Museums
Neues Schloss, also known as the New Castle, is a renowned 18th-century baroque palace located in Meersburg near Lake Constance. It stands next to the medieval Burg Meersburg and overlooks steep vineyards and the picturesque town. The castle features a museum on its third floor and a cafe with stunning views of the lake and Alps from its park terrace. Visitors can enjoy the impressive architecture, history, and sculptures of seagulls throughout the museum.
There are only few rooms on the second floor that can be visited, half of which are in museum format. Overall, quite nice. A must-see place if you're on a tour around Lake Constance. The view of the lake from the terrace and from the second floor is breathtaking!
Eleonora B — Google review
Definitely NOT worth it! Only a few rooms have anything to see, and what can be seen is scarce and unexciting. Additionally, there’s a nasty old lady on the third floor who aggressively asks for your ticket, when there’s no way to enter the property without one! I didn’t see her ask anyone else, so it might be a bit of discrimination on her part because we were speaking in Spanish. This place should be converted into a nice hotel, and that lady should retire to be alone with her bitterness.
Pablo C — Google review
the new seat of prince Bishops in the baroque era of Germany. overlooking the sea and has magnificent features especially the entrance stairs and the mirror hall.
David A — Google review
Being very honest, for the average person you are not missing much if you skip it. But if you have some extra time in your day, it is nice to see the inside!
Ricardo F — Google review
Beautiful building located on the ridge. You can talk to the top with a good pair of legs. Take your time otherwise. It is quite a steep road. No need to purchase tickets in advance. Very nice view from the top out toward Lake Constance
JC L — Google review
It is a great renesonce castle with baroque influence. The location atop of a small hill next to the medival castle overlooking the lake and seeing the whole northern alpes on a clear day make it a hands down recommendation. The restaurant offers top notch quisine for lunch and has a good cake selection for a quick afternoon break. Overall one of the top recommendation if you visit lake constance.
Alexander S — Google review
Beautiful castle and fantastic view across the boden see. The audio guide was also appreciated. Be aware, no English tours currently (although the audio guide could be in English).
James F — Google review
Beautifully maintained, great frescos in the ceilings, with access also to the splendid chapel, the Schloss is worth visiting if in the area.

Sights & Landmarks
Meersburg Castle, located on the shores of Lake Constance, is a 12th-century marvel that houses a medieval museum with 35 rooms and a charming cafe in a baroque hall. The castle offers breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding vineyards, making it a popular destination for visitors. It's an ideal spot to witness stunning sunsets, especially when taking the ferry back to Konstanz in the late evening.
The castle is really interesting, not too big, with a good atmosphere. There's an audio guide available by a qr code. The views are impressive, and the Bodensee is just magnificent. We were there on Monday, in April. Not too crowded. It's definitely worth visiting if you are interested in historical places.

old medieval castle and the old seat of prince-Bishops. you take the tour and follow the numbers on the wall and you travel in time between multiple stages. you enjoy the sea view and the medieval music. interesting.
David A — Google review
It’s really nice to visit a nice museum with long history back to the 10th century. The route is well designed with nice view in the garden. Recommend!
RM — Google review
Set aside a morning or afternoon to visit as this place is huge. Using your phone you can access verbal information about the different rooms and history of the castle. Fascinating. The gardens are beautiful and there is a Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating thats not to be missed.
Georgia P — Google review
The family thoroughly enjoyed the castle. It is like time traveling back to the medieval times. The boys liked all the weapons. It’s well worth the admission cost.

Burg Meersburg is considered the oldest inhabited castle in Germany and stands as one of the main attractions on Lake Constance. The fortress offers visitors a glimpse into medieval life with its halls, chambers, and historical exhibits. From its towers and terraces, there are also striking views over the lake and the old town below, making it a rewarding stop for history enthusiasts and travelers alike
MrReview — Google review
Meersburg Old Castle (Altes Schloss) is one of the most authentic and atmospheric castles I’ve ever visited. Perched above the charming town of Meersburg, it offers incredible views over Lake Constance and even the Swiss Alps on clear days. The self-guided tour takes you through 30+ fully furnished rooms — including dungeons, knight’s halls, the old kitchen, armory, and the personal quarters of German poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. The experience feels raw and genuine — unlike many overly restored castles. The castle’s narrow staircases, wooden beams, and thick stone walls transport you right back to medieval times. Informational signs and brochures (in several languages) are helpful, and you can take your time exploring. It’s a short but steep walk through Meersburg’s old town to get there, but it’s worth every step. There’s a cozy café and a small gift shop inside. Not ideal for wheelchairs or strollers due to the structure, but manageable for most. Tickets are around €14, and great value considering the experience. You can also get combo tickets for nearby attractions. Highly recommended for history lovers, families, and anyone wanting to explore a real medieval castle with breathtaking lake views! I just visited last month it was an amazing experience the castle.. it's feel Like in walking in a history hollywood film

A very interesting place to visit. I recommend using audio guide on your phone. You can scan the QR codes in different places in the castle and find out its history.

