Located in Weil am Rhein, Germany, the Vitra Design Museum is a striking white building designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry. It is part of the Vitra Campus, which includes furniture factories, offices, showrooms, and galleries. The museum showcases a collection of furniture and lighting designs from iconic architects such as Eames, Nelson, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Isamu Noguchi.
Really enjoyed my visit — a beautiful and inspiring place! I didn’t have enough time to explore the whole campus, but it definitely left me wanting to come back. The restaurant was also a pleasant surprise with a tasty menu, and the free parking 🅿️ is a big plus. Looking forward to returning soon!

Beautiful first European Commission by Frank Ghery. The building is not very big but it’s an asymmetrical jewel that changes every few steps. Don’t miss out the opportunity to check the interior and visit one of the interesting design exhibitions that it holds.

My life is complete! Visiting the Vitra Design Museum was an absolute bucket list and it delivered!! An abolsutely sensational showcase of interior design and furniture. Just make sure you remember to take a mat BEFORE climbing up the slide tower (unlike us)! The only problem is that it was impossible to get an Uber back to our hotel in Basel, and it was very difficult getting a taxi back! You're best to ask the staff to assist with this (I wished we did).

I had a fantastic day at the VITRA Campus and enjoyed touring the entire facility along with the architecture tour. Great to see so many VITRA and Artek products on display and I particularly liked the designer showcase. Our guide was fantastic as was morning coffee and lunch. A day really well spent for lovers of design, quality furniture & architecture! The on site flagship store is also a good spot to look at small accessories and books. 10/10

The Vitra Design Museum has some impressive buildings designed by renowned architects, but beyond that, I found the museum itself to be underwhelming. The gift shop's prices felt steep for the items offered, which seemed more focused on selling the prestige of the museum rather than showcasing truly unique products.
Soran M — Google review
The Vitra Design Museum is a stunning destination for anyone passionate about architecture and design. The entire site is a visual and intellectual delight, showcasing decades of Vitra’s innovation and creativity. Walking through the museum and its surrounding buildings is like stepping into a living archive of design history, constantly evolving with new ideas and exhibitions. It’s inspiring to see how Vitra continues to push boundaries while honoring its rich legacy.

Definitely recommend a visit if you are interested in design and architecture. Easy 30 min bus trip from Basel Claraplatz. The Vitra house showroom was undergoing a renovation but everything was open. A tour around the campus is a must if you have time.

Corporate campus
Vitra Campus in Weil-am-Rhein is a remarkable collection of furniture factories, offices, showrooms, and galleries designed by iconic architects. The Vitra Design Museum, an exceptional structure on the campus, was created by renowned architect Frank Gehry. This serene white building represents a crossroads for Gehry's signature style. Another notable addition to the campus is the VitraHaus, designed by Basel-based architects Herzog & de Meuron in 2006.
I loved the architecture of all the buildings, from the Vitra Haus with its current shop and home designs, the museum and the Schaudepot. The slide is an awesome addition, as is the garden with its wild flowers. Even the food at the cafe was tasty, including the cakes. It's a great stop to and from Switzerland! Check the times for the architecture tour if you're interested in it, especially for visiting the fire station as you can only get it with a tour.
Z — Google review
The Vitra Campus is an incredibly impressive site, showcasing works by some of the most renowned architects in the world. It stands as a testament to innovative design and its contributions to the architectural and design community are truly significant. From the sculptural forms of Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid to the refined craftsmanship of Herzog & de Meuron and the serene simplicity of Tadao Ando, the campus offers a diverse and inspiring journey through contemporary architecture. Its role in fostering a global appreciation for design is undeniable, making it a must-visit destination for architecture enthusiasts. That said, my experience with the architecture tour had some shortcomings: In Tadao Ando's building, we couldn’t access the conference area or the rooftop terrace because the guide said they didn’t have the key. Apparently, it’s sometimes available and sometimes not, but this explanation was unsatisfactory. Additionally, the guide didn’t point out the leaf-patterned concrete detail in this building. Later research revealed its existence, and not seeing it was disappointing. For many structures, we could only view them from the outside. For example, remarks like “You can peek inside through the glass windows of X building” left me feeling unsatisfied with the tour. We were able to enter SANAA’s warehouse building, which was a nice experience despite photography being prohibited inside. Unfortunately, we couldn’t access Grimshaw’s buildings. Zaha Hadid’s Fire Station was part of the tour, and it was truly impressive. However, Renzo Piano’s structure wasn’t even mentioned. Even though the tour is limited to two hours, I believe it should at least provide an overview of all the buildings on the campus so visitors can explore further on their own afterward. Preferably, necessary measures should be taken to unlock certain areas for a more comprehensive experience.
Ozge U — Google review
Cool design hub. The architecture is very cool and the guided tour was informative. The slide was closed, despite being within the open hours, this was disappointing. The campus is quite large and does a good job showcasing artistic design, but the entire place insists upon itself. I suggest being into modern architecture and design for it to be worthwhile.
Andrew P — Google review
The Vitra Campus is a really inspiring place to be. We took the guided which I highly recommend as it gave us access to all of the interesting buildings and facilities. The cafe options are good and the design museum itself and Vitra haus were great.

