Mountains
Mt. Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, is a hub for recreational activities such as skiing and hiking. It offers stunning views of the Green Mountains, White Mountains, Adirondacks, Lake Champlain, and Mont Royal in Quebec. Hiking trails like Cliff Trail and Long Trail provide varying levels of difficulty for hikers to explore the alpine ecosystems. The area around Mt. Mansfield has seen growth with accommodations, dining options, shops, and entertainment along Mountain Road.
The weather was incredibly cold, and the wind was whipping. It was cloudy towards the summit so you were unable to see what you were getting yourself into. I will definitely start by saying I was in love with this hike. Something for everyone. However once you started getting worn down by the wind, and the clouds started to unveil what you were getting into there technically false summits in a sense. so you’re coming up to the first one you think you’re good then you climb on it to see there’s another one then climb on that to see that there’s another one. However, I will go back to my previous statement saying I really did the scrambles, the bridges, the little waterfalls, the Alpine trees. It just really was a great hike. Had it warmer and not foggy I would’ve loved it more. The entry fee is five dollars per person. I did want to note that. I do recommend this mountain. The views were absolutely incredible. especially in the fall.

I totally loved the hike along with my friends. A wonderful experience. Best day ever spent at an elevation

Stunningly beautiful. There are plenty of trails to the peak, some of them very difficult. We drove up the Toll Road, which is a little pricey but takes you up a winding incline with shockingly good views that doubles as ski trails during the winter. The road takes you to the visitor center at Lot A, and this is on Vermont's Lon Trail near a peak called The Nose. We walked from The Nose to The Chin, which despite being all along the top of the mountain was pretty strenuous. Views include being able to look down on the Stowe Mountain Resort gondola (another option for getting most of the way up the mountain), and seeing Lake Champlain on a clear day. Note: due to alpine conditions there are guide strings to keep you from trampling endangered flora.

We did the Long Trail here. It was quite windy up there and very cold and wet c although the views were fantastic especially the alpine zone. Some of the shorter hiking trails (e.g., subway) turned out to be quite challenging and technical.

Very hazy 10-3-25, up before noon. Drive wasn't bad. Had to park up and wait for a departure from the top lot. Kinda pricy trip for 2. Worth the vig though. Not a rough hike.

Recently, my friends and I took a trip from Burlington, VT, to hike Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont at 4,393 feet. The drive to the mountain from Burlington is about 57 miles, and once we arrived, the hike did not disappoint. After a 20-mile drive from Stowe to the trailhead. And they charge us 79$ into single vehicle with four passengers.we reached the walking path, which leads to an incredible 360-degree view from the summit. The hike from the path to the “subway” section took us about 35-40 minutes, and the scenery was stunning all the way through. One interesting thing about the trail is a thread tied with stones that marks the path. I learned that you’re not allowed to cross that line because the area is home to some endangered plant species. This thread helps protect the delicate vegetation by keeping hikers on the designated path from start to finish. You’re allowed to bring food and drinks, but it’s important to carry all waste back with you—there are no trash bins or water sources along the way, so make sure you bring plenty of your own water. While the hike was overall very enjoyable, I would not recommend it for small children, as parts of the trail are quite risky. It could be challenging for older folks as well unless they have someone looking out for them. Mount Mansfield offers a stunning and unique hiking experience, with breathtaking views and an opportunity to connect with nature while respecting the fragile environment.

My favorite hike in Vermont, especially if you take the Sunset Ridge trail. Absolutely amazing on a clear day. Prepare for a long hike with good shoes, snacks and water. It can also be quite windy on the ridge and at the summit.
Kim F — Google review
Prepare for a long day of hiking uphill if you want to make it to the summit, if you want to save your energy I suggest hiking early so you can take the gondola ride back down, otherwise, it’s a very tiring (but doable) loop. Beautiful views, brief areas where you actually have to do a bit of rock climbing, and very windy at the top. Loved this hike up mount Mansfield.

Ski resort

Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont is a premier destination offering an array of activities for all seasons. With two mountains, Spruce Peak and Mount Mansfield, the resort boasts over 100 trails for skiing and snowboarding. In addition to winter sports, visitors can enjoy hiking, golfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and zip lining during the warmer months.
The resort is divided into 2 main parts: Mansfield (for intermediates) and spruce peak (beginners). Spruce peak has a bunch of dining options, from small coffee shops to upscale restaurants. Mansfield side has cozy lodges to get warm in between your runs and The Cliff House Restaurant at the summit (needs reservations). You can take easy gondola to move between two mountains. If you have epic pass use the app to get the latest updates from the operations crew. Overall, loved skiing here this season and loved free parking on weekdays.

