Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Ponte Visconteo, a venerable bridge completed in 1395 and restored over the years, stands as a town landmark. The oldest part of the village still retains its medieval charm, highlighted by the presence of the bell tower, water mill wheels used for grinding wheat and cereals in the past, and the fortifications of Ponte Visconteo.
It's like a hidden paradise on earth. Streams, greenery, beautiful architecture and great weather. Unfortunately, it can be very crowded. I recommend coming by car. There are too many people for the size of the area. Prices are above the Italian average. However, the experience deserves 5 stars.
Berkay S — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking, especially during sunset. The crowd will most likely disperse by then. It's like a scenery that's been lifted out of a fairytale book. Beautiful.
Hendy O — Google review
The bridge is now also a main road with many cars on it, taking away some of the appeal. Plus it's not in great shape. However, if you walk on it you get a nice view of Borghetto and the river, which I recommend visiting. Accessible from New Town or from the parking near Borghetto.
Paul H — Google review
A beautiful bridge with 600 year old footsteps. Beautiful architecture in a nice scenery between parts of the river!
Kevin M — Google review
What a stunner! Picturesque surroundings and a magestic bridge with so much history. Beautiful, on any day in any weather. Make sure you take the short journey up to the castle, more than worth the little bit of exertion it takes.
Geoff S — Google review
We visited after dinner. Since it was too dark , we cannot see the whole thing clearly. But it was beautiful at night. If you’re in Borghetto, you should stop by.
Xiaoxuan W — Google review
Nestled in the picturesque village of Borghetto, the Ponte Visconteo is a true testament to architectural beauty and historical significance. This medieval bridge, spanning gracefully over the tranquil waters of the Mincio River, is nothing short of enchanting. The bridge's elegant stone arches seem to whisper tales of centuries gone by, invoking a sense of awe and wonder. Its intricate design showcases the craftsmanship of a bygone era, a true testament to the skills of the artisans who built it. Strolling across the Ponte Visconteo is like stepping into a living postcard. The view from the bridge is absolutely breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista of the charming village, the meandering river, and the lush green surroundings. It's a spot that effortlessly captures the essence of Italian romance. Visitors can feel the pulse of history beneath their feet as they walk along the well-preserved cobbles. The atmosphere is serene, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon stroll or a quiet moment of reflection. What truly sets the Ponte Visconteo apart is its seamless integration with the natural beauty that surrounds it. The bridge acts as a gateway to Borghetto, inviting travelers to explore its narrow streets, rustic houses, and quaint cafes. It's a place where time seems to slow down, allowing you to savor every moment. Whether you're a history buff, a lover of architecture, or simply seeking a peaceful escape, the Ponte Visconteo is a must-visit destination. It's a place that captures the heart and leaves an indelible mark on your memory. In summary, the Ponte Visconteo is a hidden gem that deserves every bit of admiration it receives. Its beauty is beyond words, and a visit here is an experience you'll cherish forever.

Castle
Castello Scaligero di Valeggio sul Mincio is a historical castle located on top of a hill behind Borghetto. The typical dish in this area is the Tortellino di Valeggio, a thin golden pastry filled with fragrant braised meat, handmade according to tradition. Another must-try is the Torta delle Rose, a soft cake made with leavened dough rich in butter and sugar, rolled and arranged in the shape of rosebuds.
You can tour the outside of the castle during regular hours any day of the week. To go inside and climb around on the castle, you must pay and it’s during the weekend and holidays. Great views!
Kathleen H — Google review
This ruins of the small castle is nice to go to. However there is not so much to see. The view however is good. You also get a feeling why this spot was so important throughout history. This is where the most important crossing of the river was.
Matthias F — Google review
Not much of the castle remains. It's got an ok view, but if you go out of season (I think before late March) the tower (which i think is the real attraction) is closed. The old bridge across the river to the castle and Borghetto is cool and we thought the borghetto itself was a lot more charming and interesting than the castle remains themselves. But certainly a neat place worth a stop. There are several other castles in a near-ish vicinity as well that may be worth exploring.
Richard — Google review
Pretty nice ruined castle with some interesting information. There's not much to do beyond going up the tower, which to get to from Borghetto is quite a walk up a steep path.
Tim W — Google review
The castle itself is not that special but the view from up the tower is very beautiful. It’s cheap so I highly recommend walking up the tower for the landscape. You get a nice view on the nearby town and the river.
Hajnalka K — Google review
I castle on top of the hill behind Borghetto . You can park outside the village and walk the stairs up to the castle. Nice castle to visit and pay 2 euros to go inside the tower. You get a very nice view to take pictures from. Worth the short walk up there
Per E — Google review
From afar it doesn't look that great. Granted we did no go close or even want to go inside. However I believe it offers great views of the region from the tower.
Paul H — Google review
Nice place with a good view over borghetto and area. Have in mind that the opening times might not be correct. It closes 2025-09 at 6 pm and not 7 pm as mentioned on google.

