Flea & Street Markets
Siti Khadijah Market is a bustling multilevel indoor market in Kota Bahru, Kelantan. It's a one-stop destination for travelers looking to explore traditional Malay foods like akok, nasi tumpang, etok salai, and nasi kerabu. The market offers an array of products including fresh produce, textiles, handicrafts, clothing, jewelry and local delicacies.
A visit to Kota Bharu isn’t complete without experiencing the bustling, colorful energy of Siti Khadijah Market. This multistorey marketplace is a feast for the senses & a cultural highlight of Kelantan. Weekdays are best to visit as the market is at its most vibrant, with almost all stalls open. Note that many vendors close on weekends & public holidays especially during Islamic celebrations like Awal Muharram or Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday). On the Ground Floor of the multistorey complex, is the Wet market for fresh produce, fish, meats & vegetables. Up to the First Floor, there were sundries, dried goods & souvenirs (e.g. rattan-made or mengkuang-made ware, batik Wau, key chains, fridge magnets etc). Onto the Second Floor, there were clothing & traditional textiles i.e. batik & songket. Adventure isn't limited within the multistorey complex as there were many perimeter stalls for fruits, toys, gold jewelry & ready-to-eat local foods. Parking can be challenging though. Hence, it is best to use council street parking available across town, just a short walk away. Do come early for the freshest picks & to avoid the midday heat. Don’t forget your camera cos the vibrant piles of produce & lively atmosphere just incredibly photogenic! Enjoy the photos...

Siti Khadijah Market in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, is one of the most famous and lively markets in Malaysia, and it truly lives up to its reputation. Located in the heart of the city, this iconic market is not just a place for shopping but also a cultural experience. The colorful building, buzzing atmosphere, and the variety of stalls make it a must-visit for anyone exploring Kota Bharu. What makes Siti Khadijah Market so special is the incredible range of local products available. From fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat to spices, batik fabrics, handicrafts, and traditional snacks—you can find almost everything here at affordable prices. It’s a perfect spot to pick up souvenirs and also to enjoy authentic Kelantanese food like nasi kerabu and kuih. The market is named after Siti Khadijah, the wife of Prophet Muhammad, reflecting the strong role of women in business here. Most of the vendors are women, and their warmth and friendliness make the shopping experience even more enjoyable. Even if you don’t plan to buy much, walking around and soaking up the vibrant local culture is worth the trip. The market is busiest in the morning, so arriving early will give you the best experience and freshest choices. It is also very photogenic—perfect for travelers who love capturing authentic cultural scenes. For both locals and tourists, Siti Khadijah Market is a true symbol of Kota Bharu’s heritage and daily life.

Pasar Siti Khadijah is a must-visit when in Kota Bharu — lively, colorful, and full of local charm. The best things to buy here are the local produce and traditional goods, which make for great gifts or souvenirs. Prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere gives you a real taste of Kelantanese culture. Don’t miss the food court on the 1st floor! The highlight is definitely the nasi kerabu — flavorful, vibrant, and a true Kelantan specialty. Perfect spot to take a break from shopping and enjoy authentic local flavors. Overall, a vibrant market experience that captures the essence of Kelantan.

A landmark of Kota Bharu, there is no other place that defines Kota Bharu better than Pasar Siti Khadijah. You can find almost every traditional Kelantan food, clothing and accessories and handicraft here at very reasonable prices. I strongly recommend every first time visitor to Kelantan to pay a visit to this place. For the best sambal daging (serunding), head straight to Gerai Kak Mah. You’ll find the best serunding in the world here. Its been the best for the past fifty years. I’m not joking.

