Highfield Tea Factory in Coonoor offers a captivating experience for visitors interested in the tea-making process. The lush green tea gardens provide a picturesque backdrop as you witness the plucking of tea leaves and learn about the various stages of tea production. Additionally, the factory houses a small museum that delves into the history and significance of tea in the region.
This tea factory is in Coonor and can be visited on the way when one goes from Coimbatore to Ooty. The entry tickets are nominal. There is a free guided tour available. The entire process of how the various types of tea are processed and how eucalyptus oil is prepared is explained by the guide. He mentioned all the primary details about white tea, black tea, green tea and normal tea. Patiently answered each and every question raised by us. The walk from car parking to the tea factory is just 5minutes and can be done easily by old people as well. There were 2 shops. One for tasting of different type of tea(included in the ticket) and handmade chocolate(free). We liked the Mango chocolate. We purchased white tea knowing about it's benefits and yes purity of products offered over there.

Highfield Tea Factory in Coonoor offers an insightful glimpse into tea production, though experiences vary. The guided tour is a highlight, with knowledgeable staff explaining tea processing stages, from leaf picking to drying and sorting. Visitors appreciate the tea tasting session, featuring unique flavors like masala, ginger, and chocolate tea. The factory also showcases eucalyptus oil extraction and chocolate-making, adding diversity to the tour. The scenic tea gardens provide excellent photo opportunities, and the on-site shop sells teas, oils, and chocolates.  While many enjoy the tasting samples, a few caution against purchasing shop items due to inconsistent quality and occasional staff rudeness. Practical details: Timings: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM daily (closed Mondays)67. Entry fee: ₹30 for adults, ₹20 for children. Though the experience is educational and visually appealing, temper expectations regarding factory operations and shop purchases. Ideal for first-time visitors seeking a compact tea estate experience in Coonoor

The way they explained everything and yes tasting was really good! Just that masala tea what I got there was not tasting the same as the packed one which I got home! They also have shopping place there if you want to buy something!

We had a great visit to Highfield Tea Factory! The tour was very informative – our guide walked us through the tea processing plant, the Nilgiri oil extraction unit, and even their chocolate-making section. It was a knowledgeable and engaging experience that gave us a deeper appreciation of the local products. At the end of the tour, we visited their sales shop and picked up a variety of teas and other items. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Coonoor!

This is truly a wonderful place to explore and spend some time. The setting itself exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and enjoyment. Cardamom, with its unique and aromatic scent, lends a delightful flavor to the tea selections available here. Moreover, all the tea flavors offered are exceptional, each providing a distinct taste that caters to a wide range of preferences, ensuring that every visitor finds a flavor to enjoy.

Discover the secrets of making tea and learn how essential oils are extracted. Plan your breakfast and relaxation in a beautiful place with flowers and a clean environment. Don't forget to try the delicious dark chocolate available here, it's amazing!
Vasanth . — Google review
The route towards the factory is a bit narrow but drivable. Parking is enough for around 8-10 cars The factory is very small and the tour is not vast but they give you tea tasting which is good . You can take pictures in the green tea plants near the factory for sure The guide comes along with you till the shop and almost wont leave you until you buy something so that's a bit annoying

Laws falls is a beautiful, small falls at Coonoor. As you travel to Ooty from Mettupalayam, the waterfall is on the right side. The water flows down and goes under the road to the other side. It is very beautiful to see the falls from either side of the road. You cannot and should not get into the water. There is heavy traffic on this road, so please take care while crossing the road and also while viewing the falls.

You can see fall from road.. you have to stand on bridge. Bridge is narrow so you hv to be careful while clicking pictures. Monkeys are also there. 2-3 tea and pakora shops r there. You can sit n enjoy the beauty around. But again noisy area bcz of narrow road, bridge, turn. No need to go special to see fall. It’s better to add in your ‘en route’ list. It takes only 2-4 mints to look around.

This military-controlled church during the Raj era is adorned with a white marbled floor at the altar and features paintings of St. Michael, St. George, and a depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
All those who are looking to spend some ME time amid peace and spirituality, St. George’s Church can be the right destination to visit on Ooty tour. One of the most popular places to visit in Coonoor, St. George’s Church redefines its charm in its own way, thus attracting tourists from different parts of the world. It is a must-visit spot for experience seekers, photographers and religious lovers.
Manukrishnan K — Google review
St George's church is an essential tourists attraction. Constructed in the year 1926, the church is a beautiful remnant of the gothic structure of the British era. It is an archetypal cantonment church with white inlay work and an intense ochre stucco. The church is constructed in the ancient Raj style of architecture, with a serene environment. To witness the interiors of the church one has to pass through the vestibule where the vaulted roof with six iconic columns separates the church to side aisles. The altar is enriched entirely with white marble inlay which makes it look enchanting. Apart from this, the church houses a collection of paintings and curved interiors. A notable occasion at the church is the Sunday closest to the National Martyrs Day wherein a unique service in honour of our martyrs is held in the church. The station commander of Wellington places the wreath over a plaque that reads "when you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow, we gave our today."

