Gastropub
Nestled in a converted farm steading near Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, The Birds & Bees is a popular gastropub offering a cozy and modern ambiance. The charming white-washed cottage exterior leads to a beautifully decorated interior with plush leather couches, stone walls, and fireplaces. The menu features an array of British and international dishes, including chicken ecosse and spicy Mexican beef chili.
We chose the Birds and Bees for our wedding reception party and it was amazing! The venue is beautiful and so spacious and we had so many compliments from our guests. We had a fabulous meal and the buffet & party in the evening was perfect. We had such a lovely time and Danny and the team were so accommodating. Thank you so much for all your help. I highly recommend!

Great dining experience. Great cross between a traditional restaurant and a more modern one. I hade the steak pie and my wife had the salmon. Both were perfect. Atmosphere was eclectic farm. Food is traditional with a twist of modern. Only complaint would be the drinks were a bit light on alcohol.
Travis H — Google review
Beautiful scenic location in the countryside with eclectic decor on the inside. The food was exceptional, the mango avocado salsa was a surprise favorite all around the table. Salmon was the juiciest I've ever had, with a wonderful crusty sear on the outside. Not pictured is the Banoffee Slice which was absolutely decadent, I'm seriously going to have dreams about it. Also a table favorite. Service was just okay, but the food made up for it. Can't wait to go back!

We booked The Birds and Bees months in advance and I was actually a little surprised when I showed up and my name was on the list. The staff seemed a little busy and tired but Scotland in general appears to have had a long summer of tourism and it's a bit understandable. The food here is fantastic and it's obviously a favorite among locals. Great atmosphere and very comforting. We would certainly return

We were here on Saturday lunch and the restaurant was quite busy. However, the service was fast and efficient. We had sirloin medium which cooked to perfection. Chicken parmigiana was great, melted cheese and chicken was juicy and tender. Fries can be better, we think it’s not flavourful. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Nice decor too.

This is a truly one of a kind pub/restaurant the food, decore and staff make it incredibly memorable! We were lucky enough to be served by Katy who attentive, personable and lovely the whole time! We treated ourselves to a spread of the starters and this was a brilliant choice it was a hearty amount of food all as lovely as the rest! We highly recommend the haggis, smoked salmon and sweet potato fries! Thank you all again a lovely meal made better by great staff!

We visited the Birds and Bees on Sunday for lunch to celebrate my birthday. We needed somewhere dog friendly for our two Bostons and we're so glad we found this lovely place. We had two Sunday roasts and a chicken dish and it was delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection and the yorkies did not disappoint. Desert was also unreal, we ordered sticky toffee pudding, Banoffee Pie and they even managed to find a cheeky Apple Crumple for me! As well as the lovely food, what really stood out was the service. Every single member of staff we spoke to was so lovely. They were attentive, professional but also warm and inviting, it really was incrediable service and for that, we'll definitely be back!

We had an absolutely amazing experience celebrating our July Summer wedding at The Birds and Bees! If you’re thinking about a wedding here, do it! Danny was fantastic from start to finish, tailoring a package that suited our needs perfectly. We explained that we just wanted a nice small event, nothing grand (it got bigger than we had planned) but nothing was ever too much hassle for him or the team. We genuinely felt like everyone there wanted to make the day as special as possible for us — and it truly was. Our wedding was four months ago and we’re still not over how incredible the day was. Our guests are constantly telling us how much they enjoyed it and how much it suited who we are as a couple, and that’s thanks to the team for bringing our ideas to life. The atmosphere was relaxed but still classy, the venue looked stunning, and there were plenty of beer choices at very reasonable bar prices — everyone was delighted! The food was also brilliant. We went for a more casual style with burgers, chips and nuggets, and it went down an absolute treat. There was plenty for everyone, and the team made sure all dietary needs were catered for, including gluten intolerances and nut allergies. Everyone felt included and well looked after. We also had a rainstorm on the day and had originally planned to be outside. The team acted so quickly, rearranging everything seamlessly. Danny updated me early while I was getting ready, which gave me time to adjust to the change — and honestly, the indoor setup turned out absolutely beautiful.- it was a bit of a squeeze for our large family, but the team made it work. We couldn’t recommend The Birds and Bees enough. Thank you so much to Danny and the whole team for making our day so memorable and special — it was everything we hoped for and more.

