Nature & Parks
Eibsee is a breathtaking mountain lake located in the Wetterstein Mountains, known for its crystal-clear, deep blue waters. It is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a picturesque hiking loop and opportunities for boating. The area surrounding Eibsee is rich in natural beauty and serves as the gateway to the Alps, with easy access to Zugspitze, Germany's highest peak. Visitors can also enjoy modern amenities such as restaurants and hotels while experiencing Bavarian traditions and craftsmanship.
Without a doubt, the best and cleanest lake in Germany! The water is a bit cold due to the fact that it is next to the peak of Germany🇩🇪🗻. Definitely go for a round tour around the lake, you will see variety of amazing views🌅 It might be overcrowded over the weekend.
ÖZGÜR Ö — Google review
Beautiful, I recommend to go very early since the lake gets incredibly crowded from 9 a.m. The walk doesn't have lots of climbing, mainly a flat trail with amazing views. A relaxing walk and dogs enjoy it.
Marta K — Google review
Eibsee: Bavaria's Emerald Jewel Eibsee is, quite simply, an out-of-this-world natural spectacle. Located at the base of the mighty Zugspitze, it offers a visual experience that feels less like a hike and more like stepping into a postcard. The water is a startling shade of turquoise and emerald, perfectly reflecting the dramatic mountain backdrop, creating a truly picturesque and unforgettable scene. The main attraction is the well-maintained circular path that traces the shoreline. This gentle, family-friendly walk is a pure joy, leading you through quiet forests and over small inlets. The trail's highlight is easily the small, charming wooden bridge that crosses one of the narrower points, providing stunning views across the water toward the tiny islands dotting the lake. Beyond the immediate loop, a network of excellent, quiet trails branch off, inviting hikers to explore the surrounding dense Bavarian woods. Eibsee is the perfect blend of accessibility, tranquil lakeside beauty, and high-alpine majesty.
Girish V — Google review
Very beautiful. The water was warm on a chilly day. The walk around the lake is 9km. Very pure water, beautiful sights. Nice place to relax and take photos
Jagoda M — Google review
A god‘s marvel. The best view is when you are coming down from the Zugspitze with the cable car. The beauty and the serenity takes you in, just leaves you in awe of what nature can give to you. Eibsee is heaven on earth, just visiting once or twice is simply not enough.
Advait S — Google review
One of the most beautiful places in europe. Row/ paddle boat are available directly offline. However, tour (guide) boat needs to booked online in advance. Mobile toilets are available on the hike. There's a restuaraunt near the hoatung spot and that's the only place for food. Hiking takes around 3 hours with normal pace and few breaks. Row boat costs are around 15 euros for 4 people. Parking is available as well
Dhruva E — Google review
【This place is really suitable for hiking and water play】 Next time I come here, I will definitely bring swimsuit, beach shoes, a waterproof phone case and a mat. The most comfortable thing I can think of is to take a one-and-a-half-hour walk around the lake first, because of the shade of trees, it won't get sunburned at all. Then lie down by the lake to rest and play paddle boarding or kayaking for a while. It's a bit of a pity that I couldn't watch the sunset in order to catch the bus. I'll come again!

Nice destination within 1-1.5 hour ride from Munich. Can also visit zugspitze through cable transport (but bit expensive ~ 75€).

