Italian restaurant
Ristorante Il Coccorone has been a beloved dining spot in Montefalco for almost 40 years, offering a delightful Umbrian culinary experience. The menu features homemade pasta, truffles, beef, pappardelle with wild mushrooms, and an array of regional cured meats. Diners can enjoy the charming leafy patio or admire the lovely frescoes in the dusky-pink dining room on rainy days.
Wow what a great restaurant really! It was just wonderful One of the best restaurants we had the chance to eat at in Italy. We were delighted with every bite, the atmosphere is pleasant, the prices are fair and the service was amazing! Walter especially! If you go back to Monte Falco - then only to this perfect restaurant😍

Montefalco itself was great but the food and wine at il Coccorone was phenomenal. Especially the "filetto" tasted great and it was really tender. (The best i have ever had) So if you go to montefalco you really should try the food and drinks at il Coccorone.

We went here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the welcome from the waiter. He was very friendly and polite and seated us quickly. After brought our drink he introduced the special dishes of the day. We ordered lamb chop and the special local pasta Pappardelle al Sagrantino and Zucchini flower. All of them are very tasty. We had a really good time there. Great service!

Go here for the steak and make this your splurge night! They know how to grill a steak to perfection. We were recommended this place by a staff member at a local winery and were not disappointed. We were able to get a table on a Thursday night in May without a reservation but were there when it opened, and they quickly became busy so I’d recommend making a reservation. One of the best meals we had on our trip to Italy.

Lovely lunch in the charming town of Montefalco. Focaccia and olive bread in basket were amazing AND they were served with local NUOVA olive oil 2024. Valta and Manuel provided excellent service. We had hand rolled pasta with beef ragu, sliced rare beef with arugula and balsamic glaze - perfetto! And superb rabbit cacciatore. And a lovely bottle of Montefalco Reserve. They did forget to serve the roasted peppers I ordered but that’s ok. The portions were very generous. I would definitely return. Highly recommended

Again (also 3 yearsbago) a great experience! We really love the bistecca fiorentina, the papardelle sagrantino and the zucchini flowers. Combine it with the Coccorone wine and you Will have a great evening!

Museums
Nestled in the charming town of Montefalco, the Museo di San Francesco is a remarkable testament to both Gothic architecture and Renaissance artistry. This grand Catholic church and Franciscan monastic complex, constructed between 1335 and 1585, showcases stunning frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli that depict Scenes from the Life of St. Francis—an absolute highlight for art enthusiasts.
We loved this museum and church and we were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. The paintings and frescoes were beautiful and the special exhibit was extraordinary making it well worth the 10 euro price of admission. It just kept going and going and going.

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by such extraordinary art and the museum in Montefalco is quite magnificent, the fresco cycles are worth visiting central italy for alone. Not to be missed.

Very nice small collection of artworks alongside the overwhelmingly impressive frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli, Perugino, Tiberio d'Assisi and others in the former church.

Wineries & Vineyards
Cantina Fratelli Pardi S.S. is a family winery with a rich history dating back to 1919, when three brothers established the business on the ground floor of the San Marco Hospital. Initially known for producing white and red wines, they gained recognition for their delicious Sagrantino Passito dessert wine. The winery offers tours of its vineyards, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in its heritage while sampling its products.
Very good wines, both white and red.

Perfect place for a wine tour in Montefalco. We did the tour and tasting that included 8 wines plus appetizers (which were generous portions) to accompany each wine we sampled. Apps were made while we sat at large kitchen table and enjoyed the great wines. Shipped a case of wine home. Highly recommend this experience!
Scott A — Google review
I highly recommend this place! Me and my sister visited Cantina Fratelli Pardi on our way to Rome. Owner was in the middle of working in a cellar but he welcomed us anyway. We tried 9 different wines (very good spumante and red wines) and learnt a lot about their company. Greetings from Slovenia! :)
Špela S — Google review
We had such a lovely time at Cantina Fratelli Pardi. My mom and I booked a tasting on a recent Sunday and really enjoyed our visit. Alberto was a wonderful host and told us all about the wine, Umbrian culture, and things to do in the village of Montefalco. We loved all the wine, and the cost to ship was considerably lower than other places we’ve visited. Highly recommend booking a tasting and exploring the village before/after, since it’s located right outside the city walls across the street from a large parking lot.