I've been skiing at Stowe since the late 90s and I just love this mountain. There is plenty to ski for every level. Stunning views. Like every mountain, conditions are weather dependent, so you either plan ahead or roll the dice. I rolled the dice and got lucky. The previous week saw about a foot of fresh snow, there was not a cloud in the sky and it was cold enough to keep the crowds away the whole morning. The grooming team did a great job of refreshing the mountain. There were plenty of powder stashes in the woods and the sides of trails. My husband no longer skis, so he set himself up in The Den at the Mansfield Lodge and said that the staff kept coming over to make sure he was comfortable or if he needed anything. The food prices are high, but with the epic pass discount, comparable to most resorts. I really dislike how expensive the window prices of lift tickets have become. It's shameful. Skiing should be more inclusive. I bought a 4-pack epic pass the previous year, which came in a the top-end of what I'm willing to spend for a day of skiing and offers a good variety of destinations. If it weren't for that, Stowe would be off my list of places to ski.

First, you should know that The Sound of Music is my all-time favorite movie. I cry every time. The Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT was our very last stop on our 2-week long roadtrip through the northeast. I had no idea it existed until I started researching places for us to stay in Stowe and just happened to stumble upon it. I started crying and sent it to my husband and told him we were going! LOL! This mountaintop is where the von Trapp family finally settled after fleeing from Austria. We participated in a history tour and learned even more about the von Trapp family and we also got to meet their Scottish Highlander cows. I fell even more in love with their story. It's definitely more than what we would normally spend on a hotel per night, but it was worth every penny. The resort was soooo very nice! We went the first few days of November and it was a little tooooo cold for us, so we would want to go either during the fall or springtime! It has just snowed right before we got there. I don't do the cold! LOL! We ate at their restaurant TWICE because it was soooo tasty. YUM! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We got to see Maria's gravesite and that was emotional, too. I would recommend watching the movie first if you're not familiar with this story because you will have an even greater appreciate for it whenever you get there! You should do the history tour, too! I bought two different books and read one of them on the way home. Gosh, it was just the best and my heart was very full.

Very good hotel with plenty of amenities Came in summer but I’m sure it’s great in every season specially winter to ski. Very convenient. It has a gondola on site.

Fall Gondola ride was beautiful with the colors. The views from the summit were spectacular.
Brian P — Google review
I had a great time with my family. It’s a nice resort, a bit icy, but that’s to be expected with east coast skiing. The staff were friendly and the runs were mostly well kept. I say mostly, because one run had a lot of rocks on it and the snow was so thin that you could see dirt, but that was because it was on the outskirts.
Chris R — Google review
The snow and trails were pure magic—easily five stars. Skiiing through pristine runs was an unforgettable experience. But at $227 for a lift ticket plus parking, the cost puts a damper on the accessibility. Three stars for the price, because should the thrill of skiing really come at such a steep price?
Tiffany K — Google review
Really nice mountain, views are amazing. Can be windy by time so you can expect some chairlift to be closed. A lot of runs for beginners/inter and nice terrain for powder hounds.

