Drachenfels is a famous hill known for its vineyards, a historic cog railway, and the remnants of a medieval castle. It's a popular spot for tourists looking to explore the area. The hill offers stunning views and is surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Visitors can also enjoy dining at various restaurants in Koenigswinter, offering diverse cuisines and dining experiences.
Wonderful place to be for an escape from a busy week. The view of the river from the hill top is magnificent along with centuries old history of the ruined castle.
Sarang G — Google review
A beautiful place with a nice overlooking view. There are two ways to reach the castle ruins: you can either hike up or take the oldest cogwheel railway in Europe. Both options offer a great experience.
PinkFluffyBanana — Google review
Unbelievable, If you are in the area you have to see it! Great views and a great hike or train ride.
Bill K — Google review
It’s a beautiful castle. But it’s small on the inside just 2 floors and a little tower on the side so ur done pretty quickly. And for the price €25 for a family ticket it’s pricey.
Linn R — Google review
It‘s definitely worth a visit, the place is nice and spacious. We chose to go up with the tram mainly because of the children but i would recommend to take the trail hiking up instead. It was cold and windy sitting outside (for a snack/beer/coffee/ Curry Wurst, .etc) but then you get the beautiful Sunset view.
Le D — Google review
A beautiful resort that is perfect for a weekend getaway within an hour drive and half day visiting
Flos L — Google review
Train up. Hike down if your legs are good. Rich history. Beautiful views.
John O — Google review
We hiked up the peak. It took us about 45-60min. We read it is useful to use hiking shoes but that would not necessarily have been needed. Normal comfortabel shoes would have been fine too. The view from up there is magnificent. It's definitely worth it to go the extra few meters up. You need to walk over the terrace on order to get to the way up. You can see the Rhine and its beautiful surrounding area. We could even see the Kölner Dom from there. On the way back we visited the castle which is also a must see. On the way to the top, there is one view point from which you can see the castle, that was also very nice to see. When in the area, the Drachenfels is definitely a recommendation from me.

Nestled in the charming town of Königswinter, Godesburg Castle stands as a testament to medieval architecture and history. Dating back to the 13th century, this fortress may not be vast, but its rugged stone facade perfectly embodies the essence of a classic castle. Although much of it was destroyed in the late 16th century, Godesburg has been lovingly reconstructed and now offers visitors an opportunity to explore its intriguing ruins while delving into its storied past through engaging exhibits.
A natural, majestic dining experience that’s fun & relaxed. You’ll love the grand view of the seven mountain range and appreciate service that is quick, calm and professional. We had a talented gentleman on the piano playing along the conversations with jazz classics. We‘ll return and enjoy this place of elegance & grandeur.

Absolutely magical place! The restaurant is set in an old castle on top of a hill, offering breathtaking views. Inside, everything is spotless and beautifully maintained. The staff are true professionals, and there's even a talented gentleman playing live piano music, which adds to the charm. The food is plentiful and incredibly delicious. I highly recommend visiting this unique spot — it’s an experience you won’t forget!

Very nice restaurant with a spectacular view on the Rhine valley. Located within an old castle building, the interior is elegant, although bit old. Very good service, nice local menu with seasonal choices. Suitable for vegans. A nice selection of local wines available.
Katalin G — Google review
Great lunch menus, different every time. Very friendly staff. Top quality service and view. A must visit in Bonn
J S — Google review
It's a nice place to visit kinda fallen into disrepair, failing to stay the tourist attraction it once was. The top is freely accessible though there's admission fee to enter the tower itself, you still have a good view over the valley standing at the top of the "mountain" also there's a restaurant at the top.
Jelmer D — Google review
Magnificent view, nice covered outdoor area, bar is open. Check for restaraunt as only open limited times. However great food, friendly service in a unique setting.

Beautiful place, the walk uphill is not to long and up there the view is beautiful

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Schloss Drachenburg is a 19th-century villa that resembles a medieval castle and offers stunning views of the Rhine valley. It was built between 1882 and 1884 by Baron Stephan von Sarter, drawing inspiration from the romantic architecture of medieval castles along the Rhine River. The design incorporates Neo-Gothic, Romanesque, and Renaissance elements.
Beautiful castle, phenomenal views, friendly staff at the ticket office, on the Drachenfelsbahn and at the castle. The castle has been beautifully maintained and is in pristine condition. I particularly loved the stained glass and how each section gave one the opportunity to step back in time, surrounded by so much history. The gardens are also perfectly manicured, lovingly maintained and give one a sense of peace. A truly awesome experience
Nicolette R — Google review
What a gorgeous castle. We stopped in on our way to Cologne. The little train tram was fun. The many stained glass windows were so cool. The little cafe was good, we got tea and coffee and snacks. Views were amazing.
K H — Google review
A truly beautiful castle, high in the mountains, you either need to walk 40 minutes up a steep slope, or buy a ticket for a small train for 10 euros. Entrance to the castle costs 10 euros, you can buy it at the castle itself, you have access to the area around the castle and the castle itself, there are free toilets, places to eat and a restaurant, there are a lot of people. I advise you to carefully review the route in advance.
Sofia M — Google review
Went on a weekend, through the funicular costs 12 euro for adults and 6 euro for kids, better to buy combi tickets if you are visiting with family. The castle 🏰 was maintained well, and entry cost 10 euro for adults and 8 euro for kids. The Rhine river was so beautiful from the castle. A must visit place if you're visiting near colonge and Bonn.
Aravinth — Google review
The castle was incredibly beautiful and everything inside was just stunning and mind blowing. I love the fact that some known people and artists were painted on the windows in the main room. You should definitely visit it and no need to buy tickets online because you can buy them from there directly and the ticket for person was only 10€.
Aseel D — Google review
Truly a beautiful place to visit, the view from atop is stunning and the inside is just as nice as outside. For the price of 10 euro it's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Getting there is a bit harder you can walk what we did but the road is very steep tho doable. there is also a train that goes up a 2 way ticket costs 12 euros (1 way ticktet costs 10)

