Museums
Circus World, located in Baraboo, Wisconsin, is a historic site and museum complex that offers a fascinating look into the history of the circus. Originally starting with just six circus wagons and less than an acre of grounds, it has now expanded to cover sixty-four acres with over 260 impressive wagons and thirty permanent structures. The museum features live acts under a big-top tent during summer performances, providing visitors with an entertaining and educational experience.
It was amazing! We went there with one of kids and two grandkids. The big top circus show was very good. The acrobatics were very good. The kids circus show was adorable. The museum exhibits were very interesting and informative. The whole feeling of the place was fun.

I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful this place is. The grounds and live big tent circus performance brought back many memories of when I saw the circus. I am so happy they are keeping it up. The live performances are spectacular. Very professional. It's well worth the trip coming here and spending a few hours to enjoy with family.

What an amazing treat! FYI - there are no longer live elephants at Circus World. 2025 is the 1st year they no longer host these amazing, majestic creatures. However, this experience was wonderful and memorable. Went with family and friends and we had THEE best time. Toured the grounds, watched all shows, rode the carousel, purchased from the gift/souvenir shop, and took many pictures! Highly recommend watching the "Holidays! Big Top Show". As a Ringling Bros/Barnum & Bailey fan, Circus World 🎪 is as close as you're going to get here in Wisconsin. I sure do miss the good ol circus days so this was a wonderful taste of nostalgia. I cannot thank the entire staff and company enough for keeping this treasure alive. We drove a couple hours to come here and very much worth it. Guided Circus Wagon tour was just perfect. Thank you TJ, for the absolutely wonderful experience. 🙏

Wonderful experience for all ages. Would recommend a whole day visit. The big top show was fantastic. There is a second amazing exhibit that collects and restores circus wagons across the world.

We attended the 1st(and hopefully annual) Wine and Wagons Event. Weather was beautiful. Staff, Volunteers, and Wineries were Great. The fact that the Performers were outside roving the event was neat

Great museum, had a good time. Most buildings were air conditioned, easy to access. Great place to take kids, lots of indoor and outdoor attractions. Would recommend.

What an amazing experience! So much to see and learn about. Live performances we so cool! Very impressive acts and stunts. A definite must-see in the Dells area!
Savannah V — Google review
This is a hidden gem of a place to spend a day. There are impressive shows and interesting museum pieces, not to mention the education and sites to see. The performers are not washed up second string wannabes who didn’t make it on Cirque de Soleil. They are absolutely fantastic!!! The workers are friendly and helpful. Many appeared to be volunteers. I wish I had realized how great this place was before I was there. We would have planned to spend more time there. If you’re in the area, please go. It really is an enjoyable time.

Distillery
Driftless Glen Distillery is a renowned craft distillery and restaurant located in Baraboo, offering an upscale dining experience alongside their own house-brewed spirits. The distillery, nestled along the scenic Baraboo River, prides itself on using Midwest grain and water from the Driftless Area to create a range of award-winning spirits, including their flagship Bourbon Whiskey.
We really enjoyed the tour. The guide was informative and we got to see most of the process from production to barrel aging. It was also an opportunity to try a bunch of different spirits that I really have only tried mixed in cocktails previously. We also had some old-fashioneds and an appetizer in the bar area. Great service there. The drinks were fantastic and the jalapeno chicken flatbread was amazing.

Wow! What a great vibe to this place! Didn’t have time for a bite but if the chow is as good as their spirits, it’s a winner also. Friendly staff, great outdoor seating area along the river. Just a wonderful place. Great bourbons!!
LAURA H — Google review
Made the visit on Aug 14th around 11am. Bourbons were fantastic. What was more great is that they would let you sample some bourbons as well. Both Bartenders were great. I need to come black and pick some more bottles up. Purchased a rye 51 that day

Came here after hiking at Devil's Lake on a beautiful fall afternoon. My husband and I have been here previously to do the bourbon tasting and tour which was great. Today we enjoyed a late lunch on the beautiful patio with views of the Baraboo River. We were with my husband's siblings and spouses and all enjoyed our meals. Two in our family are very picky eaters and loved their food. We enjoyed the gin steamed mussels, miso pork belly tacos, jumbo lump crab cakes, ginger soy tuna salad, ribeye crostini and the heirloom tomato steak salad. We were too early to be able to order from the dinner menu but found plenty of options as you can see that were all delicious. Plus the bourbon flights were very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back the next time we are in this area. I only remembered to take a picture of two of our meals unfortunately, they were all plated beautifully.

