Victoria Row is a charming pedestrian-only street mall nestled in the heart of downtown Charlottetown, where history meets modern vibrancy. This cobblestoned gem, flanked by beautifully preserved buildings from the Victorian era, offers an eclectic mix of boutiques and local artisans showcasing unique handicrafts. As you wander along Victoria Row, you'll discover delightful cafes and restaurants that create a lively atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.
Picturesque fishing village. Souvenir stores, visitor information, everything you need to include photo opportunities!

A charming pedestrian only street full of restaurants and cafes. There's a stage set for live music every night. It's a safe place to walk and explore in the heart of Charlottowne.
John T — Google review
This is overrated in my opinion. There is one interesting street of shops and restaurants (with overpriced food). The walk to and from “Victoria Row” was more interesting.
Juliette B — Google review
This is a great place to take a walk with a few cute shops and restaurants. I wanted to love it more, but it was smaller than expected and a bit lackluster. The Old architecture on the buildings was beautiful.
W M — Google review
Victoria Row was very nice. You have many choices to have something to eat. In the evening there was live music. It a happening place. Lots of friendly people.

It was a beautiful experience walking in the old town of the city

Victoria Row pedestrian street....maybe due to the construction site nearby is a must. (Fall 2025) The few stores are worth visiting. For my taste, the Northern Watters Knitwear and Tartan by itself is worth the stop. We ate at the Irish Pub, one of the many cafes and restaurants, has great food and excellent service....with great smiles...we ate on the terrasse of the pub. All establishment offer inside and a street terrasse.

This was an interesting place. We happen to visit during the moon festival. It was very loud and busy. Not my favorite place on the island. But the shops down by the water were fabulous in Charlotte town.

Beaconsfield Historic House, a refined 1877 Victorian home in Charlottetown, was originally built for James and Edith Peake. The property showcases exquisite craftsmanship and intricate interior design details from the 1800s. It hosts various events such as lectures, concerts, and performances. This stately mansion offers tours of its furnishings and features a gift shop.
A beautiful heritage definitely worth visiting in PEI. The tour guides accommodated effectively in the busy hours, our guide (Hexi) was very clear and helpful about the background and history, really appreciated!
Jinyu Z — Google review
Amazing how a structure such as the Beaconsfield House could be almost the same age of Canada, erected only 10 years after our country's birth, and still maintain its beauty and presence. This is definitely a testimony to the craftsmanship at the time, and that the house was built using the finest materials. Today, it's old, but back in 1877 it was equipped with the latest conveniences of the day, and stood beautifully with its Victorian architecture.
Sam J — Google review
It's nice to go see if you want to see what a Victoria era house was like, the guide gives a nice story about the house overtime and is honest about what they know and don't. $8 per adult ticket Toddler wasn't too excited about this house
Saman A — Google review
A must visit place in PEI. $20 for a family ticket. Got Daniel as our tour guide. Excellent explanation it was. The house built in 1877.
Jibin M — Google review
I did the tour and our guide was knowledgable and kind. I really enjoyed hearing about the history of the house and visiting all the rooms. I would recommend it for anyone interested in history.

Very picturesque. Didn’t go inside (fee required) but grounds are very well maintained and there is seating in the porch. Also, restrooms around back. Worth a visit when you head to park.

A Beautiful landmark in PEI. Even though it’s still being worked on, it’s still a nice place to walk past

Still closed down for repairs, scaffolding and metal fencing everywhere. Not much to see here for tourists except for a few monuments until renovations are done..

Doesn’t work, still under construction 🚧 However, The Province House looks nice outside

We visited while the reconstruction is underway. These repairs have been ongoing since 2015. Hopefully, we can visit this historic Canadian landmark when they're done.

Still closed. Apparently it has been closed for 11 years for repairs.