Zugspitze is a well-known alpine destination that offers a ski resort, glaciers, and cable car rides with breathtaking scenic views. The area features a historic building constructed by Adolf Wenz in the late 19th century, which includes a weather station and former royal high observatory. Visitors can experience the thrill of ascending Germany's highest mountain via cog railway and cable car.
The most beautiful cable car ride of my life, and the view… indescribable. This is something everyone should see.😍😍 We went up by cable car and came back down with the cogwheel train, which after a while offered a beautiful view of the lake, the mountains, and the surroundings. Also a must-see.😊
Marta A — Google review
Visited in the autumn season — no snow, but the view was absolutely stunning! 🍁 The surrounding mountains and lakes looked breathtaking in golden shades. The cable car ride was smooth and offered amazing panoramic views. Even without snow, Zugspitze felt peaceful and majestic.
Divakar A — Google review
Very cool, highly recommend even if the mountain is covered in clouds up top. If that’s the case it would be nice if the ticket was discounted, but rain or shine it’s 75€ per person. There’s a restaurant & bar up there as well
Chris O — Google review
Beautiful view, great experience as tourists. there is another cable that takes you to the skiing part it is on the other side of the mountain. car park just outside the cable station. restaurants and shop accessible restrooms very clean. there are 2 options to get up/down to Zugspitze, cable or train. it is 75€ 2 ways on the cable I felt terrible pressure going down so mabe it is better to take the train down.
Yael F — Google review
Top of Germany, Zugspitze is a majestic mountain in the Bavarian Alps. On a clear blue day, snow capped mountains in Austria, Switzerland and Italy are visibly from the viewing platform. There is a beautiful restaurant on top of the mountain, offering panoramic view of the surrondings.
Lawrence L — Google review
Great place to visit if you want to experience high altitudes without actual climbing. Fast transfer by the cablecar, or more slow ascent by cogwheel train. The building at the summit has multiple floors and observation desks, you can cross to the Austrian side. There are restaurants on both sides. You can also take another cable car to the other side and play in the snow, even in August. Breathtaking views. Go early in the day to beat the clouds. There is also a small church. The bravest ones can climb the actual summit with the cross. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours and bring a sweater. Even in August.
Elllen K — Google review
The Zugspitze is the largest mountain of the Germany situated in the range of Alps Mountain, located on the scenic border between Germany and Austria, is an unforgettable experience and a must do especially for the fully snow covered peak and the thrill of the ascent. I highly recommend the cable car over the cogwheel train for the most breathtaking views, though both are covered in the approximately €75 combined ticket (which includes skiing access). We started by riding straight to the summit for a stunning, almost indescribable panorama, witnessing the sunset from the peak was a truly magical moment. We then descended to the lower Zugspitzplatt where the vast snow fields feel like a different universe perfect for playing in the snow and skiing. The ample parking, the presence of helpful mountain volunteers, and the organized operation make it a safe and enjoyable trip. Tip: Be sure to wear appropriate gear, especially warmers and gloves, and note that the last descent is strictly enforced, so plan to be back on the train or cable car around 4:30 PM. A truly wonderful and perfect day trip!
Arunbhaarat — Google review
You can take the train to the mountain, from there you can take a cable car to the top. This was one of the greatest experiences we had it was so much fun going to the top. When you reach the top there’s snow everywhere and free sleds you can take and have some fun like you were a child. It’s really beautiful and worth every cent. There’s a restaurant on the top where you can enjoy a beer the good was also great

AlpspiX is a popular lookout platform that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and valleys. It was opened in July 2010 and features two steel footbridges crossing over each other in the shape of an X, protruding 25 meters off the side of the mountain. The platform provides superb views of Zugspitze and the surrounding mountains, as well as a panorama of Hollental valley 1000 meters below.
The hike from Alpspitze to Kreuzeck was an incredible experience. The breathtaking mountain views were truly stunning. The weather was perfect – sunny, but not too hot, which made the hike even more enjoyable. Interestingly, I didn’t encounter many tourists along the trail, allowing me to fully embrace the peace and closeness to nature. It was a calm and relaxing hike, perfect for disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

When planning our trip to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, I was initially hesitant about spending the money to ride up the mountain—but it was absolutely worth it. The sheer scale of the mountains and the breathtaking views from the top are impossible to fully appreciate until you’re there. I took dozens of photos, but none of them truly capture the experience—this is something you need to see for yourself. We chose to hike back down, and the trails were clearly marked and well maintained. Our goal was to reach the Partnach Gorge, but a trail closure due to a damaged bridge forced us to take a 1.5-mile detour. If you're planning to hike, I recommend checking ahead for any trail closures so you can adjust your route as needed. This was a highlight of our trip and something I’d recommend to anyone visiting the area.

