plant lovers and it was a really relaxing walk round. Helped that the weather was great so we could take in all the outside areas too. Had our own packed lunch outside and a couple of cuppas in the cafes along the way.... be prepared to walk a lot and there are some steps/steeper areas but nothing too strenuous. If you have a mobility concern it may be worth checking with their team re accessibility etc. Everyone was really friendly and helpful and they all do an amazing job keeping this project maintained and thriving. I noticed they were installing an ice skating area while we were visiting so that would be lovely over the Autumn/Winter. Also if you re visit within 12 months it's free so that's a plus! All in all a great experience. 👍

This attraction is a huge investment in nature and this partially justifies the high entry price, and anyone with a day ticket can return for free within a year. The biomes are magical and the range of plants and flora is amazing. The partridges walking around are cute! The scale is something to be seen. We visited in October and although we booked for 9:30, we arrived to be told the biomes would open around 10:15 or when they were ready?! There are a lot of older staff who just appear over the whole thing to be honest. It must be a nice place to work because none of the staff we met were overly helpful and seemed to be in no rush whatsoever despite long queues. Speaking to a couple making herbal conversation and they were just unfriendly or slightly sarcastic which seemed odd? It really wasn’t busy, but to get a cup of coffee you have to queue behind people buying meals or light bites so it takes forever. Only one gluten free option for kids, so I was charged an adult price for the worst prepared jacket potato ever. Sandwich was stale had to return it. Gift shop is lovely. My kids unusually asked for us not to return the following day as planned, so I think that says a lot. Wonderful place, needs a customer service reboot.
Nicola D — Google review
Lovely place with lots to see and learn. There are two biomes - The Rainforest Biome and The Mediterranean Biome. There are restaurants, gift shops, ice-scream kiosks. It was lovely to see the set-up for a wedding ceremony and reception in the Mediterranean Biome. Nature play grounds for kids. There are some seating areas all over, so you can take a break if needed. Beautiful views, sculptures and plants. It's a lot of walking. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Lovely experience overall.
Faye F — Google review
The Eden Project was built in 2001 at the bottom of an unused clay quarry and the location was carefully selected due to Cornwalls mild maritime climate. With it's futuristic looking bidomes boasts home to one of largest indoor rainforests complemented by a smaller Mediterranean dome which are both surrounded by outdoor gardens. There is an ice rink and zip lines if your feeling more adventurous (both are an extra cost) Expect to spend around 3-5 hours here. Bringing your own food is allowed, but there are also several places to eat. We found all the staff to be helpful. The carpark is included in the admission fee.
Villan C — Google review
Absolutely incredible place, come back year after year. The work done here is amazing. Beautiful plants. Great for everyone with lots of activities for the kids.
Kerry G — Google review
An absolutely unmissable experience for anyone interested in plants, the environment or just fantastic photography opportunities. The eden project has gone above and beyond to make the experience as accessible and environmentally conscious as possible. The biomes enable you to see nature in a way some people may otherwise never be able to experience in person. The restaurants use produce grown within the eden project and there are plenty of shops, restaurants and facilities throughout. It was a truly stimulating and educational experience.

