Park
Nature & Parks
Toneri Park, located in Adachi ward in northeast Tokyo, is a vast 60-hectare park that offers a wide range of leisure facilities. It boasts sports amenities such as tennis courts, a baseball field, and an athletic field. The park also features a plaza, pond, and BBQ areas for visitors to enjoy.
Such a beautiful park, people can have picnics, do day camping, family gatherings and so on. For camping you have to rent the campsite. Especially during cherry blossom season it's a must visit place. There are several paid parking areas nearby the park.

I did really enjoyed the place for 3 hours doing a self photoshoot. Because it’s a popular park a lot of visitors came here to take photos and videos specially doing photo shoot of their pets. And yeah everyone will also have a chance to see cute puppies 😍. As it gets crowded taking pictures with a clear background is really taking time☺️. All in all enjoy the park.
Rene F — Google review
I went here in early May for a chance to see nemophilias in Tokyo and I wasn't disappointed. Toneri Park offers much more than I expected, with its vast space, tranquil atmosphere and various features. There's an area for fishing as well. A good change of scenery from the bustling city center.
Vita I — Google review
Beautiful park located in north side of Tokyo. After two days of rain and one cloudy day there was a great crowd showing up. This park is popular among seniors. Also families with young children. But some grassy areas turned into marsh fields. This is a very large park. Even a lake or pond. Also there’s a sledding area for kids. Many kinds of Sakura still in full bloom.
Satsuki H — Google review
we came here in mid april and that's the last bit of the cherry blossoms! thanks god it was a bright sunny day and with the pink from sakura, green from the grass and leave, blue sky, all was beautiful! there were a lot of people too but still we could manage a place to sit down and enjoy the lovely scene. happy to come again next year for another sakura party. more travel ideas, photos & videos👇🏾 follow me on ig: food.n.cats.not1less

Such a beautiful place and not really crowded. Good spot for hanami and doing picnic during cherry blossom season

It’s safe to say, one of the largest park in The city. It’s well maintained, a lot of spaces and playgrounds. There are spots for camping as well. In another word, to spend quality time with friends or family, this is one of the best spot. The afternoon here can be quite relaxing.
Ridwan A — Google review
One of the most beautiful parks in Tokyo, more beautiful than Yoyogi! Glad that I have a park as beautiful lile this nearby! You can go for bbq or tent in the summer. The park got bigger since a new area was opened in 2021. Ther’s an athletic area for children.

Nature & Parks
Higashi-Ayase Park is a unique U-shaped park in Tokyo, featuring a 2 km promenade connecting plazas and lined with cherry blossoms. The park offers various amenities such as baseball fields, lakeside paths, kids' playgrounds, and even tennis courts with well-equipped changing rooms. Families can enjoy picnics under the sakura trees, watch waterfowl in the pond, or take leisurely strolls along the pathways.
A big beautiful park near Tokyo budoukan. I went here during the sakura season and it was so pretty. There are benches everywhere to sit and relax. Many sakura trees, many families were doing picnics there, talking, eating and drinking. There is a small lake and bridges and cute ducks. You can walk your dog, cycle, and picnic. There are playgrounds too for the kids to play. The park is long so people can sit anywhere. There are public restrooms and convenient stores nearby. It is pretty and clean. Totally recommend.
Aditi — Google review
There is a play area.. good place for hanami in Sakura season
Hasini — Google review
It is a nice park near Ayase station. I think it's a great and convenient place to jogging, running and exercising, cause the shape of the park is exactly a "ring". So of you live near around, it's worth trying.
Palantir M — Google review
We’re here almost 3 time a week with my son and walking in the night with my husband,,, its really long and big park good for walking, the sakura its good at the spring,, im exited for coming autumn im sure its beautiful too
Eito’s ( — Google review
It was quite and small park, and there were lots of local people jogging, and kids hanging out. I was the only foreign traveler. Big trees, local swmming pool and baseball ground. It takes avout 20mins from ayase station by walk, even nearer from kita-ayase station. Recommend for who visited tokyo several times, wants quite and local place to walk. Fully surrounded by residential area. Better go to ayase station if you're hungry or thirsty.
달픈 — Google review
Neat little park in a suburban area. Quick walk from train station. Went to annual Iris Festival, small but nice, family-oriented day out, with stalls, activities for kids and food vans.
Jacqui P — Google review
Really good park. The park is structured as a long walkway instead of a circular shape. It has a lot of ponds, water wheels and other attractions. Also close to the station. Very good place to enjoy an evening or have a walk. During sakura the park is very beautiful with lots of blooming trees. Also there are areas for children to play and also a baseball court. Highly recommended for family and couples.
Ajay M — Google review
It's a fairly large park, spanning multiple city blocks. Walking the park at a leisurely pace would take about an hour, although if you walked straight through without stopping you could get through it a lot faster. For kids there are a several play structures, but the best ones are found on the west side of the park (it's close to the Police box if you look at the Google map). There are plenty of waterways for the kids to play in (there's no water park though). For adults, it's good for a nice stroll or picnic. There's a swimming pool found on the East side of the park. There's also a couple baseball fields found on the East side and one in the center of the park. There's not a lot of big open fields The park would be a nice park to visit for families. The kids may get tired walking the entire park, so you may want to pick which part of the park you want to go to and go straight there. The west side is the most kid friendly. Near the centre of the park there's a very nice pond and stream area to walk around and even picnic.

