Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
The Wonder World Cave & Adventure Park is a thrilling amusement park that offers visitors an exciting array of attractions. The park features cave tours, an anti-gravity house, a wildlife petting park, and a train ride. Guests can also indulge in some shopping at the gift shop where they can purchase unique souvenirs like stone necklaces. Food options are available with food trucks parked curbside and a place to eat inside the gift shop area.
We recently visited again as part of a field trip. When we were there two years ago we all had a wonderful time. Our guides were extremely patient with the rowdy group we had. This time however was beyond amazing. We had the amazing guide Emily and assistant Kenny. I believe Maddie was the “announcer” getting us started and she was so great with our group. Emily was awesome throughout and Kenny pointed out some extra cool things to us throughout the tour. 10/10 recommend visiting!

I went on the cave tour with my boyfriend and had a lot of fun! The cave looked great because the lighting they put in made it so colorful and exciting. Our tour guide, Luke, was very funny and knowledgeable about the formation of the cave and its history. I wish the tour was longer so we both can explore more interesting things about nature.

My kids and I went to Wonder World back in March and we had a wonderful time. It offers many attractions such as the guides cave tour, train ride with petting zoo, anti-gravity room, gift shop, gem mining, and outside eating area with a small playground. I think it's definitely worth a visit, mainly for the caves, and for all ages. We paid extra for the gem mining but the kids loved it, and it just added to the educational experience. The anti-gravity house is trippy for sure. I would recommend this place to visit at least once!
Ciara L — Google review
We traveled to Wonderworld from Boerne, Texas and had a fabulous time! Macie was the coolest tour guide ever. She ensured the safety of everyone, gave in depth but fun facts about the cave, and had such a fun sense of humor. I cannot recommend wonderworld more!!

Came for the trick or treating in the caves event with my son it was lots of fun it’s cool to hear the backstory for many of the caves attractions and our tour guide was Ryder she was awesome! Lots of cheesy jokes about the caves and she was informational and very kind and patient with my 5 year old! Definatley recommend! Here’s a picture of Ryder and my son up on the rocks !
Alexis S — Google review
This was my first time at a cave altogether and even though I was a little scared, it was great. Our tour guide Joshua was funny and took some pictures for us at the end of the tour. Definitely wear sneakers for this. The operation times need to be updated online to avoid confusion but we were able to call and figure it out. The antigravity house was fun, I definitely felt a little dizzy after. I put 4 stars because some areas were very dirty like the hallway to the house and the bathroom
Arlette C — Google review
I genuinely enjoyed it! The price is reasonable for the experience. Josh was an amazing tour guide he was very knowledgeable and caring you can tell he really appreciated the people and his work. It’s a place I was glad to explore and experience. It is worth the stop if you are traveling and have a couple of hours to spare to stretch your legs before you continue traveling. I got to pet an emu and the place is very clean and maintained.
Amanda F — Google review
Loved this casual and fun tour! We got the full package deal to do all the offerings at the cave. Ben, our tour guide, was informative, fun and professional! Definitely get the petting zoo experience too. The deer, the donkey.. the emu! Yes! All of it is worth it and a good time for all ages!

