Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach is a small coastal city in northwest Oregon. It’s known for its long, sandy shore. Standing tall in the ocean, Haystack Rock is a seasonal haven for tufted puffins. On a headland to the north, trails in Ecola State Park offer sweeping views of the ocean, coves and a lighthouse. South is Arcadia Beach, with tide pools and a picnic area. Nearby Hug Point has sea caves. Boutiques and galleries dot downtown.

Haystack Rock is a stunning 235-foot monolith located on the Oregon Coast, formed by ancient lava flows. It is part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge and Marine Garden, providing a habitat for diverse marine and wildlife such as puffins, seabirds, sea stars, crabs, and more. During low tide, visitors can access the rock and explore its surrounding tidal pools. The area offers various oceanfront accommodations with picturesque views of Haystack Rock.
In August 2025, we visited Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Haystack Rock is spectacular, as it accessible to the public, no cost to visit, and close to the beach. Birds fly around it and onto it, and the Pacific Ocean waves crashing on the rocks add to the ambiance. The surrounding rocks have visible starfish and seashells on them, as it was likely low tide. The Cannon Beach sand is packed down and easy to walk on. We went early in the morning, so the morning sun was behind us, and that improved our photography. Haystack Rock is an amazing place to visit and experience first-hand.

Haystack Rock is absolutely breathtaking! Standing on the beach with this giant sea stack in front of you feels magical. At low tide, the tidepools are full of colorful starfish, anemones, and other sea life, which makes it a great spot for families and nature lovers. The sunsets here are unforgettable — watching the sky change colors behind the rock is a must-see experience. The beach itself is wide, clean, and perfect for a long walk. It’s one of those iconic Oregon Coast landmarks that you just can’t miss!

Oregon coast is so beautiful! Nature at its finest straight out of the Goonies movie. The town is quaint and has a nice selection of shops and restaurants. Very relaxing and scenic. I hope to be able to come back again and stay overnight. Perfect spot for a vacation on the Pacific Ocean.

Haystack Rock is absolutely breathtaking! The towering rock formation rising out of the ocean is a true natural wonder, and the surrounding beach is stunning. Walking along the shore and watching the waves crash while seagulls and tidepool creatures thrive nearby is an unforgettable experience. The sunsets here are magical, casting incredible colors across the sky and water. A must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates the beauty and power of nature!

Beautiful place! The locals who live here are very lucky. We got to see at least 20 elk just chilling by the parking lot. Just watch out with the tides. We noticed a lot of people were trying to take pictures by the beach and were almost taken out the high tide waves. Also, there's quite a crowd in the evening for the sunset. Warning: my husband grabbed a "pebble" at the beach, but it wasn't a pebble, it was elk dookie.

Beautiful place. Difficult to find parking. You'll have to hike awhile along the road but when you get back to downtown, you can get a coffee and take a breath. We'll worth the steep stairs and trek up the hill to get down to the beach.

Cannon Beach is one of those rare places that feels almost unreal — a coastline carved by wind, mist, and time, yet soft enough to hold the most intimate moments with effortless grace. As a wedding photographer, I return here constantly — almost every month — drawn by its quiet luxury and the way the landscape transforms love into something cinematic. There’s a certain magic in the air: the whisper of the tide, the elegance of Haystack Rock rising like a monument, the endless horizon that makes every couple look like they’re standing inside a dream. This beach doesn’t just create a backdrop — it creates a feeling. A feeling of calm. Of depth. Of something timeless. The light here is extraordinary. Soft, diffused, almost velvety — the kind of light that wraps around a bride’s dress, catches a single tear, or turns a simple touch into the most ethereal moment. Every time I shoot here, I’m reminded why Cannon Beach is one of my favorite places on earth for love stories. And the people… gentle, warm, open. Couples come here to breathe, to reconnect, to escape the noise of the world — and my job is simply to honor that beauty with my camera. Some of my most iconic wedding images were born on this coastline. Cannon Beach is not just a location. It’s an experience. A luxury of nature. A place where emotions feel bigger, and love feels quieter — but deeper. And every time I leave, I already know I’ll be back again soon.
Ksusha S — Google review
Great visit! Pro tip, we pulled into the neighborhood streets and asked to park there. Residents were so friendly they just said don't block a driveway. From there, any set of steps to the beach and you're there with a quick walk. Check the tide pools for starfish, crabs, and sea creatures. They're everywhere! Look for the birds on top of the rocks and on the sheer sides of the rocks as well. Also, we saw a Bald Eagle across the street in the tree lines. Definitely a great visit with iconic photos.