Zoo

Adachi Park of Living Things is a small zoo and aquarium located in Adachi City, Tokyo. It offers interactive experiences with various living creatures, including insects, fish, amphibians, and birds. The park also features an amusement area with traditional attractions like a ferris wheel and go-kart circuit. Visitors can enjoy hand-feeding animals and exploring the butterfly house. Additionally, there are covered fishing ponds on-site.
The best animal/Zoo Park I ever visited in Japan! So much to see. So many nice animals. Really beautifully designed. It was very empty on a Friday afternoon. loved it. hidden treasure this Park. And it costs only 300Yen. I will come again.
GmanCommand — Google review
It’s really astonishing and surprising that they have so many different types of species and specimens in that place. If you have a kid or a date, definitely go there. You will enjoy a quality time. Although they doesn’t have much land type animal. They have a quite a collection of water type. After enjoying the inside of park. You can have a nice picnic there. There are lots of space and quite a big field to spend morning or evening with friends or family
Ridwan A — Google review
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Adachi, this park was such a refreshing find. It’s not the kind of place that screams for attention, but that’s exactly what makes it special. The entrance fee is just 300 yen, and for that, you get a surprisingly rich experience. The butterfly greenhouse was a highlight for me. Walking through it felt like stepping into a dream, with butterflies fluttering all around. It’s not every day you get to be so close to these delicate creatures in such a serene setting. Beyond the butterflies, the park offers a variety of exhibits. There’s a large aquarium near the entrance showcasing vibrant goldfish, and various enclosures housing reptiles, birds, and small mammals. One of the most charming aspects is the petting area, where you can interact with guinea pigs and rabbits. It’s clear that the animals are well cared for, and the staff are attentive and friendly. The park also hosts seasonal events, like firefly viewing in the summer, which I’ve heard are magical. While I didn’t get to experience that myself, it’s on my list for next time. Getting there requires a bit of effort—a 20-minute walk from Takenotsuka Station—but it’s worth it. The surrounding area is peaceful, making the journey part of the experience. If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and enjoy a more relaxed, nature-focused outing, Adachi Park of Living Things is a wonderful choice.
TORQue T — Google review
A cute little park, it has more insects and water creatures compared to land animals. The land animals seem quite healthy and happy. But the tanks seem a bit small for the shark and bigger fishes. For just 300 yen per person, I’d say it’s a pretty good park! There is also a huge area for picnic and a nice playground for kids. They also have small domesticated animals like guinea pigs and cats.
Majesta — Google review
Nice small zoo with unique animals, eye opener
Morti N — Google review
I was really surprised at how good this facility is. It’s a local endeavor, so I didn’t expect much; but it it turned out awesome. They have poison dart frogs, exotic snakes, Amazonian fishes, tropical plants, butterflies of all sorts, birds, beetles, and even a kangaroo, among various other animals. It’s excellent for young children, too. If you’re a resident of Adachi-ku, one day per month is a free visit. Just check the website for details. All in all, it’s a well put together park and is definitely worth a visit, especially if you live in the general area.
M. D — Google review
Recommended place to visit, both for the young and old. Seeing the animals inside is a nice experience. They have a firefly room available for viewing during the daytime but there are slots so you need to sign up. I think it’s available only in the summer. It’s not as great as the actual thing but it’s probably the best chance you have if you can’t go out of Tokyo. The entire place is actually wonderful, too. About 1-2 hours is enough to see everything.
Bernadette G — Google review
I have mixed feelings about the place. It was quite interesting and I enjoyed my time there. I am a bit concerned with sizes of the cages that animals and insects inhabit. I felt especially bad for two cute little monkeys. For sure great place for children or just for some rest in a nice surroundings.