Factory Outlets
San Marcos Premium Outlets is a massive shopping destination, comprising over 240 stores with 145 renowned brand outlets. It's a haven for shopaholics, offering luxury and designer labels at discounted prices. The outlet features an extensive range of brands including Prada, Nautica, Valentino, Ann Taylor, Lululemon, Tory Burch, Banana Republic, Gap, Nike, Gucci and more.
Lots of brand names you know and love are at these outlets. There are two side the San Marcos Premium Outlets side and the Tanger Outlets side with plenty of options. It’s almost time to Christmas Shopping🛍️.
Carmelita B — Google review
We recently visited San Marcos Premium Outlets, located roughly midway between San Antonio & Austin. It’s a massive outdoor shopping complex, so large that at sometimes, we even drove from one store to another ! Despite the 32°C heat 😰I really enjoyed the experience. The outlets feature a wide variety of premium brands and products, ranging from luxury fashion and shoes to home goods. The product quality is excellent, and prices are quite competitive😀 For tourists, tax refunds are available, however, each bill must include at least $12 in taxes paid, and you can only receive 50% of the total tax amount back. The food court is decent, though it doesn’t include all the popular fast-food chains. We had Chinese food, which was okay. Overall, it’s a must visit if you’re in or around Austin or San Antonio 👍
Kanchan A — Google review
I recently visited San Marcos Premium Outlets and was blown away by the sheer variety of brands and products available. From luxury fashion to home goods, there's something for everyone. The prices are incredibly competitive, and the quality of the products is exceptional. The outlet itself is well-designed, making it easy to find what you're looking for." _Recommendation_ If you're looking for a great shopping experience with amazing deals on top brands, San Marcos Premium Outlets is the place to go! With its vast selection, reasonable prices, and high-quality products, you won't be disappointed.

Big and spacious. Alot of good stores and deals. The weather in October was very hot but walking underneath the shade was nice
Abdulwahab A — Google review
Visited the San Marcos Premium Outlets yesterday for the second time, and it’s still a great spot for shopping. The outlet has a wide range of brands and is well-maintained, making it enjoyable to walk around. While the variety isn’t the best for every category, it’s an excellent place to find daily wear and sportswear at good prices. The layout is convenient, parking is easy, and the overall experience is pleasant. A solid shopping destination for casual and brand-name finds. 🛍️

I been coming here since I was a kid. But please talk to your younger kids employees don’t take advantage of elderly senior citizens with the tip. I guess he didn’t know my mom was with me. And he keep repeating himself 3x for tipping and he want to tap tip until I caught that young kid. I tap the skip and he gave me the look like he was upset he didn’t get away scamming an elderly senior citizen woman. What A coincidence he didn’t ask me to tip. I can imagine how many times he takes advantage of senior citizens. We need to protect our seniors citizens elderly’s. From young kids taking advantage I guess they weren’t brought up right with respect. Do better please next time.😔

We went to San Marcos premium outlets for Thanksgiving shopping. We had made a short list of specific stores to visit so the experience was good instead of being overwhelming. As you might expect it was very crowded and it took about 45 minutes to find parking - we finally parked in the overflow parking lot. Most stores also had long queues to enter the store because of how crowded it was at Thanksgiving. There’s a really good selection of stores at this outlet mall however, there are only 1-2 restaurants within the strip mall, which makes it difficult to find food/snacks when you have to spend almost the entire day in the mall because of how long it takes to get into each store. If we return, we will come prepared with protein bars, and packed snacks.😅

