San Antonio

San Antonio is a major city in south-central Texas with a rich colonial heritage. The Alamo, an 18th-century Spanish mission preserved as a museum, marks an infamous 1836 battle for Texan independence from Mexico. Following the San Antonio River, the miles-long River Walk is a landmark pedestrian promenade lined with cafes and shops. HemisFair Park’s 750-ft. Tower of the Americas overlooks the city.

Hiking Trails
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is a captivating destination that spans 948 acres and showcases four remarkable colonial missions from the 1700s. This UNESCO World Heritage Site invites visitors to explore its rich tapestry of history, culture, and architecture through guided tours and scenic trails. The park features Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada—each still functioning as active Catholic parishes offering regular services.
This series of 4 missions is not to be missed. While they all share similarities, each one has unique aspects that make a visit to each worthwhile. These missions portray the history of the mission period of the 1700s. While gaining perspective on this important period of US and Texas history, you'll also see and hear some of the stories of the indigenous people and their descendants. It's a terrific mix of agriculture, trade, family life, community, military, and religion. In terms of the churches, Mission Concepcion (oldest unrestored stone church in the US - and in remarkable shape!) and Mission San Jose (Queen of the Missions - largest and most restored) are both special. In addition, the San Antonio Missions National Park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Took military graduate son there for celebratory outing. Beautiful historical park with well marked points of interest displays. Clean and well kept historical structures to walk among. Very educational. Paved Nature paths good for both the nimble and wheelchairs or walkers. Tickets to visit were not necessary.

This National Historic Park consists of four different missions, each with their own unique story. They are a little spread out so you can easily hit them all by driving. These sites are really interesting and well preserved. What's even cooler is that all of the missions are active faith communities. Truly a spot you should see in San Antonio aside from the Alamo.
Nick D — Google review
What an amazing day visiting the missions. Highly recommend starting at Mission San Jose. The movie and museum in the visitors center provide a great introduction—great to know the history and background. Take time to respectfully visit the inside of the churches as well.
Bonnie K — Google review
A beautiful time capsule of history. A bargain, 5 sites at $0, of course you can donate to the Churches. But who can beat that? Sure the Alamo is free too, but it's crowded and just one site.
Laura C — Google review
Stopped at Mission San Juan and talked with the Park Ranger, William, for a long time. He was very knowledgeable of the missions' history and the struggles of the local tribes. Then, we headed over to Mission San Jose. Couldn't go inside sanctuary due to private event. Passport stamps are at the Vistor Center with a small museum. Didn't have much time as we arrived close to closing. Great visit of a National Historic site.

Wonderful historic UNESCO heritage site. There's a church onsite that still has Mass. Definitely a must visit while in San Antonio

Sights & Landmarks
The Alamo, situated in downtown San Antonio, is a significant historical complex and a must-visit for over 2.5 million annual tourists. This iconic site played a pivotal role in Texan history, witnessing events from Spanish colonization to the Texas Revolution. The fortress holds great significance as it was where a small group of Texans valiantly defended against General Santa Anna's forces for thirteen days. Today, it stands as a symbol of courage and sacrifice for liberty.
I visited the Alamo in San Antonio and really enjoyed learning about the history behind this important landmark. The museum is fascinating, and I especially liked seeing the old guns and historic artifacts that help tell the story. The original building and the church area where people once hid felt very peaceful and almost holy, like stepping back in time. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, and the displays make it easy to understand what happened here. Definitely worth the visit!
Anas S — Google review
If you've never been and don't know much about it's history, you are in for a surprise. The famous chapel front isn't "The Alamo" per se. It's one surviving part of the fort that was towards the back of the original complex. Much of the original structure is gone but the rest is in what amounts to a very nice historical park in town. Very close to the Swan Antonio River Walk and other in-town attractions. There are also active archeology sites throughout that are interesting to view.

⭐️ A Must-See Piece of Texas History in Downtown San Antonio! I toured the legendary Alamo in the heart of downtown San Antonio, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. From the moment you walk in, the historic mission facade sets the tone for a truly immersive visit. Inside the grounds you’ll find detailed signs, original artifacts, cannons, statues, and monuments that bring the story of the 1836 battle to life. The entire place is extremely well-kept, clean, and easy to navigate. I especially enjoyed walking around the courtyard, the cavalry statues, and the restored fort walls — everything is designed to help you understand the history while still keeping a peaceful and respectful atmosphere. Entrance is smooth, staff are helpful, and the surrounding area is perfect for photos. If you’re visiting San Antonio, you simply can’t skip the Alamo. A powerful, educational, and inspiring stop. Highly recommended! 🇺🇸🤠

