Nestled in the picturesque countryside just a mile from Ingatestone village, Ingatestone Hall is a stunning Tudor mansion that dates back to the mid-16th century. This privately-owned estate boasts an impressive U-shaped design, complete with characteristic stepped gables and ornate chimneys. Visitors can marvel at its original features, including mullioned windows and oak-panelled rooms, while wandering through ten acres of beautifully maintained gardens that include expansive lawns and a charming walled garden.
There was no mention of a cafe on the website, but there was a very elegant cafe with many old portraits hanging on the wall. I was also fascinated by the efficient staff and the delicious cakes. It was interesting to see The two priest holes to conceal Catholic clergy. The "SANS DIEU RIEN" written on the clock tower seems unnatural French.

Very interesting guided tour of the hall, and tea and home made cake to finish the visit. Just be aware there is no picnic area just a field where the cars are parked.

Ingatestone Hall is a Tudor gem that blends grandeur with intimacy. The house, still owned by the Petre family, offers a rich tapestry of history—priest holes, oak-panelled rooms, and centuries of stories brought vividly to life by exceptionally knowledgeable guides. The grounds are serene, with tree-lined walks. The café is a quiet triumph: elegant, portrait-lined, and serving delicious cakes and lunches with impeccable service. It’s rare to find a stately home that feels so personal, and so steeped in character. A hidden treasure.

We had a wonderful tour from Neil today. Very knowledgeable, entertaining and passionate about the House. The cream tea in the cafe was also delightful.
Katie C — Google review
An enchanting.beautiful ancient home, wood paneled throughout, complete with priest holes and connections to the formation of the Church of England and to William Byrd, one of England's finest composers. A splendid tea house and plenty of parking too. Photography inside the house prohibited as it is after all, a family home.

Beautiful 16th century house surrounded by fields. So if you have a dog then this is great place to come and enjoy long walks in number of public rights of ways nearby. The house & grounds are temporarily closed to public and will be opened only from Easter 2022 again. Plenty of parking near by. We definitely will come there again!
Irina S — Google review
Just turned up to have a stroll and was met by the rudest woman with brown hair and glasses. My Mum and I were taken aback by how vile she was. The gates were open and we saw other members of the public walking around the grounds, but all of a sudden a woman appeared from the building and started demanding to know who we are and ordered us to leave because they were apparently filming. We were extremely polite and gracious, it’s a shame she could not meet us with the same attitude. If they are “closed for filming”, why are the gates open? Disgusting, will not return here.

Some really nice field walks down to the estate’s church, stunning countryside views aswell. Great spot for witnessing amazing sunrises, we were working on site for TV production mid October, amazing light! Lots of history to discover here.