Catholic cathedral

Historic Sites
Nestled behind the bustling Victoria Row, St. Dunstan's Basilica is a stunning architectural gem that captivates visitors with its towering spires and intricate Gothic Revival details. This historic church showcases the High Victorian Gothic style, setting it apart from other churches in Quebec. After a devastating fire in 1913, just six years post-completion, the basilica underwent meticulous restoration to preserve its striking brick and stone facade adorned with numerous pinnacles.
Cool historic Catholic Church with the location dating back to the 1800s and the church being built in 1919. There is great architecture inside and out. A must walk by if visiting in town. Even if you don’t go inside the view from outside is gorgeous. Even if you aren’t religious the architecture alone is worth the views.
Devin — Google review
A must visit basilica in quiet city of Charlottetown. Parking was a bit challenging and most of the roads are narrow and one way. Better park in designated parking spaces and take a 5min walk to the Basilica. The architecture was amazing with well decorated ceiling and aesthetic feel. Come visit this place!
Richard V — Google review
Beautiful Basilica! This Cathedral Parish had its humble beginnings in the 1700s. Very rich in history! I visited on a Saturday afternoon just before the 4pm Mass and said a prayer of thanksgiving for the opportunity to see this beautiful High Victoian Gothic Cathedral, a National Historic Site! A treasure handed down by many generations before us so we can have a holy place of worship.
Legion T — Google review
A Sacred Landmark of Faith and Heritage During my visit to Charlottetown, I had the privilege of spending time at St. Dunstan’s Basilica, an enduring testament to the Christian faith and a cornerstone of Prince Edward Island’s spiritual and cultural life. As a Christian who does not belong to the Catholic tradition, I still felt a profound sense of reverence and admiration for this sacred place. The basilica’s neo-Gothic architecture is striking, with its twin spires rising high above the city skyline—a visible reminder of the enduring presence of the Church. Inside, the atmosphere is serene and contemplative. Sunlight streams through the magnificent stained glass windows, casting vibrant colors across the pews and the intricately carved altar. It is clear that generations of believers have poured their devotion and care into maintaining this house of worship. While our traditions may differ in certain practices, standing within these walls reminded me of the shared foundations of our faith in Christ. The beauty of St. Dunstan’s is not merely in its architecture but in the witness it bears to a community shaped by prayer, sacrament, and service. I would encourage any Christian visitor, regardless of denomination, to take time to appreciate both the historical significance and the spiritual atmosphere of this basilica. It is a place where one can pause, reflect, and honor the faith that has inspired so many throughout the generations.

Flea & Street Markets
The Charlottetown Farmers Market is a vibrant gathering place where locals come together to celebrate their community and showcase the best of local produce. The market, located in a purpose-built building, exudes a European covered-market feel and offers an array of freshly picked island vegetables and fruits, along with local cheeses, breads, jams, honey, and crafts. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food from various stands serving up everything from samosas to doughnuts to island-roasted espresso.
We loved our experience here at the farmers market, on a Saturday. It was so eclectic with a little bit of everything from around the island, at surprisingly affordable prices. We were greeted by wonderful and talented musicians playing cuban music upon arrival and upon entering were entranced by the myriad smells and sights. We enjoyed getting samosas, coffee, baked goods, artisanal soaps, and wood carvings. We would come back any time we could.

It was a lovely quaint visit. Lots of parking and washrooms available. Most places take card but some only take cash; arms available in site
H C — Google review
Fantastic vibe, great food, great produce, FANTASTIC coffee, good music, and as someone just visiting PEI, I felt as if I had been going to this farmer's market for years based on how the vendors talked to my group. I talked to one lady about making jerky recipes for fifteen minutes, then got invited to a live show. The cross section of different nationalities was really cool, and provided difficult choices of what to eat and what to bring home.
Robin E — Google review
Visiting from Toronto. Such a fabulous market. Great variety. Such delicious foods. We tried the Afghan Mantou, the Indian samosas and the Labanese spinach cheese pastry. We also got ginger molasses cookies and butter tarts. So delicious and fresh. Everyone is so friendly! Vendors and patrons included. I enjoyed it so much! Wish I took more pictures but I got carried away with eating food right away! haha
Alice — Google review
Amazing farmers market. Food was good and a lot of local shops. Ended up buying handmade wooden coasters online through one of the shops.
Satoshi — Google review
This is a great farmers market as it offers a wide variety of items. Many great food stands, local vegetables and arts and crafts. The place is small, popular and therefore crowded. Most kiosks accept credit and debit but some take cash only (donut and vegetable stands). Just wished it was a bit bigger and was not as jam packed.
Renaud L — Google review
For some reason I thought it would be bigger. There were some good vegan food stands, sandwiches, smoothies and a beautiful vegan cheese stand. Interesting homemade crafts and baking. I had breakfast there (black bean samosa and a smoothie). Lots of parking but it was busy even at 9am.