Remember The Alamo! The Alamo is central to understanding the story and identity of San Antonio and Texas. We experienced the "Victory or Death” audio tour which covers the site's 300-year history, from its origin as a Spanish mission to the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. The audio tour guides us through the Alamo Church, across the grounds, and includes other stops. The tour is available in multiple languages. The Alamo features both original cannons and historically accurate replicas that were used in the battle of 1836. A fully operational, fireable model of the 18-pounder cannon is among the most remarkable. We also witnessed the musket firing which is a 15-minute demonstration given by the Alamo Living History staff that includes a live firing from a flintlock firearm, the same kind of weapon used during the 1836 Battle. The gift shop has unique souvenir collections. This historic site is well-preserved and has sufficient information to understand the Texas revolution. We spent an entire day to explore this amazing piece of history.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Memorable Visit to The Alamo I absolutely loved my visit to The Alamo! From the moment I stepped onto the grounds, you could feel the history surrounding you. The staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable—every conversation added something meaningful to the experience. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and the exhibits were easy to explore at a comfortable pace. Seeing the iconic church up close and learning more about its role in Texas history made the visit even more impactful. If you’re visiting San Antonio, The Alamo is a must-see. It’s free, it’s fascinating, and it’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. Highly recommend!

Went on a Friday with a group of friends. The line had almost no wait. The staff working were very kind and knowledgeable. We did the free tour. But they have several different tiers of paid tours. I’d recommend coming out and checking out the spot. Lots of fun places to eat and drink and shop as well in the vicinity. River front area especially. Pay the parking though. My buddy got towed. Never forget the Alatow!!

Beautiful historic site in the heart of the city. The old church and grounds are well preserved, and the exhibits are clear and informative. A meaningful place to visit and learn Texas history.

An amazing historic site in the middle of San Antonio. Seems like they are restoring more buildings of the site that were present at various times. Very good audio visual content available even with the free ticket. The surrounding plaza with various shops, restaurants, activities, and a mall is quite nice.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
San Antonio Zoo is a sprawling 56-acre zoo located in an old limestone quarry on St Marys Street. It's home to over 9,000 animals from 779 species, including alligators and zebras. The zoo was one of the first in the country to be cageless, offering visitors a unique experience.
I absolutely adore this place and am so thrilled we have it right here in San Antonio! The animals are so well cared for, which is fantastic. I especially love the abundance of trees for shade and the “cool zones” where you can cool off under misting or an outdoor air conditioner. I wouldn’t splurge on the food here since it’s a bit pricey, so definitely come feed and walk it out! My husband and I snagged the yearly ticket. You can even enter for free after paying the one-time fee! It takes about an hour and 39 minutes to see the whole park, which is a great workout. You won’t even realize how many steps you’ve taken until you’re done! I’m also super excited because they might be adding gorillas this fall 2025! How cool is that?
David M — Google review
The San Antonio Zoo was pretty good and I liked how kid friendly it was. I feel that (especially in the summer time) the zoo could've been more abundantly staffed and you could tell how understaffed they were at certain parts of the park. I must say that we definitely underestimated the San Antonio sun the day we went (Temperatures reached 110°F 🥵🥵) and the heat I'm sure had a lot to do with a good amount of the animal exhibits being empty. I want to commend the Zoo on their butterfly exhibit because it was a highlight of our park experience and I love the conservation efforts and how well they protect and take care of the butterflies, they also do a great job educating every patron that comes in to visit the butterflies. The other big highlight of our Zoo experience was feeding the Giraffes! Very interactive and kids friendly. There was a bit of a line and the shade around the Giraffe's area is almost non-existent. So, I highly recommend bringing all the mist fans, sun hats, umbrellas, and sun-screen. My last gripe about the park has more to do with money than anything and that's their no personal water bottles/metal containers rule. You can't bring your own water or water for you kids because they want you to buy their $5 - 20oz Dasani water bottles. And that's just not good practice and not having the customer's best interests at hand with how much walking, lack if shade, and hear exposure there is. To the Zoo's credit there were some mist fan tents to help people cool down. I think we encountered 2-3 of them spanning the park. Lastly, the fish, reptiles, and big cats areas were great cool down areas and made the work more enjoyable.