Nature & Parks
Weald Country Park, located in Essex, spans over 500 acres of diverse landscapes including woodlands, lakes, meadows, and open grassland. The park is renowned for its rich wildlife, offering opportunities to spot fallow deer, cattle, herons, mallard ducks, and various bird species. Visitors can explore the historic site with remnants of a great hall and formal gardens. The park features a visitor centre with a shop and cafe for refreshments after outdoor adventures.
First visit of many to this beautiful country park. There was ample parking, charged at a reasonable rate and a cafe on site too. Public toilets are dotted about and the ones we used were very clean. Plenty of space to enjoy a picnic and very peaceful. My little girl loved the play areas and the animals.
Samantha D — Google review
I come here frequently for walks and just to have a little bit of peace and it’s the perfect place for it! There’s lots of wildlife to be seen from deers to cows. It is absolutely massive and is such a lovely place to spend time. You can go deep into the woods or you can sit in the open area like many families do. There are toilets there and a little cafe!
Megs — Google review
Stunning area of beauty. Areas like Weald Country Park need to be preserved for future generations. I saw the beautiful lake and the deer enclosure 😍 I didn't get a chance to explore the entire park, but will definitely come back and spend more time here. You have to pay to use the car park
Dhiren M — Google review
We had a wonderful time at Weald Country Park! We followed the Stick Man trail, which my daughter absolutely loved, and she was so excited to feed the ducks and deer with some carrots and apples. The play area is great for kids, and the café was perfect for a little break (the ice cream was a big hit!). We stayed for about 3 hours, enjoyed the fresh air, and took loads of lovely photos. Such a beautiful, family-friendly park with plenty to see and do. 🦆🦌🍦🌳
Ms C — Google review
Spacious and clean, interestingly laid out too. Choice of car park, both of which were well kept and felt safe. Cafe was cozy & welcoming, and posters indicated interesting wildlife talks & walks. We will definitely return, as the place feels like a haven.
Anton G — Google review
The forest walk is very nice and relaxing, a good way escape the Sun's heat in the summer. The forest and surrounding area is big you can encounter horse riding people, runners, dog walkers. There are open fileds for dogs to run around, to play ball games or just enjoy the Sun and have a picnic. You can easily enjoy a few hours here. There are several car parks around all pay and display or use the parking app on your phone. Shame they are paid instead of letting people enjoy nature for free. The main car park at the visitor center is big, here you'll find toilets and a caferia with food. To Brentwood center by car is less then 10 minutes drive or you can do a walkof aproximately 40-50 minutes. There is no direct access to the A12 from the park.
Daniel A — Google review
Beautiful park. Has loads to offer all year round. Has 3 car parks, as well as large open spaces, forest, playground, loads of dear and other wild life, lake and fishing is allowed. Great place for meetups, runs, walks, kite flying, bike ridding, picnics, taking photos, family day out and much more. Has cafe with great staff and food. Toilet are near the cafe, could do with some at the top end and the ones near the cricket ground could do with doing up and opening. Great place for the family and kids. There's talk that the cafe may closed, hope this is not the case and it's kept open. It would be a great loss to the park and the people that visit.

Outdoor Activities
Old MacDonald's Farm & Fun Park is a charming and quaint farm that offers more than just the usual petting zoo experience. It features a variety of animal-themed fairground rides, including a rollercoaster, as well as animatronic shows and indoor and outdoor play areas. In addition to classic farm animals like goats, donkeys, and pigs, visitors can also meet alpacas, wallabies, owls, and other exotic creatures.
We visited Old MacDonald’s Farm with our two children (aged 4 and 2), and it was such a fantastic day out! The last time we came was just before my son turned one, and he was a little too young to appreciate the full experience, so I can honestly say the experience this time was so much better. Both kids absolutely loved the rides – which I think is one of the best things about this farm. You don’t just get to see and interact with the animals (which they also enjoyed), but there are so many rides (some of which are even suitable for babies) and outdoor play areas that kept them fully engaged. It really does offer something for everyone. There were plenty of opportunities to meet the animals (we did the rabbit encounter), and we were lucky to catch the summer circus too – my children really enjoyed that. The staff stood out as well; everyone we met was so kind and friendly, which made the experience even nicer. On top of that, there are indoor soft play areas for rainy days, but we had sunny, warm weather so the kids made the most of the outdoor climbing frames and slides. We visited from 10am until 3pm, but honestly, you could easily spend the whole day here until closing. My tip would be to arrive early: start with the animals and then move on to the rides once they open at 11am. A brilliant family day out – we’ll definitely be back!
Suraiya T — Google review
Fantastic day out with toddlers. If you can on a weekday in term time you can go on all the rides multiple times as practically no queues! The set up is also very walkable with animals and rides and playgrounds interspersed ergonomically. They have a great variety of animals who seem happy and healthy. It's a little pricey, but it feels worth it to give money to a nice farm. I wish their food options were healthier - especially the snacks (having some fruit on offer for the kids would be helpful!)
Ropita R — Google review
We visited as a family with our three girls and had such a fantastic day! There was so much to do — from seeing the animals to enjoying the rides and fun activities. Everything was really well organised, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The girls especially loved the pumpkin patch and all the little details that made the day extra special. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon! 🎃🐮
Reiss W — Google review
Incredible place Got there at 10:30am and received an informative welcome from reception I was happily surprised that it was not very busy . I was apprehensive about how many rides my daughter who is nearly two could go on and yet out of everything available she only missed out on 5 attractions. I love how detailed the park was and that there was just so many things to keep kids entertained for hours . Cafe was really good with large portions of food that was not salty but full of flavour. Staff loved interacting with the kids ,were really polite ,enthusiastic and took pride in their jobs. Overall Very very good value for the money and 100% worth it Will be definitely visiting again hopefully with a party of family members.
Astaire A — Google review
This is a fantastic place to bring your child! My little one is under 2 years old, so the free admission is a big plus. Everything is well organized, and there's the convenience of being able to eat inside. As expected from places like this, the food is more on the quick side, but it's surprisingly tasty. I've visited twice already and will definitely be coming back. One of the standout attractions is the circus – it’s a wonderful source of entertainment for both kids and adults alike. I recommend this place !
Chris M — Google review
A complete package of thrill, fun and exploration for the little explorers. The farm themed park has a lot to offer starting with family friendly yet thrill rides that little ones can’t simply resist. My little one enjoyed doing the happy horses, train ride and crazy barnyard ride - of of them couple of times. It has got a decent softplay area too right at the entrance, along side the cafe and icecream bars. The animated shows run throughout the day at the show barns and the adventure playgrounds are quite massive and located at the centre of the park. There’s one little explorers playground as well with lots or animal sheds nearby offering seating areas. My little daughter couldn’t only do the doggy roller coaster as the ride closed at 4pm only strictly, but for next time sure. We had an unmissable and unforgettable adventure time her in this park in Brentwood, for sure.