Cider mill
Shopping
Cold Hollow Cider Mill is a charming spot in Stowe, Vermont, known for its delicious cider donuts and apple cider. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the mill year-round to witness the traditional 1920s rack-and-cloth press squeezing juicy McIntosh apples into fresh non-alcoholic cider. The mill also offers seasonal hard ciders for tasting and an alcoholic cider tasting room.
The cider store has a huge variety of products. That was surprising! I bought coffee spread and maple jelly. Excited to try it soon. I also tried cider donut, it was decent. Ordered chicken pesto from the café, it was decent but little bit pricy though. It was fun to checkout cider process and try it out!
Shri — Google review
Cold Hollow Cider Mill is such a fun Vermont stop! The fresh cider smells amazing, and the warm donuts are a must-try—crispy, sweet, and perfect with a hot drink. You can watch cider being pressed and browse maple goodies. Cute shop, friendly staff, and great fall vibes all around!
Flora — Google review
The place is busy and obviously a tourist attraction. Please bring your patience!!! The hard cider is delicious and the maple creemee was really good but also really rich and sweet. Cider donuts are flavorful although not what I expected. Be sure to get a taste from the tasting tank in the back of the store. It is fresh and the best you will ever have!!
Candy T — Google review
Classic Vermont Tourist Stop Probably one of the most touristy spots in the area (second only to Ben & Jerry’s). When we visited this past weekend, the store was absolutely packed. It was hard to even move without bumping into someone every three seconds. Every local we spoke to warned us it was a tourist trap, but we still wanted to check out the Vermont apple cider experience. The store had plenty of maple and Vermont goods, but the best part was the tasting room in the back. It’s just a massive steel tank of apple cider, completely self-serve, and you can pour as much as you want. I had a few cups right there, and it was super crisp, fresh, and perfectly chilled straight from the tank. I wasn’t planning to buy anything, but that first sip immediately convinced me to get a couple of cider packs. At checkout, we also grabbed their “legendary” apple cider donut and the maple creemee donut sandwich. The donut, unfortunately, was really bad. Dry, oddly sweet but somehow not sweet enough. It actually tasted better frozen with the maple creemee than on its own. Honestly, I’ve had better grocery store versions, though maybe dipping it in cider helps.

We came here in 2024 on a weekend trip to Stowe and fell in love so much that we HAD to come back in 2025. This place is super touristy but worth ALL the hype it receives. You MUST go to their cafe for breakfast. We enjoyed it so much this trip we went twice! Super cinnamon-y apple cider, sweet maple crepes, and a maple creemee are some highlights. The Morning Core on a cheddar biscuit alone is the reason to visit! The gift shop is also lovely and has an assortment of treats and Vermont merchandise- You won't go home empty handed!
Julia T — Google review
Visited the restaurant and the food and cider was very good. Enjoyed the Cider Mill Vermonter sandwich which was delicious. The hot apple cider was great as well. Stepped across to the cider and gift shop where you can sample fresh pressed cider and view displays of the cider process. Nicely done for a small space. Unfortunately, the cider donuts did not live up to claims and were a disappointment. It was small, dry, and nearly tasteless. The Apple House in Shenandoah, VA puts these cider donuts to shame.
Larry A — Google review
This is one of those places, my husband would call a “tourist trap“. Too many people with two little parking and buses and large groups wandering through especially during leaf season. However, the country store was very charming, the coffee was excellent and the maple creamee ice cream was amazing! Don’t get mad at me, but I really did not care for the cider donuts. They really were nothing to get excited about. They were just cake donuts, which I’m not a fan of, and didn’t taste very much like apple cider. To me, the taste was mehh and not worth the hype. If you love cake donuts then by all means grab one. It’s one of those places that if you’re visiting for the first time you’ll probably make yourself go to and if not during peak season it’s probably a lot more enjoyable.
Marty P — Google review
Very nice place. You can see them pressing the apples. They also have a big tank of chilled cider to try while watching them. Creemee!!! Ohhh so good with maple dust on it. Also, the cider doughnut was very good with a cup of hot cider 👌🏽

The mountain is so quiet and peaceful. I enjoy everyone I visit. The rooms were amazing. And clean. The view is one of the best I've seen throughout the United States. Stop by and tell me you loved it for yourself.

Absolutely wonderful. The only drawback is 31 stairs to our lodge. Not for the faint of heart! The room is perfect with a gorgeous view. Close to great food, shopping, and world class skiing.

This is the resort to stay at for the most beautiful sunrises in all of Stowe, VT. The sun will peak over the mountain top while the rest of the village is covered in fog and morning dew. Once you’re here, look for the highland cows and sheep and make sure to stroll the manicured grounds in full bloom during the summer months. Wonderful hospitality and some of the best views around.

I expect this would easily be a 5 star review if we actually stayed there. Unlike my wife I've never watched 'The Sound of Music' and this facility is ran and managed by the family the movie is based on. Anyway we just toured up there for a day, had a late lunch, looked around the grounds (they're beautiful), and got a history presentation of the family and all they lived through. Anyway there's a lot of outdoor activities and beautiful views, at least I was told they're beautiful as the weather blocked everything. Anyway if you're into cross country skiing this would be one of the best places to stay.