Pretty solid size zoo with a bunch of different species of animals. They are missing some common ones like the elephant, but theres plenty of animals to see here. Theres a lot of great enclosures and some well themed areas. I also went on a dog day, which was fun seeing all the dogs react to the various animals. I would definitely recommend going earlier in the day because of the heat, and probably when the animals are most active.
Nick D — Google review
This is an awesome zoo to visit. The is is dually accredited by both the AZA and ZAA. The team was great and the exhibits looks good. I had visited in 2018 so it had been a while. I was able to get behind the scenes tour of the new gorilla section during construction as part of the ZAA conference in early October. The Ralston is a great event venue. As a photographer I find the San Antonio Zoo to be really friendly even as an amateur photographer. This is a must see when you are in town.
Lorenzo F — Google review
We went on a slow day, it was pretty hot. That said we were able to see pretty much everything they have and offer for purchase with not missing an animal! Kids loved it. And they have really good marks! Food there is eh... but who goes for that!? Great zoo over all! You can tell they take great care of the wild life they have.
TL W — Google review
We decided to go to San Antonio for the day and check out the San Antonio zoo. We were so disappointed it’s small. There’s no elephants the elephant had passed away and I think they were in the process of getting new elephants. There’s no gorilla the majority of the park are birds, we couldn’t feed the giraffes because we didn’t get there in time. It’s just a small zoo. It’s not as exciting as the big zoo Houston zoo is much much better so save your trip and do something else in San Antonio. Don’t go to the zoo. For $39 dollars I was expecting so much more. The stag is friendly!! And the park is serene.
OB1kanobe — Google review
It is much easier to go on line prior to visiting and get a pass or annual pass. The zoo was very clean. 90% of the animals were out and visible. I highly recommend morning or late afternoon for cooler visits on the hot days. We were very pleased with the amenities and the family had a great day.
Zina C — Google review
I've lost count on how many times we've gone. Maybe 3-4 times a year. We've had season passes the past 2-3 years. Hippos are still my favorite. Sad they lost a lion. Excited for gorillas and the new event center. Lots of good quick changes. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of fun, learning and walking. Criticism: Food is overpriced and underwhelming.

San Antonio Botanical Garden is a 38-acre scenic area featuring various collections and exhibit areas, including formal and seasonal display gardens such as the rose garden, sensory garden, water-saving garden, and Kumamoto En Japanese Garden. The Lucile Halsell Conservatory offers a futuristic experience with an underground tunnel leading to the Palm House. Visitors can also explore the 11-acre Texas Native Trail and enjoy guided tours, bird-watching walks, lectures, and other events.
I love to visit the botanical garden in every city that I travel to. This garden was lovely and I was thrilled that it opened to the public at 8am before it got super hot. Beautiful displays and lots of pet and kid-friendly areas. The children's vegetable garden was very impressive (up to age 17) and they were harvesting okra when we visited. The Master Gardeners were great and very welcoming. The garden also offers culinary classes in their culinary plant garden; if we were in town longer, we would definitely have attended one. The outdoor area for the classes is a great set-up. We got the San Antonio City Pass and used this as one of our options. Highly recommend.

Amazing botanical garden! I have been to several throughout the nation, and I really loved this one. It has such a unique blend of native plants as well as interactive exhibits for the family like a splash pad. The architecture and design was an unexpected plus. I wish I had gotten there earlier to enjoy more of it before it got too hot outside. Will definitely be back!

A beautiful and peaceful place to explore! The gardens are very well maintained, with a wonderful variety of plants, flowers, and landscapes. Every corner feels unique, from tropical greenery to desert plants and colorful blooms. It’s perfect for a relaxing walk, taking photos, or just enjoying nature. Staff is friendly, and everything is easy to navigate. Definitely a must-visit spot in San Antonio! 🌿🌸🌵

The San Antonio Botanical Garden is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit any time of year. The grounds are spotless, the exhibits are thoughtfully designed, and every area feels peaceful and inviting. I especially loved the mix of native Texas landscapes with tropical and desert gardens—it really shows the diversity of the region. The Conservatory is stunning, and the walking paths are easy to follow with plenty of shady spots to rest. The staff are friendly, and you can tell they take pride in maintaining the gardens. The café and gift shop are also great stops to relax before heading out. Whether you’re a local looking for a quiet escape or a visitor wanting a taste of Texas nature, this is one of San Antonio’s best spots for a morning or afternoon stroll. Highly recommend bringing your camera and a little extra time—there’s so much to see.
Andres T — Google review
These gardens are a lovely adventure! Once you find where to park and the actual ticket entrance, it is a beautiful whirlwind of plants and trails. The space is vast, but every section has something for everyone. There are Texas Native plant trails, specific plant areas, historic spaces, and greenhouses. You can spend hours at the gardens.

I think it’s probably better for kids than seniors giving the amount of walking and the activities being geared towards families. But there are some cool buildings to see and some beautiful landscapes. This wasn’t my top tourist attention but certainly worth a visit. You’re mostly outside so keep that in mind if you don’t want to be out in the heat.

