Embark on the Borobudur Sunrise Tours for an unforgettable experience at the Borobodur Temple. The tour allows early access to the temple grounds, starting as early as 4:30 AM, and includes complimentary coffee/tea with biscuits. You can opt for a guided tour or choose a package offered by a tour operator. Visitors have praised the Dagi Hill Sunrise package, which provides an amazing experience with informative guides and punctual drivers.
Had recently opted Borobudur Sunrise Tours Dagi Hill Sunrise package which was indeed an awesome experience and highly recommend this package. The tour was guided by Mr Maryoto who was very informative and shared the intricate details of Borobudur, Prambanan and temples around. The driver Mr Adi was very timely and punctual & the car that we were given for this tour was in great condition & well maintained. All in all I highly recommend Borobudur Sunrise Tours for your holiday package planning in Yogyakarta.

(Translated by Google) We chose the tour with the Borobudur - Prambanan and Mount Mirapi option at around €100 per person. The cost is really disproportionate for the tour and the place but you have to understand that it is mainly given by the price of the temple to go up to the top. So in the end it's pretty fair. Our driver was very friendly and courteous and they provided us with great guides in all three places. The best experience is in Prambanan as far as I'm concerned. Monte mirapi can be easily avoided! The extremely negative note is that in such a tour lunch should be included and lasts all day. Or at least some local snacks!

Very nice experience at both the Borobudur and Prambanan temples ! Our guide, Andi, and the driver, Atih, were wonderful. Andi was incredibly friendly, and also knowledgeable about the history of the temples. He spoke very good English. We wanted to stop in an additional temple not foreseen in the programme because we asked for it and it was no problem at all for them. Also it was very easy to book the tour, even just one day in advance. All in all, a 5 out of 5 !!

Ramayana Ballet Prambanan is a popular attraction that presents a show near the Prambanan Temple, featuring a combination of dance and drama based on the Ramayana story. The performance showcases the traditional legend of Roro Jonggrang through dramatic movements and theatrical arrangements. The show lasts for about an hour and offers both classic and modern elements. Ticket prices are reasonable, with different seating options available.
Stunning show! The night I went, they showcased Rama, similar to the dances you'll see in Bali (kecak). Except this one was a lot better. The choreography was smoother, a grandeur pyrotechnic show, and of course... the unbeatable view of Prambanan Temple glowing majestically in the background. We wanted VIP seats and book in advance but weren't able to as weather was unpredictable, so we were told to buy on the spot. Luckily, sky was clear that night. We waited in line from 6:40pm for the 7:30pm show and the line was already a decent length, so, better get there at least an hour before if you have to go through a ticket war like we did. We were able to successfully secure VIP seats, front-row and cushy, which included light refreshments and drinks during the break - except the break was only 10 minutes, and of course there was a line, so people were still getting snacks and drinks while the second part of the show began to play. It also included access to VIP-only restrooms which was nice - newly updated restrooms. Getting in and out of the venue was easy.

We watched this music and dance performance after visiting Prambanan Temple. We arrived early but unfortunately, there is no waiting for show attendees. The restaurant there was for people who had booked a meal. The performance was interesting but interrupted by rain, upon which we had to re-assemble in the indoor hall. It was quite chaotic as the staff did not use a loudspeaker to give instructions. Nonetheless, it was a rich cultural experience watching the show.
S C — Google review
It was fun. At the beginning, the choreography was great. Then it turned into a circus with kids playing spirits. The acrobatics and breakdance were fun, but I didn't expect them at the ballet. The music equipment and the background image on the tv are mediocre. Seats are good. The story is dubbed in English but it's better to read it beforehand with ChatGPT. Overall, for the price it's a good show.
Amir S — Google review
I was so pleased to be able to see their performance again. It's worth it and mesmerizing. Not my first time to come and see Ramayana Ballet Prambanan, but it is the first time to watch it Indoor. The entrance (Trimurti) is located next to Rama Shinta Garden Resto. They're performing indoor during rainy season and outdoor the first half of the year. Ticket to be purchased online, through third party or their official website.

