Museum
Nestled in the historic Westwego City Hall, which dates back to the early 1900s, the Westwego Historical Museum has been a treasure trove of local history since its establishment by the Westwego Historical Society in 1984. This charming museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich heritage of Westwego and its surrounding areas. Visitors can immerse themselves in an array of exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays that narrate fascinating stories about the city's past.
Lady who works here is very knowledgeable about the history and the area. Amazing museum. The city got its name from the train conductors who would stop here then announce "last stop before west we go". 45 minute video is well worth the watch. There is just so much to look at and see. Wonderful place to stop in. Come on out and take a look see.
Andrea F — Google review
I have yet to go to the museum. I went twice to tour the museum but the museum was closed both times. The first time I went was on a Tuesday. It was closed. The lady at City Hall said they are open in the weekends. I went there on Saturday. They were closed. I went after 10 am. There was a note on the entrance gate saying they would be open the next day. I called and left a message. They never called back. I called Monday and left a message. They never called back. I called numerous times in the past; they did not call back. They did, one time, respond to an email I sent. My great-grandfather owned the Gordon and GEM theatres and they supposedly have the organ and two seats from his theatre in there but at this rate, I will never see them.

So cool, I could spend a life time looking though all of the stuff! Definitely worth the $5 a person. They only take cash though.

Great little museum on the first Street in Westwego. The curator was very knowledge and have us a great tour and history of the town and the building that houses the museum. The artifacts and how it's set up really pull you back in to the early days of Westwego.

Nature & Parks
Audubon Park is a charming destination located north of the Mississippi River in New Orleans. The park offers a variety of activities such as jogging and bike paths, tennis courts, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. It also features a scenic lagoon surrounded by beautiful oak trees. Additionally, the park holds historical significance as it hosted the Worlds Fair in 1898. Visitors can explore this historic site while enjoying the natural beauty and wildlife that inhabit the area.
A Peaceful Green Escape in the Heart of the City Audubon Park is a beautiful oasis in New Orleans — the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. I took the streetcar out and walked through the park on my way to the zoo, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the day. The wide paths are great for walking, running, or biking, and the canopy of trees offers plenty of shade — which was especially appreciated on a warm June afternoon. It’s peaceful, scenic, and full of charm, with locals and visitors alike out enjoying the space. Whether you’re heading to the zoo or just looking for a relaxing stroll, Audubon Park is a lovely spot to slow down and soak in the natural beauty of the city.
Stephen B — Google review
Wonderful urban park situated at the back end of the garden district, yet feels rather remote and distant from the roar of traffic and city life. This park was lovely, and had a very relaxing feel to it, unlike city park which felt more like a location one goes for activities such as golf, football practice or disc golf. The path was very nice, wide enough for pedestrians, dogs and cyclists alike, and runs parallel to a lovely stream. Forget your woes and come down and enjoy this lovely little breath of scenery.
Max R — Google review
Large, beautiful park. Convenient for locals and worth the drive for west-bankers.
Theresa D — Google review
Beautiful. I visited in the early morning and was already packed with people walking and running. What a beautiful place to enjoy God's creation. Very safe and perfect for exercise.
Giselle S — Google review
What a beautiful park! Well-manacured, serene trails, delightful fountain. I spent more time here than I thought I would. The park is directly across from Loyola and Tulane, yet many families with young children were enjoying themselves. There were several walkers, bikers and joggers but the park wasn't crowded or noisy. Just a great stop off the St Charles streetcar line!
Jen P — Google review
Nice environment, loved the bike trail and playgrounds. The random tree swings are also a nice touch. Restrooms are decent.

