Brewpub
Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub is a small corner eatery owned by Kim and Scott, known for its fine pizzas with chewy, made-daily crusts and flavorful toppings like the Caveman. The brewpub donates 10% of its Monday proceeds to local projects and offers a variety of house-made sodas along with craft beers. Located in downtown Salida, it exudes a laid-back vibe and uses incredibly fresh ingredients in all their offerings.
Best pizza in Colorado? Great homemade crust, great flavor, cooked perfectly. Definitely one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. Cute place. Nice atmosphere. Very comfortable. Lots of beers to choose from. Specialty mocktails like the Arkansas River root beer float are good and very popular. The GF / DF pizza my wife ordered was flavorful but burned and should have been sent back. I would definitely come back. Try it. You will not be disappointed unless it involves the GF crust.

All I can say is what a treat. This spot came highly recommended by our motel check in host and did not disappoint. From the water tasting a little like the cream soda they make in house (which was just apart of the cool experience) to the recommendation by the bartender to try the Jal-zone, this place was truly superior (and I say this coming from the Tri-state area). Would recommend trying the cream cheese/jalapeno combo in whatever form of pizza you get, completely unmatched. We asked our bartender the best thing to do in Salida and she suggested the hike to S mountain. We took the rec, and loved it! Don’t miss this spot on your journey to Salida even if you’re just passing through!

Crazy good homemade pizza here in Salida at Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub We went all in and tried a bunch. Literally everything is homemade from scratch, even the root beer!

Great vibes. Popular spot on a Friday night with some chill live acoustic classic folk/pop/rock covers. Delicious IPA and a good hoppy amber. Sat in the dog friendly patio area. Wife really enjoyed a canned pear cider from Stem. Pepperoni and cream cheese pizza was very tasty. Cornhole area if you’re into that. Service was friendly and attentive. We would come here often if we lived in Salida. Bought two fun stickers for a buck.

we visited salida and really liked the food here. I got a caesar salad and a calzone, my boyfriend got a calzone as well. The dough was fabulous. the ranch was great. I wouldn't say their red sauce is anything to write home about and the Italian sausage was a little gross - but otherwise we really liked it and the people who work there are friendly

So glad we decided to give moonlight a try last week! Our server Julez is an absolute gem! She was very knowledgeable of the drinks and food. She suggested we get bacon on the Mirkwood and also cream cheese and jalapeños on the cosmic Hawaiian and boy was it good! And that Pumkin Ale she suggested was on point ! She made our whole experience awesome. Great food! Great people!

Park
Nature & Parks
Riverside Park is a charming city park located in downtown Salida, right along the Arkansas River. It offers a peaceful and shaded setting with riverside picnic tables and a bandshell for visitors to enjoy. The park is conveniently situated at the heart of Downtown Salida, making it easily accessible for locals and tourists alike. Families can take pleasure in the playground equipment and bouldering wall while taking leisurely strolls along the riverbank.
Great park with a trail along the water. Great place for kids AND adults to play in the water. A water feature of the park includes a rapid big enough to surf in! The rapid also gets used by rafters coming down the river. Next to the riverside, the park hosts a concert series in the summer along with other events like an art show. This is the place to hang out in Salida on a summer afternoon! Great grassy areas for a picnic or rest from walking around town or biking on the Arkansas Hill Trails system.

Very Crowded but it's Flag Day in June. The river is wonderful. A dogs dream day visiting here. Lots of nice spots for the dog to dip in. River rafting ad all kinds of water activities going on. Its a beautiful spot in a beautiful town. No dogs allowed inside the music, street fair or i would go 5 stars.

Salida is a step into the past. It's quaint and quirky. Has lots of restaurants and great outdoor activities. The scenery is incredible as well.
Deborah W — Google review
Our favorite spot to people watch and cold plunge. Water is about 50-60 degrees in the summer 🏝️. Surfing, tubing, floating, rafting, all sorts.
Thu P — Google review
Right alongside the Arkansas river, as well as vibrant businesses downtown. Huge shade trees, big open grass field to play or lounge in; small, good looking amphitheater; places to sit along the river, both at the waters edge, and up higher to give a good vantage. Fun watching the surfers and dogs retrieving. Made me want to move to Salida.
Jonathan D — Google review
Nice city park in Salida. Lots of walking paths, a Bandstand, nice walk along the river. A man-made surfing feature in the river. Places to sit and watch the rafters in the river, also. Many shade trees, well kept grounds.

