The Coach & Horses is a popular rural venue with stunning country views and a traditional yet stylish interior. It's known for its generous portions of locally sourced, homemade food and warm welcome. The south-facing gardens are perfect for enjoying the innovative menu and sunny terrace at The Falcon, while The Crown Inn at Old Basing offers classy retro pub food according to the Good Food Guide. Visitors praise the delicious Sunday roast, varied menu options, good selection of beers, and attentive staff.
Great pub in local village location. the garden overlooks fields to the south. 6 real ales on tap is fantastic offering. The Saturday lunch menu was made with quality ingredients cooked to perfection. I had the expertly cooked calves liver.

Great food. We visited the place for dinner on a Sunday on our way back home. it was very busy and they seemed short staff at the bar and clearing tables, but we were happy with our food and service.

Awful food. My Caesar salad was genuinely the worst salad I’ve ever had. It had a sum total of 5 inedible, deep-fried croutons and four anchovies on top of a few salad leaves. My husband’s burger tasted like it had been re-heated or cooked in a microwave and he struggled to finish it. The garden is a lovely place for a drink but don’t bother with the food.

Haven’t been for years. Was always a great food pub and that’s what we wanted on a sunny May evening, sitting in the garden overlooking a corn field. My Steak and Ale pie was just real basic, not at all inviting. My wife’s chilli also looked pretty average. Shame . £37 with a tonic water and lime and soda.

We had a great evening here. A lovely country relaxed style pub in the quiet village. We only enjoyed the excellent selection of beers so I'm unable to comment on the food. but there appeared to be a good number of happy diners The two girls.mamming the point that evening were having to cover both food and bar serving so were kept very busy, but happily. We spent most of the evening outdoors but inside it is very quaint and cosy.

Nestled in a picturesque corner, The Old House at Home Newnham Green is more than just your typical pub; it’s a delightful culinary haven. With its inviting atmosphere that perfectly blends cozy tradition and attentive service, this spot is ideal for both casual lunches and hearty dinners. Guests rave about the exceptional food, particularly the calf liver and bacon dish, which boasts tender perfection complemented by crispy bacon.
A superb meal with perfectly cooked calves, liver, and spot on seasoning of the mash and spinach. The Thai fish bon bons were just the right hint of spices, too. Well kept pint of ale and a good wine selection. Really friendly staff who knew what they were doing. Very clean and warm interior, and there's plenty of parking I can't wait to return.

We had dinner at Old House and Home twice we enjoyed it so much. The food was outstanding (highly recommended the fish cake), the prices were reasonable, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was great. It’s family owned and operated and it’s a classic British pub. I definitely recommend it if you’re in the area and looking for a good meal!

--- **Review: A Gem of a Pub with Outstanding Food** Tucked away in a charming corner, this pub delivers far more than your average pint and pie. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy tradition and attentive service, making it a great spot whether you're stopping in for a casual lunch or a hearty dinner. What truly sets it apart is the food. The calf liver and bacon is exceptional—cooked to tender perfection, with a richness that's beautifully offset by the crispy, savory bacon. It's clear this dish is crafted with care and respect for quality ingredients. Equally impressive is the rare Sunday roast beef. Sliced thick, blushing in the center, and bursting with flavor, it's the kind of roast that reminds you why classic pub fare still holds a place at the table. Accompanied by well-made sides and a generous pour, it’s comfort food done at its best. A definite go-to for anyone who appreciates traditional dishes done right. Highly recommended. ---

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Old House At Home Pub, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Originally, my wife and i had plans to dine at the Oak room at Tylney hall a nearby 4-star hotel we were staying at, but after finding the atmosphere there uninspiring and the menu rather lackluster, we walked out of the oak room and drove 5 minutes to try The Old House At Home instead. It turned out to be an excellent decision. From the moment we stepped into the pub, we was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The rustic charm and cozy ambiance of the place instantly made us feel at home. Unlike the sterile dining room at the hotel, The Old House At Home was friendly and relaxed vibe. The decor is a charming blend of traditional and modern elements, with wooden beams, and comfortable seating that invites you to settle in and enjoy your meal. The staff at The Old House At Home were friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about providing a great dining experience. They were helpful to recommend dishes and ensured that everything was to our satisfaction. The menu at The Old House At Home is a wonderful mix of classic pub fare and contemporary dishes. Overall, The Old House At Home Country Pub provided an unforgettable dining experience that far surpassed the unexciting offerings of Tylney Hall. The combination of delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service makes this pub a true gem. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially those staying at Tylney Hall looking for a memorable meal in a charming setting. I will definitely be returning soon!

