Saint Louis

St. Louis is a major city in Missouri along the Mississippi River. Its iconic, 630-ft. Gateway Arch, built in the 1960s, honors the early 19th-century explorations of Lewis and Clark and America's westward expansion in general. Replica paddlewheelers ply the river, offering views of the arch. The Soulard district is home to barbecue restaurants and clubs playing blues music.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
The Saint Louis Zoo, originally the 1904 World's Fair Flight Cage, is now a renowned 90-acre zoo within Forest Park. It houses over 14,000 animals across six different zones. Visitors can explore 'Rivers Edge' to see elephants and hippos or 'The Wild' for bears and primates. The zoo also features historic attractions like the original Flight Cage and Primate House from the World's Fair era.
The zoo was great! Can see the animals are well cared for. The enclosures are clean and well maintained. The Penguins were definitely the highlight...we caught it when they had the bubble machine going so the penguins were going around trying to pop them. It was such a fun experience! I love how each of the enclosures are so considerate to give you a clear and as close proximity in a safe manner for you and the animals.

We are from out of town— this Zoo is absolutely beautiful! Our son really enjoyed getting to see insects he doesn’t typically see at ours. Huge praying mantis, ginormous walking sticks, leaf bugs, it was a fun time! It was odd for us to pay for parking and enjoy the zoo with FREE admission since our local zoo is not that way. This zoo is big— so wear supportive shoes! St. Louis, you have a beautiful zoo with tons of neat animals, insects, reptiles, and amphibians!
Hali T — Google review
Had a couple of hours to explore so the was great. Well laid out and the animals were relaxed. Great to see everyone enjoying. Quite a bit of walking so get good shoes but you can also ride the paid trolley.
Jude A — Google review
I was absolutely shocked how beautiful this FREE zoo is! Clean grounds, kind keepers, happy, healthy animals. Large and natural feeling enclosures. The bird building and enclosures were AMAZING. They just had these simple strings to keeps the birds contained but was easy to see though. Live plants filled the habitats. Photos do not do it justice. Definitely would visit again (from NY) -love a fellow zookeeper

Stopped by quick, primarily to see the elephants, which my local zoo doesn't have. I was impressed by the cleanliness and amount of animals for a free zoo. My local zoo is quite pricey and I'd say this one is equal, if not better. I loved seeing the elephants. Will be back if I'm in the area. Would definitely recommend! See photos for a pooping baby elephant 😂

One of the most spectacular zoos that I’ve ever taken my kids to! We’ve had a wonderful time it was very clean. Well taken care of the staff highly trained and very knowledgeable about all of the animals. We had questions about our. The foods were really good prices definitely wanna get there right when they open in summertime for sure we didn’t get to see all of the animals. Some of them weren’t out, but all around was a wonderful time. There took about five hours to see the whole zoo well worth the time. Highly recommend bringing your family to the zoo. Hope y’all enjoy the photos as we enjoy the zoo.
Joey S — Google review
The place was super cool, me and my two friends went for about 4 hours, that’s about how long it took us to walk thru the whole zoo. Everyone was nice and honestly I don’t have any complaints. The food in the cafe in the north entrance was pretty good surprisingly. Some of the animals they had put away unfortunately but they still had a lot out so it was totally worth it. And the best part is really any age group can come here. We are 18-21 and it was still fun for us.
Caden D — Google review
We met our 10 kids and 3 grand kids here. We had an amazing day. The zoo is free and everyone had something to see. This will be a memory we will always remember. To see more of our adventure at the Saint Louis Zoo tune into RV PLUS 10™️ on RoKu and Apple TV.

City park
Nature & Parks
Forest Park, established in 1876, spans over 1,300 acres and is located between the neighborhoods of Clayton and the Central West End. The park offers a variety of attractions including museums, a zoo, athletic fields, and golf courses. Visitors can explore verdant hills, woodland walks, sculpture gardens like Turtle Park, and picnic on Picnic Island. The park also features waterways such as the River des Peres with fountains and water features like the Cascades.
Forest Park is hands down one of the best spots in St. Louis! It’s huge, beautiful, and has something for everyone , walking trails, lakes, museums, golf, and so many peaceful spots to just relax. You can spend hours here and still find something new every time. Whether you’re biking, picnicking, or just catching a sunset by the water, the views are always stunning. Plus, it’s super clean and well-kept. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in STL, it’s the heart of the city for a reason!

This is a beautiful park at St Louis. Has a great walking path. Also has a large water area, where people were paddle boating. Well maintained lawn throughout to sit and relax. Would def recommend this place if you are looking for a place to relax. It also has lots of benches in shade.
Nidhi K — Google review
Wonderfully peaceful and beautiful. Foliage shows what autumn is as it transition to winter. Sounds of birds heralding the passing of summer, wind slowly whistling through the trees helping it to shed and prepare for its winter’s coat. If your eyes are sharp enough, you may even catch sight of squirrels hurriedly collecting the last harvest before winter’s breathe arrive.
Kah W — Google review
What a great place to spend the day! Did a 10K walk on a Sunday! Plenty of tracks, availability of restrooms and water points around the park! a lot of free attractions such as Museum and Zoo! ! It is definitely worth the visit !

