Saint John

Saint John is a city on the Bay of Fundy, in New Brunswick, Canada. It’s known for the Reversing Rapids, a phenomenon caused by bay tides colliding with the Saint John River. Food and craft stalls fill the Saint John City Market, in an 1876 building. On a peninsula nearby, trails wind through Irving Nature Park’s salt marshes, volcanic rock and forests. The 1913 Imperial Theatre stages plays, concerts and dance.

Nature & Parks
Irving Nature Park, located just a 15-minute drive from downtown Saint John, covers 600 acres of coastal land along the Bay of Fundy. The park was established to protect 11 kilometers of shoreline and features six distinct ecosystems, including forests, mud flats, salt marshes, volcanic rock formations, and a sandy beach. Visitors can explore groomed trails and a gravel road for walking, hiking, and biking while enjoying picturesque views of the Fundy coastline.
Irving Nature Park is an amazing park to walk through with breathtaking views of Saint John's shoreline. Perfect relaxing day hiking these trails with plenty of wildlife and peacefulness. Parking is plenty and not overly crowded with tourists or people in general. Bring a light jacket and hat, it can get chilly and windy by the waters.

Amazing trails, I mean unbelievable untouched Mother Nature beauty. You can spend all day just admiring the surroundings. Easy and challenging. Love it!

The combination of pine scented air and briny sea air is salve to the soul. This place is peaceful and quiet. I saw seven deer throughout my two hours there! Hiking trails are well kept and relatively easy. Picnic tables and benches throughout for a rest. I love how you get forest, beach, views of the sea, salt marsh, and rocky terrain all in one place. This park is a gem!

Just a beautiful park! What a great surprise for an unexpected getaway. I drove across the border from Maine for an adventure with my daughter and I sure found one. Trails along the coast are beautiful. Lots of little stops along the way to rest and take great pictures. Many spots for an impromptu picnic and great barbecue spots. I will definitely do it again and again!!

Excellent location just outside the city offers a very welcoming first impression of the area. There are multiple areas, trails and entrances so if you want to see it all, but are somewhat short on time, it's best to plan your routes. If you plan accordingly, you can also see the rise and fall of the tides. 600 acres comprising of a children's park, beach, forests, BBQ pits and picnic tables coupled with various activities throughout the year. It's a nice break from the more industrial feel of the main city area in Saint John.

One of the best maintained parks in St. John and very scenic too. Main gravel road branches out into different circuits with varying lengths and difficulty levels, there's something for everyone. Big parking space at the main gate and smaller parking lots across the nature park so you can stop right next to the trail you want to hike. There are some looking points almost on every trail, overlooking the bay. Great to watch the tide turn. Bbq areas and portable toilets are across the park.

Beautiful trails to walk/bike. Tons of birds, if you take the time to sit still and call to them, they will land on your hand! Beautiful place to go for a walk with friends and/or to be alone and ponder your thoughts. *Great place for rocks and sticks *Parking lot is AWFUL, drive SUPER slow and check your tires before leaving your vehicle after parking to make sure giant sharp rocks aren't indenting your tires. *No garbage

Drove through the loop, stopped at all possible stops. This is a well kept nature reserve. Some of the stops had beautiful views. There are many trails. Was told that when the tide is low, seals can be seen on the rocks. Unfortunately the tide was high when we were there, did not see any seals.

I loved this place. There are so many vendors. Some vendors sell basic souvenirs for great prices, which is really great. And some vendors sell home made crafts. I love getting authentic souvenirs that represent the land I'm visiting. If you visit the Saint John City Market, you must get something from Beverly Reid at her Hampton Creators kiosk inside the market. She makes the most beautiful jewelry from Canadian maple leaves and flowers from her backyard. I got a stunning necklace - crushed up Maple leaves preserved in wine kind of resin, set in silver. And her prices are fantastic.

Nice market. Everything is meticulously laid out. There are fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, and some food from various countries. There are also handcrafted items and souvenirs.