Nature & Parks
Pinetum Gardens, located near St Austell, is a 30-acre family-run garden boasting over 6,000 plant species spread across themed gardens. The garden was created over 40 years ago and offers a tranquil experience with open park land, a lake, and mature oaks. Visitors can explore the Japanese garden and marvel at the Champion Trees while almost all plants are labeled for easy identification.
Today is my last day of a 5 day stay at the gardens and what a gift it has been to stay here. From my first contact prior to arriving, Ben was professional, helpful and knowledgeable and I felt comfortable with my plans to stay here alone. On the day of arrival Ben contacted me to check my arrival time and then met us (a friend decided to also stay here rather than the premier inn he had originally booked) when we arrived, with a warm welcome, making us feel at home immediately. He arranged for us to store our luggage until check in time. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable with everything you need. The bed is very comfortable and I loved the shower pressure. The gardens are simply magically and the most amazing place to start and end your day. The views from my bedroom and lounge areas were stunning. I looked forward to coming 'home' at the end of each day. David was also friendly and attended immediately when we had a question about using the hob. He also makes an amazing breakfast. There is someone on hand all day and into the night if you need any help. We have had a fantastic time including an amazing coastal walk, visiting Charlestown, Fowey, Polruan, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project including doing the parkrun. We walked to the Eden project and doing the parkrun gives you free entry. We had two amazing meals at Springtide and Edie's. We travelled everywhere by foot or bus - just have to make sure you are aware of the bus schedules. I cannot recommend Pinetum Gardens enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay and I look forward to my next visit.
Angela L — Google review
The Pinetum itself is absolutely wonderful. A huge collection of conifers and pine trees of every size, colour and shape. Truly spectacular. The other gardens are pleasant and it's a nice walk to the lake and around it. The winter garden is another highlight, as is the woodland walk, that you might miss if you're not careful.
Ant H — Google review
We found the gardens lovely, we only spent hour and 15 as we was going onto the Eden project could have stopped abit longer and there is a cafe. Wasn’t massive but was nice for us as a stop gap in between things. Found it a pretty walk round we fed the ducks aswell and got chased by the geese which will be a fond memory 😂 came with our son who enjoyed the walk round. Definitely a nice little place to visit.
Jessica P — Google review
Beautiful gardens in late September, not crowded, good parking and facilities. They have a few scooters for the less mobile, a great kitchen for good food and priced very well. Exquisitely maintained by experts in their fields (pun intended). We didn't stay in the on-site chalets so can't say what they are like but assuming they're run by the garden staff then I'm sure they're excellent? Cheers
Redman A — Google review
As a local pass holder I come here often with my children. We all love it, it’s such a lovely place to come all year around for a walk and feed the ducks. My only request would be to add a little natural play area! Pretty please!!
Michelle J — Google review
Pinetum Gardens is an absolute gem and a true delight to visit. The gardens are beautifully maintained, with such a variety of plants, trees, and peaceful corners to explore. Each area has its own charm —from the Japanese Garden to the Woodland Walk, everything feels lovingly cared for. It’s the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon surrounded by nature. A must-visit for anyone who loves gardens and tranquillity!
Diana R — Google review
Beautiful grounds, with well cared for gardens combined with themed areas. Rooms are well fitted out with all that you’d need for a few days. The service was excellent- we were met on arrival and shown our cabin. David took the time to show us where everything was kept and how to work the heating etc. Only thing that stopped it being a 5/5 was the fact you can feel a draught coming through the windows when you’re sat on the sofa. Meant you get a cold neck watching TV! Would recommend staying and planning in some time to wander in the gardens too.
Dan A — Google review
Had a lovely afternoon visit to Pinetum Gardens, the few staff were friendly and the grounds are very pretty and peaceful and worth a relaxing and enjoyable walk round. The cafe had a nice selection of treats too and friendly service. Recommend visiting if this is something that interests you. The plant varieties are impressive and well presented and the garden themes are interesting.

St Austell Brewery, a family-owned business established in 1863, is a prominent feature of the town. The brewery owns several pubs in the area, including the historic White Hart and the lively Seven Stars. These establishments offer excellent dining options. Additionally, visitors can explore the nearby Eden Project and take advantage of cycling and walking routes to reach this popular attraction.
If you Fancy a beer, like we did mid way through a yellow weather warning.....want to try a Tribute, Korev, Cardinal Syn, Divine Intervention, Bad Habit. Big Job, Proper Job, Hicks and more, then go on their tour! We were shown round by Dave the rave who was very informative about the family orientated brewer. He was entertaining and happy to share a bottle or two or 8, discounted at the bar and gift shop a very enjoyable trip and well worth while. August return trip on the horizon 😎

The brewery tour here was amazing Dave was brilliant very knowledgeable, friendly, and interesting. The history of the brewery and family business was so interesting. The tasting at the end was excellent we got to try lots of interesting beers Dave did a great job of talking us through all of them.

Why didn't we do this years ago? Have stayed around St Austell many times Just did the tour. Baz was a super, enthusiastic guide. Very knowledgeable. Gave lots of anecdotes. He knew the products so well. Tasting interesting and informative. He knew several old St A beers I used to love. It was a great value experience David
David L — Google review
The brewery tour here was great! Ed was brilliant - so knowledgeable, friendly, personable and interesting. We really enjoyed it! We were on holiday and had a wet weather day so was trying to find something indoors to do and this was perfect. Even if you don't drink beer (myself included) the history of the brewery and family business was so interesting. And I still really enjoyed the tasting at the end.