Great paths for walking a truly lovely park. The damage from the recent tornado was evident, but not catastrophic. The park and the vast majority of its trees persist. Lovely fall colors this time of year.

My daughter brought me to the Paek and showed me all the activities available. We didn't get to really do anything this time but loved that the Zoo, Tennis courts and Museum thay I didn't realize existed there. Can't wait to go back

This is am incredible place to go. Leave several days to explore everything. Already planning a return trip. The at museum is fantastic, the zoo gorgeous, and the history of it all worth the world fair of 1904 makes this park a treasure.

Museum
Performing arts group
City Museum is a one-of-a-kind attraction that combines art installation, playground, and discovery center all in one. Housed in a massive 600,000 square-foot former shoe company building, this museum is the result of local artists' creativity and resourcefulness. It features an array of found objects such as old chimneys, salvaged bridges, construction cranes, miles of tile, and even abandoned airplanes.
This is the best museum I've ever been to! Words can't describe what it truly is. There had to been over 50 slides easily. Even an 8 story slide!! Awesome fun for kids and adults. Pinball hall was nostalgic. Lots of crazy art and sculptures everywhere. Food places throughout. We didn't pay extra for the roof experience and I'm glad we didn't because we couldn't even finish the entire inside in about 4 hours. Definitely plan a whole day here. It really is a one of a kind experience. If you come to St. Louis do not pass this up. There is something for everyone.
Sean M — Google review
100% worth the money and the trip. Up to you if you pay the extra to go to the rooftop, its cool but so much to do on the other 4 floors even without it! My niece and nephew had a blast. I do advise packing some headlamp lights if you have them from camping (if I would have known i would have brought our from home -Indy) Im a bigger women 280s and couldn't fit everywhere but plenty of places to explore with the kids and had a blast and adventure with them. We would go back again and again. For the price, I bought the yearly pass (came with 2 extra tickets for this year - covered all 4 of us) for the kids and we hope to come back and will just have to pay for 2 tickets if we make it back.
Teoda T — Google review
What a neat museum! The kids LOVED climbing and crawling through the numerous tunnels. We paid to go onto the roof but didn't think that was necessarily worth the extra cost based on our interests. Some of the climbing tunnels were tricky for my 11 year old because he's getting so tall and his feet are too big to fit in some of the spaces for better footing. He still had a blast though. You could easily spend a whole day here. We got flatbread pizza and it was delicious! The flesh eating fish were a favorite for my family. The floor with the vault room had a nasty smell that made us rush to another area but other than that we really enjoyed our visit.
Mindy H — Google review
This was one of the coolest attractions we’ve ever been to! Our group was all adults age 28-50. So some of the more athletic elements were more challenging (and maybe we could have worn kneepads and better shoes…) we thought the rooftop, especially at sunset was well worth the upgrade. We got drinks and enjoyed the sunset from the roof. We did as much of the climbing around as we could! But it was nice that there was often left arduous options for those who wanted to participate but not exactly crawl and climb through tight passages. The pinball hall was also awesome!!! We could’ve spent hours there If you’re of drinking age, highly recommend finding the full service bar that’s tucked away on the first floor!
Aileen M — Google review
My kids 6 & 8 loved City Museum!! My 6 year old is a big climber and she was in heaven! Nearly every floor had a unique climbing opportunity for her. The caves, treehouse, and Monstro-City were the biggest hits with our crew. My 8 year old loved the tunnels on the first floor. He had a great time squeezing into small spaces and seeing where he came out. We spent 7 hours and did everything except the new Labyrinth area. It is definitely a full day activity. If we lived here, we would be back often! Knee pads were a great suggestion. Our only issue was the 2nd floor restaurant got behind at lunchtime and we had to wait 30min for our food. The restaurant staff was struggling and their attitude did not reflect good customer service.
Jennifer S — Google review
A Surreal Playground for Grown-Ups (Kids Allowed😉) City Museum is one of those places that makes you stop mid-crawl and think, “This should not exist… and yet it does.” I learned that the hard way when I got myself wedged into one of their tiny funnel tunnels — 5-year-old spirit, 52-year-old body, 52-centimeter hole. Hysterical, humbling, unforgettable. The rooftop is absolutely worth the extra charge. Between the skyline views, the full-sized bus dangling over the edge, and a Ferris wheel in the clouds, it feels like you’re inside someone’s beautifully unhinged dream. Despite looking like a children’s playground, this place is really an adult playground where kids are welcome. Millennial and Gen-X nostalgia runs wild. Think Willy Wonka + the Haunted Mansion + Meramec Caverns. My most transported moment? The insectarium turned into a haunted maze for Halloween weekend — no scare actors, just pure eerie atmosphere that hit me right in the childhood. The whole museum made me laugh, climb, crawl, tense up, and grin like I hadn’t in years. If City Museum were a feeling, it’d be straight-up euphoria. I’ll be back — with a whole crew.
Chad E — Google review
100/10 by far the best most amazing place we have ever visited. There was soooo much to do and see and discover. It was a mind blowing experience and was worth way more than what we paid for it. Is extremely kid friendly and I would even say your kids could and will get lost in the tunnels. Is so worth it though. There is an entire cave system and plenty to climb on and through. A free circus show was included as well. Highly recommend!!!
Paradise W — Google review
Wow! This place is absolutely mind blowing! Never seen anything like it!! Would love to go again! Heads up they are card only throughout the building but they have machines where you can turn cash into a visa card that can be used anywhere. I read reviews before coming so I was mentally prepared for some craziness and it absolutely was. You will immediately lose your child but they'll have an absolute blast! The sooner you accept this the more fun everyone can have. Have a plan for how to find each other or where to meet. They also provide a spot for your phone number on the wrist bands, absolutely fill it out. I brought my 9 yo and 3 month old. It's possible to get around with a stroller but slightly tight and complicated in certain areas. The elevators tend to be pretty busy. A small umbrella stroller would have worked out better then a large jogging stroller etc. There are plenty of bars with great drink options throughout the building, have one (or a few)! This place is absolutely sensory overload but we're creating core memories here! There's also a few food and snacks options but I recommend bringing snacks, you will be here a long time if you want to see/do it all (or most of it). We spent about 7 hours there! Have your kiddos bring a flash light for crawling through the caves indoors if they are afraid of the dark. They also sell cute little head lamps in the gift shop. Highly recommend paying the extra amount for the roof top playground area the view is absolutely amazing and it feels like more of a laid back vibe up there for when the inside becomes too much. The sunset from the top of the building is stunning. Amazing views. If you have kiddos that scare easy I recommend waiting till after their Halloween festivities are over. The decor is a little on the creepy side for little or more sensative kids. My kiddo wanted to avoid the whole third floor after walking through and seeing the Halloween decor there. Overall had an amazing time and my kiddo and myself both left hoping to come back again sometime!