I went to the guest services booth in the food court it was very busy and Jayla and Donna were managing family weekend. Jayla took the time to run back and forth to help me and even gave me a coupon for Columbia and sent me to taquitos and green for the Hola profit share. These ladies are rock stars! They are majoring in marketing, give them give them a job at this mall they'll increase profits great personalities very friendly very helpful! I really should be able to post 10 stars for them!!! The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment offers a unique experience with its glass-bottom boat tours of Spring Lake. Visitors can book a 30-minute tour to marvel at the lake's depths through the transparent bottom of the boat while learning about water conservation from knowledgeable guides. The center focuses on environmental education, research, and outdoor learning, providing various exhibits for visitors to explore.
What a cool place! The glass-bottomed boat tour was the highlight. Our guide Connor was knowledgeable and engaging, we got to see lots of the animal and plant life as well as the springs feeding the lake. It was hot but the boats are fully covered so no baking in the sun! The trails around the lake and indoor aquarium were both the best kind of hands-on fun science for us and our children. Easy parking, clean bathrooms and lots of picnic areas!
Kieran C — Google review
Very small, and very cute. The boardwalk trail takes you through the wetlands—it’s maybe 15 minutes, a nice easy walk. The glass bottom boats were a ton of fun and well-worth the experience. Probably not necessary to do the extended version. Nice little aquarium. Plan to spend a few hours here—it’s charming, but not an all-day event.
Madeline C — Google review
I reviewed the boat tour separately so this review is for the free Meadows Museum worth checking out before or after your boat tour. It's a fun little place with interactive exhibits and educational information, as well as different fish and living things related to the lake. The kids enjoyed learning and seeing everything, and don't forget to visit the rooftop for some cool views!
Ciara L — Google review
Maddie was an outstanding guide on the glass bottom boat tour. She’s very knowledgeable and has a great attitude. Enjoyed the trails and the little aquarium area.
Jerry H — Google review
We bought tickets for the glass bottom boat ride and discovered a lot more they had to offer!!! The glass boat ride is amazing. We saw so many fish and turtles. It so clear and beautiful. They told us about the free aquarium and on the 3rd floor of the same building was an observation deck over Spring Lake. The view was amazing. We learned that the college owns it and most of the employees are college students. Highly recommend!!!!
Carol J — Google review
Really pretty place and I’m glad that they saved the old park. The glass bottom boats are fun. The walking path through the marsh is neat and so is the aquarium. Definitely recommend.
Dawn J — Google review
My family and I love the boat trip. We have a 12 and 21 year old guys and they enjoyed it a lot. We didn't know they have an aquarium and a wetland (free to the public) with otters. Planning to return soon
Johanna C — Google review
Plenty of parking and awesome boat tour for $12 per adult entrance. They run tours every half hour and there was no wait. The guide was very informative and really beautiful nature can be observed from the boat as well as through glass boat floor. The water is crystal clear and blue on some areas, there is also scuba divers courses there. There is a small aquarium that can be visited for free afterwards on the property. The 3rd floor has a beautiful view of the entire lake.

The Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing is located in a vintage wooden hangar from 1943 and houses a collection of airworthy historic military warbirds. Visitors can explore inside the aircraft, including the B-25 Mitchell Bomber (Yellow Rose) and the only flying Bell P-39 fighter plane in the western hemisphere (Miss Connie). The knowledgeable staff and volunteer docents are passionate about sharing their expertise, making it an educational experience for visitors.
This place is a secret treasure! We were blown away by it. Mindy gave my family a tour of all their aircraft and museum and dished out an unbelievable amount of knowledge of aircraft and history. I couldn’t believe we were able to go inside and have such a hands on experience. I would recommend this to anyone. We’ll be going back regularly.

The Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing Museum is an incredible place to visit! It was very informative, and I learned so much about World War II history. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they truly care about preserving these important stories. They run strictly on donations, so if you go, please consider giving to support their mission. It’s wonderful to see a place so dedicated to keeping World War II history alive. Highly recommend visiting!

this group came out to Denver with their B-25. it was an absolute blast to fly in an 80+ year old aircraft that was an instrumental part of WWII. definitely worth paying for the bombardier/navigator seat which allowed for time in the nose gunner position. the views from that seat were just phenomenal!

