Historic church that has undergone several restorations, in the centre of Ventimiglia Alta. Beautifully built and designed, inside and out, and also hosts a small and very old Baptistery beneath. Free to enter and look around.

Very quiet but awesome interior. The exterior street, buildings, is very unappealing, the area is a falling apart mess. Facades crumbling, exposed rebar, ugly. The streets are tiny but deserted, just a few shops about, folks hanging around, smoking. But do go inside the church. The very rough stone exposed, dirty, crumbling mortar, showing its age and its shear mass. Nothing spectacular but a little grace in an otherwise mundane little Italian town. Folks were here long, long ago and they spent a lot of effort (time, money) to make something that will last. They was no compromise, each rock, each stone, cut, worked, levered and lifted, clamped, mortared...move on. Hard to find anybody doing that anywhere, anymore.

Really fascinating place to visit. A little rough around the edges but once you’re away from the main streets the place seems largely untouched by tourism. The church is beautiful, with the remains of a Roman chapel beneath.

Super variety and quality of seasonal fruit and veg on display at reasonable prices. Great bakery at rhs of main entrance. Recommended.

Extensive selection of fruits, vegetables, honey, and other locally grown items. The flower stalls of the various vendors were stunning. The public toilets were clean.

Ok, today I'm in Ventimiglia. I can't miss one of the emblematic establishments in the city - "Pasta & Basta". The service, like in most places in this region, is at a very good level. The waitress speaks perfect English, French and of course Italian. …… OOOO THE FOOD ….. is unique. I simply have no words to describe this experience. Large portions! Well presented & SUPER, SUPER DELICIOUS. A restaurant that must be visited when you are in Ventimiglia😉!

I am happy that we went here. I was scared because of the bad review that I read. I was absolutely stunned by the lady (owner) she was absolutely friendly, helped me to find a dish for my child with allergies and the food tasted amazing. It was our best experience in Ventemiglia so far when it comes to Restaurants. Amazing! :) I am happy that we came here. The picture is the food that I ordered for my child, the other dish I unfortunatelly did not make a picture of but it tasted very good! The card has a lot of options for everyone.

Amazing food. The fresh pasta servings are very generous. The servers were fantastic. Highly recomend the buffalo mozzarella with black truffle shavings as a start. The choice of sauces and fresh pasta are top notch. Highly recommend. Price is very reasonable expect $100 EU per 2 people. Including cocktails wine appetizers and desert. This is a gem of a restaurant!

We came all the way from Nice to get real Italian pasta and OMG this place did not disappoint. Some of the best pasta we have ever had and the tiramisu was delicious 🤤 We did it family style, got a few different pastas and shared everything. The serving sizes are very large and made for sharing.

If you’re in the village and want to have a solid affordable lunch, this is THE place! Pasta with mushrooms and foie gras and the lobster pasta are my favorites! Been here a few times over the years and always enjoyed myself!

I had high hopes for the lobster pasta — it looked stunning, definitely Instagram-worthy. Unfortunately, the taste did not match the presentation. The dish came with an empty lobster shell, which felt more like decoration than substance. The pieces of lobster mixed into the pasta lacked any real lobster flavor, which was disappointing. In fact, the overall taste reminded me more of a standard pasta Bolognese than anything seafood-related. Visually impressive, but seriously lacking in flavor.

Food is great but not followed by service and location. Experience not worth the price. Group of 6 we were forced to take all the same menu, not to change any plate unless all table was changing it, and bread was actually finished by the time we started to eat… location basically inside a parking lot. Not a prime experience

An experience will not be repeated, fast food can be one of the best. What is the relation of mushroom with ragu ?! Among other things, the sauce was not cooked well and half the raw pulp was wrong. I would recommend "Restaurant La Caravella" for lunch. Because the waiters here are very polite and the food is very tasty. And here the table is available according to the demand.