Monument
Sights & Landmarks
The Gateway Arch stands as a monumental tribute to the expansion of the American West, soaring 630 feet into the sky. A visit to this iconic landmark is not complete without ascending to its apex, where breathtaking views of St. Louis and the Mississippi River await. The enclosed tram ride offers a unique journey to the Observation Deck, providing panoramic vistas that stretch up to 30 miles in all directions on clear days.
The Museum at the Gateway Arch is fantastic. I absolutely loved it. It is super cool, very clean, well put together, and overall a wonderful experience. It had been a while since I had gone to the top, and the whole experience is completely different now. The museum does an excellent job of walking you through the competition for the design, the history, and the unbelievable engineering that went into creating the Arch. You walk away with a new appreciation for how this iconic monument was even possible. The ride to the top is about three minutes. I am claustrophobic myself, but it was absolutely doable, and so worth it. Once you’re up there and looking out those windows, you understand immediately why people line up to do it. The Arch is an architectural marvel, and this museum helps you grasp just how incredible it really is. I highly recommend visiting. I will make it a point to come back every time I’m in Saint Louis.
Clinton W — Google review
The museum was very educational and informative and enjoyable. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the displays were laid out well. The tram ride to the top of the Arch was a unique experience too (not for the claustrophobic for sure). The time at the top is just about right, you take pictures out both sides (although the Illinois view is a bit bland). The tram ride down is a bit quicker and then you climb the stairs and head out right at the base the Arch for more pictures.
Sasnak 6 — Google review
The Gateway Arch is an architectural wonder and true marvel—absolutely breathtaking up close. The way the sunlight glints off its sleek, curved metal exterior is stunning, and those tiny observation windows near the top are barely visible from the ground, adding to its mystery and beauty. Once inside, the tram ride to the top is a one-of-a-kind experience. The small, capsule-like pods are definitely close quarters—so if you're claustrophobic or afraid of heights, it may be a challenge. That said, I found it comforting that there are windows in the tram doors, and I could see the emergency staircase the entire way up. The motion of ascending and curving over with the structure was unlike anything I’ve ever done. At the top—wow. The observation area is smaller than I expected, and yes, you can feel a gentle sway. But that only added to the thrill! We were lucky to visit on a clear, sunny day, and the views were absolutely spectacular—panoramic scenes of St. Louis and the Mississippi River. Afterward, we relaxed on the lawn beneath the Arch, looking up in awe and snapping some of our favorite photos of the day. Truly an unforgettable experience!
SR — Google review
We decided to check out the St. Louis Arch and went all the way to the top. The ride up is definitely an experience — you’re crammed into a small capsule with 4 or 5 other people and there’s absolutely no view on the way up. If you’re claustrophobic, I wouldn’t recommend it. Once at the top, you get about 10–14 minutes to look around. Honestly, that’s all you need — the view is nice, but it’s a quick visit. The area below ground was actually more interesting to me. There’s a museum with a lot of history and facts about the arch and the area. One important thing to note: St. Louis outside the downtown/tourist area can feel very rough. We accidentally took a wrong exit and ended up in a not-so-great neighborhood — and that’s coming from someone who grew up in a tough city. Stick to the main paths, and plan your route carefully. Overall, worth doing once for the experience, but be prepared and know what to expect.
Angelina R — Google review
Visiting the Gateway Arch was an amazing experience and a true highlight of my trip. The monument itself is stunning—pictures don’t do justice to how impressive it feels when you’re standing right beneath it. The museum at the base is also well done, offering a great look at the history and engineering behind the Arch. The tram ride to the top was a unique and memorable part of the visit. It’s a bit quirky and retro, but that’s what makes it fun. The ride is smooth, and once you reach the top, the views are absolutely worth it. Seeing St. Louis and the Mississippi River from that height is something you won’t forget. The staff throughout the experience were friendly, organized, and helpful, making everything easy and enjoyable. Whether you’re into architecture, history, or just love a great view, the Gateway Arch and its tram ride are definitely worth the stop. Highly recommended!
Sudip J — Google review
Visited the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and had a really calm, pleasant experience. We watched a short 10-minute film about the history and architecture of the Arch, which made the visit even more interesting. The staff were helpful and shared additional information, which we really appreciated. After that, we took the tram to the top, and the view from up there was absolutely beautiful. No rush anywhere — everything felt smooth and well organized. A great place to visit if you’re looking for a peaceful experience with amazing scenery.
Libu S — Google review
Major shout out to the Gateway arch, and those that maintain the grounds and Parkway area. You guys are truly set in the bar for excellence with regards to customer service the gateway, arch, a spectacular architectural wonder it is an absolutely musty. It is literally the gate between the west and the east and everything in between if you’re headed westbound to California and you’ve never seen it it’s a must see if you’re heading home California back to Chicago. It’s a must see whether it’s day or night. I’ve come here multiple times traveling westbound to California or return trips from California traveling east to Chicago still need to experience that tram ride going to the top. So I have to plug that into the itinerary for next time.
Stephen A — Google review
If you like architecture, history and nature, the Gateway Arch is a really fulfilling experience. Everything is beautiful, well thought out and organized. The guides are friendly, the tram is ingenious and it all has a very good St. Louis stamp. The arch itself is a true marvel.