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Nishiarai Daishi, also known as Gochisan Henshoin Sojiji Temple, is a large Buddhist temple complex located in Nishi Arai, Adachi-ku, Tokyo. It belongs to the Toyoyama school of Shingon Buddhism and was founded in 826 by Kukai. The temple is famous for its eleven-faced Kannon statue that was carved to save people from an epidemic of malaria.
One of the largest temple I've visited in Adachi City. It has food stalls inside, the tree's during the winter is really looking good, the ponds are fill with fishes and there are a lot of statue to explore. I hope to go there in spring as well. A nice place to spend few hours with family or friends. Recommended for any foreigners who loves to visit shrine.

Beautiful to explore in all seasons. The grounds are fairly spacious as far as temples in Tokyo go, so it’s good for toddlers/small children to wander around. The pond area to the left of the temple is so scenic. Very quiet on weekdays. We enjoy getting our new year fortunes here. Lots of food stalls and atmosphere on weekends and holidays. Don’t miss the wisteria in April - it’s gorgeous.

04/11/2021 I visited here for its famous Peonies' Garden. Luckily wisterias has just bloomed and late blooming double-flowered cherry trees are in full bloom now. 10/18/2020 This year is my first unlucky year, so I visited here to remove the bad luck.

Charming temple, went in July for a windchime festival. Several food & ice cream stands leading up to temple grounds. Wasn't as easy to access compared to other shrines & temples in Tokyo, had to take an extra bus from closest station so that could be intimidating for tourists.

Stunning architecture , gardens , koi ponds , best days are 8, 18 or 28th of any month , Sundays and festival days 0bon and new year Eve , or if you want to go and have the place nearly all to your own any week day is very quiet .

Lovely working temple in use by the locals. A very impessive structure. Lovely peaceful gardens to sit and reflect. Shops selling interesting foods, snacks and souvenirs on the street in front of the temple.

Adachi Nishiarai Daishi Sojiji is the biggest Buddhist temple in Tokyo’s Adachi special ward. It has a vast compound. Besides, the space of the main hall is charming to walk around. The main gate, monuments, small ponds, and a few small shrines on the right were attractive.

In summer, the park comes alive with vibrant greenery and showcases 6,500 hanashoubu (Japanese flowering plants) of about 80 varieties in the Shobu Field.
This place just like another park around tokyo. But park design for all age groups. Its have open play ground, swing, sand play, seesaw, and also pond. They wide range of sessional flowers collection. Most attractive is the artificial water fall, its water bed. It is most amazing part of park, specially in summer. Kids love it. Refreshing place! scenery is good though the weather is hot it makes me refreshed because of the sounds of the flowing water and the leaves

Sprawling public park with an emphasis on the Japanese Iries, part of the flowering spectacle that is common to the Iris family. There are different plots dedicated to the growing of such plants that are sponsored by residents or companies. You can also find groves of Sakura trees that'd be really nice to view on spring as well as maple trees whose leaves in autumn would be a treat. Flowing through this park are water channels and a revolving waterwheel. And to round it off, there are the usual public toilets, a baseball field as well.