Theaters
Nestled in the heart of Cannon Beach, the Coaster Theatre Playhouse is a delightful gem that brings together history and artistry. Originally established as a roller rink in the 1920s, this charming venue has transformed over the decades into a vibrant community theater. With its cozy seating and warm, rustic decor, it offers an intimate setting for audiences to enjoy a diverse array of performances ranging from plays and musicals to dance recitals.
Intimate setting in a lovely community theater, which has the unique feature of a floor level stage, that allow the actors or musicians to be on the same level as the front row seating.

"Elvis Has Left the Building" is super cute, hilarious, and well-performed. See it by 8/9/25. Every show at Coaster Theater is well done and a lot of fun! Great way to spend an evening while staying at the North Coast!
Katie C — Google review
First time attendance. Decent price for single show and yearly subscription. Not a bad line up of shows for a small community theater. Splurged the extra 5 bucks on "premium" seats, second row. Not a wise choice. Chairs are lined up even and not staggered so your view is not in the gap but straight on blocking view of stage. IMHO...any seat is good except, AVOID SECOND AND THIRD ROW seats. Great show!
David K — Google review
Took two 15 year old boys to fill some time in a trip to beach and it ended up being one of the high points of our trip. We went to see PLAY ON and just laughed and then listened to two teenagers go on and on about it afterwards how funnyit was. The theater itself was cozy and comfortable....
Chris B — Google review
Very nice community theater in the heart of Cannon Beach. Not a bad seat in the house, and the seats are really comfortable. Came to see a blues concert w/ Curtis Salgado, and sound system and acoustics for such a small venue were prefect. Great show.
John D — Google review
It was amazing. Live plays should happen more 😊 The actors did a wonderful job

Fabulous venue for community theater, great productions, comedies, musicals, suspense and drama. Also local and regional music like this annual Hoedown of local musicians. Highly recommended.

Visited Cannon Beach for 20 years before my first play. Now it's a must DO while on vacation. The actors/actresses are good and clearly have a passion for the theater.

The Cannon Beach History Center & Museum is a small but engaging museum that delves into the rich history of Cannon Beach and its inhabitants over the past 70 years. With interactive exhibits and rotating displays, visitors can explore a diverse collection of historical artifacts and memorabilia, including the town's namesake cannon, a replica Native American Longhouse, and vintage photographs capturing life in the area.
Great museum in Cannon Beach! We loved our docent Fish and had a great time learning about the area. Suggests a donation when you visit.

This is an outstanding small museum. You should stop here to see it if you're in Cannon Beach! Free too, which is nice. Friendly people, and you can get some cool souvenirs! I wish I had come here a long time ago after going to Cannon Beach many times.

This is an adorable museum to learn about some local history. Highly recommend stopping by and it's free to visit!

A beautiful sea side town. It has a lot to offer and is close to other attractions.
Running_Wild_Outdoors — Google review
I make sure to stop here every time I visit Cannon Beach. The volunteers are the friendliest and have so much knowledge about the area’s history. My favorite exhibit is of course, Tillamook Rock Lighthouse. The museum is free but, definitely leave a donation or get a gift that’s for sale.
Mack P — Google review
I recommend going online to see if this place needs tickets or a reservation for a tour , but I don't remember that being needed , but this museum is a must on your vacation , or just passing through the area , this has a lot of rich history of the area ..
Gary S — Google review
This is a quaint little FREE museum with really interesting local history. I really enjoyed the old photographs from the 1920s with old cars at Haystack Rock and all the history on the offshore shipwrecks. The beeswax shipwreck was particularly interesting. The museum is small and great for a quick stop to check out artifacts from around the area before heading over to Cannon Beach. I stopped to pick up a Goonies doubloon at the gift shop to use in Ecola Park just like they did in The Goonies! It's the only shop in the area that sells them.