Booked for the outdoor extra show session at 17:30 WIB for the Rama & Sinta story. Overall, it was a good performance, but I have some notes based on my experience: - I chose the south second-class seat, and as you can see from my picture, I couldn’t capture the Prambanan Temple as the performance background like in the advertisement. I was fine with it as the performance was excellent, but it could be nice if there was more information regarding the layout. I feel like people choose and pay for the outdoor area to have the experience of watching the performance with the Prambanan Temple as the background of the show. So, tips for everyone that will watch the 17:30 show: choose the VIP section if you can, but if the VIP section is sold out, I’d recommend you choose the north side section. - I entered the outdoor amphitheater area around 17:28-ish and was kind of afraid I would miss the beginning of the show. Apparently, the show started at around 18:00 or 6 PM-ish. And again, I think the organiser could at least put this information for the public. - As someone who is kind of familiar with the story, I could at least follow the general timeline of the performance. But in my opinion, I think it would be great if the organiser could provide some sort of summary about the story and a snapshot of the characters that will appear in the performance on the official website or social media (PDF file), or provide a printed handout for those who are interested. I still give 5 stars since I really enjoyed the performance and am very happy that we have a platform to showcase and preserve our tradition, but there is definitely some room for improvement for the organiser to make the audience’s experience even better. ❤️

A Captivating Cultural Experience through the Ramayana Ballet Watching the Ramayana dance performance was a wonderful opportunity to experience how an ancient epic can be transformed into living art and culture. The show beautifully elevates the story into a modern artistic expression while honoring its traditional roots. I highly recommend getting VIP seats to fully appreciate the entire stage — the view is spectacular. With a 9th-century temple as the backdrop, the performance unfolds like a romantic dream, blending history and art in a truly magical way. The combination of powerful action scenes and elegant traditional dance creates a dynamic and unforgettable performance. The Indonesian-style happy ending adds a joyful twist, making the experience both entertaining and heartwarming. I would definitely love to see it again. Having a basic understanding of the Ramayana story beforehand will help you enjoy the performance even more. Arigato from Japan~🇯🇵

I came here to watch the Shinta Obong Show, which only takes place every Friday, with the stunning view of the three main Prambanan temples right behind the stage. The whole experience already felt special and sacred from the entrance. After getting my wristband ticket, I was welcomed with a drink that had a refreshing ginger and lemongrass taste. The show started a bit late, so we had to wait longer than expected, but with the sunset view as the backdrop, I didn’t really mind. Before the performance, the staff guided us through a short ritual where I received a frangipani flower, a wooden bracelet, and a sprinkle of holy water (if I’m not mistaken). After the show, dinner was served buffet style. The food was delicious—the highlight for me was definitely the sate klatak and the soup (I forgot the name, xixi).

It's a great experience. The dancers are very good, and the story is engaging. There are even some fireworks. The only downside was the non-VIP seating, which is just concrete. I suggest bringing something to sit on.

Tebing Breksi, also known as the Breccia Cliff, is a stunning limestone cliff located in Sambirejo Village near Yogyakarta City. This area is famous for its intricate carvings and sweeping views, making it a popular spot for tourists exploring the Prambanan Sub-District of Sleman Regency. The cliff is situated close to several renowned temples such as Prambanan, Ratu Boko, Candi Ijo, and Kalasan Temple.

The Merapi Volcano Museum is a modern educational museum located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It features exhibits dedicated to the Mt. Merapi volcano as well as other Indonesian and international volcanoes. Housed in a striking angular structure resembling a volcano, the museum showcases artifacts and ruins from the eruption of Mount Merapi, including a scale model and rock samples. Visitors can explore interactive modules, watch videos, and learn about mythologies related to the area's response to disasters.
Well maintained museum in Merapi Mountain area. The entrance fee is only 5K per person, you also can watch the documentet movie by paying extra fee 5K per person. This place is suitable for kiddos as they'll learn about history, how's volcano eruption happened and how to save their life during volcano eruption. There are a lot of simulator that they can try to lead their critical thinking. My favorite part is the kitchen that had swapped by "wedus gembel" or hot cloud during eruption and stories of the survivor. I need to hold my tears to not drop as it's so sad, they invite us to feel what they feel and how to grateful to God for saving their life during the terrible disaster. For people in Merapi, they believe that Merapi tak pernah ingkar janji (Merapi never break the promise).

great information, not great upkeep (hard when the entrance free is only 5k). worth a stop if in the area. solid displays/exhibits about volcanic/geological fundamentals, detailed history of Merapi and Indonesian volcanoes in general. whole thing takes about 20 minutes. plenty of parking and good quality roads to get there. bathrooms have no toilet paper.

Back in 2012, I often visited this place with my friend. At that time, it was always empty of visitors. I could take pictures freely without any disturbances. The only problem I encountered back then was that the roof leaked when it rained, but it seems to have been fixed now. A few days ago, I visited this place again, unfortunately, it's now crowded with visitors. Hopefully, those who visit the museum are mindful of cleanliness, avoid littering, and do not damage the exhibits.