A Vibrant and Authentic Cultural Experience! A must-visit in Kota Bharu! The energy here is incredible. The ground floor is a feast for the senses with colorful arrays of fresh produce, tropical fruits, and local snacks. What makes it truly special are the friendly female vendors—it's a unique and empowering atmosphere. Upstairs, you'll find all sorts of Kelantanese handicrafts and souvenirs. It's the perfect place to soak up the local culture, practice your bargaining skills, and try some delicious local food. An absolute highlight of my trip to Kelantan.
Wong H — Google review
I came here around 8am on a Friday. Not all shops were open yet, but the wet market on the ground floor was already lively. As with most traditional markets, Pasar Khadijah has everything, from meat and chicken to spices, snacks, kuih-muih, and more. The place is quite spacious, with around three floors including the ground level. Kuih-muih can be found around the corner of one block. I suggest coming around 9am or later if you want to explore the shops one by one, as most of them open around that time. There’s also a morning market nearby, about 10 minutes’ walk away, where you can find plenty of thrift booths and local snacks.
Selvinia N — Google review
Wet market on ground floor- lots of seafood but also meat. Inside stalls of various types. Local flavour. May be bit confronting for some overseas visitors. Open air so no aircon but covered.

Interesting look into the life of royalty. The exhibits such as the royal souvenirs could be better labelled. Some of the rooms did not have enough ventilation. Otherwise one of the most-sees of Kelantan. The museum is well maintained, clean, organized and cool (not hot). There are many exhibits in the museum. They only charge RM2 per person. No air condition. The regalia and all the things that they put in display are not arranged properly. Many of them are some old stuff presented to the Kings and Queens as royal gift. They were also not enough information and stories about the things on display.

I mean its good to know more abt culture and history of kelantan but museum very very small and abit dark. Can easily finish in 15mins and its free.
Ngọc T — Google review
For a museum that is supposedly representing the state I can say that I am a bit disappointed. A small upper ground hall holds the exhibition on the many traditional performances that makes Kelantan world-class. But I've seen better presentation in several institutional museum in the country. Only the diorama on Gua Cha exhibiting the history of the state which can be traced as far as the Hoabinhian culture. Yes the museum is small and several features of the states are displayed at the nearby museums but there is so much that can be done inside. And Kelantan is a state rich in history, nature, tradition.

Kopitiam Kita is a charming restaurant located in Kota Bharu, the capital of Kelantan in Malaysia. It's a great place to experience local breakfast dishes such as Roti Titab, a traditional Kelantanese bread dish grilled over hot coals and served with half-boiled egg and kaya. The menu also includes other rice-based breakfast options like Nasi Lemak and Nasi Ayam.
various types of food available.. crowded but organized.. we didn't wait too long to get a seat.. we sat in the air-conditioned section.. the food was delicious. fast service.. the owner was also friendly and treated us well👍

Maybe today isn't the day. The service was extremely slow. I ordered Ice lemon tea but got Tea'O. A reminder this isn't the best place if you want peace and chill while having your coffee & roti. Also the cup for air suam was dirty.. 💔 Not to mention this place isn't parking friendly y'all so be prepared. Will try to come again but during working days. The roti was soft and not very different from others shop. I believe the management can improve better in term of time, hygiene & provide more space.

A really popular breakfast place for locals and tourists alike. A place that serves a patented Roti Titab Crowded when I visited on a saturday morning but still managed to find seats. Order food and drinks from staff. Pick out your nasi lemak and other nasi dishes placed along the back wall. Huge variety of different rice and curries available. There are also some kuehs and satays. Roti Titab was really good. Loved it. Totally enjoyed the drinks here too. Well-made, thick and not super sweet. Nasi lemak sambal was good too To pay, call over a staff to count the food that you have self-service and add on yo your drinks and titab ordered earlier. Simple and straightforward. Fuss-free