Embark on the ultimate swamp adventure with Cajun Captains in New Orleans, LA. Their covered swamp tour boats offer plenty of shade and they have small and large airboats for thrill-seekers. The experience includes a shuttle service, a charming restaurant at the swamp, and a knowledgeable tour guide who shares fascinating stories about the bayou. Despite encountering cold weather, visitors enjoyed seeing alligators, birds, and stunning scenery during the boat ride.
We got to go on a small airboat ride last week, and it was a total blast! Even though it was October, it was still warm, and we saw several alligators, plenty of birds, and even an eagle! Our guide was super chill, but friendly and fun, and gave us the full experience. I never knew alligators liked marshmallows! We did the hotel pickup option and transportation was easy and quick. I highly recommend this company!
Stefanie D — Google review
The tour was amazing! On our way there, our bus driver Hilary was witty and exciting, and he pointed out spots as we went to the swamp. Our tour guide James was super informative and kept us entertained the whole time. You could tell he is genuinely passionate about the swamp. I'm so glad we came here!
Madi A — Google review
Such a great experience! Our guide, Tom, was so knowledgeable & answered the million questions we had! We fed multiple alligators, saw snakes, turtles, a variety of birds, etc. A raccoon ran through the marsh to catch up with us. Tom had treats already prepared in case we saw her so we got to hand feed her. She was adorable!!! The wildlife out there must know when Tom is coming. He kissed most of the gators we encountered. 🐊 ♥️
Monica T — Google review
Nick was an outstanding host and fun guide. We decided to take the pontoon boat verses the airboat and I’m very happy with our choice. Nick still brought us into plenty of spots full of wildlife including to meet the swamp raccoon. The weather could not of been better too. Highly recommend for an afternoon adventure.
Dianna L — Google review
OMG! I wanted to do an airboat tour of the bayou on this visit and boy did we have a great time! I got lots of pictures and videos and even got a good fresh water soaking from Captain Tom hitting the waves just right ..😳🙄😜 We didn't see a lot of gators but we saw a few smaller ones...several species of birds...a few turtles and a raccoon that we got up close enough to feed oranges! This was the best first experience ever and well worth the money spent. I'm not sure if this is a normal experience but if you come to New Orleans, take a drive over the bridge and do a bayou tour! Captain Tom is very down to earth and more than likely, he'll have snacks to feed the animals....not sure if I should say that but it worked! The water was cold and the faster he went, the more I wished I had long sleeves but sitting in the sun while he gave us a little history was pretty cool. He did a photo for every couple on the boat to have with the nature and cypress trees in the background that makes beautiful memories. Thanks Captain Tom! If you want to do a tour of the bayou definitely do the airboat! It was exciting! We'll be back or at least do this again for sure. They have a cute gift shop and food/ drinks you can get before/ after your experience....the guys were eating fresh crabs for lunch and while I wanted to ask for a claw...😳...they referred us to a place that had crabs that were delicious! He even told us about the cabins on can rent on the bayou so we'll be looking into those for the next trip down as well.
Ashley S — Google review
Despite the amazing reviews, we have to be honest and say that it was a disappointment. The service was excellent. I won’t lie there. Our shuttle driver made a boring drive from the city entertaining even if it was with just silly stories or local sites that were probably more meaningful to her than us but that was ok. Our boat driver was full(!) of knowledge but we could only grasp maybe(?) 15% of what he said. He spoke soooooo fast and that, coupled with a poor mic system (very tinny), made it possible to only grasp key words like “left” or “right” or “alligator”. When he stepped away from the mic and when we looked at his Mouth to try and read his lips, it was easier but who wants to look at lips when there is beauty about? Speaking of beauty…. This would be our 3rd swamp tour and the least appealing visually. The last two were taken up in the NE part of Lake Ponchetrain (can’t recall company) but it was awesome. Ultimate Swamp doesn’t bury you in the bayou. Yes, We saw Spanish Moss and plenty of cypress trees and knees but nothing(!) like what we have seen before. Past trips allowed us to also see wild pigs/hogs, turtles, snakes, plenty of birds, and more alligators. Now, out of fairness, maybe the time of year made a difference and that’s no fault of the tour company but do your research on this bayou. It’s way too close to roads and civilization and not very wild and dense. We picked ultimate swamp adventures because of the great reviews. Wish I had done more homework. Maybe other reviewers were first-timers and, of course, who wouldn’t be impressed with the experience? They have nothing to compare with. If this is your second, I’d advise against it. It won’t impress other than the great staff. Sorry, Ultimate Swamp.. I hate to give a poor review but have to be sure that future fellow travellers know.
KIM D — Google review
My friend and I went on a boat tour with Nick in August 2025, and it was incredible! The experience was the perfect mix of educational, fun, and adventurous. Nick is friendly, patient with everyone’s questions, and clearly passionate about what he does. He respects the wildlife and shares his knowledge in a way that makes the tour both exciting and meaningful. We lucked out with amazing weather and a great group, and we saw several baby alligators, a few larger ones, Marsha the raccoon, lots of birds, and even some giant crickets! It was such a memorable adventure. I highly recommend this tour—especially with Nick as your guide. 10/10!
Jennifer F — Google review
Amazing!! Captain Tom was personable, funny, and very knowledgeable!! He stopped and let us take pics and also took some of us. I would be careful when booking tho, book at the place if you can because the number you call is a 3rd party company, they will over charge you and also give you wrong information...