My fiance (now wife) and I had our wedding at Driftless Glen after years of being occasional dinner customers. Could not have had a more amazing experience. After an unfortunate situation with our original venue we had only 43 days to find a new venue and Driftless Glen made it all happen. The General Manager Scott is a rock star. His staff are amazing. The food was spectacular. The entire operation from top to bottom is first class. We feel blessed and being able to return frequently for dinner and anniversaries is going to be a cherished tradition. Words cannot express the depth of our appreciation. Thank-you!
Nik C — Google review
Excellent dining experience and atmosphere. Our server was very knowledgeable and hospitable. To start, we had warm dinner rolls with olive oil and vinegrette and the delicious crab cakes appetizer. I had an Espress-yo-self martini for my drink and the balsamic portobello entree for my meal. I loved every bite. Unfortunately, I was not able to save room for any dessert, so the next time I go back, I'll just have to order dessert first! This place is a bit pricey but it's very worthwhile for a special occasion.

We had a pleasure to celebrate my birthday at Driftless Glen Distillery. It was a beautiful evening in October, so we had an opportunity to sit outside, on their patio, facing the river. Beautiful sitting area, that felt private, and I highly recommend it! There were seven of us, so we pretty much had everything on their menu. Everyone was very happy with food. My husband had salmon, and it was outstanding. I had beef stroganoff, and it was very, very good. Even items off kids menu were great! We ordered cocktails, and when mine was too strong, waiter immediately offered to remake it, and the remade one was just perfect. My mom has advanced colon cancer, and is not able to tolerate some of the vegetables. I did not expect waiter to care, but he did, and offered to substitute vegetables for what she can eat. Overall, very, very tasty food, very kind waiter, and very pleasant dining experience. Would gladly come back!

Ian the bartender took the time to explain their drinks and suggested a very good 10 year barrel aged bourbon, which we ended up buying. Ian's expertise and enthusiasm makes the tasting experience not just informative but incredibly fun. Thank you Ian.

Diner
Broadway Diner is a classic American eatery located in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Housed in a meticulously restored 1954 Silk City Diner, it exudes a nostalgic retro vibe. Originally crafted by the Paterson Vehicle Company, the diner was lovingly refurbished by Vonnie and Jeff, who reopened its doors as a full-service restaurant in 2012. In addition to serving familiar comfort food staples for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Broadway Diner also offers catering services.
Breakfast was BOMB, check this place out the servers are amazingly nice and the food is great, cute tiny space up front with more seating towards the back !
Erica F — Google review
First time here. We were on our way to the Dells and hungry for some breakfast. The place has a nice retro feel to it. The stainless steel diner has been well cared for and updated enough to make it more comfortable for staff and customers. There are some tables out front and two different seating areas inside (it's bigger than it looks). All the cooking is done behind the counter, where you can see it all happening. It can be a bit noisy as the metal spatulas hit the grill, but you can still have a reasonable conversation. It's a busy place, and the servers are efficient, with a no nonsense approach to taking your orders. The menu is large, with lots of traditional favorites (no avocado toast here). There were two pages of breakfast items, and it was a tough decision. We ordered a number of different items: corned beef hash, pancakes, and potato pancakes with eggs and sausage. It did not take very long to get our food. Very good portions, everything was plenty hot, and all flavorful. Everyone was happy with their choices. The corned beef hash was not the kind you get from a can. It was large, fresh pieces. The pork sausages were plump and well seasoned. The poached eggs were perfect. My only complaint: I ordered my potato pancakes extra crispy, but they didn't seem "extra" to me (extra extra crispy next time). The regular pancakes were good, but not fluffy enough to be "excellent". A very nice place for breakfast, and somewhere we would return to.

Decided to have brunch at 12 noon and there was a small queue of around 6 people. Service was quick and everything got served in 10mins. I ordered the Prime Benedict from their specials menu board which was really good especially if you prefer something else other than ham in your Benedicts. Definitely will come back for their other dishes.
Earl G — Google review
I would have given this place 5 stars, but unfortunately, I found both a long and a short hair in my omelet towards the end of my meal. The food was delicious up until that point, and I was really enjoying it. I brought it to the waitress's attention, and while she assured me she would inform the kitchen, we didn’t receive an apology or any offer of compensation. The service was decent—nothing extraordinary—but overall, the food is still tasty. I hope this was just a one-time issue, as I’d love to return if things improve.
Deneb A — Google review
The food was great made quickly and worth the price. The staff was on top of things and was nice when my daughter spilled her drink. It is really more conducive for smaller groups cause of the way it is laid out. The only complaint I have is that we sat at the counter and now my kids want me to buy chairs like they have at the counter cause they had so much fun spinning!
Leah R — Google review
Fun diner with delicious food! Great service and friendly staff.