Excellent tour, amazing beers and worth visiting! Highly recommended!

The St Austell brewery Hicks Bar, is excellent, good food, the beer is superb, as you would hope. Prices on the beer ate very reasonable around £4.5 a pint. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. The brewery tour booked up☹️, so I will return tomorrow,🙂. Highly recommend close to StAustell centre.

If you love Ales and a bit of local history, then this is defo the place to visit. 90 min Beer tours run 11am and 2pm, but there's plenty of interesting and informative displays if you can't make it.

Garden
Sights & Landmarks
The Lost Gardens of Heligan, located in St. Austell, were lost after World War One and rediscovered in 1990. This 200-acre paradise features Victorian gardens, a jungle area with a bamboo tunnel, woodlands with ivy-laden sculptures, and the romantic Pleasure Gardens offering stunning views across St. Austell Bay from the Northern Summerhouse. The gardens are teeming with life and offer a perfect setting for a leisurely walk amidst colorful flowers.
We experienced the magical Heligan Night Garden which is a separate ticketed event to the standard Lost Gardens entry. All the stewards from the parking attendants, those on the trail and those when we departed were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The accessible parking was close to the entry and this and all the usual parking is free for night garden customers. There are a few ridges from rain in the car park and some trails so take care in a wheelchair or mobility scooter. The night gardens were pretty from the entrance and of course we took far too many photos of the beautiful and creative installations. One super bonus that doesn't appear to be advertised until you check the small print on the back of the leaflet you are given on entry, is that your entire party have a complimentary daytime entry for the gardens until 31st January after you attend the night gardens. The one-way layout of the trail was really well thought out. The accessible routes did not miss any of the installations. The refreshment facilities had queues but plenty of space to sit outside and in the undercover areas (the weather was kind) to enjoy a drink or snack. The Stewards House was serving more substantial meals and warmer inside. The timed entries seemed to allow space for everyone to see the installations and manoeuvre about. The barn was open for goat & donkey petting and taking festive photos in a sleigh or with cuddly polar bears and we toasted marshmallows over a large firepit and enjoyed a created snow shower in one area. We really enjoyed the evening and the families with children around us seemed to be doing so also. The exit is through the gift shop of course.

Great place to visit with something for everyone. We choose to visit here over The Eden project as its dog friendly in all areas and we didn’t want to leave our dog all day. There were acres of beautiful gardens, sculptures and tropical jungle. There’s a farm animal area and wooden play park for the kids. Brilliant day out and cherished memories made. Only issue is paying for parking when you still have to pay for entry. Not a big issue but it would have been nice to expect this prior to turning up and knowing you will be required to park in the farm shop premises next door. This is not very clearly communicated and it made parking more complicated than necessary. Definitely worth a visit!
Nicola — Google review
Lovely safe place to go with the kids, lots of amenities, lots of different things to do. The way the trees are trained in the garden area is stunning. The rare breed of farm animals are cool to see, the jungle is amazing (but not suitable for everyone because of how steep slopes are), and the children's play area is enormous.
Ngozi A — Google review
Great day out with the family, including 3 year old daughter. Gardens are vast, well kept and themed with plenty of variety - from the flower gardens to the jungle section, there's plenty to see and do. Lovely little farm section with the usual animals to pet. The play area in the centre of the estate was excellent and our daughter loved it, the climbing frames were great quality and the bouncy trampoline was fun for everyone! Ample free car parking spaces. Great customer service from everyone we dealt with. We spent 6 hours at the Lost Gardens, which is great value in our opinion. Be prepared for a good workout and bring some sturdy walking boots if visiting when it's wet!
Liam G — Google review
Really enjoyed our visit. We started with a nice lunch in the kitchen, lots of space and food was decent. Nice to see quite a few ingredients taken from the garden. The actual gardens are spectacular, really varied and interesting. Enjoyed the signs and photographs of past gardeners, interesting to hear about the history. The restoration has been done really sympathetically. We enjoyed the kitchen garden and was amazed to see how they grow pineapples. Around every corner is something to suprise and delight you. We stopped for a cup of tea at Stewards House which was nice. The playground looked amazing and can see how much the kids enjoyed it. We really enjoyed the jungle and suspension bridge. Amazing to see how varied all the plant life is. We then did a walk around the outer path and saw a couple of amazing sculptures. All in all a great day out.
Bruce R — Google review
Fantastic gardens. I found the story very moving. The jungle is amazing. Beware its very steep in places. You might have to pay to park - but we were given a coupon for a free drink because of this. Cafe is lovely. Highly recommend
Rae A — Google review
We visited this beautiful garden twice (2018 and 2025) - and it was definitely a good idea to come the second time. Such a lovely huge and well kept garden - you should plan at least 4 hours if you want to discover most of it. Plenty of things to find for both young and old visitors. There is also a huge playground for the kids. We enjoyed taking lots of photos from insects and animals. Besides the hanging bridge with many people waiting to get access, the garden is huge enough so it never feels crowded also on busy days in holiday season.
Jan W — Google review
Lovely place to visit and much bigger than we expected! Unless you spend in the cafe at the farm shop on the way in or out (not the farm shop) you do have to pay for parking as well which I thought was a bit of a pee take. You can't exactly get the bus there so you pay admission AND parking. It was a nice afternoon though.