Vineum Bodensee, situated in Meersburg, is a captivating museum housed within the 400-year-old Heilig-Geist-Spital building. It seamlessly blends historical architecture with contemporary multimedia installations. While predominantly German-focused, it offers an enriching experience for those fluent in the language. The museum provides an insightful journey into the world of wine and is a must-visit for enthusiasts seeking to delve into its rich history and cultural significance.
This was an exceptional and truly enjoyable tour. I could genuinely feel the significant cultural and historical role that wine has played throughout the years. The wines were incredibly unique and absolutely delicious.
닥터MRF — Google review
A must visit in Meersburg. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and made the experience worth while. You can try different wines at a very reasonable cost and this will be offset if you buy some bottles. We tasted white wines and enjoyed their freshness and vitality. Danke
Iwan J — Google review
The person who explains is really kind and all the wine is delicious. You can also taste wine. She also explains her knowledge about wine well.
딸기라떼 — Google review
I'm waited a little bit more, but for general information it's enough. Also you can see some historical movies, to fill different wines' flavours and try some glasses of wine
Taisia B — Google review
(edited Nov 2024 to be more clear as feedback to the Vineum response) if you don't understand German it is tough, but it is a nice museum. You get a booklet with some translations, HOWEVER there are many interactive exhibits, eg Videos, hanging art, tasting areas etc... that are ONLY in German and you end up missing out on alot. Make sure you also ask the staff more questions, they are efficient in their dealings with the customers. Make sure you save alot of time before 6pm to do the winetasting (cost money 1.5euro per .1l) Closing time is STRICT be wary (We took too long in the museum trying to match the translation to the piece, and missed alot of the tasting also)
Tabeblog — Google review
Very interesting exebition of wine history. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Really great museum, but only if you speak German, as nothing is written in English. However if you do speak German I HIGHLY recommend going here!!!

Cool vibes and Demetrius made us feel like we were regulars . The drinks were perfect and the location was pretty . We will be back in July 2025 .

Hotel Seepromenade is a relaxed waterfront option with a laid-back eatery and complimentary Wi-Fi and breakfast. Located conveniently on the promenade in the heart of Meersburg, it offers compact yet stylish and pristine ensuite rooms. The staff is extremely friendly, but the highlight is undoubtedly the outstanding restaurant, serving top-notch cuisine that surpasses all others in the vicinity.
We needed a hotel room at the very last minute. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. The room was super spacious and clean. Comfortable bed and very suitable bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic. The location was absolutely perfect for exploring the town and was very quiet.

Nice hotel at the lake side. Very good breakfast, attentive staff throughout. Room perhaps on the small side for the price.
Rainer G — Google review
Genuinely, one of the most beautiful locations with really comfortable beds, amenities, and great service!
Jules S — Google review
Well located directly on the promenade in the centre of Meersburg. The rooms although small are ensuite are smart and clean. Very friendly staff. However, the best part overall is the amazing restaurant that serves some of the best food in the area. Absolutely gorgeous and deserves the highest rating. The staff are all highly attentive, delivering a great service. The ambience is just amazing, fresh flowers provide a perfect backdrop for your meal. I can recomend the Surf and Turf which that evening was the special. They are one of only two restaurants in Germany who really know what a blue steak should be. I'm am sure what ever special is on you will not be disappointed. Cannot wait to return. Brilliant

The chef is an artist. The way she presented the dishes were beautiful and delicious. I returned to the restaurant next day. Unfortunately, it is closed on Sunday afternoon. I will definitely come back next year.

Restaurant
Meersburger Winzerstuben is a charming hillside lodge with a terrace offering delightful lake views. This establishment specializes in home-style German cuisine and serves delectable dishes, including fresh lake fish. The portions are generous, reflecting traditional German fare. Additionally, they boast an impressive selection of snaps, with the unique Topinambur being particularly noteworthy. One minor inconvenience experienced by some customers was the longer-than-advertised wait time for outdoor seating.
Restaurant has an outdoor area overlooking the lake and the city. Also an inside area. Very charming atmosphere. The food is excellent. We ordered garlic spetzle, fish, and steak. All were perfectly cooked. Highly recommend.

We held our wedding reception here, and everything was absolutely perfect. The private room was beautifully decorated, creating a wonderful ambiance. From the service to the setting—and most especially the food—everything exceeded our expectations. We were all very satisfied with how the staff took care of us, and that made our special day even more memorable. This is why we’ll continue coming back and highly recommend this restaurant to others.

Service was great, the waitors were really nice to us and served quickly. However the dishes were so so, maybe we didn't choose the right ones to try out. Mine was whitefish, I personally thought the fish was fresh but might be a bit greasy.

