Tetraeder is a remarkable steel pyramid sculpture located in Bottrop, Germany. Designed by architect Wolfgang Christ, this 60m-high hollow tetrahedron offers breathtaking views of the city and its surroundings. The structure features a 387-step internal staircase that coils up to just below its highest point, providing visitors with an engaging experience as they ascend.
Nice place for visit. It’s calm and quiet. You can either walk along the normal path or for some small adventure you can take the steep shortcuts. Imo evenings would be the best time to visit since you get the nice view of the sunset.
Karnan D — Google review
The Halde Tetraeder in Bottrop is a striking steel pyramid perched on a former slag heap—an icon of the Ruhr’s industrial heritage and renewal. Open 24/7 and free to visit, it offers a thrilling climb via stairways and suspended platforms up to 38 m high, with panoramic views stretching from the Ruhr Valley to Düsseldorf on clear days. The platforms gently sway in the wind, adding excitement, while evenings bring magical sunsets and dazzling light installations. Whether for hiking, architecture, or breathtaking vistas, the Tetraeder is one of the Ruhr region’s most unique and rewarding landmarks.

I've seen one of the best sunsets of my life here. There's no entry fee for visiting this structure. It's open to all and open at all times but be cautious as you would have to trek to that place. Access by vehicle is also possible but I would recommend walking up to the point. Sunset from here was so beautiful and calm. No sound pollution what so ever. One side there was sunset filling the sky with colors and on the other side, full moon with non disturbing smoke coming up from a chimney. I was lucky to be visiting exactly that time. Walking trail is also very beautiful. You'll notice the petroleum pipes around the trail. They also add beauty and uniqueness to the place. Highly recommend visiting this place on a weekday in the evenings!

Here’s a slightly polished version: A beautiful view from above. Perfect for a short weekend getaway with friends—highly recommended!

The place is amazing and the view is fantastic. The other visitors are friendly. Just don’t forget to wear sunscreens d a hat on sunny days as there’s hardly any shade there. Also there’s no infrastructure at all (like toilets) so come prepared.

Nice area for a nice breedge. Climb top the triangle thing and eye up the sorrouding of Bottrop. Metal stairs on the way, and an iconic (overhead) bridge would add up some nice photos in your gallery for sure. Make it in the bucket list and hit it for a hike or jogging or some refreshment.
Sagar S — Google review
After a ten minute walk up the hill directly by stairs or in circles on a way, you can get to this interesting building. The view from the hill is already stunning. If you get on of the plateaus or even on the top of the Tetraeder, the view get‘s even better. I can really recommend this spot for a walk to enjoy the view and the sound of the Ruhr area.

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Amusement park
Movie Park, located in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, Germany, is a popular amusement park with a movie theme. Divided into seven Hollywood-themed zones such as Hollywood Street Set and Nickland, the park offers a variety of family-friendly and thrilling rides, live shows, mazes, and audiovisual attractions based on famous movies and TV shows. Visitors can enjoy 4D cinema experiences like Ice Age or explore mazes inspired by The Walking Dead using real sets from the show.
We were a group of five visiting Movie Park Germany on a public holiday, and we arrived around noon. Before entering, there was a thorough security check, which I found very reassuring—it made me feel safe throughout the entire day in the park. Inside, you can find a variety of restaurants, snack stands, and sweet stalls offering treats such as crêpes, churros, gummy bears, fries, and pizza slices. There are also plenty of restrooms located conveniently around the park. Movie Park Germany is a fantastic destination for families with young children, but also for groups of friends or adults looking for excitement. The park features several roller coasters, ranging from family-friendly rides to adrenaline-filled thrill rides like Star Trek: Operation Enterprise, which even launches you backward, and Van Helsing’s Factory, a dark ride coaster with sharp turns. The safety measures on all attractions are excellent, and staff are very attentive. Since we visited during the Halloween Horror Festival, we booked two of the horror houses: The Hell House and Blood Moon: The Trailer House. Both experiences were intense, immersive, and absolutely worth the extra cost. The Halloween theming across the park was very detailed and atmospheric, with actors, decorations, and special effects adding to the experience. The only downside was that the groups in the horror houses were admitted too close together, which sometimes broke the illusion and caused a bit of crowding inside. One thing to note is the parking situation: there is no payment machine directly in the parking lot. You need to purchase your parking ticket inside the park before returning to your car. As the distance between the parking area and the park entrance is not very short, it’s definitely easier to buy the ticket in advance before heading back. Overall, Movie Park Germany is a great choice for a fun day out, whether you love thrill rides, entertaining shows, or seasonal events like Halloween.

