Nestled in the heart of Taiwan, Changhua Confucius Temple is an 18th-century gem that seamlessly blends traditional Taiwanese culture with natural beauty and historical whispers. The temple features nine historic stone monuments and offers a tranquil atmosphere, making it a rare find for international visitors. The architecture reflects Zhangzhou style and differs slightly from Tainan Confucian Temple. Despite being almost demolished in the past, this place offers a spectacular view of the low-lying areas of Changhua city.

A quiet spot even in the bustling area of Changhua city. Peaceful and solemn. Loved the traditional architectures. Glad to know about the specialities and traditional skills of locals. Free entry. Free brochure. Restroom available.

The Confucius Temple in Changhua was almost a national first-class monument that was demolished to cover shopping malls. It was built in 1726, 4 years of the Qing Dynasty Yongzheng. The architecture of Zhangzhou style is slightly different from that of Tainan Confucian Temple. During the Japanese occupation period, it was the seat of the Changhua Public School of the "National Language Center". In 1906, part of the wall door was demolished in the "urban correction plan". In 1971, the Taiwan Provincial Government and Changhua County Government once planned to demolish the Confucian Temple and sell land to cover shopping malls. Later it was demolished for renovation due to local opposition. In 1983, it was designated as a national monument.

Nanyao Temple, situated 2km south of Changhua train station, is a significant stop on the Matsu Pilgrimage. The temple's unique character is evident in its central hall, adorned with Doric columns, baroque-style decor, and Japanese shrines. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty period, this historic site showcases a fusion of Fujianese, Western, and Japanese architectural styles.
Great local temple. Built in 1738, it's nearly 300 years old. Awesome local culture and photo opportunities.

Closed for renovations for the last two years. According to locals, the temple won't reopen until the end of 2025 at the earliest.

Nanyao Temple is a Mazu temple in Changhua city. It was built in the 18th century during the Qing Dynasty and it's a place where generations of locals have come to seek good fortune and receive the blessings of Mazu. It is one of the temples where the Dajia Mazu make the annual pilgrimage during March of the lunar calendar.

Nanyao Palace is a historic site in Changhua County, dating back to 1738 at the earliest. In terms of architecture, it can be said to be one of the most solemn and gorgeous temples in Changhua City. The architectural pattern is four towers and four halls, using three architectural styles. The Sanchuan Hall and the Main Hall at the front are traditional Chinese-style buildings. The Bagua algae well on the ceiling of the Sanchuan Hall at the main entrance is very stylish. It is stacked up by a bucket arch without using any nails. Dragon. The Guanyin Hall behind the main hall is one of the most distinctive temples in Taiwan. It is also the oldest building in Nanyao Palace, which combines the styles of Fujian, Western and Japanese. The last apse is a three-story building, made of concrete. It was completed in 1973 in a modern antique style. You can go to the third floor of the apse to enjoy the beauty of the entire temple. The height of the four halls has gradually increased from the beginning to the end, and the pattern is rigorous and beautiful. The whole can be said to be Taiwan's architectural gem.

Bagua Mountain Skywalk is a 1,004-meter-long elevated walking path that winds through the treetops, offering scenic views of Changhua and the surrounding nature. It connects the main site of the Great Buddha of Baguashan to nearby attractions and is part of the popular Baguashan Scenic Area. Visitors can drive up to the mountain top or take a beautiful trail leading up to it.
Absolutely amazing place. A great look out of Changhua city, no matter it's day view or night view. Worth a visit when you in Changhua.
Gastronomicrice — Google review
A super scenic stroll from the Cultural & creative park + Changhua Arts Center to Baguashan, there are many plants 🌱 critters and viewing spots you can find along the way. The route also cuts through the baseball ⚾️ field where you can observe others practicing. A great breather and fresh air away from the town hustle.
Amos S — Google review
Nice pleasant walk beside trees, away from traffic. Though, must be a bit too hot during summer.
Ryuhei H — Google review
It's an elevated walkway that links various of Bagua Mountain. It is a novel idea that helps reduce congestion on existing roads and pathways, but I do not recommend it. There is no shelter and the flooring is slippery. Not suitable for young children on prams or the elderly.

The so-called "Sky path" is a long extended passage around the hills. It gives a nice view of Changhua city on the way.

