Granville Island is a charming cultural and artistic hub in Vancouver, known for its daily public market featuring over 50 food vendors. The island underwent a major transformation in the 1970s, turning from a polluted industrial site into one of Vancouver's most beloved attractions. Visitors can explore artisan studios, cozy cafes, and a two-level kids market. The bustling public market offers an array of goods including fresh produce, local eats, crafts, and more.
We walked to the island from Kitsilano via the beach front, which is definitely worth doing, the island itself is very tourists driven, however it is also a popular shopping area, for locals, we loved just walking around taking it all in there are many galleries to enjoy as well as the souvenir shops. All in all wonderful experience.

Granville Island is a must-visit in Vancouver! This vibrant spot offers a mix of: - Fresh food at the Public Market - Local artisans and handmade crafts - Live street performers - Craft beers at Granville Island Brewing Co. - Stunning waterfront views A perfect blend of creativity, community, and fun. It is also a tourist trap
Blessing O — Google review
Granville Island is a unique spot with a lot of character, though my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. As someone with no sense of direction, I found the layout of the island a little challenging to navigate. The network of alleys, industrial-style buildings, and indoor/outdoor market spaces had me doing a few loops! The gloomy, overcast weather that day didn't help, casting a slightly subdued and industrial feel over the place. However, the heart of the island is undoubtedly the Public Market. It's a vibrant hub bursting with life, where I loved wandering past the fantastic food stands and unique artisan stores. The location right on the water is a major plus. Being next to the pier made it incredibly easy for us to take a scenic ferry ride directly to downtown Vancouver, which was a highlight. I arrived fairly early on a weekday, so it was much less crowded than I had anticipated. The downside was that several restaurants were still closed until nearer to noon.

Most Visited It’s easy to see why this place draws so many people — it has that mix of light, sound, and life that just pulls you in. On a sunny day, the waterfront feels golden, with sailboats drifting past and music from the market carrying through the air. The outdoor shops are great for a slow wander, and inside the market there’s food from every corner of the world. And if you love cheese, the little cheese shop is a must.
Martin V — Google review
Sept. 19/25: Haven’t been here for a long time as parking is limited and all pay. It’s too bad because it’s definitely a tourist destination and I’m sure the many businesses would appreciate more parking. The public market is a draw with its vast array of everything gourmand, sights and sounds enticing. Lee’s Donuts is a big draw here, look up for the filled donuts as the brightly coloured iced donuts are displayed in front at people level. Fresh filled cappaletta, fresh basil, variety of cheeses and pastry was purchased. Everything looks very fresh but not light on the wallet.
DLH — Google review
A lot of unique shops and vendors. Most shops weren't open yet when we came so we couldn't explore much. People there are friendly and welcoming. Some were not. A lot of the souvenir items were pricer than other places in Vancouver.
EBS — Google review
A lovely place in central Vancouver to visit! There is a public market that is indoors are has so much to offer-vendors selling all sorts of handmade items, foods, desserts, fruits and vegetable, gift items too! We had some fish and chips inside the public market and it was absolutely delightful. You can also grab a coffee and take a walk or sit and enjoy the city views from the dock. The only thing to note is that it can be a little challenging to find parking as this is a popular spot, parking is also metered so you have to pay for it as well.

Granville Island is a wonderful place to spend the day! It has a wide variety of shops, bakeries, and restaurants offering something for everyone. You’ll find everything from toys for kids and pet supplies to handmade jewelry, clothing, unique gifts, crafts, paintings, and more. It’s also home to several theaters, and there are always cultural events happening — like plays, dance performances, and live concerts. It’s a very complete and vibrant place, perfect for locals and tourists alike. Getting there is easy too — whether by car, bus, sea taxi, or even on foot.