The menu boasts a delightful fusion of Indian and Chinese cuisine, emphasizing rich flavors and high-quality ingredients. This cozy spot is perfect for gathering with loved ones while relishing the serene ambiance of the Nilgiris.
It was good dining experience. The quality of the ingredients reflects in the dishes. They even made the dish with care that we had 5yo kid with us. Pizza, Red sauce pasta, french fires were tried. All tasted good. Little pricey side though, considering the ambience, quality and location, price is justified for a family dinner. Thank you.

Lovely little restaurant with a cosy seating. Place gives a very positive vibe with it's white airy interiors. Food was delicious and served timely. Service was spot on. A small rack with books to while away time while waiting. They have a secluded washroom as well which was spick and span. Would definitely recommend this place for a relaxed and sumptuous meal.

The thin crust pizza was delicious. Would have given 5 stars if we hadn't had to struggle to find the correct spot.
Salini K — Google review
Edit - went here again after they've shifted. Pizza wasn't great, just average. I'll give them 3.5 stars. Had veg pizza with sundried tomatoes, it felt bland. The size was huge though - good for 2 people. Also, their beverages are not made by them, all readymade stuff so, that was disappointing. It's a small cafe with some 4 tables only, done nicely. Good place for lunch where one can sit out. They have open seating but covered with roof. We went for late lunch, there was 4 of us. Ordered corn, olives and onion pizza and sun-dried tomatoes pizza. Pizzas were good, thin crust, good size, well made. It's just tomatoes were not really sun dried. They customised our order on request. If you want to try two pizzas you can get half of each in one, that's what we did. Also ordered 2 chicken burgers, which were okayish. Had cold coffee and roasted almond cheese cake that were good. Overall, good place. They also have a guest house on top.

La Belle Vie is exactly what the name promises — a little slice of the good life tucked inside Coonoor’s hills. The moment you enter, the vibe hits you: calm, classy, sunlit, and quietly luxurious. It feels like the kind of place where time slows down just for you. We ordered the Veg Funghi with Blue Cheese Pizza and the Veg White Sauce Lasagna, and oh my god — both were absolute stunners. The pizza had this earthy mushroom flavour with that gentle hit of blue cheese… rich but not heavy. The lasagna was creamy, perfectly baked, and genuinely comforting. The food here feels thoughtfully crafted, not rushed. The ambience? Dreamy. It’s the kind of place where you want to sit for hours, talk softly, look outside at the valley, sip something warm, and pretend you’re in a European hill village. Service was polite, not intrusive, and the whole meal felt like a slow, beautiful experience. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a peaceful, elegant lunch with excellent food and a view that steals your heart.

This is a below average place honestly. I reached here around 1:30 PM on a Saturday. There were 4 tables in the outside seating area. All of them were reserved and I was told they need prior booking. I can completely understand this since those tables are in high demand, so I did not mind being seated inside. But the tables inside were also full. They were trying to accomodate me somehow - so they had me sit in some room that only had 2 tables. All furniture was dusty and they wiped it in front of me. At that point I would much rather have preferred if they refused to wait on me. Then, when it came to ordering, I was told that a lot of items were unavailable. Like a good 40-50% of the items were just unavailable. A lot of the other tables were struggling to order too. I was also told that the chef had to leave for some reason (in which case the place should have just been shut down) so they would not be able to make some items. After all of this, I still went ahead and ordered a soup, an appetizer (bruschetta) and a desert. Honestly - the soup and dessert were ordinary. Made me feel like this place was all about the hype with no substance to back it up. The worst of it all was the bruschetta, which was burnt on the edges! Really expected more from this place.

Went with a lot of expectations as the Google reviews and the interiors promised a cosy pub with great food. The establishment is going through a change-over of staff or may be the standards are sliding. These were our observations over lunch and dinner today: Cost: moderately expensive Decor: excellent Bar and cocktails: excellent Cleanliness: great Service: mixed, there were untrained and experienced staff but it purely depended on your luck Food: Pizzas were good Rice came dry with an over spiced Thai prawn curry Dimsum: undercooked Tortillas were great Pasta : good Desserts: none available despite a mouthwatering menu! Overall this page has great potential, good bartenders, rest of the service looks awkwardly put together like an incomplete project. Hope the management sorts the anomalies and get the place back to its original glory!