Restaurant
Located just a short distance from Stirling Castle, River House Stirling offers a picturesque waterfront setting with stunning views through its floor-to-ceiling windows. The restaurant features a contemporary atmosphere with sleek leather seats and bright blue walls, creating the perfect backdrop for enjoying their seasonal fare and traditional British classics. Guests can also indulge in afternoon tea at Bobbys lounge without needing to make a reservation.
Came across this place by accident visiting Stirling and wow, we were blown away. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, the staff were so attentive, friendly and accommodating, the breakfast we had, 2 days in a row, was just delicious 😋 I was so impressed by the young staff that work there, they do a excellent job at looking after the place and the customers. The Christmas decorations were just gorgeous. Absolutely highly recommend this place and we will definitely visit every time we are in the area again.

Simply overpriced and very pretentious for what it is.... Our experience here was rather underwhelming, the setting is gorgeous and the decor is lovely BUT the food is really what let things down, to start Haggis Pakora really was delicious, fresh and very well presented however the main was disappointing. The Steak Sandwich was to be honest something I'd struggle to serve my dog, asked for medium rare steak, it showed up well done and presentation was terrible for a main that was around the £16 mark I expected more. For tea, a coffee, two mains and two starters we paid over £76 and didn't feel it was worth the very high price tag.

Lots of mixed reviews here. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Place is beautiful inside. However service (while efficient) was just very impersonal and quick. PROS: Space is beautiful If you want a fast meal this is it Space is beautiful CONS -Wife ordered chicken (gluten free) and said it was under seasoned and over cooked. -I got the lasagna. It was overcooked and very oily. -My son ate 1 of his kids tomato noodles and we ended up getting food elsewhere for him. -Smaller servings So many positive reviews so maybe we ordered the wrong dishes?
Spencer T — Google review
The mixed reviews on this place are fair. We didn’t book but got a table straight away inside next to the water and the atmosphere was beautiful. The food was tasty but overpriced. We also mentioned having an allergy and they were very cautious of that which was good. The service was not amazing, more specifically the waitress who served us was a little too casual/ unprofessional. We got there about 3pm on a Sunday and wanted a Sunday roast but were told that was unavailable as they had sold out of the ingredients?? It’s a Sunday and the restaurant closes at 11pm- how have they not prepared for this dish? We thought that was silly.

A hidden treasure of a Restaurant in lovely surroundings with a small Lochin and fountain in the grounds. Plenty of seating in this restaurant. Attentive service and the food is of a very good standard.

This is how you run a successful business. Place packed, lots of quick and intelligent staff and the food is pretty nice. There isn't enough parking and the prices are high for what you get, but because the place is packed then the higher prices are something they can easily apply without losing customers. So I can't fault that as a business strategy. Effort has been made to have the interior look very pleasant and the atmosphere in here is good with no riff raff.
Richy H — Google review
First time I've ever sent food back... Twice! Ordered the £20 ragu rigatoni for lunch, which was clearly microwaved pasta swimming in unseasoned tomato water. Asked the waiter (great service by the way no complaints there!) for a replacement curry dish, and I got a watery curry absolutely covered in black pepper in return. Lovely setting but don't think I'll be back.
Amy M — Google review
Had a very special celebratory meal for 10 in the private dining area two days ago which was discussed with the manager Mark a few weeks before. On the day the room was set up beautifully. The service was outstanding with very attentive staff who were friendly, polite and yet unobtrusive as they saw to our every need. Everyone enjoyed their food and the ambiance of the room. The staff went above and beyond normal service and we would highly recommend private dining at this venue for any special occasion.

Pub
The Riverside - Pub, Kitchen & Coffee House in Dunblane, Stirlingshire offers a delightful dining experience with its extensive menu and friendly staff. The restaurant provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making guests feel like old friends. The location is perfect for enjoying amazing food and a good selection of beers. The slow-braised shin of Scottish beef is particularly recommended for its delicious taste and tender texture. Additionally, the establishment offers ample seating both inside and outside, catering to various preferences.
The Riverside feels like a treat. The atmosphere feels friendly and relaxed and welcoming to all. At one table there was a woman breast feeding the other a group of university professors discussing their business. The staff were attentive but did not crowd you which is always a bonus. The food- you have various menus- regular, gluten free vegetarian and vegan all with dishes I wanted to sample. The food came out and was not too long and of a wait and came out some of tbe best food I have eaten in a while. My partner and I are already discussing a return visit!