First time in my life going up this high. I have a fear of heights but in a very specific way. Tip if you do too: Do NOT get on the Alpspix platforms. ...But otherwise it was very nice! I enjoyed the views a lot and I would love to come back here one day.

This place is just amazing If you are a mountain and nature lover you must visit it. Easy access, safe and many activities to do(walking, running, bicycle) And the view is just amazing !!!!!

Breathtaking experience and vistas. We were completely in awe. Felt like we were in heaven. Others must have felt it too as everyone up there seemed to be making an effort to stay as quiet as possible, as if not wanting to disrupt the peace and quiet. Must visit if skies are clear.
Sumitra N — Google review
Excellent experience. There is a restaurant at the base of the mountain and one on top. You can toggle between two different mountain tops and all of them have a restaurant. The views are amazing and it is very kid friendly as well.
Adam S — Google review
Amazing experience. I was up there by myself and it was so peaceful. Only setback is train is once an hour so I missed the train on my way back to Garmisch. But in the end the walk was beautiful. So not a bad thing!

Visitors can enjoy a tranquil environment surrounded by lush greenery, flower beds, and charming lily ponds inhabited by goldfish. The park offers an immersive experience with nature, featuring pathways adorned with pretty flowers and opportunities for barefoot walks on soft moss and smooth pebbles.
Pretty and small little park in the city centre.

Green, quiet and peaceful city park. There is a concert house there too. There is a place where children can take the shoes off and walk on stones and pebbles and have fun trying different textures. By the way here you can find a public toilet when strolling in the city.

The security guard in the park was unnecessarily rude and racist. I was having a cider on the bench in the park. I am a tourist and unsure about the laws of drinking a mild cider in a public park. He told me and my wife to get out that very instant and was gritting his teeth in anger while speaking to me. I respect laws of each place but he could have spoken in a nicer way. He didn't have to be so threatening and aggressive.

Scenic spot
Höllentalklamm, also known as the Hell Valley gorge or Hollental Valley, is a unique natural wonder located just six kilometers southwest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The gorge features hiking paths that lead through deep ravines with waterfalls, ice chunks, bridges, and tunnels. Visitors can follow trails to the summit at 1,045 meters and explore numerous tunnels and bridges along the way.
Was lucky today to enter for free. Heard it’s the last day but it’s worth even with 7 Euros. We did a circle hiking to through the gorge to Kreuzeck. It’s a 18km long path with 1000m up and down. Be prepared with professional hiking shoes and sticks as it’s about 6-7 hours trip. You can see the Zugspitze clearly.
Austin H — Google review
The gorge is amazing and the entrance ticket is more than deserved. The water is perfectly clean and amazing to just put your feet in it. The trail is very beautiful passing through the mountain and has amazing view on the waterfalls inside the gorge.
Gabriele V — Google review

Ionut B — Google review
Amazing and exciting gorge! Wild gorge, with many tunnels and surprises. It was a hot day and the water drops were very refreshing! So glad it is in Europe and not in the US that would probably close it for insurance reasons. Also nice that it is not as accessible as other gorges because requires some walking. It means that it is less crowded. You cn go up and down with the same ticket, just keep the receipt to show it on your way out. If it is on your way down from one of the higher trails, you will still need to pay when going out. Fee is cash only - 6 Euro for adult. Tiny lovely cafe in the entrance - take a hot drink or a soup after this thrilling gorge. Highly, highly, highly recommend! Don't miss it!
Avigail M — Google review
amazing view with only 7 € ticket watch out for the waterfall wear waterproof clothes takes about 3h from the bus station to the end
Lyuyang C — Google review
This is a beautiful and nice gorge. I didn't finish the trail because I had limited time. So I just started hiking from Hammersbach bus stop and I did hike and enjoy the amazing nature surrounding. The trail is easy but it is wet and slippery. Please wear hiking boots and if you have hiking pole, that would be great. It is more beautiful in Autumn (around October). Recommended for nature lovers.
Chananart C — Google review
Amazing place. It is located not so close to Garmish-Partenkirchen as Parnachklam. But there is less people and a lot of water surrounding you and it is so beautiful. Also you will have beautiful view on Zugspitze and valley. In the end you can enjoy German Kusine in a cafe with Zugspitze view.
Nataly G — Google review
No questions about the beauty of the gorge and the incredible engineering effort that was made to build it. But there are crowds of people, it is impossible to enjoy it, and also it doesn’t feel safe on narrow paths. The ticket line was 100m, took 40 minutes to wait in line on the mountain. I don’t recommend to go there on holidays.