Broadway Diner was delicious! Great staff very welcoming and attentive! Top notch overall! We had one of the breakfast specials, pancakes, cheddar biscuits and gravy, and the Wisconsin Burger. Did not disappoint! My son said the fries are chefs kiss. Highly recommend!
Chrissy J — Google review
GO HERE!!! Seriously. Do yourself a favor and have breakfast here. It’s absolutely phenomenal on every single level. The quality of the food is ridiculous - everything tastes scratch-made. Corned beef hash is legit - huge chunks of brined brisket with fresh cut new potatoes and delicious onion. Not at all greasy and perfectly seasoned. It’s the absolute real deal. Sawmill gravy is to die for. It’s god-tier delicious, and this is coming from a guy who doesn’t really like gravy. It’s packed with flavor and has a perfect texture. Get it as a side. Bathe in it. It’s that good. Eggs and bacon? Insanity. The thick cut bacon has a hint of sweetness and just the right amount of smoky goodness. It’s roasted to absolute perfection. The breads? Homemade. Ugh. They just do everything right here. Service was fantastic and the pricing was super reasonable. If I lived closer, I’d be here every single day. Baraboo - you have an absolute gem of a diner. I’m envious!

Movie theater
The Al. Ringling Theatre, built in 1915 by Albert Ringling of the famous Ringling Brothers, is a beautifully restored historic venue that hosts live performances, movies, and concerts. The opulent theater features lavish architecture inspired by French opera houses and offers guided tours for visitors to learn about its rich history.
We were just wandering around Baraboo and popped into the theatre. A wonderful woman gave us a short tour and an in-depth history of the building. The restoration is beautiful. I was very pleased to see they were able to keep so much history alive while incorporating modern technology; without really taking away from the original feel. Things were clean and well kept. It is clear that the people working there are proud of this piece of history; and they should be.

Had a great time at the Al. Ringling Theater tonight. We attended the light parade, tge a magic show at the theater, followed by meeting Santa. The Al. Looks very nice. You can definitely tell things look a bit nicer and have been redone. It's so much nicer than the last time I was there, which was like 10 yrs ago.

Had the opportunity to play a show here way back in 2009. Such a fantastic venue and was an honor to be able to play here.
Dan — Google review
Historic, opulent and superb architecture highlights this incredible building! We've traveled all over the country and this has to be one of the most incredible theaters we've run across. Its not far from Circus World and the Ringling mansion. They perform plays and have concerts here, among other events. This is a can't miss piece of architectural and Americana history.

Park
Ochsner Park Zoo is a city zoo that has been open to the public since 1926. It does not require any admission fees and offers an array of wildlife such as lynxes, monkeys, llamas, tortoises and more. The zoo may be small in size but it is ideal for families with little children who can spend about an hour observing the animals. There are also picnic tables and a playground adjacent to the park where people can relax after visiting the animals.
Cute little zoo. Have never seen bears cohabitation with anything before but they had a black bear and artic foxes together that appeared to be playing. Nice place to stop and stretch the legs on a drive.
Charles G — Google review
Such a nice little zoo! They have wolfs, a bear, arctic fox, deer, swans, cranes, lynx, otters, prairie dogs you can feed as wells as the pigs, donkeys and goats. Make sure to bring quarters for the feed. Free parking and free admission! They do accept donations. It's not big, so you can't get lost but definitely nice to visit! Kids loved it, especially feeding the animals!
Kasia T — Google review
Great place for any age, lots of wonderful animals, pets. Ample parking, great park area with picnic tables, clean restrooms. Good couple of hours well spent. It's a gem in the north freedom, baraboo area!
Madan N — Google review
Such a cute little spot to walk and see the animals. A few weren't out due to heat, so we didn't see spider monkeys, otters, or the lynx, but still a great little visit.

Really nice little Zoo. Pretty nice selection for the size too. The staff were so kind so I can't even complain. Definitely a must go.