Returned for our annual.years Halloween visit. Bit disappointed to find the Halloween walk through bit was closed off however realised upon checking that we were a day early. Decided to make the most of it and enjoy the rides. Took some really lovely Halloween photos of my girls lots of perfect back drops and props available throughout the park Staff were lovely especially the man on the train ride. Staff on both coffee stations were friendly and my daughter's both enjoyed a delicious custom made hot chocolates in after eight and unicorn. Animals looked happy and with plenty of space to roam around. It was lovely to see the pig foraging for plants and eating on the grass. Two lovely carousels, a rollercoaster and several other rides plus the staff make this place a really fun day out for all the family We will return
Ellie K — Google review
Lovely day out, we visited Old McDonald Farm with the kids to experience the Halloween Festival, we have been coming here for years but not on Halloween . Brilliant day, so nice to visit a park with just an entry fee and when you enter all rides are included, shows and activities, no hidden extras. Kids had a brilliant day, even the adults too, the kids also received a free pumpkin each. Some of the children in our family were sick, the staff at Old MacDonald Farm were brilliant - even offered to move to a different day so the kids don’t miss out (for a small fee) . Well done Old MacDonald Farm, we will definitely be coming back again !!!!

Museum
Brentwood Museum is a small but charming attraction located at the lodge of an old cemetery, now transformed into a nature reserve. It offers insights into domestic and social history in Brentwood from 1840 to 1970. The museum is run by knowledgeable volunteers and showcases interesting historical exhibits. Although it was closed during the COVID outbreak, it's worth visiting when open on weekends in the summer to explore its collection of local history items and stories.
For such a small museum it is full of objects and local history. It was definitely a walk down memory lane for my friends and I. The Volunteers we met gave us some of the history of the museum and answered questions. By prior arrangement, the museum and cemetery were opened specially for us. I recommend this for any group as there’s not much space in each room.

This is an interesting place tucked away behind some flats. There is a lot of history here. It's an open cemetery with the Brentwood museum at the side of the cemetery. Respectfully maintained and some interesting historical facts and value

Just a note as a museum volunteer - I've asked a number of times for the address to be changed... but to avoid confusion our address is LORNE ROAD CEMETERY, LORNE ROAD, WARLEY, BRENTWOOD. Not Warley Hill! Lorne road is near 116 Warley Hill!

