First of all there is a road, although google map says there isn’t. You can easily drive there up to the waterfall. And I recommend you to drive if you go there with the kid. The hiking is quite difficult there especially with the kid’s stroller. The damn itself is very nice. There is also a lake with the birds on it. The spot is quite picturesque and tranquil.

Waterfalls
Nestled in the picturesque village of Pano Platres, the Kalidonia Waterfall is a stunning 42-foot cascade surrounded by lush cypress and pine trees. The journey to this natural wonder is just as enchanting, with the Kalidonia Trail offering a delightful 2.5-kilometer walk through vibrant greenery and melodic birdsong. While the trail is moderately easy, be prepared for some slippery spots near the water's edge.
It took us about 1h to reach the waterfall (we didn't go further than that). Being early March we didn't see many people and have been able to park by the starting point. Wear appropriate shoes, it's not difficult but some tricky parts. We did enjoy this little hike.

We did the 9km hike, first 3km ascent. Last 6km descent. Great views especially on the descent. We had overcast (see pictures) but with clear ski this should be a lot better. Tip: go to the trout farm restaurant!

Beautiful trail but not suitable for old people or people who can't walk and climb very far. There are a lot of rocks but the trail is worth the views! Made it to the waterfalls!

A tricky hike up to the water fall - lots of rocks, tree roots and quite steep in places. 40mins to get to waterfall from where we parked. Make sure you have sturdy footwear and a bottle of water. And yes it was worth the hike.

Beautiful, small waterfall. The water is super cold but perfect for quick refresh. Overall the place is worth visiting, the trail is pretty easy. Parking lot may be crowded in the season, in late November there were single spots for cars.

Walked up from the trail starting 300 m down from the New Helvetia Hotel in Platres. It takes about 30 minutes. To me it was more as I regularly paused to look around. The landscape, trees, roots, stones, vegetation, are scenic and eery. Wear appropriate shoes and if in the summer do take water with you! It's not a hard walk but at times it's a bit challenging and turns a bit steep. And because it's very dry due to the drought, it's quickly slippery on the way down. I still would advise trousers although most people wear shorts due to possible snakes (vipers). Definitely worth it. Very appeasing.

A great route for hiking with children. 👍🏼 Beautiful nature and fresh air - good choise for the weekend getaway.

Great hike, peaceful nature and of course a modest waterfall at the end of the journey. Note that it takes up to 1.5km to reach the waterfall. The billboard at the beginning says only 1km

Park
Tours
The Sparti Platres Rope Adventure Park provides an incredible experience for children aged 6 to 11, offering nearly three hours of enjoyable activities. With a cost of 62 units for two kids, the park places great emphasis on safety through a thorough briefing and the provision of necessary safety gear. It only takes a few minutes for children to grasp how to operate the latches along each route, which are marked by metal strings. Despite large crowds, the park manages to avoid feeling overcrowded.
The park fits to all ages, from infants to adults. Spare a few hours for enjoying, because it is time consuming,in a good way! The kids didn't want to leave.
Ehud S — Google review
The park could be a great spot to bring the kids, but the prices are simply outrageous and take away from the entire experience. For even the smallest child, entry starts at €25 for barely an hour's worth of activities. It goes up to €33 per child for regular options and a staggering €45 for the extreme lines. At these prices, it’s hard to enjoy the park without feeling ripped off. It’s a shame because the park itself has potential, but the steep costs really make it hard to recommend.

Not Recommended! Like many others have mentioned, the prices here are ridiculously high! €100 for two kids and one adult just to climb on ropes? That’s way too much. 😅 The staff was friendly, and the experience itself was enjoyable, but definitely not worth the cost. In the end, it’s just climbing and hanging on ropes. For this price, I’d expect staff to be readily available throughout the course, but instead, you have to go all the way to the entrance if you need help—completely impractical! I wouldn’t return at this price.

Amazing experience especially for kids. Gives them a lot of confidence and freedom. Highly recommend.