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Nestled within the stunning surroundings of Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is a must-visit destination for families and marine enthusiasts alike. This beloved attraction offers an incredible opportunity to explore both local and exotic aquatic life, showcasing over 65,000 animals including playful sea otters, charming penguins, and majestic sea turtles. For more than six decades, it has been dedicated to education and conservation rather than flashy performances.
Great sea otter program by Vanessa! Super engaging and loved getting to know more about the otters. Also really enjoyed the seal feeding and getting to know more about the rescues! The entire aquarium was a blast, got to see so many amazing creatures, the pacific and tropical sections are beautiful. Highly recommend getting tickets online, and they have a great student discount. 10/10 would recommend for a great half day trip.
Jessica C — Google review
It's an excellent place to visit as long as it's not too busy. On the smaller side compared to other aquariums I've been to but there's lots of small exhibits for the animals they take care of. Definitely recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds, and if you live in the area, maybe consider buying a yearly membership as it pays for itself after 2-3 visits and the single day passes are very expensive.
Millie M — Google review
A fantastic experience! The staff were really friendly, there is a lot of variety of animals and things to see, plus the facts to each exhibit are really interesting and fun to read! The gift shops are really cool, it is really easy to buy too many things! I would love to visit again
Peter S — Google review
A decently sized aquarium. I would say you can expect to spend up to three hours here. Be sure to catch the Sea Lion show and the 4D movie. As for parking, I was able to get a great spot by arriving about 40 minutes before opening. They actually let us in before the official opening time, which was a nice bonus. I found the aquarium more memorable than the one in Seattle. Being situated inside Stanley Park is also a big plus. As a heads-up, if you’re visiting with multiple people, it may be more cost-effective to purchase a Platinum Membership rather than individual tickets.

An impressive and well designed aquarium featuring a diverse collection of marine life and reptiles. While the building isn’t huge, it’s perfectly sized for an excellent experience where you can explore and learn about different kind of species from around the world.

Fantastic experience! The Vancouver Aquarium is beautifully maintained, educational, and full of incredible marine life. Perfect for families and ocean lovers. Parkind could be tricky on busy days. Plan ahead to spend time and watch every exibit without missing any.
Supun J — Google review
Located inside Stanley Park, this is a nice aquarium with many animal species. There are many fishes that we had never seen before. Apart from the friendly seals, they don't have anything large or monstrous, if you are looking for that. They keep good care of the animals. Even nook & corners of the enclosures were being cleaned. We were a bit surprised that they are one of the largest as we were done with the tour within 2 to 3 hours, so it's not a day spend.
Leegi B — Google review
Spent $54 buying online the same day we went to the aquarium. Highly recommend purchasing tickets online since the line is very long and pre-purchasing tickets skips the WHOLE line by a lot. Spent a good 4 hours with rests in between and shows mixed in overall. They have a wide variety of all kinds of animals that will keep you entertained. Great for kids and wheelchair usage. Very worth the trip

Nature & Parks
Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver offers a rugged-terrain forest with well-maintained trails, showcasing old-growth cedar and fir trees. Visitors can enjoy stunning city views and explore the conserved rainforest leading to the Point Atkinson Lighthouse. The area is known for its posh neighborhoods and scenic drives along Marine Drive, offering breathtaking coastal views. Additionally, the North Shore Mountains extend into West Vancouver, providing opportunities for summer activities in Cypress Provincial Park and winter sports during the colder months.
Beautiful and peaceful. It wasn’t crowded at all. You can take the #250 bus in the direction of Horseshoe Bay from Vancouver and get off at Beacon Lane for a short walk to the park and then there are a bunch of hikes through the forest and with views on the water, with the highlight being the light house (best seen from the west beach view). Highly recommend. The trails are very up and down and have stones/roots on the ground, so definitely watch your steps.
Elina R — Google review
Such a pretty view. The hike isn’t too bad, though it is steep at parts so kids may want to be carried at times. Can be pretty muddy on the small portions of the trail that aren’t paved. Beautiful view from the rocks up the steps, better view of the lighthouse below the housing units though.
Jake R — Google review
Lighthouse Park is a beautiful spot, and my daughter loves exploring the rocks that stretch into the ocean. The natural scenery is fantastic, but there are a couple of downsides. It would be great if visitors kept their dogs on a leash, as not everyone is comfortable around off-leash pets. Parking is a bit pricey, and it would also be a big improvement to have functional washrooms closer to the lighthouse itself.
Sergey S — Google review
Absolutely amazing park. Parking was easy to pay via your phone. Seemed to be plenty of parking. The boys loved bouldering around the shore. Can’t get super close to the lighthouse unless you ignore the sign like my young kids did. We didn’t get in trouble (seemed to be no one around), but just a warning for the parents out there the fence doesn’t continue on the east side of the lighthouse so it allows you to climb right onto the restricted area. Anyway, don’t think my boys are wanted in Canada and it is a wonderful park with great views.
Andrew B — Google review
A great place to get outdoors. Easy to get to if you're visiting the city like I was, and don't really have time to get out and explore. All of the trails were fairly short and manageable, although there were some with steep inclines and rocky, uneven bits. Beautiful views of the lighthouse and beaches, but my favorite was the old growth forests. A nice place to stretch the legs, probably even for those who aren't terribly outdoorsy.
Amira W — Google review
Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver is perfect for a day trip! The park offers multiple small and easy hikes with stunning views, especially at sunset. It’s an ideal spot for a picnic. Paid parking is available, and while there are no restrooms on the trails, you can find them at the parking lot. The park is pet-friendly, which is a bonus. Just remember to bring your own water and snacks, as there are no food or shops available on-site. Highly recommend for a peaceful outdoor escape!

Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver is a beautiful park with stunning views of the water and the Lions Gate Bridge. It's a great place for hiking, with trails that range from easy to moderate. The park is also home to some of the largest Douglas Fir trees in Greater Vancouver. Here's a quick rundown of what you can expect at Lighthouse Park: * Hiking trails: There are several trails to choose from, some of which lead to the lighthouse itself. The trails are well-maintained and easy to follow. * Views: The views from the park are truly breathtaking. You can see the Lions Gate Bridge, Vancouver Island, and the Coast Mountains. * Wildlife: Keep your eyes peeled for seals and whales in the water. * Lighthouse: The lighthouse is a beautiful sight and a popular photo spot. Overall, Lighthouse Park is a great place to spend a few hours enjoying the outdoors. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring some water!
Deependra T — Google review
Parking is free, the trail park is flat with loose gravel, They also have flush washroom to use too. We notice that while walking in the park there is some informative details regarding the history of the old cabin/house,also the trees and the bird. We go down near the water but be careful going there specially when you have small kids. Its a family friendly/dog friendly park that must be visit. You can see the building and mountain in the nice clear weather. They have lots of trail to walk with to enjoy the nature. Worth it to visit.

Concerts & Shows
Nestled in the heart of Vancouver, Science World is a captivating destination for families and young explorers. This iconic geodesic dome is brimming with interactive science exhibits that cater to children from toddlers to early teens. With engaging displays like the ever-changing Medieval Mayhem and the permanent Eureka! physics gallery, kids can immerse themselves in hands-on learning experiences. The unique Kidspace area specifically designed for little ones aged 1-3 ensures even the youngest visitors have a place to play and discover.
Lots of fun, plenty of things to do to keep kids entertained. Could do with more hand sanitizer about the place because everyone is touching everything, but it's there if you know where to look for it. Pretty good food options too! You can get a stamp for re-entry if you'd prefer to have lunch elsewhere though.

This place was amazing 👏 So many hands on things to do. We went with an 8, 7, 6 & 3 year old, they all enjoyed a full afternoon there. Admittedly the adults also very much so enjoyed themselves. We went during the week so it wasn't busy at all, that was nice. Now we could have spent HOURS in the massive Lego area!! But I did move the children along 😆 We spent 3 hours, again when not busy that was the perfect amount of time. We've been to science museums in Winnipeg, Regina, and in the states, this so far was the best!

in the summer they have science world after dark for adults with drinks, totally worth it but it’s just few days. it’s a great museum and has something for everyone. parking is sufficient and close, and outside you have park, playground and the false creek

I went to the Cirque Masquerade Ball Halloween Party held at/in Science World. At first, I was totally amazed that such an event could be held in the Science World, based on the size of the event. However, when I attended the event, I realized how big Science World facility truly is. It was a super-amazing venue that seemingly had no difficulty whatsoever to accommodate such a big event. It is such a beautiful facility that accomodated such a large event. I enjoyed meeting several new people, that were very friendly and outgoing similar to myself. I highly recommend it as an awesome place to go to events or venues. I look forward to attending more events that might be held there.

My family of 5 had a great time here. Spent almost 4 hours running around, and we didn't even make it to everything. We loved Molly of Denali, we did lego building, had lunch at Triple O's. The staff was friendly. I would say overall this was a great activity, looking forward to coming back

I had always heard great things about Vancouver’s Science World, so we came with high expectations — and it did not disappoint! The exhibits are fun, interactive, and educational. My son spent the whole day exploring with endless enthusiasm. A fantastic place for families with kids — highly recommended!

A great interactive museum for kids under the age of 10. I would highly recommend to get a membership in your hometown because you will get in free. We bought a membership in Edmonton and reaped the benefits today (bypassed the large line and got in free).
Amelia K — Google review
This is an awesome place for kids! A huge amount of interesting things to see and do. Be prepared to answer thousands of questions. They have a great playground with a water area and other things to play with, appropriate for different ages. Most of the exhibited objects are interactive and can be touched and moved. We usually attend this place once a year as our kid grows, but if you live nearby, it's great to have a membership and spend more time inside.