Simply amazing lots of animals well taken care of super large zoo.
Mzteenabeene — Google review
Ochsner Park zoo is a nice, small, family friendly local zoo. It is free, so that is always great. It is pretty small, with not too many animals located here. The bears were probably my favorite part of the zoo, along with the goats that you can feed by hand. Bring some quarters for the feed machines You can probably walk through the entire place in less than a half an hour. But like I said, it's free, so if you are in the area it is worth checking it out. Plenty of available parking when I visited on memorial day this year.
B A — Google review
Small but a worthwhile stop! Got there right at opening which was also feeding time so I got to see pretty much all of the animals up and active. Very much enjoyed visiting.

Mexican restaurant
Jose's Authentic Mexican Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Baraboo, Wisconsin, located on Eighth Street in a former Dairy Queen building. It has gained a loyal following and was even named Business of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce. The restaurant offers an array of authentic Mexican dishes, a well-stocked bar, and warm hospitality. Visitors rave about the delicious food and exceptional customer service that makes them feel like part of the family.
Delicious! Good service, but hard to get to at the moment with the road closures. However, the food was excellent as was the margarita! The chips and salsa are a must have! My wife had the shrimp salad and I the enchiladas! There is another location in the Dells that my buddy recommended as well.
Joseph B — Google review
Was there on 9/12 food was good, but the waiter never came back after he dropped off the food. My dear wife had to go get our own doggy bags and finally after he watched her do that he came over and asked if we needed anything. We said well we sure would have liked to drink refill, but too late now just give us our bill. I think we had the worst waiter there.
Jon F — Google review
Jose’s Authentic Mexican absolutely exceeded our expectations! On short notice, they were able to cater a delicious buffet of chicken and steak fajitas with all the fixings, from beans and rice to toppings and shells. The food was a total hit and incredibly delicious! We enjoyed leftovers for days and loved every bite. Working with Jose himself was such a treat. He was personable, accommodating, and genuinely wanted to make our day special, and he did just that. He and his team worked perfectly within our time frame and had everything set up and ready to go by the time we arrived at our reception. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience or a better meal!
Cassidy H — Google review
We have been here several times. (And that is probably an understatement) And this has got to be the worst experience here we have ever had. The food was absolutely tasteless. The music, well let's just say I have been in bars that wasn't so loud. Our waitress we had to point out what we wanted on the menu several times. Then we wanted a simple Cheese dip with Ground Beef in it. (This was before we realized just how nasty the Ground Beef was) We got charged for some other item that was like $10.99. We ended up asking for Togo containers that we put the rice and meat from my wife's tacos and my burrito in so we can take it home to see if our dog will even attempt fate. We also asked for Togo cup with drinks. No ice just drinks. We got brought 2 empty cups. Seriously our drinks were over half gone. The best part of our meal was the chips and salsa they bring to the table when you come in. Also to add insult to injury. We were also charged for someone's food that was getting a Togo order themselves. Hope their tasted better than ours. Jose I hope that you do not condone this. I hope that this was just a fluke. Jose we used to see you there all the time. I think that you need to start coming back around before this restaurant is ran into the ground.
Shellie S — Google review
Great food and absolutely fantastic service. We joined another hockey team for a joint team dinner and the staff provided the side room for us all to dine in. It was perfect. Our group was about 50, and the staff did a great job taking orders and getting food out quickly. It was an absolute joy and Jose should be proud of his great staff!
Jeremy G — Google review
We have visited this location many many times over the years and have always had a great experience that was until today first We asked for a table and was placed in a booth no biggie. Then we get Jessi M for a waitress and not sure if she don't understand English or what but we had to repeat or show her menu to what we wanted to order so ordered our drinks and took our food order we told Jessi M we wanted cheese dip with ground beef for appetizer well she brought it with our food 🙄 I ordered 2 ground beef tacos with cheese and a side of rice my husband ordered a burrito a taco and rice this whole meal was tasteless except for the chips and salsa that we get. This has not been our experience in the past. So we were very surprised there was no taco taste to the tacos at all. So then we ask for to go boxes to take this to see if our 2 dogs will eat it. And asked Jessi M for 2 drinks to go with no ice, she brings us 2 empty cups 🙄 so we put what little soda we had left in them and said forget it then my husband pays the bill and looks we are charged for a dip we didn't order and a to go order for a bean dip again we didnt order this is very sad for Jose's not sure about returning anytime soon but if the day comes we take another chance We will not let Jessi M be our waitress.

The restaurant is often busy during Packer or Badger games and offers family-friendly service. First time visiting the burger company after moving into town. Definitely worth the visit and time spent. My wife got the wild West Burger and I got the chilaquiles burger. Super delicious. The environment and team are super welcoming and polite. Service is fast too will definitely be coming back in the future.