Spectacular views across Vermont mountains. Spacious, clean, well maintained condo units. Ours has an outdoor patio. There are miles of great hiking/skiing trails right on the property. A couple miles to the charming historic town of Stowe. And near the highest peak in Vermont, Mount Mansfield. The place is totally steeped in history and charm.

There is so much to do in this precious resort- hiking, mountain biking, ski, cross country, sled-ride, horse carting, snowshoeing, pickle ball, tennis, swim indoors or out, hot tub, gym, rock-climb, massages, sauna, walk to local Von Trapp brewery from resort, beer tasting, whew! I could go on! Oh and there’s these hammocks in the forest off a trail where the trees and forest sounds pit you to sleep!

We have been using the Guest Houses for about ten years now and have had a time share for seven. It really is a little piece of Austria. Plenty to do on-site or within twenty minutes from the house. Nice break from the world.

Doc Ponds is a trendy hangout spot in Stowe, known for its modern atmosphere, complete with a fireplace and patio. It's a popular apres-ski destination and is affiliated with the well-regarded farm-to-table restaurant nearby. The place exudes a groovy vibe with vinyl records on the walls and colorful snowboards on display. The menu features carefully crafted pub food like smoked carnitas tostada and Vermont half chicken.
Cool place spinning vinyl and serving up some good food. Friendliest staff that were attentive, but not hovering. Started with the chips and dip. Crunchy homemade chips with lots of great BBQ flavor seasoning. Cool onion dip. Just like in your backyard. Would like a little more dip to chip ratio, but I'm just being greedy! Mac and cheese was brilliantly gooey with a little breadcrumb crunch. The duck sandwich was crazy delicious. The bread was buttery and crispy. Duck was amazingly tender and the blueberry chutney balanced everything beautifully. The banh mi was a great take on a classic sandwich. The meatballs were tender, juicy and spiced perfectly. The fresh pickled veggies add a crunch and the cilantro ties it all together. Flavor explosion. The bread was also the right choice for this sandwich. Peanut butter pie. Enough said. Beer and cider selection was great! Not the prettiest of presentations, but the taste more than makes up for it. Go! 100% would go back.

Came to Vermont to catch the changing of color. Stopped by here for early dinner. There was a 20 mins wait for outdoor seating even at 5:00p so this must be a popular place. The chip and onion dip was delicious. The buffalo wings were moist and crispy. I had the half chicken with broccoli slaw. Chicken was a bit overcooked but tasted delicious. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and topped with pickled onions. Also, try the Irish Nitro Stout with it smooth foam. Great meal overall.
Teddy C — Google review
The food here was amazing! Got the Duck Confit Melt and the quality of meat was good as it was like a pulled pork but with duck on a bread with cheese as you would expect with a melt. Only thing that threw me off was the raisins though it doesn’t ruin the dish. The mac and cheese with crumbs on top was amazing as they use freshly grated cheese. The environment was nice, though I had two screaming kids in my ear which I can’t do anything about but crop dust them from thar Mac n cheese! Only downside was we tried to go at lunch and said they open at 4pm on Fridays. Highkey recommend.

Stopped in for a quick lunch before heading out from Stowe. Super yummy food! Really enjoyed the mac and cheese, chicken sandwich and corn chowder special. We'll definitely be back!

Our experience was phenomenal. The chicken was out of this world (more than enough for 2 people), the duck confit sandwich was great, the house chips and onion dip were wonderful.

A crazy busy restaurant, and you should expect a wait! That said the food is excellent, the cocktails are excellent. The sandwiches are pretty special and I’d definitely recommend the cheese fritters, and while the beer specials used to be better (I think they had $5 alchemist cans before), they always have some good local stuff
Blake R — Google review
Excellent! Sat outside ..Delicious Maple beer Blue Cheese fritters and Burger were terrific . Husband had the fried chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese . So good ! Great place with friendly staff
Vicki L — Google review
My family and I went here on 7/15. Husband got the marinated mushrooms which he said were awesome. They did not have the cheddar fritters on the menu but were on the online version. My son and I both got the cheeseburgers. For $16 I would have figured they would have been more then an inch thick from top to bottom bun. Barely any lettuce or anything on them. Worst part was our daughter got the Mac and cheese. Came out in a skillet sliding around on a plate. Waitress said “be careful it’s a little hot” so we were careful not to touch it but about 5 minutes later my daughters arm accidentally brushed against the handle. She started to cry and it was a little red but quickly turned into a bad burn! “A little hot” caused a huge burn blister on her arm before we even left. If you are going to serve skillets, do what most restaurants do and put a handle coozie on it and use a more secure transport plate instead of sliding around in a plate. Needless to say very disappointed. Temperature safety should be a priority.