My first time here and wow! The best roast dinner I have tasted in a long time - rich gravy and gorgeous beef! Speedy & polite service and stunning country pub! Excited for my next visit already!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a fantastic find! The pâté was absolutely amazing – rich, smooth, and full of flavour. But the real showstopper? The camembert… to die for. Baked to perfection, gooey and indulgent – easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Cosy atmosphere, friendly service, and a menu that hits all the right notes. Will definitely be back! #SupportLocal #FoodieFind #OldHouseAtHome

My husband and I visited this charming pub this evening for dinner. We're staying at a local hotel and fancied exploring a little. We're so pleased we decided to book in to The Old House At Home for dinner. It was a really enjoyable evening. It was easy to book via telephone, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the service was quick and professional and the food and drink was exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, and the village setting is stunning. We have no hesitation in recommending this pub and we'll definitely be returning in the future. Thanks to the staff there for making our visit so easy and enjoyable

Nestled in the picturesque Hampshire countryside, The Derby Inn is a charming gastropub that beautifully marries traditional British cuisine with its own crafted beers. This Georgian Grade II listed building boasts an inviting atmosphere, featuring original elements like open fireplaces and oak-beamed ceilings. Guests can enjoy meals in either the cozy dining area or the general bar space, making it a versatile spot for any occasion. The Derby Inn also offers modest accommodations along with a complimentary breakfast buffet to start your day right.
Had lunch for the first time here today and sat outside in the garden. Wonderful home cooking. Had meatballs, Moussaka and marinated chicken followed by home made Greek dessert and home made ice cream. Absolutely charming waitress, friendly bar staff and met the chef. Our food was delicious having chosen authentic Greek cuisine options on the menu and there are plenty of other good pub classics on the menu too. Well cellared pint of Old Speckled Hen rounded off a perfect lunch. Already arranging to come back for supper soon.

We'll definitely be coming back to The Derby Inn! My family and sat outside on a sunny day, and it was such a lovely setting. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The menu was fantastic - everything sounded so good, it was hard to choose! I went with the Greek chicken skewers, and they were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the homemade ice cream too. One of the best restaurants I've been to in the area!

Came today for roast but sadly food very bland ! Roast potatoes not roasted ! We came today as we have been before had the most amazing roast . Not sure if you have changed chefs but definitely not as good ! Gravy tasted like oxo, roast potatoes very pale and undercooked , no seasoning on anything ! My husband had fish and chips very small portions , and again very bland ! Was very busy were we were seated at the bar area , so service not great, not there fault as they could not get through ! Just a shame we were not seated in restaurant Such a shame as we recommended our friends to come due to our past visit !

Lovely pub food, with really delicious dishes and excellent service. Their little garden in the back is so pretty and perfect in the summer! Didn't stay at the Inn, so can't comment on the rooms.

No reservation for Sunday lunch but easily accommodated as a walk in. Good friendly service. Beef bourginon was delicious as were the fresh vegetable sides. Highly recommend 👌

We absolutely loved this stop. The food was all delicious. We got the fish burger, Italian chicken burger, grilled shrimp and prawns, and halloumi fries. Definitely recommend stopping here.

The food was delicious, I went with the steak and ale pie, the pastry was just perfect and the portion sizes were generous too. Parking wasn't a problem, and, staff were friendly and helpful. Pricing is very reasonable for the food and there's a selection of None Alcoholic drinks for the drivers out there

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Popped in on a Sunday for a quick pint and to catch the Chelsea game — perfect spot. Big screen, good atmosphere, and plenty of space even with the footy on. Staff were friendly, pint was cold, and the locals were up for a bit of football banter. Didn’t stay long, but will definitely swing by again next time I’m in Hook.

Nestled in the heart of Hook, The Café Terrace is a delightful gem that promises an exceptional dining experience. Known for its expertly cooked breakfasts and aromatic coffee, this charming café has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. With fresh ingredients and generous portions, each meal is crafted to perfection, making it a must-visit spot for breakfast lovers.
We planned our stop here as was 1/2 way to our destination, Weymouth. The reviews are all correct. Gr8 value, nice people working there & coffee & food that was well worth pulling off the well worn track for. We would recommend a visit here if in the vicinity. They even sent me the menus via messenger that I asked for. This made deciding on what to order easy when we got there. Plenty of free parking always available!!

Lovely little cafe in a small parade of shops. Good transport links and easily accessible. Although it was close to closing time, we offered a full menu to choose from. The owner was very friendly and chatty. My friend and I had jacket potatoes. 1 with cheese, 1 with tuna. A latte and a water. The food was hot and tasty, with a fair price tag. Extremely clean and a really nice atmosphere that promotes good conversation.

Just has a lovely bacon & egg bap and a latte from this little cafe and it was delish the egg was cooked to perfection! The coffee was also really nice. The people who served me were super lovely, it was quick too as I wanted it to go. It was very reasonably priced as well so I will definitely be back!

This cafe, right in the centre of Hook, is masterminded by the ever-cheerful Tim. The doppio is unsurpassed and Tim sells freshly cooked breakfasts to order. People working in nearby offices also gather for lunch. A good sign is that many locals return time-after-time. Very much an inclusive place. The venue would have received a 5-star review, but my wife finds it rather austere without much ”ambience”. Free Wi-fi is available.