The Beach House Restaurant offers a coastal dining experience with a focus on local, sustainable seafood, steaks, and regional wines. Situated in Dundarave Park overlooking Howe Sound, this waterfront restaurant features a beautiful patio with stunning ocean views. The menu includes tempting dishes like Coast Bouillabaisse, wild salmon, lobster risotto, beef tenderloin, and mushroom risotto.
I recently celebrated my graduation at Beach House, with my boyfriend, and it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. The whole vibe was so warm and welcoming, every staff member was so nice, and a quiet a few even congratulated me which was super sweet. The manager came by to check in too, which made it feel extra thoughtful. Our server, Michelle, was outstanding - attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations. She suggested I should try their signature summer margarita, and wow, it was amazing; super refreshing and flavorful, the perfect drink to kick off a celebration. For food, I loved that they offered customization options(I don’t eat red meat) and they were happy to switch the patty on their Dockside Burger to Cajun chicken. It was delicious and full of flavor. We also had the Parmesan fries, which were crispy, cheesy perfection. Ahh their dessert Mango Pavlova was heavenly. Light, sweet, and refreshing—it just melts in your mouth! If you're looking for a spot to celebrate something special (or just treat yourself), I highly recommend Beach House. Amazing service, great food, and the kind of atmosphere that makes memories. 💛

The Beach House in West Vancouver is a stunning seaside restaurant known for its fresh, high-quality seafood. With chic and elegant décor, it offers a relaxed yet upscale dining experience with beautiful ocean views. Prices are reasonable for the location and quality, and the portions are generous. The seafood platter was a standout—the oysters were incredibly fresh and flavorful. While the mussels weren’t at their peak this season, the accompanying sauce was so good it more than made up for it. The highlight of our meal was the scallop and prawn pasta—so delicious that my dad couldn’t stop raving about it. Overall, we had an awesome and thoroughly enjoyable experience. A great place for both special occasions and relaxed seaside meals.

Coming from Germany we visited Vancouver for a few days. After a very nice hiking day at Deep Cove and a visit at the suspension bridge we were looking for some seafood near the water. So glad we found the Beach House. We got there at 4:30pm and it wasn’t very crowded so we got a very nice table at their heated patio. The manager gave us a warm welcome and explained the menu to us which was nice. Then Matthew our server recommended some starters and it was just fantastic. We shared a very delicious clam chowder and aguachile which came with a nice little kick of jalapeños. Then he recommended the shareable pasta (crab & prawn oricchiette) which was also on point. We ordered some garlic bread as well which complimented the pasta very well. We had warm chocolate cake with vanilla gelato for dessert. The staff refilled water as soon as we emptied our glasses and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thanks Matthew for serving us today. Excellent service and great food. This dinner was a real highlight and we would love to come back! We can highly recommend the Beach House!!!

We had a lovely dinner at Beach House Restaurant, enjoying the stunning ocean view from the patio. I ordered the Dockside Burger, while my wife went with the Chorizo Mussel Bowl—both were solid choices with great flavor. The burger came stacked with jalapeño-havarti, secret sauce, and all the classic fixings on a griddled brioche bun. The filling was rich and satisfying, though the patty itself was just slightly on the grindy side. Still, the flavor more than made up for it. The mussel bowl was a real highlight—steamed East Coast mussels in a smoky chipotle-tomato broth, topped with green onion and served with toasted focaccia. It was warm, hearty, and had just the right amount of spicy kick. A thoughtful touch I appreciated was the flexibility with sides—I chose half fries and half salad, and was also offered clam chowder as an option at no extra cost. Mark, our server, brought a good mix of humor and attentiveness, which made the evening more enjoyable. We also had the pleasure of meeting James, who kindly and knowledgeably walked us through the dessert menu with a relaxed, friendly approach. Overall, it was a memorable evening—delicious food, welcoming service, and an unbeatable view. We will definitely be back.

It was my niece’s birthday tonight, and I’m so glad we chose this restaurant. As always, everything was perfect — the food was delicious, and our host (whose name I unfortunately don’t remember) was such a polite and kind gentleman. He even sang “Happy Birthday” for us with his beautiful voice when the cake arrived! Thank you for the warm and cozy atmosphere, the excellent service, and the high-quality, tasty food.

