The Western North Carolina Air Museum, situated less than three miles from downtown Hendersonville, is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts. It proudly displays an impressive collection of historic airplanes, along with models, photographs of pilots and aircraft, engines, and flight manuals. Housed in two airport hangars, the museum is staffed by passionate volunteer pilots who are eager to share their stories and answer visitors' questions.
I can't say enough about this place! There were so many full-size airplanes, small-scale/RC airplanes, airplane memorabilia, and information packed into this building/hangar! The gentleman that was running the place was so knowledgeable about literally everything!! They do not charge an admittance fee. They do everything and stay open solely on donations and gift shop purchases. Please make sure to donate or purchase items from the gift shop to help keep the place going!! You will not be disappointed at all!

This was a great museum to visit and the volunteers/docents were excellent and so thoughtful. They were especially kind to our kids. It’s great for kids too! Our littles had so much fun exploring the planes.
Susanna O — Google review
This was such a cool place. My son is obsessed with airplanes and this absolutely hit the spot! There are two planes to actually SIT IN! Admission is free but they take donations. We will definitely be back!
Alissa G — Google review
Excellent hidden gem! Close.to town and interstate! Worth every moment of small detour. Run to this place do not walk. Such great aviation and history gems. Very unassuming building is a treasure chest for the eye and ear... so much packed into this space.. a must do for a couple hour journey back in time!
Frank L — Google review
Cute place off the beaten path hidden in a neighborhood. Admission is free, but donations are welcome as that is what keeps the museum open. The gentleman who first greeted us was very funny, helpful, and informative. I could see and hear another man getting a thorough tour and explanation. All aircraft with the exception of one has flown and could fly again. Very cool. This is the first air museum I have been in where I have seen oil trays with sentiments coming out of the aircraft. It makes it quite real feeling. If you’re in the area, I would recommend a stop here.
S L — Google review
A hidden gem of a place! Perfect for plane fans both young and old. Free to enter but donations are accepted. It is run by incredibly kind and knowledgeable volunteers. We brought our plane-obsessed 2 year old and he was so excited to sit in an airplane. It backs up to the Hendersonville Airport and we were able to watch a small plane take off while we were there.
Kaitlyn A — Google review
This is a free museum with lots of planes and information. Some of the planes are originals and some are reproductions. They are not open every day, so be sure to check the schedule.
Ellen C — Google review
Been visiting them for years! Took my children when they were little, they really loved seeing all the old the planes. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I just went back through for the first time in awhile. I love the displays and the information on aviation available. A must visit!

Housed in the former ballroom and theatre of the Skyland Hotel, this unique museum provides a fun-filled day for families and friends.
Great place! Super nice staff and great pinball machines. Spent about 6 hours playing and still couldn’t get enough. If I’m ever going to be around this area again, I’ll gonna stop by.

What a cool place! Stopped over 4th of July weekend on the way to Asheville and could spend tons of time here. Great staff, super cool location. $13/ all day play with snacks, beer, soda and seltzers for purchase $5-7
Erin R — Google review
What an awesome place! I visited as part of a work conference but this place is well worth the $15 admission for unlimited play! The nostalgia factor alone was fantastic! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, too!
Sylvia R — Google review
This place is awesome! My 11 yo grandson and I had a blast. There is a wide range of machines across the years. I loved playing the old 70's era machines. My grandson tried put almost all of them. I especially liked that with the wrist band we could come and go all day if we wanted. Will definitely be back.
Laurie 2 — Google review
Such a great place to visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the pinball games!!!…what fun. Many old machines that took us back to our childhood Friday nights out. Be sure to visit.
Peggy B — Google review
Love this place! We always bring friends and family when they visit us in Hendo. So many games to choose from and the staff is awesome!
Angela — Google review
Great selection of games that are hard to find anywhere else. They serve beer too. Really great selection of Williams games. They do maintain their games better than most average free to play arcades, but I was expecting a little more quality considering they are a pinball museum. The Who's Tommy machine had it's play field angled at almost 0 degrees for example. Why?
M V — Google review
Super fun afternoon! Played some really great pinball and even some old school arcade games. Qbert was just as fun as I remembered. Super clean and super friendly staff. They have drinks available including beer. Absolutely worth the price of admission!

