Nature & Parks
State government office
Situated on the banks of the Verde River, Dead Horse Ranch State Park offers a variety of outdoor activities such as swimming, fishing, and hiking. Located near major population centers like Prescott, Phoenix, and Flagstaff, it serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby attractions including Oak Creek Canyon, Tuzigoot National Monument, and Jerome State Historic Park. The park's proximity to natural wonders like the Grand Canyon and Sedona makes it a popular destination for tourists.
Stayed in a cabin last weekend. The booking, check-in, cancellation ( I booked 2 & cancelled 1) and deposit refund were a smooth easy online process. The camp host Bill was gracious and engaging when we bothered him at close to 9 at night. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The area next to our cabin with a fire ring felt secluded even though every cabin was full. The bathroom/ showers look brand new and were kept clean and stocked. We could not have asked for a better experience! So thank you to all of you who work so hard to keep this area pristine!

Nice park, but the "accessible features" it brags about are a joke! Yes there are ramps, but using them in a wheelchair leaves A LOT to be desired. The biggest joke was the ADA campsites. Elevated platforms made of composite slats... no way to stake down the tent? And the ramp to the tent is blocked off? You have to get past the showers to use the toilet? One campground host was drunk and another couldn't keep a dog on a leash. The gate attendant was constantly outside the office smoking. Made the best of it, but definitely will not be back or recommend to anyone who rolls... shame!!

First time camping at Dead horse ranch campground. The bathrooms are some of the nicest campground bathrooms I’ve experienced. Very clean and well maintained. We camped in spot 117 which wasn’t bad, but the light from the bathroom was very bright and impacted our star gazing and sleeping. If you are going during the summer months, the campsites have very little shade so it can be very warm until the sun goes down. There’s also a lot of car traffic around the campsites. On the positive side, We enjoyed using the dish washing sink and the hiking trails all around the campground and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back!

A little disappointed that they raised the prices but still had a great time. It's a beautiful park with plenty to offer. Views of the desert and red rocks of Sedona in the distance. Plus plenty of shade and trails right to the Verde River. There's an abundance of wildlife.

This was a neat little State Park that my family attended as part of an invitation to a Foundation's event. The roads were were good to drive on-no gravel, and there was a play ground, horse stable and two ponds that we saw. People can fish, dogs can walk as long as they are leashed, and the restroom facilities were well maintained. The female restrooms had sinks, mirrors, air dryers and were comparable to a clean restroom you would find in a store or mall.
Jody M — Google review
We enjoy this park a lot. We love the diversity and all the hiking. We like to ride our bikes as well. It is beautiful and there are three campgrounds for RVs and one for tents only. You can have tents in the other campgrounds as well. They keep it up OK. We think they could do a bit better on trail and site clean up, related to weeds and such. There is a nice path in the middle of Cooper's Hawk and Red tail but they need attention. The Lagoons area was great this trip. The hosts were great. Love riding our bikes into Old Town Cottonwood. If you like to fish this is a great spot.

I had been eagerly anticipating an overnight camping and fishing trip with a group of young boys, aiming to provide them with an outdoor experience away from screens and video games. We reserved two adjacent sites in the Blackhawk Loop, intending to set up tents and enjoy the night under the stars. Shortly after arrival, the camp host approached our group and stated—without prior discussion or verification—that only two tents were permitted per site. She informed us that if we did not comply immediately, authorities would be called. While direct communication can be appreciated, the delivery was abrupt and offered no opportunity for clarification or resolution. Per the campground’s official website and reservation details, our group was within all stated limits: • No more than 10 people per site (across both reserved sites) • Only 2 vehicles per site • No explicit restriction on tents per site Nowhere in the published rules is a two-tent-per-site limit mentioned. We were fully prepared to adhere to occupancy and vehicle guidelines and believed we were in compliance. Unfortunately, the host did not engage in any problem-solving or offer alternative solutions. There was no attempt to verify our reservations, review the rules together, or explore accommodations—only an ultimatum. As a result, we were forced to pack up and leave, disrupting a meaningful weekend planned for the boys. I regret not obtaining the host’s name at the time. I am submitting this review in hopes that management will: 1. Clarify tent policies on the website and at check-in to prevent future confusion. 2. Train staff to handle rule enforcement with professionalism, transparency, and a willingness to assist guests in complying. This experience was deeply disappointing, not because of the rules themselves, but due to the lack of communication, flexibility, and customer service. I sincerely hope this feedback leads to improvements so other families and youth groups can enjoy a welcoming camping experience.

