Zandvoort

Zandvoort is a Dutch coastal town west of Amsterdam. The town is a popular seaside resort, thanks to its long, sandy beach on the North Sea. To the north lies Bloemendaal aan Zee, a smaller beach. Zandvoort contains the southern portion of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The large park includes coastal dunes, trails and the Kennemerduinen Visitor Center (Bezoekerscentrum), which was modeled on a 7th-century farm.

Sights & Landmarks
Circuit Zandvoort is a renowned motorsport circuit that hosts various car and motorcycle races throughout the year. However, Zandvoort offers more than just racing excitement. The town boasts a beautiful beach stretching for miles along the coast, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. With a rich history dating back to the Roman era, Zandvoort features landmarks like the Juttersmu-Zeeum museum and the historic Zandvoort aan Zee train station.
We visited on a Saturday using bikes from our holiday accommodation. Free admission as we didn’t need a car park. If you need there is plenty of parking space. Then you can walk up into the grandstands and view any racing that is taking place on the day. Great experience and you can imagine Grand Prix day even if you can’t be there for that occasion

Brilliant international race circuit situated close to the beach in Zandvoort. Attended the Historic weekend - a great event which allows you to wander all through the paddock and to different parts of the course to watch the action. Turns 11 and 12 offer a great view of cars attempting overtakes and really showcases how different cars approach corners.
George — Google review
Attended a small event which had different categories of cars in the same day. Access is relatively easy by car and public transportation. Once in, would be helpful if they provided a map showing where the different things are on the track area. Toilets were not easily available in some of the areas, although the ones available were clean. There was limited options for food and drinks.
Marcelo W — Google review
20 min walk from the main train station. Tickets were 15 Euros return from Amsterdam. It was well laid out, no entry charge on a non race day. We watched a few training races. Plenty of toilets and food venues and seating and viewing areas to watch races. Definitely would recommend for a fun and different day out experience.
K ( — Google review
Great experience here in Zandvoort. We got in paying nothing, because when there are no events there are also no entry fees. You can take a look around the garages, the stands and more. There are also cars racing there the whole day, so you can get a feeling how the place looks at race weekends. I would recommend visiting the Circuit if you are in Zandvoort!

First time going to a F1 in the Netherlands. Amazing place. Great people. Prepare for lots of walking tho, as the track is relatively far away from the station. Organization was excellent, the vibe unreal, the beers on point. Last one next year, so don’t miss out on a great opportunity.

An Amazing Day at Circuit Zandvoort – A Must-Visit for Racing Fans!" We spent the day at Circuit Zandvoort, and it truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the energy and excitement of the track were contagious. The setting is fantastic, with the circuit nestled in the sand dunes, offering a unique atmosphere that adds to the thrill of the races. The track itself is world-class — fast, technical, and exciting to watch in action. Whether you're a die-hard motorsport fan or just visiting out of curiosity, the experience is captivating. We were lucky enough to catch some live racing, and the sound and speed were just incredible. What really stood out to us was how well the venue is maintained. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean, something you don’t always expect at busy events like this. It's clear the staff take pride in keeping the place tidy and guest-friendly. There’s also a small merchandise shop on site, which had a nice variety of items — from T-shirts and hats to collectible memorabilia. It’s not huge, but it had everything we needed to bring home a few souvenirs. Overall, Circuit Zandvoort offers a well-rounded and enjoyable day out. Whether you're coming for a major event or just to explore the track, it’s well worth the visit. We had an amazing time and would absolutely come back. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area or looking for a unique day trip on the Dutch coast!

Absolutely amazing weekend for the formula one. Excellent viewing areas for general admission and lots to do away from the track.

Nature & Parks
Zuid-Kennemerland National Park is a serene natural escape located just 5 kilometers west of Haarlem. Spanning 3800 hectares, the park features beaches, sand dunes, forests, grasslands, and small lakes. It serves as an important defense against the sea and is home to native vegetation and designated nature reserves.
Such a nice and diverse free activity to do, leading straight to the sea! The route Parnassia sand was the one we took, you can ask more info about it at the reception entrance. Recommended for families kids etc. well kept and maintained park!