Sights & Landmarks
Elijah Mountain Gem Mine And Crystal Store is a beloved spot located just a short distance from downtown Hendersonville. Visitors of all ages can experience the thrill of gem mining, immersing themselves in the role of prospectors from the 1800s. The mine offers both outdoor and indoor water flumes where you can sift and pan for various gemstones such as rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and amethysts.
We had a great time even though it was pouring down rain. I believe we interacted with the owner she was amazing and was really helpful. We found some huge rubies in our bucket. We got the Honker tub and it was worth it we have some huge rubies we can make into jewelry. My son also bought some of the hand made knives and I got a coin for my father’s collection. I was upset I didn’t get to play with goats because it was pouring, but the chickens and a peacock came right up and stayed next to us on our bench which was awesome! A great time for all. We got to interact with some wonderful families as well. The store was well stocked and they had a huge clearance going on right now as well.
Rebecca B — Google review
The absolute perfect place to take your kids! What kid doesn't love rocks? But gem mining aside, there are chickens and goats, as well as play area in the back. Oh, and dinosaurs. There was a delicious Mexican food truck, and we saw them open the bar though we didn't have anything to drink. Spent almost 3 hours here and enjoyed every minute! Also really enjoyed looking through the gift shop.
Megan G — Google review
My little boy loves gem mining and this is our favorite place in the Carolinas. We always find lots of beautiful gems plus my son loves the play area and watching the chickens and other birds.
Quietta J — Google review
We had a great day at this gem mine! The kids loved using the sifting pans to find gems. They also loved the playground and feeding the goats. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable. We bought some beautiful geodes in the gem store. A very nice experience.... Don't miss it if you are in the area!
Cynthia M — Google review
This was the best gem mining experience we've had! Best buckets we've mined anywhere. Four of us came home with Ziploc bags filled to the brim with large gemstones. Filled one Ziploc with tiny stones too. The goats were sweet and enjoyed the being fed. The exotic birds were cool to see. We chose to use the indoor flum and a chicken visited us, the kids thought that was just the greatest thing. Staff was extremely helpful and polite. Prices were really good. You can definitely make a 2-3 hour visit at this place if you take your time mining and enjoying the outdoor areas afterwards. We will absolutely be going back!
Stacie W — Google review
If you love gems or fossils or minerals and panning then don't come here you will spend alot of money and be absolutely happy my wallet would disagree but the kids and the wife thoroughly enjoyed it great place to stop for the family they also have some animals like goats and chickens still disappointed i couldn't buy the jackalope mount definitely stop by here and have some fun
Lewis K — Google review
First, my child loves dinasours and gems. So, they got it all here. Next, the experience is Priceless! When we got a geode on our bucket, (they cracked if for free) my child looked like she won the lottery! If you have a child that loves rocks, don’t go anywhere else! Don’t even buy the nat geo gems.. Just go here! We came here 30mins before closing and we had fun! If we were here longer, i might have spent more than $100 willingly lol. Aside from the gem experience. The store has a lot of things to buy!!!! We will definitely be coming back!
Charis — Google review
Place was awesome! Went while it was raining and everything is under cover so didn’t cramp our style. Also has a playground and goats to feed. Only bummer was the outpost brewery wasn’t open. Awesome spot and worth checking out! The kids had a blast!

The Mineral & Lapidary Museum in Henderson County, North Carolina, is a fascinating destination for those interested in the earth's treasures. Established to educate and inspire visitors about the diversity of the underground world, this museum showcases a wide array of exhibits featuring polished gemstones, raw mineral specimens, dinosaur displays, and meteorite collections.
I LOVED seeing all the gems, fossils, arrow heads, etc! I am going to come back when I don't have a 5 year old trying to show me everything so that I can look at each artifact and read the cards and spend time enjoying everything! We bought a couple of geodes, gemstones, and a grab bag! I highly recommend the little grab bags for $1!! I wish I had gotten more. I use gemstones in craft projects, and there were some good ones that I can't wait to use! Make sure to buy some goodies from the gift shop or leave a donation. There is not a fee to get in. The only way they stay open is from purchases and donations.

Such a great place to learn more about rocks and minerals. Knowledgeable staff

Such a cool little museum. Beautiful rocks, fossils and Gemstones. You can purchase a Geode and have it cracked while your there. We enjoyed it.

