Country park
Yeovil Country Park is a stunning 127-acre countryside park boasting diverse landscapes and walking paths. Its captivating woodlands, waterfalls, meadow pastures, and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside create an almost enchanting atmosphere. This hidden gem offers scenic beauty at every corner, with mini waterfalls, ponds, streams, and stone features adding to its charm. It is a popular destination for both nature lovers and dog walkers alike.
I don't think I've ever seen a prettier piece of countryside! So, at the tender age of 43, my mummy finally let me go out and play on my own (yes, that is a joke, I'm perfectly capable of ruining my own life...). I'd built a 2 day holiday around staying in Sparkford which is but 10 minutes away from Yeovil Country Park. As I had driven early doors to avoid the tarmac t*&ts, and failing miserably, I decided on the Country Park having read some fabulous reviews....they're not wrong you know! The only let down was my shocking......and I do mean effing terrible sense of direction. I had planned on a 2 hour walk to get me in the country spirit......5 hours and 20km later (though this did include a wee trip to Yeovil Railway Centre), I think I have been scratched and torn apart by no less that 14 billion types of flora in the Yeovil Country Park and surrounding area...my waterproof bag is no longer waterproof, my tee shirt now looks fashionable and my feet have learned to swear at my body in no less than 7 languages. Please go to this place, it is immensely beautiful and you simply MUST see it before it becomes a housing estate.....would also help if you know someone who knows the area....

A fairly small park located along the river with plenty of activities and play areas. For me the walk up the springs lakes is lovely and I'm not certain I've seen such a pretty cascade of waterfalls each from it's own little stone built lake

Best Park I've visited in a long time. Clean, reasonably priced cafe (raspberry and coconut slice was £2), toilets next to the cafe. Great play area. Play equipment all working and sand was clean. 2 hours free parking at the car park off of Addlewell Lane but we parked in Goldenstones Pay and display car park which was £3.60 for all day which is still good value. Dog free nature area. Took our dog to do the walk around the springs which were beautiful.
A L — Google review
Lovely walk with the dog through this large sprawling park. Clearly marked trails help you not to get lost. Lovely scenery and well looked after. Public toilets available near car park.
Dave F — Google review
Almost magical. With idyllic scenary and views around every corner and turn with mini waterfalls, woods, ponds, streams and stone features. Great for walking and fresh air. Popular for friendly dog walkers as well. Great all round.
Matthew K — Google review
Amazing little find just in Yeovil. We took a picnic but there is a small place by care park to buy sandwiches and drinks. There are also toilets you can use. Parking cost £2.15 for 2.5 hours. Definitely worth a visit, you can dogs as well but must be kept on the lead.
Lynne-Marie W — Google review
It is a nice family-friendly and pet friendly park. I think a few extra benches on the pathway along the waterway would be nice. Otherwise, I think it is a nice place to get into nature.

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
The Octagon Theatre in Yeovil offers a diverse range of entertainment, including drama, dance, musicals, and visual arts exhibitions. Located just a short drive from Yeovil, it provides an opportunity to enjoy live performances and cultural experiences. The venue is well-maintained with efficient services and clean facilities. Families can also find nearby attractions such as the Somerset Reindeer Ranch for an up-close encounter with real reindeers or head to Yeovil Bowling for some family fun.
A great theatre with a large stage and staggered seating so everywhere is a good place to sit! We watched Mother Goose and the actors alongside the musicians were brilliant. Very easy to order E-tickets on their website. Something for everyone! Highly recommend.
Amy V — Google review
Good access and free evening parking. Lift available. Plenty of space and seated areas in the bar. Theatre seating well designed as no blind spots or restricted viewing. Very helpful and friendly staff. Air con needs to be more efficient when a full house in sitting.
Jo D — Google review
Our second annual pilgrimage to Yeovil. As always great fun, really entertaining and would recommend to all to experience a show here
Simon W — Google review
Well laid out and extremely clean theatre. We had never visited before and were slightly anxious due to Covid19. Patrons were encouraged to wear masks but this was not heavily pressed. Bar areas were busy but efficient service and clearing on tables enabled us to sit down for a pre presentation drink and ice cream. The air conditioning was good and we were not “overheated” at any point. Toilets were extremely clean. Car park adjacent to the theatre which is free after 1800..took awhile to get out of it any the end of the night as the road forms a bit of a bottle neck!..full disability access throughout. Booking online and holding the ticket on your phone seemed to be the most popular method however I am aware booking by phone and having tickets sent is an option

Nestled at Yeovil Junction station, the Yeovil Railway Centre is a delightful destination for both history buffs and families alike. This charming venue showcases an impressive collection of full-scale locomotives alongside a captivating model railway. Originally established in the 1990s to preserve a historic Southern Railway turntable, it has since evolved into a vibrant hub of transport heritage. Visitors can enjoy regular events and even catch the thrilling sight of steam engines being turned from an exclusive viewing platform.
Having visited Yeovil Railway centre many times I can honestly say it’s well worth it. The centre puts on many events over the year including Halloween and Christmas special events. The Railway Centre also host many mainline steam locomotives where they turn and service the loco all of which can be viewed for a small donation. It must not be forgotten that the whole things is run by volunteers.