High recommended for museum tour. All about of Geology and Volcano education. The Merapi cinema was amazing, creative, great and cool... Recommended for kids, stundents, parents etc. The price is very cheap, only 5000 rupiah but worth it!
Lintang K — Google review
This is educative for children's. I like it very much. This impressive museum is located in a striking angular structure that resembles a volcano. Exhibits dedicated to Merapi include a scale model, which demonstrates eruptions from the 18th century until today and how they altered the mountain's shape. There are vintage seismometers on display, along with a motorbike excavated from molten ash. There's an earthquake simulator, a cinema screening the story of the 2010 eruption (10,000Rp) and profiles covering volcanoes of Indonesia and the world.
Amal A — Google review
The shape of the building is iconic. The museum is very educative. I spent more than an hour here just to explore the museum and read every caption. The installations are very interesting and some of them are interactive. They have some relicts from 2010's eruption of Mt. Merapi. This place is very recommended to you who visit Jogja, especially for students.
Sheilly Y — Google review
Entrance fee is 10,000rp for foreigners. Not a expensive museum and quite interesting but it’s really a shame that it’s not well maintained. On the ground floor some panel with lights are not working anymore. On the second floor you can see that there are a lot of leaking in the rooftop and humidity already started damaging the walls.
Christele F — Google review
Merapi Volcano Museum is a great exposition of the importance and the impact of Mt. Merapi to Yogyakarta! It has all the interactive modules and rooms that will provide you the right and essential information to understand how Yogyakarta, and Indonesia, responds and treats disasters. From videos, to sculptures, and eveb mythologies, the museum offers it all. Perhaps my most favorite part is the central model in the lobby of the mountain itself. The rock samples were also fascinating. To make the experience more impactful, get a tour guide and if you are lucky, get a geologist friend who speaks the language. Unfortunately, parts of the museum show disrepair. Mold has creeped into the fiberboard ceiling and some part have decated already. They also need to update their toilets. Although they have a souvenir shop, it is better if it can have its own store so it is more noticeable. I really hope they have future plans to renovate and modernise the facility! We don't want another eruption for them to revive their drive for risk education and communication!

Taman Pelangi Jogja is a popular amusement park that features nighttime lanterns and children's rides. Due to the abundance of lampions, it is sometimes called Taman Lampion. The destination attracts many local tourists and offers numerous attractions such as a trampoline and boom boom car, though trying each one requires spending more money. Despite the average taste of food options, the large area filled with various themes and lights makes for a fun and visually attractive experience, particularly at night in the city.
One of the best places in Jogja for hanging out at night with family and friends. The area is relatively large and has many "glowing" installations to please the eyes (especially children). Almost everything is good but I think the management guys should put on some lights on the monument itself at night to make it more standout and eye catching.

A Must-Visit Culinary Spot in Yogyakarta! 😍🍄 If you’re planning a trip to Yogyakarta and looking for a unique culinary experience, Jejamuran is a place you shouldn’t miss. Eating at Jejamuran was undeniably one of the highlights of the Yogyakarta trip. The creativity in turning mushrooms into such diverse and flavorful dishes is impressive, even for non-vegetarians. It’s perfect for those who are looking to try something different yet authentically Indonesian. 🍄‍🟫Here are some recommended dishes you absolutely must try: 🍛 Tongseng Jamur 🥦 Tumis Brokoli Jamur 🫔 Botok Jamur : Wrapped in banana leaves and steamed, the botok jamur is fragrant, soft, and bursting with earthy umami flavors. It’s subtly spiced, with grated coconut enhancing the natural sweetness of the mushrooms. 🍢 Sate Jamur : One of Jejamuran’s most popular items. The mushroom satay is grilled to perfection, slightly crispy on the edges, and doused in a rich, nutty peanut sauce. Overall 10/10

Food is like just ok for their Indonesia fare…. service wise - staff not very attentive as there’s hardly anyone stationed at the outdoor dining area…. The time from when I ordered till the food is put on the table takes enough time Parking space in the restaurant area is not too spacious but enough for 3-4 cars, the other were parked in front of the restaurant

Tasty, spicy and definitely a must try. They serve only chicken satays. There's a system to follow the moment you reached the restaurant but it was seemless. Waiting time was ok (perhaps the crowd has left ) . Orders the satay merah however the other options of satay was already sold out. Overall it's worth the visit and the servers were very bubbly and enthusiastic to serve too. Recommended definitely.

