La Folie Douce Val d'Isère is a popular apres-ski destination known for its lively atmosphere and Scandinavian-inspired traditions of dancing on tables and enjoying good beer. It's a favorite among both first-time visitors and returning guests, offering a strong sense of community with seasonaires and residents from various nationalities. The bar, located on the slopes above La Daille, is bustling with energy as DJs create an electric atmosphere that draws in crowds spilling out across the slopes.
Amazing views, great food topped with beautiful live performances. This experience definitely enhanced our ski holiday week.

We had THE most amazing two days celebrating at The Folie in Val- incredible music, dancing, VIP service and especially from Jojo and the food and tour through the kitchens was just out of this world. Such a unique experience and even had our two little boys with us and they loved it so much too, especially the dancing on tables. Thank you fabulous Folie crew! Can’t wait for next season.

The kids were welcome too. The food was amazing, music and party out of this world! Thank you so much guys for the best birthday weekend 😘

Après doesn’t get any better than the FD closing party! Thanks so much to JoJo and the whole FD team for giving our team of 2-year old and up a couple of great days.

An amazing experience, so much fun on top of the mountains! The entertainment was brilliant and lunch was delicious. A little overpriced but the views and atmosphere is like no other!

Lunch outside. Staff attentive, maybe overly so. A little pushy to get our order. Apart from that great experience and very tasty food.

Easy to get up to with the VIP cable car - then you’re up one escalator and the music is pumping ! It’s bipolar though - outside is like a rave and inside is an incredibly stylish restaurant lol Both are superb in their own right. Just a shame that you can’t do an evening meal up there… Bloody good fun though dancing on the tables!

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled in the charming resort town of Val d'Isere, La Table de l'Ours offers an exclusive and remarkable dining experience. The restaurant, entirely renovated in 2021 by a local artisan, provides a cozy and warm setting to savor the refined culinary creations of Chef Antoine Gras. Embracing seasonal ingredients, the limited operating period ensures each visit is unique.
La Table de l’Ours is undeniably among the best restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining at. They effortlessly accommodated everyone's needs, especially mine with dietary restrictions. Substituting the Saint Jacques with a delightful cauliflower dish and replacing lotte with incredibly tasty snails showcased their adaptability. The foie gras was an absolute delight, and the chicken was so exquisite I couldn't resist seconds. Chef Antoine Gros's expertise shines through every dish. He is extraordinary. Ines and the entire staff were exceptionally skilled, warm, and professional. My Christmas Eve couldn't have been more perfect thanks to this fantastic experience.

My wife and I went last night and it was by far the best fine dining experience of my life. The food and the service was beyond exceptional. Such small detail and finesse in everything that was offered and presented. When in the area, this is a restaurant not to miss. I would give more stars if I could. Thanks so much!

Exceptional. Thanks for a wonderful xmas meal. Follow the chefs menu. And kindly gave us a ride home at the end of the night! Treat yoself

I'm comparing this against other Michelin star restaurants. On that scale this place left us a bit disappointed. The food was cooked very well as you would expect but it was all a bit safe. The flavours were very mild and tame. Nothing really stood out expect for one of the amuse bouche which was the savoury marshmallow. The service, whilst good in general terms, was also a bit below the typical Michelin star norm.

Our favourite fine dining place in Val d’Isère / Tignes area… the focus on local ingredients and wines, absolutely loved it.

Food was average and service was quite bad, they asked to guarantee our booking with credit card, than choose what we want to eat in advance and totally forgot about us after we finished our meal, felt like money making machine, no athmosphere... Wine pairing for menu was also unsatisfactory:(( Only a few stars for nice design of the meals and tasty meat.

Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque Val d'Isere, Restaurant La Baraque is a charming seasonal dining spot that captures the essence of the alpine landscape. The menu showcases a creative and refined take on regional flavors, with carefully curated dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. As night falls, the restaurant transforms into a lively hub of gastronomy and mixology, offering unique cocktails, generous cuisine by Chef Romain Colinet, and decadent desserts by Jean-Philippe Baudru.
I did not make photos, as everything was so damn good, that we did not care to picture it lol. Mais c’est génial, cocktails are great, food is amazing! It’s obviously prepared from the quality products, and my deep shoutout to the staff, GG! Ps. The best tartar I have ever eaten ❤️🫠

One of the best restaurants in France. I wasn’t confident in the beginning because it’s in a dark pub with heavy drinking and dancing next to us. But when the food arrived I was astonished! Everything we ordered was perfectly served! We ended up having the best meal of our trip. Definitely recommend!
AbdulAziz A — Google review
Really good food. Relaxed atmosphere with live music in the bar, just a shame they rush you thru but to be fair they do tell you in advance that you only get the table for two hours.
Greg M — Google review
For the price (it is not cheap) the value for money was definitely missing. The place was packed by 7.45pm and there were not enough team members to deliver service, therefore you spend most of the time trying to attract someones attention. Starters arrived in 5 min (always a bit worrying), and were ok (Lobster rolls and Foie Gra), mains a little longer. Unfortunately, the fillets were so rare that we left about 30% (we asked for medium), did try to get someones attention but gave up. Probably a good place for a drink but not to spend £300 on two mediocre meals