Restaurant
Nestled at an impressive altitude of 2,600 meters on the Zugspitze, the Gletscherrestaurant Sonnalpin offers a delightful culinary experience amidst breathtaking mountain scenery. This charming eatery features a cozy blockhouse atmosphere and provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Guests can savor a variety of dishes, from traditional Bavarian specialties to international delights, with daily specials that keep things exciting.
If you are visiting this tourist site, then you can not do much better than take the cable car down to the glacier and have a bite to eat and drink here. Fabulous views, a decent small menu, and plenty of seats inside and put. Of particular interest would be the currywurst and the apple strudel...both of which I was told was worth the visit. Overall, it's recommended, especially as there are only 3 choices anyway. This seemed the best of the bunch.

Had a great time eating here. The veggie burger is so good that having taken the first bite I wasn't sure if maybe the waiter didn't hear me well and served me a real meat burger. Service is quite good and fast, there's a nice variety of drinks and main dishes. Portions are pretty big too.

Very cozy inside, very kind and understanding people working there, delicious food. My tea was taken from a table by accident and a man working there came and helped with much more tea :) thank you so much :) Dampfknödel is must there! <3

This was one of the best experiences we had in Germany. While the food was quite average, we loved spending time at this Cafe. The raspberry cake could've been more moist and the beef patty in the burger could've been more tender, but the view, the experience, the sun, sky and snow made it a perfect setting. Luckily we didn't have to wait to get a table. The coffee was great and the price point was also pretty similar to any avg Cafe price in Germany. I highly recommend going to this place ❤

I was there in the end of October, before the ski season was launched. There were very bad options for vegetarians, I had the potato with grilled veggies and Frischkäse. My boyfriend had the goulash which was tasty, served with noodles. It was expensive and the food was pretty average, but the view is absolutely awesome, it’s worth having lunch there.

Great variety of burgers. Pretty big burgers too. Love the Kramer Slammer. Great French Fries and the Potato Wedges are just as good. Nice variety of cold beers but I wish they had a regular Dunkel instead of the Weiss Dunkel. Just a personal preference. Anyway, our second time there and we'll definitely be back. Fast, friendly service too.

Classic burger restaurant. The burger was good but what bothered me was that we weren't asked how we wanted the meat, and it came medium rare. On the other hand, the cocktail and colaweiss were good, as were the fries

What the hell??? It was for sure the best burger in my life…. I took “special one with pesto from garlic rukola bacon” I won’t change anything it was simply perfect. The dessert was okay (not the best one). The mojito with mango was as well fantastic ! 10 of 10 for THAT DAMN BURGER ❤️ I wish I could take your restaurant to Prague :(

Coffee taste really good however for the price that we paid I expect a little effort on the foam on cappuccino not just a bubbly milk foam. That is why I hesitate to give 5stars. Place looks really great though after certain hours you might not have anything left to snack.

Café Bar Berge is a cozy breakfast restaurant that serves hearty egg dishes, cereals, fruit, cheese and coffee. The atmosphere is chilled out and comfortable, and the service is great. They also have a great kids table.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a delightful freshly made treats. I had a ginger tea that was incredibly fresh, with a vibrant, zesty flavor that made it one of the best teas I’ve ever had. To complement the tea, I indulged in a chocolate cake that was rich, moist, and utterly satisfying. Together, they created an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a cozy café with exceptional offerings.

