The former Grand Hotel des Thermes is a remarkable structure with a captivating interior that showcases a blend of liberty, Moorish, and oriental art. While the number of visitable rooms may be limited, they are filled with intricate details. Of particular note is the Red Tavern, which exhibits exquisite paintings and vibrant colors. The Palazzo dei Congressi event management company has pleasantly surprised visitors with this splendid palace.
Wonderful conference hall for bridge and other events
Jurica M — Google review
Played bridge here for a week in July 2025. It's a 200 year old building with several large halls. The halls are great, clean, and look grand. The only downside is that the toilets are awful and unacceptable by American standards. It's a great location with plenty of restaurants around.

(Translated by Google) It bears the signs of an ancient splendor, but that splendor is really too ancient. It would need considerable modernization, while retaining part of the original furnishings. The newest part is the theater which hosts the events. There's little to say about that. For the rest, between old tiles and limping marble steps, there is a lot of work to be done.

(Translated by Google) Visiting the former GRAND HOTEL DES THERMES, now known as the PALAZZO DEI CONGRESSI in Salsomaggiore Terme, is a fascinating experience, leaving you awestruck by its magnificence! It is located in the heart of a magnificent park, and the immense structure, with 300 rooms, dates back to the early 1900s! It was the gathering place of the nobility of the time and the great figures who characterized that historical period... QUEEN Margherita of Savoy, for whom the hotel's suite was reserved, and the writer Gabriele D'Annunzio, not to mention all the others like Giuseppe Verdi, and I'll stop here. Entering those marvelous, sumptuously frescoed halls is like immersing yourself in the past, in an atmosphere of times gone by, which has the flavor of a timeless era like LA BELLE EPOQUE!!! I really enjoyed the place. The architecture is amazing, the baths are small but with lots of entertainment and the massage was good. Here and there you do see small areas that could use some repair but I think this added extra charm.

Busy at lunch time. But worth the wait. Very nice pasta served with a smile
Eddy N — Google review
The food is delicious and fresh, it is prepared efficiently and quickly. The service is not very friendly. The waitress defiantly threw forks into the plates when she cleared the table. We drank three glasses of wine, but we were counted 4, and we asked to remove the extra glass from the receipt. Of course, it could have been a tip, but you have already included 7.5 euros in the service receipt without telling us about it. You could be more tolerant of your customers, we don't eat for free and plus we pay for the service. I understand that there are too many visitors here, and you can show off... but like most people, I don't like being rude for my money. Waiters are always the face of the restaurant. If they are not ready to work with people, then even well-cooked food will not fix poor service. We are grateful to the chef for the delicious food.

Have been here many times and have never been disappointed. Great menu offering delicious pizza, pasta’s, Steaks and fish dishes. Lively atmosphere, outside eating to the front and at the swimming pool complex at the back. Exceptional service from a great team, very friendly and helpful. Generous portions at a reasonable price. Last night my brother and I had a beautiful 1.2kg oven baked fresh Turbot with various fresh vegetables which was simply delicious! Mixed grilled Fish, Fritto Misto and all the desserts were very good. A must visit if you find yourselves in the beautiful spar town of Salsomaggiore, can only highly recommend! Bravi!

Nestled in a picturesque setting, Trattoria Ceriati di Antonio Tartamella & C Snc offers a delightful escape for travelers seeking authentic Italian cuisine. This charming B&B features cozy accommodations with stunning hill views and an inviting restaurant that boasts outdoor dining options. Unfortunately, Google allows me to give a maximum of 5 stars only. However, I am giving Trattoria Ceriati 6 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟. I drove 1.5 hours today just to check this place out. The trip was worth it and, as a frequent traveler to Italy, I will come back for more. Complimenti!!

Nice local trattoria with good food looking out over the hills. Service is young and not so communicating have to ask twice for dessert menu and three times for the bill. But nevertheless a nice place witj large portions, share the pasta's for sure.

Excellent food in a friendly atmosphere. The place is un the woods: fresh air, smelling green. Service is friendly, but could be a bit slow. Must visit, if in the area.

We spent a few days in the area and asked the locals for a recommendation. L'oco Bianca restaurant received the most positive recommendations. Ambience, service, food ... everything is extraordinary! Don't forget to book a table!
Andrija D — Google review
We have been welcomed in the trattoria with a smile. The service has been excellent during the whole course with suggestion what to take. We took two starters ( duck and polenta with lardo di Colonnata). The duck with a bit hint of vinegar was melting in the mouth, it was delicate and very good. The lardo melt on top of the polenta and it was delicious. We also ordered torta fritta where we also added the lardo to melt on top. I ate the Filetto / Filet cooked on top of Himalayan salt. The Filetto didn't need a knife to be cut as it was soft. My friend ate the battuta di fassona and it was delicious. We could not stop and ordered the dessert. Tortino al cioccolato. It was good and soft inside. I would have cooked one minute less to have the "lava effect" where the chocolate poured in the plate. I am very satisfied with our dinner and I will return here again. Recommended.