Well worth the trouble to get to. Dino was lovely but they told us we'd see inside Ando building. We didn't. That was one main reason we did the tour. They should inform better or iffer discount. Our guide was incomprehensible. Even the native speakers couldn't get what she was saying.

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Laguna Badeland is a spacious aquatic center that features wave pools, flume rides, and a designated area for children to play in the water. The facility also boasts several types of saunas. The water quality is notably clean and the price of admission for a day ticket is reasonable. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and partake in picnics on the premises even during colder seasons when indoor spaces are used exclusively.
Great waterpark for kids with indoor and out door pools and slides, the outdoor are much better.. very clean and very nice staff. You must wear skinny bathing suits!!! otherwise you won't be allowed to go in the pool or use the slides!!!!
Eldad S — Google review
Went there during the weekend so it was quite busy. In general I thought it was a bit small but we still found it enjoyable. Thank you. I was surprised because the food was better than in most water parks! The only downside was the long long line .. Also one suggestion.. upstairs above the restaurant there were only 2 toddler highchairs close to the tables. Few extra ones are needed I think at least during the weekends when there are more people and more toddlers. Had to hold my toddler while eating which is not ideal.

So far I can recommend this place when you are in a budget you can also bring some food and drinks hope they stay like this 👍
MylifeinSwitzerland B — Google review
Great in and outdoor swimming and sauna area. Lots of nice pools also for little kids. Lots of fun with the pool that has a wave machine and the heated water. Kids loved it. Food is rather fast food-ish and could be improved a bit to integrate healthier options. Especially for kids. Prices are a bit high but it is worth it over all.
Ewa W — Google review
So, I'll start with the positives. First of all, I liked the food, it looked great and tasted great. I also liked the pools, they were clean, And despite the number of people, there was enough space to swim. The wave pool was also good. The staff were polite and nice. The only reason I gave it three stars was because of the slides. Firstly, on the blue hill where there are places to stand and take a rest, an incredible number of people gathered who collided with each other and this, in my opinion, is simply dangerous! There is no regulation The number of people on the slide! Also the second slide was also distinguished (the red one) There is a regulation of people, but the problem is that it only represents a light bulb, there is no one who would actually regulate how many people jump at one time! I saw four girls jump into this slide at the same time, although only one person could jump there, and the indicator that was supposed to show whether it was possible to jump worked with a Big delay! Another minus that I can note about the slides is that when I was going down the slide there was no pressure! This meant that I just got stuck halfway and tried to frantically Push yourself forward so that the next person doesn't crash into me! And the worst thing is that my mother went there and she has back problems, which is why the man and the child crashed right into her! Perhaps they specifically turned off the pressure so that people would not go down the slide. But then why weren't people sent there to tell them not to go down??? Although it is possible that there was a breakdown in the set and the staff simply noticed it too late, but in any case This is incredibly dangerous, I hope they take action.
Наталья Т — Google review
Great with kids, very clean and everything seems quite new. There was big area for little kids and three slides for bigger. Low entrance fee, only about 16€ per adult. Parking was 2€ for whole day.
Maija H — Google review
Great Combo prices for myself and my daughter. Excellent selection of pools and my daughter loved the kids labyrinth.
Maggie's A — Google review
No complains !! Extremely clean water. Ticket price (day ticket)is good. Food is good and not expensive. You can bring in your own food too (Picnic allowed)(even in winter when you're only indoors) A special mention should go out to the patient and polite management who replies ,here on Google maps, to all reviews of people who are ,for eg, simply not adhering the rules. It would be a good idea to have a big poster of the layout of the premises. I didn't know that I missed out half the place until it was too late. The mezzanine floor (above the restaurant) is dangerously slippery . The showers need to be replaced.