Established in 1983, this non-profit rescue center provides a safe haven for over 500 mistreated and unwanted animals, including donkeys, alpacas, marmosets, reindeer, horses, goats, sheep, ducks, reptiles, rabbits and cats.
Great place to visit. Definitely recommend coming here. Staff are super friendly. Would be nice to have a few more toilets on site for when it gets busy. Overall it’s a great farm. Glad we came for my partner’s birthday

Highly recommended and definitely worth a visit. Accessibility is great for car parking and for the animals. Plenty of areas to sit and have something to eat too. Animals are great and engaging ! Can't believe a horse came up to me for the first time ever and allowed me to touch it ! Well maintained grounds and plenty of hand washing areas. I'd definitely return !

We visited Hopefield Sanctuary yesterday with the kids, and it was such a lovely day out. A lot has changed since I last came two years ago — all for the better! It was heartwarming to see how well the animals are cared for. The rescued horses, in particular, were so friendly and confident around people, which says so much about the love and attention they receive. The children had a fantastic time meeting all the animals and exploring the sanctuary. It’s such a peaceful, welcoming place, and you can tell how much the team truly cares about their work. Highly recommend for families or anyone who wants to support a great cause while spending time with some beautiful animals.❤️

We love Hopefield! This is the third year in a row we visit and it has become our favourite tradition. This year they went above and beyond for Halloween! Guys, you've outdone yourselves, the Spooky Barn was amazing!!!! The staff is always friendly and approachable too. My favourite thing is seeing all our favourite animals🥹 my favourite is Millie, the blind sheep, made me cry, wish I could sponsor her😭 thank you Hopefield for giving these animals a chance to live a happy life 🥹 Also love Maxs cafe, so refreshing to not have to worry and triple check that the food you're ordering is vegan! We will be back next year🥰

My family, friends and l visited yesterday for the very first time and l absolutely loved the place, and all it stands for. Of course the animals were so very well cared for! I’m still so surprised at just how big the cows are and how beautiful golden pheasants are 😯😍 It was very reasonably priced day out with lots of activities to keep the children busy, without having to put your hand in your pocket every time the children went on a ride. I am so pleased to of put my money towards such a worthy cause. 😊
Angie B — Google review
This is a lovely animal sanctuary with so much for little ones (and their grown ups!) to enjoy. We visit regularly and try to attend most of the family days which are excellent value and rides, entertainment etc. are all included in the entrance fee with the added benefit of knowing your payment is helping rescue and care for their animals unlike many of the commercial overpriced fairs and activity parks. The cafe serves vegetarian food but plenty to choose from and decent coffee. Lots of picnic areas too. Keep up the great work Hopefield!

Seafood restaurant
Alec's Restaurant is located on the outskirts of Brentwood, amidst Essex's lush countryside. The spacious rooms of a former pub provide a cozy setting with real fires. This award-winning restaurant offers a star-studded menu featuring an array of seafood dishes such as jumbo prawns, lobster thermidor, and king scallops. The establishment has gained an excellent reputation for its great food and service, with standout dishes like soft-shell crab with seaweed mayonnaise and slow-roasted pork belly.
We booked for a Friday evening was made to feel very welcomed as soon as we arrived. Although a bit of a mix up with the wine we requested at first it was rectified immediately with a De Martino Chilean Merlot, smooth, rich, blood red and extremely drinkable. The service was extremely slick but not overbearing, warm and friendly as if we had been regulars. The bread, which was warm and crusty, was great and we could have just sat and ate that all night, (it’s a bread thing). No starters for us as we prefer just a main and dessert. OH had scallops & prawns with a Thermidor sauce, (which was presented in a Mauviel pan, gorgeous in its own right), I had Guernsey skate with brown butter & capers, both beautifully cooked and well seasoned. We had dauphinois potatoes which was the best we’ve ever had in a restaurant, really thick cheesy and creamy and savoy cabbage with bacon. For dessert I had the sumptuous brioche bread & butter pudding, with a light vanilla custard, OH had the special which was profiteroles. When it came, it was huge single profiteroles with a salted caramel ice cream. He just about finished it. We have never visited before and based on that visit we will be happy to return. Would recommend to anyone who loves beautifully cooked, well presented food and the service to back it up. Compliments to both the chef and service.