Botanical garden
Sights & Landmarks
The Missouri Botanical Garden, located southwest of Downtown St. Louis, is a 79-acre botanical paradise founded in 1859. It boasts a diverse array of meticulously maintained gardens such as the Gladney Rose Garden, Seiwa-en Japanese Garden, Biblical Garden, Ottoman Garden, Blake Boxwood Garden, English Woodland Garden and more. The iconic Climatron greenhouse houses a lush lowland rainforest with over 1,500 plant species.
Love the Missouri Botanical Garden! Awesome place to walk around and learn; I can’t imagine the hard work it takes to keep this place as beautiful and enjoyable as it is. We came on a Saturday and had no problem finding a parking spot in the main lot-it was super hot out. Once we purchased our tickets (I believe it’s free entry for STL residents) we spent several hours walking the grounds. There were several places to fill up water, and a few other spots to purchase drinks/snacks. This place is great for all ages, and is super accessible. Before we left, we stopped in the lovely gift shop for a few souvenirs. Before we came for our visit, we checked out the website for info, which is user-friendly and will tell you all the goings-on at the property. Highly recommend to anyone-we will be back!

We came during the annual Japanese Festival and it was a great experience. The garden is one of the most beautiful locations in St. Louis and is a great location to visit and enjoy. The Festival was very lively and also particularly vibrant, offering a comprehensive and engaging cultural experience with a wide array of great vendors. The extensive variety of activities and performances available made for a dynamic and immersive visit. I recommend buying tickets online and in advance for a seamless checking in experience. The Missouri Botanical Garden is highly recommended from me and deserves 5/5 Stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We have been to many botanical gardens throughout the world and this is one of our top 5 . Super clean and easily laid out. Their is an admission fee but totally worth it. We walked the gardens but their is a tram available. The entrance is stunning and there is a small cafe and gift shop. We loved the Japanese gardens as well as the Dome Conservatory. Check their web site for hours of operation and admission info.