I bought an annual membership and have visited twice in the early morning before the gardens open to the public. It is a wonderful way to getting walking exercise, connect with nature thru your eyes, ears, smells, and other senses. I love finding a bench to sit still and observe what is around me. The gardens change often so you can experience different things. The volunteers and staff greet you and offer information as you want or even share what they are doing or point you to areas you might be unaware of. I look forward to the special events and my regular visits.
Patricia P — Google review
This is a really great, and very large, botanical gardens. They currently have some kind of exhibit, maybe they light up at night for the holidays, of huge multicolored, soft sculptures of owls and butterflies etc. I found that to be a little bit distracting from the actual plantings. However, they have a lot of different types of gardens from Rose gardens to water friendly. It's totally worth the trip. If you're staying by the convention center, however, you should take an Uber there because it's about 4 miles away. It apparently is free Friday through Sunday, but if you go other days of the week for a regular adult it cost $18 to get in. They do have student discounts, which makes it $16 to get in. Just something to keep in mind if you are going to go. It is also quite confusing when you're walking around on all the paths, because they loop around and what you think might be going back to the entrance might actually be leaving further away. I did have a little bit of difficulty finding my way back out, but I just kept asking people until I could see the entrance area. I would say it, if you're going to go, that I would give yourself at least 2 to 3 hours to see the garden sufficiently.

The Tower of the Americas is a 750-ft. landmark in San Antonio, built for the 1968 world's fair and inspired by Seattle's Space Needle. It offers an observation deck with breathtaking views of the city and the Hill Country, as well as close-up perspectives of historic neighborhoods like King William and La Villita. The tower also features a revolving eatery, a stationary bar, and a 4D adventure ride.
If you make reservations in advance, you won’t have to wait. We loved our dinner here! The service was amazing despite it being busy. The restaurant itself is beautiful and we went for sunset so the views were great. Our food was lovely as well! We got the Calamari, arugula salad, quail, seafood pasta, and the brownie sundae!

Went on a Sunday morning. Not all the amenities were open but it was quiet and we almost had the upper deck to ourselves. Staff were really friendly and nice. The views were amazing. You can see all of the City, The Astrodome and the Álamo. Outside was pretty windy but it still felt pretty safe. We also seen they have a really cool bar area on the way down. I’d like to go back for a drink. We bought the photos they took of us before going up. $35 for that which seemed ok as the guy did a good job. Good experience!

Grey place to eat. Costly but totally worth it. It was not spinning the night we went but still enjoyed the time there. Will definitely go back. Probably around Christmas time. Oh, get your Groupon pass for this. Well worth it. No hassle whatsoever.

Great experience! I had seafood, risotto with a glass carajillo, delicious! The restaurant is at the top of the tower with amazing night views. Perfect spot for couples or a fun but quiet night out. There’s also a museum inside, you need a ticket for that but the restaurant and bar are free to access. Highly recommend!
Anas S — Google review
Came in on a Sunday evening and it was relatively not busy. We did the observatory side. But they have a bar dining side as well. It’s 20 dollars a person. Includes the ride to the top as well as a 4d entertainment move. Everything was fun and the views were very nice. Would recommend coming and giving this place a look!
Trent W — Google review
Nice views up the top. I would probably wait till dusk so you get both views with and without the sun. The ground level around the tower is also quite beautiful with large flowing water down several large pools of water, something quite peaceful and beautiful about the way they've landscaped it there.
Sventek — Google review
Magnificent view specially if you go at night. People get confused with the $19.50 which is for the observatory only, if you go to the restaurant just make a free reservation online. To be honest, you don't need to pay 19.50 to enjoy the view, sitting in this beautiful restaurant's table you can appreciate the impressive view.

Bliss, a stylishly restored former filling station in Southtown, San Antonio, offers inspired New American fare and an extensive selection of wine and beer. Chef Mark Bliss navigated the challenges of the pandemic to emerge stronger, with a menu that continues to impress a decade after its debut. The restaurant's intimate dining space accommodates up to 52 patrons and features unique dining experiences such as an authentic chef's table nestled within the kitchen.
Service was remarkable. Our server Lico was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Food was delicious. Smaller portions (think fine dining). The oyster sliders were incredible for an appetizer. The octopus was the best octopus I've ever had. The Pork and Beans as an entree special was the star of the show and the butter cake for dessert was out of this world. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely impeccable experience. Hands down one of the best restaurants in San Antonio. The service was phenomenal, and everything we tasted was a 10/10 – the beet salad, shared ribeye, corn fritters, and cheesecake. Every bite felt thoughtful and elevated. The whole night felt like a Michelin-level experience. They made our anniversary feel truly special – couldn’t have asked for better.

This restaurant has a special place in my heart ❤️ With private parking space, beautiful indoor and outdoor seating and excellent service, Bliss is one of my favorite restaurants for a romantic dinner in San Antonio. The menu is small but with enough options for an unforgettable dinner and their wine selection is extraordinary. I went for my dinner and it was an excellent birthday experience! Everyone loved their food and we got excellent service. You will never go wrong with Bliss restaurant, check out what we ordered!