Restaurant
Pelican Brewing in Cannon Beach is a spacious craft brewpub that offers brewery tours, a variety of rotating taps, and delicious gourmet pub fare. Founded in 1996 by Jeff Schons and Mary Jones, Pelican Brewing has become one of the most well-known breweries on the Oregon coast. The Cannon Beach location features a full restaurant and pilot brewery, offering a selection of gluten-free options on their menu.
Last time we vacationed on the Oregon Coast we ate a Pelican Brewing in Lincoln city. At first we wanted to eat at a more local spot figuring the chain restaurants may not be what we were looking for. The place was quite busy and there was an extended wait but in the end the food was amazing. This time we were at Cannon Beach and with such a good experience last time we decided to try it again, and again everything was just great, and again there was a long wait 🤣 but that was to be expected. I had the cod fish and chips and it was delicious. Fish was perfect, not over saturated. Fries were fantastic too and the beer, as always, was great. Kids had clam chowder and I had to sneak myself a few bites because it was incredible too. Don’t think twice, it’s worth the wait, the food is some of the best you’ll find in town.
Corey L — Google review
We stopped in for dinner here while staying in Cannon Beach for the evening. Even though it was a Thursday evening it was very busy and we had about a 20 minute wait to be seated but we enjoyed a beer while waiting. The atmosphere was nice, very busy and on the louder side. Our waitress was very attentive. Our meals in the other hand were mediocre. My husband had the ahi tuna poke which he said was the worst tuna he has ever had. He also noted that the ginger was over powering. Very disappointed in his meal. I had a bowl of clam chowder which was good and a side salad which was a heap of lettuce with some almonds. It was difficult to cut the lettuce into manageable pieces on such a small plate. Our daughter had a large salad with a side of sirloin strips that were ok Her friend has the fish and chips which were non descript. It was not a good dining experience and we won't return. There are other restaurants nearby to try out.

Came here with some friends and family after visiting the coast. The restaurant was busy, but we were able to be seated pretty quickly. Only bummer was that our friends had their dog with us and we were told we couldn't sit outside due to the patio only having one server and being filled up. Poor doggy had to go wait in the car, but otherwise our meal was pretty great. The clam chowder was warm and delicious. Fish and chips were crispy and yummy. My husband really enjoyed his dungeness crab Mac and cheese. Appetizers were super yummy. Staff was attentive and kept our drinks filled. A great stop after a fun day around the town.
Camille D — Google review
What a great experience! We stopped in on a Saturday night, and despite being busy, we only waited 10-15 minutes. The interior of the restaurant is quite large and very welcoming. It feels as if you are eating in a wilderness resort. The food was fantastic! We started with the clams and oysters, both of which were delicious. It just got better when our mains arrived. The crab ravioli was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The same can be said for the crab mac and cheese! If all their food tastes that good, I don’t see you going wrong with anything on their menu! My wife sampled several of their beers and found them incredibly tasty. I went with their home brewed root beer and cream soda. The cream soda was a bit light for me, but the root beer was bold and flavorful! Last, but certainly not least, the staff. Our waitress, Julia, was simply wonderful! She did great at her job, but more than that was her personality. She was extremely friendly and fun, joining in on conversation and playful jokes going back and forth. Just the experience of having her as a server is worth the stop!
Jonathan C — Google review
Big brewery near the beach. Parking was fine. Was sat down fairly quickly even though it was very busy. Food was good. Fish and chips were crisp and tasteful. Clam chowder was very delicious. All the beers from the flights were very good. Not one of them was a miss, all hits. Pretzel was above average with plenty of cheese.
Willie R — Google review
We had a late dinner here on the memorial day weekend, we got a table fairly quickly- the service was quick, the ambience is lively and it’s a beautiful brewery. We got the Tsunami Burger and the Crusted Salmon- Both were amazing choices and cooked just right. The burger was juicy and the salmon moist and flaky. Also got the Key Lime cocktail which came in a decently sized serve was delicious and the only reason I couldn’t order it again was because they ran out of one of the ingredients! There’s a lot of seating inside and on the patio, so if you have a dog, the patio is dog friendly which is a great plus!
R K — Google review
Enjoyed dinner here twice during our weekend stay at Cannon Beach. There was a short wait on Friday night as well as Saturday night, so Saturday we sat at the bar. Service both nights was on point. The food was all freshly made, arrived piping hot and was fantastic. The Salmon was amazing! Fish & Chips at the bar reminded me of a Pub dinner. The Brewpub burger was excellent. The Head-Out Hefeweizen supper refreshing and went well with the burger and fish & chips. It's a large restaurant with indoor and patio seating. A gas fireplace is positioned outside with circular seating while waiting for your seat. The coolest thing about this location is; right next to the hostess station is a full tap bar, no need to walk through the restaurant to the full bar. Order and pay for a brew and then meander through the small merch area while waiting for a table. Numerous awards for brews adorned the hallway to the restroom.
Tony S — Google review
Super good restaurant- would suggest going early to find parking and also to minimize waiting times. Super friendly staff- just had a hard time understanding our waiter. Food was delicious- the clam chowder is top notch! Atmosphere was good- a bit crowded on the patio area and were told we could sit in the shade- the whole time we were in the sun and it was HOT! Others around us also asked for the umbrella but it wouldn’t reach them either. Overall great choice in Cannon Beach!