The Mineral & Lapidary Museum of Henderson County is located in Downtown Hendersonville. Admission is free but they accept donations. Paid parking is available on the street. The museum is located in the basement so stairs are required to access the museum. The museum is on the smaller side but I was quite impressed with the collection and variety. The fluorescent exhibit is near the entrance, so make sure you check that out as it is a great educational demonstration. There are gems and minerals from the area and the world. There is a gift shop as well. It is a great place to visit and explore.
Rebecca M — Google review
Hidden away and small but very interesting and the volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. Entrance is free, but you can buy a geode and have it cracked on site. $20-$49.. supports the place.
Martyn B — Google review
The geode cracking is so cool and the museum has one of the best and cleanest mineral displays in Western North Carolina
Sean P — Google review
Wonderful place to visit! Took our daughter here and learned so much from the people working. They made it a memorable experience for us! Would highly recommend
Ruth A — Google review
I would highly suggest anyone visit this museum if they have any interest at all in rocks and minerals or fossils! This has been my go-to stop for a rock and mineral shopping haul for two years since I finally discovered its existence (long overdue)! The volunteers are always so friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable and passionate about the exhibits and they are very kind about helping you with any purchases you make while at the museum. There are so many things to see here although the museum is small so please don’t be discouraged by the appearance of the room when you first enter! Take in everything! Each piece is incredible in its own right and they really take pride in everything they display. Also… you cannot beat the prices here. I LOVE buying way too many rocks and minerals for my own good because I know I’m getting an absolute steal. So take the trip, take a chance, whatever you need to do, it’s worth it to go into this museum!!!

The Apple Valley Model Railroad Club, located in Western North Carolina, is a popular tourist spot housed within the historic Hendersonville Railroad Depot from 1902. The club's HO layout spans 22 feet by 100 feet and showcases a picturesque western North Carolina mountain setting. Visitors can explore a Southern Railway caboose and various railroad artifacts while children can enjoy an interactive exhibit featuring Thomas the Tank Engine.
Our visit to the Apple Valley Railroad Club was fantastic! The train exhibition was impressive with various scenes. My son loved the interactive fair/carnival area, operating the trains, and spotting familiar buildings in the replica of downtown Hendersonville. The attention to detail made our visit memorable and enjoyable. The employees are nice and helpful.
Mariz L — Google review
Pros and cons, I'll start with the pros. The trains are fantastic, the layout is visually appealing. Multiple rooms with trains winding in and out of the mountains and towns, it's fun to watch the children's faces light up watching them. Roughly half of the staff are warm, friendly, and seem to genuinely enjoy sharing their knowledge. Now, for the cons. The other half of the staff are crass, cold, and seem to not have the temperament to be around children or intellectually disabled people. We have been coming here for many many years and donate at the little box every single time, however, we took a break for about two years because we had a bad experience and my autistic son forgets nothing, ever. So we decided to try again today, and while I saw some fresh new faces as well as some of the original faces we know and love, some of the others were unfortunately still there, still rude, still insensitive, so this might just be a destination we have to cross off our list. It's sad because like most autistic children, my son loves trains
Shelly C — Google review
What a great find. These guys did an excellent job. 5 rooms of model trains representing key features of the area. If you are here on Wed or Sat, you need to visit. And it's free!
Scott ( — Google review
This is the coolest place ever for kids of all ages… whether you’re 2yo or 82 you will certainly feel like you’re in a new and special place like no other. The people are most friendly and welcoming. Must see.
Victor B — Google review
Awesome, Bob was so kind he walked us through the facility and explained the layout, modeling of the near by towns from Asheville through to Saluda and beyond. To view, contact the Apple Valley Model Railroad Club to make an appointment. Great location off 7th street in the old railroad station Hendersonville, NC
Steve E — Google review
Spectacular place and a real gem!! Helpful folks were able to help me with research questions, but they’re super fun and we’re so welcoming to everyone who came in. Admission is free but I would encourage anyone who visits to leave a donation to make sure they continue to keep this great place going for many more people to enjoy. For train lovers this is a must-see.
Ellie V — Google review
No matter what your age, you have to stop in and see all the trains at the old depot in Hendersonville. The people behind these displays, and all the hard work, should be commended for creating such a real and wonderous environment. Big or small, old or young, highly recommend a stop, and chat up all the knowledgeable folks there.