This is probably the biggest botanical gardens I've been to. You have the indoor tropical area, tons of local stuff, Japanese and Chinese gardens. Tons of cool animals! It was really beautiful and there's plenty of spots for you to stop and sit whether it's benches along the water or little seats inside tucked away areas for shade and privacy. Definitely unbelievably awesome!!
Regan B — Google review
We scheduled our visit to the garden in November. The outdoor plants were dormant so we went into the Climitron (green house). It was delightful! There were plaques explaining the different kinds of plants and there were some beautiful tropical flowers. I recognized many plants as ones I've only seen used as decorative house plants. It was lovely to see them in a native setting. Being a green house, it was also nice to walk out of the blustery cold into the comforting warmth. I highly recommend this visit while you're at the Missouri Botanical Garden.

The grounds were beautiful. This was first time there for a daytime and got lost for hours in the many gardens. Truly enjoyed the Rainforest and Arid areas. The Japanese Garden was a highlight. Last winter went for the Glow event and it was also beautiful!!

Breathtaking beautiful, it has a conservatory, an impressive collection that dates back to the 1800s, different garden spaces through out, my absolute favorite were the Victorian, Chinese, and Japanese gardens but they are all absolutely impressive and beautiful. It is a place to relax while enjoying the peaceful beauty of nature, the tranquil landscapes, and life in all its splendor. Please visit, bring walking shoes, and leave revitalized. Restaurant
Balkan Treat Box is a popular restaurant known for its Balkan specialties such as pide, lahmacun, döner, and ćevapi. The restaurant has gained local and national acclaim for its famous cevapi, a minced meat and garlic kebab grilled over an open flame. Served in homemade wood-fired pita with raw onion and kajmak sauce, the longer, denser Sarajevo-style cevapi is a highlight of the menu.
UPDATE: By the length of the line I see I was not alone in missing Balkan Treat Box this week! My previous note said how awesome the staff is to update Google so I knew not to drive over. They also share a lot on social media about stuff like that, limited time specials, etc. So glad they reopened so I could get my doner and sopresa salad. Since I decided to get to go last minute, I just got out of line and went to the to go area to wait. As always the staff were lovely -- they all seem to genuinely like working here EVERYTIME I AM IN! That vibe is amazing. They offered me a glass of water, it's the little things! And oh my goodness the food is fantastic! So fresh. The favors so good. Try all the things. PREVIOUS POST Everything about Balkan Treat Box is top notch! Seriously, have been untold times and always leave full and smiling. Well except today. Today was a lesson in not waiting so long between visits! I was on my way there when I thought twice about traffic & put it in Google maps, it said temporarily closed. I knew something was up and looked at the socials…. Air conditioning went out. They did everything they could to let customers know about the change in schedules as they always do! This is opposite experience from a friend at a chain recently — they didn’t mention the outage on arrival and only after the friend complained did they say the AC was out. Crazy in these temps to put employees & customers through that. Love supporting small businesses that are so good at updates. Thanks for saving me the in person heartbreak and I will be there once the AC is back, the only dilemma, what to order!

Outstanding food, service, and environment. I ordered a lot for my small group and had the opportunity to try everything! I enjoyed everything that was ordered. The doner is delicious (I should have ordered 2). The Wrap was my favorite and a menu item that I would return for over and over again. The burger was unique, but I loved it! Plthis location has a reputation that is well deserved, and I cannot wait to return. Lines are usually long, but my visit was excellent. Early afternoon visit during a weekday is the way to go!

Order at the desk and food will be brought out to your table. Indoor and outdoor seating options available. There is a parking lot at the back. Wood fired flatbreads Brown butter hummus: pretty chunky with chili oil and lemon juice with toasted flatbread and crushed pistachio sprinkled on top. Parsley and mint garnish. Pretty good. Balik Ekmek: grilled fish in bread with cherry tomatoes and salad. Comes with a side of chips. This was just ok. Lahmacun: interesting that they roll it into a wrap. Get the spicy beef. This was good.

Balkan Treat Box is a gem here in STL. Its always fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is friendly and casual. I usually go with the Doner #3 but this time I ordered Lahmacun #4 with spicy beef. #4 is probably my new favorite. The slaw on the side is a perfect compliment to the dish. The owners also have a breakfast place Telva which is another great spot.
Crystal C — Google review
I ordered a döner from Balkan Treat Box, and I have to say I was really disappointed. For a place that is supposed to be known for döner, the portion I got didn’t match the price at all. I paid $18 for a plain chicken döner, and as you can see, there was barely any meat inside. The bread was huge, the meat portion was small, and it honestly felt empty. Even the classic döner I ordered had more vegetables than meat, which isn’t how a proper döner should be. For what they charge, the amount of food you get just isn’t worth it. I’ve had döner from many places, and even cheaper spots give way more meat and better value. Unfortunately, this one didn’t meet my expectations at all.