The LBJ Museum in San Marcos, Texas is a compact yet compelling destination for history enthusiasts. It focuses on the early years of the 36th President, Lyndon Baines Johnson, during his time as a college student and school teacher. The museum showcases original statues, paintings, photographs, artifacts such as a vintage voting machine from 1930, and other memorabilia from Johnson's presidency. Visitors can explore how these formative years influenced the landmark Great Society legislation that still impacts America today.
For being free and also honoring a fellow gradate from the nearby University its a wonderful museum. This museum focused on LBJ has some unique artifacts as well as information about lady bird I didn't know before, really nice place in downtown San Marcos.
Andrew H — Google review
Very nice Museum with a thorough history of LBJ from his college thru Presidential years. Information is mostly on nicely done sign boards with pictures and some display cases. Tells a lot about his accomplishment in office and his core values. Also focuses on Lady Bird’s background and accomplishments on the second floor. We were there a little over an hour. Friendly staff, a great value.
Dennis P — Google review
A very nice little Museum to honor President Lyndon Baines Johnson. The free museum is on the first floor and on the smaller side but definitely has some unique artifacts and some interesting exhibits. There is also audio of LBJ speaking and interacting with an audience playing over the PA system. Upstairs, there is a small exhibit Dedicated to President Jimmy Carter, as well as information and Exhibits on Lady Bird, President LBJ's wife. Overall a nice little nod to the President from the City of San Marcos but if you want more then you'll want to visit his official library. We finished this self-guided tour in maybe a half hour and spent maybe 5 minutes in the gift shop. A very nice place and the person on staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable.
Jason R — Google review
Was surprised to find this great little free museum in downtown San Marcos. Staff was informative and I didn't know that before politics LBJ attended Texas State to become a teacher. The city of San Marcos TX is very proud of this fact.
Jan C — Google review
Really nice fact base on LBJ's time in SouthWest Texas state....who knew he was a teacher? A real nice lady from West Virginia gave me a quick tour. ADA wheelchair accessible. Free but donations are nice. A great way to kill 30-45 mins.
Sherrl C — Google review
This was a really nice stop on the square. The lady working the front desk was very kind. The biggest plus to this museum is that it's free! I appreciated that there were so many artifacts in such a small space. I also appreciated that there was an interactive portion where you could write a response to some questions on a note card and slide it into a plastic display spot that other guests would be able to see. This museum painted LBJ as a leader and a policymaker, but it also asked museum-goers about the legacy of some of the policies he passed and whether or not they had a positive effect on the history of America. I think my favorite thing I learned was LBJ's part in NASA being able to put man on the moon. He was an interesting figure, that's for sure! I think my favorite part of the museum was LBJ's voice being played over the speaker system. It made me feel as if he were there, walking along with me as I toured the museum. Definitely worth a drop-by if you happen to be on the Square in San Marcos looking for something to do!
Brianna J — Google review
Such a nice little museum. Absolutely loved it! Definitely a cool place to check out when your downtown (also found out from one of the employees that LBJ was a history major, just like me!)

It is super small BUT it's also free. I good place to step inside for some AC! Was just shocked at how small it was.

Pizza restaurant
Pie Society is a contemporary parlor with an open kitchen that offers a variety of signature pizzas, salads, and a full bar. The menu features creative pizzas with unique names like the Eternal Flame and the Balance of Power, as well as traditional options such as pepperoni with mushrooms. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh and quality ingredients to prepare New York-style pizzas. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, guests can enjoy gourmet pizzas crafted with unique toppings in a cozy atmosphere with friendly service.
The pizza was delicious, as was the Texas goat cheese appetizer. This is a buzzy place - busy too! The staff were all friendly and made us feel welcome. We will definitely be back!
Dan W — Google review
This is my second time contemplating leaving a negative review for Pie Society, the first time when we got there for the pickup we were informed the online pickup was down and that they would replace our order. After waiting another forty minutes the pizza was finally ready, but it was missing the sausage and spinach from the original order, but with an addition we didn’t order, hair! We messaged with the manager and they got the situation resolved. Tonight was our first time going back since then, our order was placed at 8:23, pickup was at 8:53 which is when we got there. They didn’t have it out to us until after 9:20. When we opened the box it was missing the sausage again, so we took it back up and they said they would add it, after 15-20 more minutes we got the pizza back, it was now cold but we had a tiny side of sausage fit for one or two slices(pictured above), how that took them over fifteen minutes I have no idea… very disappointed with these past experiences.
Olivia H — Google review
Pretty solid food, my whole table agreed. I would say slightly overpriced for what it is, especially the custom pizzas where you pick your own toppings. The individual slices are huge, though, and they have great specials/deals on those. The inside is very nice, and very clean. Lots of space for all parties. A pretty good place that I would keep around for special nights, but probably not somewhere I’d go or order from regularly.