Nestled in the heart of Cannon Beach, Icefire Glassworks is a delightful and rustic studio that showcases an impressive array of handcrafted glass art created by talented local artists. This vibrant working glassblowing studio and gallery, run by resident artists Jim Kingwell and Suzanne Kindland, focuses on art glass year-round.
Amazing studio. We arrived a little after 12 on a Friday hoping to see some glass blowing action. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see but the store was amazing! We left with a couple beautiful glass blown coasters. They are all so talented!!

Amazing studio, very welcoming front of house, able to explain artist work in detail and stunning outside use of glass art and flowers.

Going to this place eas one of the best experiences of the Cannon beach. We got to watch artisans make their masterpieces (the have public glass blowing sessions in the morning - 10am I believe and 12pm). Michael was very kind to give us lots of information on what was happening and each particular moment, walk through the mastery of glass crafting and answer all of the 1000 questions that I had. A must to visit when in Cannon beach, imo!
Anita G — Google review
What a lovely experience. I thought there was going to be a live demonstration but I didn’t question its absence. I was captured by several pieces and multiple artists’ works. I walked away with a sea turtle coaster from Alligator Pt., FL because it reminded me of the splendor of the wild Gulf of Mexico and my years spent near those waters. I really wanted this one sister’s beadwork. I’d never really pondered how textured glass becomes to look like pottery but I questioned the technique and was amazed by some of the matte finished works.
Level C — Google review
My mother, daughter and I visited this lovely glass studio last week. The owner spent quite a bit of time talking with us and we really enjoyed the conversation. He is a largely self-taught glass artist who has been working for decades in his craft. He shared interesting facts about the history of glass and had a very philosophical perspective about many different subjects. It's a lovely place to visit and if I return to Cannon Beach I will make a point to stop in again. There are many gorgeous pieces.
Claire M — Google review
Colors, patterns, and curves abound. If you are looking for an experience, I recommend visiting when this establishment is blowing glass. It's a hot business with several ovens with molten glass going but there is a plexiglass barrier that allows visitors a real close up look to the complete process. The artisans are happy and glad to share their knowledge as they work their magic. Just like any other delicate job, there are moments when they can't talk so it's good to remember that as we are guests in their workshop. They sell their pieces and those of a few colleagues as well. If you are in or close to the chemical field, do ask about how the working materials react, change and work with each other during different heating and cooling times. It's quite facinating.
Victoria R — Google review
Such a neat little shop! The artwork and glass here is absolutely beautiful. They have a section where you can watch them blow the glass. It also gives some very nice photo opportunities. Such a great place with very nice workers with extremely fair prices. This is a must stop when visiting canon beach.
Ashton — Google review
We had a chat with the owner. He is very sweet and explained a lot about the glass making industry even he showed the furnace which is burning at 1600 F all around the year. This glass making skill takes years to master and has limited labor with expensive materials thus it makes an expensive incredible art form.

Nestled at the base of the impressive 235 feet-tall Haystack Rock, The Wayfarer Restaurant & Lounge in Cannon Beach offers a stylish and woodsy ambiance with a salmon cannery theme. This long-standing establishment has been consistently serving delicious American seafood and breakfast, drawing guests back with its attention to service, detail, and classic recipes. I had the crab bake. Each items was perfectly cooked and delicious. $51 seemed like a lot but I would order it again and again. My partner had the daily special which was baked halibut with crab. Loved it too. All the staff were friendly and our waiter, Eric added greatly to the experience. We also had a booth with a perfect view of the Haystack Rocks. Great dinning experience.