A very nice area in the heart of Salida. Plenty of open space with a variety of options from a wave park to just enjoying a book.

The Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area is a true gem for outdoor enthusiasts, offering an array of activities that cater to every adventurer's taste. Nestled along the stunning Arkansas River in Colorado, this area is renowned for its thrilling whitewater rafting and kayaking experiences. But that's just the beginning! Visitors can also indulge in fishing, where wild trout await eager anglers, or explore scenic hiking trails that wind through breathtaking landscapes.
The location on the map is the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area OFFICE. Is there a different place to review the actual Recreation Area? Or should I not review the office here? Google Maps can be really confusing sometimes. The office (headquarters?) area open to the public is quite small. There are a lot of tourist information brochures available and a very small gift shop space. There is a computer/kiosk/thingy OUTSIDE the office where you can buy a Colorado State Parks Pass. There's also a educational/interactive area aimed at kids. It is free to enter this building.

Nice place to pull over and stretch has picnic tables bbq grill bathroom. Deck to look at the river.

Lovely spot for all things outdoors! Great views, picnic tables and play places for the kiddos with a small amphitheater. The river is quiet, soothing and clean. Plenty of shopping and restaurants around for fun.

Along Highway 50, west of Cañon city... a beautiful stop... across from Five Points Campsite... Bathrooms to relieve yourself and picnic tables to relax after 😄... Try to spot the big horn sheep when the river isn't grasping your attention... Definitely going to throw a line out and see what is biting... Could spend hours hiking around

The AHRA (not to be confused with the American Hot Rod Association) should be your first stop for information regarding the Arkansas River. The staff are courteous and professional. There are brochures galore for hiking, bicycling, and river activities.

The five points campground in Canon city This campground is absolutely stunning and I would have loved to stay another day. (here comes the BUT) It must have been a serious tale of unfortunate events and poor planning on my part however, we set up camp decided that it was secure and went to the royal gorge rafting and zip lining tours which was amazing however when we got back our tents blew away I would have to say 50feet and the rain was soaked in the mattresses and the clothes. The second tale of unfortunate events were that a scorpion stung my in the rear end and although it was not deadly I did go to the hospital because I thought I was having an allergic reaction because my lips and neck were tingling that was just my bodies response and the adrenaline kicking in. In all the scorpion lived and so did I. We go to these places to relax and take life in a new perspective and I have no hate for this place its just requires a little more patience then I had. The third tale of unfortunate events is that we had a encounter of another species of mother natures beauties that deserves so so much respect and yet gets none which is ridiculous, anyways, that was on our last day and we just changed camp sites and left it be it was not there in the beginning of our stay but it was a little daunting being careful of every step you take. Now for the fourth and final tale of unfortunate events is that the sheer amount of bugs that bite was astounding and I am not one to shy away because of some bugs they do not scare me. However, I can say that I am one big ball of itch. Alright, if you have made it this far its a true state of unfortunante events and im impressed you've made it this far! Have fun camping and be safe and respectful to all that you encounter!

Bar
The Fritz is a charming American gastropub located in Salida, offering a diverse menu of globally inspired dishes in a cozy brick-walled space with the option to dine on the patio. This vegetarian-friendly bar prides itself on providing prompt service and exceptional customer care. The restaurant's extensive tapas menu and delightful selection of sandwiches, wine, and beer make it a standout dining destination.
Our first visit back to the Fritz since it reopened with the new menu! We lucked out and got a table right before the wait list started. Ordered the warmed olives, whipped feta with grilled pita, salad with ahi tuna, & the chicken& waffles. My favorite bites were the whipped feta & chicken/waffles! Delicious. I spied a tart on the table next to me I want to try next. Beautiful dishes, great & speedy service. Will be back!