Barbecue restaurant
Flat Rock Wood Room is an eclectic smokehouse located in Flat Rock, North Carolina. It offers a casual setting and serves a variety of dishes including wood-fired pizzas, pit-cooked BBQ, panini, and burgers. The restaurant has garnered positive reviews for its diverse menu and relaxed atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a continental breakfast at the nearby Mountain Inn & Suites Flat Rock before heading out to explore the area.
Yum! I'm in Flat Rock for the state beekeepers conference. We decided to give this place a try. Man what a good choice! I had the BBQ pizza and it was awesome. Melissa was our waitress and she was excellent and very patient. 😎 We will be back. And if you're in town you should stop in. You won't be sorry.
David R — Google review
Food was just ok. I got the pulled pork platter with sweet potato fries and Mac and cheese. I also got a rib for an appetizer to give it a try. I think it was the winner of the whole meal. The meat was so tender it fell right off the bone and the flavor was perfectly smoky. I had it with the spicy bbq sauce. The pulled pork was ok. I might not have enjoyed it as much as I would have if I were hungrier. This place was right next to the hotel I stayed at (walking distance) so it was convenient for a quick meal. The staff was super friendly.
Nancy Y — Google review
I am going to leave as honest review as I can, and it's based on personal experience and preferences. The Brisket plate came with a small to medium size serving of brisket slices neatly arranged with two small bowls containing my sides and cornbread (cake). The Brisket was very tender, not very moist but you had a choice of 4 sauces, I found the Bold Sauce to be my favorite with just a hint of heat on the backside. Sides: The potato salad was fantastic! Absolutely loved this non mustard mix (and I do love mustard too). Mac & cheese was a flavorless soup, elbow noodles in a cream type sauce that had no discernable flavor (salt & pepper to the rescue). Cornbread (cake) is an absolutely non southern style and sweet as yellow cake. Good but should be offered as dessert. Service was good, very nice waitress and good relaxing atmosphere. Would I go back? Absolutely, want to get more of that potato salad!
Richard B — Google review
My wife and I ate here today while returning home from a trip to Asheville. It looked really crowded when we arrived about 2:00. I had a difficult time finding a place to park. I checked with the hostess and was surprised she could seat us right then. Our waitress took our order right away we were eating within 10 minutes of arrival. I ordered the pull pork sandwich with sweet potatoe fries. They were pretty good, although no where near the best I've ever eaten. My wife ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs with potatoe salad and corn. I tasted the ribs and agreed with her they were ok, but certainly not the best we've ever had. Maybe just a little over cooked. There was only 1 rest room and both male and females were lined up to get in. We both passed on that! Overall the food was ok, although a little over priced. The service was very good and the atmosphere was ok.
STEVE C — Google review
My boyfriend and I stopped here after doing some fall activities with our two fur babies. We called ahead and made sure they had dog friendly patio. They did. When we got there we noticed it was a little crowded (great sign right!!!) so we asked if we could sit at this little table away from everyone. We know not everyone is dog people and we didn’t wanna bother anyone. They were so accommodating and let us sit there away from everyone. The server was absolutely amazing! She was soooooo sweeet! (Will update when I find the receipt with her name) but the fooooood was soooooo good. I got the pulled chicken plate with fries and Mac and cheese! Let me start off and say this was the BEST Mac and cheese I have EVER HAD! They also give you a piece of cornbread and well and that corn bread was sooooooo good! The entire meal and experience was hands down the best. It was the first time we have been there but IT WILL NOT BE THE LAST!! We live 2 hours away but every time we come up that way to do mountain activities we WILL stop there! If you’re in the area you must stop here!!! 10/10 recommend! 💙

Young lady behind the bar is an asset to the business. Friendly and excellent company. My apologies, I kept calling her Deborah, but if the business would, please provide this review with her name. She deserves to be recognized. Again, excellent atmosphere, food and service.

The food is always great here. Some items are overpriced in my opinion (8.99 for a side salad). They have outdoor seating and dogs are welcome. Our favorites are the bbq, cornbread and pizzas (wood fired). Its a great stop for when you aren't sure what you are in the mood for because they have a little of everything. They have a nice variety of salads as well.

We recently stayed in Flat Rock, NC, for a family reunion. Several family members selected Flat Rock Wood Room for lunch between activities on a Thursday afternoon. We chose to eat on their porch. Our server was the same person that seated us when we arrived. She did an excellent job during our entire dining experience. She was quick and accurate in both taking and delivering our food selections. My daughter is a vegetarian, and she ordered the Veggie Panino (Fior di latte mozzarella, roasted onion, roasted green pepper, roasted egg plant, Roma tomato, and arugula) with a side of chips. My wife ordered the Fork and Knife Sandwich (Pulled smoked pork piled on house made cornbread and topped with shredded cheddar cheese and competition BBQ glaze) with a side of baked beans. I ordered the Brisket French Dip Sandwich (Horsey sauce and provolone cheese) with a side of Collard Greens. Many of us added barbecue sauces to our food from the many selections available on the table. Everyone in the group was happy with the flavors of choices we made. If our Saturday evening dinner was not also barbecue, we would have returned again on Saturday to have lunch at Flat Rock Wood Room.

Eclectic restaurant
Never Blue is a vibrant and quirky restaurant located in downtown Hendersonville. It stands out as a favorite spot due to its unique personality and eclectic atmosphere. The restaurant's colorful decor, art, and whimsical vibe create a comfortable yet elevated dining experience. Chef Jesse Roque's dedication to providing guests with not only delicious food but also a memorable dining experience is evident in every aspect of the restaurant, from the cocktails to the menu and service.
We were excited to find a restaurant with tapas options! We loved the devils on horseback (fried bacon wrapped dates), the duck wontons & the chicken curry deviled eggs (my favorite). We also enjoyed the ribeye cheeseburger (not pictured) and the shrimp & grits. The atmosphere is very eclectic & colorful, and the waitress was attentive & very helpful with menu suggestions. Recommend!