Cheap day out. Steam train rides on a short track, turntable, model railway and shop on the platform, cafe, miniature railway rides, workshop and museum, free parking. Great.
Avalon E — Google review
We've visited three times, all in December, for the Santa Special 🎅 Such a sweet Santa train experience. Lovely, friendly ladies and gentlemen run these events. It's ever so quaint, their displays and festive boards and signs hold a nostalgic feeling. There's a room with the model railway that's really great for young and old. The main room after the train ride house's a play/dance area, festive displays, lights, music, raffle, refreshment area and, of course, Santa's grotto! Our two are nearly 8 and 10, they loved it all including the falling snow and snowballs! We won a prize in the raffle after our cuppa and mince pie this year too!🏆

All the volunteers do an amazing job. They were very friendly and knowledgeable and we will definitely return. Please support them by visiting. We had a great day out.

Historical place museum
Montacute House, a National Trust country manor dating back to 1601, boasts an impressive collection of Tudor art in its renowned Long Gallery and features formal gardens. Visitors can take a picturesque 1-mile walk starting in the Borough opposite the Phelips Arms and the entrance to Montacute House, passing through the village and offering iconic views down the drive of the house. The route also includes a stroll around the formal gardens and along an avenue of trees through Montacute Park.
Although the top two floors are closed for renovation, the ground floor is open and worth a visit. Grounds are extensive and plenty of long walks available. Suitable for dogs although there were some cattle in the grounds, which didn't seem to mind visitors. Cafe was good with plenty of seating. We had an interesting talk on the exterior of the building from Ray, which we enjoyed.

Very beautiful property. Well worth a visit. Set in a picture perfect village. Recommend the estate walk up the hill to the tower for the views.

Brilliant morning walking around gorgeous gardens. There are longer walks for those that want and a lovely tea rooms for after you finished your wandering. Very reasonable price, good car park and electric hook up for those that might need it.

Fabulous Elizabethan House. The grounds are beautiful. There is a timed entry to the house. Also, there is some limited access whilst a staircase is being renovated. Easy parking. Great place for a picnic.

A National Trust star. A fabulous garden with lots of different styles on display in a tiny area. An imposing house with lots of rooms to explore and a long history to understand. There’s a nice cafe and you can go for a stroke around the estate if the mood takes you.
Andy R — Google review
Fantastic location. Beautiful garden. 1st floor visit only. Eldest tapestry known by National Trust. Furnuture partly not original but that's part of the history of this estate.
Jeroen C — Google review
Montacute house is an excellent rendition of Elizabethan England. Truly encapsulating the grandiose nature of grand homes whilst, unfortunately, only allowing you to see a few rooms inside. Once the upstair floor is open I'll gladly return for my fifth visit!
Daniel B — Google review
Very dry year destroyed the gardens. Two floors are closed for repairs, but we knew this ahead, so not surprised. We had really good soup lunch and enjoyed the abbreviated house tour.

Beautiful walks, dog friendly, although there is a path dedicated to being dog free. Plenty of parking which is free on Sundays. A very good play park for children. Amazing photo opportunities.

A lovely area for all. Play area for kids, fenced area for a wild life walk, paved foot paths for less abled and a woodland walk with waterfalls for the slightly more adventurous. Just watch out for the odd inconsiderate cyclists where speed means everything to them.

ASK Italian is a contemporary Italian restaurant chain that offers an array of delectable options including long, stone-baked pizzas, classic pastas, and enticing entrees. The establishment draws inspiration from Italy to create authentic cuisine that captures the essence of the country. The menu reflects both modern and traditional Italian cooking, catering to diverse tastes. Customers can expect a culinary experience filled with gusto and authenticity at ASK Italian.
Great Service, atmosphere and Excellent food. I have been in here a couple of times and can highly recommend the Calzone’s. Only thing I would say is the Calzone’s should come with chips as it isn’t really enough of its own. Always better to book as the weekends are normally busy.
Paul B — Google review
The atmosphere is inviting, featuring cozy, rustic decor that creates a warm, welcoming ambiance. Service was generally attentive and friendly, with the staff eager to offer recommendations and ensure a pleasant meal. The menu boasts a variety of dishes, and the highlight was undoubtedly the grilled salmon, cooked to perfection with a delicious crispy skin and a flavorful lemon-herb butter sauce. However, the accompanying roasted vegetables were slightly overcooked, losing some of their texture and flavor. A separate dish, the pasta primavera, was also well-prepared, with fresh, vibrant vegetables, although the sauce was a bit bland. Overall, the ASK Italian is a solid choice for a satisfying meal. While some dishes could be improved, the quality of the ingredients, the welcoming atmosphere, and the attentive service make it a place worth visiting. It's a good option for a date night or a casual dinner with friends, offering a pleasant experience with some room for minor adjustments

Banging food, banging ambience, and very helpful staff. We loved the vegan lentil fettuccini so much that we had another portion one after another. The vegan dough balls were super comforting and tasty too. Highly recommend it if you're nearby (we came from our bnb about 10km away). Parking wasn't too hard to find.