Pretty good view of the ChangHwa city. It's free too. Went during Dec so wasn't too hot or too cold. Plenty of places to walk and look at things for free. Simply experience the temple culture of Taiwan. The toilet are those temporary ones. Brig your own tissues. Otherwise, you can buy some packets for cheap. Got 2 for $10 NTD. But can't guarantee that's always there.
Genevieve E — Google review
The skypath is 1KM long and is the longest in Taiwan. However you could not see much scenery from the skypath, mostly trees and plants as it was not that high.

The National Changhua Life Arts Center is a modern structure that houses a variety of rotating exhibits and workshops, all set against the backdrop of an adjacent park. Situated at one end of the Skywalk on Mt. Baghua, it showcases the work of two local artists in an impressive exhibition. For those exploring lesser known tourist spots, this cultural heritage center offers a glimpse into the island's rich diversity. At night, visitors can enjoy the beautiful lighting that illuminates this unique art museum.
Worth the hike! The view is amazing, it was just around the city proper but it looks so majestic. Some should visit at night too the view gives a different vibe. 👍

Scenic spot
Baguashan is a picturesque hill known for its iconic 24-meter Buddha statue and a charming pedestrian skybridge nestled amidst the lush trees. The Baguashan Skywalk offers stunning views of the verdant canopy, while the literature trail beckons visitors to explore the ecological beauty. Additionally, travelers can immerse themselves in culture at the Changhua Arts Museum or rejuvenate at the Spring of Youth.
Every visit to the Buddha statues brings in inner peace. And when it is a huge statue with hardly any crowd, you tend to be dwarfed. But the visit was wonderful. Impressive statue with great photo opportunities. Easy parking and plenty to look at. The statue itself was amazing but loads of other items around as well. Some super views over the city. It was one of scenic spots in Changhua for visitors. The attraction was giant Buddha statue on top of the mountain. Clean place and comfortable environment. We took a taxi from Changhua Station to come there due to little bit inconvenient location.

The tourist town of Mount Baqua has changed a lot, there are lots of people selling around the area, paid parking is also available, toilets are also available but they are a bit dirty (sorry), near Mount Baqua there are also attractions such as watching hellish torture in the monastery which is quite exciting, the road to the monastery is steep and lots of stairs...😅, but when you get to the 3rd floor inside the monastery it is very dark... if I may suggest, on the footpath in the attraction, give directions or a small footpath light because suddenly it goes straight there is a wooden ladder and I almost fell between the boundary of the ladder and the footpath.. there was also a bucket beside it (which I think might be for collecting raindrops that seep in) which should be removed if it is no longer used.. but I understand because the ticket keeper is also an elderly person.. the ticket price is still affordable..🙏🏻

Public place where you can visit and be with nature. Can see one of the biggest Buddha in Taiwan and located in Changhua, Taiwan. Parking lots available and vendors of food are there. Favor in a road and great view around Changhua when your upthere.

This place is quite breathtaking and offers a panoramic view of the city. It has a big statue of buddha, several canopies around the area. Near the canopy walk, there's a massage lady who offers great massage.

I've been here so many times whenever I want to jog together with my besties. The scenery will really amazed anyone who comes here and there are lots of senior citizens who also come to this place to do some physical exercise.
Leonor E — Google review
Really nice place to visit. We stop by on our way from Taipei to Alishan. Navigated by Google Maps. There are few things to see here and not just the Buddha statue. We explore the place more than an hour. You can find some restaurants in 10 minutes driving or even less than that. Take into consideration that you need to pay for the parking. However, it was very cheap. Enjoy your time!
Hezi B — Google review
Can see the beautiful city of Changhua from this place. You need to wear a long sleeves or trousers so that it could protect from being bitten by the mosquito or other small insect.. This is not that much relaxing place 😕.
Ombahadur T — Google review
Beautiful spot. Any trip to Changhua needs a visit to Baguashan. You can wander around the Buddah and surrounding temple buildings as well as the gardens and wider area. Great gift shop on the ground floor to the right of the Buddah. Several stalls selling street food such as dried squid, tea eggs etc. There's a great view over Changhua from the main lookout - you can see as far as Lugang and the coast on a clear day. Further back there is a fish pond and if you keep exploring you'll find the aeroplanes, steps down the waterfall and the sports centre. There are clean toilet facilities, a visitor centre by the main arch and plenty of spots to park your scooter. I'd recommend walking up the back steps from near the university. Can get busy, but not overly so, just people taking photos. A great place to come watch fireworks on New Years Eve. 5 stars, though my only warning is that at night, there are stray dogs lurking in the crevices ;)