Spent a day at Zuid-Kennemerland National Park — a breathtaking stretch of dunes, forests, and hidden lakes that roll all the way to the North Sea. We wandered along sandy trails past grazing deer and Highland cattle, all the way to the serene Vogelmeer -- that translates to: a lake where many birds gather. This is exactly what it is: a peaceful dune lake known for its rich birdlife, including herons, cormorants, ducks, and other waterfowl. A perfect escape into wild Dutch nature — just minutes from the coast.
Lara M — Google review
The most beautiful and memorable place in the area. I fell in love with it from the very first sight. Loads of hiking paths and places to rest. Beautiful lakes on the way. Peace and quiet so close to the city. I loved this place and had a quick recharge with my family.

Various and unique terrains. Sand dunes, wetlands, lakes, and bushes. The scenery was pleasant but nothing really breathtaking. Great for a walk, run or bike ride. There is an animal farm with dozens of sheep.
Nora — Google review
Such a nice and convenient spot! The lake is just a short walk from the car park, making it super easy to access. There’s a really nice café on site and a great playground for the kids—perfect for a relaxed day out.
Ingrid X — Google review
This is one of my most favorite national parks in the Netherlands. They have not only sand duin, lakes, but also beach and forest. Arriving here you will immediately recognize the fresh clean ocean breeze and the variety of plants and landscaping in one area. There are a lot of playgrounds for children at different ages. You can also swim at the lake or simply play at the beach. There are different routes for bicycles and hikers. The roads for bicycles are very nice. The hiking routes are also fabulous to enjoy the bird sound and different nature sceneries. The sign system is kept very well so that you cannot get lost in the nature. The visitor center is connecting with the restaurant and cafeteria. There you can use clean toilets, also for small babies. The Terrace is facing a big playground for small children giving the parents peace in mind where they can seat enjoying a cup of tea while watching the children playing. If you want to cycle, you can rent a bicycle here as well. The combination of everything makes us to decide coming back here for another visit. Strongly recommended!
Phuong N — Google review
Great place for hiking, biking, there are two swimmable lakes, plenty of places for bird-watching, also some semi-wild cows (longhorns), horses, bunnies, foxes.
Andrii S — Google review
It’s a lovely park! It’s nice for cycling, walking, and hanging out with family or friends. There’s a beautiful lake where you can sunbath and swim on sunny days. I’d recommend to go cycling as it’s a large park with many trails. It’s possible to see bisons in one of the trails from September to February. It’s worth a visit!

Beach
Zandvoort Beach is a renowned tourist spot in the Netherlands, featuring a vast 9 km stretch of sandy coastline along the North Sea. Visitors can indulge in various activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and building sandcastles while enjoying picturesque views of the dunes and coastal scenery. The beach also offers beachside cafes and bars for refreshments. It's advisable to dress appropriately for the windy weather, especially during winter visits.
This is a great place to enjoy a sunny day. You can relax on the beach, go for a run or cycle (there’s a bike lane near the beach so you can enjoy a beautiful view), or sample some food from the food trucks across the beachfront. Five minutes walking from there, you’ll find a good variety of restaurants.

Zandvoort Beach is a lovely spot, especially for families. The beach is clean and spacious, with plenty of room for kids to play safely in the sand and shallow water. It's also very conveniently located—just a short walk from the train station. A great place for a relaxing day by the sea!

Beautiful beach - so easy to get to! I visited on 10th September and got really lucky with the weather for most of the day. We were staying in Haarlem and it was so easy to get to the beach on the train from there. Also so easy to walk to the beach from the station! Would love to visit again actually in summer - would love to see a sunset here! We walked to Ubuntu on the sand and it felt like such a workout haha - we then returned partway later that day along the shore and there was so many jellyfish washed up. So many good restaurants and bars along the beach - I can’t believe I’ve been to Amsterdam so many times in the past and never considered a day at the beach!

Zandvoort Beach is a beautiful city escape that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and relaxed charm. The sea is clean and inviting, with gentle waves that are great for both swimmers and surfers. On sunny days, the water sparkles and the horizon seems endless—truly a picturesque view. The promenade is lined with cozy cafes, beach clubs, and it’s ideal for a leisurely stroll at any time of day. Plus there are plenty of seating area to sit and relax and enjoy the view. There are parking garages in noord and zuid and also you can park in street and centrum with tickets.
Rohit S — Google review
Not the nicest beach on earth. Big off-shore windparks destroy any type of atmosphere. Worth to visit only, if you are in the neighbourhood anyways. Good parking available though.

Great, clean beach to watch the sea. Loads of regular seashells. It's best to check out in advance where you would like to park, there are cheaper parkings if you look for them. Plenty restaurants with good food.