We were there as a party of 10 to celebrate a birthday. Food was excellent - I had the fried squid - batter was light, followed by the skate which was delicate and cooked to perfection. My husband had the lobster soup and salmon, both were absolutely delicious! Enjoyed the pairing of flavours, well balanced and well executed. Staff were attentive without being overbearing, our server in particular was just lovely and really made it a memorable lunch!

We came to celebrate our anniversary and had such a perfect and special experience. The restaurant is stunning, we were seated at a very cosy corner with a sofa and cushions, and the decor was gorgeous. The staff were super lovely, we were looked after by Izzy and Chloe who were so amazing, friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious - we had the sticky beef and soft shell crab tempura for starters and for mains we had the pork belly and scallops and prawns, as well as sides of carrots and green beans, finishing with a tiramisu. Everything was cooked to perfection, the ingredients were fresh and seasoned just right. We were also given complimentary drinks, canapés and an anniversary message dessert. We can't wait to come back again and bring our friends!

We booked at Alec's to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary! It was first time there, but definitely we'll go back again. The food was awesome, delicious. The staff was very friendly, especially our server Izzy. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful sunset view! Thank you for making our evening so special! From Lilia and Eugeniu.

What can I say but wow… From the moment we entered we felt ever so welcome , the staff were attentive helpful and lovely…. We decided to go to Alec’s as we finally got an evening away from all our children and it was amazing, the food was beautiful and tasted amazing.. We arrived and were greeted by friendly hosts and was seated to our amazing comfy booth, the staff wasn’t in rush to make us decide on our orders , we had a long look at the wine list and ordered Albariño, for starters we ordered tiger prawns with garlic chilli paprika and lime , the sauce in the bottom was really tasty with the bread and the prawns were on point, We decided to go for fillet and lobster and it didn’t disappoint , I went for mine rare I tried my partners and she absolutely killed it by going well done (although she thoroughly enjoyed it) . We got a few sides of green beans , cabbage with bacon , carrots and fries. All the sides were seasoned very well and I liked the cabbage with bacon it was in a creamy base I normally use honey with mine but it was delicious so will definitely try something like this my self….

My friend and I decided on Alec's as it was relatively local and looked like it would be lovely for a lunch and chit chat. The food was spectacular as aesthetically appealing as it was delicious. The staff were so friendly, attentive and accommodating. It wasnt so busy when we went and there was no entertainment/music, but that did meanmy friendand I could yap away with ease. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would certainly return. Highly recommend!

The food demonstrated good quality and presentation. Very attentive and friendly service. Only thing that detracted was another customer's industrial language during our meal.

We recently went to Alec’s Restaurant Bar & Grill in Navestock Side near Brentwood for a garden party, and it was absolutely excellent! The venue is contemporary and stylish, perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. The food was outstanding – so much of it, beautifully prepared, and everything tasted amazing. We were especially impressed that we could even choose three different desserts from the menu to try, which was such a treat! The portions were very generous at every stage – from pre-starters to starters, mains, and desserts – nobody left hungry. The service was excellent too: friendly, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. The staff really made us feel welcome and well looked after. Adding to the experience was the lovely live music, which created a warm and inviting atmosphere. Overall, we were very impressed. Alec’s is the perfect mix of delicious food, top-class service, and a stylish setting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Essex.

We booked an early lunch here on route to Yarmouth. After ordering our meal we sat down to wait and were then told that there would be a delay as the dauphinoise potatoes had only just gone in the oven, but would we like some olives while we waited. We were then brought out, not only delicious olives with sun dried tomatoes, but also toasted sourdough bread with butter and sauces to spread on them by way of apology for keeping us waiting (shown in one of the photos) What superb service! The rest of the meal when it came was absolutely delicious and value for money and we left very full up and happy! Thank you for superb customer service, we'll definitely return if we head that way again!