Ramen restaurant
Tanaka Shōten is a popular ramen spot known for its delicious tonkotsu broth and thin noodles. The Negi Char Siu Ramen, featuring flavorful green onions and slightly salty char siu, is a favorite among visitors. Despite the long lines, the service is efficient, with orders taken while waiting in line and payment made at the register. The large establishment offers an English menu and ample seating.
Ramen Tanaka Shoten is a traditional Hakata Ramen place sort of off the beaten track in Adachi ward. While the company that owns this shop has other noodle places in more central locations in Tokyo, Tanaka Shoten is in a rather obscure residential neighborhood far from any train station and is only their tonkotsu ramen specialty restaurant. One can certainly smell the shop before one arrives at the door as the strong smell of cooking pork and bones permeates the air on the street. Despite its rather remote location, this is a popular restaurant and there was a pretty long line when we arrived a little before 8pm on a Japanese holiday evening. Despite the long line, we didn’t wait more than 30 minutes before we got a seat, and the atmosphere is very “Ramen” shop (the line grew exponentially however as we waited). To add to the rather “gruff” appearance of the restaurant and staff, the AC was broken so it compounded the smell of the pork and was almost unbearably hot. Despite this, we stayed as the suspense had built up, and we had to try this ramen. The pork is perfectly cooked, and the ramen broth is a very strong and hearty tonkotsu broth. Their signature bowl is chashu with negi on top, we opted to have two eggs added to each of our bowls, and ordered and extra side of chashu with negi which ended up being too much food. The menu is simple, there is no alcohol, and aside from extra chashu, rice, and adding eggs, there are no appetizers (gyoza etc). It is a traditionally pure tonkotsu ramen. Hopefully the location will keep away the tourist hoards, but either way this place is already popular with locals so if you decide to make the trek, be sure to get their early or expect to wait. Definitely one of the best Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens in Tokyo.
Jiro — Google review
Probably the most legit Hakata-style tonkotsu you can get in Tokyo. The broth is a rich, creamy pork bomb, but never too greasy or overpowering. Super-thin noodles done harigane are a must—snappy, wheaty, and perfect for soaking up that soup. I added the akaoni spice ball, melted it in a separate bowl, and mixed it in slowly. The heat builds in layers. Absolute genius. After my kaedama, I hit the soup with a touch of grated garlic and a dash of motodare to rebalance the flavor—perfect move to bring it back to life after the dilution. Getting here ain’t easy, and they’re only open for dinner. Usually a long line, but I lucked out on a Thursday night. Minimal wait. Bad access? Maybe. Worth the trip? Absolutely.
Sho Y — Google review
I came at 22:00 Saturday and as you can see in the picture it was super crowded. However, the rotation of the service is fast so I think you can get a seat in 20-30 minutes. I see groups of 2, 3 or 4 lining up, and some come with families. There are counter and tables to use. The taste is not bad, I’m not used to thin soup and chashu. Unfortunately the chashu ramen tasted more like bacon (it was thinly sliced) so I was disappointed. I think tonkotsu ramen should be good on its own, but personally it lacked salt. I can see why there are condiments on the table to help, but again I think good ramen comes from not adding anything.
Hollow S — Google review
Awesome hakata tonkotsu , by far better than others hakata shops in the Kanto area . When you are outside the shop and feel the smell of pork broth you already can tell that this is a delicious ramen , I loved it , unfortunately because I live in Yokohama I can not visit this shop often . Takana veggies were bit more spicy than other places , I liked it a lot.
Rareș S — Google review
In Tokyo's Adachi district, late-night ramen shops are like water in the desert. Guess what? They even got an English menu! And the taste is very good, they provide free water, but it is a pity that there are no other drinks (such as beer) options.
NobodyButCat — Google review
We love their noodle soup a lot because the taste, rich flavor pork bone soup, Thin noodles, roasted pork, green onion and sliced fungus. A great combination. They also have fresh garlic, spicy sauce for someone who loves spicy, usually during the winter we need to Waite for more than 30mins to get in to the shop. They only open at night time
Aki Y — Google review
Without question the tastiest tonkotsu outside fukuoka. I have been to Japan 4 times in 6 years always spend over 1 month & always my first bowl of ramen is here in Tanaka when I land and get sorted in hotel. The broth is beyond creamy and delicious, It packs so much flavor it needs nothing added to it such as white pepper or chilli oil. ( but if like me add some half way though ) Noodles are nice and fine so they oborsb the broth exceedingly well. And excellent decision to have small instead of thick noodles. The flavor is just so creamy and silky smooth. This is ideal for when the cold winter months hit and you crave ramen and would like something to warm you up and fill you belly. I would recommend the spice mince they also sell ( turns your ramen into like a spicy miso ) recommend it - 200¥ Please look no where else but Tanaka shoten. 10/10 ramen 🍜 10/10 service 10/10 - my personal favorite ramen in Japan
Ciarán B — Google review
My family has been coming here ever since I was a kid living in this neighborhood. Came to eat after more than a decade, the taste is still there. Not much to say about this place other than it has one of the greatest tonkotsu ramen. Every bite is filled with memories! I would definitely be a weekly customer if I lived closer.. the tonkotsu soup is just one of the best in the country, I think. I haven’t been able to find anyone else that makes the similar soup. The thick, rich soup just pairs perfectly with the thin menn. Looking forward to being back soon!