Chicken restaurant
Restaurant
Yati Ayam Percik is a popular choice for Nasi Kerabu enthusiasts due to its unique authenticity and deliciousness. The restaurant's specialty, "ayam percik," is known for its tender and juicy grilled chicken with a coconut-based spice sauce. The secret to their flavorful chicken lies in the special coconut cream and blended spices thick sauce used during grilling. Despite some comments about the service, visitors highly recommend trying the ayam percik when visiting Kelantan.
Great food. Arrived before lunch crowd. Aircon seating is a plus. Easy roadside parking in front of restaurant.
Friendly A — Google review
I’ve had better ayam percik & nasi kerabu in kelantan, this one lacks flavour and sweet. Nasi kerabu is average. There is aircon sitting area which made it more comfortable. Bit pricey here..
Nurain O — Google review
This place was highly recommended to us, as soon as we arrived in Kota Bharu. Even Nasir in Cyberjaya texted me the reviews and the direction to this restaurant. Hence, off we went, both of us with empty stomachs... As soon as we entered the venue, we were greeted by billowing smokes!! Aromas of fish and chicken were also in the air, but they were in the form of smokes nonetheless!! That definitely made us highly uncomfortable.. As I took to the forming queue to place my orders, my wife rushed to the enclosed airconditioned dining room, only to find it fully occupied already. So, she quietly walked out to sit at the table for two in the stuffy smoked filled open air dining area. I ordered the Fish and Chicken Percik, which was a flavorful mixture of thick coconut gravy, unmistakenly a kelantanese dish. I also requested for the Barbequed Lamb and Smoke fired Tongue, the more exotic dishes displayed on the menu. Unfortunately, the waiter just brushed me off, saying they dont serve those at the moment. Well, why did you advertise in the menu then? I noticed that new customers kept coming in, but it took them forever to manage the large crowd, starting from taking orders, preparing the dishes, and serving to the starving customers. By then it was already 3:00 pm, but customers kept coming in droves... I am all for good affordable and delicious food, but the management must step up as well. If you cannot manage your customers well, they might not come back again in the future. And, why not cook or prepare the food at the rear, or "behind the scene"? Do the customers really need to see the actions, and absorbed the smoke in the eyes as well? Im sure the solution is obvious...
Sazali S — Google review
Overhyped. Nasi kerabu is average at best. Even their famed gravy kuah percik leaves much to be desired. Grilling area is at the front of the shop causing smoke to fill the dining area. Didn't enjoy dining here at all.
Ron M — Google review
The restaurant is really Eco-friendly. The environment is nice, well-balanced and the decoration and designs are pretty nice. I went before but I'd say this place is well-known by local people around here. The foods got a lot of choice and you can spontaneously choose whatever you heart desires. The foods were really delicious and kinda spicy. The spices, the ingredients are well-mixed and the mixture of the dishes are nice. Nice chef/chefs! The libations were normal and typical like other common restaurant. The price is really affordable. This restaurant is great for family gathering and group gathering. It's cozy enough for gathering! The service is kinda slow and the facilities is kinda bad. Need to improve more including hygiene section. Other than that, I satisfied with this! Recommended though <3

Love the ayam percik so much! Rasa rempah dia mmg terbaik. And the ayam is well cooked. I like the sauce that they used. What a very good combination. The sauce and the ayam percik is a must try. The portion and the taste is suitable with the price stated. Berbaloi. Ada juga makanan lain yang sedap and should try. The kuih muih also yummy. Good service from the workers too. They were very friendly to us. Should try the sate too. The place is just average. Simple decoration. Cume kena improve dari segi hygiene sikit, other than that, everything is okay. Restoran Nasi Ulam Cikgu is a popular spot in Kota Bharu, known for its traditional Kelantanese cuisine and ulam dishes. The restaurant offers a variety of flavorful Malaysian side dishes and the famous 'budu' anchovy sauce. While there's no air conditioning, it provides an authentic kampung dining experience at an affordable price. Visitors can enjoy generous portion sizes, especially of seafood like fish and ikan keli.
While exploring Kelantan, my sister recommended a local restaurant that we simply couldn't pass up. We were blown away by the incredible food! Great selection of cooked food and ulam (fresh and cooked herbs and vegetables). Highly recommend the ayam percik (grilled chicken in spicy coconut sauce) - has a nice charred taste, juicy meat and addictive sauce. Personally I also liked the ayam goreng (fried chicken) as the skin is crispy and the meat moist, you know it’s especially good when they have to cook new batches to top up. Both the Keli goreng (fried catfish) and Keli Gulai (catfish in lemak sauce) were good too. We were lucky as Mat (I think one of the manager there) was very helpful teaching us how to mix the sauce (sambal, mango slices, cut lemongrass, sliced onions, chili padi, lime and the star is to add shredded Ikan meat in this mix). SO SO GOOD as a condiment with the cooked dishes and herbs! Went on a Saturday afternoon and was packed! Luckily there were quite a lot of seatings, one at the main area, one located below the craft museum which had air con seatings. Highly recommended for a good nasi ulam in terms of taste and culture! And thanks to Mat for my first great nasi ulam experience.