Service was great from the very beginning! The food was really good. We had the trio Sunday roast and everything was fresh and good quality. Just the cauliflower cheese wasn’t as expected, but when we mentioned it, Oscar removed it from the bill! Oscar was really helpful and always around to anything we needed! The sticky toffee pudding with ginger biscuit ice cream, recommended by him, was super yummy.

Myself and two friends booked a bottomless bubbles brunch for a 50th birthday celebration. It was our first time here, and we couldn’t fault it. The food was delicious and our server, Maddie, was excellent, professional and attentive. The brunch deal was brilliant value, two courses plus unlimited drinks for 90 minutes. I’ve been on a few of these brunch deals before to various places and this one was far and away the best. Our glasses were never empty, and there were several choices of drinks. We would definitely return and highly recommend it.

Been here a few times, and always been pretty good. However, this evening, the Kormas we got were extremely bland in flavour and the chicken was dry. I called, and explained the situation and there was no offer to cook a fresh Korma, or refund anything. The only 'compensation' I would get would be discount if I was to come again, but why would I after the bland Korma? Very disappointed, as I've had a lot of deliveries, plus sat in a few times with 6+ people. I won't be returning.

Myself and my family eat here weekly, and it’s always a lovely meal. We had a large table tonight, about 15 of us and we were served quickly, everything came up perfect and food was delicious. Service in here is great, staff are very friendly and always ready to assist. Highly recommend 😊

This place was great and the food was very tasty. We went as a group of 14 of us and the staff took good care of us and were really friendly! The interior decor and atmosphere was really nice considering it qas expensive to eat here. Considering we had starters mains and drinks it worked out around £15 per head. Would definitely go back again!

Nestled in a half-timbered Tudor manor, Marygreen Manor Hotel offers comfortable rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel features an award-winning restaurant serving modern British cuisine and traditional afternoon tea with a selection of sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. Conveniently located near Brentwood Train Station and major road junctions, the historic property provides free parking and 24-hour room service.
The only reason we are giving this hotel 5 stars is because we cannot give it more. It is absolutely superb. We had our wedding there on the advice of a friend and it was faultless. The food was excellent, the service was superb, the rooms were top class but it was the staff who really made the place. They were friendly and incredibly efficient. The building was built in 1512 with some more recent additions and is very interesting in itself and has a lovely enclosed garden. All of our guests agreed with us that this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. This place is at the top of its game.

I recently attended a baby shower at this hotel with a group of about 18 people. We were served only four cream tea stands between all of us, with no refills on the sandwiches and an overwhelming number of cakes. There wasn't even a drop of prosecco included. Despite this limited offering, we were charged £27.50 per person—meaning each cake stand effectively cost £125. The room cost £200 to hire and prosecco started at £30 a bottle. While the venue itself was lovely and the service was good, I would caution anyone considering this place: it does not offer good value for money.

Had an evening meal "a la carte" last night. It was fairly expensive at nearly £130 for two people for two courses. Service was not great. Food was visually OK, but quite small portions with items forgotten from our plate, and we required side orders... of course, at extra charge. OK, taste-wise, but nothing that couldn't be cooked at home without too much trouble. Halfway through our meal, the air-con was switched on... right behind us... which made us cold and uncomfortable. Considering the cost, not impressed and probably would not eat there again. Welcoming hotel, though, and a good location.

My daughter and her now husband recently got married here and everyone was talking about how good the wedding was organised and what a great service all the staff gave. The only criticism I would have is the mattresses on the beds. My husband and I had a very uncomfortable night and at breakfast the next morning, that was the only thing the other guests, who stayed, were complaining about. Wonderful venue, wonderful attentive staff, the room was lovely and the wedding food and breakfast couldn't be faulted. But the mattresses marred an otherwise perfect weekend.

This is a Tudor manor house with rooms that open out onto a peaceful and well-kept garden, creating a relaxing environment. Both the lounge and dining menus are very good and reasonably priced. Be aware though, that it can become a little loud on a Friday or Saturday evening.