Great little market for groceries, food and souvenirs. Lots of different cultural foods and creative artists selling their goods.

The area is small, and the products sold in some stalls are very attractive. I bought a lobster-shaped bath bomb.

This place was one of the best places that we visited during our trip, especially considering it was raining and windy the day our cruise ship stopped... Loved It!
Rocky F — Google review
Lovely little place with lots of local artist putting their souls into their craft. Aswell as a good few snacking opportunities!

I really expected more. It's attached to a 3 level mall that's pretty much empty. Unfortunately a Sign of the times and economy. I didn't even bother to take pictures of the market. However inside the mall which you will find the New Brunswick Black History Society. I wish I had to time to go back and see more information

Rockwood Park is a sprawling natural area located near the Uptown area, offering a diverse mix of neighborhoods, shopping centers, and nature parks. Spanning over 2,200 acres, this central city park features an array of trails, lakes, and walking paths for various outdoor activities. It is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike throughout the year. The park is part of the UNESCO Stonehammer Geopark system due to its rich geological history spanning billions of years.
Rockwood Park is an absolute gem in Saint John! This sprawling park offers a perfect escape into nature, featuring beautiful walking trails, serene lakes, and stunning views. Whether you're looking for a peaceful hike, a family picnic, or just a place to unwind, this park has something for everyone. The trails are well-maintained and vary in difficulty, making them accessible for all ages and fitness levels. The scenery is breathtaking, and it's easy to forget you're in the city while surrounded by the lush greenery and tranquil atmosphere. One of the highlights is the variety of recreational activities available. From biking and hiking to playgrounds for the kids, there's no shortage of things to do. The park is also dog-friendly, which is a bonus for pet owners looking to enjoy some time outdoors with their furry friends. While the park is generally well-kept, I did notice some areas that could use a bit more attention in terms of maintenance and litter pickup. However, this doesn't take away from the overall experience. In summary, Rockwood Park is a fantastic destination for both locals and visitors alike. It's a perfect spot to connect with nature and enjoy some outdoor fun. Highly recommend checking it out!

A stunning park located in the center of St. John. There are several activities nearby, including swimming, riding, hiking, and renting canoes and paddle boats. There's also an on-site restaurant and massage parlor. Excellent campground with unlimited stays and full hookups. Usually begins operations in April and ends in early October. Extremely secure, with chain link fencing enclosed around the entire property.

This place is amazing. Something here for everyone. We were here in 2016, and we are amazed at the improvements that are going on. Lots to do here, swimming, biking, hiking trails, canoe rentals, paddle boat rentals, etc. Also, a restaurant and massage place on site. Great campground with full hookups, no stay limit. Normally opens in April and closes early October. Very safe, with enclosed chain link fencing around the perimeter of the grounds. Plan on spending an entire day here. Lots to do and see.

I'm always up in Rockwood. Especially this time of the season. Running the bike trails is something to be experienced and good work. We could have world-class trial systems up in Rockwood with some work and funding. Would be get for the city and surrounding area.

A beautiful park with convenient access from Saint John and the surrounding area. Several places to swim, and some visually pleasing landscaping and memorials round out your visit. There's a horse farm and botanical garden, but we didn't visit them this trip. Lots of hiking trails too! Come down and enjoy nature and fresh air.

Absolutely beautiful park in the heart of St. John. Kind of reminded me Lord of the Rings forest, sometimes mysterious and dark, sometimes shining with light. The biggest highlight for me was the little bridge that gave opening to the side of the Long lake covered with yellow water lilies. Enjoy the peace, bring your family as well. Abide..