The place was GREAT! The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions are huge — I personally recommend bringing a big appetite! I highly recommend this spot if you’re visiting Cannon Beach. Parking is limited in the small lot out front, and while you can stroll to the beach afterward for a quick view of Haystack Rock, both the parking and beach walk can be a bit hit-or-miss.

I had quite the lovely dining experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely exquisite! I do have to say, the portions were very big! I utterly adored the ocean view that we were able to see! We were even able to see the famous haystack rock, which was super beautiful and inspiring! Our server Sheamus was an absolute delight! He seemed Highly knowledgeable and was pleased to make an accommodations for our needs!! The restaurant was clearly kept well maintained! It was super fancy and high quality! Overall, I was thoroughly impressed and intrigued and emotionally touched by this experience! I would highly recommend dining at this restaurant for your next dinner excursion! I can guarantee you will have a lovely time just like I did! I will definitely be thinking about this restaurant on a regular basis and how touching and high quality the food and service was!

Food was good, went for dinner then breakfast. Had the steak and clam chowder. I was not expecting to be impressed by the food. Chowder was thick and flavorful. ..steak was also well cooked, medium rare. Desert was delicious. Would definitely go back!

Too much food. Come here if you’re hungry. We had cocktails to start. The mulberry mule and something that was a blood orange something. Both were good. The mule was very sweet. We had the clam chowder and Caesar salad for appetizers. The salad was delicious. The chowder was good. I thought it was one of my favorites, ever. My wife thought it had too much bacon/smoke flavor. You can decide. Either way the portion was a huge bowl. Then came the entrees. We should have split one dish. The halibut was good but slightly overcooked. The salmon dish was our favorite and what I would get again. The risotto with the halibut was incredibly rich and filling. Be warned. No room for dessert.

Bistro
Restaurant
Bistro Cannon Beach offers a blend of American cuisine with modern twists in a charming setting reminiscent of a French country inn. The restaurant is known for its stellar service and intimate ambiance, making it an ideal spot for special occasions. Chef Jack Stevenson, with experience from prestigious hotels like San Francisco's Mandarin Oriental, brings his vision to life through carefully crafted and expertly executed meals.
Delicious food with fresh ingredients, the waiter was super kind and attentive to us. The Caesar salad was so good I practically licked my plate (don’t worry I didn’t)! Loved how they have live music and a lively ambience, makes your conversation feel private. Love a restaurant that feels alive and this definitely gives that feel. This wins my favorite restaurant on Cannon Beach award. 🥇

we have been to cannon beach about four times now but had never been to this restaurant, so it was on our list. tonight was one of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time. our server trinh was amazing and took great care of us. i had the tuna and my husband had the filet, and the special peach ice cream topped with caramel sauce was the best ice cream i’ve had in a really long time, so i wanted to make sure to write a review. it was a busy night, but the service was wonderful and the live music was a nice touch as well.
Tiare B — Google review
Where to start…. Amazing experience, these words dont even do it justice. This food was definitely the best meal I’ve ever had. Pork belly 😱 insane flavor bomb in your mouth and the soft texture was unreal, the most unique Cesar salad, steak was perfection and the crab/prawn cakes omg with the most amazing depth of flavor sauces on everything. Let’s not forget the fresh foraged chanterelles with the creamiest buttery herb garlic sauce. Oh and the complementary fresh black sesame focaccia bread was to die for. You can really taste the passion Chef Jack puts into every dish. Oh and the spinach ice cream omg and the most lighted fluffiest cheesecake, I was completely taken back by my experience. My husband and I will be talking about the meal for years to come. Cannon Beach is lucky to have them. Oh yea and the waitress we had Jennifer was just like a friend I hadn’t seen in years, she was very attentive and so friendly and kind. And we absolutely loved our host JJ. Just the most amazing people. The atmosphere was so cozy, warming and very artistic. Loved all of the local art and small dried flowers and candles everywhere. I live 2 hours away and I will be definitely coming back to Cannon Beach just to eat here.

Phenomenal experience dining at Bistro. The torn Burrata was a great starter and the citrus halibut special over spinach risotto was amongst the best halibut preparations we’ve had at any restaurant anyplace. Don’t miss the ice cream either - peach basil was a great end to our meal. Service was friendly and timely. We also enjoyed the live guitar music.