Very nice themed park. My kids (8, 12 and 18years old) all had a great day with the rides and shows. Not completely five stars though. The drinks are quite expensive. The food is reasonably priced. So a tip is to bring your own drinks. Further more, all rides close half an hour before closing time and some only open at 11 even though the park is open at 10. But all in all a great day out. The park is not very big in lay-out, so it is easy to go from one place to the other. Also the waiting times are not ridiculously long as in other parks.
Dave G — Google review
We had purchased the tickets at a discounted price of 29€ and visited on Saturday. We reached early at the opening time and were lucky to not face long queues at most rides. Best thing about this amusement park is that it has rides for all age groups so no one feels left out and most of the rides are super fun. We loved it to the bits and would happily visit it again.
Sweta K — Google review
Make sure you buy your tickets online and not at the gate as you’ll save about €20. Had a great day, did lots of attractions in only a few hours. Studio tour the ride was our favourite with some great theming and effects. It’s a fun park but for someone who’s done many Disney and Universal studios parks it lacks a little in its up keep but I don’t think that’s the parks fault but likely down to the guests as some of the details in the ques look quite worn down.
Cieran B — Google review
Very nice theme park in Germany. We been there with my colleagues last spring. Its not so big place but the attractions were compact and you can go in every rides for whole day. Its not also crowded and you dont need to wait for long lines to go in every attractions Also the rides are exciting and fun.
Cheryll C — Google review
We had a family trip to the movie park. It was an amazing experience. Suitable for all ages. We were. Group of adults, a 5 years old, and a 10 years old. Everyone had an activity suitable for their age. From breathtaking rollercoasters, to family shows, to kids plays. The best thing was that we didn't need to stand hours long on the queue for each ride. Highly recommend!
Lara B — Google review
This is the best adventure experience I’ve ever had in my life so far. No words to express my excitement and joy. I enjoyed it a lot. I hope to go there someday soon again.
Kalpani K — Google review
I went on a Sunday with my boyfriend and, even though it was full, it was an wonderful experience! I recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks because everything is very expensive here. One suggestion - put the maximum heights in ALL the attractions. My boyfriend is 2,06m tall and he found, sometimes after waiting 45 minutes in line, that he couldn’t fit the attraction cars (even though they didn’t have a maximum height published at the entrance).

Berne Park, situated between the Emscher River and the Rhine-Herne Canal, was once a sewage treatment plant before its transformation into a vibrant park in 1997. The park boasts lush greenery, water features, cycling paths, walking trails, and several dining options including a beer garden. It also features industrial architecture integrated with art and nature. Visitors can enjoy the classy atmosphere and delicious offerings on-site during their visit to this historically significant park.

(Translated by Google) For one night, okay. For two people, but very cramped. As in the previous review. I can only confirm that on weekends, teenagers show up at night and talk loudly. As if there were nowhere else to be annoying. Thank goodness they left after an hour. Unfortunately, the toilet door was broken, preventing guests from getting out at night. By chance, we were able to let them out again. I hope it gets fixed as soon as possible. There was also no light. To save electricity. As I said, for one night, okay. The place is very nice, though.

The only thing I deducted was the worn-out mattress! (Translated by Google) I was at Bernepark as part of the Extraschicht (Extra Shift) program. The program was enjoyable, and we also really liked the design of one of the sewage treatment basins. It's a beautiful place for an event, but... if I had come here just for that reason, it would have been very disappointing. (Original) Ich war im Rahmen der Extraschicht im Bernepark. (Translated by Google) Bravo to the courageous visionary who envisioned a beautiful park in this old sewage treatment plant. The two large, circular basins were transformed into a terraced garden and a circular pond. Coffee and cake are served in the former engine house, often on the terrace in summer. Things are a bit quieter, with many visitors being parents with small children or cyclists who have turned off the Rhine-Herne Canal. Not a major tourist attraction, but one of the most pleasant.