Best greeter and host, great coordination & communication from the staffs.they also provide you with information regarding food preparation time. For the satay, i could say sate ratu is the halal version of manadonese satay with slightly modification. For sup kanak, you could feel the richness in the broth. Definitely will come back to try another foods on their menu

Arrived late on a Saturday afternoon to a long but fast-moving queue. Register your name with the staff on the right lane; the left lane is for when your table is almost ready. The menu is simple. Chicken satay comes in two styles: sate merah (spicy) and sate kanak (less spicy), though our 11-year-old still found it quite hot. We had to order an extra chicken soup for him, as there weren’t many kid-friendly options. The chicken skin satay uses the same spicy seasoning as sate merah. While it tastes more like a spicy chicken kebab, I still prefer the classic Indonesian satay with rich peanut sauce. Satay Ratu, as they say, was originally made for foreign palates.

Nice, typically javanese food sweet and spicy.. the most popular menu is sate merah.. the chiken meat is really tender and cook well, the taste is sweet but spicy (for local people maybe is not spicy as well) you can taste the sweet from palm sugar (gula aren) and combine with another spices like lemon grass and other but not to strong, the portion is quite small just 5 pcs of satay but enought for one person, the sate lilit basah (wet) the taste is not to strong enought like balineses spices, chiken meat combine with tofu and egg and is like omelete taste like sate lilit. 💫 the place is quiet crowded, it's not match if you bring a group of people, idealy for 2-3 person and thats place just for eat like resto ✨ The service is really nice, easy for order by wrbsite and so many staff can help you The price relative is not to expensive if we compare with services and food, really worth for try, especially for food lover ❤️ and you only pay with 💸 cash only, prepare your currency..

I love the red satay. It's spicy, but not too spicy. The HOU drink is especially good. The staff are also friendly; I asked them anything and they answered it clearly.

Indonesian restaurant
The Warung Kopi Klotok is a small, traditional Indonesian coffee shop where the quality of the coffee is unmatched. The atmosphere is calming and inviting, perfect for spending an early morning relaxing. The breakfast menu is limited but tasty, and you can sit anywhere you like. The coffee is also great, so if you're in the area be sure to stop by!
A must go when you’re in Jogja but be ready for long queues on weekends or holiday season. Feels like you are visiting your grandmother house in the remote village. Serving very affordable humble comfort food and you can get full meal for 20K ($1.5). There are no complex and exquisite tastes or five stars service, but the view and experience are priceless…

Have to put an effort to go here, because it is bit far from Jogja city center. However you will fond a rice field scenery to enjoy with your meals. The foods are delicious like a Indonesian homemade foods. I love the tea, such an original java tea, can taste the bitterness there. The fried banana is the iconic item here. Not trying the Kopi Klotok since Im not a coffee person, somehow it looks nice.

Budget friendly meal with good service. Clean place with great service. The only downside is that you have to find your own table and when crowded it becomes a headache. They have one of the best banana fritter I have ever tasted. Oh I'm also amazed how clean the toilet is!

You have to come very early in the morning. We came before 7am but there were already many people there and the line was already long. I tried all the menu , because I want to try all the traditional dishes. Fried banana so deliciouse and the "Kopi Tubruk" was smell and taste good.

The vibes are so good to have dinner with family and friends. When we arrived, we confused how to order, but the staff was so kind to direct us to self served area. So, we took a small portion of rice, fried eggs, fried tempeh, sayur lodeh with lots of soup, chili paste/sambal and krupuk/ cracker. Then we order iced tea and coffee and the best ‘banana fritters’. We ate with a view of rice paddy and the Merapi. It’s a deliciously experience

Went there at lunchtime on a weekday. It was very crowded, but luckily we got a super comfy spot, even though it was a little far from the kitchen. It was right under the grapevine 🌿🍇. We were lucky the weather was gloomy, so it didn’t feel hot. Even my daughter fell asleep 😂😂 The pisang goreng was to die for!!! Seriously sooo delicious 😭😭😭 Other food was yummy too, but the fried banana is my fave. Definitely coming back for their PISANG GORENG 🫶🏻🫶🏻

One of the best places we went to eat at in Jogja. It was a good experience eating local cuisine. There was a long queue but it moved quickly. The food was not something we usually eat but it tasted great anyways. Actually went there to try the pisang goreng - wasn't disappointed. In Singapore, we usually chope a place to eat before q-ing. There, we queued first and chose a place to sit later on. Plenty of seating! There's even a place to sit on mats outside. Nice ambience, place was clean too! ❤️

Warung Kopi Klotok offers a variety of simple, home-style dishes such as sayur lodeh, sayur asem, crispy eggs, fried chicken, along with local snacks like fried banana and jadah. The system is buffet-style, where you take your own rice and side dishes. Prices are very affordable, and payments can be made either in cash or via QRIS. The place is clean and has a charming village atmosphere, surrounded by rice fields. Seating options include regular tables as well as traditional floor seating on mats. However, the prayer room (mushola) is quite small, so it can get crowded when the place is busy. Service is friendly and efficient, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Warung Kopi Klotok is a great spot to enjoy authentic local food in a warm, countryside setting.