Bodies of Water
The Reversing Falls in Saint John, New Brunswick is a must-see attraction known for its tidal rapids on the Saint John River. It is popular for whitewater kayaking and features an observation deck for visitors to enjoy the natural phenomenon. The Bay of Fundy, home to the highest tides in the world, influences the flow of the river. At low tide, visitors can explore sea caves and rock formations along miles of dry land.
The reversing waterfall is fascinating to watch at low tide, when the water is rushing down towards the sea, and at high tide, when the water is going back up the river. I went back twice to see both. Apparently the tide can change the river depth by five metres. Best place to watch is at the Reversing Waterfall Park. Even if you are not there at peak low or high tide it is interesting to see.
John B — Google review
So I'll start by saying if you come at the wrong time, this attraction is probably 2 or 3 stars. If you come at the right time, it's a solid 4 stars (maybe 5 if you add in the marine life). We took a cruise excursion that took us here first thing off the boat, unfortunately nothing was reversing so it was like ok a big body of water and a paper mill. We went about our tour and on the way back to the ship, I guess we had some extra time, so we went back by the falls. This time, it was reversing!! Definitely a very unique thing to see. Keep your eyes open for cute little sea animals (seals, otters, etc).
Shula R — Google review
Just had a quick stop at the Reversing Falls in Saint John and wow—a tidal magic show in action! 🌊 Once every 12 hours, the Bay of Fundy flexes with its monstrous tides and literally reverses the river’s flow—one moment it rushes out to sea, the next it's surging back upstream. It’s kind of like nature doing its own Houdini trick! The pedestrian bridge and lookout platforms offer excellent vantage points—great for selfies. If you time your visit around high or low tide, it’s pure theatre: roaring water, churning whirlpools—you feel the raw Bay of Fundy power firsthand. Locals say it’s subtle, but I found it mesmerizing and totally worth the stop. This small-town gem is a refreshing detour that packs a punch: 5 stars, full stop ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
G D — Google review
In my opinion, the Reversing Falls isn’t all that great or interesting. First and foremost, there aren’t any actual falls to see. Unlike in the name, there aren’t any reversing waterfalls. What is there is a river where the water reverses at specific times in the day. I do not think it worth taking a detour and visiting, but if it’s on your way, it’s not too bad either. It happened to be on my way and the walk down to the river wasn’t long either, but if I had taken a detour to come and see the reversing falls, I’d definitely be more disappointed with what I saw. There is a gift shop available for visitors to grab some merchandise, but it was very limited. Bathrooms were also available on sight - clean and easy to find. All in all, I don’t think I would visit the Reversing Falls again, but you may enjoy just popping by and grabbing lunch at their on site restaurant or something.
Swati P — Google review
This is a strange, and fascinating, tourist attraction. The high tide from the Bay of Fundy actually REVERSE the flow of the Saint John River. We were there during the mid-morning and witnessed the spectacle. Worth a visit.
Dan T — Google review
Public transportation to the site was available when we visited ($3 CDN per person to and from). The bus is the No. 1 (E / W) depending on which direction you're coming from. Ask the bus driver to let you know when to get off (we found the staff very nice). It's after the museum and high school, in a residential area. Walk through the neighborhood and you're there. You must be patient with the bus - I suggest downloading the schedule, so you can maximize your time at the phenomenon. Once there, there is a steeper short cut - look for the power line cables (see the photo) on the left as you come down the street. The shortcut does require the use of STAIRS. If you're in St. John, go see it (I purposefully did not post pictures of the falls). Finally, there is a public restroom in the vicinity. Travel safely.

The Bay of Fundy is not a remarkable place. Interesting little town, but with an amazing, very unusual river that actually reverses twice a day and travels about 60 miles inland. Very cool excursion.

The New Brunswick Museum is a treasure trove of the province's rich history, science, and art. Although it may be temporarily closed as it seeks a new location, this museum offers an array of fascinating exhibits that cater to visitors of all ages. One highlight is the Hall of Great Whales, which captivates children and adults alike.
More interesting than I taught. I'm not into art, but it was really a surprise for me to be into it. Worth the price. If you got children, they got a beautiful place for them with you and crafts.