I recently visited Pie Society and had an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome. The atmosphere was amazing, providing a comfortable and enjoyable dining environment. Service was impressively fast, which we appreciated. The prices were decent, offering good value for the quality of food served. Speaking of the food, the pizza was both visually appealing and absolutely delicious. My daughter had a meatball sandwich, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The pizzas we ordered were equally fantastic. Overall, Pie Society exceeded our expectations in every way. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great pizza and excellent customer service.
Anthony C — Google review
I had an amazing experience at Pie Society! The pizza was absolutely delicious—easily some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The dough had incredible flavor and was cooked to perfection: crispy on the outside and full of taste throughout. The service was awesome—friendly, quick, and attentive. You can tell they put real care into their craft. I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend for any true pizza lover!
E Z — Google review
This was one of the best pizzas I had in a long time. I opted for a thin crust 1/2 pepperoni and pineapple 1/2 veggie delight. The crust had just the right amount of crunch. The beer and atmosphere perfect. I so glad my daughter has a place near her apartment where she can eat and hang with her friends. Thank you to the manager for making us feel welcome. I know we were the last ones to leave but you never made us feel rushed even though you guys were cleaning up.
Vanessa L — Google review
We really enjoy eating here when we visit our son in college. The pizza is amazing, great crust, tasty sauce. The garlic knots are really good too. They are friendly and hospitable, and honest. We left a wallet there and didn’t realize it until the next day. We called and they had the wallet with the $$ and credit cards untouched. I will definitely come back for great food and honest folks.
Joel T — Google review
The pizza was good, nice crunchy/chewy crust, and ample toppings, but they forgot to put in our order, and when they eventually put it in, it didn't include the whole order. But they were gracious enough to offer a free pizza on our next visit. Unfortunately we live over 3 hrs away, so we gave the coupon to our daughter who goes to school there. At least she and her roomates will get a free pizza if and when they need it.

The Root Cellar Cafe is a charming eatery located in the historic Donaldson building, offering a relaxed dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. From homemade soups and sandwiches to wood-fired pizzas and desserts, the cafe's offerings are sure to satisfy any craving. First time here on 6/2/2025. Celebration lunch for 52nd anniversary. Great service. Lots of attention but not pressing. Good menu options. My wife had the pesto pasta and salad. I went with the Brewhouse Burger. Good portions. Fun place to eat with windows at sidewalk level. Parking was easy at mid-day but could be tricky early.

We had our wedding at the Root Cellar Cafe in their beautiful Uproot event space — and it was truly perfect! It was actually the first wedding ever held in that space, and we feel so lucky to have been a part of that milestone. From start to finish, the experience was incredible. The space was cozy, elegant, and just right for our intimate 3-hour celebration (20 people). Aubrey, the private event manager, was absolutely amazing to work with. She communicated clearly, listened to our ideas, and adjusted everything to match our vision. Her attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism made planning so much easier and stress-free. We also want to give a huge shoutout to the entire team who served during the event — they were wonderful! Attentive, kind, and incredibly efficient, they made sure everything ran smoothly and that our guests were taken care of throughout the evening. Everyone worked together seamlessly to create the most relaxed, joyful, and memorable experience for us. The food was absolutely perfect — delicious, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully customized to accommodate all of our guests’ dietary restrictions without any issues. Thank you to Aubrey and the entire Root Cellar team for making our wedding day so special. Highly recommend this hidden gem in San Marcos for any private event!