Then for our mains I had sea bass with white wine sauce , olives and capers with a side salad. My partner had chicken a sauce with mushrooms and Tuscany potatoes, I had a mouthful and the flavour was divine . Then we finished with profiteroles covered with chocolate mouse and white chocolate sauce and homemade tiramisu. The music the atmosphere decor, the lovely staff made it a very special experience for us . We will be coming back more often. Would highly recommend if you want to try something new . Had an amazing meal here last night – it honestly felt like being in Italy for the evening. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with that lovely mix of chatter, birthday celebrations, and a real buzz in the air. The food was excellent – properly authentic Italian dishes with loads of flavour and very generous portions. You can tell everything is made with quality fresh ingredients. American restaurant
Texas Rocks is a popular restaurant known for its American-style dishes like ribs, burgers, and steaks served on hot rocks. The open kitchen concept allows customers to interact with the Head Chef and select their perfect steak. The menu also features classic Texas BBQ favorites such as mac n cheese, Lone Star burgers, and a full rack of ribs. Located in Yeovil, Somerset, this spot is a go-to destination for those craving an American meat feast.
Visited for an early anniversary meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. At first thought meals were expensive but once they came out they were actually reasonable as they are big. Steak was cooked well but the ones I had were a bit fatty but other than that the meal was delicious. The other dish was huge and delicious. Would recommend giving this place a try and we will definitely be returning to try a different dish.

Texas Rock is a great steak restaurant if you’re in or around Yeovil. In the few times I’ve been there the food has never let them down, even the sides have been great! The staff are always friendly, even when we asked to move due to being sat under a speaker, they found us a new table straight away and a server came straight over. The atmosphere is fun and has its charms due to the American theme! It’s just enough that’s it cheesy but not tacky! It would be worth booking a table as it’s normally quite busy here, always good sign

Our fav steak restaurant in town. Apart from the obvious delicious steaks, they have very good kid menu (see pic) not just those babyish usuals. Kid grilled chicken breast was so flavorful and moist. The chef also adjusted the salad to my own preference. Customer service is great and food quality matches its price. Highly recommended!
Thu N — Google review
The evening was full of mistaken orders. Orders that had been forgotten and to cap it all..... Being asked to vacate our table 25 minutes after having placed our dessert order and not having received any of them. The food is good for large portions, however this is reflected in the price you pay. The quality of the food was quite variable, even within the same dish. Would not want to go back after this experience. I do have to say that I have been here previously and enjoyed the meal, although I have always found it slightly overpriced for the night out.

Cow & Apple is a charming restaurant located in the lively town center of Yeovil. It's a great spot for lunch with an extensive menu offering something for everyone, including their own apple and ginger cider that's sweet and refreshing. While known for their juicy and creative burgers, there are also plenty of meat-free options available. The service is prompt and faultless, with prices lower than expected for such quality. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to accommodate any request.
Great selection for veggies and vegans. I had the veggie hot dog and fries which was huge and the fries were so tasty! Lots of other burgers to choose from too and the Nachos starters were yummy. We had the cider flight which was good value for money and a great selection to choose from. Milkshakes looked incredible but was too stuffed to try one. Staff were lovely. Only slight negative was that no one came over and cleaned the table for us, which was proper sticky from the last customers, but all in all, a great little place in central Yeovil.

I’m Mexican and I approve the food in here! The burrito comes with rice, that I’m not used too, but omg the tacos come with blue corn tortilla! They have a good selection and the pico de gallo with the chimichanga it’s great!
Armando L — Google review
The positives, the cocktails were good and the staff welcoming and helpful. But I was left deeply disappointed by the food which was overpriced, overcooked and almost everything seemed to be soaked in oil. The only positive regarding food was the balsamic vinegar served with the bread which was gorgeous. Needless to say I won't be going back.

Warm welcome, nice atmosphere, warm cosy feel. Dispite being relatively quiet for a Friday, we were put on a table in the corner, with one bench Seat and one stool, not the most comfortable table to be eating at. Watermelon daiquiri was very nice, good quality but not even enough to fill a coupe glass and nearly £10. Food was tasty, cheesy beef rolls were nice, but little greasy. Pork teriyaki burgers were tasty, salmon katsu burgers were lovely but little dry. Over all nice place, but have been to far better places for the money and overall experience