It’s fantastic!!! Best attraction on whole Cyprus!!! You MUST go here with children or without!

Our kids (9 & 12 years old) had a great time. The security staff and security system are very well done. The variety of tracks and levels are very wide and suits everyone from the youngest to the eldest (even the adults). Despite the heat, kids were under the tree all the time. It's definitely a place to recommend
Davina D — Google review
Was there with 8 years old som. Pro: great activity for kids. Cons: 1. value for the money. As it mentioned here you need to pay 45 euro for kid for starting really enjoying the place. 2. The way you pass the the safety rope between different points is complected for kids (and sometimes for grownups). 3. Not too much chalange variation. On the whole it was just ok, but definitly not the place to return.

This is a great place to go to if you have kids and they want to have a lot of fun. There are a number of different routes, to suit different abilities of children. And why not have a go yourself? Provided you don''t way too much, there's nothing to stop adults making a fool of themselve.

Shopping
Nestled in the heart of the Troodos Mountains, Platres Chocolate Workshop offers a delightful experience for chocolate enthusiasts. This charming shop showcases a variety of delectable treats, including unique flavors infused with local Cypriot liquors and spices. A visit to this dedicated local chocolate producer promises a tasty journey through the international cocoa world, making it a must-visit destination in Platres village.
Awesome chocolate experience for kids and adults! The workshop was great fun for the kids. they have learned a lot on chocolate, how it's produced and how to know when it's high quality or not. The owner was very nice and patient with the kids. Gave them chocolate tasting (and for the adults too) and finally we bought some great chocolate to take home. The kids got a tablet of chocolate they created each in a beautiful package with their name on. Also the hot chocolate is absolutely perfect, don't miss it!

We had a wonderful experience at this chocolate workshop. Communication beforehand was excellent—quick and clear via email. The workshop was led by the owner, who is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about all things chocolate and cacao. They import beans from around the world and make the chocolate on-site, which made the experience all the more authentic and interesting. Although this isn’t specifically a kids-oriented workshop, we came as three adults and two children, and the kids were fully engaged. They asked lots of questions, all of which were answered with patience and enthusiasm. A great experience for chocolate lovers of all ages!

We came during a chocolate festival and they offered a tour. The tour was very expensive for what we got. It included a short explanation about three machines, tasting of champagne with chocolate and hot chocolate and the price was 15 EURO per person. We were disappointed of the tour, their chocolate is nice and feels high quality though.

Very nice place! The girl there gave us a whole presentation about the history of cacao and how do they purchase it and the proceedure that they use to make the chocolates. She also gave us samples of the different varieties of chocolates from different countries to try. We tried the chocolate drink that they have there in the machine. It was absolutely delicious, very rich in flavour and consistency. We loved flava chocolate, chilli chocolate and jungle chocolate! You should try cyprus coffee chocolate, was insane!!

Disrespectful behavior of the owner. She always thinks she knows better and tried to direct your choice from what you wanted exactly towards something more expensive, and after that she gives a little gift or tiny discount to make the punishment a little sweeter. Very rude. She can only talk, not listen. Never compliments, only criticizes the choice. Learn to listen, please.

A surprisingly good, friendly and totally dedicated local chocolate producer in the middle of Platres village. A tasty journey in the international cocoa world with a touch of local spices and herbs. Taking into account the extremely small number of handmade chocolate producers on the island this is a must visit. Enjoy..!!
Gee K — Google review
Real chocolate made with love! I was a bit sceptical of the place at first but the owner is a true chocolate expert and make their chocolates from scratch. The packaging of some of the chocolates is so good that makes you think its an international product but it's not! I'll be back again and try more varieties!
George — Google review
She basically kicked us out due to an ongoing class and despite the fact that she promised me a hot chocolate cup that I was not able to take as it had run out. If she didn’t want the guests, she should not have opened the store and should not have made a promise she would later not keep in the worst possible way. She then proceeded to close the door and change the sign from open to closed right in our face and as we were sat outside waiting. Very rude and unprofessional.