Zandvoort Beach, situated in the municipality of Zandvoort, was once a quaint fishing village but has transformed into a popular seaside resort. Its expansive sandy shores and lively sea attract visitors from across Europe. The beach offers ample space for leisurely strolls, sunbathing, and swimming. Despite its popularity, there are quieter times to visit and enjoy the fresh air and relaxation it offers. Additionally, being pet-friendly adds to its charm.
So we visited in September, 2025. Hot day, good weather. 1 rain cloud. Tried 2 places & eaten at Hippie Fish. Clean beach. Will visit when here again.

Enjoyed the beach and surrounding area. Ate at a local restaurant on the beach. Service wasnt that great. I dont know if a tip was included didn't get a receipt or copy of the actual bill. Had to track down to server twice to pay I was about to leave and not pay A Family had seagulls dive bombing their food. Got their food too. Explained why most were just drinking cocktails and beer not so much eating the food. I got stung by a bee trying to cover my food from the seagulls Asked for ice never came so had to get it myself. Not the best experience at this restaurant on the beach Oh yeah they want you to pay to use the restroom. I did not!

The beachfront felt overbuilt with blocky apartments and packed beach clubs, not much charm. The sand is wide and the promenade is fine for a walk, yet the views feel cluttered.

Fun beach, but there are better beaches around in The Netherlands.

This is one of the most nice beaches in the Netherlands. The beach is very long so You can walk for ours. You can chill or play here in the sun or go swimming in the sea. There are special times and places where and when it is not so crowded. The air is fresh and it is totaly relaxing just to be there. At all a very good place to charge Your energy!

Overcrowded place by good weather. The nearby located supermarket was out of any cold or cooled water. Prices at the beach are insane. 4€ for a small water by almost 39 degrees. The beach itself with the large sand is pretty clean and you can easy enter the large wide sea.

The Zandvoorts Museum is a cultural hub that offers a captivating journey through the history and art of Zandvoort. It houses an extensive collection of ceramics, costumes, artwork, utensils, dinnerware, ship models, prints, swimwear, paintings and glass pieces. The museum provides insights into the transformation of Zandvoort from a fishing village to a popular seaside resort.
Small but very well curated with a small exhibition about the history of the town and currently a street art exhibit. The staff is friendly and will even show you around the place. 👍

Great Food and super nice service! We had a lovely evening at the Local Bistro!

Even though the taste and quality of the food was excellent, there was a human hair in our dish. When we complained, we didn’t even get a small refund or “drink on the house” etc. Instead we even heard the waiter laughingly telling the cook about the hair. For a high class restaurant like this, we would have expected e different behavior. Nevertheless the atmosphere was great and the taste of the food outstanding.

What a good restaurant! - best one in town!!! Food great! Location great! make sure you have a reservation - they fill up fast!

A relaxed, cozy, romantic little restaurant with an authentic vibe mixing modern European dishes with classic French. Don’t plan to rush in & out, the service takes its time but for us was well worth it. Delicious, rich plates that were hearty and refined. Highly recommend the coq au vin, the fries(!!), French onion soup, lobster bisque. What a gem here in Zandvoort!

I went there because of the Shrimps, and it was worth it! It was also recommended by the gentleman at the restaurant and it didn't disappoint. The service was very friendly.. which is something to appreciate. I recommend ordering the chocolate mousse as a dessert, it was one of the best I've had so far.

I came to this restaurant for the second time with my family, I was disappointed and I will never go back. I ordered llama bones, which were like rubber, when I told the waiter that they were like rubber, he smiled and left, as if to let you know your problems, and the most shocking thing was that they charged me for what I didn't eat. Also, the chicken liver with glazed apples was something terrible, it was half green, it made me sick. I will not recommend it! Shame.Good luck to you!