Such a lovely hidden gem in Southtown - so hidden that I’ve frequented the area for years and just found out about this spot hah! I am so glad I did too. This is a small, intimate dining atmosphere with modern interior and a curated menu that caters to seafood and elegantly crafted delights. I enjoyed everything I ate (they offered to change the amount of food in the starters so I could try a few of them!)

I have been in Texas 6 weeks and this is the best meal I have had yet. Octopus and bone broth appetizers were great. Duck was almost perfect, short rib was great...only the redfish was too salty. Peach cake for dessert was also very good.

Bliss is always my first stop when visiting San Antonio and has never let me down. Service is always warm and professional but last night, in particular, was superb. If you've never had a takeji dessert wine this is a great place to try it! Mine paired wonderfully with the chocolate dessert.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of dining at Bliss for the first time on 5/8/25, and we were thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service and exquisite cuisine. Our server, Candace, was professional, knowledgeable and lovely, ensured that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. We began with appetizers, including sashimi tostados and oyster sliders. The sashimi was remarkably fresh, with a delightful crunch, while the sliders featured a delicate biscuit and a fried oyster, which was an unexpected yet delicious twist. The beet salad was truly the pièce de résistance, with firm, sweet beets, acidic orange, walnut, and freshly ground pepper, all combining to create a dish that was nothing short of perfection! For our entrees, we opted for short ribs and a combination of red fish with parmesan polenta, as recommended by Candace. The short ribs were succulent, with bursting flavors, while the fish was moist, balanced, and featured a crispy skin that rivaled crackling bacon! We concluded our evening with a warm cup of coffee and a 20-year-old tawny port. Bliss has consistently demonstrated exceptional culinary expertise, and our experience was a testament to their enduring excellence. Thank you for being the "cherry on top" of our trip to San Antonio.

We had dinner at Bliss the other night, It was a weekday but the restaurant was still packed - which was a good sign. Our server was Lia. Lia did an outstanding job. We had looked at the menu online and we were pretty sure what we wanted to get, but Lia recommended the New York Strip. So, I go the New York Strip and the wife got the Redfish. The Redfish was very well prepared and definitely a do-over. The New York Strip was absolutely amazing. I do not say this lightly - it was probably the best steak I have enjoyed in my whole life. It was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and perfectly presented. The steak sauce was pretty darn amazing also. All in all, it was an amazing meal with amazing service. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a nice dinner for two (or more) in a relaxed atmosphere with great food and great service!

Fine dining restaurant
Mixtli is a modern restaurant that offers changing regional Mexican tasting menus with drink pairings. The restaurant underwent a significant transformation during the pandemic, relocating to a larger space in Southtown with expanded capacity and added features like a cocktail bar. Despite the change, Mixtli maintains its meticulous attention to detail and creative presentation. The quarterly menu showcases the history and flavors of a specific region in Mexico through an animated 10-course prix fixe experience.
Highly recommend trying at least once! We started the night at their bar since we were a bit early for our reservation. They were super busy, but were able to give us personalized recommendations based off of our drink preferences. We were pleasantly surprised to find that all drinks were incredible, and so different! We tried their margarita, old fashioned, and a few others that were rich and flavorful. We were there celebrating my husband's academic achievements, and the restaurant made sure to celebrate him with complimentary champagne which was very sweet. We were thrilled to find that the food lived up to the hype, each dish somehow more unique and surprising in the best way than the last. The service was top notch, and we enjoyed the story telling for each dish by the staff and chefs throughout the dining experience. Two members of our group had a gluten allergy, and the restaurant was very kind and accomodating, making sure their dishes were prepared separately and that there was no risk of cross contamination, which we were super grateful for. We had a wonderful experience and hope to be back again soon for their new menu!

My husband and I had a 10/10 experience celebrating our anniversary at this incredible restaurant. The service was impeccable our servers were kind, attentive, and genuinely courteous. The chefs went above and beyond, not only crafting beautiful dishes but also taking the time to describe each dish and the inspiration behind it. While the portions may seem small at first glance, believe me you’ll be completely satisfied by the end of the meal. If you’re considering making a reservation, don’t hesitate. This restaurant has truly earned a permanent spot in our memories.

Exceptional dining experience. Each dish was thoughtfully themed around Mexican history and locality, delivering not just incredible flavour but storytelling on the plate. We’ve dined at many Michelin-starred restaurants including L’Enclume, and Mixtli easily stands among them. The team provided flawless service and adapted the tasting menu beautifully for my wife’s lactose intolerance without compromising quality. Inventive, elegant, and truly memorable.