Oh my GOODNESS!! The Root seller has done it again. My wife and I are excellent cooks and everyone raves about our cooking but when I wanna go to a place for a breakfast and want something excellent, I come here! My go to is there Brazilian French toast. I add fresh strawberries and blueberries to it with a side of sausage patties and it is the chef’s kiss. The flavors are vibrant, and the textures are rich. My wife, had the Belgian waffle with the added chicken. Fantastic. The waffle is crisp but not hard and the chicken is well seasoned and whatever they batter the chicken in is light, crispy, and magnificently flavored. And then our waitress Ella brought over some Sriracha honey sauce paired phenomenally with the chicken, giving it a sweet and spicy kick. I find it hard to reward a lot of places with high praise because often I can cook better at home and don’t have to pay an exorbitant price. I come here for breakfast because it’s marvelous and I didn’t have to cook it.

Food looked delicious but taste was meh. Chicken and buiscuit were dry/ overcooked and the buiscuit was burnt in the bottom. Brazilian french toasts were ok. Nothing to write home about it. Coffee was horrible. Service was very slow. Will never coming back here.

American restaurant
Palmer's Restaurant Bar & Courtyard is a long-standing dining spot in San Marcos, Texas, known for its Southern-inspired cuisine and charming courtyard. The restaurant is located inside a beautifully renovated 1920s building and offers a blend of New Mexican and New Orleans cuisine. It has been a popular choice for business dinners, family gatherings, lively lunches, and romantic date nights since 1978.
We had a delicious dinner and our server was friendly, knowledgeable and overall great. The manager, Monte, came by 2x asking if we needed anything. He learned we were fresh in from Boston and gave us all kinds of insider tips to the area! I ordered the Signature Chicken which I never would have (as I cook chicken all the time!)but.. .The goat cheese and preach preserves were outstanding! We loved everything about this restaurant!

Nice place, but dated in decor and dark. Started with the Brie appetizer. It was nice, but got cold very quickly. I wouldn’t get that again. Loved the short rib enchiladas and the Texas margarita. Enchiladas were served with rice and zucchini, which I love, but would rather have had rice and black beans. Service was amazing. We came in a little after 4 pm and were asked if we had a reservation. Restaurant was almost empty, but maybe they expect you to make a reservation.

From the moment we walked up, we were mesmerized by the vibe of this restaurant/bar! The waitress, Paris P, was a fantastic server. The food was well worth the wait, and the special purchase of a Bourbon Gift for Dad (1806 Old Fashioned, rocks glass and pecans) was a great touch! Will def I nicely return!!

We came for cocktails and at at the cocktail bar section. We only ordered the charcuterie and salmon to share. Both dishes were good but in my strongest opinion, not worth the price. As for the cocktails, we each had a variety of martinis and all were superb! Will definitely come back just for the ambiance and cocktails.

This sophisticated restaurant on the outskirts of downtown San Marcos wraps around a beautiful courtyard. They have numerous tables in several dining rooms as well as a bar area. Their menu is reasonably priced for how thoughtfully composed and executed the meals are. I enjoyed the pecan crusted chicken and look forward to trying the meatloaf. They also have an extensive menu of desserts and cocktails, particularly different Mexican martinis. They have a small parking lot alongside the building and overflow in an adjacent lot.
Josh — Google review
First time guest. Sat in the bar area. Andrew was our bartender/server. We usually try to visit upscale nice restaurants on our Sunday outings. Palmer's did not disappoint. Andrew made some great recommendations for our meals. We had the 3 egg omelette with crawfish, variety of veggies and hollandaise sauce. Potatoes, crispy bacon that was probably the most perfect and flavorful that I have had in a long time. Only complaint was the potatoes were not hot. But I could actually overlook that minor issue because they tasted so good even at room temperature. We had a salad with the vinegarette dressing which was a nice surprise if flavor. I'm not a crouton eater but these must have been house made they were so good. Not sure they were but I was surprised. We also had the pancakes that were the closest to homemade. They weren't full of artificial flavor or vanilla extract to cover the cheap taste. They were so good you could eat them without butter or syrup. (Well to be honest I need the syrup but my wife didn't.) I do like to relax and enjoy a few drinks as well. I tried a variety of drinks from the Apricot buck, Mimosa and a Bee string. They were all good. My next visit I plan on a few other of my favorites. The juice is fresh squeezed and they infuse a variety of about 7-9 flavors of vodka. Something new for me was the flavor infused ice balls. The atmosphere was comfortable and cool walking in but as the day continued the room felt warm. I'm sure due to the customers and the door to the courtyard being used. One plus for me was that the owner/manager Monte and Kyle visited the table. We were welcomed and asked how our dinning experience was going today. You could tell from the conversation and the true concern they were interested in our visit. I look forward to next trip. This was truly an A+ experience in dinning. I already look forward to my next visit. Probably later this week or Friday for the early hours. We did have a slow Sunday so hung around for a little bit. I think the bartender got a little frustrated but it not like it was overly crowded and we were taking up another customer tip. Sorry if that was the issue but overall it was a good time Even though you may say not the case. Sometimes reading people is easy.