My wife and I went here for dinner on our anniversary and it was the perfect way to end the night! JJ provided such a welcoming environment with her kind energy. The chef (JJ's husband) really knows how to craft a menu! Our server Andrew was just as welcoming and attentive. The crab cakes were soooo delicious. We also had the chef special halibut dish and it was cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned/sauced. The tobiko garnish also provided a nice textural flair! Everything was so decadent! Thank you again for the wonderful dining experience! Looking forward to coming back!

We were lucky to score a last minute reservation during our 2nd Anniversary/Belated Honeymoon trip. I'm so happy we did! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with live music and exceptional staff. This is a place that you can tell the chef cooks with their whole heart, putting love into every element. We started with drinks and their amazing bread, followed with the Duck Confit and the BEST crab cakes we have ever had in our lives. We also ordered the Yellow fin Tuna main as well as the filet of beef cooked as rare as legally allowed served with these amazing potatoes, and just, wow. Everything was perfectly cooked, flavors were vibrant and delicate without being pretentious, and everything was like a work of art. Do not skip this place!! We can't wait to come back the next time we are in Cannon Beach!!

Please do not pass up The Bistro in Cannon Beach. My girlfriend had been wanting to dine there for some time. We walked up mid-day to read the menu, which looked incredible, then JJ waved us in. We made reservations for later that evening. The service, our meal and dessert were all amazing. We came back the next night for a 2nd dessert, drink and to meet friends from Nashville. JJ hugged my girlfriend and me and she made us feel so welcome, instant friendship! Plus they served wine from our favorite winery (Ferraro Cellar). Cannon Beach is "Our Place" and we have now added The Bistro to our favorite places in Our Place! Oh, did I mention the food was incredible?! Drew & Elizabeth

Everything was perfect. We walked in right at open without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was right where it needed to be. I got to overhear the chef have a conversation that included his dessert. Which was a cheesecake with chocolate Gamache and an apple gelee. Every part of our meals were savored in delicious bites. I admit being skeptical to the Vietnamese caramel chicken, but it was flavorful in the best amount of way with the fish sauce, to the presentation and especially the slaw topping seasoned and complimented with the best ingredients. I didn't even have leftovers.

Pub
Sports bar
Cannon Beach Hardware and Public House, also known as the Screw & Brew, offers a unique experience combining a hardware store with a cozy on-site bar serving wine, craft beer, and sandwiches. The establishment is popular among locals and visitors for its one-of-a-kind concept.
We brought our bikes to Cannon Beach, and somehow the lock holding it onto our bike carrier rack broke and wouldn't open. We came here to get a bolt cutter, and the man there (I'm sorry, I didn't catch his name) was so so nice. He let us borrow the bolt cutter to free our bikes. Just such a kind person. It made our day. Cannon Beach people really are the nicest people ever. Thank you for helping us!

For all the hype that I heard about this place, I was disappointed in what we got. The food was bland and really oily. We tried the calamari and fish and chips; neither dish had much seasoning (if any) and the breading around the fish felt almost as thick as the fish itself! Staff seemed rushed and uninterested in the work, and we were largely ignored throughout our time. The location/style of the restaurant is unique and pretty cool, but unless you need some actual hardware I’d look elsewhere for food.
Hunter P — Google review
We stopped here for an afternoon snack of chips and salsa. The chips and beverages were fine, but the salsa was odd--mostly onions and peppers, with very little tomato. This is truly a combination hardware store and cafe, so the atmosphere was interesting! There are just a few tables and most are large, so be prepared to share a table. Service was okay--we had to ask the cashier for our check, even though the place was hardly busy mid-afternoon.
Linda S — Google review
As with all resort eateries they are overpriced and underwhelming and typically serve tiny portions at big prices. Screw and Brew is actually a hardware store which our friends who live in or have second homes in Cannon Beach actually use quite a lot. It is also a restaurant which has a diverse menu and serves big portions, but still at the big prices but compared to the other eateries its the place to go if you want to eat in the sun on a picnic table in a parking lot ... hot bright dog friendly ... its very casual and summery feeling. Wait staff was attentive and drinks were delivered quickly and food was brought out with minimal wait time. The problem was that everything was fried and dripping in oil .. fried fish was nearly 3x the portion we received at Doogers and super fresh meat texture but the breading was super saturated on oil ... so much that after one piece we removed the breading from the other two pieces and had to wrap them in napkins before eating, buffalo chicken sandwich was haauuge and good but again dripping in oil, calamari was inedible it was so greasy .. there was literally 1/8 of standing fryer oil in the bottom of the bowl they were served in, reuban sandwiches bread was saturated in oil ... corn chowder wasnot very good .. really floury... beers and ciders on tap were good and sodas were typical pepsi products. All in all, the 8 of us enjoyed each other but collectively we all took a year off our lives but eating this $250 dinner. RECOMMENDED with some reservation