It was wonderful holidays in Drachenburg Schloss. A have already visited a lot of castles and palaces in Germany and this one was one the best: amazing views, incredible architecture, beautiful interiors 🤩 The staff here was polite and helpful, thank you so much ☺️ You need approximately 3 hours for this place: to look everything, to walk around and to make photos 📷. ❗️This place, of course, deserves you time to visit it.
Aleksey B — Google review
One of my favorite places in Europe and I’ve been all over. Definitely in my top 3 favorite castles anywhere in the world. Lovely architecture , you can apparently rent out the castle for an event or wedding . Highly recommend checking it out. Can hike up for free or take the 12 euro round trip tram 🚋

We were staying for a few days in Königswinter and had the possibility to visit few different restarurants during those days. I must say that this restaurant was by far the best we've visited. From the relaxed atmosphere, the polite and welcoming staff, to the fantastic versatile and delicious food, and all that for a fair and affordable price. So if you are in Königswinter and you're looking for a nice restaurant with great food, this is the place you want to visit.

We visited this Restaurant with a party of 8 of varying age. The food was great Italian food, very friendly staff and a tasteful ambiance. After spending three days in Königswinter and dining out all the time, we believe that this is the best Restaurant in Königswinter!

This place is fantastic. I come from New Jersey and I love my New York/New Jersey Pizza and this is by far the closest anyone has ever come to NY Pizza outside of NY. Portions were perfect, you go out of the restaurant full, but not over full. Most definitely would eat here again.

Food was okej, tiramisu was tasty. Service was excelent, very nice Italian owner.
Aleksejus Z — Google review
Pizza was good but pasta was quite soggy. They took so long to prepare our meal to the point I am so starving and I chose to eat this pasta out of hunger, not for pleasure. The service was fine, just a bit slow as the place seemed quite short-staffed.

Hellas-Grill in Konigswinter offers a taste of Greece in the heart of the city. The restaurant's ambiance is defined by eggplant and green colors, creating an inviting atmosphere to explore their diverse menu. Whether it's Gyros, Pizza, Burger or Schnitzel, there's something for everyone. Despite its location in an industrial zone, the restaurant is spacious with a prominent smokers' area at the entrance.
Amazing place, highly recommend. Kind and helpful staff. They apologized for not having an English menu though the staff spoke very good English. Food was great! Pleasing to the eyes and delicious on the palate. Restaurant was very clean. Great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating.
Luke P — Google review
Very tasty and not overpriced. I didn't have any good experience with Greek food while in Germany, but this one I really enjoy. Staff is very friendly. Always crowded.
Alex K — Google review
Food was good. Big portions as you'd expect from a greek restaurant. Didn't wait too long for it either. Staff seems nice as well. I've been there a few times with my family now. It's where we usually go to eat Greek.
Rei W — Google review
Located in an industrial zone of sorts, situated on a parking lot between supermarkets and car dealerships. The restaurant is quite large and has a big smokers' area up front which you need to pass through to get to the entrance. The vibe is more fastfood and takeout joint than cozy restaurant. Nonetheless, the Hellas Grill was packed with shoppers and families with kids on a Saturday evening. We had ordered takeout over an hour in advance and still had to wait around 15 minutes for our order. That said, the food was very good and tasty. The salads were fresh, the Zaziki aromatic and the very affordable portions huge. Excellent value for money!
B L — Google review
Family restaurant with good Greek dishes. Economical but abundant portions, fast service, also very adequate for a quick lunch.

Authentic Italian restaurant on a small village. The al fresco dining. The staff, especially the Italian guy (that has curly hair hihi :) ) is so friendly and humble that he gave us another scoop of Gelato. I ordered Lasagna al Forno and was so creamy and lots of mozarella. Perfect place for a little relaxation and dining outside. Very recommended. 👌🏻

(Translated by Google) Good food in a pleasant atmosphere. We sat in the conservatory and found it very nice. The acoustics there were also very good, as we barely heard the conversation from the neighboring tables but could hear each other quite well. The food is a bit more expensive, but you get a lot for it. We were very satisfied.