I’m very picky when eating out because I usually prefer cooking at home and I was very impressed! I had the 2 vegan dishes: the salt and pepper tofu, and the chili garlic noodles. My partner got the mackerel and palm sugar ribs. The flavor was well rounded and complex, I was not disappointed at all. Price tag is a bit high considering the serving sizes but the portions were larger and more filling than I expected for “small plate”. The food came out very quickly, servers were pleasant and attentive, and the ambience is great, so in my opinion the overall experience is well worth it.

Just wonderful. Creative takes on SE Asian (mostly) food… lots of rich intense flavors. This is a really lovely restaurant interior with great service as well. Can’t wait to go back and try more - everything we ordered was noteworthy. Dishes are small plates served to share. Each dish sized enough for 4 people (at most) and easily shareable for two. Interior is warm with clean lines, dress and vibe is similarly stylish but not formal. Definitely a best STL restaurant. Recommend: Isaan Hamachi, Sake Yaki, Chili Garlic Noodles

iNDO was the best food experience for our long weekend in StL. From the moment my wife and I sat down and greeted by our waiter Daniel to the dessert, everything was above expectations. The salmon was perfect with exquisite crispy skin and flavorful sauce. The hamachi was delicate. The house made chocolate ice cream with brownie bits and red beans provided great texture without any over powering sweetness.

It was my first time there and I thought it was going to be this small, intimate spot, but they actually have a lot more seating in the back plus a nice patio area. We ordered every vegetarian dish on the menu, and they were all super easy to share. Most of the dishes have a bit of spice but since I’m not great with spice I asked for the sauce on the side for a few things and that worked perfectly. The staff was super nice and gave great cocktail recommendations. The cocktail menu itself is honestly so cool with lots of unique ingredients and combinations. Overall, I get why this place is so popular. The food, drinks, and service were all top tier. I’d definitely come back again.

I'm currently wondering why it took me so long to come to this restaurant! I read that it's a restaurant full of nominations and recognitions, and now I perfectly understand why. All the dishes we ordered to share were impeccable in every aspect. The absolute highlight was the gyoza. We finished with a perfect mango and coconut dessert. I loved everything; I've already become a fan. The waiter that helped us was super gentil.

I waited on Indo for some time as I have received mixed reviews. After trying out a range of the sashimis, ribs, and cocktails, I would say I have to agree. Some of the dishes like the sake sashimi have a great flavor but some are over flavored like the sugar plum ribs. All in all, it’s a cute trendy date spot, but not a place I’ll return.

Amazing staff from the front of the house to the back of the house! Friendly and fun! Food is outstanding! You can tell the time and details in each dish that the Chefs take pride in what they do. The ice cream is the best in the city! Amazing cocktails! Thank you everyone for another amazing visit! I will definitely see yall soon! Absolutely amazing flavors in every bite!

This place is absolutely incredible and probably one of the top 50 or maybe even 25 restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining at. Each dish was thoughtfully constructed and the cocktails were unreal. I told the bartenders they need to add some type of side starch to the menu people can order to mop up all the sauce that's leftover with some of their dishes as I almost just straight drank the bowls afterwards. Bonus points if you can figure out a night when Sofia(sp?) and Hia are behind the bar as they were such warm hosts to chat with all night long. I live in Seattle but told my wife we should look into coming back to St Louis for a weekend just to come to this restaurant for dinner 2x nights in a row it's that good.

French restaurant
The Crossing in Clayton offers a unique dining experience with its imaginative, high-end cuisine that combines French and Italian influences. The restaurant has gained popularity for its outdoor dining concept, featuring cozy tents on the patio where diners can enjoy their meals. The menu showcases creative dishes such as a salad with Iberico ham, arugula, fennel, and Pecorino Romano cheese, as well as braised veal cheek prepared to perfection.
This experience is in the top five best meals I've ever had. We tried the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Every single item brought to our table was delicious and beautifully plated. Try the 100 years of port as well, so delicious. Great espresso, lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. This is what fine dining is and they execute it so well. The blue cheese souffle is to die for as well.

Thank you for your hospitality and wonderful service. I was having a hard time of reservation on an opentable website for my second visit. Restaurant manager make it posible for me. First time I'm making my own buffet 😋 and the second time, Joseph has been awesome with the chill soup wich is I didn't like, and he wants to make his customers satisfaction by offering me an Octopus dish! The food portion is very acceptable for your stomach from appetizers to dessert.

Had a wonderful lunch at The Crossing in Clayton. The cheesy focaccia bread? Absolute sin—so good! I went with the halibut special, and let me tell you, it’s #stlouispescatarianapproved. Perfectly cooked, tender, and just the right portion size. The service was top-notch—super attentive without being overbearing. The place has a classy vibe with white tablecloths and a beautiful bar. Bonus: easy street parking! Perfect for a casual but elevated lunch experience. Definitely worth a visit!