Do yourself a favor and eat here before you die. This has been on our bucket list for years and we finally had the privilege to go. You buy tickets online and have the option for cocktail and wine pairings to add to your order. We chose the cocktail pairing and every drink was phenomenal. They even accommodated for my strawberry allergy. Kisha was AMAZING. She was so personable, sweet and funny. Everyone is so kind and takes the time to explain the history, the ingredients and the pairings of each dish. We will definitely be back for the next menu

My wife and I made a goal to try to go to all of the Michelin star restaurants in Texas. We made it through all the ones in Austin and finally came down here to San Antonio. We ate there during the Pacific coast menu and it was amazing. . Food and the service and the atmosphere are definitely worth the price. Keisha was our host and she was a joy to talk to and meet. It’s my favorite thing has strong flavors that all complemented each other perfectly. My wife had a standard wine pairing and was more than pleased.

I booked for my husbands birthday. We went for the Mexican Pacific menu. Most of the dishes were great. A couple were salty and lacked luster. We would definitely go back for another special occasion. The Michoacan was very salty. And I had to get a vegetarian option for the Sinaola, it was Daikon and carrot wrapped in seaweed- worst combination ever, and was so bland.

One of the most unique dining experiences we've ever had. Every dish was served by a chef and presented with a story of its origin. Every dish and drink was incredible. The combined presentation and hospitality is among the best we've ever experienced. This is likely a top 3 dining experience we've ever had.

I’ve been fortunate to be able to eat at so many great restaurants throughout my life but Mixtli was the best overall experience I’ve ever had! Everyone in staff was so wonderful and the stories behind each dish and each cocktail is incredible! The lady who was in charge of the wine was especially great with perfect wine pairings from the reserve pairing option. My wife is a vegetarian but every single course was created for her so that it was essentially the same as mine but with a substitution for the meat which was special because we were able to essentially experience the same thing which is unheard of! This is a must visit restaurant because it’s a once in a lifetime experience that couldn’t be done better in any way!! Thank you for such a wonderful evening!!

Located in a historic space, Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery is a popular eatery that offers Texas cuisine and houses a second-story microbrewery. The restaurant features an outdoor oyster bar serving Gulf and East Coast oysters, including varieties from Prince Edward Island and Massachusetts. With a farm-to-table menu that changes based on seasonal produce and whole animal usage, the restaurant serves up hearty coastal dishes influenced by southern states.
We stopped here on a Monday afternoon (yesterday) for a late lunch with 20 people. They were so accommodating (even though we were road tripping, looked like it, and had several children with us). Our server was amazing. So kind, so enthusiastic, truly loved her job and it showed. Every single foot item we ordered was amazing. All of our drinks were delicious. Food we ate Fried chicken & biscuits Cracker crusted redfish Fish sandwich Pork chop Snapper jaws Cornbread Texas trio oysters Brussels Broccolini Crab Mac & cheese Cesar salad 10/10 highly recommend. We will be back. Thank you for an amazing lunch.

My Second Michelin Star Experience: Met All Expectations! I recently had my second Michelin-starred restaurant experience, and it absolutely met all my expectations. The restaurant's atmosphere was quite distinctive and impressive; you immediately feel special inside. The high standard was maintained in the service as well. Our waiter was extremely attentive and cheerful, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. One often assumes that portions at Michelin restaurants are small, but that was not the case here. The food portions were adequate and quite satisfying. Most importantly, the flavours were truly spot on. Every single plate reflected the quality of the ingredients and the care put into the cuisine. In short, it was an unforgettable experience and worth every

First meal in San Antonio - had a hazy IPA to start which was really good. The food was kind of standard but not bad. Our favorite was the Snapper Throats - the fish was tender and perfectly crispy on the outside. Overall, a decent first meal. Vibe is fun and love the brewery decor. Service was excellent!

Had a good time here for lunch on a Friday. Our server was friendly and provided great recommendations. We had the cornbread, a salad with fried chicken and the fried chicken plate. The cornbread was soft but a bit too crumbly - couldnt pick it up. The salad’s freshness and flavor paired perfectly with the chicken and the fried chicken was super juicy. Wish it had a better crunch, but overall tasted good!

Everything (food, atmosphere, and ambience) looks great. Michelin recommends, but I wouldn’t. Early brunch service (11:15) Coffee took a few minutes. Service was quite slow for brunch. One of our two plates was served ‘warm’ not hot. Scrambled eggs served unseasoned. (No salt or pepper was offered, none on any tables) Biscuits LOOK amazing, had to ask, and wait for cold butter to put on cold biscuits. Bone in Fried chicken was good, waffle was average… 1/2 way through the chicken and the waffle was a soggy smushed mess. We saw two other tables send food back during our hour and thirty brunch. Noise levels for me (with hearing aids) was harsh.