We went on Monday and Wednesday, we had two completely oposite experience in food and service. Monday the tomato sup, macaroni chess and croquettes all was very nice and testy the home made fries was one of the best ever tasted, perfectly fried. Wednesday we came back to eat the fries, sadly the fries was more boiled than fried, and half of the bread with cheese and garlic oil was burn that make eating not nice. I need to said if first time was an experiment to remember, second time I can’t said the same.

We just found The Riverside on Google and it was such a great surprise! The food was delicious with really generous portions, and the team went above and beyond to make sure we got their amazing 20% main course offer (which they run Monday–Thursday 4-8pm). It was busy when we arrived, so we said we could sit at the bar, but as soon as a table became free they moved us straight away. Really nice atmosphere too - especially in the evening with the fire and candles on every table. Totally recommend!

Arrived as a group for dinner on a Monday evening and we were shown to our table (we booked before). Decent choice of food and drinks. I chose their vegan burger (served with chips and their own slightly sweet sauce). The portion size wasn’t overly large and people with a bigger appetite might need something more, but was perfect for me.

Great place to stop and have lunch at! Very cozy and welcoming atmosphere to eat here while exploring the town. Soup of the Day was fabulous as well along with the Soup deal they have. Fine dining restaurant
The Kailyard restaurant at the Hydro offers a pleasant dining experience with a variety of delicious dishes. The staff provide excellent customer service and are accommodating to requests, ensuring guests feel comfortable in their chosen seating area. The food is highly recommended, with a wide range of options prepared to perfection. Overall, it is a fine dining establishment by Nick Nairn that impresses both in terms of taste and service.
Dinner was absolutely brilliant. We got the 2 courses at £31. Service was great. Food was sensational. Would highly recommend the duck and the chicken with peppercorn sauce. We ate in the hotel bar and here. Both restaurants are good but this is a level above for something special.
Stephen S — Google review
Nick Nairn is a Scottish celebrity chef. He became the youngest Scottish chef to win a Michelin star in the early 1990s, and after that he must have given up or he was having a bad day when I was there. We had really high expectations for our dinner being foodies ourselves and to be really honest I’ve never been so let down, first of all the waiter put us at a table in direct sunlight, my wife couldn’t see across the table it was so bright, the back of my neck was burning to be honest the waiter should have known better but when all the waiters are part time young workers with no experience and no maitre d' around to run and organize the hall that’s what you get. At the table another disappointment the chairs are old, faded and haven’t been cleaned in years the varnish was peeling off the top of the table, now being a Michelin star chef menu restaurant you would surely expect a waiter to explain the whole menu and the specials you’d also expect a wine sommelier to come over offer a drink and wine explanation that didn’t happen. The food, my wife ordered a smoked salmon and prawn dish and I ordered the roasted beets, now my dish was ok just lacking flavor my wife’s dish was placed on top of her napkin the waiter just sort of dumped it there so unprofessional and the dish looked like something from the 1960’s and 70’s a very old fashioned looking prawn cocktail that you would make at home with enough cocktail sauce to drown the whole prawn population I was seriously surprised not something I would expect to see from a Michelin star chef, the main dish, 1 cod and 1 chicken dish, now these looked great very modern plating, nice contrast but that’s as far as it went the fish had no seasoning just a really salted skin the couscous was salty with no other flavors coming out, the chicken was cooked perfectly but all I could taste was a little bit of liver from the haggis filling and salt no other flavors at all. The desserts again looked good, modern plating and to be honest tasted good. Overall the place looked old unclean and worn out the waiters like robots with no hospitality skills and a kitchen that doesn’t really care about the customer food experience a really disappointing experience from a Michelin starred chef menu restaurant.