Exceeded our expectations! We made a reservation last minute for my birthday dinner and we had a great experience. The tasting menu allows you to try multiple different menu items and makes for a wonderful experience. Every dish we had was thoughtfully crafted with high end ingredients. The service was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. The prices are also reasonable for the amount of food and quality.

First-time visit and very pleased. The food was delicious. As someone born in the Czech Republic, I was pleasantly surprised to see Czech wine on the drink menu.

Fantastic! We did the Chef's Grand Tasting Menu which was delicious from start to finish. Every bite was incredible. Excellent variety and a lot of food. Can't recommend highly enough. Other's at the table did the regular tasting menu and they felt the same about their meal. A definite must!

One of the very best dining experiences I’ve ever had! We enjoyed the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing and every single course was full of flavor and unique in some way. It was our first time eating here, so it was such a great way to try many of their menu favorites. And I loved that they didn’t bring us both the same thing for each course, allowing us to try even more! The wines were paired perfectly, too. Our server was also fantastic. Can’t wait to eat here again!

The Crossing is an amazing restaurant with even more amazing food. My sisters and I chose the 4 course tasting menu w/ wine pairings. The presentations were all beautiful and the food really was some of the best food I've ever eaten. I have not one single complaint about the whole experience. Our server, Joshua, was super attentive and patient, and very knowledgeable about both the menu and the wines. It's a little pricey, but not overpriced, definitely worth every penny. I highly recommend The Crossing, and I will be back. Excellent celebration restaurant too.

Barbecue restaurant
Salt + Smoke is a laid-back BBQ spot with a Texan vibe, offering an array of bourbons, craft beer, and artisan cocktails. Customers have raved about the warm welcome and cozy atmosphere. The menu features a variety of BBQ options such as brisket, pulled pork, and wings. Sides like white cheddar mac and cheese and creamed corn have been praised for their deliciousness. Visitors have also enjoyed the hush puppies with maple butter.
Had lunch at Salt + Smoke in Delmar recently and overall, it was a good experience — not mind-blowing, but definitely enjoyable. We sat outside on the patio which had a relaxed, laid-back vibe, perfect for a sunny afternoon with a glass of red wine (which we definitely took advantage of!). The staff was friendly and attentive, even with the outdoor crowd. We started off with a salad before diving into the heavier BBQ fare. Now for the main course — we went all in on the meat platter. Brisket, ribs, fries and coleslaw. The meats were well-seasoned and tender enough, though the ribs had a heavier bark than I personally prefer. The coleslaw was solid — crisp and balanced. But the real MVP of the meal? The French fries. I don’t know what kind of magic they put in those fries, but they were phenomenal. Perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, seasoned just right — honestly, I’d come back just for a bowl of those with a drink. In short, Salt + Smoke delivered a good BBQ meal with solid sides, but it was the fries that truly stole the show. Worth a stop if you’re in the area, especially if you’re craving some top-tier fries and a chill outdoor atmosphere.

Yum! We got the ribs and pulled chicken with sides of baked beans, mac and cheese, greens, and fries. Our server was also very sweet and attending! The ribs were really good, the meat was tender with a large crust The pulled chicken was good but my family devoured it before I got a good chance to taste it lol The fries were really good, it's fried in beef fat and has a really yummy garlicky taste. The mac and cheese!!! Very creamy and good. I don't see creamy mac n cheeses that often because of grainy rouxes. The salad was good, the croutons were the best. Overall very good.

I picked up my order. I was disappointed not to see mashed potatoes on the menu. The ribs were Bang'n. The chicken wings could have been a bit less fatty! The fries 🍟 were peace and tasty! The green beans were good as well. The quality & quantity matched up decently. I very well may visit again before I leave St. Louis.

When you are in the Delmar Loop area, you immediately smell the BBQ in the air from Salt + Smoke. This is their original location and they now have multiple locations thru out the St. Louis area. This location is always busy but we were lucky enough to get seated immediately on a Sunday night. They have a gluten free menu which is always a plus but we were in the mood for just a few appetizers. We started with the Deviled eggs with Bacon which were fantastic and an order of Cherry Smoked wings with Sweet Trashed sauce. The wings were meaty and juicy and the BBQ sauce was so good we ended up buying a bottle to take home. Their menu is extensive offering salads, sandwiches, plates of BBQ and dessert. They have a nice selection of crafted beers and bourbons as well. If you want good St. Louis BBQ,this is definitely a place worth visiting.