Nestled in the picturesque dunes between Haarlem and Zandvoort, De Bokkedoorns is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its two Michelin stars, this restaurant offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, allowing guests to indulge in exquisite seasonal dishes while enjoying stunning views of the lush surroundings. The atmosphere is surprisingly relaxed for such an esteemed establishment, making it perfect for both intimate dinners with loved ones or special celebrations.
We went to De Bokkedoorns for our one-year anniversary. It was an absolutely wonderful experience! We got there just before 6 PM and didn't leave until almost midnight. It was over five hours of incredible service and food. Our servers Jane, Deb, and Don were wonderful and helped make the experience one we will never forget. It’s difficult to pick a favorite course, but we were glad that we opted to get the optional cheese course. It was delicious and we are still talking about it weeks later. We are Americans, so this restaurant is not close by, but we already promised each other that we will be back in ten years to celebrate our 11th Anniversary. The place is that special!
Jon D — Google review
Our group of three visited Bokkendoorns last Friday for dinner.  Sadly, our experience was extremely sub-par. First, the food was excellent.  Easily 5-Stars.  Everything was incredible as to be expected. However, the service was just not good and really hurt the overall experience. Initial drink order: They don't offer a wine pairing, so we asked for recommendations on what works with the first course.  Our server just asked, "Do you like red or white?"  We said we don't care, just recommend what works.  The server simply had no idea what to suggest and there was no sommelier on staff. Amuse-bouche: We had a food allergy and pescetarian in our group.  Oddly enough, the amuse-bouche was delivered with the one food allergy ingredient for one of the guests and meat for the pescatarian.  Not a huge deal by any means, and they fixed it right away, but this is typically something that shouldn't happen in a place like this. Subsequent drink order:  On our next drink order, we asked for recommendations on what type of wine to order for pairing purposes and a different server had the same response of simply asking if we like red or white instead of suggesting something that goes with the meal. Table Cleanliness:  They brought bread for the table, which was great, however crumbs get everywhere with bread.  Nobody came by to swipe the crumbs until the very end of the meal.  Again, not a big deal to me, but it's that extra touch to be expected from a Michellin two-star establishment. Final Drink order and Bill:  Towards the end of the meal, we sat for at least 10-15 minutes with empty glasses before someone came by for drink orders.  It was really odd how something like empty glasses can be overlooked several times by employees walking by our table.  Then once our meal was over, it took a really long time to get our bill. Overall, it was just somewhat of a cold experience from a service standpoint in every aspect.  I've always been "Wowed" at the level of service from Michellin starred restaurants, but this definitely was not on point or on the same level.
EH H — Google review
Had a great evening. Atmospheric place, excellent and pleasant service, and of course fantastic food. The only thing I missed was a wine pairing. They explained why they don’t offer it, but personally I prefer not having to think about the wine selection myself. And it does push the costs up, which are already substantial. 😊

Two star Michelin restaurant that absolutely deserves its rating! A gastronomic delight. We had an amazing 7 course menu with wine pairing that was out of this world. The staff were so attentive to our every need and were so knowledgeable about the menu and the sommelier regaled us with details of the wines we enjoyed. One of the best dining experiences of my life.
Andres R — Google review
A ok two stars Michelin restaurant. Food is delicious and delicate. Very good service, staffs are polite and helpful. The environment is relaxing and with a beautiful view facing a lake. Outside seating is nice with the sun shining, the interior inside is elegant and classic, comfortable seats to enjoy the meals. Toilets are clean and super modern. Yet, for the value of money, we expect better bread and butter, maybe because we have had better homemade bread and nicely prepared herbal butter in other normal restaurants before.
Lekker G — Google review
The perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The staff are excellent, very attentive and genuinely friendly. We had the tasting menu with the accompanying wine and it was fantastic! The crab was a particular highlight along with so many of the sauces accompanying every dish! They leave a small amount on the table and some bread if you would like to have more sauce! The wines were all very interesting and one of the best combinations I've had. As it was our anniversary (and perhaps because I was in a kilt and my wife in her wedding dress) we received a small gift from the kitchen.

Very very slow, so don’t come here if you have a somewhat tight schedule and want to do more during the day than sit there and wait. In my case, felt like the locals were served with priority. Food was ok, but overpriced. Staff was friendly.

Have returned a year later and was very excited to return because we enjoyed it last year but feel that the prices have escalated and service not as good. I had a fresh mint tea that the cup was only half full and was charged 8 euros because I asked for some extra hot water. For goodness sake, the cup was not full to start with and so i asked for more boiling water. I was not impressed. It is just mint and water. And they didn’t even put in fresh mint. Very disappointed.

The service was long, too long, while there were very few people. Good meal but too expensive for what it is. No cutlery, we are supposed to eat with our fingers!!!! Even tissues were of no use to us. The bread is hard as a rock. The restaurant is well located. The waitress is very friendly.