We came here for dinner after Christmas. We ordered their Yuzu Calamari, Baked Oysters, and Seafood Spaghettini. Food were delicous! I love the baked oysters, it was fresh and creamy. The garlic bread was also outstanding. I ordered their seasonal dessert, which combine the sourness and creaminess pretty well. Very recommended.

I came with family to celebrate a retirement, and Sadie went above and beyond to accommodate our family. She made sure we were taken care of when the reservation didn't include that a family member with disability would not be able to walk far distances or use the stairs. A family member had changed our reservation from inside the main restaurant (with no stairs) to have us seated at the patio, which would be too difficult to get to. Sadie was so kind to make sure that we were comfortable, and we really appreciate it as we were flustered and ready to go home when initally they couldnt find alternate seating inside. Sadie pulled some strings and made it happen and I'm so grateful. Matt was our server and was great with recommendations and very personable. He made sure to check in on us regularly without feeling overbearing. We got the seafood tower (a must-have), our mains (a mix of steaks and seafood), and tried all 3 desserts. My margarita was so good I had to order a 2nd 😉. A great experience, and I look forward to coming back in the future with my husband for date night and brunch with my girls.

Fusion restaurant
Kissa Tanto is a unique dining spot in an unassuming Chinatown building, offering a fusion of Italian-Japanese cuisine and cocktails in a chic space inspired by 1960s Tokyo jazz cafes. The restaurant's menu, curated by executive chef Joel Watanabe and sous chef Alain Chow, features one-of-a-kind dishes like Tonno Mantecato and Dandelion Pappardelle that evoke the elegance of a bygone era with delicate flavors.
visited the restaurant for a birthday. The service was very attentive and consistent from beginning to end. The server was excellent at providing recommendations and checking in on us. The table was wiped clean multiple times throughout the meal. Our water glasses were always topped up. The food was delicious with lots of options. I am a vegetarian and they were able to offer me a couple of off menu items as options. I would definitely recommend this restaurant looking for a special dinner out.
Tristan D — Google review
Visited during a previous/recent trip to Vancouver and was recommended by many locals as a top spot in the city (located in Vancouver’s Chinatown) as well as being featured on the Michelin Guide (one star as of the review). Kissa Tanto is best known for their Japanese-Italian fusion cuisine, combing elements of both styles of cuisine together. Their Carne Cruda is essentially a version of a steak tartare, which is made using wagyu beef and is accompanied by Asian flavours such as nashi pear, scallion soy and sansho. While the appetizer was overall unique, the flavour and texture may not be something for those who do not prefer tartare or raw meat. Their pasta dish (the Spaghettoni - no longer available on their menu as of writing) was made using a ragu of Wagyu with Japanese curry, which gave it a unique curry taste. The pasta dish probably better represented the unique Japanese-Italian fusion that the restaurant is known for, as the flavours were more unique. Based on overall reviews and consensus, their other popular main dishes such as the Whole Fried Fish are often recommended but as shareable between groups. They also offer an omakase option as a tasting menu which is also a popular option. Inside, the atmosphere is more reminiscent of a jazz bar with a more cozy environment. Bar seats are also great for solo dining or for pairs to eat at as well to be able to watch many of their drinks being made. Staff were very friendly and provided recommendations for orders as well as being accommodating. Overall, it’s definitely a unique eating experience with the dishes offered. For some of the dishes offered, however, it can be quite pricey for what it is but it would be more for the experience and atmosphere. It’s highly recommended to get reservations for the restaurant given its popularity.

As a group, we especially favoured the appetisers and pasta dishes, which really shone. The Wagyu tartare, blanketed in finely grated cheese, and the heirloom tomato burrata salad were particular standouts — vibrant, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The Franco-Japanese omelette, served early in the meal, was another highlight and a clear favourite for John, Joan, and Danielle, with its silky texture and delicate truffle topping. I especially enjoyed the Amatriciana-inspired pappardelle, rich and satisfying without being heavy. The kitchen also handled a seafood allergy in our group thoughtfully, providing a bavette in place of the seafood course. While the bavette and scallops didn’t quite suit my personal taste, both were prepared very well. Overall, it was a delightful evening — elegant dishes, wonderful drinks, and an excellent way to celebrate with dear friends.

We came here for dinner and ordered: - Fried Stuffed Olives: Sausages as filling inside. I don't really enjoyed this, because of the smell of the sausages which are too strong. - Tonno Mantecato: Mashed potato that they confit with tuna, which was so heavenly made as a dip for bruschetta with tobiko. All the fish and soft potato flavour combined perfectly in the dish. - Tajarin Pasta: Creamy from yolk in thin soft homemade pasta. - Whole Fried Fish: It may looked just like regular fried fish, but the cooking level is amazing. I couldn't find any fishy smell or oily grease on it. - Well-pairing dessert with yuzu and white chocolate. * Honorable mention for the cocktail: My Private Tokyo. The plum wine was so good: sweet & sour. The atmosphere was casual and cozy. Service was excellent!