Beautiful view from the hill. Service was fast and most importantly the food was delicious. Ox Cheeks and Chicken with Spatzle

We always check reviews before eating in a restaurant and this one had good reviews. We went twice in one week as it was great. Lovely tasty food and lovely surroundings. If you get to eat outside, even better!
Caroline P — Google review
Nice typical German food. Portions are typical German ie big. They have nice selection of snaps, I took an original one of Topinambur.... amazing! What I didn't like is to get a table outside they mentioned a waiting time of 15 min it was more like 35 min and I saw many people taking outside tables which came inside. Now it was better to tell us to take a table inside have a drink to then go outside. There is a small view on the lake

Nestled in the charming town of Meersburg, Baden-Württemberg, Markgräflich Badische Weinstube offers a delightful culinary experience that showcases the rich flavors of German and Central European cuisine. This family-run establishment is known for its warm atmosphere and inviting decor, making it an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the picturesque surroundings. Guests can indulge in a variety of traditional dishes paired with exquisite local wines, all while enjoying views from their lovely terrace.
When in Meersburg, you must visit this place. Delicious regional specialities in a very cozy atmosphere. The place is located only a short walk from the boat landing, and offers a perfect spot for lunch or dinner. The “Maultaschen” are the cook’s most famous dish by the way.

Superb food, laid-back&friendly atmosphere, beautiful terrace, resident dog. I'll probably never eat a schnitzel this good again — a bittersweet moment to savour. Zweibelrostbraten was excellent, too. I'll let no one ever speak badly of German cuisine again.
Fusilli G — Google review
A very nice place to have a good glass of wine... and to try typical southern german food! Staff is very friendly... besides that you also can buy the wine here. It has funny names like „Gedankenspiel“ (mind Game) „Meilenstein“ ( mike stone) or „Momentaufnahme“ (snapshot) When in Meersburg definitely do go here and enjoy!
Horst W — Google review
Extremely friendly, cozy and GREAT FOOD (high qualify). Many wines to enjoy with the beautiful arranged dishes. Changes are no problem and free of charge. Vegetarians will also get happy. In summer there are also tables outside and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. They rent out rooms. I look forward going there whenever nearby, at least 20 years.

Italian restaurant
Droste-Café Restaurant Bar PIZZERIA is a vibrant dining destination that offers an inviting atmosphere with stunning views of Lake Constance. Once a dance hall, this bright Italian restaurant now serves up delectable dishes like antipasti, pizza, and pasta in a serene setting right above the water. Guests can enjoy their meals on the terrace or at window tables while soaking in the picturesque scenery.
Best Pizza in Meersburg! I visited this place last year. I had the absolute pleasure of enjoying pizza at Droste-Café Restaurant Bar PIZZERIA in Meersburg, and I have to say—it was mouthwatering. From the very first bite, you can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. The crust was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Each topping was generously added and incredibly tasty.
Ninad S — Google review
Great place, all good was awesome. I will recommend 1000% Tiramisu was just melting in the mouth. Pizza, chicken breast, fish platter is too awesome. Try to go on weekends, weekdays there is no much vibe and felt food is kind of not fresh. I went on Saturday March 30th 2024 Saturday felt too good. Then again on April 1st 2024 Monday wasnt that good.

Wow. Great location right at the lake. Surprisingly food was very tasty and the staffs were all friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed my seafood soup, the grilled squid with creamy pasta and the warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and Caramel sauce very much! They have an absolutely beautiful area upstairs with high ceiling, which I can imagine ones could privatize for events. We'll surely be back when we'll go back to visit this beautiful town!
Pornkamol W — Google review
Absolutely delicious. The waitets are very polite and smiling. Service is fast. The scenery is beautiful. Toilet is clean. The only downside is that the tables in the garden are too close together. You can hear your side table talking about you. I would like to come here again. There are pizzas suitable for halal food. The thing that stuck in my mind the most was the smiling faces of the waiters. Thank you.
Elif C — Google review
We had 4 meals for 3 persons, spaghetti carbonara was awful 😖 (no egg used and awful cream to make the souce but I never had onions in pasta carbonara, literally disgusting) the parmigiano was missing, replaced the dish with chicken breast with fries but the fries weren't good either, felt reheated fries. I had a pizza which was a 2 out of 5. Prices compared to what you get are truly imbalanced, another fake Italian cuisine experience. The grilled octopus was good but isl 1 out of 4 dished we had. If you want to pay by card you have to go inside as they are too lazy to carry the POS to outside terrace at your table, even though it is wireless. Will not return here. Whoever wants to eat, just pick some other place.
Dan S — Google review
Mesmerizing view from the balcony. Scrumptious lunch. Pizza is authentic and tasty. Hirsch Hefe Weizen is undoubtedly awesome. If you are in Konstanz please visit Meersburg and don't forget to try this restaurant with a wonderful view.
