Alter Strom, located in the heart of Warnemunde, was originally a canal connecting Rostock's port to the Baltic Sea. Over time, it became a charming area with colorful houses where fishermen and sailors settled. Visitors can now enjoy strolling along the picturesque promenade, shopping, and savoring delicious seafood while watching seagulls. It's a lively place with opportunities for swimming and beach activities. The area is perfect for spending quality time with family or friends over a weekend getaway.
Great place for hangout and pass the weekend. You can eat lots of fish items. Sea beach was too good -- you can swim, play volleyball etc.

The Warnemünde Lighthouse, a 19th-century beacon constructed with gleaming white glazed bricks, stands at a height of 31 meters. It offers stunning panoramic views of the picturesque village of Warnemünde, the Baltic Sea, and the pristine beach. Serving as both a navigational aid for ships and an iconic symbol of the seaside resort, this historic lighthouse has been guiding vessels since its construction in 1898.
Great place. You can climb the lighthouse and get great views. The beaches in the area are great. There is some fabulous public sculpture in the area too. The famous teapot building is close by.

We were on a cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the stops was Warnemunde. We walked around the town self guided using google maps. The town is rather small so it did not take long to see it all. The lighthouse is in a busy part of town on the dock area. It was easy to get to the lighthouse for an up close view. Built in 1898 and very much a part of the town.

I visited this lovely coastal town of Warnemünde whilst on a cruise. I only spent a couple of hours but was really impressed.
Praful S — Google review
It’s a must place to visit while sightseeing in Rostock, In the area u also have the opportunity to visit the public beach areas plus don’t stop at the lighthouse, if you walk further u will come to a sea point where u can see two further lighthouses and also big ships coming towards the harbor.. Interesting and beautiful scenerio.. A must place in Rostock

The Warnemünde Lighthouse, a striking landmark in Rostock, Germany, stands tall at 37 meters on the Unterwarnow estuary. Erected in 1898 with white glazed bricks, it offers panoramic views from its two galleries. Once operated by a keeper, it's now automated, guiding ships with its light visible for 20 nautical miles.

It was very nice place to visit one should depart here early in the morning. And enjoy the sun near to the beach and play and take the sunshine. I love this place a lot if you need any more information you may text me at Instagram @ashwani17000

The lighthouse is definitely worth to see! Amazing view, you can read about a technology used for signaling, what's really interesting. Only what I didn't like was how the stuff haven't been speaking even a word in other language than German and even haven't been trying.

Maritime museum
Museums
The Shipbuilding and Maritime Museum Rostock offers a wide range of activities for all ages, including presentations, excursions, and guided tours. The museum is housed in the Dresden, a 10,000-ton freighter moored on the Unterwarnow. It showcases Rostock's rich shipbuilding tradition and maritime history from different eras, providing an immersive experience for visitors.
Totally worth a visit! A broad display of naval history, technical information and art (currently there's an exhibition broadcasting the different epochs of painting art via Donald duck). All that presented in a docked ship (mostly interior, so good for bad weather). Entrance fee is 4 Euro (very fair), additional 2 Euro for the parking lot. Starting at 10 am. It's close to the beaches of Warnemünde and Rostock old town, therefore a perfect location.
Thomas P — Google review
Really cool being able to explore a ship like this, worth a visit if you're in the area and interested in maritime history. Seeing it first hand really helps bring it to life. It is a bit of a walk from the S-Bahn station, not sure I'd fancy it in bad weather, and didn't seem to be well served by public transport to get you closer.
Sophie M — Google review
Arrived at 1530 looking forward to my visit. I was told by the staff it was now closed with various different reasons why.A female staff member said it closes at 1700 although all information shows it as 1800.I suspect that they were trying to finish early as I noted some staff leaving at 1608. If I had known that the hours had changed,I would have went to other places rather than rush here. Totally pissed off. I note reading other comments this appears to be an issue.
James S — Google review
Amazing museum with beautiful model ships, (working) models of engines with such incredible detail, history of shipbuilding and all very nicely layed out. The ships and its museum pieces are very well maintained. The park where the museum is located is also worth a visit by itself. Entry for park and the musuem is only 4 euro.

Very cool museum in a great location. We spent way more time on the ship than we had planned for. I never saw it when it was used as a youth hostel, it must have been an interesting place to spend the night. The new exhibition is fun. Can highly recommend a visit.
Kristin J — Google review
Very nice ships museum built inside a actual ship. Many good exhibits. Excellent for young people to understand.
Janakiraman G — Google review
The detail and exhibits are amazing. I use to work in the engine rooms of ships and it was fun to see the engine room on the ship with the engine taken apart showing parts you usually don't get to see. When i was there they had an exhibit on torpedo including old torpedo engines it was a great afternoon!

Warnemünde Church is a beautiful neo-gothic evangelische church located on Kirchenplatz, surrounded by a circular street. The red stone architecture and its location make it a popular spot for visitors exploring Warnemünde. The area around the church offers a big parking lot, shopping options, and dining places. Inside the church, there's an audio display about the organs in German.
A beautiful church with two model ships suspended in the aisles. Was fortunate to enter before a service and hear the beautiful organ.