Can't wait until the 3rd floor is finished. However, just because much is covered over with tarp of the 1st floor and the 3rd floor is closed for renovations, doesn't mean you shouldn't go. My brother and I had a great hour here all the same. The staff member was very nice and informed us before we paid about all the renovations. Also, the price was reduced from $8/adult to $6, so that was nice. Still a lot to see, in a very picturesque area, and thoughtful displays.
Andrew B — Google review
I was expecting more but it was decent. They gave me half off because a lot of exhibits were closed and there were signs everywhere saying sections were closed due to building issues and the province and landlord were working on them. Layout is a little confusing, but there are some cool exhibits on ship building and whales. Come prepared to read because most information is printed on 8.5x11 paper with 12pt font.

This extensive collection of NB artifacts is Canada's oldest continuing museum, with roots back to 1842! It is currently closed and in transition while a new building is designed, which will nestle around the original, grand 1934 building on Douglas Avenue. The new NB Museum is destined to become one of the best attractions in the Province of NB!

Boring. The only redeeming factor is the children's play area on the top floor. There's a huge puppet show area with many different animal puppets that the children love. Toys Galore and a mini library with seating.

Saint John Ale House is a trendy spot with a late-night scene, serving up creative seasonal dishes and local craft beers. It's the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the city, offering an outdoor patio for enjoying local brews like Tool Shed Porter. The menu features succulent scallops wrapped in crispy bacon with maple syrup, as well as massive lobster rolls that are not to be missed.
Stopped in for dinner. Was a Tuesday day so $8 flights. Great selection of beers and ciders on tap. Good menu. Some items are on the pricier side. Downtown pricing. But food was great. Good portions. Well prepared. Staff were efficient and friendly. Good come out quickly. Vibe is a pub/warehouse. Was ok.

Just went in for a quick lunch. Food was good but pricey. The costs the potions should be better. The day we went they were unable to get hot water to make coffee or tea. I recommend a better back up plan consider we were there at 2pm in the afternoon. Plenty of time to figure it out. We will try to come again if we are in Market Square. Stay tuned.........

Good Food. On the pricey side , but that's expected for waterfront views. I'd like to add, never in my life have I been charged for a takeaway container until visiting here. Adding pics of the fish and chips, shaved Prime rib, buttermilk fried chicken and feta and Dates.

Small chowder and mussels were fantastic. Ambience is really nice and they have indoor speakers so you can hear the live music. It's quite expensive but I guess that makes sense since its along the harbour

Had the pleasure of having lunch at the Saint John Ale House on our first trip to Saint John. We were served by the most lovely waitress, Vicky. She was so sweet and made us feel comfortable from the get-go. Really appreciated the beer samples. As many of the other reviews state, it was quite pricey. Had a delicious salad that was already $34 without any protein, and $16 for added salmon. Total of a $50 salad! Really good pub club. Beautiful view and location though, and nice and quiet without a crews ship in sight.

We arrived in Saint John late on a Friday night and popped in for a drink. They are open late. With a long list of drafts, we were happy to see they offer flights! We sampled a few and then settled on a couple of pints. 🍻 The bartender was friendly, welcoming, and helped answer all of our questions. Note: We accidentally entered through the back—thanks, Google! Just a heads-up if you're trying to find the front entrance. 😉

I went for lunch and the server, was efficient and could describe the menu items easily. I chose the brisket Donaire, which was lovely with fries. My waitress even went back upstairs to get me some vinegar. My friend, and I shared the chocolate cake, which was very dense, and tasted homemade. I will be back and loved the new patio. Well done Ale House and Olivia our server.