6 stars! Wine is subjective (they do make really nice wine!) so everyone judges for themselves, but the hospitality of Albertino and his mother is undisputable. Don't be fooled by the exterior of the building, ring the bell and go inside to have a great winetasting experience.

Amazing place! Very kind and personable, truly a joyful experience. If you are in the area definitely worth a stop. Update: A few years later, enjoying an AMAZING bottle of their 2014 rosso... under rated to say the least. This is a 90+ point wine at an incredibly affordable price. Can’t wait to crack the other bottles we bought. Love the Umbria region. Thanks again!

Very neat to the center of Montefalco and very easy to visit this winery. They are open so even without booking you can pop in. They have a beautiful Sagrantino vineyard next to them which is good to see in any season. Tasting is free even and the family is very kind.

It’s a great place for a tasting wine. Linda was so kind with us and taught us very well every wine. I highly recommend this place and their wine is fantastic. They have a special sparkling wine called Clorinda which is great to try even if is not a classic as a Sangrentino. You also must try sangrentino passito, buonissimo 🤌🏻

Enoteca L'Alchimista is a renowned restaurant and wine bar located in Montefalco's main Piazza del Comune. The establishment offers a casual atmosphere and highlights local ingredients and Montefalco wines in its dishes, including seasonal mushrooms, truffles, cured meats, and homemade pastas. The upmarket restaurant is designed like a wine cellar with rows of burgundy-colored bottles lining the walls.
Before our trip I spent considerable time reading reviews and recommendations for restaurants along the way. Enoteca L'Alchimista was "the" restaurant in Montefalco, and I completely agree. Some of the best food we had on our trip. Great helpful staff with wine recommendations too! Try the Sagrantino, don't be afraid! It's excellent!

Six stars. Perfect food and service in the perfect setting! A lot of care, thought, and dedication has gone into a delicious and beautifully presented menu featuring locally produced ingredients and wine. Fantastic and relaxed service, ask for help with the wine selection as they can explain all the local wines on offer to match your food. Definitely book in advance and site outside if it’s summer.

Excellent restaurant, highly recommended! The food is top-notch, everything was incredibly delicious. The wines they recommended paired perfectly with the dishes. The staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. They had no problem adjusting the dishes to be gluten-free. They even have homemade gluten-free pasta – I had it with white truffles, as I visited during the season, and it was some of the best pasta I’ve ever had, because it was homemade and fresh.

Authentic- Delicious- Attentive service. When the mother runs the kitchen you get the best taste and experience. Every time I think Montefalco my minds goes to the delicious menu and vine selection of Alchemists magnetic force. We can’t wait to be back and enjoy dolce vita su la piazza.

Walked in for dinner, as the first ones to arrived, we secured a table for 2 hours. The waitresses are attentive and friendly. The head chef gently greeted us with a smile. The food here is purely sensational. They look beautiful and they taste just like how they look like. I had a special dish utilising the local wild herb which was picked by the chef earlier. What a treat! Feeling This was definitely the highlight of my trip in Umbria. Despite not much vegetarian options on the menu, they are very accommodating to vegetarians by replacing the dish without compromising the flavours.

We had lunch at this restaurant in Montefalco yesterday with my mum and my partner. We had a reservation for 2 PM and sat outside. The experience was truly positive: the staff was extremely kind and attentive, and the dishes were well-prepared and beautifully presented, with top-quality ingredients, many of which were locally sourced. We really appreciated the clarity of flavors, with no excessive salt, as so often happens, and the pairings were interesting and thoughtfully balanced. From the starter to dessert, we enjoyed every course — and I personally felt no heaviness afterwards, which is rare for me as I’m quite sensitive. The wine list is extensive and well-curated, with a nice selection from the region. The only downside was a noisy construction site nearby, but that was just bad luck. We were all very happy with the experience. Highly recommended!