A very beautiful evangelische church witin the city. The architecture is neo-gothic and is almost completeyl made up of red stone. Is widely visited by most of the people who visit Warnemünde. There is a big parking lot and a decent market place with shopping and eating joints around the church area.
SACHIT V — Google review
Pretty location, and what is actually a very well constructed church, however it is not open to visitors (at least on the day we were there).

This church, in its simplicity, somehow manages to impose itself as an elegant and dominating landmark.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming seaside town of Warnemünde, Restaurant „Zum Stromer“ offers a delightful dining experience that captures the essence of local cuisine. With its cozy ambiance featuring a warm fireplace and an inviting outdoor terrace, this eatery is perfect for enjoying freshly caught fish and homemade pasta dishes. The restaurant embodies the spirit of coastal living, making it an ideal spot to savor authentic flavors while soaking in the picturesque surroundings.
We loved the meal and the hospitality at this restaurant in a traditional style house next to the river. They serve at 5pm and then 730pm and we had to book the day before. My husband had fish soup, then a duo of different fish while I had the king prawns in a lovely spicy tomato sauce. The service was great and I was very impressed with the ambience as well. It felt like it fitted the house and the area. I wish we had room for dessert ! It was really nice to have the whole menu in English and the server also helped us in English which was more relaxing for us. There was a range of other dishes aprt from fish, and a good wine list. This place deserves the good reviews. Thank you for a lovely meal.

For a lovely and quiet meal, go to this quaint house and enjoy the delicious meal, great service, and don’t think about money.

Excellent seafood! Had a lovely dinner here with friends. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals and drinks. Good service. It's not cheap, but it's right in a touristy part of town, so that's too be expected. The food did live up to the higher-end price tag. Recommended!
Amy D — Google review
Good quality food. It is a bit expensive but the food is made by best ingredients. It is in located in a quiet place.
Babak N — Google review
The service is good and Dorsch Filet tastes really great. The best restaurant so far I can find in Warnemünde. For non-German visitors: waiters and waitresses can speak English, but the menu is all in German.
Chia-Jung T — Google review
Delicious food and wine for a reasonable price. Excellent setting and good atmosphere for a nice dinner. We didn't dress nicely and weren't challenged. We made reservations and I'm glad we did, because the place filled up very quickly after it opened at 5pm. There were a few other places open at 4pm, just up the street, if you feel like getting a drink before dinner.
Nick B — Google review
Really nice and cozy place. A real fireplace keeps the guests warm in the colder months. Absolutely excellent food made from first class ingredients. Everything cooked to the point. The white chocolate cake was the top of a superb three-course dinner. Also excellent wine selection and very friendly staff. Wonderful place all in all, with very reasonable prices for the quality of food, service and place.
Susann ( — Google review
The experience here was first class from the service to the atmosphere to the food. It was only a short walk from the cruise terminal and well worth the effort. But be forewarned, although they did have an English menu available, on the night we were there, English was not well understood. However we were able to get by with my high school level German. Our waitress was very understanding of my feeble attempt at speaking her language and she could not have been nicer. Overall a great experience.

Staying in Warnemünde for the weekend. The first night we wandered around looking for a nice bar and stumbled onto this place. It was perfect! Welcoming and cozy atmosphere, classy rustic aesthetic. The guy speaks with you and chooses your drink. Very good wine with complex flavour notes, we also had delicious cheese and meats plate.

Solid place to get quality wine service. Had options of brilliant wines that was according to our tast - not allways an easy task. Some tasteful speck served with the wine. Enclosed/intimate place.

Amazingly fresh seafood and great quality meat. Super friendly staff. Very cosy atmosphere. My only suggestion would be to go easy on the sauces. The sauces are delicious in their own right but they tend to crowd out the delicate flavours of the base food, be that fish or meat.

Great food and atmosphere. The restaurant is located in the middle of market. Me and my wife even got a free glass of gluhwein. Sea food lovers would definitely enjoy the fresh food here. I'd personally recommend poached fish with bratkartoffeln

Local, wharfside original bar cafe serving fish, desserts, coffee, etc. I had fish soup, very good. Not expensive. Outdoor seats. Original maritime freezer door entrance to WC downstairs. It's like a ship

Was in town from a cruise (of course), and we had some time to kill. After wandering around a while, we found this lovely place. We couldn’t hear any English being spoken, so figure it would be more authentic than most places. The menu was in German, but had a English “translations” on the back page. I got some sort of fish three ways, while the bride and kid had chicken schnitzel. Everything was fantastic, but I’m still not entirely sure what I ate.

Great lunch today. The schnitzel was perfect. Staff friendly and the area very nice to spend the afternoon on an almost all pedestrian street in this cute area about 3 miles from the cruise port.

Great place and big portions. I’d recommend Schnitzel Au Four! Awesome selection of typical Baltic/Eastern German food. Enough to feed a hungry man.

We had a decent lunch at Carls Restaurant on a Sunday. It is one of the few restaurants providing VEGAN dishes on their menu, which we appreciated a lot. We had the vegan burger, which was quite tasty but a bit small, considering the price. The vegan Meatballs and rice where good, but could’ve been a bit more seasoned and perhaps added some additional veggies, like broccoli or carrots! All in all a good stop for a vegan friendly lunch!

The food was delicious, we ordered as appetizer Kokos Chili shrimps. And for main dishes pasta pesto with chicken and cheeseburger. All was so tasty. And the service was superrrr! .. recommended Restaurant for sure!