Part 1: Monday night visit to SJAH. Ethan was server and service was top notch. Ordered the Pan Seared Halibut. Wow, great meal. The fresh halibut was seared with a nice crispiness on the outside and nice flakiness on the inside. Done very nicely. Served with veggies and mashed and everything tasted outstanding. One of my best meals over the last few months. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed with this meal. Part 2: Probably would not normally edit a review but returned a week later and enjoyed my meal so much I thought I would add to my review. Service by Sierra and everything was excellent. I had the Crosby molasses salmon and it was equally as good as the halibut I had last week. The molasses was not overused, just a nice glaze on the salmon. And the salmon was cooked perfect and the served plate looked beautiful. I will give a shout out to local Yip cider original. I had not tried it before and enjoyed it a lot. I found it worked with the salmon quite nicely.

Indian restaurant
Thandi is a high-end, family-owned restaurant with a hip vibe that has been serving delicious Asian fusion dishes and local beers since 2006. The menu offers a tantalizing fusion of East and West flavors, featuring steaks, seafood, chicken, and authentic Indian curries prepared with great care and attention to detail. This popular restaurant is known for its amazing mosaic of flavors that combine the best of Eastern and Western cuisines.
First things first, don’t walk into this restaurant expecting tradition Indian food. This is a very playful, creative take on a lot of Indian and south East Asian dishes. And boy are they worth trying. I’ve travelled all over the world for food and this was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had on Canada’s east coast. Thandi’s signature drinks like the mango mojito and the chai spiced old fashioned is a must try! The bartender really knows his stuff. We ended up having the platter for 2 to start - portions and dipping sauces were generous! The meat was tender and the samosas had the most satisfying crunch. We shared a biriyani for mains, and it was definitely enough for two. They served the biriyani with mixed meats which isn’t typical but if you keep an open mind, you will love it! To end the dinner, we ordered a crème brûlée and the pecan cheesecake. Both were incredible! I asked our waiter Bob (who is also wonderful!) if it was made in house and he said the owner makes it herself everyday! So of course I was impressed. I’ll be back again before I head back to Toronto. What a great night. Thank you Ken, Holly, Bob and the team! I am so grateful for the hands that fed us these incredible dishes. 10/10 would recommend. Don’t walk, run!

Service was fantastic, food came quickly. We had steak and butter chicken. Food was flavourful. Great price for a steak that size as well. Butter chicken had a full flavour but I wish there were more Indian bread styles to choose from instead of just naan, but overall solid. Price was a bit more than I’d usually pay for butter chicken but not outrageous.

We were on a Royal Caribbean cruise and found this resturant within 4 blocks of the port. Very short walk and boy was it worth it. There is no shortage of bland tasteless food on both the cruise ship and all of the ports you stop in, so it can be challenging at times to find a place that actually knows how to spice their food. This is the place. Thandi has an offering for anyone but the lo mein and chicken korma were spot on. You can even ask for it to be made spicier if you like. Abby our server was attentive and pleasant. Take a small walk and find great food!

I am writing to provide feedback regarding a recent visit to your restaurant. I traveled in from Fredericton, and I was genuinely looking forward to dining with you, as your restaurant is truly one of my favorite Indian spots. When I arrived, I was the only customer, and I want to start by acknowledging that the service was exceptionally fast and great. Unfortunately, my experience with the food was very underwhelming, leading me to believe it may have simply been an off night in the kitchen, given your usual high standards. I ordered the Samosa Chaat to start. It arrived quickly, but I found it to be very salty and lacking the depth of flavor I usually expect. It was only an 'okay' dish. This issue continued with my main course, the Lamb Korma. Again, I found the curry to be very salty and generally bland. I love Indian curries for the complexity and burst of flavors, and I sadly did not get that experience this time. As I visit your establishment a couple of times a year, I am sincerely hoping this was just a miss. On a strongly positive note, your beverage service was outstanding. I ordered two of the Pumpkin Spice Margaritas, and I absolutely loved them—they were amazing! Since your restaurant holds such a high place for me, I wanted to provide this honest feedback. I look forward to returning soon and experiencing the incredible food quality that I know and love you for.

We can’t wait for our next visit.