I am in Salida for a vacation with my family during summer. The Fritz was our choice of restaurant after a walk in downtown. The location is great with a clean park right next to it. We were so surprised with how good the food was because of the fusion between the States and the World. We had a chance to meet Chef Eric and he is so lovable. Always smiling with a happy energy!! Can’t wait to go back 😁

wow Wow WOW! The Fritz has definitely hit the spot for a place to dine! Every dish was better than perfection, I’m unable to express the delicacy here. My favorite was the Oklahoma Smash Burger(BEST BURGER EVER HANDS DOWN) and the Mac n Cheese(tasty blend of 4 cheeses)!!! I will definitely come back for more. ps: the bartender serves great drinks

This was a great place to eat! All of the food was amazing. The kitchen staff, the bartender, the owner, and waiter were all phenomenal. Best smash burger I’ve had outside of Oklahoma. Hushpuppies, truffle fries, and Mac n cheese were all awesome as well. Love the atmosphere as well. Highly recommend this establishment!!

This is a really great little bar and restaurant in downtown Salida. Fast service and great drinks and food. There burger of the day is constantly changing and is really good. You can combine little plates and big plates to give yourself a wonderful variety of interesting cuisine. Also try the ginger lemonade, it is delicious. Do not pass up the opportunity to try out this great place.

Phenomenal views, food and service. Kenneth took very good care of us out of towners. We made it there at the perfect time and got a window seat with views of Riverfront Park. Mussels were in abundance and hearty! The smoked trout- so good! Elk jalapeno sausage- WOW! I highly recommend this local eatery.

If you eat at one place in Salida, make it this one. If you order drinks in Salida, order them here. If you love Mezcal, it’s the only game in town. We came on multiple nights and everything was delicious, the staff was always friendly and the cocktails are perfect. The salads are particularly tasty and the owner made us feel right at home. Seriously, we’re coming back next time we’re in Salida.

How do I explain how wonderful the Fritz is? We had the pork belly and the ahi which were out of this world. We come here every time we are in town and can't say enough good things and the staff. It is an experience!!

Indoor swimming pool
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the charming town of Salida, the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center stands out as a family-friendly destination that boasts the largest indoor hot springs pool in the United States. This unique facility features two distinct pools filled with naturally sourced water from nearby hot springs, which have been flowing since 1937. The main lap pool maintains a comfortable temperature between 82-84 degrees Fahrenheit and is perfect for swimming laps or enjoying recreational activities like diving and climbing on its wall.
The front desk worker was super helpful! We arrived at our hot springs reservation late and she added even more time for us! She also let us have a free locker. This was AN AMAZING experience after doing the Four Pass Loop in the Maroon Bells wilderness. Happy to go back!

Hot, spring-fed pools, with a cooler (81F) lap pool, and warmer (101F) activity pool. The warm side has 2 levels : one very shallow for children and one 4-ft for adults. Friendly staff.
Rick R — Google review
The private pool had a very strong chemicals smell.gave me a headache. I'm glad it's clean but it was so strong, I had to fill t h e pool empty it just to rid chemicals. The entire room was soaking wet. I could not sit or lay on the bench. The staff seemed lazy. Other rooms were dry and open but I had to use the used one. Afterwards in the locker room, there were a large group of moms with 3 to 5 kids each screaming and crying babies it was horrid. I had no where to dry off. I could also hear screaming and loud music from the pool in my private bath the whole time. Not worth the cost or smell.
Rainbow — Google review
I reserved a private pool due to some lower back pain and not wanting to listen to children screaming in large pool. Spent about 40 min in pool and found 3 pubic hairs floating. I knew they weren’t mine as I am fully waxed. Left my time early and let front desk know. No offer of a refund just a face made of disgust stating they will let the girls know. Clearly states sanitized after each use. This should include brushing down walls/stairs. I also don’t feel like I normally do after a hot springs, and I didn’t smell the normal smell of a hot spring to know if the minerals and nutrients were truly there. Won’t be back.
Melissa D — Google review
My family & I visited here while visiting family in Buena Vista. The kids enjoyed the bigger (cooler) pool, while I stayed in the 3-4' depth (hotter) pool. I am on oxygen and had no problems using my oxygen with a 7 ft hose. I did use a 'can' rather than my portable as it is ok to get the can wet. This is the first time I have been able to go into a pool since being put on oxygen 4 years ago. I enjoyed the soak/swim and was able to do some water exercises which really helped my arthritis. I would recommend for those who want the benefits of the hot springs without crowds.
Davis F — Google review
My son loves to swim here and I think we'd be here every weekend if it was up to him. He is not a super strong swimmer yet so we spend a lot of time in the shallow end which is heated and always feels great.
David G — Google review
Big pool, Includes: Hot pool (Abt. hot tub temp), Cold pool, Rock wall, Diving board, Slide (very fun), 2 Lap lanes, Beach balls/Floaties (You can bring your own) Showers (Free with entry), Ice cream, Friendly staff, Funny open sign, Pleasing building design, Water depth ranging from <1 inch to very deep. Facility is clean (Slight white residue in some places because of hot spring minerals)