Yakiniku restaurant
Barbecue restaurant
Sutaminaen is a renowned yakiniku restaurant in Tokyo that has attracted attention from locals and even the prime minister. The restaurant offers a variety of specialty dishes, including "nikomi (stew)," "skirt steak," "upper tongue," and "mixed horumon (offal)." It is known for its blade & rib steak cooked on tabletop grills with sides like kimchi.
We wait for 2 hours to get in. Highly recommended to come before the store open so you can get all the menuu. We didn’t get the 上タン as it’s sold out… You can only order tongue, harami and ロスト once. The tongue is beyond this world, highly recommended to order two portion of ロスト and tongue 😝 When I wait, I thought i will only come to this store once. But once eating the food, I know I will come again later. The food is too good, no wonder they said it’s the best yakiniku in Tokyo. A must try!! Staffs are all friendlyy 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

This old restaurant is one of most famous Yakiniku place in Japan. The location is so inconvenient and they don’t take a reservation meaning I didn’t have a chance to visit until yesterday. We set meeting at nearest station then took a taxi for 20 mins THEN 1 hour waiting outside of restaurant under this intense heat... Crazy... However I admit it’s worth waiting. Each dish is carefully prepared and tasty. Even the desert!

According to my nephew who s studying in waseda here, this is his best yakiniku in town, normally need to wait long but we are lucky to come on this rainy day so no wait. This 10000 per head set is not cheap but value for money considering the gigantic quality meat. The lady owner is especially very nice giving more meat than we should have had, definitely come again!
Tui D — Google review
Very high quality food, also one of the very few quality place that allow single person BBQ. Staff is very friendly, manage to custom made a selection for me to try bit of everything. The final bill is relatively cheap, less than half compare to those with same quality food in Ginza. Challenge is you need to queue, no reservation accepted, and you may need to bend your knee for hours in traditional Japanese seatings.
Frankie L — Google review
Amazingly delicious Yakiniku with friendly service staff despite our language barrier. The meats were amazing and we are definitely looking forward to going back again! 上ロース (loin), 上タン (tongue), harami, karubi, 生野菜 (vegetables) were great! Space can get a bit cramped if sitting on the tatami and also can get smoky when the cooking starts but there is decent ventilation - just be mentally prepared.
Teck S — Google review
Stamina En is always my BEST yakiniku restaurant. It never disappoints me. Might get quite some line if you go before 7 pm but you risk have specials being sold out if you go too late. The transportation might be the only issue as you need to hop on a bus or cab after you got off the train. They can help hail a cab after the meal if you need. What impressed me the most is when I went the first time after I got off the train, I gave the cab driver the address and he just took off without looking it up in the navigation - Basically every driver knows that place. Cash only.

With a diverse selection of sushi available for 100 yen each, it's a great place to enjoy a budget-friendly meal with friends.
Great and fast delicious food.

Good value for what you get. Sushi starts at 125 yen and that includes salmon, scallops, iberico pork, etc. To spruce things up, every 5 plate you feed into the plate disposal slot, a game plays on the screen where you stand a chance to win a gashapon that contain a small badge. I had an issue where 2 of the plates I fed into the slot didn't count and I told the worker there about it. When I checked out and paid bill, she was kind enough to give a free gashapon for the accounting error. Small gesture but it made me smile as I left.

Really good place with many kind of sushi for 100yen. Good location (next to Kohoku station) and pretty big. Though be careful, friday night and saturday are REALLY BUSY because of japanese families. Last friday, at 5:30pm we needed to wait around 40 minutes to get a table. Prefer to come the week days or late night the weekend

If you are saving money, but want to eat some sushi then this is the right place to visit with your friends. Available prices, variety of choice, good quality, fresh and tasty fish! Beers (¥500), juice (¥250~) and sweets (¥150~) cost you more then sushi!