Great little place in the Pearl! Service left something to be desired the day we visited, but food was tasty. Would go back again for brunch. Fried green tomatoes were delicious. The only thing we found odd was that they served us a fried leg quarter with the waffle instead of a chicken breast. Weird. But the chicken sandwich was good and the fresh squeezed OJ hit the spot.

We had the pork chop, crab bisque, cornbread and old fashions. Corn bread was a little burned but they replaced it with another. Bisque was great though a little salty. Pork was tender, German potato salad good. Service was good, waited about 20 minutes for table, but lots to see as we walked around the Pearl. Inside and outside seating, both a little noisy. Fun decor.

Charcuterie
Cured is a popular restaurant in the heart of the Pearl District, known for its rustic-chic ambiance and focus on charcuterie-style New American cuisine. Chef and owner Steve McHugh's consistent recognition by the James Beard Awards reflects the quality of the restaurant he established in 2013. The gold-framed curing case at Cured holds the secret to their renowned charcuterie boards, featuring a variety of meats and housemade jams and pickles.
Incredible food, wonderful staff, and great atmosphere. We were in town for our anniversary and met the curator Steve during the farmers market. We had a great chat and got a signed copy of his book Cured. We made reservations for dinner and it did not disappoint. Hunter was our waiter and did an outstanding job. We pretty much let him curate our meal for us and we just sat back and enjoyed ourselves. I have nothing but great things to say. To top it off, Steve stopped by to wish us a happy anniversary and check in on us. 10 out of 10

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My wife and I have traveled and dined around the globe, and Cured in San Antonio is truly in a class of its own. From the moment we arrived, the professionalism and genuine warmth of the entire team—sommelier, server, and even the chef/owner—set the tone for an extraordinary evening. We sat at the Chef’s Table, where every course showcased not only world-class technique but also an inspiring respect for ingredients. The flavors were bold yet balanced, with each dish telling a story. The wine pairings weren’t just “good matches”—they were thoughtful, unique, and elevated the food to an entirely new level. This wasn’t just dinner, it was a masterclass in hospitality and culinary craft. Cured delivered an experience that rivals Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve visited abroad. Without question, it’s one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had, anywhere.

This is our favorite restaurant/bar in our first visit in San Antonio. We came here for happy hour and were only going to have a couple of drinks before our Valentine’s dinner elsewhere. We enjoyed the charcuterie board (smoked dock ham, Tejano pork, beef, pork rillettes and cheeses) so much that we keep ordering drinks and almost missed our dinner reservation. At the end of the day, our food and drinks at Cured were better than our actual Valentine’s dinner reservation.

Excellent meat, warm and cold. 10/10. Very nice cozy place. Good service definitely recommended. Eat the whole cold meat menu:)

Cured has a great happy hour!! We love the quail legs (please bring them back!!), blue ribbon burger, and trying their creative new menu items. They also have the crème de la crème of charcuterie boards. A must try in the pearl - especially for the daily happy hour!

Very interesting place to have brunch. I would love to go again! The menu changes, and offers new meats, cheeses, sauces, and veggies. I tried everything you see in the picture and mixed some stuff together. I enjoyed everything on the charcuterie board. If you like trying new foods this is your place. Everything is in small portions but it’s plenty for two to share maybe more. The empanadas were soooo good, and that’s coming from someone who has never really liked them. The sauce that comes with it tastes amazing, and the combo of both is just right. It located in the middle of the pearl. Not much interaction from the staff, but was attended to well.

We arrived at about 4 pm on a Friday. We ordered from the appetizer and drink happy hour menu. There were decent options. We had the quail legs, hamburger, and fries. The fries were the best. My drink was too sweet, but I'm glad I tried it. Our waiter kept picking up our dishes before we finished eating. I would go again but only during happy hour.

Clementine is a vibrant restaurant located in a strip mall in northwestern San Antonio. The bright and stylish interior features food art, an open kitchen, and offers the 'Feed' option for lunch and dinner. This option allows the chef to create a customized four- or five-course menu for your table, taking the stress out of choosing from their inventive Southern-influenced and seasonally based courses.
Clementine is one of the best restaurants in San Antonio. A small and intimate restaurant committed to culinary innovation and customer satisfaction; whether it's Chef John personally greeting guests, the wait staff pulling strings to get off-menu items, or the host doing everything possible to seat customers who arrive without reservations. Be adventurous when ordering as you'll likely experience new flavors and innovative food combinations that will delight your palate. Highlights include roasted blackjack oysters, all their fresh pastas, flat iron steak, tropical pavlova, and clementine crunch bar. So good I visited twice in a week.