The food is great but the service makes it outstanding. Shoutout to Daniel, Chloe, and chef Felix for making this dining experience top tier. Atmosphere is beautiful, moody, every detail feels intentional. Standout was the pappardelle. Oysters always good. Tiramisu also delicious. The pork - UNREAL. The juiciest, soft/qq, overall just a great bite. Come with friends and share a lot. Come yourself and sit at the bar. Either way, worth checking out.

I have been coming here over the years. Kissa Tanto has been one of my favorite place in Vancouver for those evenings where I just want to enjoy some creative yet refined Japanese/Italian fusion cuisine. The first time I came here there was a miso butter spread made with cheese curds that just blewwww my mind in goodness. — March 2017: The miso butter was an excellent choice! I still can’t forget til this day. Carne Crudo was incredibly good. — July 2021: My newest fave in Vancouver. Show up at 5:15pm to get a better chance of getting a spot. This place is hard to book! The theme is Japanese-Italian fusion. I had a mind bogglingly amazing cocktail - My Private Tokyo. It is an Amaretto based mix with plum wine and egg froth. The carne cruda in the photo does not look photogenic, but man, it was gooooodd!! It is a wagyu beef tatar dish, you scoop up with fried wonton skin chips. The pasta dish tajarin was just ok, but nothing for me to rave about. The star of the meal was the lamb dish. It was perfectly prepared with not a single hint of gaminess. — July 2021 Went to kissatanto again. I was craving the udon pasta I saw on the menu but was too full to try it since last week lol. It turns out I over expected. There were bits of king crabs, but nothing like what imagined a $50 dish will be lol. It wasn’t bad. Udon served like a cream sauce pasta dish was creative. The fried fish is a staple for regulars. — August 2025: Today we came by to welcome a friend from out of town. This might have been my first time coming since they earned a Michelin star. The service: I felt the service was friendlier and more personable the previous time I came here. The server has a bit of an attitude tonight with a slight air of pushiness. We still engaged the server with pleasant conversations yet the server gave off an air of- I set the rules, you eat. The server was also giving that intent stare at our bill as we signed the bill at the end of the night , intently watching what we write into the tip bar. There was also another server who kept walking by that had a bad body odor. The food: There were some stellar dishes. The charcoal udon - (pasta) dish was incredibly good. It was slightly spicy. I was in love with the medley of seafood bits mixed in it. 24 hrs copa - pork shoulder dish was also quite excellent. The saffron salsa added a bit of fragrant tone to the dish. Carne Crudo - this was a dish that has been around a long time. It is beef tartar with a mix of what tasted like pickled veggies that came up into this interesting texture of goodness that you scoop up using the crackers. Black truffle omelette - takes that Omurice omelette into a standalone dish. Omelette is served slightly runny. The flavor has that distinctive cheesy richness.

Perfect dinner. Celebrated my anniversary here and so glad I picked this place! We chose the omakase option, which was perfect. A beautiful array of shareable, creative bites and 3 different desserts(!!!) Our server was exceptional as well, and the whole atmosphere is lovely.

We visited Kissa for our Anniversary. Reservation is highly recommended. We selected the Omakase menu, and it's really a nice way to be surprised by the chef's selection for you. The atmosphere is cool casual with an air of subtle sophistication. The service is outstanding with great attention to your dining experience. It seems like the entire staff have visited our table at one point or another throughout the evening. The food is outstanding with complex flavours and a range of simple to exquisite plating presentations. It's delightful each time we visit, and Kissa Tanto deserves all the accolades.

Vietnamese restaurant
Wooden Fish is a renowned Vietnamese restaurant known for its fresh and flavorful dishes. The menu features appetizing options like Spring Rolls and Green Papaya Salad, which are crowd favorites. One of the must-try dishes is the bun cha, a messy yet delicious meal that's highly recommended by visitors. The shaking beef with sautéed and crispy onions offers a unique texture and flavor experience.
April 28 was a rainy day so we decided to have lunch at Wooden Fish in West Van and wow - totally blown away! Everything we ordered was seriously delicious. Fresh flavors, perfect spice levels, and portions that actually fill you up. The coolest part? The story behind the name! It's based on this old Vietnamese folk tale about a broke student who carved a wooden fish while dreaming of better days. He'd sit near restaurants he couldn't afford, eating his simple rice rolls while imagining sharing that wooden fish meal someday. Guy ended up becoming super successful - talk about manifestation! The staff were super friendly and you can tell they really care about the food they're serving. Not that stuffy fine-dining vibe, but still feels special. If you're in West Van and craving Vietnamese, don't even think twice. Just go. Your taste buds will thank you! Already planning my next visit to try the rest of their menu.