I have not been here in years & really enjoyed it once again, all the produce is of high quality, had the full English & couldn't really find a fault, the coffee machine is a bit temperamental, but that's my only fault.
Peek A — Google review
Christ almighty, don't go here. Nick Nairn should be VERY ashamed of this place. Very disappointed in all honesty. We love trying new places and new foods. Starters were very nice, we had the terrine and the beetroot. Mains very disappointing. Roast was one little carrot with some lamb and mashed potatoes, hardly any jus at all so dry. I had the gnocchi, it honestly tasted like someone had spilled half a salt shaker of salt into it. Couldn't have more than a few bites. Aside from an apology from the waitress there was nothing done about it than it being taken away. So we left. Staff also kept incessantly asking whether we needed anything far too often, interrupting two or three times per course, which was irritating. The bag of salt should be taken away from the chef and staff should be educated. I have complained to the manager.
Arja E — Google review
I suppose I expected a seperate small restaurant for nick nairn but in fact it is also the main restaurant for the hotel. It is a large hotel and so a large dining area which gives the restaurant a slightly soulless feel. The food was good and we enjoyed it but there were some coach parties in and the kitchen was obviously stretched. As a result the presentaion of the main courses was rushed. The service was very good and compensated for the other niggles. Overall very good value for money, avoid coach party nights and get a window seat.
Charles M — Google review
We all had a nice evening the food was absolutely delicious!!!! the staff were very nice too. I noticed some of the furniture in the dining area had quite bad stains on the material but apart from that the place was very nice, nice clean toilets although the automatic taps did not work however, the other row of manual taps worked fine. It is a stunning building and the sun set was breathtaking! My parents had their honeymoon here over 50 years ago! It was lively and quite busy but the staff were friendly and very helpful. I like places where they know about coeliac disease and the staff seemed to understand the importance of that! I can’t wait to visit again… xEx

The Kailyard Nick Nairn by the DoubleTree Dunblane was the perfect meal to finish out my time in Scotland. Thanks to my server Craig for the great suggestions. I ordered the smoked salmon as a starter which was light and a great place to begin. The salmon was not overpowering, which I’ve had before, and served over a fresh thin slice of rye. For the main course I ordered the red braised beef daube which was fantastic. The beef easily fell apart and mixed with the mash was wonderful. I also got an old fashioned but with Balvenie Doublewood 12 instead of Woodford Resevere- a much better choice especially in Scotland! If you’re over in the Stirling area of Scotland, you need to eat here.

I recently dined at The Village Inn and had a truly delightful experience. The meal I chose was the curry of the day, specifically the Korma, which was incredibly delicious. My wife, who is quite knowledgeable about Steak pies, ordered one and rated it as the best she has ever tasted. The staff at The Village Inn were exceptionally attentive and the prices were very reasonable.
Had a great visit. Arrived on a busy afternoon (2 January) for some lunch and to watch football. Got seated quickly and service was prompt by a lovely waitress who regularly checked in with us and provided top ups. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon made even better by the another visitor, a georgous Jack Russell "Bella".

We enjoyed two meals here, indeed we purposefully came back the second night because we enjoyed our meal and because the atmosphere was great, plus the staff were really friendly, particularly on our first evening (Mon 10 March 25). As a vegetarian, I had a good choice though I particularly enjoyed the veggie burger, my husband had scampi one night and a chicken dish the next. The prices were good too. Would certainly recommend and visit again!

Had dinner here, roast beef dinner and steak pie. The food was amazing. Meat was so tender and the gravy, well, it was better than my sisters and that's a big ask Reasonable prices and plenty of it. Will definitely be back Do I have room for dessert? Rude not to

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Dunblane Cathedral, located just a few miles north of Stirling, is a 13th-century architectural marvel with stunning stained glass windows and a carved wooden pulpit adorned with figures. This historic site has undergone restoration and remains an active church for the local community. Visitors can explore its interesting history and take part in a kids' quiz while admiring its beauty. Although the cathedral closes for lunch, it offers wheelchair access for those with mobility issues.
This is a must-see place to visit. Full of history and the architecture is amazing. The whole package is incredible. Once finished head to Doune or just wander the village.

Very interesting building. Don't like churches taking money for entry so here you can make a payment or not its up to the visitor which is good. The history is amazing and the carvings are phenomenal. The monument to the Dunblane children and teacher just makes the heart ache.
I D — Google review
Dunblane Cathedral is one of those places that feels instantly peaceful the moment you walk in. Surrounded by trees and tucked just off the High Street, it’s a stunning mix of medieval stonework and quiet beauty. The building dates back to the 12th century, and inside you can still see centuries of craftsmanship in the carved stone arches, stained-glass windows, and intricate wooden ceiling. We took our time wandering through, reading the plaques and soaking up the calm atmosphere. Even for those who aren’t especially into architecture, it’s hard not to be moved by how serene and beautifully preserved it is. The small graveyard and gardens around the cathedral are just as lovely — especially on a sunny day when the light hits the old stone. Dunblane itself is a charming little town, and the cathedral is easily its most memorable landmark — peaceful, powerful, and well worth a visit.