Chantal E — Google review
I visited this restaurant with my friends, hoping for a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, my excitement turned into disappointment when our food arrived. My pasta was drenched in an excessive amount of oil, which made the dish nearly inedible. To make matters worse, my friend's fries was accompanied by an unwelcome guest – a fried fly resting on the plate. It was evident that hygiene is not a priority at this establishment. When we brought up the issue of the fly in our meal, the response was far from satisfactory. The restaurant's attempt to rectify the situation was feeble, as they merely removed the cost of a bottle of water from the bill. Shockingly, we were still expected to pay for the contaminated food that had clearly fallen below even the most basic hygiene standards. In my attempt to express my dissatisfaction, I approached another staff member. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, she became unexpectedly confrontational. With an aggressive demeanor, she snatched the receipt from my hand, leaving me feeling uneasy and apprehensive. It was a truly uncomfortable encounter that left me fearing for further escalation. To add insult to injury, the compensation offered was a mere 4.5 euros – a gesture that felt more like charity than a genuine attempt to acknowledge their mistakes. This experience has left an indelible mark on me, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this restaurant to anyone. The lack of hygiene and the discourteous behavior displayed by the staff are clear indicators that this establishment falls far short of acceptable standards.

Absolutely worst breakfast one can have in zaandvort. I came here in hopes of good food by looking at the 4.7 star rating on google maps and here's what I got: Half a scrumbled egg. Cold coffee. Three pieces of extra thin cheese And bread. And guess what? This costs 15 euros here! Such a disappointment for dutch culture. The waiter was a super rude teenager that did not care about us. Just wanted to get done. Every time we called her, she gave us a look as though she doesn't want to care at all. The food took 30 minutes to prepare! Take a look at the picture! That took 30 minutes to prepare! Absolute disappointment. I do not recommend any sane and self-aware human to come here.

Great place to relax, to have food & drinks, while enjoying the sun, The music and atmosphere was great and peacefull. There are many seats & tables to choose, wind shields to cover if it's windy, big umbrelas on the exterior area. This used to be my favorite place at the beach for almost 4 years, but gradually quality and portions is going down and prices up. For exampel: In 2023 soups were flavourful and filling, now in 2024 it’s just salty bolw of brown with 2 pieces of shrimp and cheapest bread slices. It used to be reliable with opening 365days a year to the public. All comfy seats are turned into tables - i get it, more turn around… I’d rather pay for quality.

Nice staff. But the amount of options for a vegetarian are extremely limited. Portion sizes are ridiculously small compared to non vegetarian options. The roman salad (which is supposed to me a main) is literally a big leaf of lettuce with dressing. Must admin, big leaf of lettuce, but still, one leaf of lettuce. My advise, create some variety in your menu also for people who choose not to eat meat and fish.

Average food, poor service. There was not enough staff to service the restaurant, so we were moved from inside to outside. Italian restaurant
If you're craving authentic Italian cuisine, look no further than MMX Italian restaurant located on Haltestraat. This charming eatery offers a delightful array of homemade pastas and traditional dishes that will transport your taste buds straight to Italy. Signature offerings like Pasta al Parmigiano and salt-crusted sea bass are just the tip of the iceberg, alongside mouthwatering pizzas that evoke memories of sun-soaked vacations in Apulia.
Food and service were both great. We enjoyed our pasta and cheesecake. Bummer tho we didnt see that cheese roll or we'd have ordered that for sure. It was a great night.

The food was really good but the restaurant was a little small, tables crowded everywhere, you could hear the other people talking next to you. The waiters only speak English, which is fine, but I would expect that they would speak Dutch.

Definitely a good choice if you’re up for some good Italian food when you’re in Zandvoort. Everything is fresh, the pasta is home made and the pizza’s are absolutely great (good dough that has been risen for 12 hours). Tip: with pizza’s you also have the option to get ‘black dough’ with activated charcoal. It’s a nice gimmick, but I personally wouldn’t recommend it. As for desert, I can recommend the Tiramisu (home made). The Dame Blanche and Lemon Cake are decent but nothing special.

First of all I Had metal-screw in my Lasagna... Otherwise the food and the place were allright. A Bit odd was that the waiter asked me If i wanted to keep eating the Lasagna after i told him about the screw. In the end i did Not have to pay the Lasagna.

Great food and service at this Italian place. There are gluten free pasta options and they have a special pasta parmiagano dish which they make at your table. Highly recommended.

Great food, normal prices, nice waiters. Eat here if you want to eat more quietly than the main street.

Very kind people with experience in italian food as in service. Kind and helpful but overall, masters in handling food and preparing deliciousness. I highly recommend.