The restaurant offers a variety of delicious wood-fired pizzas and an extensive selection of craft beers in a bright and laid-back setting. It has become a preferred dining spot for many regular customers who enjoy the signature pizza toppings that have made the restaurant famous throughout Salida.
Simply amazing. Ordered the Thai Pizza and the server’s additional recommendation was the Braised Pork Panini but as a pizza. OMG! Ordered two 9” pizzas for my wife and myself. Plenty of food! She got the sangria and I ordered a Headwaters IPA (local). Everything right down to the local vibe was on point!

This place was a delight. Don't be afraid to order the spaghetti pizza off the kids menu...it is delicious. It is the same size as the other pizzas. They have a decent beer and cocktail selection. Can be a bit of a wait to get seated but bar is first come first serve with full menu. I highly recommend trying this place a few times for there awesome looking pizzas.

Our family absolutely loved our meal at Amica's Pizza and Microbrew! We tried both the pasta and the pizza, and everything was delicious. The salads were fresh, the in-house brewed beer was fantastic, and the servers were super attentive and pleasant. We would definitely go here again!

Great, local place. Pizza was delicious. Servers were super nice and helpful. Food was very fresh. Clearly where locals go for good food and drink. If you enjoy a little added spice, try the house made hot oil.

This is a cozy pizza joint in the small river town of Salida. I’ve been stopping in at this place on and off through my travels for almost 20 years. The pizza is decent. I remember it being a bit better and more bang for your buck years ago, but everything changes. The pizzas used to have more toppings and a little less crust than they do now. The atmosphere is friendly and the service was fast once we got seated. The energy of the town in general is just really lovely. Definitely worth checking out.
Lindsey R — Google review
Great place! Me and my husband shared a pizza and a salad and were both satiated!! Pizza was great and salad was nice too! Had the pizza montenotte!
Lobke W — Google review
Amica’s Pizza is a must-stop when in Salida. The pizza is delicious—crispy, flavorful crust with high-quality ingredients that really shine. I had their gluten-free crust, and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. You can taste the care and intention in every bite. What really made the experience memorable was the incredible service. I was greeted and waited on by the owner himself, who went above and beyond to accommodate me, especially since I was seated outside with my dog. That kind of heart-centered hospitality is rare—and so appreciated. The patio was relaxed and dog-friendly, and the whole place had that down-to-earth, community-driven energy that makes you want to come back again and again. If you’re in downtown Salida, don’t skip this place. Pizza lovers, gluten-free folks, and anyone who loves great service—you’ll be glad you stopped.

The artichoke dip was delicious. The fish and chips were off the chain, along with, the wedge salad!!
John N — Google review
I ordered the strawberry lemon drop, spinach artichoke dip, and French dip sandwich. My husband ordered fish and chips. The bartender was our server. He made an amazing strawberry Lemon drop. The food was gross. Couldn’t eat more than one bite and I’ve never had a French dip sandwich I didn’t like before. Zero flavor.
Linda G — Google review
I don’t normally like to blast restaurants here but this is absolutely criminal. This is 6oz of spinach dip that cost $13 and a wedge salad w chicken for $19. I understand rising food costs and where we live but this is an absolute joke to charge that for 6oz of spinach dip and a quarter of a wedge of iceberg lettuce with maybe half a breast of chicken. Never ever again. We spent over $50 plus tip for two of these sad salads and one dip.

Nestled in the heart of Salida, Colorado, 50 Burger Shakes & Beer is a must-visit for anyone craving a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere. This charming eatery has quickly become a favorite among locals and travelers since its opening in June 2016. As you walk through the doors, you're enveloped by the enticing scent of sizzling burgers that promise an unforgettable culinary adventure.
Excellent spot all around. Had the Pinecone and it was delicious. Washed it down with a cold beer and tried to eat our way through the biggest pile of fries I've ever seen. All of it, so so good. Definitely worth it!