Restaurant
Ristorante alla Via di Mezzo da Giorgione is a charming restaurant located in a former 14th-century olive oil mill, exuding an authentic sense of history with its time-worn stable doors, stone archways, and rustic ceiling beams. The owner, Giorgio Barchiesi, cultivates the vegetables used in the dishes from his own garden.
It is an awesome restaurant that offers the best of Italian cuisine and hospitality. I highly recommend it for the variety in food options, the ambience and the location. TIP: Please note that it is only to be enjoyed with friends not alone.
Kairu — Google review
Not foreigner-friendly. I called to book a table (since online reservations aren’t available), and as a non-Italian speaker, I spoke to the waitress in English to request a reservation. Instead of trying to assist me or finding a colleague who could speak English, she simply replied in Italian and then hung up on me. This level of unprofessionalism is astonishing. Don’t even bother trying. We visited last year, and the booking process was smooth. However, ever since this place became a “TikTok-famous restaurant,” its professionalism has declined drastically.

First of all, this is an experience. I went for lunch. A flat fee with get you a massive appetizer buffet (this place gets very hectic, but… it is frequented by many locals), pasta (chef’s choice) and a meat dish (chef’s choice). Get ready to eat and if you go for lunch don’t make dinner plans unless you’re someone with massive appetite. I had, Appetizers, Pasta with wild boar sauce, Ravioli with cheese and truffles, Guinea fowl, Beef, Dessert I definitely would go again. The experience in itself is something locals seem to really love.

Visiting Ercolani cellar yesterday was a wonderful and unique experience for me and my italian boyfriend!!! This is absolutely the most beautiful cellar and wine tasting tour we've ever seen in our life!!The free tour was guided by Orsolina who explained us the wine process and the magnificent history of the cellar. She is very well prepared, enthusiast and friendly. Each room is absolutely fantastic, filled with lot of precious artefacts across the history. End of the tour, we had a very nice surprise, the wine and local products testing, all incredibly delicious. We could not leave this magic place without buying some wine, oil, pasta and sweets. Thank you for this imcredible experience and we will definitely come back very soon!!!

A wonderful experience with this well-loved Italian chef. The antipasti buffet lets you try a wide variety of delicious foods, followed by tasty pasta and excellent local meats. Giorgione himself even comes to greet his guests and wish them a delicious meal, which makes the evening feel extra special. Absolutely worthwhile.
David D — Google review
I had the pleasure of dining yesterday with a group of 17 friends at the "La via di mezzo" restaurant by Giorgione in Montefalco. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful, and the encounter with Giorgione was a very positive experience: a helpful, kind, and interesting person. The service provided was excellent, without a doubt. The appetizers and first courses were delicious and truly satisfied our palates. However, I must admit that the main courses and desserts did not reach the same level of excellence. An important tip for anyone wishing to visit this restaurant: make a reservation in advance. Given the crowd and popularity, it is crucial to secure a table. In summary, it was a pleasant and rewarding culinary experience. I highly recommend trying out "La via di mezzo" for its unique atmosphere, impeccable service, and quality of dishes.

Very unprofessional place! We called at 12:30 and they didn’t answer. Seeing that the opening hours were ate 13:00 we called after this. In a duration of 3 hours we called the phone number on the website multiple times but still no answer. They didn’t pick up nor didn’t call us back at least responding if was fully booked. When we arrived the place was booked and they didn’t have any more availability. We didn’t see any information about booking days in advance or another way of booking. Also we don’t know how much busy a restaurant can be. If you have a phone number for booking reasons, use it!

Pedestrian food at best. Service excellent. Atmosphere cozy. Two pasta dishes were cold and undercooked. Everything was over salted including the mixed salad.

Eat At This Restaurant! This is one of the best restaurants we've ever had the pleasure to dine, not just in Italy but throughout our travels and in the United States. The food is superb, just delicious and beautifully presented. The restaurant is beautiful. And the service is beyond wonderful. We were greeted so warmly as we stepped inside and that same warmth and attentiveness continued throughout the evening. We saw other diners receive the same excellent service. Temi, our server, was kind and gracious. She helped us navigate the menu and make the right choices for us. We chose a wine flight with our meal and loved tasting the local wines. Honestly, we can't say enough about how perfect the experience was. We ordered the gnocchi, the pasta dish with the seasonal white truffles, then shared the beef dish followed by two desserts, the apple pudding and the chocolate pudding. Just wonderful! Don't miss this restaurant.

The service on the occasions I have been to Locanda has always been excellent., which speaks of their consistency as well as the care they have for their clientele.