I was looking forward to this meal but was disappointed. Nothing was great. It was basically average. The smash burger was solid. Nachos were not great salad was pretty good tostada was lame. Curly fries were good
John E — Google review
We were traveling in the NC mountains and stopped at Never Blue for dinner. Street parking was tough but there was a side street lot easy to access. We were seated quickly. The meal was delicious. My son is super picky and he loved the chicken tenders and fries. We sat in the transformed open area with lots of pillows on the mesh chairs for comfort. The waitress was sweet and knowledgeable. I forgot to mention. There is plenty of humor here too! A sign, on the open air portion of the building identified that bugs live outside and they can't control them. Funny! Also, the restroom sign was for the "whatever". Not men or women :) They have a lot of humor!

Epic lunch! Comfortable atmosphere, spectacular food and stellar service from Madison. We tried 6 items from the tapas menu and it was all devine. The portions are huge for tapas and we left there stuffed. The passion fruit margarita was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. I can't rave enough about this place!
Julie T — Google review
Visited here for the first time today for lunch after hiking and it was delicious! Loved that they had so many vegan and dairy free options, and that they were clearly marked! My husband and I got two tapas and a dessert each and everything was so flavorful and fantastic! Pictured is the vegan chocolate cheesecake with sorbet and the brownie. Will be back!
Stephanie L — Google review
We love this place for special occasions and bringing friends and family from out of town. The quirky atmosphere is fun and inviting. We also love sharing and trying a bunch of different menu items. For our birthday celebration we tried it all! Calamari- excellent, tenderloin quesadilla- a favorite, the burger- fantastic, pork tostada- tender great flavor, fried grouper- crisp and light, Cesar salad- anchovies in the dressing makes all the difference. Our only critic is of the desserts. The big chocolate cake was delicious all by itself, we would have preferred regular vanilla ice cream instead of the orange. The pineapple crisp was, in our opinion, too sweet and a bit soupy. Overall the experience was great and we look forward to future dining experiences.
M. G — Google review
This place has outdoor, indoor, and semi outdoor seating. The tables are covered with a paper sheet over a tablecloth which is good for quick turnover except for the fact that the tablecloth is very dirty. I got the Shrimp and Grits which were very bland for S&G, I added salt but it did not help much. I can say that my trip was made better by Ms. Kayla, who was my waitress. She was very thought and attentive to me.
David B — Google review
The ambiance is very nice and "on trend" so there tends to be a wait for dinner. The food we sampled was okay, the mashed potatoes, devils on horseback, and brussel sprouts tapas received my highest rankings. The Quality of Service left something to be desired in terms of accuracy, attentiveness, and efficiency, but it was likely bc there was a dinner rush concurrently. Our waitress' personality, however, was sweet-natured. I would probably go back for wine and tapas on the patio... just my two cents.

Postero is a casually elegant bi-level restaurant in Hendersonville, offering New American cuisine and craft cocktails. The restaurant features worldwide flavors prepared by experienced industry professionals who chose Hendersonville for its pace and quality of life. With options like Curried Sweet Potato Bisque, Baby Kale Caesar Salad, and Baby Bok Choy with miso and butter, the menu caters to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.
Sarah was our server. Super sweet. Delicious food. My parents raved about this place, but it was my first time. Holy smokes. I like that the menu changes frequently. We got the chips and whipped Gorgonzola dip, cured pork fig dip with pickled veg (wouldn’t order again), crab & corn app, mac & cheese, steak, shrimp pasta dish and the apple dessert. They had non alcoholic wine and beer, which as a pregnant lady, I get excited to see on the menu. 10/10 will return. The green goddess salad was simple but good too btw.

Consistently fabulous! We have been multiple times and we are so grateful to have such a wonderful restaurant in Hendersonville. The food is always super fresh, very creatively prepared and we loved our server Becca because she's so attentive-- and has the knowledge to can explain the preparation of any dish. (Tip: The cherry crostini appetizer is addictive). We love the lively atmosphere and open kitchen. We truly appreciate the owners-- a calm, chef husband and wife who are a joy to watch. ( How do they always seem so unflappable?!) Thanks again for a great offering of dishes, appetizers and desserts.