Ancient Ruins
Tuzigoot National Monument, located on Tuzigoot Road in Clarkdale, offers a captivating glimpse into the lives of the Sinagua people who inhabited the area for thousands of years. The site features a pueblo with over 100 rooms and a towering structure that showcases impressive ancient architecture and human ingenuity. Situated atop a rugged hilltop overlooking the Verde River, this ancient village dates back to 1000 A.D.
It's a must see if you are in the area! Very cool to walk where our ancient history is. The ruins are well maintained and very interesting to explore. There is more up and down walking here, wear good shoes! We got a pass for this and the castle and it was cheaper. Bathrooms here and visitor center. Amazing views! And lots of info to help you imagine what like was like 1000 years ago!

What an incredible structure. It’s a must visit if you’re visiting the area. It’s fascinating, putting yourself in the shoes of the ancient ones who built this place. And the collection of artifacts in the visitor’s center is super impressive.

It was pretty awesome, the walk in mid day is pretty intense though if your not used to the heat Seeing the room at the top though is totally worth it There is also a small museum nearby which has some cool things and some very lovely rangers to talk to
Nemisisbeta — Google review
Worth a visit if you're in the area. National park free with park pass. Small museum and gift shop with friendly, helpful staff. Paved walk up to the reconstructed pueblo, not suitable for wheeled vehicles. Short walk around the ruins, inside, and on the roof for photos. Restrooms, water bottle filler, plenty of parking. Go early to avoid the heat in summer.
M P — Google review
We thought this was super cool. Plan on spending about 2 hours to "get everything". I don't remember if they took my America the Beautiful pass, but that means that if they charged us it wasn't much and it was worth it.

This is an important cultural site with a nice walk around the dwellings and interesting artifacts in the museum.

Fascinating view into the history of the Verde valley. Only takes about 30 minutes to see the small museum and ruins. I was impressed by the variety of artifacts from the site, especially the large pottery jars. Make sure you also see Montezuma Well and Montezuma Castle.

Excellent historical site with explorable ruins and museum. Gorgeous views! You can keep receipt of paid entry to Tuzigoot or Montezuma to visit the other site.

The Clemenceau Heritage Museum, managed by the Verde Historical Society, is located in the historic Clemenceau Public School building. The museum showcases the heritage and artifacts of the Verde Valley, with exhibits including early 20th century kitchens, bedrooms, classrooms, and a collection of photographs and artifacts used by European settlers during the 19th century.
Fascinating look into the past of the area. Friendly docents with good educational talks.

Such a wonderful place to visit! The staff were incredibly friendly and gave us a great tour, sharing the history of the building. We especially loved exploring the old classrooms and the train room — definitely our favorite parts! Best part, it’s free!
Lina H — Google review
The entry fee is by donation. Which we were happy to give to support the museum. Which is located in an old school. A lot of history in pictures and literature throughout the halls of the building. Was very impressed with the train track. Showing the multiple tracks, smelters and towns. So much detail to show the history of the towns.
Leopoldo R — Google review
An interesting museum with surprising exhibits around every corner. Delightful diorama with local trains and buildings. Antique dolls, doll houses with period furniture. Collectibles from the time period, historic photos of the area.
Sheri T — Google review
Smallish museum with lots of photos of the mining history of the area. Highlight is the working train layout that depicts all the local towns. Don't forget to visit the gift shop, where agate slices and other stones are half the price as those you'll find in Sedona.
Alisa S — Google review
Great little museum a lot of history there there’s a gentleman that has built a scale of the three cities with all of the train where they go and what they pick up