I was so excited to try this place because it was recommended but unfortunately I didn't like it. My gnocchi sauce had tick, lobster, salinity and deficiency levels. It was as if they had just dropped a bunch of cheese on it and that was it. Excessive cost and frustrating

I had dinner at this restaurant with my girlfriend and we were very disappointed. At first my girlfriend (who was not very hungry) just ordered a tuna prayer and the waitress (false blonde with obscene attitude and presentation) was not satisfied because she wanted us to order more. I ordered an Arabiata pasta for myself and it was full of oil. And finally a few slices of bread that we didn't order cost an extra 4 euros. Trust us it is a tourist trap. I would recommend "Ristorante La Caravella" for dinner. . Tables are available here as per demand. And because the waiters here are very polite and the food is very tasty

I had an amazing time at this restaurant! The service was impeccable, and the staff was attentive and friendly. The food struck a perfect balance between presentation and taste – each dish looked stunning and tasted even better. The ambiance was just right, with great music and lovely table lamps, and the staff was non-judgmental even when we showed up in swimwear. The only slight letdown was that the rose wine didn't quite suit my parents' palate, but taste preferences can vary. Despite that, I'm giving it 5 stars for the exceptional service, delectable food, and delightful ambiance.

linguine pasta with seafood reduced juice that I took for a starter was absolutely amazing. Shame for my main dish of a day: small chicken with local veggies for 29e. I was very excited until I got 1/3rd of a chicken with half of tomato 😂 like really ?? See for yourself. Please improve.

Excellent octopus risotto, which I've never tasted before. All the dishes were beautifully presented, with good flavours and interesting combinations. The desserts were excellent also, always a good sign. We will definitely be back!

I was shocked by the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff during my recent visit. I arrived with my two toddlers to join my family, who had already been seated for 20–30 minutes. I was holding a sandwich that my children were eating during our walk through the Friday Market. As I approached the table next to my family, the waiter abruptly told me the table was reserved—in a very disrespectful tone. The restaurant was nearly empty at the time. When I responded with surprise, he replied, “Yes, really!”—again, very rudely. I decided not to stay for lunch due to his attitude and told my family I was leaving. As I walked out, the waiter began saying things in Italian I couldn’t understand. I told him, “Shame on you, this is not how you treat people.” Another waiter then approached and told me I couldn’t enter the restaurant holding a kebab sandwich. I explained that a polite request to put it away would’ve been fine. His response? “Just leave.” Then the first waiter came back and shut the door in my face while I was speaking with my family. This was a completely unacceptable and disrespectful experience. It left a terrible impression and I won’t be returning.

The Ligurian town of Ventimiglia is situated on the coast of the Gulf of Genoa just about 4 miles before the French border. I ate recently in a restaurant on the seafront, called, Marco Polo. It was an alpine chalet style building decorated with a maritime theme with a terrace overlooking the sea which would be perfect for summer eating. The Michelin guide 2017 gives it a good rating (The Michelin Plate) and overall my impression was of good food beautifully presented. The whole experience however wasn’t perfect by any means. The welcome was friendly and we were given the last available table for lunch. We weren’t offered drinks to start so we insisted that we wanted a glass of prosecco each. The waiter didn’t seem to understand this simple request but eventually by speaking a mixture of French, English and Italian the message was conveyed. The prosecco failed to arrive so it was necessary to prompt another waiter. This precipitated the start of a blame game between two members of staff. In the meantime an amuse bouche was served. It was a shallow drinking glass with something akin to caesar dressing in the bottom and a few fresh, crisp salad leaves and a carrot button standing in it. It looked faintly odd but in fact was a refreshing way to start the meal – something I might copy at home. The prosecco eventually arrived… For my starter I had fresh anchovies that had been coated in chopped hazlenuts and then deep fried and served with crisp purple artichokes, thin slivers of lemon and orange peel and coleslaw. It was fresh tasting with a pleasing citrus zing to it. The main course was Lobster with pan-fried fresh foie gras. Now these are two of my favourite things and in this instance they were very well cooked and presented, being served with crispy slivers of deep-fried sweet potatoes and a few spinach leaves. Delicious and colourful! Whilst the food was lovely there is something strange about how the place is run. In short it doesn’t seem like a happy ship and that can spoil the entire effect. At one point an almighty argument broke out in the kitchen which could be clearly heard throughout the room we were in. Those with better Italian than I, described the language as being very colourful indeed. None of the waiting staff looked shocked by this so I can only assume its a fairly regular occurrence. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing staff. Easily one of the best restaurants.