The park is home to a variety of local and exotic animals such as deer, goats, peacocks, wild boars, donkeys, ponies, guinea pigs and rabbits. It offers spacious enclosures and scenic walking trails for wildlife enthusiasts and families to enjoy.
Simple but beautiful park along with all animals inside the park. Free entry. The park is super clean. All rest room or toilet is free and still clean. Got chance to see wolf and touch the donkey 🫏. Nice.

A great family outting. Plenty of space to picnic and watch the animals in their habitats. If you don't want to bring your own food there's a restaurant available instead. Great walking trails ranging from a walk around the enclosures to crossing the bridge into a forest hike.

Animals have space to move around. Children love it and you can spend an hour or two walking round. Ice cream and cold drinks kept us cool and there are tables for a picnic 🧺
Susan S — Google review
Great way to spend a few hours. There was lots to see from insects to monkeys to donkeys to bison. Free admission . Lots of walks outwith the zoo area. You could easily spend a day exploring the area.
Evelyn L — Google review
This small zoo is located in the city of Basel. It is a really beautiful place. I went here on a winter weekend morning. The city bus can go directly to the entrance of the zoo, so the transportation is very convenient. It was still early when I went, so there were not many people. The little animals were leisurely here, and the surrounding environment was also beautiful. In winter, the leaves in the park turned yellow, making everything covered with Christmas colors. There is a small river next to the park, and the gurgling water is very beautiful in the cold and lonely environment of winter.
Joseph B — Google review
Amazing animal park and very well preserved. My kids loved it and we could really breathe fresh air! There is also a small "kiosk" for snacks, a small carrousek and a cool playground for big&small kids. Highly recommended for your child that don't stop to jump on the sofa!

Toy museum
Museums
Nestled in the heart of Basel, Switzerland, the Toy Worlds Museum Basel is a captivating attraction dedicated to the world of toys. Originally known as the Dollhouse Museum Basel, this enchanting museum boasts a vast collection of dolls, teddy bears, and miniature toy exhibits displayed across four floors. Established in 1996, it offers visitors a nostalgic journey through various eras and cultures with its charming exhibits and interactive displays.
We’ve got the Basel card which gave us 50% discount on adult tickets. Kids under 12yo - free admission. My son was given a tablet which gives an interactive child friendly explanation of the toy history etc. Clean washrooms, good floor layout, interactive areas - even for grownups. I enjoyed the lego animation. :) Overall, well worth your time and money.
Michelle S — Google review
This is an incredible museum with thousands of historical toys, especially Teddy bears, well worth to visit. The exhibition is displayed over several floors and it takes at least one hour to visit the museum. The free tablet that is given at the entrance is mainly aimed at children with interactive stories and characters from the exhibit talking. It got pretty noisy and crowded as we were visiting on a holiday plus there was an activity lab for children blocking part of the floor. Being interested in the historical part, we would have appreciated more background information about the history of the toys, the toy firms and even some of the items that were on display with more info to read on the windows, an audio guide or a pamphlet.
Monica P — Google review
This is as good as it comes!! Price was low I pads are provided that can be connected to explanations of several points through out the displays were very well done. Several geographic points of origin were included. Gift shop has real collectible inventory, not junk. Staff was extremely helpful. Organization was superior and displays were excellent.
Daniel S — Google review
The Museum has 4 interactive floors of marvelous vintage toys on display. When you receive your ticket, you will also receive a tablet to scan bar codes at several displays. The interactive journey can be in several languages, though after a while, you may be more interested in examining the impressive detail of the display. They also have free lockers for you to lock up your bags. The Museum can be missed if you dont speak German but Google maps stirred me to the right direction.
Shakirah K — Google review
This museum exceeded my expectations. There are thousands of toys from different eras, and each floor follows a different theme. With the BaselCard, the ticket price drops by half, which is great. At the entrance they give you a tablet; you can scan the QR codes throughout the museum to read detailed stories and explanations. It was informative, nostalgic, and overall a wonderful experience.
Beril D — Google review
Nice museum for kids and adults, amazing collection of toys, teddy bears, dolls houses etc, my daughters enjoyed the interactive tour with some toys coming into life through an iPad.. and the arts and crafts station. The museum staff were just amazing! It was a great part of our trip to basel!
Nasreen H — Google review
Delightful museum with a few very kind and friendly staff. Four floors, with SO much to see on each, with many intricate miniatures and doll’s houses mainly from the 1800s onwards. A great variety of dolls and plush teddy bears too, carefully and imaginatively arranged in large glass cases. More curious esoteric models on Floor 1, including a torture chamber…! For smaller folk there are fairly large play areas of Duplo, a very generous amount of Lego and Lego Technic on Floor 3. Tickets come with a free interactive tablet guide with strap to make it easier to carry. Visitors scan a QR code at various points and an entertaining VR animation appears with historical info on the piece, likely to be of interest to slightly older children. An overall thoughtfully presented museum. Benches dotted around each section, and the environment is very clean. Could have spent more than the two hours I had there quite easily. Note: The main shop at entrance is very small, and only sells a handful of miniatures. Plushes are also very modern, and not reminiscent of the styles in the museum. Second section tucked away had a minimum spend of 10 CHF (if I recall correctly) when paying by card, so remember to bring cash for postcards and small items.