My husband and I dined there twice and both times were exceptional. The food is amazing and the customer service is top tier! (They had a banana cake one time that I cannot forget, lol.) The absolute best! Try them out if/when in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Very soulful food. Got a chance to meet Mrs. Estralita herself and she was as warm and welcoming as I could imagine! I am vegan, and ordered the collard greens and mixed vegetables. Big portions for the price. Highly recommend this restaurant for its ingredients and amazing customer service.

My husband and I have went to this beautiful location where the service is great. The staff is friendly and professional. Oh my, oh my, the food is always wonderful and prepared with old southern traditional love. The price is fair and it is worth the wait, cost, and awesome food experience.
Tamika T — Google review
As a person who has lived in other states and see how they do business and what makes them successful it is never an enigma to me on why Louisiana is the way that it is. Nobody respects or observes much even the things they committed to like BUSINESS HOURS! If your hours are posted observe them. There is no reason that a business should have posted hours and you show up prior to that time to a locked door and upon calling they advise “yes, we do normally close at 4pm but we closed a little early today.” No apology for the inconveniences or offer to rectify at all… I mean I’m directly outside! To be clear I tried to place an order by phone about a half hour before close and was denied therefore I went over and made it 15 minutes prior to closing to a locked door and here we are. My dollars can be allocated elsewhere not to patronize a business that doesn’t respect their customers. Yes, I could have saved the review but principal dictates that I don’t!

Restaurant
Segnette Landing Harbor Front Dining offers a delightful dining experience with a variety of mouthwatering dishes. The crab dip appetizer, Chicken & Sausage gumbo, White beans, Crab Cakes, Crawfish meatpie, and Fried shrimp caesar salad are highly recommended. The Baked Oyster Elmwood is particularly outstanding and the shrimp and grits are a must-try. The restaurant also features a charming patio for cooler weather and offers handmade items for sale.
Looking to stay on the Westbank and was told about this place. From the atmosphere, service, and the food it was great. My husband ordered the special of shrimp and grits with andouille sausage with tomato glaze. I had the crawfish pie with asparagus and cherry tomatoes. They were both so good. You will not leave hungry. Will definitely go back.
Dina I — Google review
Had a great meal at Segnette’s Landing! The fried catfish and crab cakes were delicious, and the drinks were also really good. The service was prompt, friendly, and attentive, which made the experience even better. The only downside was the mac and cheese, which fell a bit flat compared to the rest of the meal. Overall though, it was a really solid dining experience, and I’d definitely come back to try more of the menu!

Great place to eat after you’ve done a boat tour. Really friendly staff, very attentive was never left waiting for anything. Lemonade 1/2 full? A new one served without asking. Struggling to finish your food? Offer of a to go box before you’ve even thought about it. Not finished your lemonade before you’ve leave? Yep you guessed it a to go cup offered. I had the crab cakes with a side of jambalaya and all I can say is they are the best crab cakes I have ever eaten. Full of flavour, the perfect crunch and boy were they huge so make sure you come on an empty stomach otherwise you’ll need a to go box like me. They have a lovely deck overlooking the river but inside is lovely and cool

It was a little rocky at first. No one was in the front entrance, so we went to the back entrance. The server told us to go back to the front, and someone would help us. This lady showed up and started to help us and noticed a couple that she knew and proceeded to assist them instead of seating us first. She finally bought us to a table and said someone would be with you shortly. Brigitte was our server, and then things got a whole lot better. She was friendly and served us well. The crabcake was awesome. The rest of the food was good.
C V — Google review
OH MY GOD we came here on vacation and did the swamp tour and came here to have some good New Orleans food. We have been here for two days, and this is the first time we feel completely satisfied with the quality of service the ambience the server the quality of food is not overly salty seasoned just right I mean, I don’t even know what else to say about this place but I feel very satisfied. I got the crawfish pie and my friend got the braised beef and we had two swamp waters each as well as some waters with a side of bread pudding. Every single thing we were served was hot on time to serve with a smile and perfectly flavorful. Let me not forget the manager was our server and she was AMAZING so genuine I could feel it! ❤️❤️🐊🐊

We ate here two days in a row it was that good. I had the Creole white beans with andouille and shrimp yesterday and the Mardi Gras catfish smothered in crawfish étouffée today. Both were excellent but the Mardi Gras catfish was AMAZING. 10/10.
J. L — Google review
Food was terrific. Our server was very nice. I highly recommend getting a crab cake. Best crab cake I’ve ever had. Pick an evening when the weather is nice and go sit on the back porch while you eat.