Very nice and clean with a great selection of Mediterranean Italian food. The initial appetizers were generous portions. The best calamari frita I've had, very light breading, it was perfect. They don't have a marinara sauce, but other than that it was fantastic.

We were made to feel welcome and comfortable. We had 2 glasses Franciacorta for aperitif. Pintxos, mixed starters, we actually shared this, and they were delicious. Spaghetti with yellow cherry tomato sauce and tuna tatare, unusual and very good. Grilled Turbot on fennel cream and fresh salad. Fish perfectly cooked, and the salad was well dressed , with interesting flavours and textures, including crispy crumble bits. Desserts, we had a strawberry and mint crumble tart and an indulgent chocolate and coffee tart, both very good, melt in the mouth and tasty. I may have the description wrong on the desserts, but photos included. Bottle of Pigato, local white wine, which was excellent Water and coffee A delightful anniversary lunch.

We have been staying in Ventimiglia for a wedding for the last few days. The food across Ventimiglia has been wonderful. This restaurant is by far the nicest steak and chips I’ve ever had anywhere in Europe. I would go one step further to say this is the best steak and chips I’ve ever had ever. I will return to Ventimiglia every year on the same day to have the steak and chips. Unfortunately, my friend Simeon couldn’t make it and he will regret not being able to enjoy the steak and chips for the rest of his life. Honestly thank you restaurant Margunaira for letting us in even tho you where almost closed, great service and wonderful view across the seas.

Superb little restaurant with lovely interior decoration. The menu is quite small in selection, but the food itself is absolutely delicious. Loved the pasta with shells. If you search for fresh seafood, this is the place to go. Also the tiramisu was very yummy. A reservation is btw. recommended, since the space inside is rather limited. We've been positively surprised by the good house wine. Prices are in our opinion totally fair. The service was quick and friendly. We felt well here.

Nice place right on the beach. Food good, service good. Nice atmosphere. There is a little pond with Terrapins in with was nice and the kids liked it. Very nice Italian ice cream. Parking can be a bit tight on the road side and a bit of a walk if the beach is busy, but it was nice. I would recommend if nearby.

I've been here several times now and I think it's the best restaurant in the area. Fantastic location on the sea, excellent service and very friendly people. And the most important the food is superb!! Especially the taste of the mussels. You must try!! :-)

Right in front of a public beach with the reassuring noise of the sea, both the interior and the exterior are curated yet simple and overall the vibes are those of a seaside bar. Service: Great! The service is quick, polite and well prepared. The waitress that accompanied us on our "culinary journey" had a very deep knowledge of the dishes and the surrounding territory. Food: Great, with a clear seafood focus! This is the second time we dine at "Da Daniele" and the food might have been even better than the first time. Indeed this week they sourced some very large and juicy "Gamberi di Sanremo", a type of prawns that is fished in the western Ligurian sea, and we had them both as appetizer and on the pasta. Price: Very Good, in line with the amazing quality of the ingredients and the great job the kitchen does. A seafood dinner for two, and we both eat a lot, sits between 100 and 150 eur, wine included. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location: Buona, ma nulla di estremamente ricercato. Really cozy ambiance. Very well cooked fresh fish. The tuna tartare is amazing. Good selection of wines. Sciac trà rosé is my favourite. Honests prices for the quality that they offer. All the waiters all gentle and take care of their guests. Really of of the best restaurants not only in Ventimiglia but in the all province of Imperia. Go definitely there.