We came for the Halloween event and it was absolutely wonderful. The museum is in a beautiful old school building, featuring a fully restored classroom, model train set, and plenty of displays about the history of the small town of Clemenceau. Blazin' M Ranch, situated in Historic Old Town Cottonwood, has been delivering an authentic Old West experience for over two decades. The ranch features a replica Western Frontier Town with various interactive activities like ropin lessons, shootin lessons, and a critter walk where visitors can interact with animals. Additionally, it offers cowboy shows, dinner theater, and chuckwagon chow geared towards families.
What a great experience! Let me say that again “EXPERIENCE” this isn’t just dinner. My son and I were in a road trip he’s 12 so as you can imagine he rolls his eyes at everything. He ABSOLUTELY loved this. There is something to do for everyone from mechanical bull riding, an escape room, miniature golf, a good old fashioned tractor ride, BB gun target shooting, axe throwing and more. I was so impressed! The set up is just like the old west. Plenty of seating around the “town” if you have elderly guests who need a break. The dinner was incredible delicious juicy chicken with fall off the boat ribs!!! The BBQ sauce is out of this world I bought a bottle and wish I bought more. Great drinks if you want an adult beverage. The show was so fun! Don’t let the cost discourage you. It’s worth every penny. We just went to meet the teacher and when they asked what did you do this summer the Blazin M Ranch always came up. Family owned and operated. There is pride in everything they do.

Oh my goodness we had a blast! Our normal cup of tea is the casino. Lately my husband and I have been going through a rough patch after being together for 38 years. I searched for something different for us to do, came across Blazin M Ranch. Let me tell you the atmosphere was so welcoming from the moment they opened the gates! I almost felt like we just got invited to a friends ranch for so much fun and great homemade food and don’t even get me started on the amazing entertainment show they put on for us. The owners were so inspiring to me a husband and wife and they worked so hard and entertained all of us. Even came by and asked how are meal was. Seeing them work together made me remember my husband is my true partner in life. Thank you to the owners and they worked so wonderful employees for taking us out of a rough patch! God bless all of you! We will be back! Kevin and Jeannie McGuire

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Blazin M. Its really good family entertainment. We did ax 🪓 throwing & the escape room. There's a mechanical bull you can ride, a photography place to dress in western wear & have a photo taken, a small bar for beer, wine, & mixed drinks, a ping pong table, miniature golf, & there's a small museum near Ax throwing. It was so fun. Food was amazingly delicious. Bbq'd chicken, ribs, coleslaw, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn bread and a slice of cake. And you can go back for seconds, too! The show was so fun, lots of great music and laughs.

First and foremost I’d like to thank the staff for their amazing hospitality. Our family of 10 was treated very kindly. Our children were lucky enough to ring the dinner bell! The facility is gorgeous and well maintained. The extracurricular activities provided were a hit with our family. The food is probably too good, seconds are nearly impossible to resist! The show that the performers put on after dinner was so fun and very engaging. Overall this was a great experience. Our children loved it and we’ll cherish the memories made at the Blazing M ranch! Something fun to do near Sedona, we booked this on a whim and really glad we did. About a 30 mins drive but very much worth it. Lots of fun and games - the prickly pear margaritas and the little escape room were our favourites. We booked the 5pm slot and there was about 90 mins to enjoy before dinner and the show. Hugely entertaining. The staff there were excellent. We were a little disappointed as they forgot to give us our photos which we had paid for with our VIP upgrade but given the effort put in couldn't take away a star. Really fun!