A fantastic walk back in time to the tumultuous times of the 13th Century. Clement, bishop of Dunblane commenced construction of the cathedral in 1237 You can see how time has eroded these hallowed walls. Yes, if only they could talk The beauty of the Cathedral architecture is breathtaking. I was privileged to sing briefly, in Latin in the ancient belltower. The acoustics were astounding. This is a magical place with a lovely park and River walk adjacent to the cathedral which is situated in a square at the end of the town main st. Entrance is free but please do leave a donation to preserve this historic place.👍😏

A truly hidden gem. This castle holds so much history, goes all the way back to the 1300s you could even hear Robert the Bruce. It went through the reformation. It also contains a memorial for the children of the 1997 massacre, RIP dear children. Walking to the church, you can hear the river rushing down. Parking is free but limited.

The National Wallace Monument is a grand Victorian stone tower dedicated to the memory of William Wallace, featuring his iconic 2-handed sword. It was constructed in the 19th century as a symbol of Scottish national pride and pays homage to Sir William Wallace, a revered figure from Scotland's War for Independence. Visitors can ascend over 240 steps to reach observation platforms and explore exhibitions about the monument and its historical significance.
Beautiful place, views and reminds bit of Lord of the rings to top of the tower. Need comfy shoes to get to it. Has free parking, nice place to go for a walk around too. Has some wooden sculptures on the way aswell. Bit of a steep walk but has small buss service that takes to the top, cafe near parking. Also available free toilet in the Monument. Welcoming staff.

This monument is certainly a must see in the Stirling area. There is a lot of convenient parking for your visit and a nice cafe and gift shop at the base of the hill beside the parking area. After parking, head up the trail that starts around the right hand side of the building - you don't need to go inside as the tickets for the monument are bought when you get to the top. There are two paths that literally run beside each other and connect around halfway up. The more natural path has some carvings to look at as you go through. Depending on your fitness level, the path to the top may be a bit strenuous - take your time and there are a few rest spots. There is also a great viewing platform and rest area outside of the main tower entrance. There is one bathroom for all patrons in the monument tower, so this can be a bit inconvenient. Use the bathroom down below before heading up hahahaha. Depending on the time and day you go, this visit will likely vary greatly. There is only the original narrow spiral stone staircase to go up and down. Although there are a lot of stairs, you can stop at the different floors with great displays - historical video, display boards, the Wallace Sword, and sculptures. Resting on each floor is also a good way to let the "traffic" pass. You can only hope you don't arrive at the same time as tour buses - ouch. Make your way to the top to get an incredible 360 of the area - including the Battle of Stirling Bridge. A great piece of history, with great relics. Thanks for the amazing visit.

Enjoyed our visit to the monument, we walked up the hill and took the free shuttle back down. A lot of very tight curved circular stairs to reach the 2 information areas and finally the top level which has great views over the battlefield area. We had a beautiful clear day , sometimes if it's misty you don't see much! There's one toilet at the monument, but plenty down at the visitor centre, where there is a souvenir shop and a café. We , my 2 boys, wife and myself enjoyed our visit. Check final times for buying your ticket to go up the monument, it finishes 45 minutes? Before closing time at 17:00, (check that online)

Amazing location to visit. It is very nostalgic and a beautiful view over the land of Scotland where it is located and what a guy William was. A must to visit if you are in Scotland. It will impress you when you pull into the car park. A very nice restaurant there also with a kite impressive gift shop.

Really pretty! We went there to see the sunrise, but the sun rises on the other side…. Nevertheless, it was really beautiful and a really good walk in the morning. The pathway was closed due to maintenance but you can go through the road, just need to be extra careful.

Carpark at bottom (limited spaces ) also has a shuttle bus for those who need a lift to the top only the shuttle bus can do this no cars allowed. Cafe and toilets at the bottom in the carpark. Once you set off you have a map with different routes depending on your fitness level or time frame, once at the top ypu can see the stunning views and the tower you can pay to enter the tower or just enjoy the views from the outside

Scottish history at its finest… I’ve been to the monument a couple of times now and still can’t get enough of it! It has a strong story about how Scotland was or wanted to be in the times of William Wallace, good story and the views are unbelievable a must see when visiting the area

A great experience for anyone interested in the history of the Scottish independence movement. Equally worthwhile if you just want to take in the amazing views from the tower. I also really appreciated the range of family ticket options, recognising that not all families are nuclear.
