Lawang sewu just like before i visited. Great colonial building and history to tell. But unfortunetly, this time, when i go to the dungeon, the guide didn't not tell us about the history. More like to tell us about the structure of the building and more. And just to add some advice, if visitor buy the advance ticket like me, please provide the personal tour guide immediately, so we do have to look for the tour guide place on our own

This place is majestic. When visiting this place I would strongly suggest you to use a guide provided there, it’s not free service (for a family of four you will have to pay at least IDR100,000) but it’s really worth it. The guide will not only tell you the history about this place but they are good photographer as well, they will tell you the best location to take picture and will take a nice picture for you.

Really place to learn some of local history. The flow of the museum needs to be better sih. So people like me, when decided to go there without any guide still can do a proper tour. Maybe a guide letter / sign can help. Sssstt they got a hidden basement tour (some said it haunted!)

When learning about the Old Semarang, Lawang Sewu is one of the historical place to understand the history of how the Indonesian Train company was initially founded. From getting off the train at Stasiun Semarang Tawan, visiting the Old Town, then learning about the architecture of the initial Train Company HQ at Lawang Sewu and then closing it with the old St. Ambarawa Museum is a must.

A great place to know a little bit more about the Indonesian history with the Dutch. I love that there's something for everyone: adults, small children and older people. I got to do the immersive one - price a tad more expensive than the other entrance fee but worth it to have someone talk to you about the history behind Lawang Sewu. Prices probably will change so I'd refer you to their website. The immersive experience in Building B has AC so a good break from the heat and humidity. There are souvenir shops, photo booths, caricature making if you want the traditional route of having your photo taken, owls that perform tricks, of course eateries and lots of museum like information inside the buildings. Depending on what type of tourist you are - there's something for everyone. Just a little warning, they won't let you bring drinks inside so better to put them inside your bag and drink it after going in or buy from the vendors inside. For the elderly, they also have wheelchairs. Just leave your ID when borrowing one. Outside the gates, local vendors sell toys and other souvenirs too

It is more attractive now with the immersive experience so its not that boring as it used to. When visit Semarang make sure u try to come at least once

It is a great place to stay, think, and view cultural heritage of multicultural Semarang. The temple is truly huge, the smell of scent present everywhere, and as for Indonesia this place is clean and pleasant. I wish I had more time to sit down and clean my thoughts or even meditate but I only had two hours free during my business trip. Enjoyable and wonderful place.

Made a quick stop here just to seeing sight and take some pictures. Such a beautiful place with a very serene vibe. There is also a praying room for Muslim tourist here and there are many food stalls in case you feel like eating something after your visit. Lovely!

Historically interesting, especially the story behind it. But needs a heap of TLC because it's generally in poor condition and lots of rubbish lying around 😔 A good luck of painting to bring back the vibrancy of the statues and front building would go a long way to improving its presence 👌

They have different types of tickets, the more expensive ones as they said, could visit all the places. However, you are still prohibited to enter their “holy” rooms because they don’t categorize you as “PRAYERS”, meaning if you don’t pay extra for offering incense. So hilarious, because they actually have no idea whom they are praying and why they are praying for him. 你们知道郑和真的是谁吗？? 无知的可笑。

Food looked great when on bbq. Paid for big squid , got 1 squid skewer with 4 squid rings on it. Completely killed with sauce, rubbery , tasteless. Tako yaki were undercooked. Had to throw everything away.

It lost its glory days, the old times semawis is much better than the current semawis. The foods are becoming so mediocore and have less variations compared with recent bazaar and food stall, and it's not as festive unless it's near Chinese new year date. It does not feel special for locals , and for people from other town. The iconic food mostly gone , only modern foods. The seating is gettig very few. Place is still clean , even cleaner from the old times semawis.

I went there on saturday night, around 9pm, and the place was so crowded! There are lots of food stalls, some selling korean food. Only few stalls provide tables. Visitors are varied starting from teenagers to adults. The space is narrow and the place isnt clean because many buyers throw rubbish on the road. The food price is a bit high. For me, its not a kid friendly place. But if you love to taste kinds of food while walking and do not mind to queue, its a perfect place.