Unique setting.. hardware store turned into restaurant . 5 stars for food.. the customer service was a bit weird. It felt a little bit rushed. We were sat 5 steps away from the bathroom which isn’t really ideal when you’re trying to enjoy your meal. There was no wait and three other tables free and available. The gentleman who was serving us put the receipt on the table halfway through our meal and reminded us twice to put a card down and sign the receipt .. again there was nobody waiting and no lunch rush - overall weird customer service experience but the food was absolutely delicious. Halibut, fish, sticks, and halibut brioche burger were amazing.

One of the unique places to eat in Cannon Beach with a hardware store and public house. I reviewed the menu after a short wait for table and ordered a halibut burger with tater tots. The menu has appetizers, salads, burgers, and sandwich entrees such as black bean, chicken, meatloaf with fish and chip options. The entrees are served with potato chips that can be upgraded to a number of options including fries, tater tots, and salad. I received my order in about fifteen minutes with a nice amount of tater tots. The grilled halibut was served on a bun without sauce and it had good taste to it. The tater tots were crispy and not greasy. Located in Midtown Cannon Beach on South Hemlock Street next to Sleepy Monk Coffee and the public parking lot. A nice place to stop for lunch with a number of options such as pastrami, and Buffalo Chicken, beer and wine with friendly service in a hardware setting.

Good atmosphere and quick walk from the beach. The fried fish sandwich was delicious, and the salad was huge. My 2 issues were that it was pretty expensive overall ($24 for a sandwich and fries), and there was a $14 upcharge for the shrimp on the salad which wouldn't be that bad except it only included 4 shrimp. $3.50 per shrimp seems a bit insane to me.

The food was okay for the price point ($15 turkey melt, $6 small cup of chowder), but the atmosphere makes up for it. Really cool and unique space to eat a meal for sure!

Restaurant
Public Coast Brewing Co is a little brewery that has surpassed expectations with exceptional food and beer. Visitors can enjoy tasty and crunchy fresh onion rings while sampling the entire beer board, which offers something for every taste. The brewery provides superior service, with staff wearing masks even during the pandemic. Additionally, whale watching is a popular activity on the coast throughout the year, especially during migration seasons when visitors have a good chance of spotting whales from high vantage points.
Great food in cannon beach, the fish and chips were excellent. I would say a little on the expensive side but they were phenomenal definitely the best I had in Oregon while I was visiting. Great beer and clam chowder. 10/10

Nice large outdoor seating area for people and dogs. Bit of a wait in line to order with only one cashier, but they bring the food out to your table promptly. The hummus plate is a delicious healthy appetizer, enough for several people. I had the fish tacos. Nice sized portion, need to add the salsa for some flavor. The root beer is to die for!

Public Coast Brewing Co is our favorite brew pub in Cannon Beach. They have a wide variety of gluten free options, including some of the best fish and chips in the area, and creamy clam chowder. We have enjoyed the fish and chips, chicken Caesar salad, clam chowder, and a variety of other options over the last couple of years. They have a wide variety of beers and ciders on tap, along with draft root beer, cream soda, and other sodas (last time it was blueberry cream soda). You order at the counter and take a buzzer to seat yourself inside, at the bar, or outside at a picnic table or near their outdoor fire pit. They have a clean restroom with Oregon costal history posted on the walls (at least in the men’s room… who knows what mysteries await the patrons of the lady’s room…)

So for $174 plus $20 tip we got: -Dirty fries with barely anything on them (seriously how do you do loaded fries without cheese???) -$35 halibut -over salted pretzel -root beer that is way too sweet -meh burger you could get anywhere else, nothing noteworthy We came here two years ago and was impressed. Now we don’t want to come back, ever

I’ve always liked Public Coast Brewing, but my visit today was a let-down. My $35 fish and chips arrived with the tartar sauce container melted into the fries, and the fish was so overcooked it was tough and dry. The presentation alone made it hard to want to eat, and the quality raised concerns about food safety. For the price, I expected something fresh and well-prepared, not a meal that looked and tasted like it had been forgotten in the kitchen. Hoping this was just a one-off, but it definitely made me think twice about coming back.