A rootin' tootin' good time for the whole family. The music show is lots of fun but is likely to be more appreciated by the adults due to the song selection. The little old western town they have created is quaint with lots to see and do before the show. The food was incredible and the staff friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the trip.(A local, family owned business.)
Lauren L — Google review
Took my dad here for his birthday. The pre-dinner activities were so much fun! The VIP experience was worth every penny! The show was hilarious! It was chilly and the fire pits were awesome! Will definitely go back.

Quiet place on the outskirts of Sedona. Nice location and perfect place to unwind after all the energy in Sedona. There were a lot more places here than I thought there would be and everything is within a short driving distance. Not much for night life though.

Cool place to walk around and do some local shopping. Very quiet on a Tuesday and many closed shops/restaurants. Get out there and support your local merchants.

Wow - what a transformation. For my tastes Cottonwood is rising fast. Snobby California get over yourself. Great experiences can happen for normal people in the Verde Valley without emptying your bank account pretending to be Silicon Valley rich. Cottonwood is a great place for hardworking people looking for an authentic wine experience delivered by passionate locals.
Scott N — Google review
Beautiful, historical and fun town. Although the area was originally inhabited by the Sinagua and followed by the Spanish, it is now more reminiscent of the mining epoch and its wild west forebearers. Surrounded by the Verde Valley this historic town is nestled in one of Arizona’s most beautiful valleys. The town as a whole, from it townspeople, the shops, the restaurants make for a pleasant, homey and inviting ambience for couples or families alike. You can go really west with the likes of Blazin’ Bar Ranch, walk the town shops and enjoy its hospitality, or even have great eats whether Cowboy, Mexican or Pub food. Cottonwood is a great day trip for Phoenicians and a great weekend getaway for anyone wanting either or tranquil repose or some rip-roaring fun. We love Cottonwood, we know you will too.

Winery' taste testing all up and down main Street. Restaurants , bars ,music, a park for hiking down to the verde river where u can relax in the shade of Cottonwood trees , blue skies peeks through the branches. Never crowded Theres a small market , A store that sells nothing but glitter .everything was glittered and I mean everything. There's a hippie shop with all kinds of fun stuff , .sketches of Bob Marley and Gerry Garcia by local artist. There is another store w/ beautiful artwork .wWrought iron work , things made from local tree stumps, jewelry,Inlaid wood tables ,fantasy artwork . One particular artist had a dream of a dagger sketched it immediatly after waking and now he has a collection of artwork for sale.Alot of the art has a story the artist conveys to you . Theres always live music somewhere or a good sound system in bars and on patios almost everyday. Listen for the church bell at the Belfry Restaurant.( once a church ). When the bell rings, which can be heard all thru out the town you have 5 minutes to get in there and order a beer for 1/2 price. Fojol Brothers bar / restaurant, food truck service and old long buses for rides in the desert w/ a D.J set up, disco lights on board or a live band will make u dance the night away on a bus .! The staff is encouraged to crazily dress up for work. This place only serve beer and wine also a food truck and healthy bar food served in this fun place. Bocce by the old stone bridge . A Big fire pit outside.good places to get together for gourmet pizza and wine.full bar. Martinis r their specialty drink, different one everyday. Price is right too. Crema Craft Kitchen is a laid-back spot in Historic Old Town Cottonwood, offering a light breakfast and lunch menu along with gelato, craft beer, and coffee. The restaurant is the sixth venture for Michelle and Eric Jurisin, located in two historic prohibition-era buildings with an attached courtyard. The modern design of the eatery incorporates decorative touches that highlight its storied past.
I'm so glad to find this brunch place in this small town. I loved the breakfast burrito that I had. Since the town is a tourist destination, there was a small wait until we finally got a table but it was very much worth it. The hot chocolate was made so perfectly that I didn't want to drink it and ruin the top. The atmosphere was also amazing. Our service was great and overall we had a really good experience.