We wanted to stop at a local place. This place was awesome. Monster burgers and a huge basket of fries. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food coming from the kitchen all looked amazing. And a view of the mountains to boot. My only regret was the seating area that has the best view of the mountains was closed. Highly recommend!!!

Nom, nom, nom - I stumbled across 50 Burger on a recent road trip and I'm glad I did! Located right on the main drag in Salida, this place looks like it was recently built or recently remodeled. Very clean and bright. It is a counter service hybrid - you order at the counter but then they bring your food to you and bus your table when you're ready to go. Everyone who works here was friendly and polite. The menu is extensive and I tried a burger and fries. The fries were excellent - cooked and salted perfectly. The burger was delicious with a light, puffy toasted bun. The dining room is enormous and they also have an outdoor patio which is great if you have a dog and the weather is good. Well done 50 Burger!

We were hesitant to go. OMG!! Had to take the fries with us, another meal right there. Hubby had the mushroom/swiss. I think the poblano chili out ranked the mushroom. The shakes were awesome. Banana shake actually had bananas in it and I had the black cherry. Definitely going back

Seriously the best food in town loved it. My son ate two hamburgers and one hotdog and he is eight years old and just could not get enough of the fries. The onion rings to die for or to live for one of the two great stuff thank you so much.

Couldn't visit friends in Salida Colorado without introducing them to 50 Burger.. I couldn't believe they had never been here.. The garlic, rosemary fries were definitely a hit for the whole gang.. I missed getting pictures of everyone's burger because they were so juicy and delicious.. My strawberry shake could have used more strawberry but it was still delicious.. Our friends live in the area and said it's now a go to for lunch or dinner..

This place had amazing service. I brought my dog and they took great care of both of us. They brought my dog a water bowl as it was hot outside and he was thirsty. The burger was great. The shake was the best thing by far. The fries are huge size and tasted great. The parm fries is what I got.

This is one of the most affordable places to eat in Salida and I appreciate that soooo much! I love the carnitas quesadillas! The portions are great for the price and the leftovers hold well! The service is good. You can tell they are busy all of the time here and it's hard work. This place is feeding so many people in this town an affordable and big meal and I will continue to support and eat here!

Mo burrito was pretty good, only things I didn’t like was the burrito was a little on the small end for what you pay for, and the service felt more fast-food/food truck than sit down. Overall taste of bacon burrito was great though, solid blend of bacon, eggs, and little hash brown bits were great! The salsa is to die for, very well-executed in my opinion! I got the hot and the green salsas and both were full of flavor with a right amount of heat. I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. Atmosphere had really great vision, and looks like it would be a fun place if it were more popping. I came between 9-10 on Saturday morning and it was a little dead. If Mo Burrito increased size of Tortilla/Burrito guts, and if I lived in Salida, I would be a regular.

Stopped in with a co-worker. He had an Asada burrito, and I had 1/2 Asada Quesadilla with rice with guacamole on the side. We were both satisfied with the taste and portions. It was around 2 pm and wasn't real busy. Service was good and fast.

I had the tastiest, biggest burrito and it was hand made to perfection by the owner! Definitely sensed the food passion in the dynamic flavors sampled. Well done sir, I will be coming back soon

Love the mo! Always consistent.. jus wish employees were always friendly.. most of the time they are but you get the few who aren't, which makes stopping here less enjoyable.. I eat here often and try to support local businesses but the locals who aren't friendly make it hard to do so

Super yummy, fewer options than Qdoba or chipotle but the ingredients taste much fresher and better. I wish guac wasn't extra but I understand why it is

I stop by here once a year, and every year it seems to get worse. Employees act like they absolutely hate being there. Either the taste of the burritos have changed or my memory is failing me because I used to think they were good. The last two years, I haven’t finished eating before I just got up and walked away. I noticed that there are less people there too. I predict by next year, it won’t even be open anymore. They can’t last with poor quality food and employees who are desperately unhappy.

As a local I really wanted to love this place, but sadly it’s way overpriced, lacks flavor, and has pretty small portion sizes. I’d happily pay if the food was better but it’s honestly extremely bland. The service wasn’t mean or bad necessarily, there was just an overall annoyed air from the girls behind the counter that made us feel unwelcome. Won’t be coming here again.
