Zhengzhou

Zhengzhou, a metropolis on the Yellow River, is the capital of east-central China's Henan province. With history dating to Neolithic times, it's notable as the ancient Shang dynasty capital, whose earthen walls still stand in the city center. It's also home to the pyramid-shaped Henan Museum, where cultural exhibits from prehistory and early China include jade and musical instruments.

Henan Museum, situated in Zhengzhou, is a modern history and art museum showcasing ancient Chinese artifacts. It is one of the oldest and largest museums in China, with an impressive collection housed in a grandiose pyramid-shaped building covering 100,000 square meters. The museum features bronze and jade artifacts, pottery, and an exhibition on ancient Chinese astronomy. Its design is inspired by the mysterious Astronomical Observatory.
Absolutely great., and free. 3 floors of exhibitions with artifacts up to 10,KYO. A huge selection of artifacts and exhibits over 3 floors. It will take an afternoon. Easy to access from the metro and a short walk or a “tuk-tuk” from the station.

A place to visit to understand the history of China, mainly art pieces. Encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, and remember to bring ID (for local) and passport (for foreigners). I believe you need whole day to view all art pieces, and we only managed to view the key ones within 2.5 hrs.
Chris — Google review
Excellent museum with loads of artifacts and information on history of Henan which is also very much history of China from its beginning. Information is available also in English. Tickets are free but must be reserved on website. Bring your passport. Reserve several hours for a visit. Definitely worth your time.
Janis C — Google review
This museum focuses on ancient dynasties from the central plain which gives information on early China civilization. Free entrance. Friendly museum staff is there to help for those using passport for registration. Those who likes history will take more than 3 hours.

Epic museum. Reserve a ticket via WeChat (select from 9-12pm or 12-4pm entry time slots; max 8,000 visitors per session). Both english and Chinese audio guides are available for ¥30 but are operated by different companies, so be careful which one you purchase. The Chinese guide is quite comprehensive (you can punch in the ###) but the english guide is lame (~40 1-2min explanations that are heavily accented).
Steven X — Google review
Very good museum especially for China history buffs. Entrance is free but advance booking/ reservation is required from their WeChat account.

Amazing museum in Zhengzhou, Henan. There was way more pieces than I imagined there would be, spanning thousands of years across multiple dynastic periods. I highly recommend a visit here if you come to Henan!

The Zhengzhou Yellow River Scenic Spots is a fascinating tourist attraction that offers visitors the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll amidst nature while admiring China's significant river, the Yellow River. The Emperors' mountain, an artificial structure, is also noteworthy and can be accessed via cableway for panoramic views. To reach the island for picturesque shots, tourists can use hovercraft. In addition to this, there is a Red & Yellow emperors sculpture worth seeing at the square.
We came on Monday afternoon, a raining day with very few people around. The ticket for foreigner is RMB48 per person, you can choose to walk around, or pay RMB20 per person (once off) if you wish to ride on Buggy during your entire stay inside. (Recommended) This is a good place for those who wish to know more about China history. Good is you can engage a local tour guide (available at entrance), at about RMB100 per hour. Car cannot enter the premises, and had to park at outside waiting area. You can walk about 5 mins to reach the buggy station. There are few areas to visit, including taking cable car to reach the top for entire view. Overall, recommended.
Chris — Google review
I found it really a wonderful place to take a walk, relax in the middle of the nature while looking at the most important river in China: the Yellow River. The Emperors' mountain, even if it's fake, it's cool. You can also take the cableway to reach the highest point. Worth a visit.

Can spend many hours here if you are interested to visit every stone carving of Chinese famous scholars.

Worth a Travel. Amazing huge park - area with Bonsai Garden up to the hills with the temples and Emperors. You can spend hours there. For 20,- you can use shuttle services across the huge territory.

Beautiful scenic area, with rolling and falling of the river's torrents. Try to take a ride on the fast craft to enjoy the natural beauty of the river banks.

City God Temple, originally built in the Ming Dynasty around 1368, has survived natural disasters and human interference. The Happy Building within the temple stands at about 15 meters high and showcases remarkable artwork. Visitors flock to admire its beauty and partake in the folk art and craft fairs held on its grounds. Initially constructed to house a Daoist god, this ancient site offers a glimpse into history and tradition.

Airport
Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, located 37 kilometers from the city, offers shuttle bus connections to Zhengzhou and nearby cities. The airport features a business center and a variety of dining options, including a Starbucks on the fourth floor. It is well-organized and clean, with convenient access to public transportation from the transportation center across the bridge. Visitors can explore the Henan Provincial Museum to learn about ancient civilizations in the area.
It's an enormous airport that is not really busy. International departures are almost like an oasis, as can be seen in the pictures I took. It’s one of the few airports in the world that is relaxing and calm.