This is definitely a great place to go if you are in Cottonwood. My husband loved the cheesy hash browns, I also brought my sister back the Arizona burrito and she loved it. Great atmosphere, the food was great and Amy was awesome behind the bar. Andrea the owner is very personable and my husband got a cinnamon roll for his birthday. We would definitely go back again.

FABULOUS Breakfast tacos! They grill up the corn tortilla just enough so it isn't mush but it isn't a hard shell. There's a sauce / aoili that makes them pop. Super flavorful (like a boom boom sauce). Perfect amount of cheese. Really, really great dish! The pumpkin pancakes (3) were very tasty, too. Cream cheese frosting, served with syrup. We found parallel street parking a couple buildings down the block. We ate on the cozy outside patio - lots to look at. There's a large inside patio area (covered or maybe AC - I only walked through it) and a main restaurant area. There was a wait at 11am on a Sun, but being 2 of us we had immediate seating on the outside patio. Would love to eat there again! Cute boutiques for shopping in Old Town Cottonwood, too.

Drove up to Cottonwood for the weekend getaway looking for a place to have brunch or breakfast. This place was highly recommended although they did mention that the service wasn’t that great but the food was awesome. I totally disagree. Food was awesome. Service was awesome. I was put on the waiting list, the host mention it will be about 30 minutes but it wasn’t it was about 10 to 15 minutes tops, What I look for in a restaurant is good service and good food. Yes I got both. Eva who was a waitress was amazing. Always came checking on us. Make sure we were OK if or if we needed anything. That’s the kind of service you want. I ordered the breakfast tacos, my girlfriend ordered the croissant egg sandwich, a friend of mine order the traditional breakfast, which is look really good and I ordered the mimosa flight, which was delicious. I would definitely be coming back.

Really cool little spot with a beautiful patio space in Old Town Cottonwood. The food and drinks were excellent and the service was good. Our server was a little loopy and blatantly honest, which I like, and she was still a lot of fun. When asked a question she would reply with I don't care for that, but you might. Or just simply an I don't know. All acceptable answers in my book. I'd rather that than you lie to me. A little coaching with the wait staff here could easily make this one of if not the best restaurant in town. Things like answering questions with I don't care for that dish because of "xyz" or I don't know, but I will find out and let you know might go over better with your guests. We had a great experience regardless and would definitely dine here again. Keep up the good work guys you're killing it.

I ordered food for pick up, I live right down the street. I’ve always loved Crema for as long as they’ve been open! But I have been consistently disappointed by there hash browns and I finally decided to share. I always get their eggs Benedict and I switched from their English muffin to a biscuit for it, and I asked for plain hash browns. The eggs Benedict was yummy, but the hash browns look like they had been sitting out for hours… grey, dried out and flavorless and this unfortunately is not the first time… it’s disappointing when you paid $21 with tip and your side dish is inedible….

Cute pizza bar. We had the meatball app and Carbonara pizza. Both very good choices. I had the local Flagship IPA and I was very happy with it. Perfect with the pizza. Our service was great. We did have to wait a small bit and that is what you see in the photos- the red seating area in the back. Very comfortable and we were offered water as we waited. Great atmosphere. 2 bar areas, normal bar and pizza bar for addl seating. They do have outdoor seating with misting fans.

A Flavorful Surprise in Cottonwood! --- We had dinner at Bocci and were absolutely delighted. My husband declared it the “best pizza I haven’t had in a long time!”—and he meant it. The crust was perfectly crisp, the toppings balanced and bold. Even the appetizer bread won me over—and I rarely give compliments in that category. It was that good. My friend and I sipped on prickly pear and strawberry margaritas, both refreshingly bright and beautifully crafted. Each sip felt like a toast to the evening. The ambiance was relaxed yet lively, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Bocci is a gem—whether you're craving standout pizza, inventive cocktails, or just a cozy evening with great food and company. We’ll be back!