Brewery
Nestled in the heart of Stowe, Idletyme Brewing Company is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a delightful blend of craft brews and American comfort food. This beer-centric bistro boasts a warm atmosphere where you can savor European-style beers brewed on-site in stunning copper tanks. The menu features mouthwatering dishes like ale-battered fish and chips, oversized Bavarian pretzels served with hot beer cheese, and creamy mac and cheese made with Vermont cheddar.
We stopped there for a quick drink and ended up getting some food as well. You ABSOLUTELY have to get those crunchy cheese balls, they were delicious. The beer flight was excellent, and the burger and Reuben were great! We sat on the bar and had a blast of a service. 🍻
Liran T — Google review
The food was fairly good but not reaching 5 stars in my opinion. The beer flight featured some classic/basic styles of beer - all of them were fresh although tasted fairly plain to me but fine to go with a meal and interesting to try anyway. The Vermont Cheddar Fritters were really good and I enjoyed them together with the sauce. The wings with shriracha-buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing did not match my taste unfortunately. The lady at the bar/tap was really welcoming. Overall no regrets and the place is good but next time I’d look for something else.

Excellent relaxing patio dinner. The cheddar fritters were crunchy and gooey and the chipotle aioli was the perfect sauce on top! Chili was great and went next level when I added it to my Vermont mac n cheese! Husband had the burger and raved about the onion bacon jam. Patio area was beautiful on a crisp fall nice and we enjoyed an after dinner warm mulled cider by the fire pits! Great spot.

Our favorite meal that we had not just in Stowe, but in Vermont! We had the Vermont Cheddar Fritters which were insane, and the jalapeño aioli was delicious. The Potato Leak Soup was incredible, which was the soup special of the night. So much flavor. And, finally, the best Fish and Chips we’ve ever had. The service was also 10/10.
Amanda G — Google review
We ordered take out, it was actually hot AND ready when we arrived to pick it up. Nice! The pub burger and kids tenders were good, no complaints. But the Mac & cheese and the Vermont cheddar fritters sucked. Like really bad. The Mac wasn’t cheesy and the fritters were all dough, kinda like a hush puppy. Maybe the Mac sucked bc it was take out, idk. But for 20$ I felt robbed. I’m not saying I’d never go back, but I’d prob look for something else next time I’m here.

The Burger was Very Good, The Reuben was too dry, needed more kraut and thousand island dressing on it. The Meat didn't seem the freshest but it was still good. Sandwiches are $18-20 each. Fries were good. Beer was Excellent! Service was a little slow but acceptable. We sat inside and the air temp was warmer than I expected but still cooler than the outside temp. Would have been 5 stars if the Reuben wasn't dry/lean on the Kraut and the service was a little quicker. I'm sure the staff was busy. I would go back.

This is our first time in town and Idletyme was fantastic. Kya took care of us at the bar and she was very knowledgeable about what they have to offer and very helpful with recommending the best local drafts to choose from. Throughout the weekend I had the Notch burger and the Reuben and both were phenomenal. 10/10 recommend to anyone and will be back soon!

Our favorite place in Stowe by far! We went 3/4 days we spent at Stowe. Kya was our server the last night and she was so kind and gave us great reviews of the local beer. We sat and chatted for a while and she gave us lots of laughs. She was so pleasant and welcoming. This place is so cozy with 2 bars to choose from or you can order from the bar and sit on the couch in front of the fireplace. We would recommend to all of our friends!