Postero offers a refined dining experience in Hendersonville, with a focus on quality ingredients and elevated presentations. While the menu is quite limited and expensive, the dishes they do offer are crafted with care. We started with the tuna carpaccio, which was beautifully presented but unfortunately missed the mark. The sauce was overpowering-so dominant that it masked the delicate flavor of the tuna entirely. A more restrained touch would have let the star ingredient shine. The small BLT salad was a nice follow-up: crisp, fresh, and balanced with smoky bacon and a flavorful dressing. For the main course, we had the chicken large plate, which was the highlight of the meal. The chicken was perfectly cooked-juicy inside with a great sear-and the accompaniments were thoughtful and satisfying, making it a hearty and well-rounded dish. Service was okay, but not particularly memorable. Postero still delivers a strong dining experience overall. If you're looking for a creative, high-quality meal in Hendersonville and don't mind a limited and highly expensive menu, it's definitely worth checking out.

We started with the Brussels sprouts and they were phenomenal. Crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, they set the tone for the rest of the meal. We also ordered the mosaic plate which was a creative twist on a traditional hummus plate. Instead of hummus it had an eggplant base that was smooth and delicious, a great change of pace. For mains, I had the chicken and my wife had the ribeye. The chicken had a nice crispy texture that I really enjoyed, even though it leaned a little dry. The risotto served alongside it was absolutely immaculate, creamy and rich, the kind of dish you remember long after the meal. The ribeye had good flavor, though a little fatty, and it came with fries and a salad which made it a complete plate. We finished with the tiramisu and it was the perfect ending. Light, decadent, and beautifully balanced, it was so good that both of us agreed it elevated the entire experience. The food overall was creative and flavorful, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere made the evening enjoyable from start to finish. With dishes like these, especially the risotto, Brussels sprouts, and tiramisu, this place earns five stars without question.

During our vacation in Hendersonville, me and my wife decided to go out to eat at Postero one evening. Our reservation was at 7:45 and with the restaurant closing at 8:30, we were nervous the staff would be quick to serve us and try to rush us through our dinner service. We were seated upstairs and had a beautiful view of the kitchen and the outside street. Our server, Mrs Shannon, was extremely professional, explaining the menu clearly and efficiently while bringing out drinks and food in a timely manner. She described to us how she had worked there for over 10 years! Wow! What dedication! For our starter, we ordered the Chips and Dip. The house made BBQ potato chips paired well with the Gorgonzola Mousse, something I was originally hesitant to try. For main dishes, I ordered the Steak Frites while my wife ordered the Chicken. I asked for my steak to be cooked Medium-Rare and it was excellently prepared and tasted amazing. My wife’s chicken had amazing depth of flavor and was not dried out at all. Our personal favorite from these dishes were the Frites that came with my steak, they were well seasoned, crispy, and had the perfect temperature. For dessert we decided upon the Appalachian Tiramisu and the Dark Chocolate Pot De Crème. Both were exquisite and well prepared. Overall with a tip we spent around 170$ but the entire dinner, from service to flavors was phenomenal leaving nothing to be desired. If you are ever in Hendersonville and want an excellent evening dinner service, look no further than Postero.

We called the day before to see if anything was available and were lucky to snag an early table - so glad we did! Postero ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. Everyone left happy and full after enjoying a variety of delicious dishes. The wine menu was excellent, and the staff was so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Postero – A Must-Try in Hendersonville! 🥗🍤 We stopped in for lunch and were blown away. I had the salad with chicken — unbelievably good and officially in my Top 2 of all time! Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi and called it “unreal” — I snuck a shrimp and totally agree! Flavor explosion. Postero nails it on taste, presentation, and atmosphere. We’ll absolutely be back next time we’re in town! 5 stars all the way! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #Postero #HendersonvilleEats #FoodieFavorites #LunchGoals

Enjoyed a great evening and meal at Postero. State of with the chips and dip. Chips are crisp and flavorful and the dip was light and creamy. I had the grilled pork cup with sweet potato mash and griddled broccolini. It was all cooked and seasoned perfectly. Finished the meal with the maple pecan tart with vanilla bourbon ice cream! The only thing that would have made it beget is if it were bigger! It was the perfect size for a dessert, I just could have ate a lot more of it! And the service was great too.