We stopped here for a lunch of appetizers. We ordered Fried House Pickles, Burnt Ends Toasted Ravs, Hush Puppies, Cherry Smoked Wings and Loaded Beef Fat Fries. The Hush Puppies were very dense and bland. They are served with Maple Butter which was so delicious and helped give them flavor. The Loaded Beef Fat Fries are AMAZING! OMG 🤤. They are served with bacon, cheese sauce and Alabama ranch. They are so rich and garlicky. They are just so frickin good. The Cherry Smoked Wings were very flavorful and were nicely smoked. The Burnt End Toasted Ravs were nice and crispy. You wouldn’t know by eating them that the filling was supposed to be burnt ends. Overall they really lacked flavor. The Fried House Pickes are made with three kinds of pickles; B&B, Dill Spears and Gherkins. They were unique and they all were very sweet tasting, almost like they were bread and butter pickles. For drinks we had a Walnut Old Fashioned and a Pineapple Margarita. Both were so good. Like soooo good. We would love to come back and try some main courses next time. Salt + Smoke I had high expectations, but I don't get the hype. We were doing a bbq tour around STL 4 spots on the list. They sat us quickly even though it was busy. But tables are super close together and so many sauces on the table, you couldn't see the person across from you in our two person table. I ordered half rack of ribs and small order of fatty brisket my sides were Mac and cheese and baked beans. Man I was so disappointed in the ribs it was so dry and I'm not taking about the rub on it but the meat it self was dry. The brisket was decent. Now the Mac and cheese was straight up nasty Mac was just mushy way over cooked, ever had over cooked pasta? it turns it mush nasty texture! Bake beans were boring. The pop over was dry only was able to eat parts of it. I wouldn't go back. Too many better options for BBQ in St Louis!

We had amazing food here and had the best service. My partner would have liked his wings cooked slightly longer but we are still talking about how good the rest of our food was.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate one friend’s birthday. I ordered the three meats plate. The ribs were extremely dry and burnt out. The food itself was okay, but the service was terrible. Our waiter, Clare, was rude and unhelpful. Every table needed water, but it took forever for her to notice and ask if we needed it. She seemed to have an attitude.

Deli
Sandwich shop
Gioia's Deli, a beloved establishment since 1918, has evolved from a grocery store to a renowned sandwich shop with four locations. The original shop on the Hill is recognized as an "America's Classic" by the James Beard Foundation. Gioia's is famous for its hot salami, known as Salam de Testa, made from beef and pork snouts.
Absolutely awesome neighborhood Itallian deli! Quaint. Great deli atmosphere. Fun. Fantastic and friendly service. The food was amazing!! The James Beard award winning original hot salami sandwich, topped the original way, so delicious!!! Just amazing!! Topped it off with great homemade potato salad, chips, and a Fitz's root beer (when in St. Louis!). Great time!! I highly recommend!!!

Ah-mazing! Do not pass this place up. The hot salami was incredible. This is a James Beard award winner. We got 2 hot salami rolls to take home with us. Ok. The spicy daggit, chefs kiss, he added lettuce and tomatoes to the original sandwich. Chefs kiss y'all. I got the Italian trio, and it was so good, I think next time, I'll also add lettuce and tomatoes. My son got the Porknado add lettuce and tomatoes for sure, and it's out of the park good. The service was great and pretty quick. It's really small inside but there's a park across the street. They also have tables outside. This is a very humble place inside, nothing fancy and prices were good. Highly recommend!

We stopped here yesterday for lunch and we are already huge fans and will keep coming back! My husband got the Hot Salami and Roast Beef and I had the Mortadella. Both were delicious! We also ordered the potato salad and it is absolutely amazing, I highly recommend it! The line was long when we arrived and we ordered from the kiosk and got our food before some of the people in line. Can't wait to come back!

I was skeptical about the hot salami sammich, but any and all concerns rolled down the hill faster than a snowball in February once I took the first bite. This is arguably the best sandwich in all of STL. Hot, melty and gooey with salami so soft that it could be confused for slow-cooked corned beef.

Simply exceptional.. these sandwiches are amazing! We got the meatball and turkey sandwiches on cheesy garlic bread. The flavors were perfect. Paired with Fitz’s root beer is a great combination. The wait time was reasonable on a Monday during lunchtime. There aren’t many seats at this location but people came and went so seats opened up periodically. You can order on the kiosk, but the staff were also friendly. I look forward to going back!

I live in Texas but I’ve gotten lunch 4 times this year - each time I came to St. Louis- I prioritized my work schedule around getting to Gioia’s on The Hill! The Spicy Daggett is my go to - and i like to add Red Hot Riplets!

Great place for an affordable family lunch. A park across the street for the kids and tasked inside and outside. No bathrooms so be warned. EXCELLENT chocolate chip cookies. The hot salami was great and the club was even better!

I LOVED this place. The customer service was absolutely amazing. Misty helped us at the counter and talked us through the menu and helped us with recommendations. This place was great but she was fantastic! We got the Italian trio and added tomato and lettuce which was so good. We got the large and split it which was perfect. Would highly recommend for a sandwich or if you need a fantastic employee would recommend coming and poaching misty because I would hire her in a heart beat.