Ecological park
Nature & Parks
Parco Giardino Sigurtà is a stunning natural masterpiece that captivates visitors with its serene beauty. Nestled near the historic center of Valeggio sul Mincio, this expansive park spans over 60 hectares and is recognized as one of the most beautiful gardens in Italy and Europe. It features lush green lawns, vibrant flower gardens, and ancient trees that create an enchanting atmosphere.
We visited the park in April, right when the tulips were in bloom. The grounds are large, impeccably kept, and almost surreal. There are several distinct areas—including a farm, a hedge maze, and even a small castle—so you can easily spend a few hours wandering around. Bike rentals are available if you’d rather ride than walk. One tip: we found that tickets purchased through general travel sites were actually cheaper than on the park’s official website.

Parco Giardino Sigurtà is a breathtaking botanical paradise nestled near Lake Garda in Valeggio sul Mincio. A Garden Wonderland Spanning over 60 hectares, this meticulously maintained park offers a vibrant display of nature's beauty, making it one of Italy’s most stunning garden destinations. With highlights like the famous Avenue of Roses, stretching over a kilometer with 30,000 blooming roses, and the enchanting Tulipanomania, a springtime spectacle featuring over a million tulips in bloom. The Labyrinth, scenic water gardens, ancient trees, and serene lily-covered ponds add to the park’s magical charm. Whether you explore by foot, bicycle, or golf cart, Sigurtà invites calm and wonder at every turn. It’s perfect for families, photographers, or anyone seeking peace in a lush, floral setting. A visit here feels like stepping into a living painting — peaceful, colorful, picturesque, and unforgettable.
Fred S — Google review
A beautiful botanical park not far from the southern part of Lake Garda. We visited in early June 2025. The park is lush with greenery, butterflies, and birds. It’s highly recommended to take the small train tour that runs through the park. The ride lasts about 35 minutes and circles the entire park, giving you a sense of its size and helping you decide which areas you'd like to explore on foot. Some of the highlights include a Japanese garden, a plant maze, an herb and butterfly garden, an educational farm, and more. We spent about three wonderful hours there — you could easily spend even more. Be sure to bring a bottle of water, as it can get quite hot during the day, even in June. Convenient parking is available about 250 meters north of the park entrance, in the supermarket parking lot.
David F — Google review
Beautiful park and great family outing We went on a family trip to Parco Giardino Sigurtà and had a lovely day. We enjoyed a picnic in the gardens and drove around in a small golf cart, which the kids absolutely loved. The park is stunning and very well maintained – perfect for a relaxing day in nature. It is a bit on the expensive side though; we paid around 720 DKK for one golf cart for 2.5 hours. Highly recommended!
Rasmus M — Google review
Amazing botanical garden, an absolute must see if you are in the area. Good paths to walk on, however, since the park is so big, there's also an option to rent a bike or golfkart. We rented a gokfkart, which is very convenient with small children.
Hilbert T — Google review
Huge gardens with ponds, maze, castels, and other scenic beauties... Can spend days over there. Electric bikes and golf carts are available to rent.
David N — Google review
The park itself is beautiful, but €46 for 2 adults and 2 kids is way too much considering the experience. Many attractions were closed, the park felt empty, and there wasn't much to do. It's a nice place to walk around, but with so little open, it should cost no more than €5 per person.
Marcin S — Google review
Beautiful place with amazing flowers. You can spend the entire day there. Bicycles are recommended, too bad they are not suitable for all ages.