Indoor Skydiving Bottrop GmbH is Germany's pioneering indoor skydiving wind tunnel, boasting state-of-the-art facilities in Europe. The facility offers an exhilarating experience for individuals aged four and above, simulating the thrill of flying and freefall in a 14-foot glass flight chamber with airflow speeds reaching up to 280 km (174 miles) per hour. Visitors can enjoy the sensation of skydiving without the need to jump from an aircraft.
We have been to this place 14 years ago and had booked 2 minutes flight at that time. It was fun but too short to really learn anything. So this time we booked 6 minutes and took our kids with us. We had a really great time. Both instructors are very friendly and experienced. Our French instructor knows all the member’s name by heart. He explained the techniques to us in detail. I actually feel that I improved a little bit this time. After the flight he also spent time discussing our individual flight with us. We will certainly come back again. All the staff was very helpful both on the phone and on site. Just be aware that it could get very crowded on the weekend.

What a wonderful experience! As we entered the building we were nicely greeted, had to fill out a form and everything went so smoothly. Then we waited less than 10 minutes before our instructor, Gregory, called us and began the instructions. We were handed our goggles, helmet and a jumpsuit to put on. Gregory showed us around and demonstrated how we should enter the chamber and what positions to keep so that we would be able to float. He was so confident and professional that we, newbies, felt very comfortable and worry-free. We would each enter the chamber individually, and my experience went super smoothly and it was so fun that I laughed the entire time. A piece of advice: if you’re laughing keep your mouth closed 😂, to avoid your face from getting wet! I could do this all day long!! I couldn’t get enough. So happy to have done this! Very strongly recommended. Thank you Greg ☺️

It was a great experience, although you are not really aware of what is going on, you somehow get it a bit. I got two 2 min. dives and it is enough for the first time. The instructors and other staff are also great.

Amazing event! The whole time was just amazing. The team is friendly and explains the system and what happens at each moment. The instructors are open to answer every question and you never feel alone in the “flying chamber”. I will definitely come back for a second and third fly!

Our three 'kids' had a fantastic time in Bottrop and greatly enjoyed their flights. The waiting area is nicely furnished and clean. Everything was well organised and all members of staff were very friendly and competent. A special compliment goes to their instructor, Greg, who has such an open, friendly, witty and endearing manner that made everyone feel instantly at ease! His instructions, signals, body language, and helpfulness in the air channel were a pleasure to watch ~ so refreshing to see someone, who obviously loves his job, and to see how contagious this was for everyone he instructed.👌 A fantastic experience and a wonderful family memory! Keep up the great team work and all the very best to you all.

The Museum Association Josef Albers Museum Quadrat e.V. is a tribute to the renowned Bauhaus artist and educator, Josef Albers. Visitors can admire an impressive collection of his works, including expressive paintings, engravings, glass pieces, and photomontages. The museum offers a delightful experience for art enthusiasts. Born in Bottrop in 1888, Josef Albers was known for his abstract art that skillfully combined vibrant colors with geometric shapes.
Entrance is free, the workers there are very friendly. They also told us that the other section is opening in October so we shall definitely go back, it’s very beautiful

(Translated by Google) This was our second visit to the Josef Albers Museum/Quadrat, and we highly recommend both the historical exhibition and the Josef Albers exhibition. The museum is very pleasantly designed, and you can explore all the exhibits at your leisure. The staff are all very friendly, and as far as I know, admission is generally free. We visited the Elternstart NRW exhibition with our young daughter, once through the Josef Albers exhibition and once through the historical exhibition... both with guided tours. The tours are really well-designed, with plenty of quiet time and breaks for the little ones. Highly recommended, and the adjacent city park is also really, really beautiful these days. Bottrop also has its beautiful sides... The Quadrat, or rather the museum, is truly recommended...

(Translated by Google) The museum appears beautiful at first glance, and the free admission is a welcome addition. Unfortunately, our visit with children was very unpleasant. There was no welcome or introduction; instead, we were constantly observed by staff. The children were reprimanded several times, even though they behaved quietly and respectfully. The exhibition is not interactive and—apart from a small craft table—offers no opportunities for children to participate or simply be children. Overall, we felt unwelcome there with children. It's a shame—it doesn't create a welcoming or family-friendly atmosphere.

Real traditional German restaurant with top service and amazing ambient (garden and the terrace are so beautiful). They don't have so much things on the menu but the food is very tasty. It seems that their specialty are traditional cakes. They have many of them and they all look amazing and very tasty. We tried “Sahne Schokolade“. It was perfekt! The coffee was also great!