Ah .... it was so crowded at dinner time. We had to wait 40 min. Other than that the sushi is fresh and delicious.

Thai restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Kita-Senju, Lai Kanok is a vibrant Thai restaurant that promises an authentic culinary journey. With its cozy ambiance and welcoming staff, this eatery serves up a delightful array of traditional dishes like papaya salad (som tam), stir-fried morning glory, and spicy curries. The use of charming blue-and-white patterned plates enhances the overall experience, making each meal feel special.
Feels authentic to me and the food was really really good, especially the fried fish omg, so good. People working there all speak Thai so even the vibe was authentic. Food could be spicy so be cautious if you don’t like spicy food, but it’s good i’ll definitely come back.

Likes: -location,3-min walk from JR Kita-Senju Stn -reasonable prices, 3 dishes+4 drinks ¥5000+ -good quick service despite all tables filled Dislikes: -not 100% authentic Thai taste, detail info with enclosed photos -dishes a tad sweeter than my preference -no usual Thai condiments on table -small with 10 tables; noise volume of next-table over-the-top loud Tourists really makes any kind of conversation impossible; making it a quickly eat-and-go place -cash only Note: best make reservations

Cash only. We did not have reservations (tried calling three days before but no answer), which I would recommend as they squeezed us in, but the table was a bit uncomfortable for a group of five. Menu is extensive and will take you a while to pick what you want. They have all the expected Thai dishes one would know, but that’s about it. Overall, the food was decent but the service could be better. The bill was ambiguous and did not detail the prices. The taste was great. Recommended if you're looking for Thai food.

This Thai restaurant in Kita-Senju offers a fantastic dining experience with authentic flavors, cozy ambiance, and excellent service. The dishes are well-prepared with bold spices and fresh ingredients, making it a great spot for Thai food lovers. We tried classic Thai dishes such as papaya salad (som tam), stir-fried morning glory, Thai green curry, and a spicy stir-fried crabs dish. The use of traditional blue-and-white patterned plates adds to the authenticity of the experience. The presence of Thai beer and colorful drinks enhances the meal, making it feel even more immersive. The restaurant’s walls display a framed autograph referencing the famous Japanese TV show “孤独のグルメ” (Kodoku no Gourmet), suggesting that it has been featured on the show. This is a strong endorsement, as the show is known for highlighting excellent eateries. Overall, this place stands out as a must-visit for Thai cuisine enthusiasts in Kita-Senju. Whether you’re craving spicy, savory, or refreshing Thai flavors, this spot delivers an enjoyable and satisfying meal. I only wish that the rice and also the dishes could come with a bigger portion.

🫳🫳🫳 Not bad But not amazing Tried: - Morning glory / Kang kong / 空芯菜 - Curry crab - Pad Thai - Chicken rice Morning glory ★★☆☆☆ Texture was good, but lacked garlic and saltiness. Was quite sweet. Nothing like the proper dish in terms of taste. Not recommended unless you like things sweet Curry crab ★★★★☆ The sauce was very tasty, and the crab was great. However, they didn’t break the shell well, nor did they provide tools for opening the shell (all we had were disposable chopsticks). It was quite messy to eat. Be careful if you don’t want to get your hands dirty. Pad Thai ★★★★☆ A tad sweet, but quite tasty. My partner really enjoyed it. Chicken rice ★★★☆☆ Standard dish. Not bad, but nothing particularly special. If you like it, it’s worth ordering it. Service ★★☆☆☆ We were hurried a lot (e.g. to leave the store) plates were sometimes taken when there was still food on the plates. Maybe staff aren’t compensated well enough and just want to leave early. We were forced to pay at the table, but it’s cash only. Seems like they’re trying to be fancy, but they just don’t want to pay credit card fees? Overall: Would go there if there was nothing else better. But personally I prefer a place in Yushima.

This restaurant is the most authentic thai restaurant I’ve ever had in Tokyo by far! I had pad thai and the taste was awesome. I also had vermicelli salad as the appetizer, it was great as well. The athmosphere was also nice, a little bit cramped, but it’s relaxing.