Big and good airport but a bit old and not very developed compared to other Chinese airports, But it is gate for Henan province, which is consider one of most tourist and famous landmarks in china.

Here to take the connecting flight from Urumqi back to KLIA. Nice airport with good selection of food and drinks available. Can do some simple shopping too.

Nice and spacious airport. They have special lane business class. Business class lounge is also fairly well decorated, only drawback food is very limited. Service is top class.
Sakura G — Google review
A medium-sized international airport, clean and comfortable; A large number of shops and restaurants offering a wide variety of meal options; I especially recommend a store I have visited: National Geographic brand store, which has a large number of children's educational and soft toy products, the staff who helped me is professional and has rich knowledge, and the service was very friendly.
UK F — Google review
For such a big airport it feels regional. The international side has two lounges, closest to whatever gate you are departing from. Very small and intimate. It's a priority pass lounge. Once you get past security there are a few coffee shops.
Mick C — Google review
It's a huge airport. I was there quite early in the morning after a domestic flight. The airport was clean and bright.
Giang L — Google review
It is a small size airport but there is Starbucks on 4th floor. (So.. 4 stars if not 3 stars haha) There are many tables with nice music inside .. behind the Starbucks. 👍🏼 Transportation center across the bridge from the airport is convenient to use public transportation and there is E-hailing pick-up for Didi meeting spot. A Clean and well-arranged airport and it takes 20-30 min. to get to the main spots of the city.

Chinese restaurant
ZAX BBQ in Zhengzhou stands out as the only truly genuine American eatery in the city. With a focus on authenticity and quality, everything is meticulously handcrafted on-site. The food is simply exceptional, not just by Chinese standards but across the board. If you're yearning for something familiar, ZAX BBQ is your go-to destination.
One of THE best BBQ I've ever had! And not just best ever in Zhengzhou or China but everywhere I've lived! FYI I've lived in Memphis for 2 years and the BBQ there doesn't compare to Zax. Tender, slide-off-the-bone, just the right amount of fat, and delicious sauce always brings me back to Zax. Their sweet potato fries are great as well. Give it a try!
Fon K — Google review
The owner was helpful with translation. The menu was able to be translated using phone. The service was fast.
Lynd — Google review
jeez, idk if all these people going on about this place have ever been to a BBQ joint in the U.S. Drinks are tiny, a Negroni is like 1/3 the size it would be in the states. Bacon cheeseburger was just okay. Service is meh. I would rather eat cheap noodles next time I come to Henan
Bob U — Google review
For me, ZAX is a destination. Best American BBQ in China, with others not even in the conversation. The owner and his family are stalwart citizens of Zhengzhou, holding it down on a level not even seen in Tha 'Jing. Real Recognize Real, and ZAX is as real as it gets!
Matthew J — Google review
Very nice BBQ place with nice atmosphere given by the owner and his friendly personnel. Ribs are so good but have to ordered one day in advance. It’s worth it!
Simon H — Google review
As an American coming here for familiar comfort food and taste, this place is amazing…. If this place was in Texas it would be a 10/10. Amazing food, amazing vibes. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Russ — Google review
I'm a native Texan and I KNOW BARBECUE. Zaxx is not only the best in China, but, frankly, I've never had barbecue any better out of 35 countries I've visited and having eaten barbecue in Texas all of my life. Zach and Teresa are also the best people that you'll ever meet. They take their business and customers seriously. Other foreigners have tried to open restaurants here and all of them have failed within a year or two at the most. Zach was born to do this business and he is the best.
Michael M — Google review
The ONLY truly authentic American restaurant you'll find in Zhengzhou. Awesome food and nearly everything is handmade fresh in the restaurant. Authenticity and quality are the top priorities of the American owners. This place is seriously good. Not "good for China". Just plain good. If you're craving something familiar, this is the place to get it. P.S. Other perks: 1) almost always English speakers there to chat with. 2) decent beer selection and tasty cocktails. 3) patio with outdoor seating. 4) western toilet.

Hot pot restaurant
Haidilao Hot Pot is renowned for its exceptional service, which has consistently been its standout quality. The establishment offers a range of inventive and delectable dishes that are highly impressive. Although the food is delightful and hygienic, it lacks English translations or visual aids to assist non-Chinese speakers in making their selections. Nonetheless, efforts are being made to address this shortcoming. Haidilao Hot Pot receives high praise overall and is undoubtedly an amazing Chinese restaurant worth experiencing.
We didn’t know where to go and read this was tourist friendly, etc. The experience was amazing, they didn’t speak English but they were soooooo helpful and nice with us. Food was cheap and tasty too! They even gave us some presents to take home. 100% recommended