Nice restaurant but could use some updating of decor and tables. Food was good but many extra charges- $6.00 for onions and mushrooms. The waitress was good but we had to wait about 20 min to get our drinks (alcohol). There is one big reason why I won't be back though.....the owner, Holly. Not a nice lady and treated us like we shouldn't be there.

Restaurant
Italian by Night is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Saint John's uptown area. During the day, it transforms into Urban Deli, reflecting its rich history. The menu offers classic Italian dishes with a modern twist and an extensive wine selection. Guests can enjoy handmade pasta and culturally diverse sandwiches in a cozy dining room or on the popular outdoor patio during warmer months.
FINALLY! 5/5 across the board! We were so happy with our experience there. Food was delicious, the bustling atmosphere was never overwhelming or too loud. Instead, it was a blend of comfort and class, and our service was polite, fast, wonderful, really on all fronts. I am extremely happy with our first visit and have already decided to make it a birthday tradition! We thoroughly enjoyed the calamari appetizer. The seafood pastas were excellent, and the desert was a must. Absolutely a must visit in downtown Saint John! Get a reservation though because this is a popular spot!

Booked a reservation for 3 to celebrate my partner's birthday. It was myself, my partner and our 8 yr old. The service was lovely, Shannon was attentive, informative and kind. It was a busy night but with the service we got, we could have been the only ones there. Really special. The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE from my kiddo's pizza to the scallops on my penne. Try the polenta if you love yourself. Can't wait to go back again for another special occasion or fancy date night!

I went back to this restaurant after 6 months. First of all, they had added a partition between the two sections of the restaurant, which was great. The portion size and quality of the food had really improved, and it was absolutely delicious 😋. I even thought maybe a new and amazing chef had joined, because in the past, both the quality and portion sizes were poor. But now, some amazing changes had taken place! A waiter named Michael served us—he was polite, exceptional, and had a friendly, warm attitude. This restaurant is now back on my list of regular places to go!🥳😋😋

Nice Italian restaurant downtown. Reservations recommended. The food was good but not perfect. Had the Ceasar salad to start: The croutons were stale, the salad dressing was good. The chicken Parmigiana itself was very good but the pasta was bland and unseasoned. Please note that it's a bechamel sauce on the chicken not tomato. The pizza is good but not $21 good. The Gin Fizz was very gin forward. The server was great and they bring you a hot towel for your hands. There was a bit of a wait for my table despite being early and having a reservation. Parking can be difficult but there's a paid parking complex nearby.

Exceptional service — Cole made our evening unforgettable! We had dinner at Italian By Night in Saint John, and while the food was excellent, the true highlight of our night was our incredible server, Cole. Cole provided some of the best service we’ve ever experienced — warm, professional, and incredibly attentive. From bringing us warm towels at just the right time, to changing our plates and cutlery between courses without us even asking, to thoughtfully recommending the perfect wine and cocktail to pair with our meal, he made every detail feel personal and polished. The food itself was wonderful — we enjoyed the Polpetti, Hawaiana and Roma pizzas, the Scoglio seafood pasta (a standout!), and cocktails like the Foghorn and Aperol Spritz. Everything was flavorful and beautifully prepared. But truly, Cole elevated the whole experience to a different level. He made us feel so well taken care of — like VIPs — without being overbearing. Service like his is rare, and absolutely worth recognizing. If you’re dining here, I hope you get Cole. We’ll definitely be back — because of him! Grazie, Cole!

If you haven’t been to this restaurant yet, what are you waiting for? From the moment we walked in, the experience was exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and provided outstanding service that made us feel right at home. It was our first visit, and we couldn’t recommend it enough! Every dish was a hit—our entire group loved their meals. The Caesar salad was one of the best I’ve ever had, perfectly balanced and refreshing. The highlight for me was the spaghetti (a special not listed on the menu) recommended by our server. It came with two incredibly flavorful meatballs and tasted like it was made fresh just for us. To finish, I had the sorbet, which was light, refreshing, and bursting with fresh flavors. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service. We’ll definitely be back!