Very nice place to eat and drink in Cottonwood. We did have a bit of a wait, but that's because everyone knows about this place. I had a wood fired pizza. Very delicious! My wife had a salad with fresh veggies. She loved it. Generous helpings. Prices were reasonable as well. Everything here was great. I will definitely be back!

Oh my goodness we had this pizza last night and wow the flavor of that thing! It was so good I didn’t get a picture before we started eating! The pizza was Cire’s and wow with a bit of chili oil it’ll have you stuffed. We also got the artichoke and spinach bruschetta for an appetizer and the roasted beet and arugula salad to start off (pizza was last). All for a great price (Total $55 ish) for two people!

Loved this food and wine immersion experience! Excellent food, well played for a good price. Large wine, beer and cocktail selection too. You can see into the kitchen and the wine pressing area. Every tables has a good view. Indoor or outdoor seating. There’s also a funicular that takes you did to the street for gelato! Dogs welcome at the outdoor seating. Huge parking lot. We ordered the pizza which was a very generous 12 inches. The lunch special was a huge portion of chicken Parmesan. Thank Jeremy for being an excellent server! Will definitely come again.

I was visiting with my in laws who are in their 70s. The place has 4 to 5 flights of stairs from street entrance but they have a lift available...for a fee. They should provide free lift for folks over 65. Additionally, after climbing the steps, only then did we see a parking lot and entrance at the top. The workers below did not provide that option. Great views though, wine is ok.

Sitting atop a hill in Old Town Cottonwood, you can’t miss this place. You could trek the daunting stairs or take the cable car! We purchased the custard so we could ride the cable car for free. The views are amazing and I would recommend a sunset date on their outside patio area. We opted for a flight of white wine and a flight of rose, both were delightful. After enjoying our time, a few people got hungry and ordered pizza. Great staff and a great vibe. We went on a Tuesday and it wasn’t busy.

Amazing views and setting. Pet friendly patio area. Loved the no smoking environment. We tried several wine flights and found some favorites that were terrific. The food was excellent, elegant and not overpriced. Our server Lisa was outstanding and prompt on service. Thank you and a shout out to the master multitasker… we will be back next time in Cottonwood

This place is overrated. The wines aren’t good, and the service is more or less acceptable. It looks cool because of the property’s size, design, and infrastructure, and if you buy ice cream in the entrance, you don’t have to pay for the lift. A for an effort, but the food and wine need more work. Especially the wine-no flavors, and most of it tastes like vinegar.

The patio offers a beautiful view. The inside is modern AZ casual. The food is on point. Fresh and thoughtful. Of course the wine tasting is good. Nice non-alcoholic menu. We split a salad and bruschetta. And there was plenty of food. God service.

I recently moved to Sedona and visited Merkin Vineyards in Cottonwood twice within two weeks....that’s how good it is. My first visit was just for a drink at the bar with a friend, and we shared the lamb chops, which were absolutely delicious. That alone made me want to come back for a full dinner experience. I returned a week later with another friend, and although I didn’t make it before sunset, I highly recommend planning your visit around that time. The views from the restaurant look like they’d be beautiful during golden hour. Our server (whose name I, unfortunately, didn’t catch) was wonderful, very knowledgeable, warm, and gave a great breakdown of the menu for both of us. He also knew the wine list inside and out. I love that their wines are made in-house, and they even have a room with the barrels where the wine is being fermented. Such a nice touch. The food? Amazingly delicious 😋 😍 👌🏾 pizza was extremely flavorful, the calamari was perfectly cooked, and everything we ordered came out fresh and delicious. We finished with the tiramisu, which was the perfect ending to a great dinner. Overall: excellent service, beautiful ambiance, not crowded on the night we visited, and truly delicious food. Definitely a place I’d recommend and return to.

This place is fantastic! Excellent, clean farm-to-table food! And, the wine? I was absolutely blown away by how good it is! It’s as good, if not better than the wine I’ve had in Napa, Sonoma, Russian River and Paso Robles! Ask for Nigel! He’s a fantastic and knowledgeable and engaging server! I will be going back and recommending this place to anyone and everyone! Thank you, Merkin!