Nestled in the charming town of Valeggio, Alla Borsa is a delightful family-run restaurant that beautifully marries rustic charm with chic decor. Known for its expertly crafted tortellini, particularly the Nodo d'Amore filled with savory meat, this eatery offers a culinary experience that celebrates local flavors. Diners rave about the exquisite dishes and attentive service, making it an ideal spot for families and food enthusiasts alike.
Impeccable service and food! The staff is super friendly and gives attention to the tiniest of details. The food is yummy, melts in your mouth. We had Bruschetta, Tortellini, Panna cotta, and dessert of the day which was pudding with coffee. We’d give them all a 10/10.
Salma R — Google review
We go out of our way to visit Alla Borsa in Vallegio sul Muncie. Known for their tortellini, I highly recommend ordering their Trio option where the bring three successive servings of their melt in your mouth handmade tortellini. It is fantastic. Dress up a bit to dine inside in their main dining room. Or go more casual in their outside seating where no one frowns on shorts and a t-shirt. The staff is super attentive and kind. This multi-generation family run restaurant is a must if you’re in the area!
Meredith J — Google review
The atmosphere and decor is nice. The food was good as well. Nothing we havn’t had before, but we enjoyed it one of our two dishes. The tortetti verdi di ricotta e spinaci with butter and sage was very good. The pumpkin/zucca was okay. Unfortunately my experience was sort of ruined by the waiter misunderstanding our order. I asked about the couple “la coppia” - if we could pick different dishes. He said no. So I said no that’s ok, and so we then picked two dishes to order. Somehow, he thought I wanted la coppia (not sure why - cost more and you only get two flavors). We did not realize this as he did not confirm our order back to us - he confirmed the tortelli flavors but never confirmed la coppia, so when we go to pay, I saw it on the bill (it’s almost 20 more euro even though it’s only two flavors) and tried to contest it, but he simply said “no”. No room for asking questions or arguing. Simply no. He simply could not be wrong. Won’t come back again. The food was not anything “special”, at least for those that live here like us.

The best food. Very high end. Clean and delicious! Great Italian restaurant experience! You will love it!

Fantastic place! Service was great, everyone is very friendly, everything came fast (not as if they were trying to hurry you though). The vegetarian lasagna, the green tortellini, and the polenta with mushrooms were absolutely delicious. The mille feuille with strawberries were a dream. Would certainly return!! 🙏🏼😍
Lahav C — Google review
A beautiful family run restaurant. The most delicious tortellini we’ve ever had, we went for selection of three different tortellini. Delicious flavours and beautiful texture. Our children also really loved the tagletelle ragu. I would definitely recommend a detour to this restaurant if you are in the area.

This place was one of the best things about Italy. The carpaccios, milanzane, the Lambrusco wine, the mustardo...and the three type of tortellini we tried, they all were fantastically executed. If you are in the area, this place is a must visit!

The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between modern comfort and classic charm, enhanced by a lovely leafy terrace that invites you to relax while enjoying your meal.
This place is a gem. The food is phenomenal and reasonably priced. Staff is warm and friendly and the garden seating is shady and creates a wonderfully relaxing ambiance.

I feel so grateful for this experience. It was everything I need and desire from dining. Italian table culture at its finest. Tortellini, just balanced with emphasised ingredients in ideal ratio and right texure and seemingly so simple but just delicious. Tartar and roast beef INSANELY good. Umami level was through the roof. And everything so unpretentios and natural, wasy going, with some excellent choices of local wines of course. Huge love!