Seafood restaurant
Billy’s Seafood Company is an upscale-casual restaurant with a fish market on-site, offering a full bar and seasonal patio seating. Visitors rave about the amazing oysters, crab cakes, and Cajun Seafood Stew. The Salmon BLT and cedar plank salmon are also highly recommended dishes. The friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff, particularly Sara the hostess, make for a memorable dining experience. Additionally, Billy's offers curbside pick-up during Phase 3 of the pandemic.
We had an outstanding dining experience at Billy’s Seafood Company, located in the heart of uptown Saint John! From the moment we walked in, the inviting atmosphere set the stage for a wonderful meal. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the seafood chowder—it was absolutely divine! Each spoonful was a delightful blend of creamy goodness, brimming with an assortment of fresh seafood that was both flavorful and satisfying. The lobster 🦞 roll Connecticut style was also very delicious with generous lobster portion. Moreover, the overall vibe of the restaurant was fantastic, making it a perfect spot to unwind and savor a delicious meal. I must also commend Luke for his exemplary service; he was not only attentive but also genuinely friendly, enhancing our dining experience with his warm hospitality. If you’re in search of a place that serves delectable food and offers a welcoming environment, I wholeheartedly recommend Billy’s Seafood Company. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! 🦐✨

Although they couldn’t accommodate us at the moment due to a large party, we still made a reservation for 1430. The service was phenomenal. Our waitress recommended scallops since they didn’t have the crab cakes available, and she did not disappoint. Billy himself came over to speak with us as well. I went with the lobster roll with a side of chowder hoping the lobster roll would be better than when I tried them in Maine. It did not disappoint. I ordered Connecticut style, but the traditional with mayonnaise was recommended. The fish and chips were good. Not too much batter. The fish was soft. Did not come with tartar sauce though. The kids also ordered pasta with red sauce, and they seemed to like it. The chowder was creamy and had the right amount of scallop and potatoes and mussels. It was a nice combination with the lobster roll. The poutine was excellent. Better than gravy so the mozzarella cheese on French fries in your NY diner. The scallops with bacon was flavorful. The scallop on its own was bland so must be eaten with the bacon. The lobster roll was better here than the ones I ate in Maine. The roll the lobster was on was delicious. If you’re ever in the area, stop by. You won’t be disappointed.

I almost never leave a review, unless the restaurant is exceptional, one way or another. Billy's is amazing. The lobster roll is beyond terrific. The bread alone was sooo good. The wait staff were super friendly and the owner himself was doing a bang up job of clearing tables, taking orders and hosting. It was impressive watching him and amusing to listen to him. Honestly I would come back again and again! Ps: notice on the picture there's nearly no roll left. It was so amazing!

Stopped I'm for a quick lunch. The lobster roll was full, and the bread was well toasted. The fries were hot and crispy. Our waitress, Allie, was amazing! The shrimp burger surprisingly had a meat patty AND shrimp! The bun was well toasted. Crispy onion straws, too. The poutin was really good, but drowning in gravy, but it sure was yummy. It's definitely a place to stop . Don't let the road construction stop you.

I don't understand the bad reviews on here. While we were initially disappointed with the service. (It took about 15 plus minutes for the waiter to take our drink order, (considering there were hardly any customers there at that time) they more than made up for it in the quality of food. I grew up on the ocean, and Seafood is my favorite. We had Mussels, scallops, raw oysters, and the Seafood Platter. Absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be revisiting.

Nice place, went there multiple times and enjoyed it however food preparation in not so consistent. (first time musself were amazing, second time they were undercooked). The Oysters are fresh and nice (every time I went there however the Mignonette was also not consistent). It gets very busy during lunch hours, if you go a little later in the afternoon I would say it is a bit better. Oysters, Clam chowder is recommended - great, lobster is hype, battered clams just taste of batter.