Hands down one of if not the best dinning experience I have had in San Marcos. From the lovey Host Claire opening the door for us and seating us on the beautiful patio with the pretty fountain! Our sever was Alyssa and she was great! Always refilling our drinks or the 3 baskets of bread we had.. Even had chats with the other severs Sami and Kaitlyn they were very nice! Don't even mention the size of the Chicken Fried Steak was definitely bigger then my stomach shout out to Wyatt in the kitchen! Big thanks to Willie in the kitchen for giving us a delicious complimentary birthday new york cheesecake that came out on a fancy plate with a candle! Along with the others the Chicken Pesto Flatbread was another loved food choice at our table! Also had a chat with the manager Kyle! Sounds like he has alot of cool stories! Shoutout to my son and his girlfriend for picking this wonderfull spot for my birthday will definitely be back!! Thanks again Palmers!!

Me and my boyfriend have been to Palmers multiple times, and will continue to come! Truly one of our favorite restaurants ever. We spent his 22nd birthday here, and our dining experience was amazing. Our server, Sam, gave such good recommendations and he was very thoughtful throughout our time there.

Bistro
Nestled along East Hopkins Street, the Blue Dahlia Bistro is a delightful European-style restaurant that prides itself on offering delectable, wholesome dishes made with locally sourced and organic ingredients. The cozy eco-cafe presents a seasonal menu featuring market-driven cuisine like fresh salads, fruits, herbs, vegetables, organic chicken, sustainable seafood, prime grass-fed meats, and homemade desserts.
After hearing all the great things about this place I was very pleased to get to dine here for breakfast. Menu is well mixed and yet simple. I had the waffles and they were perfectly sweet. Bonus was enjoying the secret garden area and feeling like we were in a Caribbean country. It’s what you make of it.

To me this Bistro is like a beautiful, unique flower in the middle of a bunch of cactus! Everything is great, the design makes you feel in the old town of UK or France. The staff are professional and, most importantly, very kind. The food is well made and prices are reasonable. Lastly, I really miss drinking coffee with a glass cup, finally a place that has them. Thank you guys and I'll be back definitely.

10/10 would recommend! The hummus was fabulous. I had the smoked salmon dill toast and it was so fresh and light. We called and the owner was able to accommodate our huge 14 person party. The owner is gorgeous and so friendly. Couldn’t recommend this place more. My grandparents loved the crab cake salad. Cant wait to come back. Make sure to check out the secret garden.

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. We sat outside in the Secret Garden. There were several items on the menu that I wanted to order, so I'll definitely be back! I ended up getting the blueberry blintzes and an iced matcha latte.

Very good brunch in San Marcos. Pricey, but not Austin pricey. Service with a smile. Good food takes time so be prepared to wait and enjoy the atmosphere.

This was a great spot for brunch!!! The European Bistro theme was clear the moment we walked up to the front. When we sat down we were greeted promptly and knew we were in good hands! The coffees were prompt and delicious and the food was fast and great. We will make it a regular spot!