When in Changhua, make sure to visit 彰化阿璋肉圓 for a taste of their famous meatball. Unlike the typical meatballs found abroad, this one features a chewy glutinous skin enveloping the flavorful meat, served with a generous amount of gravy. The addition of bamboo shoots and small mushrooms provides a delightful crunch without being too oily. This local favorite has even been featured in movies and is known for its budget-friendly prices.
If you are in Changhwa to try the local fare, you really got to stop by this shop to try the famous meatball. It’s a different type from what’s usually seen abroad, cos the meat is enveloped in a glutinous type of skin that’s very chewy. With a generous serving of gravy, the meatball can be very filling. There’s also some bamboo shoots and a small mushroom in the meatball, making it crunchy and not too oily. The shop was featured in a popular TW film in 2013, and the President was at the shop to try before. So it’s perpetually full of customers popping for a snack. You should order a soup to go along with the meatball. I ordered a gongwan (small meatball) soup that’s cheap and delicious!
Leon T — Google review
Popular Ba Wan Taiwanese meatball store in Changhua. Must try traditional dish when visiting Changhua. Flavourful but the meatball I got wasn't cooked through and was too chewy. Plenty more seats with aircon across the street. More comfortable. Clean toilet. Free soup provided to customers.
Kai ( — Google review
This dish is entirely new to me. I was told it's meatball and I was expecting round meatballs, but it was completely different. A bit starchy but the gravy was nicely flavoured with tender meat, and patronised by someone famous.

The traditional Taiwanese meatballs are quite excellent and should visit when you arrive Changhua City.

Very good texture at this famous taiwanese meatball spot near the changhua train station. Despite being quite full, i still thoroughly enjoyed their take on this taiwanese staple. The meat filling was perfectly textured as well! Highly recommended!

One of the better meat ball we had. Texture was smooth and the meat was delicious. It’s a little too salty for me though. Still recommended

Tried the same order that dried mushroom pork with chewy skin to compare the one across the street. The skin was more chewy and pork inside taste lighter with strong sauce.

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, look no further than 陶板屋 彰化東民店. This charming restaurant has been on my radar for quite some time, and I was thrilled to finally visit it thanks to a friend's invitation. It turned out to be the perfect occasion as we celebrated a birthday, complete with complimentary cake and memorable photos printed for us. Having not visited in several years, I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of food and service remained exceptional.
Excellent service, tasty food, and pleasant environment. Complimentary cake and photo for birthday guest. We ordered the garlic steak, duck, and salmon. All of them are very good. Especially the duck is so well cooked. The steamed egg custard are so soft and full of flavors!

It was my pleasure to be invited to this restaurant by a good friend. In fact, this has been a restaurant saved in my Google Maps for quite some time. I've been looking forward to eating at this restaurant for a while. As it turns out, this was my birthday month, and I was able to get a free piece of cake as well as a picture taken of the occasion. They printed four copies, one for each of us. I thought this was a very nice touch, in addition to the discount that was applied to my meal Food: the selection is really great, and there is a diversity of different types of food available. I was very happy with what I ordered, and everything was very fresh and tasty. The people I ate with ordered other dishes and they were equally satisfied with what they had ordered. The only one who played I had was that the soldier I ordered was extremely sour. Embarrassingly, I had to spit it up on the table as it really was too much to handle. The server told me that I should have probably started more, but I still think it was a bit too sour to begin with. However, I was very happy that the server was able to substitute the drink for me and provide me with a latte instead. As mentioned, I received a free birthday cake. The amount of food was also quite impressive. There were a couple of dishes that I had to give to one of my friends, and one that I had to take away since I could not finish. I was definitely completely full after having one of the sad meals. And it should be noted that I do have a big appetite! Service: the service was quite good. They were very attentive and took care of our plates as soon as we finish each course. The servers were fairly young, and they may have banged the dishes together a few times, but they were most certainly doing their best! I also was able to have a picture taken to celebrate the birthday. In fact, the server responsible for taking the photograph was also able to send it to my friend via iPhone connection, so we are both the digital version of the physical version. I did not expect this, and I found this to be a really wonderful way to celebrate a special meal among four friends Atmosphere: this is an elegant establishment, and the seating is very comfortable and aesthetics are very lovely. It is certainly most comfortable and relaxing place. We never felt rushed at any point, and we took our time to chat and enjoy our meals together. Other: there's not much parking directly close to the restaurant, but around the corner, there is an underground parking lot that is only about 5 to 10 minute walk away. I consider this to be quite convenient, given the congestion and traffic situation in this neighborhood. Overall, I would suggest going here with friends. Originally, I had saved this place in my Google Maps as a place I wanted to visit alone or as a takeaway restaurant. However, after visiting, I would say that it would be better to go with friends and to enjoy and relish the experience! I will keep the photograph from that meal as a precious memento, as one of my dear friends will be away for a little while. Thanks to all the staff for their attentive service. Since my friend treated us to the meal, I cannot come in as the prices. However, I my meal was discounted as July is my birth month. Definitely a place that I can recommend, and make sure to have a reservation in advance.