When i go here last time, it supose to open at 9. But after 9a.m the gate still bot open yet. Until 9.30. So i decide i will bot go inside . But afterall, the building itself, have a characteristic to look up

This is my first time in Old Town of Semarang. The church is just under restoration. Very good places to visit. Worth it.

Gereja Blenduk is considered to be a landmark in Semarang. Old yet iconic and historical. It used to be a Dutch church and up until now it is still operating. Open for public to visit but also open for Sunday Mass. Located at the heart of Semarang Old Town. The building is still properly maintained. The style is very 'Dutch'. Come in the morning for a great view and less crowded for photo session.

The church stands majestically under the sun... you can't miss it. Make sure you get an Instagrammable worthy shot in front of the church. After that, be sure to take a stroll across the streets admiring the ancient city. The roads, lamps, buildings - are colonial Dutch era that makes you think you are in an European town!

I recently visited Koenokoeni Restaurant in Semarang. The place has a very nice ambiance with vintage Javanese decor and beautiful city views, especially at night. It feels cozy and artistic a great spot to relax or dine with family and friends. The food was okay overall — nothing outstanding, but still enjoyable. The nasi goreng pete was very good and definitely the highlight of our meal. The rest of the dishes were fine too. Service was friendly.

Really like the taste of the food and tolak angin gelato 🥰. it's also authentic of the real semarang's food 😍. The atmosfer also back to 'tempo doeloe' and the owner also very humble and friendly ❤️❤️. Will be back for sure 😊😊

Really impressed by ambience of this place. There are a lot of oldies props/ decorations such as pottery, radio, to motorcycle! At the backside, there is big pendopo facing to a valley, offering city lights view at night. Food is also great. I almost have no complain on it, except that I think they can put more portion of protein or veggies (looking at the price). Staff is also friendly and serving time is considerably fast.

Wow such a spacious place. People prefer their outdoor seating as opposed to indoor, as they provide live music and the atmosphere is quite chilly and not as hot. We ordered their nasi kecombrang, nasi goreng kecombrang petai and nasi goreng ruwet. Everything tasted superb! Indeed they are on the pricier side, just like in Jakarta, but definitely worth it. They also provide a welcome drink of kunyit asam and a snack of cassava chips. Lovely singer as the live music performer. They serve everything quite fast.

Located in a valley of Semarang, fresh weather up here, unlike the city center with Javanese ambience surely. Quite good food and affordable, quite friendly waitress but "jutek" cashier. I wonder many people came here for a meetings or having lunch/dinner, but the services was so so.

Oldies but goodies Been my xx visits, bcos one of my must visit when i got to Semarang city. But only review this visit (first time after Pandemic) when i heard the place is on sale. I think the recent operator is not from the main family anymore. Something is different. The gelato was not smooth as before But rum raisin still a fave here. "Oen" Shop Semarang 1936. Saying our name will bring a smile to your face, too. Where does that strange name "OEN" come from, and why is a restaurant called "TOKO"? To explain, we need to delve into the history of TOKO "OEN." TOKO "OEN" was founded in 1912 by Mr. and Mrs. Oen Tjoen Hok in Yogyakarta. It was originally a small cookie shop: "Mrs. Oen's TOKO." The small shop, which sold exclusively Dutch cookies and pastries, was very popular with the Dutch and Indonesian communities. Later, it expanded to include a restaurant and ice cream parlor. The restaurant became very well-known because, in addition to the usual local dishes, it also offered a Western menu and authentic Italian ice cream. Around the 1930s, other branches opened, first in Jakarta, then in Malang, and in 1936, in Semarang. TOKO "OEN" became a household name, the name TOKO "OEN" was patented in 1936 by grandpa Oen, hence our strange but unforgettable name TOKO "OEN" here in the Netherlands.

Just have been here for a dinner. As being a Dutch national I couldn’t resist trying the ‘Kroket Toko Oen’! I must admit that it tasted fantastic! The ragout inside was fully loaded with beef, very tasteful. Next to that I ordered ‘Lunpia Tojo Oen’ & Satay Ayam. I finalized my dinner with the Rhum Raisin ice-cream. All tasted very nice and I would definitely come here again!