Located in the heart of Kota Bharu, Sun Two Restaurant is a HAKIM-certified Halal spot that's definitely worth a visit. I first met the owner on a flight to KB back in September 2024, but I only made it to the restaurant today. I ordered the Hainanese chicken chop – my first time trying it – and I was impressed! A solid choice for anyone exploring local Halal options in KB.

It was my childhood restaurant that served one of the OG chicken chop in town. It was also my parents outing spot when they were in highschool. So can imagine how long this restaurant has been established. Even after those many years, their chicken chop still tastes the same. Sedap as usual. Just take note that they’ll rest in between the business hour from 3-4pm and will open as usual after 4pm till the stated closing time.

I had a hard time choosing my meal since everything on the menu looked delicious. I opted for a seafood glass noodle platter and the meal was SO tasty ! Since I had a great experience, I told the man that I would come back with my husband which I did 2 days later. He was SO NICE with us, he recognized me and had so many questions for my husband. We again had a great dinner. This place is really cheap and well located, near the central market and bazaar, do not miss it !

I came all the way from Selangor to taste real nasi kerabu in kelantan but ive tasted other that much better than this. The food was ok. Probably may improved in the term of cutting the vegetables. Some are large cutting & not consistent. Do improve as well your welcoming service. As outsider who dont have any experience order here, lead your customers on how to order if dine in. I was blurry as no one told us anything when we came. The lady who scoop our nasi kerabu also not friendly *masam* when we asked about any add on dishes in nasi kerabu

Some people dont just eat chicken breast. Full stop. Taste wise is okay which i believed could be a lot better if cater to customer’s preferences. Other minus points parking is a nightmare, org kaunter muka kerek, please understand not all Malaysian can kecek kelate. Its 2025 please improve on how u treat and view customer perhaps just use standard bahasa if u see people struggling to understand u. Please also improve ur hygeine, floor and table are gross and sticky.

Food is good especially the grilled chicken. Variety of choice between chicken and fish But there’s a lot of people in the morning and long queue for food and table. Limited staffs working there

Kelantan Trip Day 1 Part 2 It took us close to 3 hours journey from Gua Musang all the way to Kota Bharu passing places like Kuala Krai and Machang which slowed us down due to heavy traffic, eventually reached our lunch place. I've been looking for a good nasi kerabu (or Kabu for Kelantanese) and found Lieniey. Parking was slightly difficult as it was limited and by the roadside. ◾Nasi Kerabu - my only grouse was the usage of white rice instead of the customary blue pea-coloured rice. Maybe they were out of blue pea flower that day. Apart from that, everything else were good - ulam, keropok, budu and gulai sauce combined well together for nasi kerabu experience. The ayam bakar was slightly on the sweeter side though. ◾Nasi Dagang - surprise surprise as I liked their version of this dish more popular in Terengganu. Using genuinely nasi Dagang rice, ikan tongkol doused in sweetish gravy and half salted egg.. I finished the whole pack in no time. ◾Solok lada marked my first time trying this stuffed chilly using grated coconut, fish meat and coconut milk. Also known as lada sumbat, it is a popular side dish normally consumed together with nasi kerabu and nasi dagang. As per Kelantanese standard, most gravies lean on the sweeter side. Mission complete.

Epic food sold here, would recommend if you’re in town. 2 queues, 1 for dine and 1 for take away. Morning crowd can be quite long.