Steak house
Sims Corner Steakhouse & Oyster Bar is a top-notch dining spot in Charlottetown, owned by John and Lois Dalziel, hospitality industry veterans. The restaurant offers an elegant blend of classic steakhouse vibes and modern oyster bar energy.
Truly an amazing restaurant. Our server Kelly was very informative with regards to the feature menu options and extremely welcoming. Reservations are required. I’d recommend the 14oz Ribeye steak. Medium rare is a must to taste all the juiciness of the cut of meat. Everything was extremely tasty! I can’t recall having a steak that juicy and tender in a really long time. The cut of meat is local organic grass fed from the island. The garlic mashed potatoes were out of this world. The fresh cut veggies were crunchy and buttery. They have fresh local oysters which I’d highly recommend. The fresh scallop appetizer was amazing. I can’t wait to return next.
JAY K — Google review
Our last meal in PEI before heading home post vacation, we could not have made a better choice. Exceptional service, food and atmosphere. The oysters were fresh and delicious, the crab dip was also a great choice. Easily the best mussels in town, the lobster toast and burger were also top notch. An excellent way to wrap up a fine holiday!
Eric V — Google review
I visited this restaurant in 2022 and had an absolutely wonderful meal. This is my second visit and sadly I only had a little bit of time, I can only assume the food is still great, but I only had time for a glass of wine and a dozen oysters - which were very nice and freshly shucked in front of me. Service was professional, efficient and personal. I am just sorry I wasn’t in town long enough to have dinner again. The interior is warm and cozy and well thought out. If you are looking for a lovely dinner, I have to say don’t miss this place. I will be back.

I can’t comment on the other dishes, but you must try their Crème Brûlée—it’s absolutely delicious! I often come here just for this dessert and skip everything else. It’s only $12 but comes in a generous portion. perfectly caramelized on top, sweet but not overwhelming. The Sticky Date Pudding is a bit on the sweeter side. if you’ve never tried it before, I’d recommend ordering one to share—it’s rich but worth experiencing at least once. The Espresso Dark Chocolate & Salted Caramel Torte is quite sweet and a little sticky on the teeth, but the salted cream on top is fantastic! When you eat them together, the flavors balance out nicely, though I wish there were more cream. As for the Crème Brûlée, I’ll keep coming back for it again and again! If you’re ever feeling down, come for one—it’s a happy dessert served in a cozy, atmospheric space with great service.

I just had the most delightful experience, and I wanted to share. The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with incredible flavors that made my taste buds sing. The staff was incredibly attentive and provided service that was truly top-notch. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations and made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience!

Fantastic steakhouse. I highly recommend. I had the tenderloin, my husband had the strip loin and oysters. Both excellent steaks. Cooked perfectly. Without a doubt the best seafood chowder I have ever had in my entire life. If you're looking for a romantic cozy place for an excellent meal or even an evening with friends you won't go wrong with the atmosphere or the menu. We definitely will be back.