Dark bar atmosphere serving burgers. Not recommended for vegetarian options. Being a burger restaurant, I had high hopes for a home made black bean or veggie burger. No luck.... Frozen patty on a bun with a soggy slice of lettuce for $13. Definitely overpriced. The kids mini cheeseburgers and the other regular burger was good. But not worth a repeat visit.

Great service and food. Monster burger was 1/2 pound and cooked perfect. Fries were beer battered and extra crispy. Appetizers were great too Cheese Curds and Fried Pickle Chips.
Darin A — Google review
Great place the fish tacos were very tasty and the Chipotle burger was great too. Beer battered fries had just the right crispness to them. These were just two of the items I had tried off the list but there seems to be many others I would try as well. There was plenty of seating upon arrival which was also a plus and being staffed was also a great experience! Staff was very tentative.

Really enjoyed my visit to this hidden gem. My bacon chipotle burger was easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, and paired with a couple cold spotted cows it will be hard to beat. What made the visit was the service though. All of the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in the area

The Little Village Cafe is an authentic 1940s diner that serves up a diverse selection of American cuisine with a unique twist. This down-to-earth joint, located in Baraboo, Wisconsin, has been recognized as one of the top eateries in the area on TripAdvisor. Listed on the National Historic Registry, this restored diner retains its original decor and ambiance from the 1940s. From delectable soups to mouthwatering desserts, their menu caters to all taste buds.
What a fantastic find on the corner of downtown Baraboo. This cafe is just as charming as the town it calls home. We stopped in on a recommendation and were treated to the most wonderful lunch by a kind staff. You can literally see how happy the folks who run this place are and there's a reason this cafe has the history it has. Definitely a must stop if you're passing through or in to visit at the nearby Devil Lakes State Park.

It was my first time visiting the Little Village Cafe. I ordered the Jamaican jerk chicken burrito, my brother ordered the sirloin burrito with rice on the side, and my mom ordered the pesto mushroom pasta with grilled chicken on top. The portions were nice and big, and the prices were great! Probably the first restaurant I’ve been to with low prices in a while. I liked my chicken burrito but I tried my brothers and enjoyed the sirloin one better. My mom’s pasta was delicious, the pesto sauce was divine. Our server was very kind and he put our food in takeaway boxes for us. The diner atmosphere is very quaint, I like the old retro vibes a lot! I love this place and we will be returning.

This place is so cute! I love the unexpected charm of the building when you walk in. The portions are a great size and well priced for what you get. Not to mention the quality! We got both lunch and dessert, it’s definitely on our “fancy night out for dinner” list of restaurants.

High quality food in a charming, small town cafe atmosphere. Everything was super fresh and delicious. (The grilled ahi tuna sandwich was the best one I've ever had). Prices are very reasonable. Portions are generous, but be sure to save room for some homemade dessert. The staff are also very warm and welcoming. This place is a gem!!

Located right at the corner on the town square across the courthouse there is a plaque on the wall outside about the history of the building. A super cute cafe - authentic counter stools, wooden booths that were as regal as church pews, a large bar and nice wine selection - it was the perfect place to grab lunch after a morning hike at Devils Lake state park. Nice vegetarian options in each menu category we tried the goat cheese and bread basket. It was a unique - and tasty - presentation i hadn't seen elsewhere, soft warm goat cheese surrounded by roasted red pepper relish, olive oil and roasted soft garlic cloves. The black bean burger is a good patty and well prepared. the black bean burrito is substantial and tasty, very filling. A glass of white wine was crisp and fresh. Service was terrific and had a small town cafe vibe from the hospitality being seated, to food recommendations and follow-up. I look forward to returning my next time in Baraboo.

Great food, friendly staff, healthy options, exceptional homemade desserts!! My favorite dessert is the Key Lime Pie and I'm dead convinced they have the best in Wisconsin! Always a 10/10 when I dine at the Little Village Cafe! I've written more reviews for this cafe on Yelp, which includes a list of some of my favorite menu items to order!

I was already pretty darn happy with my experience. Then the owner tipped the scale by offering some fly fishing suggestions after I commented on his trout themed shirt. There were a lot of positive interactions with local patrons and the staff. Wholesome.

Best broccoli cheese soup I've ever had! Well coordinated service was quick and friendly. The sandwiches and burgers perfectly cooked. Something on the menu for every taste. Cozy retro diner vibe is a perfect compliment.

GO HERE!!!