Fabulous place to stay for touring around Cornwall. Beautiful boutique rooms. Louise and Jason were the perfect hosts giving us loads of tips on where to visit, where to eat, even where to park. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Very relaxing stay. We would not hesitate to come back.

First visit for dinner, very relaxed. Atmosphere and decor was lovely. Warm and friendly greeting. Comfortable drinks in the lounge, and unhurried to make a decision. Moved through to the library to eat, again very comfortable with some quirky decorations which fitted in beautifully. The food was very good, unpretentious but delicious. Thoroughly recommended, will definitely visit again

A birthday weekend at Boscundle Manor was an absolute delight. Excellent in every way. We loved our room and the garden is beautiful. The staff are friendly and thoughtful, always seem to be available yet discreet and not at all overbearing. The breakfast and dinner we had were just right and the recommendation of wine, top notch. We would happily return for another stay and enjoy further talks with the owner about the unusual retrophyllum rospigliosii in the grounds.

Had a 3 night stay here with my grandparents and it was absolutely fantastic! Lovely clean room with comfy beds, the bathroom was very small but it didn’t cause any issues and if that’s the only negative I could find then I think that’s pretty good! The food was delicious, great value and very generous portions! All the staff and owners were welcoming and friendly, especially the waitress we had on our last night (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch her name!) The gardens alone warrant 5 stars and the location is gorgeous! Thank you so much for a lovely stay, I’d definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are nice and clean, beds are comfortable. Breakfast was made or order and tasted good. Staff was lovely. There’s not a ton to dinner the property, so we had to do a bit of diving during our holiday but we would recommend this hotel none the less. Also, they allow dogs which we very much appreciate.

Just had a wonderful 3 night stay here. Such a lovely place, beautiful gardens, lovely food. We had bed and breakfast and also had an evening meal one night. Delicious food. Really friendly staff. Beds were really comfortable. Mattress was great, quite soft which really suited my arthritis, but also suited my husband. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent inn, we were well looked after by very friendly staff. Breakfasts were amazing, cooked breakfast was made to order with great selection. We ate in several nights, also great selection. Now need to diet and dry out. Location was very handy for that part of Cornwall.

We stumbled upon this wonderful Inn by typing “dog friendly accommodation” into Google. It is also an adult only which was lovely. It was easy to find, although on a main road so lots of traffic noise during the day, but quietening down overnight. Our room was small but adequate and we stayed for two nights. The staff were super friendly and we sincerely felt right at home. Donna is outstanding. We had breakfast and an evening meal all of which were delicious and we even had a chat with Stan the chef to compliment him. When I say “we will be back” I am not lying. We had a really lovely relaxing time and the gardens are truly awesome. Thank you all 🙂🙏❤️

The menu features a variety of delectable dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From hearty breakfast options to flavorful lunch and dinner choices, there's something for every palate. The restaurant prides itself on its friendly service and attention to detail, making it a great spot for casual meals or special occasions.
Had a great experience dining here for a birthday celebration. The team member who looked after us, Josh, went out of his way to ensure we had a great meal and a relaxed time, great hospitality. The menu showcases the very best of local ingredients and suppliers, and every dish was outstanding. Grilled scallops with citrus butter, almonds, shaved roast cauliflower and golden raisins were a particular highlight, but each dish was well executed - very fresh crab roll, lemon sole with asparagus, and lamb rump on vegetable compote with feta - wishing I could go back again soon! I also recommend you check out the locally-inspired cocktail creations and the Cornish wines from Knightor, they really complemented the meal.