My spouse ordered the Klassisches and I ordered the Pink Passion smoothie bowl, along with cappuccino. The eggs were made perfectly, the raspberry jam was delicious, the coffee was so good we got another round for take away, and the smoothie bowl was lightly sweet without being sugary. The server was very kind to us despite our poor German. The space is adorable, with cosy mismatched dishware and seating.

Pizza restaurant
La Baita is an Italian restaurant located in the center of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, offering a diverse menu featuring pizza, pasta, and other Italian dishes. The rustic trattoria with a wood-paneled interior also has a terrace for outdoor dining. While the restaurant offers some vegan options, they mainly consist of dishes without cheese. Visitors can enjoy delicious Italian cuisine in a great environment, with a non-smoking area available outside for families and non-smokers to enjoy.
We visited a charming Italian restaurant in Garmisch and were absolutely delighted! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, like a little slice of Italy in the Alps. The seafood dishes were outstanding – the fish was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, while the seafood risotto was rich and full of fresh, delicate flavors. The service was impeccable – attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. A wonderful place to enjoy a special meal after a day in the mountains. Highly recommend!

First time visiting this restaurant in Garmisch Germany. We walked to it from the hotel a couple blocks down the road. The restaurant is next to the main road and easy to get to. There is a really large covered outdoor seating area as well as an indoor dining room. The service was really good with the server attentive and friendly. The pizza we ordered was really good and a good portion. It’s big enough for two people. The only small negative thing was the fact that there was not an English menu. Thank goodness for Google translate. We will definitely go back.

Best Pizza & Tiramisu in Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Family-Friendly Italian Restaurant La Baita in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is easily one of the best Italian restaurants in Bavaria. If you’re searching for authentic pizza in Garmisch-Partenkirchen or “best pizza near me,” this is the place to go. The pizza is outstanding — thin, crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and flavor. It’s the best pizza in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The highlight for dessert is their incredible strawberry tiramisu. It’s light, flavorful, and the perfect way to finish an Italian meal. On top of the food, the service at La Baita is excellent. The staff are welcoming, attentive, and make you feel right at home. For families, this restaurant is a gem ..they offer kid-friendly food options, high chairs, and comfortable seating, making it one of the best family-friendly restaurants in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. La Baita is a must-visit. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere for both couples and families.

La Baita is fast and delicious. We are here a few years ago while visiting Garmisch and when we returned for a visit,we made sure it was the first place we ate. The pizza is amazing, but the pasta was even better. I had the Penne Arrabiatta and it was the perfect combination of spice and garlic. My husband had the Rigatoni with gargonzola and it was wonderful as well. We also ordered a mixed salad, the dressing was perfect....our dinner was so good, we made reservations to eat here for dinner each night of our 3 day visit.

One of the places that seem to be busy all the time, which is a good sign. The restaurant was quite full and there were many takeaways as well. Found the many to be extremely huge and too many options but the items we got were of good quality. The person taking the orders was very friendly and professional. Can definitely recommend this place and very centrally located.

Truly Authentic Italian Experience! From the moment you walk into this gem of a restaurant, you're transported straight to Italy. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and elegance, with warm lighting and inviting aromas wafting from the kitchen. The menu is a celebration of classic Italian cuisine — fresh, seasonal ingredients brought together with passion and simplicity. I highly recommend starting your meal with the baby calamari — perfectly tender, lightly crisped, and served with a delicate hint of citrus that elevates the flavor. They were simply divine and a testament to the kitchen's expertise in seafood. I had the pleasure of trying the Vitello Tonnato. The thinly sliced, melt-in-your-mouth veal paired beautifully with the velvety tuna-caper sauce. The combination was elegant, balanced, and every bite felt like a true Italian classic brought to life. The wood-fired pizza had a thin, crispy crust and toppings that tasted like they were flown straight from Naples. Service was impeccable, with knowledgeable staff who made excellent wine recommendations and truly cared about creating a memorable dining experience. To top it all off, the tiramisu was flawless — light, creamy, and just the right balance of coffee and sweetness. If you're searching for authentic Italian food that feels like a trip to the heart of Italy, this place is a must-visit. Buonissimo! 🍷🍝🍕