Really cool seafood spot... It is a long-standing location in St John. Both appetizers were delicious.. especially the scallops. Then we shared 2 plates that were a lot of food for 4. Fish and chips were crispy and tasty.. the fried clams which usually is no my thing were very good too. Well.. this is a must stop location when in town for sure...

Located centrally in Saint John, a good site for seafood. Wonderful Seafood Chowder. Rich and full of flavour with just the right mix of seafood. Oysters were fresh. Both my lunch companion and I wish we had ordered more than the 6 we shared. The main entree I ordered, Lobster roll was a disappointing dish. Green onions overpowered the lobster, which was sharing the fresh bun with too much mayonnaise. Much of the lobster taste was masked over. Crab cakes were recommended and did not disappoint at all. Service was slow and inconsistent. Will be back to have the Oysters, crab cakes and that wonderful seafood chowder.

Gastropub
Irish restaurant
Cask & Kettle Irish Gastropub offers a vibrant atmosphere with modern interiors and a menu featuring an array of Irish dishes and drinks. The pub is highly regarded for its British and Irish staples such as shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, and fish and chips. Additionally, Acadian dishes like poutine rapee, coques frites, and fiddlehead soup are also available.
We had an amazing experience at Cask & Kettle in Saint John, NB! The food was absolutely delicious — the pulled pork grilled cheese and the MacDaddy chicken burger were both out of this world. We were traveling with our two dogs, and the dog-friendly patio was a perfect spot to relax. They even brought out water and a treat for our pups, which was such a thoughtful touch. The service was fantastic — super friendly and attentive. We felt really well taken care of. Highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area — whether you’re hungry or have furry friends in tow

Was a good spot. Was really busy but there was no wait for table. People after us had to wait a bit. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. Food was good. Had breaded, sweet chili chicken wings. Next time I would get sauce on side. Had a group.of musicians come in and practice at a table just as we were leaving. Loved the flute music.

My husband and I enjoyed our experience here and I highly recommend the 'shepards pie', it was top notch 10/10! I had the cod & specialty fries which tasted odd to me. I opted to go with regular fries and they were "ok". The battered cod was 10/10. I normally dont eat any of the batter but it tasted so light and fresh and the fish cooked to perfection! Jodie, thank you for your service! You are a very no nonsense efficient queen! We loved how attentive you were! Happily recommend Cask & Kettle Irish Gastropub and if we are ever back this way, we would stop in.for more tasty treats! Ms. Fancy Google Reviewer 12 million + picture views Vancouver, BC

First time there, and I will definitely not hesitate to go back. Had the CK burger with parmesan cheese fries, also the first time for me on the fries, they were fantastic! My lovely wife had the Maple Bacon Walnut Salad, and she stated it is to die for!! Then, there is the shout-out for our server. Emma, our dining pleasure was made so much better, with having you serve us!! If there were 6 stars, you would have received it! We look forward to stopping in the next time we are in Saint John.

We went on a Thursday and had their burger specials ($16 each from a set list). Burgers were juicy and topped with tasty extras (all of us had 'The Irish LC Burger'). Rosemary & parmesan fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Maple pecan salad was fresh and also very tasty. We would recommend for a good, casual dinner. I gave one less star for atmosphere because it was so loud we were having a hard time hearing each other.

I really enjoyed my experience here. The staff were really nice. My steak was absolutely delicious, well worth the price. As a Corkman, I’m always a fan of Murphys on tap too! There’s something for everyone on the menu and the ambience is great.

Super friendly place. We ate outside. Good beer selection. Waitress was super helpful and friendly. Forgot name but she was a competitive dancer. Great job. Really good poutine.

We found the BEST place in our whole Canada adventure in the Cask and Kettle in St. John’s NB. The pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich may sound a little weird but it was the best sandwich we had all week! The chocolate peanut butter pie was delicious according to two desert-aholics! And the best was the smiling, helpful, engaging server, Nicole. We were so thankful to find this place!