Brewery
Restaurant
Von Trapp Brewery & Bierhall is an Austrian-inspired beer hall located at the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont. It was founded by the youngest von Trapp son, drawing inspiration from Austria to bring a taste of Austrian lager beers to Vermont's craft beer scene. The brewery offers signature lagers and classic plates in a modern rustic setting. Visitors can enjoy the outdoor beer garden with views of the picturesque grounds reminiscent of the von Trapps' mountainous homeland.
7/16/25—After our 15-minute stop at the Von Trapp Lodge, everyone was hungry, so we headed to a nearby brewery. We timed it perfectly—just 15 minutes after we arrived, buses started pulling in, and people began flooding the place. We sat outside, and while it was a bit hot, they made sure to keep us well-hydrated, and even brought water for Rambo, my dog. Our waiter, Seth, was quick to greet us and take our order. I have to say, everything we had was excellent. I ordered the hamburger, and it was delicious, the fries were superb, and the mini salads were so fresh and healthy. The inside of the place was lovely too—it felt like we were having lunch in Austria for a brief moment. A great experience all around

Stopped in to enjoy some tasty Austrian brews and fresh snacks on the beautiful and legendary grounds. We weren’t very hungry and couldn’t stay long, so we ordered a crisp lager, a shaved radish salad, and von Trapp pretzels with house mustards and beer cheese. The beer was cold and refreshing, the pretzels soft and salty, and the beer cheese absolutely knocked it out of the park. But the real star of the show was the shredded radish salad. Much to our surprise, this dish was a visual and culinary delight, a creative display of daikon, watermelon, and red radishes, lightly dressed with lemon oil and salt flakes. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and my daughters and I loved it! The ambiance of the bierhall is fantastic featuring large windows, tasteful taxidermy, and timber architecture all set against a scenic backdrop. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in and check it out!

10/9/25 My husband, and I were traveling through Vermont on our way to Maine and made a stop at this brewery. I’ve known nothing about this gem until I went inside and realized this is the family behind the movie? “Sound of music.” I kind of was in shock, but in a good way, I kept reading more of the book they had on display in the gift shop, very interesting book indeed. We didn’t stay for food, as we just came to try out the beers on tap. They don’t offer flights so we ordered a variety to be able to try some. The brewery is quite large and lively. They do allow pets outside with their picnic tables. Although the ground is mainly gravel, so not perfect for pets paws, but their tables make for a good environment. It took a while to get our beers, but they were tasty and worth the wait. It was such a unique experience and we hope to return again in the future, next time to enjoy their food.

My boyfriend and I came down from Smugglers’ Notch Resort to check out the disc golf course at the Trapp Family Lodge — I grew up watching The Sound of Music and absolutely insisted we stop here! I joked that it felt like we were disc golfing in Austria, since that’s why the family moved to this area (at least according to the movie!). We arrived without reservations, but the man up front was so kind and helpful — he managed to get us two seats at the bar, even though they weren’t originally right next to each other. The only little disappointment was that they don’t offer beer flights, though I’m sure there’s a reason for it! That said, they do have nice sampler sizes, so we each got two and shared. We ordered the pretzel and the Austrian potato salad (which is now my new favorite potato salad ever!). The pretzel was amazing, and all the dipping sauces at the bar were incredible — highly recommend trying them all. Our server, Justin, was super friendly and even humored me when I asked about the von Trapp family descendants and whether they ever come in! Forest was also incredibly sweet and helpful. Such great staff all around. I absolutely loved this place — it felt like a little childhood dream come true being there!

My wife and I and another couple stopped here for a beer, the place is really nice and it has nice views, but there was only one guy pouring beer for a giant bar and it must’ve taken 20 minutes to get a beer and another 20 minutes, waiting for a simple pretzel. It’s a nice place but the service was really poor on that day. To be fair, there was a pretty good size bus parked outside, but it didn’t look that busy inside just somehow disorganized. It’s a pass for me.

Great place to relax a little, grab some good food, and enjoy a beer or two, but get here early because it gets crowded fast. Cheese board is tasty, with crackers, jam, olives, and meats. Cheese soup was decent and the spatzle is amazing.

Very conveniently located on. The resort grounds. Just enough separated for a change of scenery. Dinner then lunch on 2 separate occasions. First time: service and food was good. Second time: service was great and burger was good. Salad selected was visually appealing but flavor was not to my taste. Expected an Asian dressing but it was close to a dill flavor. To each his own but could not give Bierhall the max amount of stars.

My wife and I went for lunch and she had the salmon with red cabbage and potatoes German style, and I had the sausage sampler plate which was delicious. It came with a spicy mustard and a sweet mustard mashed potatoes, pickle salad, and diced tomatoes, very authentic German Austrian style food. I had a Dunkle beer and a Oktoberfest beer. Both were great accompaniments to our food. We definitely come back again.