Hopscotch Pub in Coonoor is an absolute gem! The ambience is classy yet cozy, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy. The service was outstanding—special thanks to Perele and Johnson who made our evening extra special with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. Great music, amazing vibe, and definitely a must-visit when in Coonoor!

A good pub, tucked away in the hill city of conoor. When we entered it there was love music going on...the lady was belting out some super english oldies...settled down for some interesting food. Service needs to inprove tremendously. Lot of people are there but difficult to get their attention in the sound and low light...my suggestion is to keep a small button for calling service person. Rest ok..liked the place. Being weekend , its there late into the night

It's a nice and quaint joint if you're looking for live music to accompany your dinner. They have an excellent selection of wood fired pizzas 🍕 The staff is polite, well trained, courteous, efficient and knowledgeable. The ambience is nice. However, their menu has changed and there are NO pork dishes any longer. Therefore, don't go by their menu posted on some reviews, a mistake that I committed. Overall, worth your time and money.

South Indian restaurant
Hotel Sri Lakshmi in Coonoor is a popular dining spot among locals, offering home-style South Indian cuisine for breakfast and lunch. The extensive menu caters to various preferences, and their famous filter coffee is a must-try. Conveniently located near the Coonoor bus stand, this vegetarian restaurant provides quick service and a friendly staff.

This place ruined our perfect ooty trip. Everything we tried so far was amazing and we came here because a friend recommended this place and said it is one of the best. The sambar vada was stale, the veg kurma tasted like water, the paneer was below average. Overall, it looked like they just reheated whatever they cooked in the morning, didn't Matter if it was good or stale.

Unfriendly staff and My request to owner of this restaurant to kindly change your staff because they don’t know how to do hospitality. No Tissue served No salad served and on asked for onions the staff disrespectfully told to pay for it We ordered 4 chapati and 1 jera rice the staff didn’t even make us aware of the size of chapatis and rejected disrespectfully when we asked him to take 2 back because 2 chapati was more than enough. Check the screenshot.

We had a lunch in this restaurant today. We ordered mushroom biriyani, but the provide soya biriyani, that's only 2 mini pieces The add in it, the rest of it full of soya. Then unfriendly staffs. Very worst hospitality. Don't cheat people even in food.

I ordered paneer fried rice for parcel but they packed normal veg fried rice.. When they know to bill the right amount, they got to ensure the exact ordered item as well

The only decent Pure Vegetarian Restaurant in town. Caters to the people traveling by bus looking to have a quick bite. The food was decent, but not that hygenic. The service was quick. Would only visit again if I didn't have any other option.

This restaurant is very near to Coonoor bus stand and adjacent to New variety hall which is a well reputed shop of fabrics and sarees. Vegetarian food options available for both South and North Indians. The staffs are friendly. During my last visit a few years back I had seen some pictures of floods in Coonoor hanging on the wall of a restaurant which are missing this time.

Hyderabadi restaurant
When you find yourself in Coonoor, make sure to stop by the Hyderabad Biryani House, a gem that promises an authentic taste of South Indian cuisine. Perched atop a hill, this restaurant not only serves mouthwatering biryani but also offers stunning views of the Nilgiri Hills. Renowned for its aromatic spices and rich flavors, their biryanis have garnered a loyal following among locals and travelers alike.
No question on the taste, quality and quantity of food. Mutton Biriyani was amazing but I couldn’t finish it alone. We also had Manchow soup which was super delicious. There is nothing much of an ambience but you can view the Toy Train from the window if you are lucky. Parking is an issue as it is located above a petrol bunk.

The Biryani taste is normal nothing great as the brand goes by. The Quantity is good but don't go by the looks of it the regular Biryani comes with only one small chicken piece with huge bone. Still the biryani rice and Raita tastes good. Had asked for fork and spoon additionally to eat but it was not made available. I had asked for boneless Biryani but the server told us that it will not have Dum. Overall it's good Biryani but considering the price and the brand and service offered along with the ambiance it's not worth it, only good if you are really hungry and really want to eat

Typical hyderabadi biryani with less spice. But great taste and perfectly cooked food. Mutton biryani was awesome. Also the sweets were great. Reasonably priced. A must visit.

Awesome place in Ooty. You should try the chicken biryani, the price may seem a little high but worth it. They have awesome side dishes. Go to the 1st floor and enjoy the beautiful view with more beautiful food.

Decent, flavourful hyderabad biriyani but way too over priced. The rice is enough for two persons, but with a charge of 350/- per biriyani and serving only one chicken piece is not all a justifiable even if its hyderabadi biriyani. The place coud occupy a decent crowd and the seatings are nice and cozy.