Had a great dining experience at Segnette Landing. We had the crab dip, wings, and the Mardi Gras catfish which is fried catfish with crawfish etouffee. My son had the burger, Mac and cheese and French fries. He loved it all! We also finished with pecan pie which was to die for! Everything was perfect! It is a hidden gem with great photo opportunities! Can't wait to go back.

We're in from out of state & staying on the NShore. We met up with 2 from E Bank & 2 from W Bank, (6 total) Good B'fast for all...my 1st time trying B'fast! We like WGxC so much, that after visiting with family, B4 heading to the NShore, we went back for supper! 2 bowls of Gumbo (chicken & seafood) served with potato salad & french bread...we also shared small onion rings. All was very good! Service also great! We highly recommend! I turned my friend from E Bank on to WGxC a couple of yrs ago & she stops in often when on the W Bank! Some of the best places to eat, in my opinion, are the smaller, low key places like WeGeaux Cafe...keep it up!!!😋

I definitely recommend the corn and crab soup and salad with Italian dressing, both were delicious! The others in our group ordered hamburger steaks, they all gave it a 10 and said they would definitely order it again. The service was ok, but something they can work on.

Went to get dinner at 6:45 pm on Friday night and they were closed even though the posted hours and online said they were open until 7pm. We really wanted to try their po boys while we were in the area. We planned on getting them to go but to no avail since they either closed early or are closed permanently.

Cool place to have good ribs and chicken. We had the ribs combo with macncheese, coleslaw and dirty rice. They have a cozy place to eat or you can take out, park places right in front. This place is a hidden gem in New Orleans. Must visit family owned place. Thanks for having us!

I really enjoyed the food here. I had Ribs, Chicken and Brisket. The dirty rice and potato salad was amazing ... If you a brisket lover be prepared to drop an extra 10.00 upcharge!

Food was GREAT, but they were out of everything I wanted by time I got there (so keep that in mind & go EARLY lol). Got the seafood potato, the Yakamein, & a chicken wing plate. With a $4 tip my total was $52 which isn't a bad price. Potato was so delicious, but for some reason after a few bites I had to RUN to the potty. Might be because it's hella cheesy idk. Would come back if ever in the area! Worth it in my opinion.

EXCELLENT! Ribs were fall off the bone tender and FRESH and tasted perfect, no sauce even needed. Pulled pork was phenomenal, my husband said the best he ever had. Sides were pretty good but the meat is the star of the show. And the people were really friendly. We will definitely be back! 2 food snobs, and we 10/10 recommend. No pics because we couldn’t wait to dig in after the gentleman gave us a sample rib while we waited! This place is golden!
Angelle H — Google review
Ordered from this place after finding them on google maps. The pictures made it look so good so I placed an order online. I ordered the ribs plate, the shrimp plate and the pork chop plate. They provided options for grilled pork chops and grilled shrimp which is a nice option. The only disappointment was that they didnt have yams available as a side, but to be fair I was picking up my order later in the day. Perhaps they are popular and go quickly. The potato salad and baked beans were good with a little kick. The green beans were delicious and my nephew rated the mac and cheese a 10! The ribs were falling off the bone and delicious, and my mom said the shrimp were really tasty. I picked up my order and they offered a curbside delivery which was greatly appreciated. Would definitely order from here again. **Sorry, no pics to share. We were hungry and the food was so good we forgot to take any.

After reading the reviews we hurried here hoping the food wouldnt be all gone. We got the 3 meats plate with brisket, ribs, & pulled pork.($10 upcharge for brisket) For the side we got mac n cheese, baked beans, & dirty rice. My youngest daughter got the brisket sandwich w/fries. The mac n cheese, baked beans, & dirty rice was all flavorful & delicious. This was an $80.00 meal. Everything was good but the brisket. It was tough as if it was pulled & sliced too early off the grill. And I was disappointed cause I really wanted some brisket. I probably would've turned back around & sent it back. But, I'm in constant pain & just wanted to get off my leg. Would I eat here again..more than likely, I just wont get brisket.
