Nestled in the picturesque town of Douarnenez, Restaurant La Capitainerie offers a delightful dining experience with stunning views of the port. This charming eatery is known for its vibrant atmosphere and friendly service, making it an ideal spot for both locals and visitors alike. Diners can indulge in delicious seafood dishes, particularly their renowned mussels, which are a must-try despite being on the smaller side compared to other regions.
Beautiful view of the harbour from the outdoor seating. The food was fantastic as was the service. The speciality dessert Kouign-amann is amazing. Would recommend a visit and we would definitely return.

A lovely and busy place to eat in amazing surroundings. Both had the mussels which were very tasty but very small compared to everywhere else we have eaten them in both France and the U.K. Service was very good with very helpful and happy staff and dog friendly too. We sat outside people watching but be aware that it was very busy after 8pm so you might be best to book. We just turned up at 7.30 and were seated without a booking but that wouldn’t have been the case when we left.

We have eaten twice st this restaurant during our recent visit to Douarenez. I have given it a 5 star review as the food was of a very high standard , service so friendly and helpful, we are not fluent in French, and also great value. Thank you for two memorable nights.

We tried this restaurant during our stay in Douarnenez. Location is nice, in front of the port and service was fast and friendly. Unfortunately the food left me very disappointed. Meat was ok, but i took a risotto that it was so overcooked that it was impossibile to recognize that there was rice inside. Taste was completely covered by cheese and cream. For me it was a no go.

Amazing location by the sea with view on Ile Tristan. Fish was fresh and beautifully presented in the plate. I recommend to eat outside on a sunny day and to follow by a walk along the coast and little creeks.

We decided to take a 45 minutes drive to go to this place for 9pm... in their web it says to come in and no need to book or call, they close at 11PM... So when we arrived around 9PM they told us they have just closed the kitchen and to go away in a very rude way. There were more people before and after us that were told to go away too in a very arrogant fashion.....

Delicious food in a pretty setting. Very attentive and friendly staff. Great price/quality ratio. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Wow! We came here on a whim after realizing most of the restaurants in Locronan were closed for the Easter holiday. We’re so glad we did. The service was absolutely lovely, prompt and attentive - and food was even better. The blue cheese burger is a must have! The views of the water as the sun set along with great ambiance were the cherries on top. Would highly recommend!

Creperie
French restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Douarnenez, Crêperie Au Goûter Breton is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Breton cuisine. This beloved establishment specializes in delectable galettes and crepes, offering a delightful taste of local tradition. With its friendly atmosphere and efficient service, it’s no wonder that this spot has become an institution among both locals and visitors alike. The menu features savory pancakes starting at around 3.
Very delicious crepes, original decoration, service is very friendly, strongly recommended !

Great crepes. It appears to be a local tradition for waiters to put their thumbs inside the cider cup... There was also a misunderstanding regarding the cider brand and the waitress made no effort to point out which brands they carried, and was a bit rude but that's probably training. Soft drinks were flat (poured from a larger bottle). The place is always very busy so book well in advance.

If you are around you can not miss this amazing place. So charming so cool. The service is great. Taste great.

It is the coolest crêperie in the region. Super cool designed.
Siyu L — Google review
Friendly atmosphere and quick service, but above all an "Institution" when it comes to crêpes/galettes/billing. To be enjoyed accompanied by a boule of cider brut. Fair prices and good for families.

Very good crêpes ❤️

At 1:30 pm they’ve made enough business for midday. We (4 persons) were not seated on a Saturday 🤔 (“we’re closing soon”) and this out of tourist season. Services in French restaurants can be pretty frustrating ☹️

Depends what you order. The Ham, cheese and mushroom was fully loaded and delicious. The Bacon and Gruyère cream was disappointing. A piece of bacon and not even a tablespoon of the gruyere cream, was completely baffling

Nestled away from the bustling streets, Restaurant L'Athanor is a hidden gem that beckons adventurous foodies. While its exterior may not catch your eye at first glance, stepping inside reveals an eclectic decor that exudes warmth and charm. The menu boasts a delightful mix of paellas and grilled seafood alongside French classics like duck confit, ensuring there's something for everyone to savor.
We ate here today. 1. Excellent staff and service. Very attentive servers and owner. 2. We had seafood, squid, lobster, and lamb. The lamb was superb. Sauce was great. All items were delicious. Higly recommended!