A lovely olde world hotel on the outskirts of Brentwood and a 5 minute drive from the M25. Originally a 13th century manor house it remains the charms of its historic past. Lovely secluded gardens, stunning restaurant setting and comfortable beds. Friendly service and cosy ambience with a bright and attractive conservatory.

Nice hotel. Electric sockets did work, only one open and it did not function. The shower would not come on no matter what we did. Called the front desk and the man who answered couldn’t have cared less. We are visiting from the US. This hotel is very disappointing. Too bad

We booked to stay here as a quick break after a day at the horses From the first initial meeting with reception we were instantly looked down on. We had prepaid for our room asked if we wanted a tab which we agreed to, we then booked for dinner at 7.15pm had dinner which was OK then asked what room We were in we then stated the room number. Went back to our room then one of the mangers then knocked and asked us to pay our bill even though we had a room and tab. The following morning we went to go for breakfast, no one at reception we walked round the breakfast waiter looked us up and down then said we didnt have breakfast even though again this was confirmed on check in. The overall attitude toward us throughout our experience is that we were lower class. We have stayed in 100's hotels and have never been made to feel like this absolutely appalled. I run a local business myself and wouldn't dream of ever making someone feel so uncomfortable

Turkish restaurant
The Fat Turk in Brentwood offers a unique dining experience with its contemporary, well-lit dining room and patio tables. It's a converted pub that has become one of the top spots for savoring traditional Turkish cuisine in Essex. The restaurant also provides private dining experiences for those seeking something special. In addition to great food, Brentwood offers family-friendly activities such as shows at the Brentwood Theatre, art classes at a local gallery, and music production experience at an arts center.
We visited the Fat Turk on a lazy late Friday afternoon. The place was busy, we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. The staff are extremely polite, helpful, and very tentative. The service is quick but gives you enough time to have a good conversation (if you know what I mean). The food was very tasty. For our starters we had the Humus (8.5/10), sujuk (10/10), and the bread (10/10).. for our mains we had the lamb kofte durum (8.5/10) and the lamb beti (10/10). All of these hit the spot! For desserts we got a Baklava to share (9/10). So overall it was a great experience and one I would definitely revisit.

Service and ambience were great. Lamb chops tender, juicy and delicious. Lamb sis tasty but a bit tough. Kalamar was yummy. Really liked the bread that came with our food. Bit on the pricey side but worth it.

I went to Fat Turk for Dinner. Positive points. Nice sitting place, welcoming staff, adequate parking available, clean toilets, good ambiance. Good quantity food. Negative points. Price is towards the higher side. Order took more than 45 minutes. Food was fine not great and not delicious as I was expecting it to be. I will not recommend the burger as it was very dry and didn't have any taste at all.. Other two dishes were better. Not recommended as there are plenty of Turkish restaurant nearby with much nice taste and reasonably priced menu. I was bit disappointed in the end.

We had a fantastic meal with friends to celebrate two friend’s birthday. The restaurant made a lovely effort with deserts and candles. The bar upstairs is also lovely.

Great experience, the restaurant has a very classy feel and we were welcomed very warmly by staff. We opted for the surf and turf share platter which was out of this world, the meat was top quality and cooked to perfection, the platter also coming with a range of sides to completment the vast meat selection! Beer and wine was excellent and the atmosphere was good even though it was quite an early Wednesday dinner sitting. Highly recommend Turkish in Essex and I shall definitely be returning to the fat turk !

Very average. Food was ok, chicken a bit overcooked but not the worst. Service was ok. Atmosphere was ok ish. Eyna in Basildon is superior in every way, which has kind of ruined all other Turkish restaurants for me, ever since I first went there. 🤣🤣

Food was amazingly delicious. Portion is pretty good. Obviously it's pricey, but really worth to try it out. Once you get your food, it's hard to get hold of the waitress. But overall it was pretty good experience. On the other hand, it was super noisy and loud so I could hardly hear my wife sitting 20cm next to me and we were seated next to grill so it was too hot for me. If you desire a better place to sit, then I recommend to pre-book it.