Restaurant
Harrison's Restaurant is a cozy tavern located in Stowe, offering homestyle American cuisine with creative local twists. The rustic interiors feature wood and stone, creating an elegant yet warm atmosphere. Situated in the historic Carlson Building, this family-owned restaurant is known for its top-rated fine dining experience. The menu includes seafood, steak, pasta, and seasonal offerings such as mussels in cream sauce and pecan-crusted salmon.
We visited Harrison’s from out of state at the recommendation of others and it did not disappoint! We had drinks, chicken piccata, NY strip (cooked to perfection), and the cream puff dessert. We completely cleaned our plates! Bartender provided great service and was very friendly. We met “Mags” on the ski lift at Stowe who is friends with the owners.

Review: A Fantastic Dinner at The Harrison We had a wonderful dinner at The Harrison. The ambience is absolutely amazing—though the dining area is in the basement, it’s beautifully decorated and doesn’t feel stuffy at all. The service was equally impressive; our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. For food, my wife had the calamari, which was fantastic, while I started with the Brie and jam—it was delicious. I also tried the duck wings as a starter, which were excellent. For my main course, I had the pistachio-crusted venison, and it was the highlight of the night—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Overall, the dishes were well-priced, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the experience was excellent. We’ll definitely be returning!

This is a nice restaurant with a small but excellent menu. We sat outside on the patio since the inside was completely booked weeks ahead. We were able to be seated within 30 minutes. Service was ok, but not what I’d expect from such a pricey restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and took good care of us. The food took a long time to come out, but we were wowed when it did. Beautiful presentation on all dishes. And every meal was outstanding! The butternut squash soup was the soup special for the night and it was amazing! Our main dishes were the mushroom ravioli, glazed salmon, and pork chop special. All were delicious and perfectly portioned.

This is a hidden gem in Stowe! In the basement of a store the vibe is incredible mixing cozy with upscale! The warm atmosphere sets the tone for the delectable food that follows! Sharing the crab cakes, bread, beet salad, harvest salad the crab cakes and beet salad were top choices! All the food was fresh and extremely well seasoned. For entrees the stand outs were the pistachio crusted venison! Hands down a table pleaser! This is not your typical venison, it is lean, easy to bite, and the pistachio crusted venison adds an incredible crunch! Cannot recommend this enough one of the best red meat entrees I’ve ever tried! Harrison’s is a great stop in Stowe for a group dinner or date night!

The food was decent, though not exceptional. The atmosphere was alright — it’s located in a basement, which may not be for everyone. Service was fine and staff were polite. Overall, a solid experience, but there’s room for improvement.

Excellent food and friendly attentive service. Seasonal Roasted Beet Salad - just the right combination of ingredients(beats, grams, pear, goat cheese, vinaigrette) in the right proportions so that they worked perfectly with each other with none of them overpowering the others. Crayfish and Crab Cakes - nice flavorful lumps of crab meat with just the right amount of sauce and just a dusting of Old Bay Seasoning. Pistachio Crusted Venison - I don’t usually like blue cheese in my food but the out ended up being the right flavor for the meat, pistachios, and sauce. Profiteroles - the fudge is between a ganache and pudding, rich dark and not too sweet.

We came up to Stowe for our first visit. We came to the restaurant on a Friday night and sat at the bar with Jenn the bartender. She was fantastic. Very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We went At 4:30 and were able to get six seats at the bar. We had multiple appetizers drinks and dinner dinners. We also had dessert. Every single thing we ordered was excellent. Our group really enjoyed the tuna and the shared oysters. One of the favorite meals was the pork chop. I was very happy to find a restaurant that had profiteroles. My favorite dessert. They were also excellent. Wish I could give more than five stars, that’s how happy we were with this meal.

High praise for Kelsey who appeared to be hostess, runner, and problem solver! Wife and I were celebrating our 25th and Kelsey dealt with an issue (no fault of restaurant) that could have led to a disappointing evening. Instead, she turned our night out into something we will long remember. Great customer service like that is hard to find no matter how much you spend or where you go. We loved the romantic atmosphere, the old jazz, and the outstanding food (venison was best I've had).