Great restaurant in the heart of Charlottetown, we were looking for an upscale dining spot and this was a great find! Food was delicious, flavourful and fresh. Staff were friendly. Decor was nice and cozy Lots of items to choose from and they were accommodating to dietary restrictions Recommend to make a reservation as it does get quite busy
Zippy — Google review
I enjoyed the oysters very much, limited options for ordering wine by the glass but fair enough in off season. I felt the "steak bread 2.0" had too much going on and was a little sweet for me. Same with the fries im my opinion, too much going on with the aioli the grated cheese the balsamic just a bit much. Great focaccia and steak though. Everything was prepared well and cooked nicely though.

Seafood restaurant
Merchantman Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar is a charming restaurant in Charlottetown, PEI, known for its rustic ambiance and delectable Canadian seafood menu. The indoor seating exudes a cozy atmosphere while the outdoor patio at Next Door offers a fantastic setting to enjoy drinks and meals. Situated near the waterfront, this year-round destination is popular among locals and visitors alike. Housed in a historic building, it boasts an oyster bar and diverse menu options beyond seafood.
We had such a great time at this seafood spot! We ordered oysters and lobster, and honestly, they were so tasty — super fresh and full of flavor. You can really tell they know what they’re doing with seafood. Even my boyfriend, who is not seafood lover, told that this is absolutely good. The atmosphere was really nice too — relaxed, cozy, and just a great vibe overall. There was mot too much people, so the food were coming to us pretty fast. Our waitress was also very polite and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone who loves good seafood. We’ll for sure be coming back!
Sandra D — Google review
Great restaurant! A very nice place for an intimate first date, ask for a window seat if you do, or just a casual meal for some seafood. Wait staff is quite young, could be just the night we were there, but could use some more experience. Our server Cate, was super nice and was able the navigate a busy dining room fairly well. Food. We had a lobster roll, and pan fried haddock with a lobster dip appetizer and a few oysters. Everything was seasoned well, and was very tasty. I tried some purple rain cocktail, that wasn't bad! Restaurant is located in a heritage building, so the decor is very nice, old beams, etc. Down near the waterfront, a very nice location. Definitely a restaurant to consider if you are in town for a visit.
Kenny L — Google review
This is definitely one of the best restaurants we’ve tried! The oysters were absolutely on point — fresh, flavorful, and a great deal with their $20 special for 10 pieces after 8 PM. We also ordered the calamari, which was really tasty with a nice crisp and well-seasoned coating. If there’s one thing I could suggest, it would be to use slightly larger pieces of squid to make each bite a bit meatier and more satisfying. Overall, the quality of the food and the great value make this place a must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!
The T — Google review
We came here for dinner (2 adults, 2 kids) & all of us loved our meals. We ordered the calamari as our appetizer which was delicious. Love the aioli drizzle on top & the dip accompaniment. I ordered the Buttermilk Fish Sandwich which I will think about until I’m back in P.E.I. one day - it was THAT good! Our server told me it was many of the staff’s favourite menu item as well. My husband got the open-faced steak sandwich which was cooked to perfection. Our kids got the chicken tenders kids’ meals - 3 chicken tenders which were nicely seasoned & a generous portion of fries. BIG BONUS - if you go on a Sunday (like we did) kids meals are only $5! We didn’t have to wait too long for our food & our server was friendly & helpful. Overall, we’d definitely recommend this restaurant.
Melinda F — Google review
It was a Friday around 5pm when we pulled into a parking spot in front of this place and we thought, ‘yah, we’re hungry!’. Without reservations, it was a 3 hour wait for a table, but we were offered bar seating. The bar staff were great, very attentive, quick and crazy personable. We had drinks, and we both ordered the open steak sandwiches. They were delicious and cooked to perfection. We cleaned those plates. Great atmosphere, fun staff and good food. Why not go? But make reservations if you want a table.
M.D. — Google review
All the food here was good. I was very surprised by the seafood boil, huge portion and fresh and tasty. Salty for my taste but I guess that's how it's meant to be prepared. Special thanks to our waiter, I didn't get his name but he was accommodating, caring, fast, efficient and just great at his job. He even gave us some tips for sightseeing. He was an older gentleman, a silver fox I would say , best employee there 😊
Den M — Google review
We went early and they accommodated us instantly, on a busy Saturday night.. We ordered the smoke and pickle board, which was amazing! Then came our seafood boil, not cheap, but worth every penny. Cooked to perfection. Our hostess was brilliant, and helped to make this an excellent night!