This is my new favorite brunch Bristol to go too. The food is great the mimosa even better. Love the different flavors they offer. I will definitely be recommending for my friends and family to go here. Can't wait for my next visit.

Love this place. The food punches way above its price point, and they know how to handle allergies. Great pasta & salads, free bread.

Pub
Ivar's River Pub is a laid-back indoor-outdoor joint in downtown San Marcos, offering updated Texas comfort food and drinks with picturesque views of the scenic San Marcos River. The pub provides an inviting and relaxed atmosphere for both locals and visitors to unwind while enjoying a wide selection of ice-cold beers, handcrafted cocktails, and specialty spirits. Whether you're there for lunch, brunch, or dinner, Ivar's menu offers unique dishes with generous portions that cater to various preferences.
Tried Ivar’s during a recent trip, and…we loved it so much we brought friends back with us to experience it as well! This restaurant is located across from the Rio Vista Park (one of the most popular access points to the San Marcos River), which means you’ll have a beautiful view should you choose from their ample outdoor seating. There are multiple food options ranging from southern comfort food to more generic American options. We enjoyed a salad with grilled shrimp, as well as a blackened chicken rap. I also recommend the hydrilla drink if you’re looking for a refreshing, non-alcoholic signature drink. Don’t worry, if you’re looking for alternatives to that there’s definitely plenty of beer, wine, and cider options as well. The staff was friendly and super helpful. P.S Sorry for the lighting in the menu pictures! At night they have these blue lights on, which is the only thing I wasn’t really a fan of given that blue light bothers quite a few people’s eyesight.

I was craving a delicious burger that wasn't from a chain or fast food restaurant, so my friend and I decided to stop by this place. I'm glad we did because this burger was exactly what I was looking for. It was perfectly cooked, and the fresh lettuce and tomatoes, along with the cheese that was melted to perfection, really hit the spot. I wish I had remembered to add bacon. The service was a bit slow; we waited for a refill that never came. However, it was a busy Saturday and a holiday weekend. This restaurant is located right by the river, which adds to the foot traffic, and parking can be a nightmare. They do have a parking attendant to manage the vehicles, which we appreciated. I probably won't return until after the river tubing season is over.

Beautiful scenery, it wasn’t too hot and it wasn’t too cold. Today was overall a great day to be out on the patio getting food. First time here! My only complaint is the food didn’t seem to be fresh it seemed as it was leftovers , the temperature of the food seemed to be room temp. I was also disappointed in the queso and guacamole burger while the burger was very well seasoned the cook put so much guacamole it just over powered everything and just became too much.

So glad we stopped here!! We always stop somewhere on our way back to Houston from New Braunfels. We have eaten so many disappointing meals, but this place was great!! We came in a Sunday around 5:30 pm, and were immediately seated at a scenic spot on the patio. Had so much fun watching everyone enjoying the river below. Our waiter John was very attentive and gave great recommendations. All the food was amazing. We had the brisket nachos, the smash burger and the pork belly sandwich. Beer prices were also reasonable. Will definitely be stopping here again.

Fantastic little pub on the river. Gluten free options, even dessert! Staff is friendly and courteous, and don't interrupt you unless they notice a drink or a plate is empty. They have a dog friendly porch, and the wait staff is attentive to the dogs too! Ice water bowls on hot days!

I loved everything about my experience at Ivars! Right off the bat, Hamlet greeted me in the parking lot and was so friendly and fun. I was looking for a new dog friendly place to eat and the deck was the perfect atmosphere for my pup and the view of the river was gorgeous. Our server Lydia was very attentive and a great communicator! I had a lot of questions and requests and she was friendly and accommodating. One of my new favorite spots!

What a great place to eat delicious food and enjoyed the sounds of running water in background and music inside. Definitely a must stop kind of place next time your passing through. The service was excellent and we will definitely be returning soon. I recommend Ivar's seafood platter.