Shine is a trendy restaurant in Hendersonville known for its homestyle cooking, cocktails, and craft beers. The eatery offers a mix of eclectic and traditional dishes with something for everyone on their brunch, afternoon, and dinner menus. From salads to worldwide appetizers, sandwiches to a variety of dinner plates like Thai Curry Beef & Scallops and Steak Frite.
I'm actually surprised this place isn't rated higher. Our experience was phenomenal from start to finish. The staff was exceptionally friendly. It was quite busy on the weekend so for sure recommend a reservation. My favorite items were their croquettes with ham and pimento cheese. Omgness so good. My husband is from New England so very picky about his seafood. He had their mussels and was pleasantly surprised with their flavor and quality. Definitely get one of their cocktails that highlights their house made ginger beer. The Dark N Stormy was a treat. Also...their creme brulee. Yes, please!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Shine tonight (a Friday night). We were a party of 7, and we sat at a high-top near the kitchen. The food was delicious, service was excellent (thanks to Jarret), and the atmosphere was vibrant but not too loud. Everyone enjoyed their food. We had the Shrimp & Grits, Sweet Potato Ravioli, Blackened Grouper Sandwich, and the burger. We would all order them again. I'd highly recommend!

We ate on their patio. We had very prompt service. Shine was recommended by a local shop owner. I got a grouper sandwich with slaw on the side. It hit the spot. Hubby got the Bahn Mi sandwich and a side salad. He enjoyed his sandwich. The inside of the restaurant look cozy and inviting.

We tried Shine in Hendersonville for the first time as a family—my boyfriend, our toddler, and I—and unfortunately, we won’t be returning. We had driven in from out of town, about an hour away, hoping for a great meal and experience, but left disappointed. Our experience started off decently. Our waitress seemed very knowledgeable about the menu, which she had memorized. But as the meal went on, her attitude changed noticeably. My boyfriend waited an unreasonably long time for a refill while she stood behind our table chatting with other staff. He had only eaten half of his sandwich and needed a drink to finish it, but instead of checking on that or offering a refill, she asked if he wanted a to-go box. When he responded that he’d like a refill, she brought it back and slammed it down on the table with clear attitude, and was short with him the rest of the meal. Her name was Naomi. As for the food: my boyfriend said his French dip sandwich was just okay, but the fries were great. I had the heirloom tomato salad—which was amazing in flavor but too small for the price—and the oysters Rockefeller. The oysters were clean but disappointingly small, and the portion (6 oysters for about $20) felt underwhelming. My son had a grilled cheese with fries and fruit, which he enjoyed. However, the restaurant only serves drinks in glass mason jars with no lids, even for toddlers, which made things a bit tricky. We also tried two desserts: the banana pudding (a featured special) and the crème brûlée. The banana pudding was a huge portion but had almost no sweetness. My son (who loves banana pudding) wouldn’t eat more than two bites, and his dad didn’t care for it either. The crème brûlée was decent, but the style was off. It was very deep with minimal brûléed sugar on top—more like a pot of custard than the classic dessert we were expecting. The custard was fine, but the caramelized sugar is the star, and there just wasn’t enough of it. Our total came to around $120 for two adults and a toddler, and we ordered from the more affordable end of the menu. For that price, we expected something a lot more memorable—in a good way. While there were a few positives, the service and portion sizes just didn’t justify the cost. We were really hoping to love it, especially after making the trip—but sadly, we won’t be back.

Stopped here for dinner after visiting Hendersonville for their apple festival. We loved this place! The server was so nice, delicious cocktails (not pictured), and great food! The duck fat fries were my favorite! Even though they were very busy, the food did not take long at all and everyone was so friendly. Will definitely be back should we be in the area!

From start to finish, everything was phenomenal. Angel was my server, and he did a fantastic job recommending dishes to try as well as wine and beer pairings. Unfortunately they were out of Bulgagi, so I tried the Steak Frite instead. Quite frankly this was one of the best steak dishes I've ever had. And the French wine paired lovely. I had to twist my own arm just a bit to try dessert. But the creme brule was so creamy and tasty. You've got to try this place!

My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. The overall atmosphere was great and the service was great as well. The food however was lacking flavor. We got the pretzels as an appetizer and they were really good, the beer cheese was hot and tasted great. My wife and I both ordered the ribeye, and there was no seasoning at all to the steaks. And we are not people who typically go for heavy seasoning but some sea salt and pepper would have added a lot to the steaks. The cuts were really good cuts and they were cooked perfectly, the flavor was just bland. With the steaks they serve mashed potatoes and a vegetable, these were pretty good, but definitely could have used a bit more seasoning or even some salt (there was none on any of the tables) My wife also ordered a Mai Tai and it was so heavily poured she couldn’t even drink it. I tasted it to see if she was over reacting and it did taste like straight rum. The biggest surprise though was when received our bill, a “non-cash” charge was added. This just isn’t the sort of thing you would expect to see from a higher end establishment, but rather a Chinese take out restaurant. While I did not catch our servers name, she was great, very attentive and even got the manager to remove the glass of rum from our bill even though we had not asked for this to be removed.