If you're in Changhua, Taiwan, make sure to visit 北門口肉圓(民生店) for a taste of authentic local cuisine. This spot is known for its deep-fried Bahwan, a Taiwanese meatball that's a must-try. You can opt for a small portion at NTD 50 or go big with the one that includes scallops for NTD 100.

If you're on the hunt for a unique culinary experience, look no further than Cat-Rat Noodle in Changhwa City. ordinary noodles, not even average; but the soup tastes good, not savory, not oily. meatball is chewy and filled with few (tiny) pieces of mushroom, guess it’s the highlight of this cuisine. by the way, it is very considerate of the owner to separate the soup and noodles for take-away ;) overall, the food is overpriced and not as good as expectation. maybe that’s the traditional memory of the locals, worth a try anyway!

If you're on the hunt for a delightful pizza experience in Taiwan, look no further than Pizza Rock Changhua. This charming eatery is renowned for its thin crust Italian-style pizzas that are both delicious and satisfying without leaving you feeling overly stuffed. Each pizza is crafted with care and baked in specialized ovens, ensuring an even cook that results in perfectly crispy edges and a hot, flavorful center.
I was about to order pizza hut until my partner suggested this place, and I’m so glad that he did. I’m from Europe and we’re pretty proud when it comes to pizza, but wow, Pizza Rock gets everything right. The staff were all polite and friendly, and we were lucky enough to visit while the owners were there themselves, who were also very nice. The service was everything you could hope for and the dining area is cosy and inviting. The food itself is impressive and I know I’m going to be thinking about that buffalo dipping sauce for a few days to come! The thickness of the pizza crust was great and cooked to perfection. You absolutely have to try their buffalo wings too! I will definitely be visiting the Taipei branch after the holidays. Pizza Rocks actually rocks!
Natasha — Google review
Great service, great food, my go-to place for pizza in Taiwan. Hate the feeling of bloatedness after eating pizza? Pizza Rock offers thin crust Italian style pizza, with reasonable pricing, you can choose medium or large size pizzas. The pizzas are made fresh, baked in their specialized ovens that cook evenly - you won’t find unnecessarily burnt bits, but hot and crispy edged pizzas cooked to perfection, satisfying every bite making you crave for more! There are multiple chains across Taiwan, and they all have standardized quality. Today the crust was just a bit too thin, but it was still delicious. Don’t hesitate to order a portion of their buffalo wings - I don’t know what they put in it, but it’s the best I’ve ever had, and I always order them!

So-so. When I first started coming here 2 1/2 years ago, the flavor of the cheese, tomato sauce, and crust was authentic. It was pretty close to tasting like a New York City pizza. (I'm from NYC.) In the past year, the crust has gotten flatter, dryer, and has lost some of it's taste. It also weighs heavier in your stomach. The tomato sauce and cheese are also not as flavorful, as though they've switched their formula. In the dining area, they always play classic rock 'n roll music, which adds to the experience of being in a traditional American pizza restaurant. On my last visit, they were playing a very bad pop song on repeat the entire time. This is unacceptable. At least play other songs! I think this will be my last visit to Pizza Rock. The taste and quality of the pizza do not justify its price.

The best Pizza ever😋 Love the other dishes also.😍 The staff is very accommodating and good in English.😉
Maricris D — Google review
Often understocked so closes early, even when they have enough ingredients they close hours before other pizza restaurants in Changhua. Go to Pizza Hut or Dominoes instead. Edit: in reply to the owners comment, you fail to prepare the right amount of ingredients on a regular basis. You also close two hours earlier than Pizza Hut (who are currently doing a two for one offer).
Heggy C — Google review
Pizza Rock is by far the best pizza I have come across in Taiwan. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and there is a nice variety of pizza, paninis, salads, and calzones. I appreciate that they carry Dr. Pepper, root beer and ginger ale, sodas that are hard to find elsewhere in Taiwan. If you are craving great pizza and a nice restaurant atmosphere, then pizza rock is the best.