Established in 1851, the brewery showcases the art of beer-making in Cornwall and invites visitors to indulge in a tasting session featuring their renowned ales like Tribute and Proper Job.
What a tour! Nick was excellent. His passion for the product and the company shone through and it made the tour! How he described the process, the history and the types of beers was easy to understand and informative. Would absolutely recommend. Also shout out to the gentleman in the shop, friendly and helpful when we arrived late. Thank you!

The bar or the tour? Unsurprisingly, there was a fine choice of St. Austell beers to choose from; but the food was also delicious and sold at a reasonable price. The meat in my burger was succulent and the fries were nicely cooked and hot. My wife ordered the nachos which we presented with liberal amounts of sour cream and guacamole. The tour? Well, thank you Dave for a highly informative and enjoyable 2 hours. Lots of interesting information was delivered, and Dave was ace; so was the tasting afterwards.

Went on a brewery tour here with some friends, fantastic guide (Baz) who worked at the brewery for many years and STILL comes back to do tours even though he's retired! An excellent, relaxed and thorough tour, with a passionate guide and accomodating all, even those who were driving or weren't big beer fans. Good food in the bar before too.

My husband and son went on the tour, they enjoyed looking around the brewery but especially the sample tasting afterwards. Baz, our guide, was very knowledgeable and likeable. The Brewery is well worth a visit. Although we didn't do the tour this time as we had visited many years ago. We had a very interesting conversation with very knowledgeable member of staff about the changing Hicks family history of the brewery. Hicks bar itself is a beautifully arranged bar serving delicious food. Although we didn't eat this time, we enjoyed the ambience whilst having a drink brewed on site. It has a well stocked shop. We treated ourselves to a bottle of their rum Hicks 125 70% proof. Haven't opened it yet, just hope it's as good as the bottle we bought 25years ago !

Every pint was in perfect condition, and they have a range of bottled St Austell beers and other drinks as well (soon to be joined by local Cornish wines I believe). Extensive menu of pub food classics including a range of homemade soups. Portions are large! A very welcoming place to relax when visiting St Austell.

On a short break to St Austell we ate here twice for an evening meal. On both occasions the food was lovely (be ware, the portion sizes are huge so opt for the smaller plate if you have a normal appetite) and most of the staff are attentive. However, on both occasions it was spoiled by loud staff members and their off-duty colleagues or friends, using bad language, possibly drunk. We and another couple from a nearby table moved from the restaurant to the lounge area on the second evening to finish our drinks but we could still hear them. The staff didn't seem bothered by this behaviour. This would put us off ever coming again as clearly customers don't come first in this place.

I visited today for a roast and the food itself was absolutely lovely – perfectly cooked, faultless, and clearly made with care. Unfortunately, the experience was let down badly by the service. Our waiter was rude, unprofessional, and disorganised, making what should have been a relaxed meal unnecessarily difficult. Orders weren’t taken correctly, and the lack of attention to detail created a frustrating atmosphere that really spoiled what could have been a fantastic experience. Such a shame, as the kitchen did an excellent job, but the front-of-house service really needs serious improvement. A mention to the young male trainee who was very attentive and made the experience a little more bearable.

A comfortable overnight stay in an ensuite room and a good Cornish breakfast. Value for money on par with the travel hotel chains, but the location is better, staff friendly and the facilities good. The hotel has a small number of free parking slots, probably not enough for high season, but we had no problems in March. There is a cozy bar and lounge area and meals are available during the day and evening.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are all very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The bar and dining areas are welcoming and cosy. Great pub food and fantastic breakfasts. A lovely place to stay in the centre of St Austell. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel with fantastic food but best thing was the amazing staff. They couldn't do enough for you. A special mention to Mikhail and Jack who always took the time to make people smile.

I enjoyed my stay at white Hart Hotel. It was clean, comfortable and the staff were lovely. I wnjoyed a delicious evening meal of lamb shank with lots of beautifully cooked fresh vegetables. The hotel is close to the train station and shopping centre. Jack the waiter was especially friendly.