Cafe
Old Town Red Rooster Cafe is a charming, casual spot in Cottonwood that has been a local favorite since it opened in 2010. The cafe offers classic American and Southwest style dishes for breakfast and lunch, along with breakfast cocktails, local beer, and wine. With indoor and outdoor seating, the cafe provides a sunny and relaxed ambiance where locals gather to catch up over coffee.
Red Rooster is the best Brunch spot! It's decorated with fun arts vibes. They have big patio and they're dog friendly. They always have great music to make a fun vibe. Every employee greets you with a smile. They attend to every need and go above and beyond to make sure your experience is wonderful. The food is well priced, it comes out at a fast paced and the quality is always spot on. They make the best drinks and they have alcohol. I recommend to friends, family and tourists.

Going to the Red Rooster Cafe was a delightful surprise. The traditional Eggs Benedict were absolutely delicious! My girlfriend ordered baked oatmeal, which she had never had, and she loved it. And they had almond milk, which made it even better. The staff was very friendly and efficient!

Sierra, the wonderful waitress makes us feel so welcome. We loved the food, the service, and the eclectic decor.

We went here based on a recommendation from our hotel. It was a cute place, and we were seated immediately. Since we had never been it took us a few minutes to read the menu and decide. The waitress said she’d be back but didn’t until we asked someone else. She then made it sound like it was because we were still reading the menu….no apology. Most of the time the staff were standing around and chatting with some regulars or each other. We both ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy (although it tasted more like a hamburger gravy than sausage) which was extremely greasy and salty. Neither of us could finish the meal. The biscuit seems to have been warmed up on the grill (in grease?).The eggs were done as ordered but grease slid off of them too. Not a place I’d recommend or eat at again.

The avocado pesto toast and the fall mocktail... delicious. Reasonable prices for brunch and super friendly staff. LGBTQ+ ally. Highly recommend!

We came here for lunch after a local friend recommended this spot. He said “order the Reuben!” And he was right! I enjoyed it with a side salad and it was terrific. I brought half of it home and am looking forward to finishing it. My husband had the chicken gyro and that was very good as well. The lattes were creamy and the milk wasn’t scalded, this place just does a very good job. An eccentric interior as well as some cool music rounds out the experience. Hobson took care of us with just the right amount of attentiveness.

The food was great and it was a wonderful atmosphere. My kids will never forget the experience because the generous hostess gave them handmade dinosaur stuffed toys and made sure they had coloring sheets and crayons. We will definitely return next time we are in town.

What a friendly place, we popped in for coffee, but after browsing the menu decided to have a second breakfast! Hubbys eggs were slightly well cooked for his liking but tasted good, my baked oatmeal with cream and blueberries was good . Coffee was excellent and frequent top ups were offered. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient .

Bar & grill
COLT Grill Cottonwood is a down-home spot known for its BBQ, burgers, and specialty drinks. The restaurant offers a simple made-from-scratch menu with a focus on fantastic smoked meats. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and kind staff while dining on the patio next to a stone fountain where the giant smokers are located. The counter ordering system adds to the unique experience, and the outdoor area is dog-friendly.
COLT Grill is a barbecue lover’s dream, with a full rack of ribs so generous it could easily feed two or three hungry diners. The smoky aroma in the air is pure temptation, making it nearly impossible not to order everything on the menu. The indoor and outdoor ambience perfectly complements the setting, creating a relaxed and inviting dining experience. Service was outstanding—every staff member was as warm and welcoming as the food itself. My waistline is relieved they don’t have a location in Rhode Island, but my taste buds are filing a formal complaint!