Family restaurant
Gadjah Wong Restaurant is an enchanting destination for a romantic evening, perfect for impressing your special someone. The restaurant boasts a traditional interior that exudes charm and offers top-notch service akin to that of a five-star hotel. With five distinct dining areas, each with its own unique ambiance, you can choose the perfect setting for your meal.
Amazing restaurant - great food, great service. Brought my parents here for their wedding anniversary. They were impressed by the ambience and by the food compared to other restaurants we visited in Yogyakarta. The fish in particular was extremely fresh. Dessert was served after the mains, and all the waitresses came out to celebrate the occasion with my family. The owner also dropped by to wish them happy anniversary. It’s a memorable experience and I hope we can drop by again when we’re back in Yogyakarta. Do note, however, that the restaurant is not air-conditioned, so there could be mosquitoes, but the restaurant will provide mosquito repellant.

First visit here, heard a lot of great things actually. One being of the legend Resto here in Jogja. It sure does not disappoint 👌🏻 Entering the restaurant was a delight trip, down to various corridors, it exudes the olden rustic vintage days, love it. Servers too were all courteous and helpful towards all our needs. Most excellent. The food and drink were all awesome in each of their presentation and taste. Made me regret to not come here years n years ago 😅 A job well doe to the owner & management for pertaining such heritage for us customers to experience n enjoy✨ Highly recommended in my book fer sure💪🏻

This was highly recommended and it was walking distance from the Marriott where we were staying. The food and service was impeccable. Although I must say with the heat and humidity of Yogja they might consider outside fans for comfort. We had a sampling of dishes and each was very well done and delicious. Unfortunately the atmosphere was underwhelming. We were the only customer. There was a singer and pianist. While some might say great as you had the entire restaurant to yourself...for us it was a bit sad to be surrounded by empty tables. Don't know what was going on. Hopefully business picks up for them as it was good food and service.

This restaurant was a wonderful anniversary discovery! The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the prices are great for the quality. The atmosphere is lovely, and I would definitely recommend they offer wine for their foreign guests. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Immerse yourself in a multi-sensory dining experience at Gajah Wong Yogyakarta, a pioneering establishment offering a vibrant fusion of Indonesian and international cuisine. Situated alongside the city's lifeblood, the Gajah Wong River, the restaurant itself is an architectural adventure. Explore different levels, each decorated with traditional flair, culminating in a hidden gem - a secret garden overlooking the flowing water. The culinary journey doesn't disappoint. Flavors burst forth with each expertly plated dish, a marriage of creativity and authenticity. Whether you seek classic Indonesian fare or a taste of the world, your palate will be delighted. But the magic truly lies in the service. Warm smiles and genuine hospitality accompany attentive staff, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience. Don't be surprised if time melts away as you savor each course, the atmosphere inviting you to linger and unwind. In summary, Gajah Wong Yogyakarta is more than just a restaurant; it's a destination. Indulge in exquisite flavors, immerse yourself in the unique ambiance, and let the friendly service guide you on an unforgettable culinary adventure. We had a Valentine dinner and although a few dishes were sold out, we really enjoyed this experience. We would like to thank the kind waitress and chef of making an unique start of  our evening

Every time I visit my parents, it's always a treat to come here. The food was amazing as per usual, with a nicely mixed menu. Sadly and understandably, the vibe was not the same as it once was prior to covid, since the live music was definitely one of the draws. It did seem somewhat quiet for a Saturday night, but more guests were arriving as we were leaving at 7:30PM. The wife defintely enjoyed her experience, whilst my youngest daughter was captivated by the outdoor ambience and the many geckos and bats in the night sky. Definitely one to visit every time I return back to Jogja

A friend referred to this place, claiming it’s known as a fine dining place in Yogyakarta. It’s decorated after Javanese traditional, but the menu is undoubtedly international. I chose an Indian dish Rogan Josh, and boy, it is unmistakably Indian! It brought me back to taste and smell in New Delhi—what I like and what not. I tested a piece of the grilled duck; it was also tasty. I want to extend my appreciation for how they provide cold-free beer glasses. It’s a nifty way to distinguish between dedicated restaurants and those not.