I always return to this place whenever I am back to Semarang. It is kept in its original style , food and service , reminding the old days . That is the place to cheer before it is gone . Highly recommended Risole & local coffee “kopi Tubruk”. Also I did try out a slide of ice cream. A taste similar to 40 years ago

This legendary restaurant has been around in Semarang since 1935. This place offers a wide range of Eurasian cuisine that brings back a lot of memories through our eyes and palates. It offers the opportunity for guest to feel the vibe of upper class society in the city during the Dutch colonial era. We ordered several dishes for lunch: Bestik Sapi (beef steak), Bestik Ayam (chicken steak) and Resoles (a derivation from French rissoles and influenced by Dutch cuisine). The steaks were prepared old Dutch style, drenched in thick savory steak sauce. The resoles were filled with ragout fillings and served with yellow lemony sauce and chili. Unfortunately this time we didn't have spare space in our stomach to enjoy its ice cream and cold drinks that should be refreshing in hot Semarang day. Recommended to visit and enjoy the food if you are in Semarang!

A very nice hillside restaurant. I visited at night with clear sky and clear view of the city below the restaurant. Tried both Indonesian (tahu telor and nasi goreng babat) and Western menu (tenderloin steak and salmon). Price is quite affordable for everything ordered.

The location is quite hidden, it's located in elite housing complex. Road to the restaurant is quiet in the night, low road lightning but it's safe. The food was great, nice taste for the price, personally the price was acceptable for the grill menu. The view was good, especially at night, you can see Semarang city lights from your seat (it's recommended to choose outside seating). Staffs was great fast and accurate. Overall great experience, will visit again for third times next year's eid al fitr. just missed the grilled baby potato this year, I hope the restaurant bring back this menu.

Beautiful dining place on top of Semarang city, nice view of semarang. outdoor n indoor seating available. menu selections are also very nice, both western or indonesian cuisine. Price is also worth the menu. service were prompt and friendly. the only small glitch was that the washing hands facility at the entrance was broke for few days ( new normal SOP), hope they fix it immediately, or at least they can prepare something for substitute while waiting for the permanent fixing. In general, everything was good.

A restaurant located in a beautiful building from bygone times. The interior does not completely match the colonial period, but has enough tempo doeloe appearance. The menu limps on different thoughts, but offers something for everyone. The friendly staff is huddled together, but is not very focused on the customer in my experience. This restaurant is less cozy for solo travelers. But I certainly will come back again with company.

A charming resto occupying a big old house in Semarang. Decoration is very chick with hint of Dutch colonial age furniture everywhere. I love the old style floor, it's very hard to find it anywhere. A vintage concept restaurant, with speciality in indonesian traditional cuisine. The place itself is very beauty, clean, and neat. Plenty of instagrammable spot available here. The special menu here is the Smoked Chicken, on which a must try. Also available package menus for up to 4 people. Though it's quite expensive, even for Semarang, but yeah... it's kinda worth it.

This place is huge. Lots of tables, vast parking lot. The menu is very diverse. We came with a group of students each ordering different dishes and none was turned down as "sold out", we all got what we ordered. I had rawon and it was nice, however, I've eaten better rawon. The view here is adorable. One can go fishing here if they want.

During Eid it is very crowded so you have to wait for a list, so it is best to schedule a time so you can enjoy it very well.

Nice resto to enjoy seafoods. The location is bit far from the city center, but near to several tourist places. They serve almost all the seafood menus with a quite mid-range price. You can pay with QRIS. They also have a good scenery of fish pond and imitation of sea. They also have proper and spacious Musholla and Toilet.

Well, I have been visiting the place several times and only today I share my experience. The food was great, tasty as usual, the service was somewhat needed to be improved. Atmosphere wise, nice. Open air seating, breezy and spacious. Anyone visiting Semarang should at least try the food once.

The restaurant is suitable for large office or family gathering, the place itself was really huge, looked like it was built above the lake. Food was delicious but a bit dry for the tofu and calamary fritters. Nonetheless it was a great experience, especially if its your first time going to Semarang, i think this place should be on the go-to list.

Love the food, love the place, love the vibe, and love the service. The place is very spacious, the atmosphere and the concept are very nature esque, yet still very clean. Suitable for family, friend, or office gathering. And the food has a lot of variety, mainly seafood, but still there is meat or chicken selection. The food is very well executed, delicious, and worth the price! A must go to place in Semarang.