Flavor: A Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: B The “Feed Me” dinner is the only way to go, especially for your first time. But I don’t know how you would choose something else after you’ve had it. You’d surely leave a little empty inside. (Belly and soul.) It’s a unique dining experience where variety abounds in the multitude of courses. I personally thought that the salads and pastas were the stars of the show. The protein/entree was underwhelming and not on par with the rest of the meal. I could drink the blueberry tea by the gallon. The service is what you would expect at a fine dining establishment, and Clementine is the special blend of relaxed and casual fine dining. Treat yourself to the “Feed Me” when you’re up for a rainbow of flavors in a mystery of a meal that comes together strong.

It’s hard because while the service is on point and the food is good, it definitely embodies that fine dining feel. The food lacks that last little wow factor. I rate this harder since it’s fine dining and closer to my heart as a foodie. But otherwise food is great. Just on the world stage it pales badly

Everything at Clementine was excellent and on point…food, service, and ambience. We got the Feed Me prix fixe menu for $88. It had six courses, including dessert, plus some lagniappe. Well worth the cost. This menu changes daily. Our server, Jason, was friendly, and quite knowledgeable. All staff seemed to be well trained. The restaurant is at the end of a strip center and has indoor and outdoor seating. It has a cute, chic, lively atmosphere. I highly recommend a visit to Clementine. Also, reservations are a good idea. It got busy very quickly.

Last night in San Antonio, my wife and I decided to venture off the beaten path and try something different from the usual Mexican, BBQ, or Italian spots. We came across Clementine, and while our experience wasn’t perfect, it was certainly memorable. The restaurant offers a unique take on a multi-course meal, with a "Feed Me" option that features six carefully curated courses. Our server, Braden, was fantastic—attentive, knowledgeable, and transparent about the process. The price was $88 per person, which is on the higher end, but we appreciated the craftsmanship behind the experience. Each course arrived plated beautifully, but the portions felt quite small—more like tasting plates than full meals—especially for two people sharing. The courses were spaced out with about 15 minutes between each, which was manageable, but the small sizes left us feeling hungry by the end. We also ordered a bottle of $90 wine, which we knew could be found locally for less, but we understood the markup in the restaurant setting. I spoke to Braden about the value, mentioning that two of us were paying $176 total for what seemed to be limited portions. He explained that this is the style of the restaurant, and he kindly offered to bring out additional courses at no extra charge, which was a generous gesture that we appreciated. We supplemented the meal with some bread—modest but fine—and I did suggest that perhaps future visits could include two main courses instead of sharing one, as the halibut was particularly small for two people. Would I return? Definitely. Next time, I plan to order from the menu and compare portion sizes, but overall, Clementine offers a refined, creative dining experience worth exploring. Just be prepared for smaller servings and a leisurely pace—perfect for savoring the culinary artistry. Attached are photos, and please note that although the servings look large, they are not. Photos can be deceiving.

This place is amazing…. Super easy to make a reservation on open table… was greeted immediately by the host…. Had the oysters and the tart to start off then they brought out the mackerel dish and the steak dish… the waitress was super attentive and we enjoyed all of her recommendations …. Oh and the dessert was out of this world…. You have to try it!

Okay, I get it! I have been trying to eat at Clementine for quite some time. It’s such great food. I highly recommend the tasting menu. They give you an amazing variety of food. The pasta dishes are my favorite. I still think about it today. The menu is quite seasonal, which makes it so fresh and unique. They combine flavors I’ve never quite had before. It’s a great dinner spot.

The food was probably the best upscale restaurant food that I've had in San Antonio. This restaurant is worthy of its #2 ranking in the San Antonio Express. The sauces were excellent and paired well with the food. I went on their monthly Friday Prix Fixe lunch and it was well worth the $59 pp price. Will be going there regularly. However, there are two things that I wish Clementine will improve on. 1) The descriptions in the menu. The names and descriptions in the menu do not do the food justice nor is it even accurate. I think the names and descriptions in the Friday lunch I had were more enticing than their regular menu. I cannot imagine that their regular dinner menu is not better, but their names and descriptions don't make them seem like it. 2) I understand that this is not a Michelin Star restaurant but with this caliber of food, why not? In that vein, while the waiter was super nice, I wish he would have described and explained the food. We got our dishes and there was no explanation, especially in light of the inadequate menu descriptions. There was one dish where after I finished the food, I then realized that the sauce drizzled around the plate was different from what was on the food. The colors were similar so it was not obvious that they were not the same. So, I ate it thinking that it was a little bland, but after eating, I happened to takes the drizzled sauce to see what the sauce was and was shocked to see that it was a different sauce and the food would have been MUCH better, had the waiter told me how to eat the dish and had I applied more sauce to the food. It was disappointing because I felt that I missed enjoying the wonderful dish the way the chef intended. There were other dishes that I wish the waiter explained the different parts of the dish and how to eat it.