Eight of us stopped in for an early meal and local beers. The staff was very friendly and the food arrived quite quickly after placing our order. We enjoyed sitting outside to enjoy our meal and the weather.

Great atmosphere, food and drinks! We stopped by after a hike at Ecola State Park, and highly recommend to anyone in the area I ordered the veggie burger - delicious and could tell it was made in house as there were mushrooms and nuts in there. My husband got the wings and burger and liked both Tried the beer flight and liked how fun the different flavors were including the coconut and hibiscus options

Best place in Cannon Beach for gluten free options. Had the fish and chips… and the fish was great, crispy on the outside and flaky/tender on the inside. They also have ciders on tap. The blueberry cider was crisp and light. Per the other reviews, yes, the service isn’t like what it would be a a sit down restaurant with traditional wait-staff… but they make it very clear how to order. And if you miss the signs I’m sure they will help you out. Everyone was friendly and helpful!

Seafood restaurant
Driftwood Restaurant & Lounge is a laid-back, long-standing steakhouse and seafood spot known for its casual menu, full bar, and outdoor deck. The restaurant offers a classic clam chowder served in a sourdough bread bowl that is highly recommended. The atmosphere at Driftwood is relaxed, making it an ideal place to enjoy delicious food and drinks.
This was one of my favorite meals from our vacation to the Pacific Northwest. We were in Cannon Beach for a couple days in August and came here for dinner on a Monday night. We sat at the bar and were promptly greeted by the bartender. He provided menus and gave a few minutes to decide on drinks and meals. We shared the Dungeness crab cocktail appetizer and each ordered meals. I had the lemon caper baked salmon and it was very good. The menu says it comes on a bed of onions and I wasn’t sure how that was going to be but it was very small chopped onion and with the dill sauce on top of that it was delicious. I opted for the side of vegetables and it was a generous portion and they were perfectly cooked. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was casual and easygoing. The lighting was a bit dim but I felt that made it a little more rustic cabin feeling instead of dark dungeon. The place was somewhat full that evening but it wasn’t loud. Prices were comparable to similar seafood restaurants we have been to. We walked from our hotel but I think there is a parking lot if I remember correctly. This was a very good dinner.

We had lunch outside and really enjoyed the heated deck and the pumpkin carving contest! I appreciate that they have more than one vegetarian option on the menu. The Mediterranean pita was very good. My seafood eating partner said the steamed clams and clam chowder were great too.

We were quickly seated in the lounge area on a busy day, which we very much appreciated. Service has been very friendly. The lighting is a bit dim and could be improved. The food is excellent, including the salmon Caesar salad, roast beef sandwich, fish sandwich, crab dip, clam chowder.

Great service. We were seated quickly and our food came out quick. The food was good, 4 star for food as it was good but nothing exceptional.

Food was delicious. I had the special that night which was prime rib and prawns. My group got the onion rings, calamari, and the crab dip (my favorite). Our server was steve and he was very helpful with what to order.

I never leave negative reviews, or any reviews for that matter. But my recent visit to Driftwood Restaurant was extremely disappointing — and concerning. I ordered the baked lemon salmon and calamari, while my girlfriend had the salmon pasta. The dishes looked fine at first glance, but the flavor was underwhelming and the seafood didn’t taste particularly fresh. Unfortunately, the worst part came a few hours later: about three hours after dinner, I became violently ill. I’ll spare the details, but it was clear my body rejected the meal completely. After a few days, I got in touch with the manager and she took care of the problem in a professional manner. The food, customer service, and atmosphere is great. I just had an unlucky visit, but would go back again.

It was so delicious, they sat us in less than 15mins and we sat outside. The food came out quickly and I had the clam chowder it was so fresh and cooked perfectly.

We lucked out and arrived right before a rush. We had no wait time and sat outside. Our server was in point and gave suggestions. The atmosphere was simple and nice. Our food was quick, cooked to perfection, and tasted amazing. Parking was a bit of a pain but that is not on the raustant. It was a little on the expensive side, but when we saw the portion size we did not feel cheated or anything. Definitely will be returning if and when we make it back to cannon beach.