Our experience was very different from the other reviews...unfortunately. We love to try out new places and this was on our list. The place is nicely decorated and good atmosphere overall. Probably perfect for a drink. When it comes to food, we don't like to criticize but it's been some time that I haven't had a bad meal. It was a salmon steak dish but the dish was more like a tagliatelle (loads of pasta with cream) and a slice of salmon on top (which was not grilled but probably steamed). Not much taste and big disappointment. Price wise, it was on the high end compared with other good restaurants that you can find around. 24eur for the salmon. Good to try but we will not recommend.

On vacation with my family in Basel, Switzerland, we decided to go to Germany for dinner (how cool is that?). After taking the #8 tram to the end, we got it and explored for a while and ended up here. The service was very friendly. Their English was better than my German, and between the two broken languages we muddled through. My son has a double cheeseburger that was HUGE and greasy, just the way he likes it. My chicken with herb butter was super tasty, but my wife's Käsesalat was a bit too cheesey, but very edible nonetheless. I'd happily return again if I ever exhaust the restaurant opportunities in the area!

The location is great just next to the railway station and two shopping malls, and not far from downtown restaurants. The room smelled like it was or had recently been a smoking room: it had a strong cigarette smell. We had a room without a toilet so we had to use ones in the public space on the corridor. The women's restroom had no light at night: it felt really uncomfortable and unsafe to leave the restroom door and the cubicle door open to get in any light from the corridor.

We had booked (and changed) a room for one night on our journey to Italy, but when we arrived the change of the booking clearly wasn't administrated and the hotel was fully booked. The chef took great care to solve our problem and phoned a couple of affordable hotels in the neighborhood until he found us an alternative for the night. After that he kindly invited us for breakfast in his venue for the next morning which we happily accepted of course. The room in the other hotel (Victoria) was fine and the breakfast buffet in OTT's is very delicious and well-provided. Thank you Herr Andreas Ott for your great hospitality and service.

We stopped here for 1 night travelling from The Hook of Holland to Morzine in France. The location is fantastic, right in the centre of the busy town. Parking was easy in the hotel carpark. The room was clean and comfortable and we slept well. All the staff were welcoming and hospitable throughout our stay. We had an EXCLLENT meal in the hotel restaurant on the evening of our stay, the food, wine and service were all top class. We went to the Dreiländergarten Park for Parkrun on the Saturday morning so did not have breakfast so can't comment on that. We would stay here again without a doubt.

VERY CENTRE. clean, neat, tidy and very kind people. Is close to every where, even Gas station (next door the hotel) ,everything just great. The hotel exactly across 2 shopping buildings. ( Drielander gallerie exactly across the hotel & Inn Sell is 300m away ). So supermarket is everywhere Lidl, Aldi and fresh bakery in Rewe supermarket. If you like middle range fancy stuff how to Drielander gallerie, the choices is limited but still there is a choice. In Inn Sell building you can find action, kik, Tedi, Woolworth. other side of the street is also an old shopping street with many kinds of stuff.