Italian restaurant
Nestled in downtown Hendersonville, NC, Mezzaluna Brick Oven and Tap House offers a sleek and contemporary dining experience. The inviting atmosphere resembles a rustic Italian trattoria with the aroma of freshly baked brick oven pizzas filling the air. While their specialty is pizza and cold beer, they also feature a variety of Italian flavors on their menu.
Good food and good portions. I had the chopped salad and Alfredo and it was delicious (but I did add some salt and pepper). The staff is great. The atmosphere is a bit loud inside (good for kids that make noise but bad for those who are hard of hearing). There is also outdoor seating where you can sit under an umbrella and watch folks cruise Main. (My food was almost gone before I remembered to take a pic...it was good!)

The food was pretty good! I would definitely try something different if I went again, the shrimp was very good though! 👌

I think I've said this before, this is a restaurant for tourists. The menu needs upgrading to match their pricing. Huge disappointment and definitely don't go hungry. Pictured are two $20 plates. While the lasagna came with a very small salad it measured approximately 3" x 3.25" x (almost 2") compare this with other local places and you feel like your wallets been raped. Don't get me wrong the place isn' t all bad. Nice atmosphere and great beer selection. For a $20 plate, maybe some kind of garnish was in order. Sadly I will never set foot in this place again.

Excellent service from Courtney! Really enjoyed the mussels. Surprisingly, the pasta was kind of bland. Could not taste any garlic, very little parmesan added on top. I coaxed a little flavor by adding some salt. The restaurant is very cozy, with a variety of seating arrangements, including outside. We will be back, at least for the mussels

The staff is very welcoming and warm, they receive us (a big group) and made us feel very good. I got the vegetables pizza but honestly the lasagna was way better, you can’t go wrong with that!

“It’s all about the cheese.” My reply when my friend asked me what makes this place so great. I started with the Caprese, and it was just wonderful. In particular, the mozzarella had actual texture and flavor. Too often I am subjected to amassed “dairy”; globular masses that lack distinction, texture, flavor, or taste; either they make the cheese themselves or source it locally because this is among the best mozzarella I have ever had at a restaurant, including Manhattan. The basil? This time of year? Not a hint of licorice for those of you who have had the experience of late harvests that you won’t even touch because it will ruin the dish. Same for the tomatoes, sliced thin, because they are so fresh and good they don’t need to be layered on to make up for the other ingredients; they are a flavor, not a filler. Manicotti for the main course, and again, the cheese. What caught my eye is the use of goat cheese in the filling, wow, spot on, not at all overwhelming, present, and brings out the essence of the remainder of the “stuffing”, c'est délicieux. The tomato sauce was just that, a compliment, not an overwhelming marinara. The tiramisu goes hand in hand with the entirety of the dining experience; each ingredient speaks for itself while acknowledging the others that bring it to your palate in all of their individual distinction and glory. Well done, thank you, I look forward to dining with you all again.

So… I’m struggling with this one a bit. I want to give them more stars, but I just can’t. Here’s the story. Party of 7 and we were promptly seated. The service and atmosphere were good. The food was hit or miss all around. Really good mashed potatoes and house made fettuccine. The spaghetti and meatballs left a lot to be desired. The meatballs were very average and sauce was very watery. The bruschetta would have been great if they used a better quality mozzarella. The one they use is the stuff you’d find in a supermarket wrapped in the plastic. Dry and tasteless. The pizza was okay. The Ahi Tuna portion was way too small for the price. Also mains came out… server asked is there anything else? And well yea, the apps we ordered. They did apologize, but apps ended up coming out as we were finishing our mains. Also an Italian restaurant that charges $5 for rolls is a first. Overall underwhelming experience. Probably won’t be back.

-0 where to start? We came in a group of 4 celebrating my husband’s 50th birthday. We were standing in the host stand for 10 minutes to get acknowledged. Finally the host came over and sat us with menus. We were ready to order and no service for 20 minutes until we flagged down Heather acting manager on duty. She took our drink order and came back stating the cherry cider wasn’t available. Then we ordered appetizers the peepers and crab cakes. Finally she came back stating that the peppers were sold out and the crab cakes were soggy. We ordered the mozzarella moons. We ordered a calzone and chicken parmesan that was good. I ordered the coconut shrimp and risotto. The risotto was so hard I had tooth pain. The coconut was burnt. The fettuccine my friend ordered was had no taste. This was informed to Heather and she took it back and the kitchen had closed so I stayed without a meal. The staff had closed down and lights off. I asked Heather to at least to save the day to get a tiramisu for my husband and she declined. We have been customers for 11 years. This is unacceptable. I need the owner Courtney to contact me.