The best food in Val. The most extensive wine list and a great vibe. Plus plenty of fun to be had with music and dancing later in the evening. Very French.
Phillip W — Google review
Service is very attentive by a young staff. Lamb shoulder was really nicely done. Live music was amaxing. Prices have almost doubled from a few years ago though which is surprising...
Xanyar K — Google review
Nice setting, food is expensive but was decent quality on most items, service was OK but everything seems crowded and very rushed. Unfortunately, the main bar area (bigger than the dining area) had the worst DJ ever, playing cliched pop hits - but the reason we'll never go back is the awful crowd (mostly drunken Brits) who were often obnoxious and made the place unbearable.
John M — Google review
Truly unpleasant and disorganised people to deal with. Made two reservations- one was cancelled because they ‘double booked us’ (soon after learning we were English coincidentally). The second booking attempt was two hours of confusion from their side and countless back and forths that eventually lead us to scrap it entirely. Used to be a good spot but now a tourist trap. Be prepared to pay fortunes for poor service.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Val d'Isère, Matsuhisa Val d'Isère is a culinary gem that brings the renowned flavors of Chef Nobu to the French Alps. Following a successful season at Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez, this exquisite restaurant showcases an elegant minimalist design that highlights the artistic essence of its dishes. Guests can indulge in a unique fusion of Japanese cuisine infused with Peruvian influences, all while enjoying intimate dining experiences amidst stunning alpine scenery.
Not sure why the bad reviews. Having been to multiple Matsuhisa’s, everything from the food to the service to the decor was perfection. High quality ingredients presented well. Service was immaculate as a solo diner and the Arielles dining room is stunning. I’d dine here again when I return to Val D.

Beautiful interior, service was good. It would be better if this place didn’t host russians who cheer to their sick country and speak about you in a derogatory way. Another evidence that access to European values will not change sick minds…
Malika — Google review
The service was outstanding, the food was superb, and the drinks were perfectly crafted. This restaurant ranks among the top I've ever visited. Alvin provided exceptional service, carefully catering to our menu preferences, and every dish he brought to us was superb.
Javier B — Google review
We had an unfortunately very unpleasant service experience at Matsuhisa. We had a 9pm booking (they only have 2 sittings), weren’t given menus, water or offered drinks for at least 40 minutes after our arrival. We were told the omakase wouldn’t be available for groups of 6 after 9pm (no one mentioned this to me when booking). The food all came out incredibly quickly (within 30 minutes) and our wine and water was not topped up throughout the service, nor were the staff available to ask if we wanted anything additional. To top it off there was an additional €190 bottle of wine on our bill which we didn’t drink or order. While the food was very tasty (as expected and reflected in the price - the total bill was over €200pp), for a restaurant of this type, the service was awful. Having eaten at Nobu a number of times, this restaurant isn’t even in the same league.
China W — Google review
Cooked dishes were good. Service was okay, staff was eager to help but not very knowledgable. Sake menu was limited. HOWEVER. They literally served us the worst sushi rice I have ever had. It was unseasoned (I dont think they used any vinegar) and mushy. Its not an exageration to say that I have never had worse sushi rice, and I'm including grocery store sushi in this. It makes no sense. I'm not gonna knock them for having mediocre fish in the Alps, but rice ships well, and there is no excuse for a Nobu restaurant serving what they served. This isn't some stylistic choice either, I've been to Nobu NYC (back when it was cool) and Matsuhisa Aspen, and they didn't have these issues. Someone should have tasted it and known better, and I regret not sending it back and paying for it.
Phill R — Google review
The food is rather disappointing for the price, service is also questionable. Also, limited sake selection, no sweet options.

Afrodite and the team are sensational! Go go go and see them!

Driver of their van with the Matsuhisa logo on the back was dangerously overtaking cars on blind corners and cut in front of me before a bend behind a school bus on the evening of the 7th March. Driver needs banning, absolute see you next Tuesday.

Perched at the top of Le Fornet lift, Restaurant d'Altitude Le Signal may not catch your eye from the outside, but inside awaits a cozy atmosphere with a crackling log fire. Indulge in hearty Savoyard dishes like tartiflette and pot au feu, accompanied by a sip of genepy.
This is the second time I've been here. Great food very worth going. Prices are high but food is extremely tasty. Very pretty food the other reviews which have been left here are not for the restaurant but the place downstairs. Make sure to check out upstairs. You will not be disappointed

Great lunch stop, chaotic at peak times but that’s part of the character. Service is quick, once they get to you. We always dine in the Brassiere, the menu choice is decent and the ambiance is nicely rustic.

Best pizza in Val-d’Isère. It’s true they expect 1 order per person but this is no big deal, share a pizza and fries - they’re great. We found the staff welcoming and very good-natured and would definitely go back. Prices are also reasonable (comparatively speaking).
Peter K — Google review
Just don’t eat here. It’s not worth it. The owner is extremely greedy - no tap water (which is illegal in France) €8 for a bottle instead. You can’t share a meal even though it’s ridiculously expensive and the portions are HUGE, therefore so much is wasted. Food was very mediocre and the burger bread was hard. The waiters know, as they kept just apologising and agreeing it was dumb - this place is awful and has stupid policies. A clear miss! Learn to run a restaurant properly!
Ella — Google review
Good food and service. Does not have the same views as other locations on the hill. Everything was good but the pizzas were the best. It was busy but still quick so we could get back to skiing.

Wonderful experience and food at this restaurant. Really easy to get to from the valley too via a bubble lift. One of our best experiences during our recent holiday.

Very nice place with comfy seating stunning views and a cool relaxing atmosphere. We had lunch here one day which was good. We only had a small lunch but the food all looked amazing and we will definitely be back to try some more....great place also a brilliant blue run at the side back down to le fornet

Best waffles (from 3 placed tried) in Val-d'Isère that were light and crispy. Great atmosphere, nice views, friendly staff, efficient service and the early afternoon sun. Would visit again!