Fine dining restaurant
Located in the historic heart of Charlottetown, Claddagh Oyster House is a beloved family-owned seafood restaurant that has been serving locals and tourists for over 20 years. The elegant setting and impeccable service make it a favorite dining spot. Specializing in PEI's famous oysters and seafood, the menu also features lobster, mussels, PEI Beef, pasta dishes, and chicken.
My husband and I had a wonderful time dining here on our last night in Charlottetown. The food was so fresh and delicious! They gave us biscuits to start and then we had oysters as an appetizer. We had the catch of the day, which was swordfish, and the salmon for our mains. Everything was flavourful and prepared to perfection! It is on the pricey side, but worth it if it's within your budget. It was quite busy so I highly recommend making a reservation.
Sapna H — Google review
If you ever find yourself in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, you must drop into the Claddagh Oyster House, otherwise you can't say you've had the city's finest dining experience. The food is literally off the chart! Prices aren't as high as one would expect, especially for someone like me coming from Toronto. The service was beyond attentive and impeccable. As well, upon overhearing the manager speaking to his staff, I asked about the money market funds he was talking about and instead of giving me a "Why are you listening to my conversation," spoke with me for over 10 minutes giving me some great money management (retirement) advice. Charlottetown is truly lucky to have Claddagh Oyster House as one of the city's eatery establishments.
Nick K — Google review
Superb service by very professional waiters and excellently prepared plates coming from the kitchen. As one should expect from an Oyster House, the variety plate served with three different local oysters brought pristine oysters, well shucked. We also loved the mussels. The grilled halibut was done just right, the moist, sweet meat of the fish nicely accompanied with a variety of side dishes. Equally good was the Brick Chicken. A delightful dinner with special thanks to our waiter.
Hansjakob W — Google review
Claddagh Oyster House was our last dinner before we left PEI & it didn’t disappoint. My wife enjoyed the oysters and the seafood chowder was so good and packed with seafood! Really good biscuits too. For the mains, the jerk crab legs were amazing! Never had any thing like those before. We also ordered the special which was halibut with scallops- delicious. Sticky date pudding for dessert was good as well and a nice finish to the meal. Highly recommend!
Jessica T — Google review
First of all, the place looks really nice, its very well designed. We had Rockefeller oysters but we weren’t really crazy about them, it was too heavy and chewy but I believe that’s personal preference. They were served on way too big plate so it looked a bit silly and empty. Then we had Chowder and lobster risotto. Both were delicious and perfect comforting food for rainy day. Only thing, the risotto had way too much cheese which was too overpowering. Service was ok but not great.
Maria V — Google review
We were lucky enough to get squeezed in at the bar by Kelly (awesome server!) with the couple we were doing an east coast road trip with. Thanks for making room for 4 wayward souls! lol. The bartender Jonah was absolutely amazing with his suggestion’s for cocktails, wine including recommendation’s for dinner and turning our dinner into an event that we will cherish for a very long time! The finish upstairs with a night cap at the Old Dublin Pub was perfect! Thanks again for helping us add an amazing memory to our trip!

The Staff are very informative and accommodating. Our waiter was extremely helpful. The food was extremely tasty, fresh and the menu options were very inviting. Great cocktail list. Reservations are required. Fresh local oyster’s are recommended, the local fresh cut meat is also recommended. I got the 14oz Ribeye steak it came with fresh cut vegetables and a side mashed potatoes. It was a very thin cut which was very enjoyable. The desert menu is packed with fresh desserts. I enjoyed the crème brûlée. Highly recommended. Will definitely return in the future.