Super nice and thoughtful service who spoke perfect English! they payed a lot of attention to our needs and were eager to give advice on the food. The menu was even available in German. The pasta itself was very delicious, tasted fresh and very special. We tried four different desserts and all of them were amazing as well! The atmosphere is cozy, modern mixed with traditional, a lot of light. We will come here next year again!

Gluten free tortellini. Is there any thing else I need to say? Delicious, perfectly cooked, great price value and an excellent service. They have great daily menus as well - and their wine was delicious and perfectly paired the tortellini (I had Lugana). Please note that if you are dairy intolerant there might be less options for you - you can ask the waiters though to prepare the dish differently.

Nestled in the heart of Valeggio, Ristorante Bue D'Oro is a delightful haven for travelers seeking a peaceful dining experience. With its warm and welcoming staff, this charming eatery serves up an array of delectable dishes, including traditional cuisine and fresh seafood options. It's particularly accommodating for those with dietary restrictions, offering gluten-free and vegan choices that cater to various palates.
Today is the second day of my cycling tour in Italy. I left Lake Garda headed south and I wanted to find a nice place to rest and eat. The homestay that I was staying at recommended this place as the best place to get a bite to eat for dinner. So I went straight here after a shower and I can honestly say it has not been disappointing. The staff here is very friendly. The venue itself is immaculate, and the food only steps it up from there. I decided to get the tortellini and it was really clean and tasty. I say clean because as an American, I typically get more creamy sauce in my pasta whereas here the tortellini was more oil based and less creamy. So it had a cleaner flavor. After I finished the tortellini, I got a second dish which was something about a limousine. I’m sorry my Italian is bad. But it was a piece of steak that would go toe to toe with what I would have at a fancy American restaurant or maybe even better. It came out on a sizzling skillet with radish sizzling with a few strips of zucchini. I was actually stuffed from the tortellini but I found room for this and thankfully I did. You can control the cooking surface of the griddle by covering up the burner at the time that you think the steak is cooked properly. I left it at a medium rare.

Giardini di Borghetto is a well-kept and charming restaurant located on the outskirts of Borghetto. The atmosphere is laid back with 80s soft rock music, creating an indie sheek vibe. Guests can choose to sit inside or outside and enjoy quality food, including excellent tortelli and cured meats. The restaurant offers a Mamma cooking class where visitors can make their own tortellini while sipping delicious local wine.
We did a Mamma cooking class today with our lovely Mamma Ivana & her daughter Serena. Entertaining & informative, we loved the experience. Eating your own hand made Tortellini with bread & vegetarian options available, whilst drinking delicious local wine was truly superb. A great experience with lovely hosts in an incredibly beautiful setting & village. Thank you 😊 😘 Jane

Don’t get fooled by the old photos, this restaurant is beautiful and mediterranean modern. The owner, who does his own walnut liquor (highly recommended after the dinner) and the staff are one of a kind. Super friendly and welcoming. They try to help you with everything that you might ask. Speaking about the food, we had almost every tortellini on the menu and you could really taste the love that goes into them. 10/10, we will definitely come back and recommend it to everyone in the area. The only small „negative“ might be, that the restaurant itself is close to a street, so every now and then you hear some cars or motorbikes passing by, but you don’t really notice them. Thank you for the lovely evening and hopefully see you soon!

I was here with my wife, where we had one plate of tortellini and one plate of spaghetti carbonara, both for sharing. The tortellini is the best we have ever tasted. They really know how to make this! But the spaghetti carbonara was unfortunately the worst we have ever tasted. It was full of egg lumps, and it basically felt like eating cooked spaghetti mixed with scrambled eggs. You can see the egg lumps in the picture. We told the waitress that the tortellini was perfect, but the carbonara tasted like scrambled eggs and showed her the egg lumps. But she said that this is how a carbonara is made in Italy, and since we are from Norway we do not know the correct way of making a carbonara. Unfortunately her arrogant attitude ruined this experience for me.