This restaurant is hard to find by coincidence - but lucky you if you found it finally ,-) Even from the outside they seem to kind of avoid people from entering, just a small sign about their existence. But you will be not disappointed at all; the dinner we had was excellent, the food tasty and eclectic. Wines appear a little price, but the excellent staff compensated for that ;-) Definitly a good recommendation if you're around there.

We had dinner here tonight. We ordered the paella for 2 and it was excellent. The seafood was done perfectly and it was loaded with other meats too. The flavor was outstanding. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful given my limited French.. they also recommended a good bottle of wine to accompany the meal. Finally we had a salted caramel sundae - how decadent- but good!

Lovely people and delicious food. If you have a baby who can sit, ask for the table with the red bench:) Our 10months old babyboy loved sitting there and watch the many colors of the excentric kitsch Spanish decoration

The decor is very original and lots of fun. The owner is very funny and attentive. The problem is the service. We arrived at 8:30 PM and we rushed through our meal by a very impatient waiter who wanted to go home. He came by three times to try to clear our appetizer plate. It’s stressed us out .The food was pretty average, and somewhat overpriced. Portions are small (my boyfriend ordered the lobster (was not that good, probably frozen ) and was served the tiniest bowl of rice, you’d think they’d give a bigger portion of rice which is so cheap)

Lovely family restaurant, good service and good food. Try also the desserts, they are awesome.

We really enjoyed this very special place: Quite unimpressive from outside, the interior is a conglomerate of nick-nack, what makes it very likeable and warm. The food was very good: we enjoyed some mussels as a starter, a filet Rossini as main, and finally cheese and a creme brûlée. It was excellent and we really enjoyed the ambience and the dinner. Try yourself! We hope you can enjoy it the way we did.

We never miss the opportunity to dine at l’Athanor when we vacation in Douarnenez. The food has been consistently excellent (you can’t go wrong with any of the paellas, the mariscada, the côte de boeuf—tasty, generous portions, quality ingredients). Service is great, and the restaurant has a lot of character and a fun ambiance. It’s a real treat!

Nestled in a charming coaching inn dating back to 1878, L'Insolite offers a delightful blend of traditional hospitality and modern comfort. Guests rave about the cozy, spacious rooms that provide a serene escape right in the heart of the city. The highlight is undoubtedly the acclaimed restaurant, where diners can indulge in an impressive array of creative dishes crafted with fresh ingredients. From delectable starters like shrimp and tuna to exquisite main courses featuring fish, every meal promises to be memorable.
I came here for a night only, and regretted I couldn't stay longer... The restaurant service and dining experience was really pleasant. The room was clean and spacious, also very calm despite being in the city centre. And the breakfast buffet was quite impressive, a lot of "fait Maison" pastries and cakes. Would definitely recommend to stay here, great value for money. Classy and comfy. Mister Olivier was really helpful at the reception. Very polite and Understanding 🙏

Very nice place. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast, the breakfast show by Madame was most entertaining. Not cheap, but good. Restaurant is quite posh - not suitable for cyclists who want to trough! Good safe bike storage. Good place from which to tour Pointe du Raz peninsular.

A restaurant where the chef actually comes to greet the guests - not something done in many restaurants we’ve been to during our France trip. Very interesting food combinations, and very good service. We appreciated that we were accepted for dinner at a late hour, and even if we had not made a reservation.
Adriana — Google review
I stayed two nights in the hotel and both evenings had a dinner in the restaurant. The food was delicious! The menu is very creative and elaborate. I tried shrimps and tuna for starter and fish for the main. All dishes were excellent. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is really high quality and is definitely worth a visit.
Olga R — Google review
Two of us had lunch. There is a set menu with a choice of two dishes per course, with a glass of wine with the two first courses. The price is very reasonable. Well worth it. We would definitely return. Service very good but relaxed. Quality of the food outstanding. Fresh, well cooked, tasty. Excellent value for money.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Strategically positioned in the city centre, but there's no private parking. Free public parking along the nearby streets.