Best fries in town!!🍟 Absolutely loved their fries here, they came out hot, fresh, and were very well seasoned. Burger, noachos, and dip were extremely tasty, I felt very satisfied after eating. Love the old antique vibe, it is very welcoming and warm😊 Also love how they sell their own beer they make! Waiter was super kind and outgoing🥰 Highly recommend this pub!🍻

We had a great lunch on the shaded patio, and even our two dogs were welcomed. The famous PEI lobster rolls with blueberry ale were excellent, and the mussels in sauce were a highlight. The kids enjoyed fish and chips, chicken fingers, and pasta. A great family-friendly spot with tasty food and a relaxed vibe.

The food here is decent. We were not wowed by it but it’s pretty good. I wish they had more main dish vegan options than just a burger and salad. The drinks were good and our group enjoyed the oysters. The service was excellent. The bathroom downstairs is dirty and smells awful.

Wow. We left two other places in Charlottetown before deciding to eat here. No second thoughts. Per our collective memory we had the best fish & chips (breading, fish and tartar sauce) AND oysters. Should I say that we also had PEI mussels? Excellent experience. We would come here again tomorrow if our ship wasn’t leaving tonight!
David B — Google review
We really enjoyed our experience here. It felt intimate and hidden from the tourist throngs. The seafood chowder was amazing, and the beers were cheap until the early evening. A nice spot in the middle of downtown.
Eric B — Google review
*Tourist Experience* > The hard root beer is a must try! Super yummy! > Pass on the tuna tartare. This was super disappointing. It was large chunks of tuna no dressing on-top, and quite bland. Tartare should be finely minced and have some sort of marinade or sauce mixed in. > The mac and cheese was very tasty! It was rich and piping hot! > Lobster roll was very tasty. The lobster meat is very finely chopped, so if you’re expecting chunks, this is not it. But the flavour was amazing! > The French fries were tasty! > Pass on the mussels, they were pretty dried out, and there was maybe 1/4 c. of sauce in the bottom. I’ve had better elsewhere and would not reorder these. Our server was lovely! The building was beautiful and overall, I’d recommend to visit.

With two locations, it has become a go-to destination for coffee dates and casual meetups. The menu features a variety of breakfast options that change regularly, including items like breakfast club sandwiches, crepes, Eggs Benedict, and breakfast nachos.
A must go for breakfast if you are in the area! We had a wonderful experience with our server Ella who was super knowledgeable and gave us really great service! The breakfast sandwich was fantastic as was the egg Benedict with the added smoked salmon.

Lovely spot! Bright & friendly. Quick service. Kid & pet friendly (patio for pets, water bowl outside). Great coffee. The menu has options for different dietary needs including gluten free & vegetarian. On-site parking available. I had the yogurt with berries & granola and a London Fog. Recommend both!

Extremely slow service for such simple dishes. It took 30 mins for things to start coming. The BLT and eggs Benedict were decent, but the receiver breakfast and grilled cheese + soup were not good at all. Potato soggy, bacon overcooked into chips, and rock hard toast.

-This is an odd, not a coffee shop, even though it looks like one. -Receiver has food and sit down table service, along with a lot of baked goods, that are top notch. And coffee. -Coffee is ok. Baked goods definitely worth checking out. Sourdough, lemon tart, butter tart, and another one we had were all excellent. -The identity crisis of coffee, baked goods, and food with table service is confusing. Wanted to sit and enjoy coffee, but then you’re taking up table space. There’s tables eating, and then there’s just ppl there working on computer.

Lovely, bright space to enjoy a quick meal of a nice coffee! I always really enjoy their Moroccan rice bowls, and their freshly baked breads are a staple! Their staff are attentive and thoughtful. Lovely place!

A very enjoyable breakfast with great food and coffee. Atmosphere was ambient but able to talk. Quesadilla tasted fabulous with a perfect balance of different ingredients and flavours.

The taste level of their espresso is top notch. If you are an espresso lover, I recommend the iced latte with half the milk to fully taste the espresso. Chefs kiss. The breakfast sandwich SLAPS, definite repeat order every time I visit. The bread, the bacon jam, the pickled onions, all work!!