Très bonne cuisine !! Very good place to enjoy authentic high-level Italian food!
Xavier O — Google review
Lovely place with great food. The portions are well sized but pasta and a main is a bit too much when served rapidly after one another. The staff was very friendly and we’ve enjoyed our stay a lot here. I’d recommend the Guinea fowl and their traditional warm gnocco fritto 👌🏻
Florian — Google review
Amazing dinner. Wonderfull cuisine, most is local and all of it is homemade such as the pasta’s and the goose meat platter (which is astonishing). Staff is very friendly and attentive, prices are very reasonable for what you get. We brought our two year old which was no issue for them. Worth the trip!
Willem W — Google review
I’ve been there for a lunch on Sunday. The place is fine (old building in the countryside next to the hills). Quality of food medium-high. Service unsatisfying, they could do more. They are polite and kind but you have sometime to solicit them (not just for details). Wine was not at the right temperature. Price is pretty high for a place in the countryside in Piacenza with partially unsatisfying service.

Nestled behind the charming Scipione Castle, Ristorante Osteria Del Castello offers a delightful dining experience that feels like stepping back in time. This family-run establishment is known for its homemade dishes, with a menu featuring local specialties such as onion and Parmesan tart, snails with sausage, and rabbit terrine. The restaurant boasts a lovely terrace where diners can enjoy breathtaking views stretching all the way to Piacenza while catching a refreshing breeze on warm summer days.
We came back to this restaurant on Saturday evening. Reservation is highly recommended, the tavern is family-run but is still exclusive, and the room - although large - accommodates the number of tables appropriate to the location. After all, especially to enjoy a quiet dinner with the family, moreover in an ancient small medieval village, you could not ask for more. With regard to the food: the new owners, who have added a touch of their Aosta Valley heart to the table, do not make Walter and Paola regret. Friendly staff in the dining room, beautiful presentation of the dishes, fantastic and creative starters. We have not tasted the first course, but regarding the second course, the cheek with fried polenta is really excellent, the meat cooking really spectacular; if I hadn't been full, I would have ordered another one. The desserts are also good and the wine list is average. Finally, in our opinion correct price for the location and for the food. For sure we will come back when we will back in Salsomaggiore.
Fra C — Google review
Went here following the google rating. Beware that portion size would be very traditional italian and small. You'll have to order in full appetizers to primi to secondi. We only got secondi each and it was very small. Dishes were rather mediocre. The local red we got recommendation from the owner, Zerioli was honestly really bad, vinegar-ish. Really enjoyed panna cotta though.
Hyun A — Google review
Scipione is an impossibly cute castle on a hill, many of which are dotted throughout Emilia Romagna. The restaurant is around the back of the castle. There is a terrace with views all the way to Piacenza, which catches the breeze even on a hot summer day. All the food is home made, order everything the owner recommends. Menu includes onion and Parmesan tart, snails and sausage, rabbit terrine. Nearby there is a nature reserve where rare bee eaters nest.

Pizza restaurant
La Porchetta is a laid-back eatery that specializes in traditional and gourmet pizzas, as well as pasta dishes and Italian mains. Due to COVID-19, dining takes place outdoors under an awning/tent on the wide sidewalk. The food is flavorful and plentiful, offered at reasonable prices. Although the interior of the restaurant is currently unavailable for dine-in, its stunning Art Nouveau decor is definitely worth a visit when it reopens. For tourists, the waitstaff are proficient in English.
Dining was outdoors under an awning/tent on the wide sidewalk because of covid. The food was tasty and generous for a good price. The inside of the restaurant was not available for dine-in, but it is decorated in a beautiful Art Nouveau style, and it's definitely worth checking out if you get the chance. For tourists, the waiters speak good English. I hope I can visit again when it is open inside.

We stayed in Salsomaggiore for three nights and ended up eating here every night. The pizza is nothing like we have had before, absolutely amazing.. both crispy and soft. We also tried the pasta with sausage and amaretti, again incredible. Very good service and honest prices.

Great Italian food but local style pizzas have a very thick base (2-3 cm) which are not to my personal taste. Pizza portion very big so beware not to spoil the excellent first and second plate dishes.
Chris B — Google review
We‘ve never had such lousy, greasy food served with such an arrogant attitude. Worst restaurant experience since many years. In a movie or sotcom this would actually be funny. In reality it‘s just bad.
Pascal M — Google review
This was the most dissapointing meal I have experienced. We went expecting to eat a great local porchetta, none on the menu Tortellini was full of sugar, tagliatelle was hard and cold with no smell of tomato. We waited 25 minute for a pizza slice which was forgot and then thrown together with cold ingredients. Finally the chef proceeded to argue with us when we complained.