Picked this one from google reviews after driving through an overly crowded Sedona. Old town Cottonwood is great and balanced. Not overboard. Still cute. Colt Grill is an order first, pay separately at the bar and find a place to sit in or out and then enjoy your meal. The sandwiches were a meal unto themselves. Sides are separate. My traveling partner got the Jalapeño cream cheese burger and I got the brisket sandwich and we split a large order of seasoned fries. The barbecue sauce bar should not be missed and for one visit there are too many to try out but take a pick and come back if you can. This place is worth a second visit. One review here says “a local recommended it” and I can see why. Enjoy it and then take a walk up and down old town Main Street. A great place to be here and now.

This is a small place. While it is a sit-down and eat place, there is no table service. We ordered quite a bit of food, and it was priced fairly. The passion fruit margarita tasted pretty weak. Very little alcohol and the ice took up a lot of room. I was pretty disappointed. Our family didn't care for the garlic fries. The sampler Platter is big enough to share and still have leftovers. There are tons of sauces to choose from from sweet to spicy ! While the cornbread was good I'd pass on that price. My mother enjoyed the gluten free bread option. The kids menu is your typical basic menu. We don't go to cottonwood often but these staff were super nice and talkative. I would have liked a few other healthy options. We ended up taking home left overs and they did not taste great the second time much better fresh. We all enjoyed the decor and tons of souvenirs you can purchase including the bbq sauces !

The service was mediocre. atmosphere was lively, unfortunately after a few bites into my burger, I noticed that one of the hamburger patties was not cooked all the way through. The manager offered to make the burger but I declined. When the cook was told he had no reaction. Check your order if you prefer a well cooked burger.

First timer, out of towner to Colt Grill Cottonwood. Frankly, I parked at Merkin Winery, read the Google reviews and then drove away. The views are great but not worth paying higher prices for possible disappointment. I read the Google reviews on Colt and there you have it. Recommendations were not wrong. Smoking bbqs in patio area were like cheese to a mouse. Colt is pleasantly decorated in white and brown cattle-like upholstered chairs and dining tables. There's no table service. Order at the counter including drinks and wait at your table for your name to pickup your entrees. This process reduces staffing although there are many working to bus tables, clean and cook. My bbq brisket was amazing. I was offered fatty or meaty slices. There's a serve yourself sauce counter. If you like great bbq, adding sauces is a "no no." My brisket was tender, flavorful and moist with no added sauce. That was perfection! Near the restroom is a framed newspaper article recognizing the woman owner, and she was in the restaurant with a recognizable expectation posturing that all staff did not dare look meandering. Colt functions efficiently, brisket outstanding and I never buy a restaurant t-shirt. But I did, First time ever! Amazing, and I thanked the owner Brenda Marie for a wonderful experience. Highly Recommended!!!

We all got the ABC burger and the regular fries. So so good! They tasted like homemade burgers, really good quality ingredients. Thick bacon.

3.5 stars Wait in line for a spot and sit down. Look at menu and go order Lots of gluten free items. Order food. Then a different spot..order drinks. Didn't like how close to my table people had to walk to get through the place. The food was pretty ordinary. Service was very good. Just about all country music. Wasn't something I will go back for...as it just wasn't that tasty and I didn't feel the atmosphere was all that comfortable.

I'm thankful we didn't find Colt right away because it would've been the only place we would've eaten. The patio was packed, so we sat inside at the bar where it was nice & empty. The bartender was like an old friend that you haven't seen in a while, so you talk a long time to catch up. The food was amazing. The portions were huge. As soon as I saw all of that food, I knew I couldn't conquer it. I didn't. Then, foolishly, I ordered a peach cobbler a la mode for dessert. Dumb idea. It was a PLATTER of cobbler and ice cream. My friend ordered the Cowboy Cookie Sundae. 1st of all, the cookie weighed about 5 pounds. Then add 3 pounds of ice cream on top. We had to be rolled out of there. We were completely stuffed. Everything about this place is good and worth a visit! Oh, and the garlic butter fries were the bomb 💣