We had a fantastic experience at this Vietnamese restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The service was quick and very helpful; the staff were attentive and made great recommendations. It was also a great value for the money, with generous portions at reasonable prices. We especially loved the outdoor seating area—it had a nice, relaxed ambiance that made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a pleasant setting!

Absolutely incredible! The food was beyond delicious — every bite was a burst of flavor. The homemade sauces took everything to the next level. Hands down, the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever been to. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and made with love. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

About a 10 minute wait for a table. Ordered the shrimp & pork belly skewers and the Bun Cha. Skewers had great charred flavor. Bun Cha meat balls were extremely flavorful with a strong umami taste. Bun Cha fish dipping sauce was well balanced. Sauce was great to cut through the fatty meatballs. Spring rolls were crispy and great wrapped up with the lettuce and herbs. Would come back again.

Salmon curry from the summer menu. Really good, save for two issues which are easy fixes. 1: The layer of oil on top is too thick. The chicken curry did not have this problem. 2: The thicker piece of salmon was seasoned perfectly, but the thinner piece was way too salty. My family comes here regularly as the food is usually fantastic (hence the five stars) but this is the first time I felt the need to critique the food.

We were in West Van for an appointment and came across this gem of a restaurant. The dishes were really delicious. We ordered the Vietnamese ice coffee, Duck salad, chicken wings and a small Beef Pho noodle.

This was my second time here. The first visit was good, food was tasty, and service wasn’t super welcoming, but it was Sunday so I thought the staff might be busy and tired. Today’s experience was extremely bad. The restaurant wasn’t busy, but when a male staff came to ask if we were ready to order, he walked away in the middle of me ordering to talk to someone else, without saying anything or apologizing. He came back and asked again if we were ready, and then did the same thing a second time, leaving me feeling completely disrespected. When he finally took our order, he threw the plates on the table. We ordered beef noodle soup and bun cha. The meatballs in the bun cha were raw inside. When I told a female staff, she just said “put it back” and later came back claiming it was fully cooked, only offering new meatballs if I insisted. The food was okay, but the service, especially from that male server, was rude and arrogant. Staff talking loudly to each other in Vietnamese made the place feel very unwelcoming. I won’t be coming back. August 19th 3:48pm

The restaurant is pretty good, but i wanted to try the octopus. The picture from a guy was really attractive. They told me that there was no octopus but cuttlefish. I said ok. This came. 15 bucks for 7 baby cuttlefish. We are at 2.15 dollars a piece. That was disappointing and it was really spicy, good i can handle it. I guess it's shrimpflation.

Nestled in the picturesque Ambleside neighborhood of West Vancouver, Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio is a culinary gem that beautifully marries Peruvian and Japanese flavors with the freshest offerings from the Pacific Northwest. Since its inception in 2015 at False Creek, this vibrant eatery has expanded to welcome guests into an expansive dining room that accommodates 104 patrons, alongside a heated patio for an additional 38 diners.
Had such a great experience here last week with my husband. The service was super friendly, the vibe was awesome, and the food was so good. Definitely recommend the oysters—really fresh and full of flavor—and the yuca soup was creamy and delicious. Our server suggested the tenderloin, and it was a total hit. We also loved the wine selection. Left really impressed and will for sure be coming back!

I had a wonderful experience dining at Ancora. Everything was amazing from the food to the service. First off I was very impressed with how the sushi pizza was. The combination of excellent melt in your mouth sashimi and the crispy rice paired so perfectly together. Second the Ancora Glacier had some amazing items on it such as the oysters, scallops, and much more. My main which was the fish and chips were cooked to perfection and had a thin yet crisp batter coating the succulent fish. I really enjoyed this meal and would recommend this place to anyone.

The meals were amazing, we had plenty of meals and here are a photo of a few of them. We also had oysters and the pizza sushi but it was so good that I forgot take a photo before it was demolished by my table.