The Bistro at Ten Acres is a charming dining spot located within an 1820s farmhouse, offering a blend of rustic allure and gourmet sophistication. With its cozy atmosphere and picturesque views, it's an ideal choice for a romantic evening or a leisurely gathering with friends. The menu showcases handcrafted dishes that change regularly to highlight the best seasonal ingredients.
Having read some recent reviews, I was a little concerned but am very glad that we decided to dine at The Bistro at Ten Acres. We all had delicious meals and excellent service. We were there on the weekend during the winter kids school vacation week, so the restaurant was busy. The atmosphere was relaxing and we did not wait very long for anything from the moment we entered the restaurant. The Pomegranate Martinis were excellent. My daughter and I both had the Chicken Estelle but substituted mashed potatoes for the Rice Pilaf. We both thought it was delicious. My husband enjoyed the Trapps Bohemian Pilsner said his hamburger was also very good. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely go back again when visiting Stowe.

Terrible experience here - on a Sunday night, my family came in to an almost empty restaurant - there were two other families dining in a pretty large space. The host didn't even look us as she mumbled something, when we asked her to clarify, she was asking if we had a reservation. When we said no, she sighed, looked at the seating chart and walked around the entire restaurant as if to see if there was any possible place she could seat us (for reference, there were easily 30 open tables). She finally was able to seat us in an empty room (while there were three other completely empty rooms of no diners). Then she had to be prompted by the server to bring us water and bread. The server took about 10 minutes to get to us. They were very busy discussing their weekend plans, how much they put down for a down payment on something and other chit chat as they talked with the cook.) Food was passable, but should have just ordered a pizza.

We had our anniversary dinner 🍽 there. It was 90+ outside that day so warm inside, but the food was delicious and our leftovers were just as good. Our desserts were fantastic: A blueberry cheesecake and a tiramisu. The drinks 🍸 were well done also. Looking forward to our next visit.

I want to make sure the review is fair so I will start with the good: the environment and decor is very cute and cosy. The mussels were great. Now for the bad; the operations seem very poorly managed. We received our food 1 hr and 15 mins after ordering it with only a dry apology followed by saying that they had 2 tables that had 12 people order at the same time. We understand this is not easy to deal with but they should know the limits of their operation and accept reservations accordingly. Overall, it was particularly surprising because they truly did not try at all to remedy the situation. Our food wasn’t brought quickly even when we asked twice and nothing was comped as an apology. Unfortunately although we usually love family owned businesses and love supporting them, this is one we will not be coming back to and will not be recommending anyone.

Odd experience! We went on a Sunday night (10/19/25) and the place was DARK. We thought it might be closed because there no lights on. This created a weird vibe to start off the evening. Once we entered the restaurant, it was very nicely decorated, very charming, but EMPTY! (never a good sign, especially when every other restaurant we passed on the way there was slammed!). We were sat in a completely empty room. Our waiter was new and in need of more training, but was very friendly and genuine and his good attitude made up for the lack of experience. The service was slow and the food was just OK - not bad, but not good. We had a fine time because we were with a group of friends and in no hurry, but I would not recommend this place. I do see some good reviews here and the place definitely has potential so I do hope they listen to feedback and improve.

My friends went for a birthday and I wanted to pay $50 towards their bill because I couldn’t go. Next day I notice 2 charges for $50 so I had to call them to refund me. Nope! After countless phone calls the manager / chef, David “couldn’t refund me but could MAIL ME A CHECK” I said no I don’t want to give you my address? The POS system is able to refund me this is crazy. They stopped answering their phone and they stopped answering their email ( I only got the waiters personal email. I did not get any management email ) I could go on and on. Will never go there

We arrived at the restaurant and were seated at. 7. Our waiter gave us a glass of water then left. He came back and asked if we would like a drink. We said 'yes' and then we had to ask him for a drink menu. First he said he couldn't find a menu, then he disappeared and came back later (about 5 minutes) with the drink menu. He left again, came back in a few minutes and asked what we wanted to drink. We told him, he left and came back with our drinks. It is now about 7:20. We ordered our dinners. At 8:00 he said he would check on our meals. He came back and said he put a rush on them! We didn't get our meals until 8:30! The meal was great, the service was at best AWFUL. We asked to talk to the manager, he said he was the manager ( we don't believe him). Don't go to this place!