My husband made a reservation here for our wedding anniversary, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The food was just average, and the service felt more like a casual pho spot than a place that markets itself as fine dining. Despite noting the occasion in the reservation, the server didn’t even acknowledge our anniversary—there was no greeting, no mention, nothing. At a budget restaurant, I wouldn’t expect much, but when a place positions itself as upscale, you naturally expect a higher standard of service and attention to detail. Given the price point, I don’t think we’ll be returning. There are many other restaurants in the city that offer better food and much more thoughtful service.

Super tasty but small portions. You would easily order 2 mains to get satisfied. They say the sushi pizza is a best seller but honestly is overrated, I would recommend to go for the rolls and ceviche mixto. Gems for us were the mussels and oysters.

Came here for my partner’s birthday. Nice decor and ambiance, good location and friendly staff. We ordered several different dishes, but the Ancora glacier platter stood out the most to us, as the quality of the seafood and the flavour profiles were fantastic. The food was delicious, but the octopus tagliatelle’s noodles were cooked unevenly, and when we were offered a birthday “dessert” it was two tiny cookies, which I found odd. Pricing and portion sizes are typical for a seafood restaurant of this standard.

Great location to have a meal. We made a reservation the server escorted us but didn't do proper check-in by name. It was a bit awkward.

The service were awesome, the location is fabulous and the atmosphere is great. However, the food couldn't satisfy us. The dock is a big no while Oshi was good.

Nestled in Horseshoe Bay near a quaint village in West Vancouver, Olive & Anchor is a family-owned restaurant known for its warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu boasts a variety of seafood options, including Fish and Chips, Clam Chowder, and Salmon Burgers, all featuring farm-to-table seasonal ingredients from the West Coast of Canada. This charming eatery offers coastal-inspired cuisine with fresh seafood dishes like oysters on the half-shell, seafood linguine, and grilled salmon.
It’s been a while since my last visit, but everything was still perfect—the atmosphere, the staff, and even the weather! What I love most about this place is its consistently delicious food and the familiar, welcoming staff who never seem to change. It makes every visit feel comfortable and special. If you’re here, don’t miss the seafood pasta! Packed with fresh seafood and incredible flavor, it’s an absolute must-try. Can’t wait to come back!

Be aware when you order so-called “today’s special”. We were in the other day and were offered halibut for fish and chips. Fell for it and picked yam fries for extra $3. My cravings for some decent fish and chips became nothing but confusion, disbelief and frustration. When we got the bill, they charged $48 for halibut and yam fries. With cod and yam fries, it should’ve been $29.25. A whooping $18.75 difference for halibut instead of cod!!!!! Should’ve asked before we ordered. I had to ask the guy just to make sure they weren’t mistaken. Nope. All because I chose bloody halibut!! To top everything off, they failed to show generosity when they are charging their customer $18.75 extra- a piece of halibut literally looked like a shrimp tempura (Yup! It was that tiny!!!) Never going back here again 😡

Excellent chowder, fish taco and fish & chips! My out of town visitors greatly enjoyed this - we opted for take out and enjoyed it at a nearby picnic table! We had friendly service by the young gentleman who covered the take-out window during the lunch rush. Check this place out!

We had dinner here and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious — the burger was juicy, and the Linguini Pescatore was well-seasoned. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. There’s free parking right in front, which is really convenient. Sitting on the patio with the windows open was such a nice touch — you can see the ocean and feel the breeze. A great spot for a relaxed dinner with a view.

Very friendly staff, nice vibe inside, patio, great tasting food. We’ll go back. 👍 Had two features: beet salad and grilled 4 cheese sandwich with soup. Regular menu: smoked salmon flatbread

Good food, quick service and great location. Menu was clearly marked with Gluten Free items. Sever was knowledgeable about cross contamination of food. Would visit here again next time.

This place is hidden in horseshoe bay. Has a modern flare fusion pub style .. the views are great and the service was awesome. The fusion is bold, but the basics feels underwhelmed, like the fish and chips. A 2 piece meal is a size of 2 chicken fingers, but they have a fusion take on it with tempura batter. Below is their korean sub / dog

One of my favourite restaurants in the north shore - the staff are always incredibly friendly and accommodating; it’s like coming home! The food has always been exceptional - whether it’s the mussels, the bibimbap, the salmon flatbread, the linguine pescatore (my fav) or their incredible soups - I’m always thrilled with what i get. The atmosphere is spot on for the neighborhood: port side cozy vibes. Bummed to see all these low reviews over the last while as they’re definitely not representative of this incredible north shore establishment.
